Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the commonest cause of death worldwide. ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and its consequences can be devastating particularly at younger age for a bigger impact on the patient's psychology and ability to work. Little is known about the differential features and outcomes of young STEMI patients in Egypt. This study characterized young STEMI patients (≤ 45 years) compared to patients > 45 years and evaluated 1-year outcomes. RESULTS A total of 492 eligible STEMI patients who presented to the National Heart Institute and Cairo University Hospitals were recruited. Young STEMI patients (< 45 years old) represented 20% of all STEMI comers. Male gender was predominant in both groups, yet with a significantly higher proportion in the younger compared to older patients (87% vs. 73%, p = 0.004). Compared to older patients, young STEMI patients had characteristically higher rates of smoking (72.4% vs. 49.7%, p < 0.001) and family history (13.3% vs. 4.8%, p = 0.002), while significantly lower rate of other conventional CAD risk factors as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia (20.4% vs. 44.7%, 20.4% vs. 44.9% and 12.7% vs. 21.8%, respectively, p < 0.05 for all). Follow-up was continued for at least 12 months after the index event. Younger STEMI patients had fewer major adverse cardiovascular events and fewer heart failure hospitalizations compared to the older controls (10.2 vs. 23.9% and 18.4% vs. 34.8%, respectively, p < 0.005 for both), however, 1-year mortality was similar (3.1% vs. 4.1%, p = 0.64). CONCLUSIONS Younger STEMI patients (≤ 45 years) show peculiar characteristics, with significantly higher rates of smoking and family history of premature CAD, while less prevalence of other conventional CAD risk factors. Overall MACE occurred less in younger STEMI patients; however, the mortality rate was similar to the older controls.

Abstract
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) due to obstructive coronary artery disease in young patients is an unusual event. Its clinical pattern somewhat differs from that of elderly patients, thus placing them at an increased risk of misdiagnosis, as this young population typically does not demonstrate the traditional risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. We report the case of a 35-year-old man who presented with new-onset chest pain leading to cardiac arrest and was found to have 100% occlusion of the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery, which was successfully managed with the placement of a drug-eluting stent. We briefly reviewed the literature and noted that to reduce the risk of dramatic outcomes, it is imperative to include acute MI in the differential diagnosis of young patients presenting with chest pain, regardless of the presence or absence of any identifiable risk factor.

Abstract
BackgroundThere are some controversies on the utilization and benefits of thrombus aspiration in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, a few studies investigated this issue and the age-associated effects among the large population in China. Hence, we aimed to figure out the age-associated utilization and in-hospital outcomes of thrombus aspiration to improve therapeutic decisions in clinical routine.MethodsWe retrospectively recruited 13,655 eligible STEMI patients from the database of the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-Acute Coronary Syndrome project. These subjects were allocated into primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI)-only group and thrombus aspiration group after being subdivided into three age groups (G21−50, G51−75, and G76−95). After 1:1 propensity score matching for PPCI-only and thrombus aspiration groups, a total of 8,815 matched patients were enrolled for the subsequent analysis. The primary outcome was in-hospital cardiovascular death, and the key safety outcome was in-hospital stroke.ResultsWe observed that the ratio of STEMI patients undergoing thrombus aspiration to PPCI-only reduced with aging. For patients ≤ 75 years, the culprit lesion suffered from thrombus aspiration was mainly located in the left anterior descending branch, and left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was lower (G21−50: 54.9 ± 8.9 vs. 56.0 ± 8.7%, P = 0.01; G51−75: 53.9 ± 9.6 vs. 54.8 ± 9.0%, P = 0.001) and the rate of regional wall motion abnormality was higher (G21−50: 75.7 vs. 66.5%, P < 0.001; G51−75: 75.4 vs. 69.1%, P < 0.001) in the thrombus aspiration group. By contrast, for patients > 75 years, the right coronary artery was the predominant culprit lesion undergoing thrombus aspiration, LVEF (63.1 ± 10.5 vs. 53.1 ± 9.5%, P = 0.985) and the regional wall motion abnormality (79.2 vs. 74.2%, P = 0.089) were comparable between the two treatment groups. Thrombus aspiration neither reduced the in-hospital risk of cardiovascular death, all-cause death, recurrent myocardial infarction, acute stent thrombosis, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and sudden cardiac arrest nor increased stroke risk compared with the PPCI-only group. However, after adjustment for age, thrombus aspiration presented the tendency to reduce the incidence of sudden cardiac arrest (4.9 vs. 2.5%, P = 0.06) and in-hospital cardiovascular death at 3 days (hazard ratio 0.46; 95% CI, 0.20–1.06; log-rank P = 0.08) in G76−95 group and tended to increase the incidence of heart failure in G51−75 (5.7 vs. 6.9%, P = 0.07).ConclusionThe thrombus aspiration neither significantly reduced the in-hospital incidence of major adverse cardiac events nor increased stroke risk. However, it might play a protective role in reducing in-hospital sudden cardiac arrest and increasing survival from cardiovascular death at 3 days for the elderly.

Abstract
Background There have been an increasing number of reports of myocarditis and pericarditis in adolescents and young adults after coronavirus disease 19 vaccinations. The pathophysiology of myocarditis after this vaccination is indeterminate currently. The problem is a relatively new phenomenon, and so there are no current guidelines on how to manage these cases of myopericarditis. We intend to describe our management in these two cases so that it can help guide pediatricians, intensivists, and cardiologists taking care of similar cases. Case Summaries. The first case is a young adolescent who presented with chest pain after receiving his second dose of coronavirus disease 19 vaccination with no other symptoms. His troponin was found to be 40 ng/mL. He had a normal echocardiogram and chest CT angiogram. His troponins trended down with symptomatic pain management after 3 days. The second case is another adolescent who presented with fever, fatigue, headache, and chest pain 3 days after receiving his second dose of coronavirus vaccine. His troponin was elevated to 5 ng/mL, electrocardiogram with ST segment elevations, and mildly decreased systolic function on echocardiogram. His troponins and electrocardiogram were normalized in 3 days at the time of his discharge. Conclusion The clinical course of vaccine-associated myocarditis appears favorable as both our patients have responded well to medications and rest with prompt improvement in symptoms with full recovery. The experience remains limited at this time regarding the investigations, management, and follow-up of this novel clinical entity. It is vital for all the health care providers taking care of adolescents to have knowledge about this phenomenon and make correct diagnosis in those presenting with chest pain after COVID-19 vaccine and in preventing unnecessary invasive procedures such as coronary angiogram to rule out acute coronary syndromes.

Abstract
Background Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) at a young age is uncommon. Limited data regarding the long-term follow-up and prognosis in this population are available. Our objectives were to evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of patients presenting with ACS at a young age and to assess factors that predict long-term prognosis. Methods A retrospective analysis of consecutive young patients (male below 40 and female below 50 years old) that were admitted with ACS and underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) between the years 1997 and 2009. Demographics, clinical characteristics, and clinical outcomes including major cardiovascular (CV) events and mortality were analyzed. Multivariable cox proportional hazard model was performed to identify predictors of long-term prognosis. Results One-hundred sixty-five patients were included with a mean follow-up of 9.1±4.6 years. Most patients were men (88%), and mean age (years) was 36.8±4.2. During follow-up, 15 (9.1%) died, 98 (59.4%) patients had at least one major CV event, 22 (13.3%) patients had more than two CV events, and the mean number of recurrent CV events was 1.4±1.48 events per patient. In multivariate analysis, the strongest predictors of major CV events and/or mortality were coronary intervention without stent insertion (HR1.77; 95% CI 1.09-2.9), LAD artery involvement (HR 1.59; 95% CI 1.04-2.44) and hypertension (HR 1.6; 95% CI 1.0-2.6). Conclusion Patients with ACS in young age are at high risk for major CV and/or mortality in long-term follow-up with a high rate of recurrent CV events. Close follow-up and risk factor management for secondary prevention have a major role, particularly in this population.

Age Related Differences in Acute Coronary Syndrome: an Observation at a Central Hospital in Vietnam. J Transl Int Med 2021; 9:32-37. Abstract
Background and Objectives There is little data regarding the characteristics of young Vietnamese patients (<40 years old) who get acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This study aimed to compare the risk factors, clinical-subclinical characteristics, coronary lesions, and mortality prediction (based on the GRACE and TIMI scores) of young ACS patients with their older counterparts. Methods A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted amongst 69 patients with ACS at the Cardiovascular Center of Hue Central Hospital from May 2017 to December 2018. These patients were divided into two groups: 33 patients were < 40 years old (group 1), and 36 patients were ≥ 40 years old (group 2). Demographic data, risk factors profile, clinical-subclinical characteristics, coronary lesions, and mortality prediction were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with group 2, group 1 had a higher proportion of severe angina (the prevalence of angina graded III-IV by CCS classification was 69.7% in group 1 versus 36.1% in group 2, P = 0.0108) and lower systolic pressure (median was 120 mmHg in group 1 versus 135 mmHg in group 2, P = 0.006). The prevalence of unstable angina and STEMI was higher in group 1 (51.5% and 36.4% in group 1 versus 30.6% and 11.1% in group 2, respectively), while NSTEMI was higher in group 2 (58.3% in group 2 versus 12.1% in group 1, P = 0.0002). The prevalence of single-vessel CAD, normal coronary angiography (CAG), nonobstructive CAD in group 1 was also higher and multi-vessel CAD was lower than group 2 (45.5%, 33.3%, 12.1% and 9.1% in group 1 versus 33.3%, 2.8%, 2.8% and 61.2% in group 2, respectively). The Gensini, GRACE, and TIMI scores were lower in group 1 (median was 5; medium was 78.55 and median was 2 in group 1 versus 37.5, 130.22 and 3 in group 2, respectively). Smoking was a risk factor for obstructive CAD in group 1 (OR = 7.12, 95% CI: 1.25–40.63, P < 0.05). Conclusion Young patients with ACS tended to be males, smokers, and with positive familial history; the grade of angina was more severe, and systolic pressure was lower; the prevalence of unstable angina and STEMI was higher. Smoking was a risk factor for obstructive CAD in young patients.

Abstract
Acute coronary syndrome in the young population is infrequently seen and has a different etiology from that in the elderly population. Giant coronary artery aneurysms are rare and usually asymptomatic, but they can cause acute clinical symptoms such as chest pain or chest tightness. We herein describe a young woman with a history of mitral valve prolapse who developed sudden-onset chest pain. She had mild elevations of her creatine kinase and cardiac troponin levels; however, no ST segment alteration was found on an electrocardiogram, and no abnormal regional wall movement was noted on echocardiography. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging with late gadolinium enhancement revealed a "mass" at the right coronary artery and linear subendocardial enhancement at the posterior wall. Coronary angiography later confirmed a giant coronary aneurysm with a substantial thrombus. The combined presence of the coronary artery aneurysm and mitral valve prolapse in this patient was likely a sequela of Kawasaki disease.

Abstract
Changes of the ST segment are commonly used as predictors of the culprit vessel during an acute myocardial infarction. In case of combined ST elevation in both inferior and anterior leads, these changes can be due to a distal occlusion of a “wrapped” left anterior descending artery (LAD) or a two-vessel disease. Our case of anterior wall myocardial infarction with inferior ST elevation and anterior ST depression shows that electrocardiographic changes during acute myocardial infarction cannot always be explained by logical sequelae of the injury current, vessel anatomy, and their irrigation territory.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in India. Previously it was thought to be a disease of the elderly but now an epidemiological transition is being seen with increasing incidence in the very young adults as well. Such patterns are not well studied in the South East Asian population. OBJECTIVE To study the epidemiological profile of very young (≤35 years) adults presenting with an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in comparison with an older cohort. METHODOLOGY The present study included all patients presenting with AMI to the emergency or to the out-patient department of the G B Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GIPMER), New Delhi between January 2014 and October 2015. A total of 102 subjects ≤35 years with AMI comprised the study subjects (cases) and were compared with 104 subjects >35 years old with AMI (Controls). RESULTS & CONCLUSION Most of the very young AMI patients presented with an anterior wall ST segment elevation myocardial infarction, a stable hemodynamic profile, single vessel disease and better left ventricular ejection fraction as compared with controls. Most of the patients were from urban and semi-urban areas, middle and lower middle socioeconomic status and were smokers but lacked other traditional risk factors.

Abstract
Objective The ST- elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), a serious health care problem, is commonly a thrombotic complication of coronary artery disease. We compare the STEMI patients and control group in terms of the possible causes of inherited thrombophilia including FactorV Cambridge G1091C, FactorV Leiden G1691A, MTHFRC677T, MTHFR A1298C, FactorII G20210A, Factor XIII (V34L), PAI-1, FGB, ITGB3, APOB, FVHR2, ACE gene variants. Methods Fifty-three patients with STEMI and 47 individuals without diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome were included in the study. Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed for patients with STEMI. Echocardiography was performed and inherited thrombophilia genes were evaluated in all subjects. Results The MTHFR A1298C, Factor XIII (V34L), ITGB, ACE and homozygous or compound heterozygous gene varations of inherited thrombophilia are significantly related with STEMI (p<0.05). Also significantly higher MTHFR A1298C, FactorV Leiden G1691A, PAI and ACE gene variations in MI patients who were smokers; Factor XIII (V34L), PAI and ACE gene variations in MI patients with HT; PAI and ACE gene variation in MI patients with FH and PAI gene variations in MI patients with HL were detected when compared with the control groups with all of the same risk factors (p<0.05). Conclusion Hereditary thrombophilia factors may show promise in the prevention and management of STEMI when supported studies with larger case series.

Abstract
The aim was to assess coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factor distribution and long-term outcomes in young patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Macedonia. A total of 12,361 PCI patients (from March 2011 to December 2017) were included in the study. Group 1 included 309 young patients aged ≤40 as the main study group, comparing them to 12,052 older PCI patients (group 2) during the study period. We compared CAD risk factor distribution, clinical and procedure characteristics. Additionally, angiographic data, long-term major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) and mortality were analyzed in group 1 patients. Median age was 36±4 years in group 1 and 62±11 years in group 2. Male patients predominated in both groups (88% vs.73%). Positive family history for CAD, smoking and obesity was much more common in the young group (p<0.0001). ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) primary PCI was also more frequent with 48% of PCI in the young group (p<0.0001). Multivessel CAD and chronic total occlusion interventions were more common in the older group (51% and 28%, respectively; p<0.0001). Procedure duration (31±0.4 vs. 35±22 min) and fluoroscopy time (9±4 vs. 9±12 min) were similar in both groups. There was no difference in access site bleeding (4.8% vs. 4.3%). During the 3.5-year median follow up, MACCE was present in 1.9% of young patients. In conclusion, positive family history for CAD, obesity and smoking were the most common risk factors in the young PCI population. Young PCI patients usually had single vessel CAD with STEMI being more frequent as the cause for primary PCI. Long-term annual survival exceeded 99% in these patients with excellent prognosis after PCI.

Abstract
Background Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) can lead to premature coronary heart disease. Anticardiolipin antibody may be a contributor for thrombosis. Here, we report an adult with possible FH suffered from premature myocardial infarction that may be triggered by transient increased anticardiolipin antibody. Case presentation A 29-year-old male had presented with a history of 2-h chest pain and numbness of left upper arm before 5 days. The electrocardiogram (ECG) had demonstrated inferior wall myocardial infarction (MI). Five days later he was admitted to our hospital and diagnosed as acute MI and possible FH (premature coronary heart disease, low density lipoprotein cholesterol of 5.90 mmol/L) with increased anticardiolipin antibody (up to 120 RU/ml). Other auto-antibodies including β2-glicoprotein antibodies IgM, IgA, IgG, lupus anticoagulant (LA), antinuclear antibodies, anti-myocardial antibody were normal. Coronary artery angiography (CAG) showed right coronary artery was total occlusion from the middle segment. Then he underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with a stent. Four days later, he was discharged with complete recovery. CAG showed intra-stent restenosis and anticardiolipin antibody level was normal and the patient had no any symptoms at 6-month follow-up. Conclusions Transient elevated anticardiolipin antibody may be a trigger or biomarker of cardiac thrombotic events in younger atherosclerotic patients.

Abstract
Factor XIII (FXIII) stabilizes and protects the fibrin network. Its role in myocardial infarction (MI) is still to be clarified. To evaluate the association of FXIII levels with MI in young patients and to investigate how the FXIII-A p.Val34Leu, FXIII-B p.His95Arg, and IVS11, c.1952 + 144 C>G (Intron K) polymorphisms influence FXIII levels and MI risk. Patients with ST elevation MI below 40 years of age (MI, n = 119), age-matched clinical controls (CC, n = 101) without MI and coronary artery disease, and healthy controls (HC, n = 120) were investigated for FXIII activity, FXIII-A2B2, FXIII-B concentrations and for the polymorphisms. FXIII activity and FXIII-A2B2 antigen were significantly elevated in MI. FXIII activity and antigen were significantly elevated in Arg95, while decreased in Intron K "G" carriers. Smoking had an independent increasing effect on FXIII activity and FXIII-A2B2 antigen. Intron K C>G polymorphism significantly decreased the risk of MI in patients with elevated fibrinogen. Among the investigated factors Intron K C>G polymorphism and smoking have the most powerful effect on FXIII levels and on the risk of MI in the young. The effect of smoking on coronary thrombus formation may partially be attributed to its FXIII increasing effect.

Abstract
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is autoinflammatory disorder characterized by sporadic attacks of fever, peritonitis, pleuritis, and arthritis. It is mainly seen in patients from Mediterranean origins, but it is now reported more frequently in Europe and North America due to immigration. To analyze the data on the cardiovascular manifestations in FMF patients, we searched PubMed using the terms "Familial Mediterranean Fever" or "FMF" in combination with other key words including "cardiovascular diseases" "pericardial diseases" "atherosclerosis" "coronary artery diseases" "cardiomyopathy" "pulmonary hypertension" or "valvular diseases." suggested several mechanisms to explain the cardiac involvements in FMF including the ongoing inflammation and the amyloid deposits in the heart and vessels' walls at the advanced stages of FMF. The course of these manifestations varies widely, but it can associate with poor prognosis in some cases such as with pulmonary hypertension. Interestingly, Colchicine, which is the cornerstone therapy of FMF, plays a vital role in treating and preventing some of these disorders. In this article, In this article, we will discuss the incidence, pathophysiology, and prognosis of the various cardiac manifestations affecting FMF patients.

Abstract
The aim is to study the conditions of appearance and the features of course of the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in patients with normal rates of lipid metabolism and to assess the influence of additional risk factors (uinary acid, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen) on the development of atherosclerotic process by assessment of surrogate markers of atherosclerosis the thickness of intima-media complex (TIMC) of carotid arteries (СА), the presence of atherosclerotic plaque (AP) in CA, the value of ankle-brachial index (ABI)) in patients with ACS without dyslipidemia (DLP).
Materials and methods. The study included 66 patients without DLP (50 men and 16 women, the mean age - 53,7±10,6 years) with ACS, divided in groups depending on its forms: 1 group – patients with instable angina (IA), 2 group – patients with myocardium infraction (MI) without ST segment elevation and 3 group – patients with MI with ST segment elevation. The level of serum acid, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen in blood serum were detected and ultrasound examination of СА with detection of CA TIMC, presence of atherosclerotic plaque and measuring of arterial pressure on upper and low extremities with ABI calculation was carried out.
Results. Among examined patients MI with ST segment elevation was diagnosed in 33 persons (50,0%); MI without ST segment elevation – in 18 (27,3%) and IA – in 15 (22,7%). The complicated ACS was observed in 20 (30,30%) persons. The value of CA TIMC among patients with MI with ST segment elevation was reliably higher than in patients with MI without ST segment elevation (р<0,001), and ABI was reliably lower in persons with MI and ST segment elevation (р<0,05) and IA (р<0,05) than in patients with MI without ST segment elevation. Correlative analysis demonstrated the interconnection between the levels of inflammation indicators (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen) in the blood serum and the value of CA TIMC and ABI.
Conclusions. The persons without DLP need additional examination (detection of C-reactive protein, fibrinogen levels in blood serum, ultrasound of CA and detection of ABI) for more precise evaluation of ACS risk.

Abstract
Objective: To compare patients without previously diagnosed cardiovascular risk factors) and patients with one or more risk factors admitted with acute coronary syndrome. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of patients admitted with first episode of acute coronary syndrome without previous heart disease, who were included in a national acute coronary syndrome registry. The patients were divided according to the number of risk factors, as follows: 0 risk factor (G0), 1 or 2 risk factors (G1 - 2) and 3 or more risk factors (G ≥ 3). Comparative analysis was performed between the three groups, and independent predictors of cardiac arrest and death were studied. Results: A total of 5,518 patients were studied, of which 72.2% were male and the mean age was 64 ± 14 years. G0 had a greater incidence of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, with the left anterior descending artery being the most frequently involved vessel, and a lower prevalence of multivessel disease. Even though G0 had a lower Killip class (96% in Killip I; p < 0.001) and higher ejection fraction (G0 56 ± 10% versus G1 - 2 and G ≥ 3 53 ± 12%; p = 0.024) on admission, there was a significant higher incidence of cardiac arrest. Multivariate analysis identified the absence of risk factors as an independent predictor of cardiac arrest (OR 2.78; p = 0.019). Hospital mortality was slightly higher in G0, although this difference was not significant. By Cox regression analysis, the number of risk factors was found not to be associated with mortality. Predictors of death at 1 year follow up included age (OR 1.05; p < 0.001), ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (OR 1.94; p = 0.003) and ejection fraction < 50% (OR 2.34; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Even though the group without risk factors was composed of younger patients with fewer comorbidities, better left ventricular function and less extensive coronary disease, the absence of risk factors was an independent predictor of cardiac arrest.

Abstract
The expression 'hypertensive urgencies' includes many diseases. The unifying features of these diseases are a high level of arterial pressure and acute distress of one or more organs. The aim of the review was to define the idea of the 'acute hypertension' as a new concept, different from 'chronic hypertension'. Acute hypertension might be related to 'organ damage' because it is the cause, the consequence or an effect of the acute stress. We compounded a narrative review which has included analyses of 373 articles. The structure of the search strategy included a literature search of PubMed, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar databases. We applied the following inclusion criteria: prospective double-blind randomised controlled trials, experimental animal work studies, case-control studies and recruiting patients representative of the general sick population. In this review, the diseases included in the term 'hypertensive emergencies' share 'acute' hypertension. This is a new idea that emphasises the suddenly increased arterial pressure, irrespective of the initial arterial pressure and independent of the goals of hypertension control. The 'hypertensive emergencies' have been grouped together in three subsets: (1) diseases that result from acute hypertension that is caused by faulty regulation of the peripheral circulation (acute primary hypertension), (2) diseases that produce hypertension (acute secondary hypertension) and 3) diseases that have hypertension as an effect of the acute stress caused by the principle disease (acute associated hypertension). This review highlights a novel idea: acute hypertension is a common sign of different diseases characterised by the sudden surge of arterial pressure, so overwhelming the difference between hypertensive emergencies and urgencies. The judgment of acute hypertension is independent of the initial arterial pressure, normotension or hypertension and is linked with the transient failure of the baroreflex. Hypertensive emergencies are grouped together because all of these diseases require prompt therapy to prevent the negative outcomes of acute hypertension.

Abstract
Autoinflammatory diseases are a group of disorders due to acquired or hereditary disfunction of innate immune system and characterized by systemic or localized manifestations. The prototype is Familial Mediterranean Fever, a monogenic hereditary disorder, whose causing gene (MeFV gene) was identified in 1997 and opened the way to a new fascinanting chapter of rheumatology. A growing body of monogenic and poligenic autoinflammatory disorders has been described since then. Arterial and venous thrombosis is a common medical problem, with significant morbidity and mortality. Strong evidences from basic research and clinical epidemiological studies support the theory that inflammation and thrombosis can be associated. Because of their recurrent/chronic inflammatory nature, autoinflammatory diseases are a putative cause of thrombotic manifestations. In the present work, we reviewed the available evidences about monogenic autoinflammatory disorders, complicated by thrombotic manifestations.
