Sonographic appearance of plasmablastic lymphoma of the testes

Straight Vessel Pattern and Rapid Filling Time: Characteristic Findings on Contrast-Enhanced Sonography of Testicular Lymphoma

Six patients with 7 lesions that were histologically confirmed as primary testicular lymphoma were preoperatively investigated with a standardized sonographic protocol including contrast-enhanced sonography. Duplex and contrast-enhanced sonography showed marked hypervascularization in all 7 lesions. On contrast-enhanced sonography, the filling time of lymphomatous lesions was significantly shorter than the filling time of a size-matched sample of 10 patients with seminomas (P < .0001). The sonographic hallmarks of testicular lymphoma in our case series were as follows: (1) sharply demarcated homogeneous hypoechoic testicular lesions with marked hypervascularization; (2) a rapid (<7 seconds) filling time of contrast bubbles; and (3) a straight and parallel course of intralesional vessels on contrast-enhanced sonography.

Primary bilateral plasmablastic lymphoma of the testis in a human immunodeficiency virus positive man

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-related lymphomas are predominantly aggressive B-cells lymphomas. The most prevalent of the HIV-related lymphomas are diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), which includes primary central nervous system lymphoma, and Burkitt lymphoma, whereas primary effusion lymphoma, plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL), and classic Hodgkin lymphoma are far less frequent. Of these, PBL is relatively uncommon and displays a distinct predilection for presentation in the oral cavity. In this manuscript, we report a primary testicular form of PBL in 44 year-old Border Security HIV positive patient who presented with bilateral testicular swelling of 1-year duration. On cytopathological and subsequent histopathological examination, the diagnosis of bilateral plasmablastic NHL was made. Extensive systemic work-up failed to reveal any disease outside the testes. Immune suppression rather than HIV itself is implicated in the pathogenesis of lymphomas. Herein, we report a case of PBL as AIDS-related malignancy presenting in testes and its correlation with CD4+ count.

Adult type granulosa cell tumor of the testis: Radiological evaluation and review of the literature

A testicular granulosa cell tumor of the adult type is very rare. Isolated case reports and small series have been published in the English literature. Here, we analyze an incidentally discovered testicular granulosa cell tumor in a 29-year-old man to discuss the radiological evaluation of this entity and review the literature.
