Abstract
An environmentally benign procedure has been developed for the synthesis of sugar orthoesters using anhydrous sodium acetate in poly (ethylene glycol)dimethyl ether (DMPE). Various sugar orthoesers were prepared without using volatile organic solvent and quaternary ammonium salt. The sugar orthoesters were obtained in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
Replacing harmful organic solvents that caused environmental pollution with an alternative medium for the development of ideal synthetic strategies is one of the primary focal points of green chemistry. Utilizing polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a nonvolatile solvent and promotor for the evaluation of safe processes has made a considerable contribution to the reduction of pollution problems. The current review summarizes the recent well-known catalyst-free organic reaction performed in polyethylene glycol as a green and biocompatible reaction medium.

Abstract
A facile, efficient and environmentally safe strategy for the synthesis of pyrazolopyranopyrimidines via one-pot, four-component reaction of hydrazine hydrate, barbituric acid, ethyl acetoacetate, and aromatic aldehydes in polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a safe solvent in the absence of catalyst at ambient temperature has been described. The advantages of the present protocol, such as simplicity, mild conditions, high yields of products, straightforward workup procedure, a green and biodegradable reaction medium, make this new process an attractive to current methodologies.

Abstract
In this paper we report an efficient and mild procedure for the conversion of organic thiocyanates to thiols in the presence of phosphorus pentasulfide (P2S5) in refluxing toluene. The method avoids the use of expensive and hazardous transition metals and harsh reducing agents, as required by reported methods, and provides an attractive alternative to the existing methods for the conversion of organic thiocyanates to thiols.

Abstract
An efficient, one -pot, phosphine-free thiocyanation of alcohols has been achieved utilising potassium thiocyanate and N-(p-toluene sulfonyl) imidazole (TsIm) as a coupling agent in the presence of triethylamine in anhydrous DMF at 70 °C. This method converts primary alcohols into the corresponding thiocyanates, without isomerisation to isothiocyanates, in good to excellent yields. A total of 17 thiocyananates were prepared, five of which are novel. Using one equivalent of KSCN, the method shows good selectivity in the thiocyanation of a primary alcohol in the presence of a secondary alcohol.
