Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Glomus tumors are rare benign tumors. The majority of them affect the skin the most and are rarer in the trachea, where the glomus bodies may not be present. Only scarce reports of tracheal glomus tumors have been reported solely with case reports of relevant articles. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 53-year-old man, with a free previous medial history, presented to our hospital with tracheal mass which was incidentally found. He did not complain of any specific symptoms associated with the tracheal tumor. The contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography (CT) revealed an avid enhancing nodular lesion, which is similar to blood vessels, in the trachea, 3 cm above the carina level without definite airway obstruction. RESULTS Successful tracheal resection and end-to-end anastomosis were performed on the patients; therefore, the final post-operative pathologic findings revealed a benign tracheal glomus tumor. The follow-up CT scan four months after operation showed complete removal of the tumor. CONCLUSION Tracheal glomus tumors, even rare entities, could be considered as a differential diagnosis if a highly enhancing mass appears on CT images.

Abstract
Glomus tumors are neoplasms arising from modified smooth muscle cells surrounding arteriovenous anastomosis in the dermis and subcutaneous tissues, which are contributing to blood flow regulation and temperature control on the skin surface. Glomus cells are sparse or absent in visceral organs, making extracutaneous presentation of glomus tumors an extremely rare finding. We briefly report histological considerations on glomus tumors of the trachea and sum the multidisciplinary aspects of their staged endoscopic and surgical management using the example of a rare case presentation.

Abstract
RATIONALE Glomus tumors (GTs) are rare soft tissue neoplasms. Several treatment options have been reported for tracheal GTs including thoracotomy, bronchoscopic electrocautery, Nd: YAG laser, and cryotherapy. However, few studies have evaluated the ideal treatment for tracheal GTs. PATIENT CONCERNS A 30-year old man who presented with cough, and expectoration for 1 month, and who had been diagnosed as having a tracheal neoplasm by cervical, and thoracic computed tomography (CT). The patient was a47 years old man. He was admitted to our hospital presenting with intermittent hemoptysis for 3 years. Thoracic CT revealed a round tumor on the right posterior tracheal wall. DIAGNOSES Both of them were diagnosed as benign GTs. Histopathology of the tumor showed clusters of round epithelioid cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm, and uniform round to ovoid nuclei surrounding dilated capillaries. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for smooth muscle actin (SMA). INTERVENTIONS The tracheal tumor of first patient was located at the level of C7-T1. Tumor resection was performed under fiberoptic bronchoscopy. The tracheal tumor in second patient was located in the lower trachea. Surgical tracheal resection and anastomosis were performed. OUTCOMES Both of them achieved good results and no recurrence was seen at the final follow-up LESSONS:: We recommend choosing the most appropriate approach to manage tracheal GTs based on patients' general condition, and tumor characteristics to obtain an excellent prognosis. Our 2 cases of tracheal GT were managed by different approaches, and both achieved good results.

Abstract
Glomus tumors (GTs) of the trachea are very rare neoplasms that usually arise from the distal portion of the respiratory tree. The origin of these tumors is modified smooth muscle cells of glomus bodies. In this study, we describe two cases of GT of the trachea, as well as the histologic features of these tumors and their treatments. One tumor was diagnosed via bronchoscopic biopsy, and the other tumor was diagnosed via surgery. Clinical follow-up showed that the two patients are alive and well after 8 and 15 months post-treatment, respectively. We also review the literature regarding GTs and discuss the clinical presentation, histologic features, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of these tumors.

Abstract
Glomus tumors are rare neoplasms that typically occur within the dermis or subcutis of the subungual space. Primary glomus tumors of the thorax are exceedingly uncommon, thus standard-of-care management is lacking. In this report we describe the management of a patient presenting with a symptomatic glomus tumor of the posterior trachea, and provide a comprehensive review including all documented tracheal glomus tumor reports.

Abstract
A 38-year-old man presenting expiratory stridor and high-grade dyspnoea was admitted to hospital in Lodz in February 2013. Chest radiographs and computed tomography scans showed a solid lesion in the upper part of the trachea occluding 85% of the airway lumen. A segmental resection of the trachea with a subsequent end-to-end anastomosis was performed. Histopathology showed an extracutaneous glomus tumour. There were no postoperative complications. Tracheal resection is the primary curative method in cases of this rare tumour.

Abstract
Glomus tumors of the trachea are extremely rare and generally benign, with very few cases of malignant transformation reported in literature. We present the case of a 74-year-old man explored for cough and dyspnea. Bronchoscopy showed a polypoid mass arising from the posterolateral tracheal wall. Computed tomography demonstrated a mid-tracheal tissular mass obliterating the tracheal lumen. Resection and anastomosis of the trachea were performed. The histological and immunohistochemical findings were consistent with malignant glomus tumor.

Abstract
A 44-year-old male presented with progressing cough, dyspnea and hemoptysis due to a tracheal tumor involving the posterior wall of the lower trachea, with severe airway obstruction and coagulopathy. Consequently the patient underwent segmental resection of the trachea with an end-to-end anastomosis. Twenty months after treatment there remained no evidence of endobronchial recurrence at bronchoscopy or imaging studies. The diagnosis was benign tracheal glomus tumor (GT) which is an exceedingly rare mass lesion in the trachea. There are three subtypes: GT proper, glomangioma and glomangiomyoma. The present study describes the clinical and pathological features of glomangioma through a case report and literature review. To the best of our knowledge, this is the fifth report of glomangioma subtype arising from the trachea.

Abstract
Glomus tumors of the trachea are rare and benign, but most become symptomatic, so they need intervention. A 21-year-old man was evaluated due to cough and hemoptysis. Computed tomography and bronchoscopy showed a polypoid mass above the carina. The tumor was removed completely by rigid bronchoscopy. The pathologic diagnosis was glomus tumor. After one year, because of recurrence of the tumor at the same site, the patient underwent reoperation, and resection and anastomosis of trachea through a right posterolateral thoracotomy was performed.

Abstract
Glomus tumors are uncommon soft tissue tumors that usually occur in the hands or feet but rarely have been described to appear in the tracheobronchial tree. Tracheal glomus tumors present with symptoms including cough, dyspnea, and wheezing that may be mistaken for other pulmonary disorders. Imaging and pulmonary function testing can detect tracheal obstruction, but pathology is necessary to differentiate glomus tumors from other airway tumors. On pathology, glomus tumors are made up of glomus cells, blood vessels, and smooth muscle and are classified based on the predominant cell type. The differential for this tumor includes carcinoid tumors, paragangliomas, and hemangiomas, and immunohistochemical stains can be used to obtain the correct diagnosis. The most common modality for treatment of these tracheal tumors has been surgical resection. However, there have been reported cases of successful removal with rigid or flexible bronchoscopy. We present a case of a tracheal glomus tumor that was successfully resected using electrocautery snare during flexible bronchoscopy. Our case adds to the evidence that flexible bronchoscopy is a safe, less invasive approach to management of tracheal glomus tumors in select patients.
