Synthesis of macrocyclic bis-hydrazone and their use in metal cations extraction

Synthesis, characterization, DFT studies and evaluation of the potential anti-tumour activity of nicotinic hydrazide based Schiff base using in vitro and molecular docking techniques

Breast cancer, one of the most serious issues worldwide, has been raising day by day. It has now become a necessary to develop a suitable drug to combat this terrible illness. Schiff bases are increasingly being used as powerful medications for a number of illnesses. BNH has now synthesized from Benzil and Nicotinic hydrazide and characterized experimentally by FT-IR, UV, 1H NMR,13CNMR and Mass analysis. DFT calculations were done using Gaussian 16 W with B3LYP/6-311 + G (d,p) and geometry of the compound is optimized. Frontier Molecular orbit (FMO), Mullikan atomic charges and Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) were studied. Invitro antimicrobial studies were done using various bacteria and fungi. The synthesized compound is appropriate against bacterial and fungal actions. Invitro study were done using MCF-7 cell lines to analyze the anticancer property of the ligand. The outcome suggests that BNH may be employed in the future as a novel anticancer medication.

Covalent Adaptable Polymethacrylate Networks by Hydrazide Crosslinking Via Isosorbide Levulinate Side Groups

Reversible crosslinking offers an attractive strategy to modify and improve the properties of polymer materials while concurrently enabling a pathway for chemical recycling. This can, for example, be achieved by incorporating a ketone functionality into the polymer structure to enable post-polymerization crosslinking with dihydrazides. The resulting covalent adaptable network contains acylhydrazone bonds cleavable under acidic conditions, thereby providing reversibility. In the present work, we regioselectively prepare a novel isosorbide monomethacrylate with a pendant levulinoyl group via a two-step biocatalytic synthesis. Subsequently, a series of copolymers with different contents of the levulinic isosorbide monomer and methyl methacrylate are prepared by radical polymerization. Using dihydrazides, these linear copolymers are then crosslinked via reaction with the ketone groups in the levulinic side chains. Compared to the linear prepolymers, the crosslinked networks exhibit enhanced glass transition temperatures and thermal stability, up to 170 and 286 °C, respectively. Moreover, the dynamic covalent acylhydrazone bonds are efficiently and selectively cleaved under acidic conditions to retrieve the linear polymethacrylates. We next show that recovered polymers can again be crosslinked with adipic dihydrazide, thus demonstrating the circularity of the materials. Consequently, we envision that these novel levulinic isosorbide-based dynamic polymethacrylate networks have great potential in the field of recyclable and reusable biobased thermoset polymers.

Direct and Indirect Neurotoxic Potential of Metal/Metalloids in Plants and Fungi Used for Food, Dietary Supplements, and Herbal Medicine

Plants and mushrooms bioconcentrate metals/metalloids from soil and water such that high levels of potentially neurotoxic elements can occur in cultivated and wild species used for food. While the health effects of excessive exposure to metals/metalloids with neurotoxic potential are well established, overt neurological disease from prolonged ingestion of contaminated botanicals has not been recognized. However, the presence of metal elements may affect levels of botanical neurotoxins in certain plants and mushrooms that are established causes of acute and chronic neurological disease.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Antimicrobial Studies of Novel Series of 2,4-Bis(hydrazino)-6-substituted-1,3,5-triazine and Their Schiff Base Derivatives

The present work represents the synthesis, characterization, and antimicrobial studies of novel series of 2,4-bis(hydrazino)-6-substituted-1,3,5-triazine and their Schiff base derivatives. IR, NMR (H1 and C13), elemental analysis, and LC-MS characterized the prepared compounds. The biological activity of the target products was evaluated as well. Twenty-two of the prepared compounds were selected according to their solubility in aqueous DMSO. Only eight compounds showed good activity against the selected pathogenic bacteria and did not show antagonistic effect against fungus Candida albicans. Two compounds 4k and 5g have wide-range effect presently in Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria while other compounds (4f, 4i, 4m, 5d, 6i, and 6h) showed specific effect against the Gram-negative or Gram-positive bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC, μg/mL) of 4f, 4i, 4k, and 6h compounds against Streptococcus mutans was 62.5 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL, 31.25 μg/mL, and 31.25 μg/mL, respectively. The MIC of 4m, 4k, 5d, 5g, and 6h compounds against Staphylococcus aureus was 62.5 μg/mL, 31.25 μg/mL, 31.25 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL, and 62.5 μg/mL, respectively. The MIC of 4k, 5g, and 6i compounds against Salmonella typhimurium was 31.25 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL, and 62.5 μg/mL, respectively. The MIC of 6i compound against Escherichia coli was 62.5 μg/mL.
