Abstract
Objective Both 5:2 IF diet (intermittent fasting) and daily caloric restriction eating had been suggested for management of MAFLD (Metabolic-Associated Fatty Liver Disease), this study aimed to evaluate the effects of 5:2 IF diet on body weight and metabolic parameters in adults with MAFLD, in comparison to daily caloric restriction eating. Methods This single-center, double-blind, prospective, randomized controlled trial included 60 patients with MAFLD, who were administered either a 5:2 IF diet limited calories consumed for 2 days each week with no restrictions on the remaining 5 (Group 5:2 IF diet) or a daily calorie restriction eating (Group daily calorie restriction). Fibrotouch-B instrument assessment, ultrasound assessment of hepatic steatosis, anthropometric indices and body composition analysis, blood sample measurements were conducted during two distinct visits: initially on the day of study commencement (T1), and subsequently at the conclusion of the 12-week intervention period (T2). Results In comparison to daily calorie restriction eating, the 5:2 IF diet significantly decreased the proportion of hepatic steatosis ≥moderate (29.6% vs. 59.3%, p = 0.028) and the degree of hepatic fibrosis F ≥ 2 (3.7% vs. 25.9%, p = 0.05), and fewer percentage of patients were diagnosed with fatty liver via upper abdominal ultrasound in the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet group (33.3% vs. 63.0%, p = 0.029). Additionally, the CAP (controlled attenuation parameter) and LSM (liver stiffness measurements) value were significantly lower in the 5:2 IF diet group (p < 0.05). No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of weight, BMI (body mass index), WC (waist circumference), HC (hip circumference), and WHR (waist to hip ratio). Similarly, there were no significant differences in lipid profile, glycemic indices and adverse events (p > 0.05). Conclusion In summary, although both 5:2 IF diet and daily caloric restriction eating achieved similar effect on body weight, liver enzymes, lipid profile and glycemic indices after 12 weeks treatment, 5:2 IF diet demonstrates better improvement in fibrosis and steatosis scores independently from weight regulation. Consequently, it is anticipated to emerge as a viable dietary modality for lifestyle intervention among patients diagnosed with MAFLD. Abstract
Background The correlation between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss remains to be further elucidated, particularly in patients receiving pegylated interferon-α (PEG-IFN) treatment. Methods 758 patients with low HBsAg quantification who had received nucleos(t)ide analog (NUC) therapy for at least one year and subsequently switched to or add on PEG-IFN therapy over an unfixed course were enrolled. 412 patients were obtained with baseline data matched. A total of 206 patients achieved HBsAg loss (cured group) within 48 weeks. Demographic and biochemical data associated with MetS were gathered for analysis. HepG2.2.15 cell line was used in vitro experiments to validate the efficacy of interferon-α (IFN-α). Results The proportion of patients with diabetes or hypertension in the uncured group was significantly higher than in the cured group. The levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG) and glycated albumin remained elevated in the uncured group over the 48 weeks. In contrast, the levels of blood lipids and uric acid remained higher in the cured group within 48 weeks. Triglycerides levels and liver steatosis of all patients increased after PEG-IFN therapy. Baseline elevated uric acid levels and hepatic steatosis may be beneficial for HBsAg loss. IFN-α could induce hepatic steatosis and indirectly promote HBsAg loss by increasing triglyceride level through upregulation of acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 1(ACSL1). Conclusions IFN-α could induce liver steatosis to promote HBsAg loss by increasing triglyceride level through upregulation of ACSL1. Comorbid diabetes may be detrimental to obtaining HBsAg loss with PEG-IFN therapy in CHB patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To estimate the performance of the FibroTouch-based ultrasound attenuation parameter (UAP) for assessing hepatic steatosis in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), with magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) as the reference standard. METHODS This prospective, cross-sectional study included 275 individuals in the training group and 110 individuals in the validation group, all of whom completed a standardized research visit, laboratory tests, MRI-PDFF, and UAP measurements over 1 month. Pearson correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman analysis were used to assess the agreement between UAP and MRI-PDFF for the detection of hepatic steatosis. The diagnostic value of UAP was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUROC). Confounding factors to UAP performance were identified by ROC curves and regression analyses. RESULTS The AUROC of UAP for detecting MRI-PDFF at ≥5%, ≥10%, and ≥20% were 0.95 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.92-0.97), 0.86 (95% CI 0.81-0.90), and 0.90 (95% CI 0.86-0.93), respectively, and their optimal thresholds were 259, 274, and 295 dB/m, respectively. The UAP measurements had higher diagnostic accuracy in participants with lower waist circumference (≤90 cm for men and ≤80 cm for women) compared to those with higher waist circumference (AUROC values: 0.97 vs 0.84, P < 0.05). Bland-Altman analysis showed good agreement between UAP and MRI-PDFF (bias 0.00021). According to established regression analyses, hepatic steatosis could be accurately diagnosed using UAP estimation. CONCLUSIONS FibroTouch-UAP has a high diagnostic potential for hepatic steatosis in NAFLD patients and helps clinical assessment and monitoring.

Abstract
Purpose In this study, we examined the changes to the composition and function of the gut microbiota from patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).We compared patients in a case group (liver stiffness (LSM) ≥ 7.4 kPa) with a matched control group (LSM < 7.4 kPa) and investigated the correlation between characteristics of the microbiota and other biochemical indicators. Methods The study looked at a total of 85 men with MAFLD, 17 of whom were in the case group and 68 of whom were in the control group. We measured waist circumference, blood pressure, and body mass index, as well as clinical parameters including liver stiffness, enzyme levels, cholesterol levels, and fat attenuation. Whole-genome shotgun sequencing technology and the MetaCyc database were then used to detect the composition and major pathways of the gut microbiota for each patient. Statistical analyses were performed, including the chi-square test, the student’s t-test, the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, and the Mann–Whitney test. Results Whole-genome sequencing showed that the composition of the gut microbiota in patients with an LSM of above 7.4 kPa was significantly different to that of the control group. There were seven bacterial species that were different between the two groups. Prevotella copri, Phascolarctobacterium succinatutens, Eubacterium biforme, and Collinsella aerofaciens were enriched in the case group (P < 0.05). Conversely, Bacteroides coprocola, Bacteroides stercoris and Clostridiales bacterium 1_7_47FAA were decreased in the case group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, after removing low abundance pathways, a total of 32 microbial pathways were found to be significantly different between the two groups. Most pathways enriched in the case group over the control were related to biosynthesis of metabolites including amino acids, vitamins, nucleosides, and nucleotides. Conclusion. The composition and function of the gut microbiota in patients with increased liver stiffness are significantly altered. This observation may provide new avenues to better understand the mechanism of liver fibrosis.

Abstract
The gut microbiota has been identified as a predictive biomarker for various diseases. However, few studies focused on the diagnostic accuracy of gut microbiota derived-signature for predicting hepatic injuries in schistosomiasis. Here, we characterized the gut microbiomes from 94 human and mouse stool samples using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The diversity and composition of gut microbiomes in Schistosoma japonicum infection-induced disease changed significantly. Gut microbes, such as Bacteroides, Blautia, Enterococcus, Alloprevotella, Parabacteroides and Mucispirillum, showed a significant correlation with the level of hepatic granuloma, fibrosis, hydroxyproline, ALT or AST in S. japonicum infection-induced disease. We identified a range of gut bacterial features to distinguish schistosomiasis from hepatic injuries using the random forest classifier model, LEfSe and STAMP analysis. Significant features Bacteroides, Blautia, and Enterococcus and their combinations have a robust predictive accuracy (AUC: from 0.8182 to 0.9639) for detecting liver injuries induced by S. japonicum infection in humans and mice. Our study revealed associations between gut microbiota features and physiopathology and serological shifts of schistosomiasis and provided preliminary evidence for novel gut microbiota-derived features for the non-invasive detection of schistosomiasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Liver biopsy is the gold standard for staging liver fibrosis, but it has numerous drawbacks, mainly associated with bleeding and bile fistula risks. A number of non-invasive techniques have been investigated, but they all have their own disadvantages. To avoid the risks mentioned above and to improve the diagnostic value, we still need to search for a more accurate non-invasive method to evaluate the degree of liver fibrosis. AIM This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of FibroTouch versus other non-invasive fibrosis indexes in hepatic fibrosis of different aetiologies. METHODS This study retrospectively enrolled 227 patients with chronic hepatic liver disease admitted to the first hospital of Lanzhou University from 2017 to 2020. Liver biopsy was performed in all of the patients, and their biochemical indicators were all tested. Non-invasive indexes including the fibrosis index based on four factors (FIB-4), the aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index (APRI), and the gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase-to-platelet ratio index (GPRI) were all calculated. Transient elastography was performed using FibroTouch. RESULTS The correlation between FibroTouch and the pathology of liver fibrosis was significantly higher than that between the non-invasive fibrosis indexes and the biopsy results (r = 0.771, p < 0.05). The area under the receiver operating curve (AUC) of FibroTouch was significantly higher than that of FIB-4, APRI, and GPRI for the diagnosis of significant fibrosis (≥ S2 fibrosis stage), advanced fibrosis (≥ S3 fibrosis stage), and cirrhosis (= S4 fibrosis stage) (p < 0.05). The patients were grouped according to different aetiologies. The diagnostic value of FibroTouch had much higher credibility in different fibrosis stages for different causes compared with other non-invasive indexes. The AUC of FibroTouch showed both higher specificity and higher sensitivity than FIB-4, APRI, and GPRI for different liver fibrosis stages with different aetiologies. CONCLUSIONS FibroTouch demonstrates the highest diagnostic value for liver fibrosis and cirrhosis among non-invasive methods, showing better results than FIB-4, APRI, and GPRI, and surpassed only by liver biopsy. FibroTouch is reliable in assessing liver fibrosis with different aetiologies.

Abstract
AIMS/INTRODUCTION Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus are closely related, and often occur simultaneously in patients. Type 2 diabetes increases the risk of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, resulting in intolerable pain and extremity amputation that reduces the quality of life. However, the role of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in the pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy remains unclear. Thus, we evaluated the correlation of liver fibrosis and steatosis, which are representative histological morphologies of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Five hundred twenty individuals with type 2 diabetes were recruited. All the patients were detected nerve conduction study for diabetic peripheral neuropathy and fibro touch for liver steatosis and fibrosis. Correlation of DPN with liver steatosis and fibrosis were analysed with binary logistic analysis. RESULTS Among the 520 patients, the prevalence of liver steatosis, fibrosis and diabetic peripheral neuropathy was 63.0% (n = 328), 18.1% (n = 94) and 52.1% (n = 271), respectively. The prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy was significantly elevated in patients with liver steatosis (55.7 vs 44.9%, P = 0.03) and fibrosis (61.5 vs 50%, P = 0.04), and it increased as liver stiffness measurement increased. Additionally, both hepatic steatosis (odds ratio 1.48, 95% confidence interval 1.04-2.11, P = 0.03) and fibrosis (odds ratio 1.60, 95% confidence interval 1.02-2.51, P = 0.04) were correlated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. After adjusting for age, sex, weight, height, body mass index, waist hip ratio, duration of type 2 diabetes, blood glucose, homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance, blood pressure, serum lipid, liver enzyme, urea, uric acid, creatinine and inflammatory factors, liver fibrosis remained associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (odds ratio 2.24, 95% confidence interval 1.11-4.53, P = 0.02). CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy was elevated in patients with liver steatosis and fibrosis. Liver fibrosis was also independently associated with an increased risk of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Abstract
AIMS We aimed to establish the basal reference levels of liver stiffness and accumulated fat in healthy Chinese children. METHODS To obtain the liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and the fat attenuation parameter (FAP) levels, the transient elastography (FibroTouch) was used in pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. The patients were divided into groups as follows: newborns/infants (0-2 years), preschool children (3-5 years), elementary school children (6-11 years), and adolescents/teenagers (12-18 years). The weight, height and fasting liver function tests were performed. FibroTouch and abdominal ultrasonography were performed. RESULTS The livers of 521 out of 1362 children (329 male; median age, 4.6 years; age range 0.2-17.6 years) were examined with the FibroTouch. The LSM reference range was 1.5-5.9 kPa, and the FAP reference range was 159.6-217.1 dB/m in healthy children from 0 to 18 years of age. The median LSM value was higher in males than that in females (3.5 vs. 3.2 kPa, respectively; P = 0.01). CONCLUSION For healthy children from 0 to 18 years in southern China, the LSM reference range was 1.5-5.9 kPa, and the FAP reference range was 159.6-217.1 dB/m. The LSM values were age-dependent in children from 3 to 18 years old, and the FAP values were age-independent in children from 0 to18 years old.

Abstract
Background & aim We studied FibroTouch (FT) and Fibroscan (FS) examination results and their repeatability when performed by healthcare personnel of different background. Methods FT and FS examinations were performed on patients with chronic liver disease by two operators, a doctor and a nurse, twice on each patient, at two different time points, independent of each other. Results The data for 163 patients with 1304 examinations was analyzed. There was strong correlation between FT and FS for attenuation parameter (Spearman’s rho 0.76, p<0.001) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) (Spearman’s rho 0.70, p<0.001). However, FT produced higher value at lower attenuation parameter and LSM, and lower value at higher attenuation parameter and LSM. There was substantial agreement when using 15kPa LSM cut-off, but only moderate agreement when using 10kPa and 20kPa LSM cut-offs and 248dB/m, 268dB/m and 280dB/m attenuation parameter cut-offs. The IQR for attenuation parameter and IQR/median for LSM were significantly lower for FT compared with FS (4dB/m vs 27dB/m, p<0.001, and 10 vs 12, p<0.001, respectively). The intra- and inter-observer reliability of attenuation parameter and LSM using FT and FS were good to excellent with intraclass correlation coefficients 0.89–0.99. FT had shorter examination time (33s vs 47s, p<0.001) and less invalid measurements (0 vs 2, p<0.001). Conclusion Measurements obtained with FT and FS strongly correlated, but significant differences in their absolute values, consistency, examination time and number of invalid measurements were observed. Either device can be used by healthcare personnel of different backgrounds when sufficiently trained.

Abstract
Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) belongs to the family of prolyl-specific serine proteases and displays both exopeptidase and endopeptidase activities. FAP expression is undetectable in most normal adult tissues, but is greatly upregulated in sites of tissue remodeling, which include fibrosis, inflammation and cancer. Due to its restricted expression pattern and dual enzymatic activities, FAP inhibition is investigated as a therapeutic option for several diseases. In the present study, we described the structure-activity relationship of several synthesized compounds against DPPIV and prolyl oligopeptidase (PREP). In particular, BR102910 (compound 24) showed nanomolar potency and high selectivity. Moreover, the in vivo FAP inhibition study of BR102910 (compound 24) using C57BL/6J mice demonstrated exceptional profiles and satisfactory FAP inhibition efficacy. Based on excellent in vitro and in vivo profiles, the potential of BR102910 (compound 24) as a lead candidate for the treatment of type 2 diabetes is considered.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE FibroTouch is a newly developed device to assess ultrasound attenuation parameter (UAP) and liver stiffness measurement to quantify hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, respectively. However, there is currently a lack of defined thresholds of UAP to diagnose different stages of hepatic steatosis. We aimed to assess the optimal thresholds of UAP for hepatic steatosis in individuals with biopsy-proven fatty liver disease (FLD). METHODS We enrolled 497 adults with FLD undergoing FibroTouch and liver biopsy. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was performed to calculate the performance of UAP in staging hepatic steatosis. Hepatic steatosis >33% was defined as significant steatosis. We determined the optimal cutoff values of UAP and the sensitivity or specificity higher than 90%. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value were subsequently calculated. RESULTS The median UAP for the enrolled patients was 308 dB/m. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that UAP was associated with significant steatosis [adjusted-odds ratio 1.05, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.02-1.09; P = 0.001]. The AUROCs for S ≥ 1, S ≥ 2 and S = 3 were 0.88 (95% CI, 0.84-0.91), 0.77 (95% CI, 0.73-0.81), and 0.70 (95% CI, 0.63-0.77), respectively. The optimal UAP cutoffs were 295 dB/m for S ≥ 1, 314 dB/m for S ≥ 2, and 324 dB/m for S = 3. Almost identical results were observed in the subgroup of patients with biopsy-confirmed nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (n = 435). CONCLUSION We found that the AUROC values of UAP by FibroTouch were ranging from 0.70 to 0.88 for assessing hepatic steatosis severity. These UAP cutoffs could be applicable for clinical use.

Abstract
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is one of the commonest chronic infections, especially in Asia and Africa, which put a heavy burden worldwide. With the advanced knowledge of HBV, early detection, primary care, and hepatology have made huge progression than before. However, the relationship between gender, age, and different key parameters in HBV patients remains to be determined.In this study, we measured various physiological and biochemical indexes in a large cohort of HBV patients as well as healthy control. We investigated the strength of correlations among those indexes and reported instantaneous imaging results. Moreover, we examined the effects of various grouping modes such as by gender or age on liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and controlled attenuation parameters (CAPs). We compared their diagnostic values for hepatic fibrosis in HBV patients.The results showed that specimens from a healthy control were obviously clustering tightly together, while the specimens from the HBV patients were clustering into several subgroups. Direct bilirubin (DB), total bilirubin (TB), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) occurred together with the diagnosis of HBV. Furthermore, groups categorized by Gender had significant effects on fibrotouch measurement not only in HBV patients but also in healthy control.Our research was to evaluate the actual effects of various parameters on Fibrotouch and make improvement of the critical value of those medical indexes.

Abstract
UNLABELLED In the absence of liver biopsy and transient elastography (TE), aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio (APRI), fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4), and gammaglutamyl transpeptidase to platelet ratio (GPR) are simple and inexpensive methods for the detection of liver fibrosis. AIMS We compared the performance of APRI, FIB-4, and GPR scores against TE in predicting the presence of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, determined the optimal cut-off values for fibrosis and cirrhosis prediction, and reviewed the need for further TE assessment in resource-limited areas in China. METHODS TE and basic laboratory tests were performed in 2014 consecutive patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), and then compared to APRI, FIB-4, and GPR. RESULTS For the detection of significant fibrosis, the areas under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curves for APRI, FIB-4, and GPR were 0.83, 0.75, and 0.77, respectively. For the detection of cirrhosis, the AUROC curves for APRI, FIB-4, and GPR were 0.90, 0.84, and 0.84, respectively. The cutoff of APRI was 0.35, with 78% sensitivity and 63% negative predictive value (NPV), to exclude significant fibrosis (F ≥ 2). At an APRI of 0.6, results showed a 94% specificity, 100% positive predictive value (PPV) and 7.9 positive likelihood ratio (PLR) in detecting significant fibrosis. Thus, patients with an APRI of <0.35 or >0.6 demonstrated correct prediction of liver fibrosis. These results translated to 1250 out of the 2014 patients avoiding the need for TE with a diagnostic accuracy of >80%. CONCLUSIONS The APRI score accurately assessed fibrosis and reduced the need for TE in almost two-thirds of Chinese patients with CHB.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Insulin resistance is strongly associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a chronic, obesity-related liver disease. Increased endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress plays an important role in the development of insulin resistance. In this study, we investigated the roles of miRNAs in regulating ER stress in the liver of rats with obesity. METHODS We used miRNA microarray to determine the miRNA expression profiles in the liver of rats fed with a high fat diet (HFD). We used prediction algorithms and luciferase reporter assay to identify the target gene of miRNAs. To overexpress the miRNA miR-30b or inhibit miR-30b rats were injected with lentivirus particles containing PGLV3-miR-30b or PGLV3-miR-30b antimiR through tail vein. Hepatic steatosis was measured using transient elastography in human subjects. RESULTS Our data showed that miR-30b was markedly up-regulated in the liver of HFD-treated rats. Bioinformatic and in vitro and in vivo studies led us to identify sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum Ca2+ -ATPase 2b (SERCA2b), as a novel target of miR-30b. Overexpression of miR-30b induced ER stress and insulin resistance in rats fed with normal diet, whereas inhibition of miR-30b by miR-30b antimiR suppressed ER stress and insulin resistance in HFD-treated rats. Finally, our data demonstrated that there was a positive correlation between serum miR-30b levels and hepatic steatosis or homoeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in human subjects. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that miR-30b represents not only a potential target for the treatment of insulin resistance, but also a non-invasive disease biomarker of NAFLD.

Abstract
Hepatic fibrosis progress accompanied by an unbalanced extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and deposition leads to an increased tissue stiffness. Hepatocytes interplay with all intrahepatic cell populations inside the liver. However, how hepatocytes migration and cellular Young's modulus influenced by the substrate stiffness are not well understood. Here, we established a stiffness-controllable in vitro cell culture model by using a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel that mimicked the same physical stiffness as a fibrotic liver. Three levels of stiffness were used in our experiment that corresponded to the stiffness levels found in normal liver tissue (4.5 kPa), the early (19 kPa) and late stages (37 kPa) of fibrotic liver tissues. Cytoskeleton of hepatocyte was influenced by substrate stiffness. Soft substrate promoted the cellular migration and directionality. The cellular Young's modulus firstly increased and then decreased with increasing substrate stiffness. Integrin-β1 and β-catenin expression on cytomembrane were up-regulated and down-regulated with the increase of substrate stiffness, respectively. Our data not only suggested that hepatocytes were sensitive to substrate stiffness, but also suggested that there may be a potential relationship among substrate stiffness, cellular Young's modulus and the dynamic balance of integrin-β1 and β-catenin pathways. These results may provide us a new insight in mechanism investigation of mechano-dependent diseases, especially like fibrosis related diseases.

Abstract
Background It is essential to accurately predict Postoperative liver failure (PHLF) which is a life-threatening complication. Liver hardness measurement (LSM) is widely used in non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis. The aims of this study were to explore the application of preoperative liver stiffness measurements (LSM) by transient elastography in predicting postoperative liver failure (PHLF) in patients with hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods The study included 247 consecutive patients with hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent hepatectomy between May 2015 and September 2015. Detailed preoperative examinations including LSM were performed before hepatectomy. The endpoint was the development of PHLF. Results All of the patients had chronic hepatitis B defined as the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) for more than 6 months and 76 (30.8%) had cirrhosis. PHLF occurred in 37 (14.98%) patients. Preoperative LSM (odds ratio, OR, 1.21; 95% confidence interval, 95% CI: 1.13–1.29; P < 0.001) and international normalized ratio (INR) (OR, 1.07; 95% CI: 1.01–1.12; P < 0.05) were revealed to be independent risk factors for PHLF, and a new model was defined as LSM-INR index (LSM-INR index = 0.191*LSM + 6.317*INR-11.154). The optimal cutoff values of LSM and LSM-INR index for predicting PHLF were 14 kPa (AUC 0.86, 95% CI: 0.811–0.901, P < 0.001) and −1.92 (AUC 0.87, 95% CI: 0.822–0.909, P < 0.001), respectively. Conclusions LSM can be helpful for surgeons to make therapeutic decisions in patients with hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma.
