Study of High-Transverse-Momentum Higgs Boson Production in Association with a Vector Boson in the qqbb Final State with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131802. [PMID: 38613283 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.132.131802] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/14/2023] [Accepted: 02/26/2024] [Indexed: 04/14/2024]
Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Personal, financial and time burden in inherited ichthyoses: A survey of 144 patients in a university-based setting. J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol 2024. [PMID: 38523469 DOI: 10.1111/jdv.19804] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/26/2023] [Accepted: 11/14/2023] [Indexed: 03/26/2024]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with inherited ichthyosis suffer from scaling due to mutations affecting the epidermal barrier. Symptomatic treatment with ointments, bathing and mechanical scale removal can alleviate the disease, but therapy is time and cost intensive. OBJECTIVES We investigated costs, time and disease burden of ichthyoses. The study addresses difficulties of the healthcare situation for patients with ichthyoses and reveals potential improvements. MATERIALS AND METHODS We developed a questionnaire addressing time and financial effort for the treatment. Additionally, we collected data of the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and the Pruritus Life Quality (5PLQ) questionnaires to determine the impact of ichthyosis and associated pruritus on quality of life (QoL). RESULTS We recruited 144 patients with ichthyosis (median age: 23; 53.5% female) from the Department of Dermatology in Muenster (Germany) and the German patient support group including common, rare and syndromic subtypes. Eighty-seven percent reported applying topical therapeutics at least once per day, 66.4% several times with an overall median duration of 15 min. Highest single expenditure of time was due to balneotherapy (n = 115; median bathing time: 40 min). In 81.9%, the health insurance did not completely cover the costs for topical treatment causing additional financial burden to the patient with a median of 71 € per quarter, herein creams being the largest cost factor (50 €). Patients with Netherton syndrome showed the highest median expenditure (170 €). The QoL impairment under treatment was moderate (median DLQI: 8.5 points). Pruritus was prevalent in 79.9% and showed a distinct impact on QoL (median 5PLQ: 7.5 points) without any significant difference between the subtypes (p = 0.37). CONCLUSION Patients suffering from ichthyoses have a large and lifelong overall burden in mild and severe subtypes. Since continuous topical treatment is required, financial and psychosocial support needs to be considered beyond dermatological care.

Measurement of the Centrality Dependence of the Dijet Yield in p+Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:102301. Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Search for New Phenomena in Two-Body Invariant Mass Distributions Using Unsupervised Machine Learning for Anomaly Detection at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector. Abstract
Searches for new resonances are performed using an unsupervised anomaly-detection technique. Events with at least one electron or muon are selected from 140 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded by ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider. The approach involves training an autoencoder on data, and subsequently defining anomalous regions based on the reconstruction loss of the decoder. Studies focus on nine invariant mass spectra that contain pairs of objects consisting of one light jet or b jet and either one lepton (e,μ), photon, or second light jet or b jet in the anomalous regions. No significant deviations from the background hypotheses are observed. Limits on contributions from generic Gaussian signals with various widths of the resonance mass are obtained for nine invariant masses in the anomalous regions.

Abstract
Heart failure is a chronic condition that affects millions of people worldwide and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Remote monitoring, which includes the use of non-invasive connected devices, cardiac implantable electronic devices and haemodynamic monitoring systems, has the potential to improve outcomes for patients with heart failure. Despite the conceptual and clinical advantages, there are still limitations in the widespread use of these technologies. Moreover, a significant proportion of studies evaluating the benefit of remote monitoring in heart failure have focused on the limited area of prevention of rehospitalization after an episode of acute heart failure. A group of experts in the fields of heart failure and digital health worked on this topic in order to provide a practical paper for the use of remote monitoring in clinical practice at the different stages of the heart failure syndrome: (1) discovery of heart failure; (2) acute decompensation of chronic heart failure; (3) heart failure in stable period; and (4) advanced heart failure. A careful and critical analysis of the available literature was performed with the aim of providing caregivers with some recommendations on when and how to use remote monitoring in these different situations, specifying which variables are essential, optional or useless.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WZγ production and a measurement of its cross section using 140.1±1.2 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The WZγ production cross section, with both the W and Z bosons decaying leptonically, pp→WZγ→ℓ^{'}^{±}νℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}γ (ℓ^{(^{'})}=e, μ), is measured in a fiducial phase-space region defined such that the leptons and the photon have high transverse momentum and the photon is isolated. The cross section is found to be 2.01±0.30(stat)±0.16(syst) fb. The corresponding standard model predicted cross section calculated at next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and at leading order in the electroweak coupling constant is 1.50±0.06 fb. The observed significance of the WZγ signal is 6.3σ, compared with an expected significance of 5.0σ.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of switching from transrectal to transperineal prostate biopsy (TPPBx) by urologists with no previous experience with TPPBx. Material A monocentric clinical study with exhaustive and consecutive inclusions was conducted between January and November 2021, including 105 consecutive patients who underwent TPPBx performed by two senior urologists with no previous experience of TPPBx (GR, FB). Biopsies were performed under local anesthesia (LA) without antibioprophylaxis. The main objective was to assess the safety of this procedure. Adverse events were classified according to the Clavien-Dindo score. The secondary objectives were to assess the level of pain experienced during the different steps of the procedure using a numerating rating scale (NRS), the rate of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) detected, and the level of anxiety using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD). RESULTS No major complications (Clavien-Dindo score≥3) were reported. One patient presented with acute urinary retention (1%) and a urinary tract infection (1%). Other adverse events were hematuria (43%), hemospermia (23%), rectal bleeding (1%), perineal hematoma (3%), persistent perineal pain (5%), and de novo erectile dysfunction (2%). The median level of pain on NRS for the procedure was 2.00 (IQ: 1.00-4.00); it was 3.00 (IQ: 2.00-5.00) during LA and 3.00 (IQ: 2.00-5.00) during punctions. In anxious patients (HAD score>10), the level of pain during the procedure was 2.5 (IQ: 2.00-3.00). Overall, csPCa was detected in 63%. CONCLUSION TPPBx under LA without antibioprophylaxis provides few complications, an acceptable pain threshold, and a satisfactorily rate of csPCa detection, even if performed by urologists with no previous experience of TPPBx. Abstract
A measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson combining the H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ and H→γγ decay channels is presented. The result is based on 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector during LHC run 2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV combined with the run 1 ATLAS mass measurement, performed at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding a Higgs boson mass of 125.11±0.09(stat)±0.06(syst)=125.11±0.11 GeV. This corresponds to a 0.09% precision achieved on this fundamental parameter of the Standard Model of particle physics.

Abstract
A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.8, 11.1] GeV. This search explores new parameter space not previously excluded by other experiments.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In recent years, improved diagnosis of prostate cancer has allowed the development of focal therapy, in order to reduce the morbidity of treatments. Our study assesses the medium-term oncological and functional results of FocalOne® HIFU treatment in localized prostate cancer. METHODS This is a retrospective, multicentre study including patients with low- or intermediate-risk localized prostate cancer treated with Focal one HIFU between November 2014 and December 2019. The primary endpoint was the retreatment rate and subgroup analyses were performed to identify predictive factors of retreatment. RESULTS One hundred and thirty-seven patients were included with a median follow-up of 25.5 months. Seventy percent of patients had clinical stage T2, 64% had an ISUP score of 2 or 3 on initial biopsies and 38% were treated with hemi-ablation. Follow-up biopsies were performed in 76.6% of patients during follow-up with 21.8% having clinically significant cancers. The retreatment rate at 24 months was 37.2%, with positive biopsies being the primary criterion for retreatment. Patients with a PSA>8ng/mL had a significantly higher retreatment rate. Finally, morbidity remained acceptable with 5.8% of patients requiring reoperation for complications and 21% for de novo erectile dysfunction. CONCLUSION Our results are in agreement with those of the literature, seeming to indicate a lower morbidity of the focal treatment by HIFU compared to the radical treatments while offering an acceptable oncological control. Prospective randomized trials are ongoing. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36} fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

Measurement of the Sensitivity of Two-Particle Correlations in pp Collisions to the Presence of Hard Scatterings. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:162301. Abstract
A key open question in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy pp collisions is the relationship between the "ridge"-i.e., the observed azimuthal correlations between particles in the underlying event that extend over all rapidities-and hard or semihard scattering processes. In particular, it is not known whether jets or their soft fragments are correlated with particles in the underlying event. To address this question, two-particle correlations are measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 15.8 pb^{-1}, in two different configurations. In the first case, charged particles associated with jets are excluded from the correlation analysis, while in the second case, correlations are measured between particles within jets and charged particles from the underlying event. Second-order flow coefficients, v_{2}, are presented as a function of event multiplicity and transverse momentum. These measurements show that excluding particles associated with jets does not affect the measured correlations. Moreover, particles associated with jets do not exhibit any significant azimuthal correlations with the underlying event, ruling out hard processes contributing to the ridge.

Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Urinary drainage is usually left in place after laparoscopic pyeloplasty to limit the risk of complications, such as urinary leakage. The procedure is sometimes laborious and complications may occur. PURPOSE Prospective evaluation of the Kirschner technique for urinary drainage during pediatric laparoscopic pyeloplasty. STUDY DESIGN This technique (Upasani et al., J Pediatr Urol 2018) involves introducing a nephrostomy tube (Blue Stent) with a Kirschner wire during laparoscopic transperitoneal pyeloplasty. We evaluated this technique by analyzing 14 consecutive pyeloplasties (53% on female patients, median age 10 years (6-16 years), on the right side in 40%) performed by a single operator between 2018 and 2021. The drain and urinary catheter were clamped and the perirenal drain removed on day 2. The stent was removed during consultation between days 7 and 15. RESULTS The median duration of surgery was 155 ± 7 min. Urinary drainage was installed within 5 min, without the need for radiological control and with no complications. All drains were correctly placed, with no drain migration or urinoma. Median hospital stay was 2 ± 1 days. One patient developed pyelonephritis (D8). The stent was removed without difficulty or complications. One patient presented an 8-mm lower calyx urinary stone at two months, revealed by macroscopic hematuria, necessitating extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. DISCUSSION The study design was based on a homogeneous series of patients, without comparison with another drainage technique or procedures performed by another operator. A comparison with other techniques might have been informative. Before this study, we tested various types of urinary drainage, to optimize performance. This technique was considered the simplest and least invasive. CONCLUSION External drain placement with this technique was rapid, safe, and reproducible in children. It also made it possible to test the tightness of the anastomosis and to avoid the need for anesthesia for drain removal.

Strong Constraints on Jet Quenching in Centrality-Dependent p+Pb Collisions at 5.02 TeV from ATLAS. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:072301. Abstract
Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions. In contrast, while jet quenching is observed in Pb+Pb collisions, no evidence has been found in these small systems to date, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the system created in these collisions. The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider has measured the yield of charged hadrons correlated with reconstructed jets in 0.36 nb^{-1} of p+Pb and 3.6 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at 5.02 TeV. The yields of charged hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>0.5 GeV near and opposite in azimuth to jets with p_{T}^{jet}>30 or 60 GeV, and the ratios of these yields between p+Pb and pp collisions, I_{pPb}, are reported. The collision centrality of p+Pb events is categorized by the energy deposited by forward neutrons from the struck nucleus. The I_{pPb} values are consistent with unity within a few percent for hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>4 GeV at all centralities. These data provide new, strong constraints that preclude almost any parton energy loss in central p+Pb collisions.

Abstract
A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background. No signal is observed, and limits are set on the squared mixing parameters of the N with the left-handed neutrino states for the N mass range 3 GeV

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data. Constraints are set on the parameters describing the strength of the CP-odd component in the coupling between the Higgs boson and the electroweak gauge bosons in two effective field theory bases: d[over ˜] in the HISZ basis and c_{HW[over ˜]} in the Warsaw basis. The results presented are the most stringent constraints on CP violation in the coupling between Higgs and weak bosons. The 95% C.L. constraint on d[over ˜] is derived for the first time and the 95% C.L. constraint on c_{HW[over ˜]} has been improved by a factor of 5 compared to the previous measurement.

Clinical utility of expanded non-invasive prenatal screening compared with chromosomal microarray analysis in over 8000 pregnancies without major structural anomaly. ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY : THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY 2023; 61:698-704. [PMID: 36776119 DOI: 10.1002/uog.26177] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/27/2022] [Revised: 01/01/2023] [Accepted: 01/27/2023] [Indexed: 06/03/2023]
Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the theoretical added value of two types of non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS) expansions in pregnancies without major structural anomalies over the commonly used NIPS for chromosomes 13, 18, 21, X and Y (5-NIPS) and to compare them with the added value of chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA). METHODS This was a retrospective cohort study based on CMA results of all pregnancies with normal ultrasound (including pregnancies with soft markers and with abnormal maternal serum screening) that had undergone amniocentesis between January 2013 to February 2022 and were registered in the database of the Rabin Medical Center genetic laboratory. We calculated the theoretical yield of 5-NIPS and compared the added value of expanded 5-NIPS for common microdeletions (1p36.3-1p36.2, 4p16.3-4p16.2, 5p15.3-5p15.1, 15q11.2-15q13.1 and 22q11.2) and genome-wide NIPS (including variants > 5 Mb) with the added value of CMA in the overall cohort and in subgroups according to indication for invasive testing. RESULTS Among the 8605 examined pregnancies, 122 (1.4%) clinically significant CMA results were demonstrated. Of these, 44 (36.1%) were theoretically detectable on 5-NIPS, with the rates of 1.56% in 642 pregnancies with abnormal maternal serum screening, 0.63% in 318 pregnancies with soft markers, 0.62% in 4378 women with advanced maternal age (≥ 35 years) and 0.15% in 3267 women younger than 35 years. In addition to aneuploidies detectable on 5-NIPS, three (0.03%) cases detectable on 5-NIPS expanded for common microdeletions and nine (0.10%) cases detectable on genome-wide NIPS (excluding common microdeletions) were identified in the overall cohort. The added value of expanded NIPS tools over 5-NIPS was significantly lower compared with that of CMA, for the overall cohort and subgroups. CONCLUSIONS 5-NIPS and even genome-wide NIPS would miss 63.9% and 54.1% of clinically significant CMA findings, respectively. The added value of 5-NIPS expanded to detect common microdeletions over 5-NIPS is about 0.035%, and the overall added value of genome-wide NIPS aimed at large CNVs is about 0.14%, both much lower compared with the added value of CMA (0.91%). These findings should assist healthcare practitioners in guiding couples towards informed decision-making regarding the choice between prenatal invasive testing and NIPS. © 2023 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Abstract

Abstract
BACKGROUND Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has been reported as a safe and efficient therapy for treating refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT) despite optimal medical treatment and catheter ablation. However, data on the use of SBRT in patients with electrical storm (ES) is lacking. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical outcomes associated with SBRT in the context of ES. METHODS This retrospective study included patients who underwent SBRT in the context of ES from March 2020 to March 2021 in one tertiary center (CHU Lille). The target volume was delineated according to a predefined workflow. The efficacy was assessed with the following end points: sustained VT recurrence, VT reduced with antitachycardia pacing, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator shock. RESULTS Seventeen patients underwent SBRT to treat refractory VT in the context of ES (mean 67±12.8 age, 59% presenting ischemic heart disease, mean left ventricular ejection fraction: 33.7± 9.7%). Five patients presented with ES related to incessant VT. Among these 5 patients, the time to effectiveness ranged from 1 to 7 weeks after SBRT. In the 12 remaining patients, VT recurrences occurred in 7 patients during the first 6 weeks following SBRT. After a median 12.5 (10.5-17.8) months follow-up, a significant reduction of the VT burden was observed beyond 6 weeks (-91% [95% CI, 78-103]), P<0.0001). The incidence of implantable cardioverter defibrillator shock and antitachycardia pacing was 36% at 1 year. CONCLUSIONS SBRT is associated with a significant reduction of the VT burden in the event of an ES; however, prospective randomized control trials are needed. In patients without incessant VT, recurrences are observed in half of patients during the first 6 weeks. VT tolerance and implantable cardioverter defibrillator programming adjustments should be integrated as part of an action plan defined before SBRT for each patient.

Effect of standing frames used in real life on bone remodeling in non-walking children with cerebral palsy. Osteoporos Int 2022; 33:2019-2025. Abstract
UNLABELLED Children with severe cerebral palsy are prone to low bone mineral density. No clear recommendation exists for an optimal use of standing frame to enhance bone health in this context. Used in real life, this study suggests for the first time that standing practice improved bone mineralization by limiting bone resorption. INTRODUCTION To compare the bone health of children with severe cerebral palsy who use a static standing frame in real life to that of children who do not. METHODS A total of 24 children with severe cerebral palsy GMFCS IV & V were included in the study and were divided into two groups: 13 were using a passive standing frame and 11 were not. We performed a single center retrospective cross-sectional study comparing the two groups using dual X-ray absorptiometry data and tests on biological samples, including bone remodeling factors. RESULTS Total body (less head) bone mineral content was significantly higher in children who used a standing frame for an average of 30 min/day. This was confirmed in the lumbar spine. Although the total body bone mineral density (less head and proximal femur) densitometric data were not significantly higher, a positive trend favored the use of a standing frame in the children. Bone resorptive factors (CTX) were higher in the non-standing-frame group, whereas there was no difference among osteoformation factors. No difference in fracture history was found. CONCLUSIONS We show that non-ambulant children with cerebral palsy who use a static standing frame in real life have better bone health, with lower bone resorption, than children who do not. Further studies are needed to determine how standing practice could impact bone mineralization over time in real life and to explore more bone remodeling factors.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Incidence and predictors of mortality after an electrical storm in the ICU. EUROPEAN HEART JOURNAL. ACUTE CARDIOVASCULAR CARE 2022; 11:431-439. Abstract
AIMS For assessing predictors of early mortality following hospitalization for electrical storm (ES), only limited data are available. The purpose of this study was to assess the incidence and predictors of early mortality following hospitalization in the intensive care unit (ICU) for ES in a large retrospective study. METHODS AND RESULTS In this retrospective study, we included all patients who were hospitalized for ES from July 2015 to May 2020 in our tertiary centre. A total of 253 patients were included. The median age was 66 [56; 73], and 64% had ischemic cardiomyopathy. A total of 37% of patients presented hemodynamic instability requiring catecholamine at admission. A total of 17% of patients presented an acute reversible cause for ES. The one-year mortality was 34% (95% CI, 30-43%), mostly driven by heart failure (HF). The multivariable Cox's regression model identified age, left ventricular ejection fraction, right ventricle dysfunction, haemoglobin level as independent predictors of one-year mortality. The use of catecholamine at admission was identified as the only variable related to the initial management of ES associated with an increased 30-day mortality risk (HR: 7.95 (95%CI, 3.18-19.85). CONCLUSION In patients admitted for ES in ICU, the one-year mortality remains high and mostly driven by HF. The use of catecholamine at admission is associated with a seven-fold risk for mortality within 30 days. In such patients, the potential use of VT ablation can be questioned and a careful action plan regarding invasive HF-related therapy could be considered.

Abstract
BackgroundSystemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare, severe auto-immune disease characterized by inflammation, vasculopathy and fibrosis. Activated (myo)fibroblasts are crucial drivers of fibrosis. By exploiting their expression of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) to perform targeted photodynamic therapy (tPDT), we can locoregionally deplete these pathogenic cells.ObjectivesWe explored the use of FAP-tPDT to selectively target primary skin fibroblasts from SSc patients, both in 2D and 3D cultures, as well as in biopsies from fibrotic skin lesions in the murine bleomycin-induced skin fibrosis model.MethodsThe FAP targeting monoclonal antibody (clone 28H1) was conjugated with the photosensitizer IRDye700DX. Primary skin fibroblasts were obtained from lesional skin biopsies of SSc patients via spontaneous out-growth and subsequently cultured on plastic or collagen type I. For 2D FAP-tPDT, cells were incubated in buffer with or without the antibody-photosensitizer (Ab-PS) construct, washed after 4 h and exposed to λ = 689 nm light (50 J/cm2 at 280 mW/cm2). Cell viability was measured using CellTiter Glo. For 3D FAP-tPDT, cells were seeded in collagen plugs and underwent the same treatment procedure. Contraction of the plugs was followed over time to determine myofibroblast activity. Skin fibrosis was induced in mice by 3x/week injections of 1.5 IU bleomycin intradermally on the back of the mouse. After 5 weeks the mice were sacrificed and biopsies were taken from affected and not affected skin. These were incubated with or without the FAP targeting Ab-PS construct or a control Ab-PS. After washing, the biopsies were exposed to light, incubated for 1h and subsequently formalin fixed and paraffin embedded. Sections were immuno stained for the presence of cleaved caspase-3.ResultsFAP-tPDT resulted in antibody-dose dependent cytotoxicity in primary skin fibroblasts upon light exposure. Cells not exposed to light or incubated with a control Ab-PS construct did not show this response. FAP-tPDT fully prevented contraction of collagen plugs seeded with primary SSc fibroblasts. Even incubation with a very low dose of antibody (0.4 nM) inhibited contraction in 2 out of 3 donors. In fibrotic skin biopsies from mice with bleomycin-induced skin fibrosis, an upregulation of apoptosis, as evidenced by increased caspase-3 staining (Figure 1), was observed in response to FAP-tPDT. The same treatment on biopsies of control skin did not increase caspase-3 staining, nor did incubation with a control Ab-PS construct or light alone.Figure 1.Cleaved caspase-3 staining of biopsies from the skin of mice with bleomycin-induced dermal fibrosis upon treatment with FAP-tPDT. The red arrows indicate the presence of positive fibroblasts.ConclusionHere we have shown, for the first time, the potential of FAP-tPDT for the selective targeting of pathogenic fibroblasts and treatment of fibrosis in SSc skin both in relevant patient-derived culture models as well as an in vivo model of fibrosis.Disclosure of InterestsDaphne Dorst: None declared, Arjan van Caam: None declared, Elly Vitters: None declared, Birgitte Walgreen: None declared, Monique Helsen: None declared, Christian Klein Employee of: CK is an employee of Roche pharmaceutics, Shreya Gudi: None declared, Tirza Wubs: None declared, Jyoti Kumari: None declared, Przemysław Błyszczuk: None declared, Madelon Vonk: None declared, Peter van der Kraan: None declared, Marije Koenders: None declared.

Introduction
Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has been reported as a safe and efficient therapy to treat refractory VT despite optimal medical treatment and/or catheter ablation (CA). However data in the setting of ES are lacking.
Objectives
The aim of this study was to assess the clinical outcomes associated with SBRT in the setting of ES.
Methods
This retrospective study included patients who underwent SBRT in the setting of ES from March 2019 to March 2021 in one tertiary center (CHU Lille). Target volume was delineated according to a predefined workflow. The efficacy was assessed with the following endpoints: sustained VT recurrence, VT reduced with ATP or ICD shock.
Results
17 patients underwent SBRT to treat refractory VT in the setting of ES (Mean age: 67±12.8, 59% presenting ischemic heart disease, mean LVEF: 33.7± 9.7%). After a median follow-up of 7 [5; 16] months, a reduction in VT burden was observed in all patients after a 6-week blanking period. 6 patients presented an increase of the VT burden from week 2 to week 6 following SBRT despite an initial reduction of VT burden. No patient experienced ICD shocks beyond 6 weeks.
Conclusion
SBRT is efficient in treating recurrent VT in the setting of ES with failure and/or contraindication to CA. One third of patient present a transient increase in VT burden during a 6 weeks blanking period. Therefore, VT tolerance should be integrated as part of an action plan defined upstream to SBRT for each patient.

Abstract
Craniofacial and jaw bones have unique physiological specificities when compared to axial and appendicular bones. However, the molecular profile of the jaw osteoblast (OB) remains incomplete. The present study aimed to decipher the bone site-specific profiles of transcription factors (TFs) expressed in OBs in vivo. Using RNA sequencing analysis, we mapped the transcriptome of confirmed OBs from 2 different skeletal sites: mandible (Md) and tibia (Tb). The OB transcriptome contains 709 TF genes: 608 are similarly expressed in Md-OB and Tb-OB, referred to as "OB-core"; 54 TF genes are upregulated in Md-OB, referred to as "Md-set"; and 18 TF genes are upregulated in Tb-OB, referred to as "Tb-set." Notably, the expression of 29 additional TF genes depends on their RNA transcript variants. TF genes with no previously known role in OBs and bone were identified. Bioinformatics analysis combined with review of genetic disease databases and a comprehensive literature search showed a significant contribution of anatomical origin to the OB signatures. Md-set and Tb-set are enriched with site-specific TF genes associated with development and morphogenesis (neural crest vs. mesoderm), and this developmental imprint persists during growth and homeostasis. Jaw and tibia site-specific OB signatures are associated with craniofacial and appendicular skeletal disorders as well as neurocristopathies, dental disorders, and digit malformations. The present study demonstrates the feasibility of a new method to isolate pure OB populations and map their gene expression signature in the context of OB physiological environment, avoiding in vitro culture and its associated biases. Our results provide insights into the site-specific developmental pathways governing OBs and identify new major OB regulators of bone physiology. We also established the importance of the OB transcriptome as a prognostic tool for human rare bone diseases to explore the hidden pathophysiology of craniofacial malformations, among the most prevalent congenital defects in humans.

Perinatal hypoxia and the risk of severe Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH): a retrospective analysis of the pH value of umbilical arterial blood after birth. Eur Arch Paediatr Dent 2022; 23:109-115. [PMID: 33844182 PMCID: PMC8926954 DOI: 10.1007/s40368-021-00622-5] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/08/2020] [Accepted: 03/29/2021] [Indexed: 12/16/2022]
Abstract
PURPOSE Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) remains a widespread developmental disorder of the teeth with a still largely unknown etiology. Perinatal events were blamed in previous studies for the development of MIH. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the influence of perinatal hypoxia-determined by the pH value of the umbilical cord blood-and to investigate its correlation with severe MIH retrospectively. In addition, cesarean section was recorded as differentiation variable. METHODS A total number of 138 children (mean age 8.0 years ± 1.7), who were treated for severe MIH in a dental office in Berlin between the years 2008 and 2019, were included in the study. The control group was comprised of patients with the same date of birth (44 children, mean age 7.7 years ± 1.7). Information on the pH value of the arterial blood from the umbilical cord taken immediately after birth, whose recording is mandatory in Germany, was received from the parents by letter survey requesting the entries from the German Child Health Booklet. RESULTS In the group of the male children born without cesarean section, the pH value of the control group was significantly lower (7.19 ± 0.09) than the pH value of the MIH group (7.27 ± 0.07, p = 0.0008). In female children born with or without cesarean section as well as in male children born by cesarean section there were no significant differences between the MIH and control group. CONCLUSIONS No significant association between MIH and the pH value of the umbilical cord blood or birth by cesarean section could be found in the examined patient population.

High liver fibrosis scores in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease patients are associated with adverse atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation recurrence following catheter ablation. Front Endocrinol (Lausanne) 2022; 13:957245. [PMID: 36120456 PMCID: PMC9471263 DOI: 10.3389/fendo.2022.957245] [Citation(s) in RCA: 6] [Impact Index Per Article: 3.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/30/2022] [Accepted: 08/01/2022] [Indexed: 11/18/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND A number of epidemiological studies have suggested an association between metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and the incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the pathogenesis leading to AF in the context of MAFLD remains unclear. We therefore aimed at assessing the impact of MAFLD and liver fibrosis status on left atrium (LA) structure and function. METHODS Patients with a Fatty Liver Index (FLI) >60 and the presence of metabolic comorbidities were classified as MAFLD+. In MAFLD+ patients, liver fibrosis severity was defined using the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) Fibrosis Score (NFS), as follows: MAFLD w/o fibrosis (NFS ≦ -1.455), MAFLD w/indeterminate fibrosis (-1.455 < NFS < 0.675), and MAFLD w/fibrosis (NFS ≧ 0.675). In the first cohort of patients undergoing AF ablation, the structural and functional impact on LA of MAFLD was assessed by LA strain analysis and endocardial voltage mapping. Histopathological assessment of atrial fibrosis was performed in the second cohort of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Finally, the impact of MAFLD on AF recurrence following catheter ablation was assessed. RESULTS In the AF ablation cohort (NoMAFLD n = 123; MAFLD w/o fibrosis n = 37; MAFLD indeterm. fibrosis n = 75; MAFLD w/severe fibrosis n = 10), MAFLD patients with high risk of F3-F4 liver fibrosis presented more LA low-voltage areas as compared to patients without MAFLD (16.5 [10.25; 28] vs 5.0 [1; 11] low-voltage areas p = 0.0115), impaired LA reservoir function assessed by peak left atrial longitudinal strain (19.7% ± 8% vs 8.9% ± 0.89% p = 0.0268), and increased LA volume (52.9 ± 11.7 vs 43.5 ± 18.0 ml/m2 p = 0.0168). Accordingly, among the MAFLD patients, those with a high risk of F3-F4 liver fibrosis presented a higher rate of AF recurrence during follow-up (p = 0.0179). In the cardiac surgery cohort (NoMAFLD n = 12; MAFLD w/o fibrosis n = 5; MAFLD w/fibrosis n = 3), an increase in histopathological atrial fibrosis was observed in MAFLD patients with a high risk of F3-F4 liver fibrosis (p = 0.0206 vs NoMAFLD; p = 0.0595 vs MAFLD w/o fibrosis). CONCLUSION In conclusion, we found that liver fibrosis scoring in MAFLD patients is associated with adverse atrial remodeling and AF recurrences following catheter ablation. The impact of the management of MAFLD on LA remodeling and AF ablation outcomes should be assessed in dedicated studies.

Search for Lepton-Flavor Violation in Z-Boson Decays with τ Leptons with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:271801. Abstract
A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays. The Z→ℓτ branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z→eτ)<7.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<7.2×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z→eτ)<5.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<6.5×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level.

Search for New Phenomena in Final States with Two Leptons and One or No b-Tagged Jets at sqrt[s]=13 TeV Using the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:141801. Abstract
A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no b-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1}. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. Inspired by the B-meson decay anomalies, a four-fermion contact interaction between two quarks (b, s) and two leptons (ee or μμ) is used as a benchmark signal model, which is characterized by the energy scale and coupling, Λ and g_{*}, respectively. Contact interactions with Λ/g_{*} lower than 2.0 (2.4) TeV are excluded for electrons (muons) at the 95% confidence level, still far below the value that is favored by the B-meson decay anomalies. Model-independent limits are set as a function of the minimum dilepton invariant mass, which allow the results to be reinterpreted in various signal scenarios.

Abstract
A search for charged leptons with large impact parameters using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data from the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented, addressing a long-standing gap in coverage of possible new physics signatures. Results are consistent with the background prediction. This search provides unique sensitivity to long-lived scalar supersymmetric lepton partners (sleptons). For lifetimes of 0.1 ns, selectron, smuon, and stau masses up to 720, 680, and 340 GeV, respectively, are excluded at 95% confidence level, drastically improving on the previous best limits from LEP.
