Abstract
First described by Bordas in 1987, papular elastorrhexis (PE) is a rare elastic fiber disorder of the skin characterized by multiple, discrete, asymptomatic, firm, nonfollicular, monomorphous, 1-5 mm, circumscribed, hypopigmented, oval to round papules, symmetrically distributed on the chest, abdomen, back, shoulders, arms, and thighs. The onset of the condition is usually in the first or second decade of life. PE appears to be an exceedingly rare entity, with 33 cases reported in the literature until now. However, the disorder might be underestimated probably because of its subtlety, asymptomatic course, and benign nature of clinical alterations, which can easily be confused with other dermatoses such as acne scars. Clinical and histopathological differential diagnosis of PE is broad and includes papular acne scars, eruptive collagenoma, disseminated lenticular dermatofibrosis (as a component of Buschke-Ollendorff syndrome), white fibrous papulosis of the neck, pseudoxanthoma elasticum, pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like papillary dermal elastolysis, middermal elastolysis, and perifollicular elastolysis. Treatment of PE is a matter of debate and no reliable curative option exists.

Abstract
Papular elastorrhexis, a rare defect of dermal elastic fibers of unknown origin, usually involves the trunk and extremities of children or young adults. We report the case of a 62-year-old woman with multiple soft, skin-colored facial papules with histological findings characteristic of papular elastorrhexis. Awareness of this entity may allow for its proper identification outside the usual clinical setting.

Abstract
Background Papular elastorrhexis (PE), eruptive collagenoma (EC), and nevus anelasticus (NA) are described as multiple small papules with decrease, fragmentation, or lack of dermal elastic fibers. These diseases are suggested to be the same entity. The change of collagen fibers in the conditions has not been addressed to date. Objective We compared the clinical features of the 3 diseases and investigated changes in the collagen fibers involved. Methods Twenty-four cases of PE, 12 cases of EC, and 2 cases of NA found in PubMed and the Korean database were reviewed. Changes in dermal collagen fibers in 10 cases with histological figures were investigated. Results There were significant similarities between the 3 entities in terms of their clinical features. Four patients with PE and 2 with EC with fine, dense collagen fibers were women who had multiple white to hypopigmented, slightly indurated to firm, millimeter-size papules on the trunk and/or extremities that progressed gradually after developing in the patients' first to third decades. Conclusion The 3 conditions are the same clinical entity in our opinion; such cases with fine, dense collagen manifest typical features.

Abstract
Pseudoxantoma elasticum (PXE), also known as Groenblad-Strandberg syndrome, is a rare heritable disease with an estimated prevalence of 1:50,000 in the general population. PXE is considered a prototype of multisystem ectopic mineralization disorders and it is characterized by aberrant mineralization of soft connective tissue with degeneration of the elastic fibers, involving primarily the eyes, the cardiovascular system, and the skin. Cutaneous lesions consist of small, asymptomatic, yellowish papules or larger coalescent plaques, typically located on the neck and the flexural areas. PXE is caused by mutations in the ABCC6 (ATP-binding cassette subfamily C member 6) gene that encodes a transmembrane ATP binding efflux transporter, normally expressed in the liver and the kidney; however, the exact mechanism of ectopic mineralization remains largely unknown. The histological examination of cutaneous lesions, revealing accumulation of pleomorphic elastic structures in middermis, is essential for the definitive diagnosis of PXE, excluding PXE-like conditions. PXE is currently an intractable disease; although the cutaneous findings primarily present a cosmetic problem, they signify the risk for development of ocular and cardiovascular complications associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this review is to present a comprehensive overview of this rare form of hereditary connective tissue disorders, focus on the pathogenesis, the clinical manifestation, and the differential diagnosis of PXE. Emphasis is also placed on the management of cutaneous lesions and treatment perspectives of PXE.

Abstract
Anetoderma is a rare, benign disorder characterized microscopically by the pan-dermal loss of elastic fibers in the dermis and presenting clinically as circumscribed, skin-colored or grey-white atrophic macules and/or patches on the trunk and/or extremities. Lesions are described as having a "sac-like" appearance, since they bulge or herniate upon palpation. Although the clinical picture is characteristic, a definitive diagnosis requires histological confirmation in order to differentiate this disorder from other conditions of elastolysis, such as cutis laxa and mid-dermal elastolysis. Little is known concerning the pathogenesis of this condition, and treatment attempts have been both diverse and unsuccessful. This article will review a case of generalized anetoderma in a patient with secondary syphilis after being treated with intravenous penicillin, along with a concise literature review.

Abstract
Among ectopic mineralization disorders, pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE)-a rare genodermatosis associated with ocular and cardiovascular manifestations-is considered a paradigm disease. The symptoms of PXE are the result of mineralization and fragmentation of elastic fibers, the exact pathophysiology of which is incompletely understood. Though molecular analysis of the causal gene, ABCC6, has a high mutation uptake, a skin biopsy has until now been considered the golden standard to confirm the clinical diagnosis. Although the histological hallmarks of PXE are rather specific, several other diseases-particularly those affecting the skin-can present with clinical and/or histological characteristics identical to or highly resemblant of PXE. In this paper, we will summarize the histopathological features of PXE together with those of disorders that are most frequently considered in the differential diagnosis of PXE.
