Abstract
Dercum's disease (DD) is a rare and poorly understood disease characterized by obesity and painful lipomas throughout the body. Although the entity is well described in the literature, its etiology, prevalence, and treatment remain unclear. Currently, treatment is focused on pain management. We describe a case of a patient with DD who showed improvement with infliximab and methotrexate.

Abstract
Lower limb venous obstruction secondary to a lipoma is a rare occurrence. Patients with these benign soft tissue tumors can be asymptomatic, or may experience symptoms of pain, parasthesia, paralysis and swelling secondary to compression on adjacent neurovascular structures. Duplex ultrasound examination is the first-line investigation, but has its limitations. We report on a case of venous obstruction syndrome misdiagnosed as chronic venous insufficiency on duplex ultrasound examination, from a deep-seated giant lipoma compressing on the common femoral and distal external iliac vein in a patient with Dercum's disease.

Abstract
Background:
Dercum’s Disease (DD) is a rare chronic pain syndrome in which patients experience extreme burning pain associated with subcutaneous lipomatous tissue deposits. These patients may also present with; weakness, psychiatric symptoms, metabolic derangements, sleep disturbance, impaired memory, and easy bruising. Common risk factors for DD include: obesity, Caucasian race, and female sex. The etiology of DD remains under debate while it has proven highly resistant to treatment (i.e., requiring high doses of opioids for adequate pain management).
Case Description:
A 48-year-old female with DD and a prior spinal cord stimulator (SCS) placed for chronic back pain, presented with recurrent back pain, and increased falling. Surgery to replace her SCS resulted in improvement in her back pain and a decreased incidence of falls. Furthermore, she noticed significant improvement in the burning pain attributed to her subcutaneous nodules; this most markedly occurred at and below the level of stimulator placement.
Conclusion:
A 48-year-old female with the extremely rare condition, DD experienced dramatic reduction in her pain following the successful revision of her SCS.

Abstract
Abdominal wall neoplasms are usually benign and, in the majority of these cases, no further work-up or treatment is indicated. The percentage of malignant abdominal neoplasms, however, is not negligible. Radiologists play a pivotal role in identifying imaging features that should favor malignancy, including larger lesion size, edema, neurovascular involvement, and peripheral or inhomogeneous dynamic enhancement, thus indicating to the clinician the need for further work-up. Histopathology is the reference standard for the characterization of abdominal wall neoplasms. In patients undergoing surgery, radiological assessment is needed to guide the surgeon by providing a comprehensive anatomic guide of the tumor extension. We present a pictorial review of benign and malignant abdominal wall neoplasms that can be encountered on radiological examinations, with a main focus on CT and MRI features that help in narrowing the differential diagnosis.

Abstract
Agents of platinum-based chemotherapy, such as cisplatin or carboplatin, are used in the treatment of a wide range of malignancies that affect children, such as brain tumors, osteosarcoma, neuroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, and germ cell tumors (GCTs). The Cyclophosphamide Equivalent Dose (CED) calculator for reproductive risk does not take platinum-based chemotherapy into account, despite the fact that it accounts for the majority of chemotherapy medications that are typically administered for pediatric GCTs. As a result, exposure to platinum-based drugs throughout infancy can have predictable long-term effects such as infertility, as well as other rare encounters such as lipoma formation and lipomatosis. Lipomas are the most prevalent benign soft tissue tumor subtype. They may be either solitary entities or engaged in multiple lipomatosis, which may have a familial origin or be an acquired disorder. Chemotherapy is a possible cause of lipomatosis. Chemotherapy based on cisplatin has been linked to a variety of long-term consequences, including kidney damage, neurotoxicity, and pulmonary toxicity, and may even create secondary cancers. However, lipoma development is known to occur in fewer than 1 in 100 individuals, and only a few examples of multiple cutaneous lipomatosis triggered by this therapy have been documented. Here we present a very rare case of lipomatosis in a pediatric patient with GCT under cisplatin therapy, which might be the third report of this kind affecting children.

Abstract
Parosteal lipoma is a rare benign soft tissue mesenchymal tumour that may impair limb motor function when located adjacent to neurovascular structures. We report a case of a woman in her 80s with a long-standing lesion in the forearm and consequent sensory and motor function changes. She was admitted for an elective excision of the lipoma. Postoperative evolution was favourable, with marked improvement of limb function. Our aim in sharing this case is to create awareness of these rare deep-seated lipomas that might originate nerve palsy and should therefore be excised as soon as possible to avoid neurological damage.

Abstract
Dercum's disease (DD), also described as adiposis dolorosa, is a poorly understood and rare adipose tissue disorder involving obesity and painful adipose tissue masses. Patients may have associated bruising and constitutional symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and sleep disturbance. DD was initially described in 1888 by Francis Xavier Dercum, and was classified into four subtypes, including generalized diffuse, generalized nodular, localized nodular, and juxta-articular subtypes. While this disease has been described for more than 130 years, its etiology and treatment remain elusive. We describe a case of a patient with DD who presented to Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans, LA, for evaluation of treatment options. We review current knowledge on this rare disease and data on modern treatment methods.

Abstract
Adiposis dolorosa, also known as Dercum's disease, is a rare disorder characterized by debilitating painful lipomas throughout the body. The prevalence and etiology of Dercum's disease are unknown as mentioned in the National Organization of Rare Disorders. We present an interesting case of Dercum's disease in a 53-year-old female who initially presented with a six-week history of painful subcutaneous masses. Ultrasound findings were suggestive of lipomas, however, her symptoms were debilitating beyond that of benign lipomas. She then represented with a rapidly increasing number of soft tissue masses manifesting throughout her body, as well as significant diffuse pain concentrating around these lesions within a short period of time following her initial presentation. The patient underwent surgical excision of a select number of these masses, with histopathology consistent with lipomas. Most cases of Dercum's disease are sporadic, and no guidelines exist regarding the treatment of the disease. Due to the rarity of this condition, in conjunction with simple lipomas typically presenting as painless masses, many patients may be misdiagnosed and neglected due to being falsely labeled as pain seeking or having their symptoms attributed to psychological disorders. Management, therefore, is complex and currently consists of a multidisciplinary approach employing multimodal treatments, including pain control, surgical excision, and psychotherapy. Although this condition has been described in the literature for over 100 years, there have been minimal advancements towards alleviating the suffering of these patients. We aimed to unearth and bring to light the reality and the suffering experienced by patients with Decrum's disease.

Abstract
Lipoma belongs to a group of benign mesenchymal tumors. It is in the form of soft masses of adipose tissue encapsulated by a thin layer of fibrous tissue and usually localized subcutaneously. The tumor most often appears in the upper part of the body. Lipomas tend to grow slowly and are small (less than 5cm) lesions. Larger tumors are rare. In this article, we present the case of a patient with a giant head lipoma in the fronto-temporo-parietal region. Both tumor size and location are unique and no such case has been described in the literature so far.

Abstract
Francis Xavier Dercum (1856-1931) was a renowned clinician, teacher, and scientist. Although he is widely known as a prominent neurologist and remembered for his treatment of then-President Woodrow Wilson, he also had many contributions to the field of medicine. Specific to dermatology, he provided the first observations and descriptions of adiposis dolorosa, which laid the groundwork for further examination and research. He dedicated his life as a scholar to teaching others and furthering the field of medicine.
