Abstract
The study was conducted to investigate the effects of mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) and probiotic supplementation on haematological and immunological parameters in turkeys. A total of 72, 15-day-old white hybrid converter turkey poults were used in this study. Poults were assigned into three groups, each group consisted of six poults and the trial was repeated four times. The control group was fed a basal diet without supplemented probiotic and MOS, and treatment groups were fed either 1 g/kg MOS or probiotic added diets. At the end of the 15-week treatment period, samples of blood were collected to determine immunological and haematological values. The comparison among the groups showed that both the probiotic and MOS supplementation resulted in significant increases (P < 0.05) in the serum IgG and IgM levels, and significant decreases (P < 0.05) in the peripheral blood T lymphocyte percentage compared with those of the control group. Mean serum IgG level (7.06 g/l) was significantly higher (P < 0.05) in poults supplemented with probiotic compared with MOS (6.76 g/l). It was observed that the probiotic supplementation caused statistically significant increases (P < 0.05) in the erythrocyte count, haemoglobin concentration and haematocrit values, but MOS supplementation did not have a significant effect (P > 0.05) on these parameters. Total leucocyte and differential leucocyte counts were not affected by dietary MOS and probiotic supplementation. These results show that MOS or probiotic may elevate IgG and IgM levels in turkey. The MOS and probiotic that enhance immunoglobulin levels will have a more positive effect on growth performance, production and turkeys' ability to resist disease.

Abstract
AIMS Raising awareness of diabetic retinopathy (DR) was shown to be a key element for early diagnosis and treatment of this blinding disease. There is very limited data about the knowledge level, attitude, and behavior of diabetic patients regarding DR in Turkey. This study was planned to assess the awareness of DR and the utilization of eye care services among Turkish diabetic patients. METHODS Diabetic patients who were under the care of ophthalmologists, endocrinologists, and/or primary care physicians were administered a questionnaire in order to assess their awareness of diabetes and its ocular complications. RESULTS A total of 437 patients (51.8% female and 48.2% male) with a mean age of 55.2 ± 11.9 were included in the study. Of the 437 patients, 31.8% had not been educated about diabetes, 88.1% were aware that diabetes can affect the eyes, and 39.8% thought that diabetics with good glycaemic control might suffer from DR. While 86.7% thought that early diagnosis was possible in DR, 77.3% previously had eye examinations, and 41.9% stated that annual eye examinations were necessary for diabetics. An educational level of middle school or higher, duration of DM longer than 5 years, previous DM education, and recruitment from the university (ophthalmology department and endocrinology department) were associated with better awareness of DR. The independent factors associated with visiting an ophthalmologist on a regular basis were DM education, DM duration, and site of recruitment. CONCLUSION Although most of the patients know that DM affects the eye, there is a lack of appropriate knowledge and behavior about the management of DR. The importance of better control of DM and regular eye examination in the prevention of DR should be emphasized.

Abstract
The chemical composition and the antimicrobial activity of the essential oils isolated from the leaves (LEO) and flowers (FEO) of Anthemis xylopoda, an endemic taxon of Turkey, were investigated. Borneol was the major constituent of both the oils studied (30.15 and 31.85%, respectively). The antimicrobial activities of both oils were separately evaluated against 13 microorganisms. The disc diffusion method was used for the antimicrobial activity test. Results showed that both oils of Anthemis xylopoda exhibited a significant antimicrobial activity.

Abstract
UNLABELLED In elderly individuals balance disorders and muscle weakness can lead to prescribing a walker. There are several different models. According to the very poor effort tolerance in this population, the energy cost necessary to operate walking technical aids should be taken into account when making a choice. OBJECTIVE Compare two types of walker in regards to energy cost produced during gait in weakened elderly individuals. METHOD Thirty subjects over the age of 65 (six men and 24 women, mean age 81.9 years) were admitted in geriatrics care. They all required a walker and performed the same 10-m course with a fixed walker, then with a model bearing front wheels. The walking speed (S) was computed, heart rate at rest (HRrest) and maximum heart rate (HRmax) were recorded during the test. The physiological cost index (PCI=HRmax-HRrest/S) was calculated. Finally a timed get-up-and-go (TGUG) test was performed with each of these technical aids. RESULTS With a rollator walker, HRmax was lower (P<0.05) and S higher (P<0.001). It was 2.01 with a fixed walker versus 1.23 with a rollator walker (P<0.01). We found this speed difference during the TGUG test (72.26 sec vs. 82.93 sec, P=0.001). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION There are very little studies on the evaluation of physiological energy cost produced during gait with a walker. The characteristics of our population did not allow us to conduct our test without a technical aid. The use of a fixed walker leads to a major increase in gait PCI, probably due to the required repeated efforts for lifting the walker. This model must be avoided in case of cardiac or respiratory disorders.

Abstract
To evaluate the effect of 4 different levels of propolis supplementation on the hematological and immunological parameters of laying hens, a trial was conducted with 60 White Leghorn layer hens. The experiment was conducted by using a randomized design with 5 treatments, 4 replicates, and 3 hens in each replicate. Treatments included basal diet (control) and basal diet plus 0.5, 1, 3, and 6 g of propolis/kg of diet, respectively. At the end of the 12-wk treatment period, samples of blood were collected to determine hematological and immunological values. The results showed that the addition of propolis at 3 g/kg in the diet resulted in significant increases (P < 0.05) in the serum IgG and IgM levels and significant decreases (P < 0.05) in the peripheral blood T-lymphocyte percentage compared with those of the control and other treatment groups. In addition, the level of 3 g/kg of propolis supplementation significantly increased (P < 0.05) erythrocyte count (red blood cells) compared with the other treatments. On the other hand, hemoglobin and hematocrit values and total leucocyte (white blood cells) and differential leucocytes counts were not influenced by propolis supplementation. These results indicate that the inclusion of propolis at the level of 3 g/kg of diet may have a positive effect on humoral immunity of laying hens.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Recent studies have revealed that ghrelin may be an antioxidant and antiinflammatory agent. Oxidative stress are considered to play a prominent causative role in the development of various hepatic disorders. We investigated whether ghrelin plays a protective role against carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4))-induced acute liver injury in rats. METHODS Forty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four equal groups as; control, ghrelin, CCl(4) and ghrelin plus CCl(4). Evaluations were made for lipid peroxidation, enzyme activities and biochemical parameters. Pathological histology was also performed. RESULTS CCl(4) treatment increased plasma and liver tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) content and plasma nitric oxide (NO) level, and decreased erythrocyte and liver tissue superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities when compared to control group. At the same time, CCl(4) treatment increased the serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and alcaline phosphatase (ALP) activities. By contrast, ghrelin pretreatment reduced plasma and liver MDA content and plasma NO level, and increased erythrocyte and liver tissue SOD, CAT and GPx activities when compared with CCl(4)-treated group. Moreover, both ghrelin alone and ghrelin plus CCl(4) treatment elevated serum glucose level. The CCl(4)-induced histopathological changes were also reduced by the ghrelin pretreatment. CONCLUSION Our results show that ghrelin can be proposed to protect the liver against CCl(4)-induced oxidative damage in rats, and the hepatoprotective effect may be correlated with its antioxidant and free radical scavenger effects.

Abstract
Echocardiographic parameters were recorded, measured and statistically analysed on a population of 12 male Hartley albino guineapigs under ketamine–xylazine anaesthesia. Additionally, the effect of body weight on these parameters and the correlation between the parameters were assessed. The mean values of left ventricular internal diameter in end diastole (LVIDD), left ventricular internal diameter in end systole (LVIDS), interventricular septum thickness in diastole (IVSD), interventricular septum thickness in systole (IVSS), left ventricular posterior wall thickness in diastole (LVPWD), left ventricular posterior wall thickness in systole (LVPWS), left atrial diameter (LA), aortic diameter (AO), left ventricular fractional shortening (FS) and left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) were measured or calculated as 6.85 ± 0.36, 4.35 ± 0.17, 1.75 ± 0.31, 2.26 ± 0.35, 2.28 ± 0.40, 2.80 ± 0.58, 4.95 ± 0.34, 4.65 ± 0.25 mm, 35.62 ± 2.62 and 70.87 ± 3.01%, respectively. A significant ( P <0.01) positive correlation to body weight was found with LVIDD, LVPWD, IVSD, aortic root diameter and LA. Significant correlation was also found between a number of echocardiographic parameters.

Abstract
PURPOSE To identify the anatomic sites and the etiology of childhood blindness and to discern treatable and preventable causes. METHODS The records of 998 patients seen in the authors' pediatric ophthalmology unit between June 1998 and May 2002 were examined retrospectively. A total of 148 patients who had visual impairment and blindness according to World Health Organization criteria were included in the study. They are classified according to the etiology based on time of insult and the anatomic site of visual loss. RESULTS The most common anatomic site of visual loss was retina, with a rate of 25.0%. The etiology according to the time of insult was unknown in 45.2% of the patients, of whom 20.2% had cataract. Genetic disorders were responsible in 25.0% of the patients. In 69.6% of the patients, the causes of visual impairment were considered either preventable or treatable, including cataract, retinopathy of prematurity, genetic disorders, and refractive errors. CONCLUSIONS A high percentage of our patients had avoidable causes of childhood blindness. Genetic counseling services, as well as national screening programs for amblyopia, red fundus reflex, and retinopathy of prematurity, should be established.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of scleral buckling surgery on corneal topography, corneal thickness, and anterior chamber depth. METHODS Thirty-two eyes of 32 patients who underwent encircling buckling surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment were included in the study. Fellow eyes comprised the control group. Orbscan II topography system was used to determine the changes in corneal topography, corneal thickness, and anterior chamber depth before surgery and 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months after surgery. Statistical analyses used in the study were independent t test, paired t test, one way analysis of variance, and correlation analyses. RESULTS Postoperatively, mean central corneal astigmatism at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months was 4.3 +/- 2.0 diopters (D), 3.3 +/- 1.6 D, and 3.1 +/- 1.0 D, respectively. The change between 1 week and 3 months was statistically significant. Central cornea was thickened at the first postoperative week. The thickness gradually decreased to the preoperative levels at 3 months. Anterior chamber depth decreased, and the anterior chamber remained shallow after the surgery. The comparison between preoperative (2.94 +/- 0.6 mm) and postoperative anterior chamber depth was statistically significant at 1 week (2.57 +/- 0.7 mm), 1 month (2.83 +/- 0.7 mm), and 3 months (2.73 +/- 0.6 mm). CONCLUSIONS Corneal changes after scleral buckling surgery were mild to moderate and the cornea almost resumed its preoperative parameters in 3 months' time. However, the anterior chamber remained shallow during 3 months of follow-up.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We investigated the effects of six months vitamin E administration on cognition evaluated by event-related potentials in exercising older subjects. DESIGN Randomised controlled trial. SETTING Retirement home in Antalya, Turkey. PARTICIPANTS Fifty-seven adults aged 60-85 years were randomly assigned to one of four groups: sedentary control (C), vitamin E (V), exercise training (E) and vitamin E under training (EV). INTERVENTION V and EV groups were received vitamin E at a dose of 900 IU/day P.O. for 6 months. Trained groups were subjected to walking exercise involved 3 sessions per week for 6 months. Walking duration was gradually increased during 8 weeks, and stayed constant until the end of training period. Participants were begun walking at % 70 heart rate reserve for 20 min/day at the first two weeks, and walking duration was increased by 5 minutes/day of each week until subjects were reached a level of 50 min/day by week 8. MEASUREMENTS Plasma vitamin E concentration, total antioxidant capacity and two parameters of event-related potentials namely P3 latency and amplitude were performed on all study groups both before and after training. RESULTS Significant improvement in P3 latency was found in exercising groups. However, no significant differences were found between vitamin and other groups for P3 latency. Amplitude measurements were found unaltered among all groups. CONCLUSION We concluded that although six months training results improvement in P3 latency, vitamin E supplementation does not affect cognitive function evaluated by event-related potentials in older subjects.

Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of organophosphate (OP) insecticide chlorpyrifos on cardiac morphology and function in rabbits using echocardiography. Twenty New Zealand male rabbits were divided equally into four groups. Rabbits were exposed to chlorpyrifos in drinking water at concentrations of 0, 125, 250 or 375 ppm for 90 days. The comparison among the groups indicated that 375 ppm chlorpyrifos resulted in significant decrease (p<0.05) in heart rate (HR), cardiac output (CO), left ventricular fractional shortening (FS), left ventricular ejection fraction (EF), percentage thickening of left ventricle posterior wall (PWT), and significant increase (p<0.05) in left atrial diameter (LA), left ventricular internal diameter in end diastole (LVIDD), left ventricular end diastolic (EDV) and end systolic volumes (ESV) compared to those of the control group. These results showed that chlorpyrifos induces cardiac dysfunction in rabbits.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the individual and combined effects of rosemary, oregano and fennel volatile oil (FVO) supplementation on the performance and ilio-caecal bacteriological flora of broiler chickens. A total of 800 male Ross-308 broiler chickens were divided equally into 8 groups; each contained 100 chickens. The study included a control treatment (NC) with no dietary additives that was supplemented with oils according to the following 7 treatments: 200 mg α-tocopherol acetate/kg (PC), 100 mg oregano volatile oil (OVO)/kg, 100 mg rosemary volatile oil (RVO)/kg, 100 mg FVO/kg and an equal mixture of oregano+rosemary+fennel VO (100, 200, 400 mg/kg, VOM-1, VOM-2 and VOM-3, respectively). The experiment lasted for 6 weeks. At the end of the experiment, dietary supplementation with α-tocopherol, oregano, rosemary and FVO and two different volatile oil mixtures (VOMs) (VOM-2; VOM-3) significantly increased the body weights (BWs) of broilers at 7, 14 and 21 d of age compared to the negative control (NC) (-) and VOM-1 groups. At 0-42 d, birds fed on VOM-3 were considerably heavier and also gained more weight than NC (-) and VOM-1 groups. The blend of VOs at 400 mg/kg significantly increased Lactobacillus spp. in faeces. The blends of oregano, rosemary and FVOs (VOM-3) at 400 mg/kg concentration and also VOM-3 group exhibited stronger antibacterial activity against coliform bacteria compared to the NC (-) group. In conclusion, the blend of oregano, rosemary and fennel VOs at higher concentrations (400 mg/kg concentration) in diets can be used to stimulate the growth and can improve the intestinal microbial balance (including a reduction of coliform bacteria and an increase in Lactobacillus spp. counts) of broiler chickens.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION During the first two years of life, hypotonia may be the only symptom of a central or peripheral nervous system disorder. We propose to assess the sensitivity of electroneuromyography (ENMG) in the aetiological diagnosis of hypotonia of neuromuscular origin in infants and toddlers. METHOD This is a retrospective, single-centre study with revision of the files of the 37 children aged between zero and 24 months who, between 1994 and 2006, underwent an ENMG in the etiological approach of their hypotonia and had a final diagnosis of neuromuscular disease. RESULTS All the 13 patients with spinal muscular atrophy or Charcot Marie-Tooth disease displayed neurogenic alterations on the electromyography (EMG). Among the 24 children ultimately diagnosed with myopathies, five only displayed myogenic alterations when tested before the age of two. Sixteen had normal EMG results and three showed neurogenic alterations. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION In infants presenting with hypotonia, ENMG is useful for the diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy. Normal ENMG is relatively common for confirmed muscle disorders in infants whereas myogenic alterations seem more unusual, so that muscle biopsy appears unquestionable. In a few cases, early onset myopathies may present with a neurogenic ENMG pattern. Such a result should not invalidate the clinically presumed diagnosis of myopathy and would indicate on the contrary the need for a muscle biopsy.

Abstract
Fetal heart rate was monitored in 33 red blood cell isoimmunized patients at 32 to 36 weeks' gestation immediately before cordocentesis. The fetal heart rate patterns were analyzed according to 25 different classifications, and the values were related to the fetal hemoglobin concentration, oxygen tension, and oxygen content. Nonreactive, suboptimal, or pathologic fetal heart rate patterns were encountered more commonly in fetuses that were hypoxemic and anemic than in those that were normoxemic and nonanemic. However, the positive predictive value of these abnormal fetal heart rate patterns with respect to fetal anemia was 50% to 100%; the negative predictive value was 18% to 40%.

Abstract
This study was conducted to assess optic nerve and peripapillary retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) changes in patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD) and its correlation with disease duration and severity. Optic nerve parameters and RNFL thickness were measured in 24 PD patients and 25 age-gender-matched controls by Heidelberg Retinal Tomography II (Heidelberg Engineering, Dossenheim, Germany). Patients with visual acuity below 20/25 were excluded. The mean RNFL in the temporal sector was significantly thinner in the study group than the control group (p = 0.020). Additionally, disease severity and duration negatively correlated with optic disc parameters in some sectors.

Abstract
PURPOSE Aim of the present study was to compare the effects of posterior bite block-vertical pull chin cup (PBB-VPC) and posterior bite block-high pull headgear (PBB-HPH) in the early treatment of anterior open bite. METHODS This retrospective study was carried out using pretreatment (T1) and posttreatment (T2) lateral cephalometric radiographs of 28 patients treated with either PBB-VPC or PBB-HPH and 14 age-matched control patients with anterior open bite. The treatment changes were evaluated with 20 measurements (7 angular and 13 linear). Intergroup comparisons of the cephalometric measurements were performed by ANOVA, and a post hoc Tukey test was used to perform multiple comparisons. RESULTS There was no significant difference in the open bite correction between the two treatment groups, but both groups showed significantly greater increases in overbite than the controls (P < 0.01). The PBB-HPH group showed more upper incisor retraction than the control group (P < 0.01). The two treatment groups both showed significantly more lower incisor retraction than the controls, and more retraction in the PBB-HPH group was found (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Both PBB-VPC and PBB-HPH were effective in the early treatment of anterior open bite. Retrusion of the upper/lower incisors and a slight increase in the upper anterior dentoalveolar height were the most evident findings in the PBB-VPC group. In the PBB-HPH group, forward maxillary growth was significantly restricted, ANB and overjet were reduced, and the upper and lower incisors were significantly retruded.

Abstract
Antibiotic resistance is a global health problem in which mutations occurring in functional proteins render drugs ineffective. The working mechanisms of the arising mutants are seldom apparent; a methodology to decipher these mechanisms systematically would render devising therapies to control the arising mutational pathways possible. Here we utilize Cα-Cβ bond vector relaxations obtained from moderate length MD trajectories to determine conduits for functionality of the resistance conferring mutants of Escherichia coli dihydrofolate reductase. We find that the whole enzyme is synchronized to the motions of the substrate, irrespective of the mutation introducing gain-of-function or loss-of function. The total coordination of the motions suggests changes in the hydrogen bond dynamics with respect to the wild type as a possible route to determine and classify the mode-of-action of individual mutants. As a result, nine trimethoprim-resistant point mutations arising frequently in evolution experiments are categorized. One group of mutants that display the largest occurrence (L28R, W30G) work directly by modifying the dihydrofolate binding region. Conversely, W30R works indirectly by the formation of the E139-R30 salt bridge which releases energy resulting from tight binding by distorting the binding cavity. A third group (D27E, F153S, I94L) arising as single, resistance invoking mutants in evolution experiment trajectories allosterically and dynamically affects a hydrogen bonding motif formed at residues 59-69-71 which in turn modifies the binding site dynamics. The final group (I5F, A26T, R98P) consists of those mutants that have properties most similar to the wild type; these only appear after one of the other mutants is fixed on the protein structure and therefore display clear epistasis. Thus, we show that the binding event is governed by the entire enzyme dynamics while the binding site residues play gating roles. The adjustments made in the total enzyme in response to point mutations are what make quantifying and pinpointing their effect a hard problem. Here, we show that hydrogen bond dynamics recorded on sub-μs time scales provide the necessary fingerprints to decipher the various mechanisms at play.

Abstract
AIM This study compares the long-term results of uni- and bilateral high tibial osteotomies. METHOD 94 osteotomies (72 patients) were followed for 12.7 +/- 2.4 years after osteotomy. Long-term results of 21 patients with bilateral osteotomies (42 osteotomies) were compared with 52 patients who had a unilateral high tibial osteotomy. Endpoint of survival, was defined as implantation of a knee endoprosthesis (Kaplan-Meier analysis). At follow-up clinical results were evaluated by the knee society score and X-rays were analysed for axis and grade of arthrosis. RESULTS Out of 94 high tibial osteotomies 22 (23 %) ended 1 - 13 years later in a knee endoprosthesis. In 11 of the 42 bilateral high tibial osteotomies (26 %; after 2 - 13 years, median 8 years) and 11 of 52 (21 %; after 1 - 11 years, median 8 years) unilateral osteotomies an endoprosthesis was implanted. Kaplan-Meier analysis resulted in no statistical difference in survival between the two groups (p = 0.6517). Additionally, clinical and radiological results were equal. CONCLUSIONS We conclude that there is no long-term difference between uni- and bilateral high tibial osteotomies and both indications can be recommended due their satisfactory long-term results.

Abstract
Supernumerary teeth are described as the teeth formed in excess of the normal dental formula. Prevalence of supernumerary teeth varies between 0.1% and 3.8% in general Caucasian population. They have been reported in both the primary and the permanent dentition. Supernumerary teeth may occur in any region of the dental arch. However, a supernumerary tooth in the canine region is a rare condition and to our knowledge, a non-syndrome case with bilateral supplemental maxillary canines did not exist in the literature. It was the aim of this report to evaluate this rare case in view of both oral radiology and orthodontics.

Abstract
Thirty granite samples commonly used in Turkey were surveyed for natural radioactivity. Concentrations of natural radionuclides in all samples were determined by gamma-ray spectroscopy with hyper-pure germanium detector. The activity concentrations measured for (226)Ra and (232)Th ranged from 0.7±0.1 to 186±1 Bq kg(-1), and from 0.5±0.1 to 249±2 Bq kg(-1), respectively. The activity concentrations obtained for (40)K varied from minimum detectable activity (0.4 Bq kg(-1)) to 1935±11 Bq kg(-1). The radium equivalent activity (Ra(eq)), the absorbed dose rate (D), the external hazard index (H(ex)) and the annual effective dose equivalent were also calculated and compared with the international recommended values. Granite samples were also analysed mineralogically. It was observed that the presence of large amount orthoclase and radiogenic accessory minerals are the sources of high activity concentration levels.

Abstract
Chondrocytes in the growth plate undergo a characteristic sequel of differentiation processes, finally leading in their death by apoptosis. The mechanisms that mediate these remarkable biological phenomenon are still widely unknown. For this study, growth plates from five resected polydactylic infantile fingers were taken and immunostained for APO-1 and Caspase-8, two apoptosis-mediating proteins. The expression of both proteins was examined in the resting zone, proliferating zone, and hypertrophic zone, representing the maturation stages of the growth plate. Positive cells for APO-1 and Caspase-8 were found in all zones of the physis with a significant increase from the resting to the hypertrophic zone (from 17.4% to 33.067% for APO-1 and from 13.17% to 28.22% for Caspase-8). Our findings suggest that both APO-1 and Caspase-8 are involved in chondrocyte development in the growth plate, predominantly near to the closure area.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to gather data on the morphology of the uterus during its development, to provide detailed information regarding the neighboring structures and its variations using anatomical dissections. STUDY DESIGN Eighty uteri acquired from female fetuses aged 10-40 weeks of gestation were used in this study. Firstly, the relationship between the fetal uterus and the linea terminalis and the position of the uterus within the pelvic cavity was noted. Then the distance between the fundus of the uterus to the promontory and pubic symphysis were measured. Fetal uteri were classified according to their physical appearances. Finally the lengths of the corpus and cervix in three planes and the anteflexion angle were measured. RESULTS During the fetal period, the fundus of the uterus was above the linea terminalis in 94% and below it in 6% of the cases. The distance between the fundus of the uterus and the promontory significantly correlated with the distance between the fundus of the uterus and the pubic symphysis (p<0.001). This was true for the correlation between the gestational age and the orthogonal lengths of the uterine corpus and cervix (p<0.001). As the gestational age advanced, the anteflexion angle was noted to reduce from 177 degrees to 120 degrees . The shape of the uterus was either cylindrical, pear-shaped, heart-shaped or hourglass-shaped during the fetal period. CONDENSATION We believe that the data obtained through dissections of the human fetuses in this study will help identifying uterine developmental variations, anomalies and pathologies and will contribute to the studies carried out in obstetrics, perinatology, forensic medicine and fetal pathology departments.
