Abstract
G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER) is a membrane-associated estrogen receptor (ER) associated with rapid estrogen-mediated effects. Over recent years GPER emerged has a potential therapeutic target to induce neuroprotection, avoiding the side effects elicited by the activation of classical ERs. The putative neuroprotection triggered by GPER selective activation was demonstrated in mood disorders, Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease of male and female in vivo rodent models. In others, like ischemic stroke, the results are contradictory and currently there is no consensus on the role played by this receptor. However, it seems clear that sex is a biological variable that may impact the results. The major objective of this review is to provide an overview about the physiological effects of GPER in the brain and its putative contribution in neurodegenerative disorders, discussing the data about the signaling pathways involved, as well as, the diverse effects observed.

131I-Induced Graves' disease in patients treated for toxic multinodular goitre: systematic review and descriptive analysis. J Endocrinol Invest 2018; 41:1019-1028. Abstract
BACKGROUND Graves' disease (GD) arising after the treatment of toxic multinodular goitre (TMNG) with radioiodine has long been described but it remained unclear whether GD was in fact iodine induced, its incidence, risk factors, natural history and treatment outcomes. METHODS A systematic search using The Cochrane Library, Medline and PubMed Central allowed the pooling of data from 3633 patients with thyroid autonomy, 1340 patients with TMNG, to fill gaps in knowledge, regarding the clinical expression of iodine-induced GD (131I-IGD) in adults. RESULTS 131I-IGD developed in 0-5.3% of those with thyroid autonomy (first year) and in 5-5.4% of those with TMNG, 3-6 months after treatment. Patients with toxic adenoma were less affected. 131I-IGD was more common in patients with pre-treatment direct or indirect signs of autoimmunity: positive anti-TPO (p < 0.05), glandular hypoechogenicity, TRAbs within reference range, diffuse uptake on 99mTc-pertechnetate scans (p < 0.05), findings that may increase the risk tenfold. 131I-IGD manifested 3 months after 131I, justifying 15.4-29% of cases of relapse. The rate of spontaneous remission was 17-20% (6 months) and the rate of relapse after a second 131I treatment 22-25%. The use of an uptake-based administered 131I activity led to a greater proportion of euthyroid patients (78% compared to 25-50% with the mass-based approach). CONCLUSIONS GD may be triggered by 131I. The incidence of the condition is low. Several risk factors were consistently identified; some have shown to raise the risk significantly. 131I-IGD seems more treatment resistant than iodine-independent GD and the best resolution rates were achieved with uptake-based selected iodine activities.

Abstract
IntroductionThe Eating Attitudes Test-40 (EAT-40) is a valid index of symptoms frequently observed in eating disorders. The EAT-40 was adapted and validated for the Portuguese population. Thereafter a short-version composed of 25 items selected from the exploratory factor analysis (EAT-25) was developed. Apart from the total score, the TAA-25 evaluates three dimensions: Diet, Bulimic Behaviours and Social Pressure to Eat.ObjectiveTo examine the factor structure of the EAT-25 using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in a sample of Portuguese women.MethodsThe sample was composed of 433 women (mean age = 36.07; SD = 15.15). CFA was used to test the model suggested by prior exploratory factor analyses of EAT-25. AMOS software was used.ResultsAfter four items were deleted and some errors were correlated, CFA indicated a good fit for the second-order factor (χ2/df = 3.066; CFI = 0.918; GFI = 0.883, RMSEA = 0.069; P[rmsea ≤ 0.05] < 0.001). The 19-item TAA showed excellent internal consistency (α = 0.91) and the three dimensions presented good Cronbach's alphas (α > 0.80).ConclusionsThese findings suggest that the 21-item TAA model obtained through CFA is a reliable and valid measure to assess disordered eating attitudes among women.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
IntroductionSeveral epidemiological studies have been conducted to document the prevalence and correlates of insomnia. Most of them confirm their high prevalence in the general population, and a gender difference in the risk for insomnia.AimsTo study the role of gender in the relationship between personality (perfectionism and neuroticism) and insomnia ([IG] insomnia group, [ISG] insomnia symptoms group, and [GSG] good sleepers group).MethodsA total of 549 college students (80.1% females) filled in the MPS (Frost et al., 1990; Hewitt and Flett, 1991), EPI (Barton et al., 1992, 1995), and a self-reported questionnaire to assess insomnia symptoms.ResultsNo differences were found between female and male samples, concerning the dimension of perfectionism – doubts about actions. The IG and the ISG showed higher levels of doubts about actions than the GSG. However, only in female sample the IG and the ISG showed higher levels of concern over mistakes in comparison with the GSG. In males, no significant differences between the sleep groups were found, in which respects concern over mistakes. The level of extroversion was higher in the GSG, but only in male sample. In females, there were no significant differences between the sleep groups in relation to extroversion.ConclusionsNo gender differences were found for the role of doubts about actions in insomnia. Only in females, the dimension – concern over mistakes is important in insomnia, and only in males the dimension – extroversion is important to have a good sleep. These results warrant further research.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
IntroductionThe F-Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale is a widely used instrument to assess perfectionism trait. The original scale comprises 35-items that measure the six dimensions of Frost et al (1990) conceptualization of perfectionism: personal standards (PS), concern over mistakes (CM), doubts about actions (DA), parental criticism (PC), Parental expectations (PE) and Organization (O).ObjectiveTo examine the factor structure of the 24-items short form of the F-MPS using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), in a sample of Portuguese university students.MethodsThe sample comprises 344 university students (68.4% females), with an average age of 20.69 years (SD = 1.59; range = 17–24). They completed a version of F-MPS with 24 items that results from the selection of the four items with highest loadings in the respective six dimensions of the original Portuguese version (Amaral et al., 2013).ResultsAfter correlated errors, we obtained a good fit for the FMPS with six factors (X2/df = 2.125; CFI = .936; GFI = .891, RMSEA = .057; P[rmsea≤ .05] = .043). The 24-item F-MPS short form revealed good internal consistency (α = .825). The six dimensions showed acceptable or good internal consistency, as revealed by Cronbach's alpha (α: PS = .80; CM = .76; DA = .82; PC = .84; PE = .89, O = .85).ConclusionsThe F-MPS 24 items short form CFA confirmed the six factor model as a reliable and valid measure to assess multidimensional perfectionism in Portuguese university students.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Control of attention in bipolar disorder: Effects of perceptual load in processing task-irrelevant facial expressions. Eur Psychiatry 2016. Abstract
Bipolar disorder (BD), along with schizophrenia, is one of the most severe psychiatric conditions and is correlated with attentional deficits and emotion dysregulation. Bipolar patients appear to be highly sensitive to the presence of emotional distractors. Yet, no study has investigated whether perceptual load modulates the interference of emotionally distracting information. Our main goal was to test whether bipolar patients are more sensitive to task-irrelevant emotional stimulus, even when the task demands a high amount of attentional resources.Fourteen participants with BD I or BD II and 14 controls, age- and gender-matched, performed a target-letter discrimination task with emotional task-irrelevant stimulus (angry, happy and neutral facial expressions). Target-letters were presented among five distractor-letters, which could be the same (low perceptual load) or different (high perceptual load). Participants should discriminate the target-letter and ignore the facial expression. Response time and accuracy rate were analyzed.Resultsshowed a greater interference of facial stimuli at high load than low load, confirming the effectiveness of perceptual load manipulation. More importantly, patients tarried significantly longer at high load. This is consistent with deficits in control of attention, showing that bipolar patients are more prone to distraction by task-irrelevant stimulus only when the task is more demanding. Moreover, for bipolar patients neutral and angry faces resulted in a higher interference with the task (longer response time), compared to controls, suggesting an attentional bias for neutral and threating social cues. Nevertheless, a more detailed investigation regarding the attentional impairments in social context in BD is needed.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
IntroductionWe have recently found that Perfectionism and Perseverative Negative are both correlates of psychological distress/PD and that PNT mediates the relationship between perfectionism and PD (Macedo et al., 2015).ObjectivesTo investigate if perfectionism and PNT are prospectively associated to PD and if PNT is a longitudinal mediator between perfectionism and PD, controlling for perceived stress and gender.MethodsA total of 227 university students (80.1% girls) filled in the Portuguese validated versions of Perseverative Thinking Questionnaire (PTQ), Multidimensional Perfectionism Cognitions Inventory (MPCI), Profile of Mood States and Perceived Stress Scale, with an additional item to evaluate perceived social support/PSS at T0 and after approximately one year (T1) (Mean months = 12.77 ± 1.137). Only variables significantly correlated with the outcomes (Tension/Anxiety at T1 and Depression at T1) were entered in the conditional process analysis. The moderating role of perceived support on the link between Concern over Mistakes (MPCI) and psychological distress and between PTQ total score and psychological distress (anxiety and depression separately) was examined via conditional process analyses.ResultsThe estimated models were significant (F = 4.257, P = .002; F = 6.476, P < .001) explaining 15.9% of tension-anxiety and 25.5% of depression variance. A significant conditional indirect effect of PTQ total score on psychological distress at average and higher levels of perceived support was found, in both models (anxiety and depression). On the contrary, the two models showed a non-significant conditional direct effect of Concern over Mistakes on psychological distress only at any level of perceived support.ConclusionPNT prospectively mediates the relationship between negative perfectionism and PD.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
IntroductionDepressive symptoms in pregnancy are risk factors for postpartum depression and associated to adverse child outcomes (Glover, 2014). Depressive symptoms decreases after participation in mindfulness and self-compassion based interventions for pregnant women (e.g. Goodman et al., 2014). However, apart from intervention trials, there are not studies on the relationship between mindfulness, self-compassion and depressive symptoms in pregnancy (Zoeterman, 2014).ObjectiveTo explore the association between mindfulness, self-compassion and depressive symptoms in pregnant women.MethodsFour hundred and twenty-seven pregnant women (mean age: 32.56 ± 4.785 years) in their second trimester of pregnancy completed a set of self-report questionnaires validated for pregnancy: Facets of Mindfulness Questionnaire-10 ([FMQ-10]; Azevedo et al., 2015; to evaluate Nonjudging of experience/NJ, acting with awareness (AA) and observing and describing (OD), Self-Compassion Scale ([SCS]; Bento et al., 2015; to evaluate self-kindness, self-judgment, common humanity [CH], isolation, mindfulness and over-identification [OD]) and Postpartum Depression Screening Scale-24 (PDSS-24; Pereira et al., 2013). Only variables significantly correlated with the outcomes were entered in the multiple regression models.ResultsFMQ-10 and SCS Total scores were both significant predictors of PDSS-24 (B = –0.294,–0.272). Derealization and failure predictors were NJ and Isolation (B = –0.234; 0.384); Suicidal ideation predictor was NJ, OD and isolation (B = –0.152;–0.115; 0.334); concentration difficulties and anxiety predictors were isolation and CH (B = 0.296;–0.201); Sleep difficulties predictors were AA and isolation (B = –0.199; 0.248) (all P < 0.05).ConclusionsMindfulness and self-Ccompassion dimensions, particularly nonjudging of experience, acting with awareness, observing and describing are protective correlates of antenatal depressive symptoms. Isolation is a correlate of PD in pregnancy.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
IntroductionIn a recent study developed with a community sample, we have found that although PNT mediated the relationship between perfectionist cognitions and bulimic behavior, the effect of perfectionism on other disordered eating dimensions, such as diet, was independent of the PNT levels (Monteiro et al., 2015).ObjectiveTo investigate if PNT mediates the relationship between perfectionism and disordered eating behaviors in a clinical sample.MethodsFifty-two patients with eating disorders/ED (mean age = 22.54 ± 7.637; mean BMI = 20.07 ± 4.192; 14.5% Anorexia Nervosa cases; 7.8% Bulimia Nervosa and 9.0% EDNOS) were assessed with the ED section of the Diagnostic Interview for Genetic Studies and fill in the Portuguese validated versions of Eating Attitudes Test/EAT-25 (to evaluate Bulimic behaviors/BB, Diet and Social pressure to eat), Multidimensional Perfectionism Scales (to evaluate perfectionism composite dimensions Evaluative Concerns/EC and Perfectionistic Strivings/PS) and Perseverative Thinking Questionnaire/PTQ-15 (to evaluate Repetitive Thought/RT, Cognitive interference and unproductiveness/CIU). Only variables significantly correlated with the outcomes (EAT-25_Total and its dimensions) were entered in the regression models. Mediation analyses using Preacher and Hayes bootstrapping methodology were performed.ResultsEC, PS, CIU and RT were significant predictors of EAT_Total. PA, CIU and PR were significant predictors of BB. EC and PS were significant predictors of Diet. CIU partially mediated the relationship between EC and EAT_Total (95% CI = 0.0025–0.3296) and between EC and BB (95% CI = 0.0037–0.1877).ConclusionAlso in a clinical sample, CII, the most pernicious dimension of PNT, mediates the relationship between perfectionism and disordered eating behavior, particularly bulimic behavior; diet is predicted by perfectionism independently of PNT.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract
The present study evaluated the effect of progesterone supplementation during a double PGF2α injection synchronization protocol on pregnancy per artificial insemination (P/AI) and on the incidence of twin births. Seven hundred and eighty three dairy cows were synchronized with two injections of PGF2α 14 days apart, starting on day 35 postpartum for their first postpartum insemination. Six days before the second PGF2α injection, cows were treated either with a progesterone-releasing intravaginal device (PRID-Delta) and an intramuscular injection of 500mg of progesterone (n=387) or served as control (n=396) and did not receive progesterone treatment. Cows were inseminated 12h after being detected in estrus. Pregnancy was diagnosed 40-45 days later by transrectal palpation. Progesterone administration improved (P<0.05) the percentage of cows detected in estrus in multiparous [(192/255) 75% vs (161/267) 60%], but not in primiparous cows [93/132 (70%) vs 90/129 (70%)]. Progesterone treatment increased P/AI in multiparous [53/192 (28%) vs 27/161 (17%)] but not in primiparous cows [25/93 (27%) vs 29/90 (32%)]. The incidence of twin births tended to be lower (P=0.09) in cows treated with progesterone [1/74 (1%)] than in the control group [4/53 (7%)]. It is concluded that progesterone administration during estrus synchronization with two PGF2α injections in dairy cows improves estral response and increases P/AI in multiparous, but not in primiparous cows, and tended to decrease the incidence of twin births.

Abstract
PURPOSES To analyze which Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and Postpartum Depression Screening Scores (PDSS) total and dimensional scores, as well as symptomatic answers proportions significantly differ between women in the perinatal period (pregnant/postpartum) without major depression, with major depression and women outside the perinatal period. METHODS 572 pregnant women in the third trimester completed Beck Depression Inventory-II and Postpartum Depression Screening Scale and were assessed with the Diagnostic Interview for Genetic Studies. 417 of these were also assessed (with the same instruments) at three months postpartum. Ninety non-pregnant women or that did not have a child in the last year (mean age=29.42±7.159 years) also filled in the questionnaires. RESULTS Non-depressed pregnant women showed lower scores than depressed pregnant women and higher scores than women outside the perinatal period in the BDI-II total score and in its Somatic-Anxiety dimension. Non-depressed postpartum women showed significantly higher scores than women outside the perinatal period only at Sleep/Eating Disturbances. Compared to women outside the perinatal period, pregnant women without depression presented higher scores only in the somatic items. Women with vs. without depression in the postpartum period did not significantly differ and both presented higher scores than women outside the perinatal period in the proportions of loss of energy and sleep changes. LIMITATIONS Women outside the perinatal period were not diagnosed for the presence of a depressive disorder, but their BDI-II mean score was similar to the figures reported worldwide regarding women in childbearing age. CONCLUSION In the perinatal period, most particularly at pregnancy, women experience significant somatic changes even if not clinically depressed. Cognitive-affective symptoms are more useful when assessing the presence of perinatal depression.

The present study tested whether the increase in serum progesterone concentrations for 6 days before oestrus synchronization with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2) increases oestral response, pregnancy rate, and reduces the incidence of twin births in dairy cattle. Seven hundred and eighty-three first-service dairy cows were synchronized with 2 injections of PGF2 14 days apart, starting on Day 35 postpartum. Six days before the second PGF2 injection, cows were assigned to 2 groups: P4 and control. The P4 group (n = 387) received a progesterone-releasing intravaginal device and an intramuscular injection of 500 mg of progesterone. The control group (n = 396) did not receive the progesterone-releasing intravaginal device or progesterone injection. Cows were inseminated 12 h after exhibiting oestrus. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed 40 and 45 days after insemination by rectal palpation and the cumulative pregnancy rate on Day 90 postpartum was determined retrospectively through the individual records. The response to the progesterone treatment varied according to the parity of the cows (P < 0.05). Thus, progesterone administration improved the percentage of cows detected in oestrus in multiparous [192/255 (75.2%) v. 161/267 (60.2%)] but not in primiparous [93/132 (70.4%) v. 90/129 (69.7%)] cows. Progesterone treatment increased pregnancy rate in multiparous [53/192 (27.6%) v. 27/161 (16.7%)] but not in primiparous cows [25/93 (26.8%) v. 29/90 (32.2%)]. Likewise, progesterone administration increased the cumulative percentage of pregnant cows on day 90 postpartum in multiparous [149/255 (58.4%) v. 129/267 (48.3%)] but not in primiparous cows [77/132 (58.3%) v. 82/129 (63.5%)]. The incidence of twin births was lower (P = 0.07) in cows treated with progesterone [1/74 (1%)] than in the control group [4/53 (7%)]. It is concluded that progesterone administration before oestrus synchronization with PGF2 in first service dairy cows improves oestral response, increases pregnancy rate, and percentage of pregnant animals on Day 90 postpartum in multiparous cows, but not in primiparous cows, and decreases the incidence of twin births.

Abstract
Magnetic resonance (MR) cystography or MR-based virtual cystoscopy is a promising new technology to evaluate the entire bladder in a fully noninvasive manner. It requires the anatomical bladder images be acquired at high spatial resolution and with adequate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). This often leads to a long-time scan (>5 min) and results in image artifacts due to involuntary bladder motion and deformation. In this paper, we investigated an image-processing approach to mitigate the problem of motion and deformation. Instead of a traditional single long-time scan, six repeated short-time scans (each of approximately 1 min) were acquired for the purpose of shifting bladder motion from intrascan into interscans. Then, the interscan motions were addressed by registering the short-time scans to a selected reference and finally forming a single average motion-corrected image. To evaluate the presented approach, three types of images were generated: 1) the motion-corrected image by registration and average of the short-time scans; 2) the directly averaged image of the short-time scans (without motion correction); and 3) the single image of the corresponding long-time scan. Six experts were asked to blindly score these images in terms of two important aspects: 1) the definition of the bladder wall and 2) the overall expression on the image quality. Statistical analysis on the scores suggested that the best result in both the aspects is achieved by the presented motion-corrected average. Furthermore, the superiority of the motion-corrected average over the other two is statistically significant by the measure of a linear mixed-effect model with p -values < 0.05. Our findings may facilitate the detection of bladder abnormality in MR cystography by mitigating the motion challenge. The effectiveness of this approach depends on the noise level of acquired short-time scans and the robustness of image registration, and future effort on these two aspects is needed.

Abstract
Ectopic posterior pituitary hyperintensity on MRI is a common feature associated with growth hormone deficiency. The presence of at least some residual components of the pituitary stalk is necessary for adequate anterior pituitary function. Little is known about long-term change in pituitary function or MRI findings in patients with ectopic posterior pituitary and interrupted pituitary stalk. We describe a case of childhood growth hormone deficiency and hyperprolactinemia associated with absent pituitary stalk. As an adult, prolactin levels normalized and GH secretion improved associated with changes in MRI findings.

Abstract
1554 Background: Glioblastoma multiforme is one of the most resistant malignant tumors. Surgery provides only temporary, palliative relief. Radiation therapy affords additional, though short, benefit. Systemic, intravenous and/or oral chemotherapy with nitrosoureas and TMZ, increases survival only slightly. Median survival (MS) after all these modalities incorporated remains unimpressive, less than 14 months. Intracarotid chemotherapy with cisplatin and VP-16, a standard treatment at Stony Brook University Hospital since 1999, prior to RT, results in MS of 20 months. A year later we added TMZ as a part of standard treatment with or without ICC in patients with GBM. Provided here is a retrospective analysis of the treatment consisting of surgery, ICC, RT with concomitant TMZ followed by 2 years of TMZ maintenance. Methods: Fifteen patients with pathologically confirmed, newly diagnosed GBM were treated from year 2000 to 2005; 11 men; median age 53 (range 25-68); 80% with PS over 70. They underwent a surgical procedure (5 near total) followed by ICC with cisplatin 60 mg/m2 and VP-16 40 mg/m2 every 3 weeks for total of 3 cycles. Subsequently they received TMZ 75 mg/m2/day orally, concomitantly with RT 6120–6300 cGY, followed a month later by maintenance therapy with TMZ 200 mg/m2/ daily for 5 days out of each month for 2 years or until progression. Results: Fourteen pts.are being evaluated (one too early), all have survived at least 12 months.One-year PFS is 79%. Median time to progression is 19.5 months; MS is 25 months with a range of 12-48 months. Toxicity is limited to nausea and vomiting mainly grade 1-2; only 1 patient experienced grade 3 vomiting with subsequent TMZ maintenance dose reduction by about 10%. Conclusions: Surgery followed by ICC, then combination of RT + TMZ followed by maintenance TMZ therapy seems to be more effective in improving patient survival than surgery, ICC and RT as reported previously by us in pts with GBM (Cancer 2000; 10:2350–6). This treatment has been well tolerated. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

Abstract
Thymolipoma is an uncommon benign tumor (accounting for 2% to 9% of thymus tumors). We present the case of a 26-year-old man who sought medical attention for left-sided pleural pain of 3 months duration. Computed tomography showed a mass in the left side of the chest occupying both the anterior mediastinum and the left pleural cavity. This mass caused lung collapse and mediastinal shift. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large fatty tumor and transthoracic biopsy with radiological guidance confirmed the diagnosis. The tumor was resected through a left thoracotomy. No postsurgical complications occurred and the histopathological diagnosis was thymolipoma.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To relate neuropsychological performance to measures of cerebral injury in persons with MS selected for cognitive impairment. METHODS Participants were 37 individuals with relapsing-remitting (59.5%) and secondary progressive (40.5%) MS. They were tested at baseline as part of a clinical trial to enhance cognition with an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Eligibility criteria included at least mild cognitive impairment on a verbal learning and memory task. A modified Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests formed the core of the behavioral protocol. Neuroimaging measures were central (ventricular) cerebral atrophy, lesion volume, and ratios of N-acetyl aspartate (NAA) to both creatine and choline. RESULTS A clear, consistent relation was found between cognitive and MR measures. Among neuroimaging measures, central atrophy displayed the highest correlations with cognition, accounting for approximately half the variance in overall cognitive performance. NAA ratios in right hemisphere sites displayed larger correlations than those on the left. Multiple regression models combining the MR measures accounted for well over half the variance in overall cognitive performance. The Symbol Digit Modalities Test was the neuropsychological task most strongly associated with the neuroimaging variables. CONCLUSIONS If a strong and stable association can be firmly established between cognitive and MR variables in appropriate subsets of MS patients, it might aid in the investigation of interventions to enhance cognition and modify the course of the disease.
