Breast Pseudoaneurysm Following a Motor Vehicle Collision

A breast pseudoaneurysm (PSA) is a rare complication, with most cases reported following breast procedures. There are few reported cases of breast PSAs following blunt trauma. We report a rare case of right breast PSA in a 67-year-old female following a motor vehicle collision. The PSA was managed with a simple external pressure dressing over the breast and was found to have spontaneously thrombosed on a follow-up visit. Breast PSAs may be more common than expected due to their ability to spontaneously resolve and should be considered in patients presenting with a pulsatile breast mass or injury to the breast, especially when accompanied by a history of recent breast trauma or procedure.

Breast Pseudoaneurysm in a Woman after Core Biopsy: Intravascular Glue Embolization

Core needle biopsy of breast masses is a common procedure for tissue diagnosis of breast lesions. The incidence of complications is low, with pseudoaneurysm (PA) after core biopsy has been described in the literature, and the subsequent need for surgical management. Ultrasonography is the most common modality used for not only diagnosis but also treatment of a PA. Color Doppler images show a heterogeneous echoic lesion with whirling flow inside of the lesion. We describe a patient whose breast PA that developed after core needle biopsy was successfully treated with sonographically-guided intravascular glue embolization.

Mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the aortic isthmus secondary to salmonella infection causing a diagnostic dilemma

Mycotic pseudoaneurysms usually arise from an infectious arteritis or mycotic aneurysms secondary to weakening and destruction of the arterial wall resulting in a contained rupture. We report a case of a mycotic pseudoaneurysm affecting the aortic isthmus of the thoracic aorta which is an extremely rare infection. To our knowledge no case report of mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the aortic isthmus secondary to salmonella infection has thus far been described. The specific case we present is also unique in that it posed a diagnostic imaging dilemma where the initial imaging revealed a periaortic mass which could not be accurately characterized and only on subsequent imaging reveal itself to be a thrombosed mycotic pseudoaneurysm. We hope that our case report highlights to the medical community the high degree of suspicion one should have regarding pseudoaneurysms when dealing with a complex mass intimately related to a vascular structure.

A Novel Treatment of Very Rare Anomaly; Breast Pseudoaneurysm Developed During Pregnancy

Pseudoaneurysms (PA) in the arterial supply of the breast are quite rare and mostly iatrogenic secondary to biopsies. Breast PAs after blunt trauma is even rarer. In this paper, a case of breast PAs secondary to blunt trauma and its percutaneous treatment using human thrombin injection and after N-butyl cyanoacrylate is presented.

Spontaneous totally thrombosed pseudoaneurysm mimicking a tendon tear of the wrist

Wrist pseudoaneurysm is commonly caused by iatrogenic procedures such as blood gas puncture, arterial-venous shunting for hemodialysis, or noniatrogenic causes such as blunt trauma. The mechanism of pseudoaneurysm formation is arterial wall damage with subsequent blood leakage that collects in surrounding tissue. This article presents a case of a 32-year-old woman who had sudden onset left wrist pain with a snap sound and a mass 1 cm in diameter after pulling a heavy object while working. A wrist flexor tendon tear was diagnosed after evaluation. Musculoskeletal ultrasound revealed a partially thrombosed pseudoaneurysm. The wrist pseudoaneurysm was totally thrombosed and symptoms subsided after 3 weeks of follow-up. This case study reminds us that pseudoaneurysm could be easily confused with other wrist diseases. We discuss the differential diagnosis and management of wrist pseudoaneurysm as a reference for clinical practice.
