CLASSIFICATION OF IRANIAN NURSES ACCORDING TO THEIR MENTAL HEALTH OUTCOMES USING GHQ-12 QUESTIONNAIRE: A COMPARISON BETWEEN LATENT CLASS ANALYSIS AND K-MEANS CLUSTERING WITH TRADITIONAL SCORING METHOD

Assessment of college students' mental health status based on temporal perception and hybrid clustering algorithm under the impact of public health events

The dynamic landscape of public health occurrences presents a formidable challenge to the emotional well-being of college students, necessitating a precise appraisal of their mental health (MH) status. A pivotal metric in this realm is the Mental Health Assessment Index, a prevalent gauge utilized to ascertain an individual's psychological well-being. However, prevailing indices predominantly stem from a physical vantage point, neglecting the intricate psychological dimensions. In pursuit of a judicious evaluation of college students' mental health within the crucible of public health vicissitudes, we have pioneered an innovative metric, underscored by temporal perception, in concert with a hybrid clustering algorithm. This augmentation stands poised to enrich the extant psychological assessment index framework. Our approach hinges on the transmutation of temporal perception into a quantifiable measure, harmoniously interwoven with established evaluative metrics, thereby forging a novel composite evaluation metric. This composite metric serves as the fulcrum upon which we have conceived a pioneering clustering algorithm, seamlessly fusing the fireworks algorithm with K-means clustering. The strategic integration of the fireworks algorithm addresses a noteworthy vulnerability inherent to K-means-its susceptibility to converging onto local optima. Empirical validation of our paradigm attests to its efficacy. The proposed hybrid clustering algorithm aptly captures the dynamic nuances characterizing college students' mental health trajectories. Across diverse assessment stages, our model consistently attains an accuracy threshold surpassing 90%, thus outshining existing evaluation techniques in both precision and simplicity. In summation, this innovative amalgamation presents a formidable stride toward an augmented understanding of college students' mental well-being during times of fluctuating public health dynamics.

Influence of Short Video Application on College Students' Mental Health under Big Data Monitoring Environment

Short videos are increasingly being consumed by college students as crucial content in the age of big data since they are a perfect fit for this medium. Therefore, college students should place a high value on the utilization of short movies. In this study, a neural network is utilized to create a mental health prediction model for college students. The neural network is trained using its self-learning capability to map out the relationships between different elements and mental health. The enhanced algorithm minimizes the production of candidate item sets to some amount, as well as the algorithm's time and space requirements, significantly decreasing the initialization time of the transaction set. According to the research, the test sample's pattern recognition accuracy was 81.29%, whereas the training sample's accuracy for pattern recognition was 83.37%. The analysis's finding is that the enhanced mining algorithm offers a fresh approach to educating college students about their health.

Psychosocial Hazards in the Workplace as an Aspect of Horizontal Segregation in the Nursing Profession

The purpose of this article was to assess the influence of psychosocial hazards as a factor affecting the presence of men in the nursing profession. The article refers to the topic of particularly low representation of men among nursing staff in Poland, in comparison to what similar statistics show for other countries. The aim of the study was to assess whether the psychosocial hazards in the nursing profession constitute a significant factor in the small number of men present in this occupation. In this article psychosocial hazards are considered as all the aspects of management and work organization that may negatively affect the employee's mental and physical health. The research was conducted from September 2017 to April 2018 in the Podlaskie Voivodeship (Poland). A total of 640 respondents working as nurses in inpatient health care facilities, of which 87% were women and 13% were men, were included in the study. A standardized Work Design Questionnaire for an objective assessment of work stressfulness was used as a research tool. The research has been run by a group of experts, who explained the aim and the meaning of the particular questions to the surveyed group. Afterwards, based on the answers and observations of the responders, the experts filled in the questionnaire. The results of the study show that in almost all the evaluated aspects, the nursing profession was assessed more negatively by surveyed men than women. The most negative aspects reported by women included hazards (a score of 60), complexity (58.3), and haste (50.0), while those reported by men included haste (70.0), complexity (66.7), and hazards (65.0). As a conclusion it has been noticed, that results received from the research confirm that psychosocial hazards may have significant impact on the number of men present in the nursing profession in Poland. This study also suggests that the greater psychosocial hazards experienced by male nurses in the workplace may be an effect of the particularly low representation of men among practicing nursing staff.

Prevalence of Internet Addiction and Associated Psychological Co-morbidities among College Students in Bhutan

INTRODUCTION

Globally 3.5 billion people have access to internet and most of them are young adults and adolescents. In South Asia, Bhutan has the highest proportion of population with internet access at 37% in 2016. Many studies in Asia have reported significantly high level of internet addiction among college going students. In this light, this study was designed to estimate the prevalence of internet addiction and other co-morbidities.

METHODS

This cross sectional study included 823 first year and final year students aged 18-24 from six colleges in Bhutan. A self-administered questionnaire consisting of three parts was utilized for data collection. The data was entered and validated in Epidata and analyzed using STATA/IC 14.

RESULTS

The prevalence of moderate and severe internet addiction was 282 (34.3%) and 10 (1%) respectively. Positive correlations between internet addiction and psychological well-being (r= 0.331 95% CI: 0.269, 0.390), between Internet Addiction score and years of internet usage (r=0.104 95% CI: 0.036, 0.171), age and years of using internet (r= 0.8 95% CI: 0.012, 0.148) were observed. The commonest mode of internet use was martphone 714 (86.8%). The use of computer laboratory (aPR 0.80, 95%CI: 0.66, 0.96) and internet use for news and educational purposes (aPR 0.76, 95%CI: 0.64, 0.9) showed protective effects.

CONCLUSIONS

The prevalence of internet addiction is high among the college going students in Bhutan. This warrants timely interventions to address the problems of internet addiction.
