Abstract
Vitiligo is a dermatological disease characterized by loss of melanocytes, causing non-scaly white macules on the skin. Zinc, copper, and selenium are important micronutrients that play a role in the normal functioning of the body and have been found to potentially aid in vitiligo treatment, although the relationship between their serum levels and vitiligo is not yet fully understood. This is a systematic review aimed at assessing the levels of serum zinc, copper, and selenium and their association with vitiligo. This review was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items of the systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) checklist and Cochrane guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed, Google Scholar and 41 studies published between 1970 and 2022 including 3353 vitiligo cases and 10,638 controls were included in the meta-analysis conducted from August 2022 till September 2023. The quality of the studies was assessed using the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Study Quality Assessment tool, and the risk of bias was represented using the RobVis tool. The statistical analysis was performed using Review Manager (RevMan) Version 5.4. This meta-analysis indicate a significant decline in serum zinc levels (Z = 4.97; P < 0.0001; SMD = - 0.86; 95% CI - 1.19 to - 0.52) in vitiligo group with high statistical heterogeneity (Tau2 = 0.74; Chi2 = 513.95, d.f. = 26 [P < 0.00001]; I2 = 95%). Similarly for serum copper levels there was decline (Z = 2.43; P < 0.0001; SMD = - 0.50; 95% confidence interval [CI] - 0.91 to - 0.10) in vitiligo group and high statistical heterogeneity (Tau2 = 0.92; Chi2 = 475.10, d.f. = 22 [P < 0.00001]; I2 = 95%). On the other hand, there was a increase of serum selenium levels in the vitiligo group (Z = 0.56; P < 0.0001; SMD = 0.23; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.58 to 1.04) and the results reveals high statistical heterogeneity among studies (Tau2 = 1.93; Chi2 = 406.44, d.f. = 11 [P < 0.00001]; I2 = 97%) in vitiligo patients compared to healthy controls. Publication bias was not found for the studies analysed. This study analyses the association of serum micronutrient levels and vitiligo among patients and controls from published research along with sub-group analysis specific to Asian populations using a meta-analysis. Low serum levels of Zinc and copper and high selenium levels are associated with Vitiligo.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance may accompany rosacea. Zinc-alpha-2 glycoprotein (ZAG) is an adipokine involved in lipid, glucose, and insulin metabolism and might be associated with metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. AIMS To investigate the serum ZAG levels, presence of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and the correlation between ZAG levels, rosacea severity, and metabolic syndrome in patients with rosacea. PATIENTS/METHODS Seventy-nine patients with rosacea and 80 healthy volunteers were included. Anthropometric and demographic features, personal and family histories, clinical data, the subtype, severity, and duration of rosacea were recorded. Metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia were evaluated in both groups. Fasting blood sugar, lipid panel, C-reactive protein, sedimentation rate, insulin, and serum ZAG levels were investigated. RESULTS Frequency of metabolic syndrome, systolic and diastolic blood pressures, and C-reactive protein levels were significantly higher in the rosacea group (p < 0.001 and p = 0.001, respectively). Frequency of dyslipidemia and insulin resistance did not significantly differ between the groups (p = 0.175 and 0.694, respectively). The mean serum ZAG levels were lower in the rosacea group, but no significant difference was evident. In rosacea patients with metabolic syndrome, serum ZAG levels were significantly lower (p = 0.043); however, serum ZAG levels, insulin, and the homeostasis model assessment-estimated insulin resistance values were significantly higher (p = 0.168, 0.013 and 0.001, respectively). CONCLUSION Metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, and high C-reactive protein levels were associated with rosacea indicating chronic systemic inflammation. ZAG levels were associated with metabolic syndrome in patients with rosacea but not associated with rosacea subtype and disease severity.

Abstract
Zinc is a necessary trace element and an important constituent of proteins and other biological molecules. It has many biological functions, including antioxidant, skin and mucous membrane integrity maintenance, and the promotion of various enzymatic and transcriptional responses. The skin contains the third most zinc in the organism. Zinc deficiency can lead to a range of skin diseases. Except for acrodermatitis enteropathic, a rare genetic zinc deficiency, it has also been reported in other diseases. In recent years, zinc supplementation has been widely used for various skin conditions, including infectious diseases (viral warts, genital herpes, cutaneous leishmaniasis, leprosy), inflammatory diseases (hidradenitis suppurativa, acne vulgaris, rosacea, eczematous dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, Behcet's disease, oral lichen planus), pigmentary diseases (vitiligo, melasma), tumor-associated diseases (basal cell carcinoma), endocrine and metabolic diseases (necrolytic migratory erythema, necrolytic acral erythema), hair diseases (alopecia), and so on. We reviewed the literature on zinc application in dermatology to provide references for better use.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Taurine-upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) is one of the long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that plays a role in melanogenesis. MicroRNA-377 (miRNA-377) is a conserved noncoding RNA that regulates angiogenesis and promotes oxidative stress. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are components of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. PPAR-γ activators stimulate melanogenesis. Interleukin (IL)-17 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several immunological diseases. This work aimed at detecting the expression levels of lncRNA TUG1, miRNA-377, PPAR-γ, and IL-17 among vitiligo subjects and to investigate their possible role in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. METHODS This study was conducted on 30 healthy controls and 30 vitiligo patients. LncRNA TUG1 and miRNA-377 were detected in serum by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Also, expressions of PPAR-γ and IL-17 were assessed in tissue by real-time PCR. RESULTS LncRNA TUG1 and PPAR-γ levels were significantly downregulated in the vitiligo group compared with the control group. On the other hand, miRNA-377 and IL-17 were significantly upregulated in the vitiligo group compared with the control group. CONCLUSION This study demonstrated the dysregulated expressions of lncRNA TUG1 and miRNA-377 in patients with vitiligo suggesting that both contributed to the pathogenesis of vitiligo that might be through PPAR-γ downregulation and IL-17 upregulation.

Abstract
Adipokines are the primary mediators of adipose tissue-induced and regulated systemic inflammatory diseases; however, recent findings revealed that serum levels of various adipokines correlate also with the onset and the severity of dermatological diseases. Importantly, further data confirmed that the skin serves not only as a target for adipokine signaling, but may serve as a source too. In this review, we aim to provide a complex overview on how adipokines may integrate into the (patho) physiological conditions of the skin by introducing the cell types, such as keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and sebocytes, which are known to produce adipokines as well as the signals that target them. Moreover, we discuss data from in vivo and in vitro murine and human studies as well as genetic data on how adipokines may contribute to various aspects of the homeostasis of the skin, e.g., melanogenesis, hair growth, or wound healing, just as to the pathogenesis of dermatological diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, rosacea, and melanoma.

The autoinflammatory theory is perhaps the most widely accepted theory that discusses the occurrence of Vitiligo. The theory elaborates the clinical association of vitiligo with autoimmune disorders such as Psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis and Diabetes. In the present work, we discuss the comprehensive set of differentially co-expressed genes involved in the crosstalk events between Vitiligo and associated autoimmune disorders (Psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis). We progress our previous tool, Vitiligo Information Resource (VIRdb), and incorporate into it a compendium of Vitiligo-related multi-omics datasets and present it as VIRdb 2.0. It is available as a web-resource consisting of statistically sound and manually curated information. VIRdb 2.0 is an integrative database as its datasets are connected to KEGG, STRING, GeneCards, SwissProt, NPASS. Through the present study, we communicate the major updates and expansions in the VIRdb and deliver the new version as VIRdb 2.0. VIRdb 2.0 offers the maximum user interactivity along with ease of navigation. We envision that VIRdb 2.0 will be pertinent for the researchers and clinicians engaged in drug development for vitiligo.

Abstract
Introduction Vitiligo is an acquired, idiopathic disorder characterized by circumscribed depigmented macules and patches, which affects approximately 0.1–2% of the general population worldwide. Zinc is an essential trace element that is necessary for growth and development at all stages of life. Some studies have reported an association between serum zinc levels and vitiligo. Aim To measure the serum zinc level in patients with vitiligo compared to healthy subjects. Material and methods One hundred patients with vitiligo and 100 healthy controls were referred to our clinic. The two groups were matched for age and sex. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry was used to measure serum zinc levels. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results The mean serum level of zinc in vitiligo patients and controls was 80.11 ±17.10 μg/dl and 96.10 ±16.16 μg/dl, respectively. The serum zinc level in patients with vitiligo was significantly lower than in healthy controls (p = 0.0001). Conclusions The results of our study revealed a significant association between vitiligo and serum zinc levels. A relative decrease in the serum zinc level in vitiligo patients can highlight the role of zinc in the pathogenesis of vitiligo, and large-scale studies need to be conducted to confirm these findings and assess the effect of oral zinc supplements in patients with low zinc levels.

Abstract
Neurocristopathies arise from abnormal migration, differentiation, or proliferation of neural crest derivatives, leading to diverse clinical and pathological features. They are classified into dysgenetic or neoplastic, and can affect single or multiple sites (simple versus complex). Examples include congenital melanocytic nevi, neuroblastoma, Hirshsprung's disease, Waardenburg's syndrome, neurofibromatosis (NF) 1 and multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) 2A and 2B. We report two cases of peripheral nerve sheath tumors associated with vitiligo and discuss the possible implicated embryologic, genetic and molecular mechanisms. To our knowledge, we also report the first case of de novo malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) associated with vitiligo.
