Abstract
Chronic restraint stress induces cognitive abnormalities through changes in synapses and oxidant levels in the amygdala and hippocampus. Given the neuroprotective effects of fruit of Terminalia chebula (Halileh) in different experimental models, the present investigation aimed to address whether Terminalia chebula is able to reduce chronic restraint stress-induced behavioral, synaptic and oxidant markers in the rat model. Thirty-two male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups as follows: control (did not receive any treatment and were not exposed to stress), stress (restraint stress for 2 h a day for 14 consecutive days), Terminalia chebula (received 200 mg/kg hydroalcoholic extract of Terminalia chebula), and stress + Terminalia chebula groups (received 200 mg/kg extract of Terminalia chebula twenty minutes before stress) (n = 8 in each group). We used the shuttle box test to assess learning and memory, Golgi-Cox staining to examine dendritic spine density in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus and the basolateral and central nuclei of the amygdala, and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and total oxidant status (TOS) in the brain. The shuttle box test results demonstrated that Terminalia chebula treatment had a profound positive effect on memory parameters, including step-through latency (STL) and time spent in the dark room, when compared to the stress group. Daily oral treatment with Terminalia chebula effectively suppressed the loss of neural spine density in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus and the basolateral and central nuclei of the amygdala caused by chronic restraint stress, as demonstrated by Golgi-Cox staining. Additionally, the results indicate that Terminalia chebula significantly reduced the TOS and increased TAC in the brain compared to the stress group. In conclusion, our results suggest that Terminalia chebula improved memory impairment and synaptic loss in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and the basolateral and central nuclei of the amygdala induced by restraint stress via inhibiting oxidative damage.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is a major cause of death worldwide. Colorectal cancer is the second most common type. Additional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be recommended. Developing new techniques is vital due to drug resistance and a lack of targeted therapies. OBJECTIVE In this study, the effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) loaded with oncolytic Coxsackievirus A21 (CVA21) on a mouse model of CRC were investigated. METHODS The therapeutic potency of MSCs loaded with oncolytic CVA21 was evaluated in an experimental mouse model of colorectal cancer which received an injection CT26 cells per mouse subcutaneously. Splenocyte proliferation index, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay, nitric oxide (NO) production assessment, and cytokine assay (IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-10, and TGF-β) in the splenocyte supernatant were all used to evaluate the impact of MSCs loaded with CVA21. RESULTS The results of this study showed that the treatment of a mouse model of colorectal cancer with MSCs loaded with oncolytic CVA21 could significantly suppress the tumor growth, which was accompanied by stimulation of splenocytes proliferation index, an increase of NO and LDH. Also, MSCs loaded with oncolytic CVA21 increased the secretion of IFN-γ and decreased the secretion of IL-4, IL-10, and TGF-β. CONCLUSION The results of the current study suggest that MSCs loaded with oncolytic CVA21 therapy for the CRC mouse model may have some potential advantages. On the other hand, the results of the study showed that, in addition to activating the acquired immune system, the use of MSCs loaded with oncolytic CVA21 also stimulates the innate immune system by increasing levels of nitric oxide.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is a frequent malignancy with a high mortality rate. Specific inherited and environmental influences can affect CRC. Oncolytic viruses and bacteria in treating CRC are one of the innovative therapeutic options. This study aims to determine whether mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) infected with the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) in combination with Lactobacillus casei extract (L. casei) have a synergistic effects on CRC cell line growth. MATERIALS AND METHODS MSCs taken from the bone marrow of BALB/c mice and were infected with the 20 MOI of NDV. Then, using the CT26 cell line in various groups as a single and combined treatment, the anticancer potential of MSCs containing the NDV and L. casei extract was examined. The evaluations considered the CT26 survival and the rate at which LDH, ROS, and levels of caspases eight and nine were produced following various treatments. RESULTS NDV, MSCs-NDV, and L. casei in alone or combined treatment significantly increased apoptosis percent, LDH, and ROS production compared with the control group (P˂0.05). Also, NDV, in free or capsulated in MSCs, had anticancer effects, but in capsulated form, it had a delay compared with free NDV. The findings proved that L. casei primarily stimulates the extrinsic pathway, while NDV therapy promotes apoptosis through the activation of both intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis pathways. CONCLUSIONS The results suggest that MSCs carrying oncolytic NDV in combination with L. casei extract as a potentially effective strategy for cancer immunotherapy by promoting the generation of LDH, ROS, and apoptosis in the microenvironment of the CT26 cell line.

Abstract
Background and purpose Prostate cancer is the second cause of death among men. Nowadays, treating various cancers with medicinal plants is more common than other therapeutic agents due to their minor side effects. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of taraxasterol on the prostate cancer cell line. Experimental approach The prostate cancer cell line (PC3) was cultured in a nutrient medium. MTT method and trypan blue staining were used to evaluate the viability of cells in the presence of different concentrations of taraxasterol, and IC50 was calculated. Real-time PCR was used to measure the expression of MMP-9, MMP-2, uPA, uPAR, TIMP-2, and TIMP-1 genes. Gelatin zymography was used to determine MMP-9 and MMP-2 enzyme activity levels. Finally, the effect of taraxasterol on cell invasion, migration, and adhesion was investigated. Findings/Results Taraxasterol decreased the survival rate of PC3 cells at IC50 time-dependently (24, 48, and 72 h). Taraxasterol reduced the percentage of PC3 cell adhesion, invasion, and migration by 74, 56, and 76 percent, respectively. Real-time PCR results revealed that uPA, uPAR, MMP-9, and MMP-2 gene expressions decreased in the taraxasterol-treated groups, but TIMP-2 and TIMP-1 gene expressions increased significantly. Also, a significant decrease in the level of MMP-9 and MMP-2 enzymes was observed in the PC3 cell line treated with taraxasterol. Conclusion and implications The present study confirmed the therapeutic role of taraxasterol in preventing prostate cancer cell metastasis in the in-vitro study.

Abstract
Macrophage M2 (MP2)-based cell therapy is a novel medicinal treatment for animals with Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE) as an experimental model of multiple sclerosis (MS). This systematic review and meta-analysis study was designed to assess the overall therapeutic effects of MP2 cell therapy on Clinical Score and motor impairment in EAE-induced animals. All experiments on MP2 cell therapy in animals with EAE were gathered (by October 2, 2022) from English (PubMed, Scopus, WoS, Science Direct, and ISC) and Persian (MagIran and SID) databases. The searching strategy was designed using "Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis," "Multiple Sclerosis," and "Macrophage M2" keywords. Following primary and secondary screenings, eligible papers were selected based on the PRISMA 2020 guideline, and the study quality was assessed using the Animal Research: Reporting of In Vivo Experiments (ARRIVE) checklist. The difference in means of Clinical Score (score 0-5) as the effect size (ES) was analyzed based on the random effect model (CMA software, v.2). Subgrouping (EAE phases of Onset, Peak, and Recovery) was applied, and I2 index was used to assess the heterogeneity index. Publication bias and sensitivity indices were also evaluated. P < 0.05 was considered significant, and the confidence interval (CI) was determined 95%. Among 22 gathered papers, medium to high quality studies were selected for meta-analysis. Difference in means, P value, and I2 for Onset, Peak, and Recovery phases were 0.082 (CI95%: -0.323-0.159, P value: 0.504, I2 : 67.961%), -0.606 (CI95%: -1.518 to -0.305, P value: 0.192, I2 : 96.070%), and -1.103 (CI95%: -1.390 to -0.816, P value: 0.000, I2 : 30.880%), respectively and Overall Effect was found -0.509 (CI95%: -0.689 to -0.328, P value < 0.001). Also, P value (two-tailed) indices for publication bias were 0.366 and 0.583 for Egger's regression intercept and Begg rank correlation, respectively. The P value for sensitivity was detected 0.003. Cell therapy procedure using MP2 can potentially alleviate the Clinical Scores Index and correct the motor defects in Recovery phase of EAE animals. In healthy mice, the brain and myelin surrounding neurons are in a healthy and physiological state (1). To evaluate MS in humans, it is necessary to model this type of disease in animals using EAE procedure through subcutaneous injection of CFA, MOG35-55 , MT, and Pert. Thus, inflammation and autoimmunity occur, which finally lead to myelin destruction and motor symptoms (2). By aspiration of progenitor cells available in bone marrow, the MP2 can be isolated and cultured. By activation of these types of cells, a rich collection of MP2 can be prepared for the cell-therapy process (3). After injection through the tail vein or intra-peritoneal procedure, these cells can be located in CNS through crossing from the BBB. They begin their anti-inflammatory activities and help repair the damaged myelin (4). Eventually, the clinical symptoms can be modified considerably, and the animal motor function improves (5). Abstract
BACKGROUND Allergic asthma is a chronic inflammatory illness of the respiratory system characterized by an increase in the number of inflammatory cells in the airways and trouble breathing. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have the potential to be used in inflammatory diseases as a cellular immunosuppressive treatment. They express calcitriol receptors and communicate with other immunocytes, which increases their anti-inflammatory activity. This study aimed to determine the effects of calcitriol-treated MSC treatment on allergic asthma pathways in a mouse model. METHODS To generate a mouse model of asthma, the mice were sensitized intraperitoneally with ovalbumin (OVA) and aluminum hydroxide emulsion and then challenged intra-nasally with OVA. On day 14, experimental mice received tail vein injections of calcitriol-treated MSCs in PBS prior to allergen exposure. The cytokines assays including IL-4, 10, 12, 17, TGF-β and IFN-γ, splenocytes proliferation, and histological examination of lungs samples were performed. The mice were sensitized with OVA and the response to dexamethasone treatment was compared. RESULTS Calcitriol-treated MSCs significantly increased the levels of IL-12, TGF-β, and IFN-γ compared to non-treated MSCs groups. Moreover, calcitriol-treated and non-treated MSCs significantly decreased IL-4 and IL-17 compared to asthmatic groups. The results of the histopathological examination showed that calcitriol-treated MSCs reduced the accumulation of inflammatory cells and bronchial wall thickening in comparison with the asthma group. CONCLUSION Using the allergic asthma model, we were able to show that calcitriol-treated MSCs had an inhibitory impact on airway inflammation. Our findings suggest that the injection of calcitriol-treated MSCs may be a viable treatment option for allergic asthma.

Abstract
The global rate of cancer has increased in recent years, and cancer is still a threat to human health. Recent developments in cancer treatment have yielded the understanding that viruses have a high potential in cancer treatment. Using oncolytic viruses (OVs) is a promising approach in the treatment of malignant tumors. OVs can achieve their targeted treatment effects through selective cell death and induction of specific antitumor immunity. Targeting tumors and the mechanism for killing cancer cells are among the critical roles of OVs. Therefore, evaluating OVs and understanding their precise mechanisms of action can be beneficial in cancer therapy. This review study aimed to evaluate OVs and the mechanisms of their effects on cancer cells.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system (CNS) and causes individuals to experience a variety of cognitive and physical problems. As proven by two decades of clinical experience with immunomodulatory therapies for MS, the disease progresses and relapses through several immunological pathways. New medicines aimed at remyelination and neurodegeneration are being developed; however, they need stronger evidence before being introduced into routine clinical care. The purpose of this study was a thorough assessment of MS immunopathology and predictive biomarkers. METHODS Immunotherapy, immunopathogenesis, and prognostic biomarkers were all parts of the search method. Only publications in English were considered for inclusion in the study. For that purpose, we went through the current state of knowledge around MS immunopathology and related biomarkers. Immunology, as well as the identification of increased inflammation as an important component of neurodegeneration, shaped our understanding of this disease aetiology. The relevant sources examined covered the years 2015-2021. CONCLUSION We found biomarkers in the cerebrospinal fluid and blood that might be used for the prediction and diagnosis of MS, as well as for measuring treatment response and adverse effects. Many variables, including the role of some infectious organisms and the impact of environmental and social factors, might contribute to the immunological dysfunctions seen in MS. Patients with MS may benefit from better therapy options if a better understanding of MS biomarkers and immune response mechanisms would be obtained.

Abstract
Objective — Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease usually affecting the innermost lining of the colon and rectum. Both corticosteroids and anti-inflammatory drugs are administrated as medical treatment for UC. However, these drugs, in addition to chemical side effects, impose exorbitant costs on patients. Therefore, extensive studies are underway to find new treatment approaches. This study aims to determine the effect of calcitriol-treated mesenchymal stem cells in the UC treatment. Material and Methods — This experimental study was performed on 50 Wistar rats with inducing ulcerative colitis model by 4% acetic acid. MSCs were isolated from rat bone marrow and proliferated in an appropriate medium. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were injected intraperitoneally. Symptom severity of this disease was evaluated using the factors, such as stool consistency, fecal blood and histopathological study of colon tissue. Furthermore, the levels of myeloperoxidase, nitric oxide and inflammatory cytokines like IL1, IL6 and TNF-α were measured using ELISA technique. Results — The results showed that calcitriol-treated MSCs, significantly reduced the production of inflammatory cytokines including IL-1 (150.22±29.04)(P<0.01), IL-6 (681±56.20)(P<0.01), TNF-α (53.07±11.30)(P<0.01) and significantly decrease in level of NO (12.86±5.65)(P<0.01), MPO (0.175±0.024)(P<0.01) and the destruction of intestinal crypts compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions — It seems that using calcitriol with MSCs has reduced the symptoms of UC in our experimental model. Due to their ease of isolation and expansion, MSCs can be used as an adjunctive therapy to improve the condition of patients with UC colitis.

Abstract
Infertility is one of the most common problems in the world that has negative effects on society and infertile people. Among the various causes of infertility, male infertility accounts for almost half of all infertility cases. Despite advances in medicine, current male infertility treatments such as assisted reproductive technology (ART) have not been successful in treating all types of male infertility. Recently, stem cells have been considered as therapeutic targets for many diseases, including infertility, due to their self-renewing and high differentiation. The purpose of this review is to discuss different types of male infertility and the effect of various stem cells against the treatment of male infertility.

Abstract
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is one of the most common cancers of the endocrine system. Previous studies have shown that the extract of hull-less pumpkin seed (HLPS) has a significant anti-cancer effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of this plant extract on the proliferation of PTC cells. In this study, an extract of this plant was prepared by soxhlet extraction method and analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The cytotoxicity of PTX and plant extract was investigated using the methylthiazol tetrazolium (MTT) method. For careful investigation of morphological alteration, we used hematoxylin and eosin and Giemsa stinging. Based on MTT assay test, the IC50 value of paclitaxel (PTX) was significantly less than the hydro-alcoholic extract of HLPS at all of the incubation time. Our results of histological staining showed that HLPS and PTX induced significant morphological alteration in the PTC cultured cell that consistent with cell death. Comparing the groups treated by PTX or HLPS with control group showed significant differences. It seems that HLPS extract has an apparent effect on treatment of PTC, at least in laboratory condition, albeit for realistic decision about the effect of HLPS on PTC, more molecular investigations are necessary.

Abstract
Takayasu's arteritis, formerly known as "pulseless disease", is a chronic inflammatory disease which affects the aorta and its main branches. The prevalence of this disease is higher in Asian countries and among young women. Depending on the progress of the disease, the symptoms and prognosis of the disease is different. Herein, we report the case of a 31-year-old woman with Takayasu's arteritis in the Iranian population. In this case, the size of the aorta and the main branches increased and the large artery walls were thickened. Narrowing of the right and left subclavian artery, carotid artery and left vertebral artery were obvious in these patients. In addition, an anatomic variation was observed in the aortic arch branches. In this patient, the left vertebral artery was branched directly from the aortic arch instead of the left subclavian artery. Hepatomegaly and splenomegaly, indicating a chronic inflammatory disease, were also observed in this case.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective and therapeutic effects of aqueous extract of P. atlantica gum on an experimental asthma in BALB/c mice. MATERIALS AND METHODS Aqueous extract of dried and milled P. atlantica gum was assemble and evaluate by GC-MS. In order to investigate the effect of P. atlantica gum extract on cellular and pathological aspects of asthma, 60 BALB/c mice were divided into six groups as: negative control, asthmatic group, asthmatic group receiving dexamethasone (1mg/kg; intraperitoneal (IP)) and three asthmatic groups receiving different concentrations of the extract (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg, orally) from the beginning of the study and continued for 84 days. The examined parameters included cell population, IgE antibody production, levels of IL-4, IL-5, TGF-β, INF-γ, IL-10, and IL-17 cytokines, and lung tissue damage. RESULTS Regardless of the dose, aqueous extract of P. atlantica gum, caused significant decrease in the number of BALF eosinophilic cells and levels of anti-ovalbumin IgE, IL-4, IL-5 and IL-17 cytokine levels, as well as pathologic damage of the lung tissue. In addition, the amount of anti-inflammatory IL-10, TGF-β, and INF-γ Th1 cytokines significantly increased in the extract-treated groups compared to the asthmatic and dexamethasone-treated groups. Moreover, IFN-γ/IL-4 ratio significantly increased in a dose-dependent manner compared to the un-treated asthma group. CONCLUSION The aqueous extract of P. atlantica gum can be considered as a potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory compound and may be used as a natural compound for treatment of immune system disorders.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The circle of Willis, an anastomotic polygon at the base of the brain, forms an important collateral network to maintain cerebral blood perfusion. The aim of this study was to investigate different anatomic variations of the circle of Willis and their prevalence. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on 525 healthy participants including 205 men and 320 women. The mean age of the patients was 51.5 years. Three-dimensional time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (3D-TOF MRA) technique was used. Vascular variations in the anterior and posterior parts of the circle were evaluated. RESULTS The findings show that the complete circle of Willis was visible in a small number of patients. The circle of Willis had a complete vascular structure in 20.9% of the patients. The anterior part of the circle of Willis had a complete structure in 80.95% of the cases, while the posterior part had a complete structure in 20.95% of the cases. CONCLUSION We observed wide variations in the circle of Willis configuration in our study. Similar to other studies, most variations are related to the posterior part of the circle of Willis. Absence of bilateral posterior communicating artery variation is more common than other types of variations in this population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The branch anatomy of the aortic arch varies widely between individuals. These are likely due to alterations in the development of aortic arch arteries during the embryonic period. The purpose of this study is to determine the frequency of the aortic arch branch variations in the local population and provide useful data to intervention radiologists, neck and thoracic surgeons. METHODS In this study, branching pattern of the aortic arch in 226 patients was retrospectively evaluated by MR angiography. MRA performed on a high field 3 Tesla MRI scanner using 3D flash sequence. RESULTS The normal aortic arch branching pattern was observed in 192 patients (84.9%). Also, three variations of the aortic arch branching pattern were observed. The aortic arch in 12.4% of the patients had two arterial branches. In 0.9% of cases, the left vertebral artery originated directly from the aortic arch. In 1.8% of cases, the right subclavian artery originated as the fourth aortic arch branch. CONCLUSION Although the number of cases with aortic arch branches variation in our study is similar to other studies, the Bovine aortic arch variation is more common than other variations of aortic arch branches.
