Abstract
OBJECTIVE The radiological evaluation of the postsurgical middle ear is complex due to the intricate anatomy of this region and the wide variety of procedures and materials used iin middle ear surgery. Knowledge of these factors will enable normal postsurgical changes to be differentiated from complications. This article describes the most common surgical procedures in the middle ear, their indications, and the normal radiological appearance after these procedures. It reviews the most common causes of failure in stapes surgery, in surgery for chronic otitis media, and in surgery for cholesteatoma, suggesting the best imaging method to assess the middle ear in each case. CONCLUSION Computed tomography enables the evaluation of prostheses and the aeration of the cavities, whereas magnetic resonance imaging makes it possible to characterize the possible occupation of the cavities and is the technique of choice for the follow-up of closed mastoidectomy for cholesteatomas.

Abstract
AIM Acetaminophen is widely used in hospital settings and often considered as nontoxic. We conducted a multicentric study in order to evaluate its proper use. METHOD Prescriptions from five general hospitals were analyzed, according to dose adjustments required in renal or liver failure, weight or chronic alcoholism, determined using a literature review. Other criteria have been assessed: indication for parenteral access, accuracy of administration time and pain assessment. RESULTS Among the 1256 analyzed prescriptions, 21% are non-compliants. The main causes of non-compliance (NC) are adjustments to weight and renal failure. Higher NC rates concern chronic alcoholism and liver failure. CONCLUSION Misuse of acetaminophen seems related to a lack of official recommendations concerning dose adjustments. Hospital pharmacists have an important role to play in the promotion of proper use of acetaminophen. Therefore we established a prescribing aid.

Abstract
Pediatric sensorineural hearing loss is a major cause of disability; although inner ear malformations account for only 20-40% of all cases, recognition and characterization will be vital for the proper management of these patients. In this article relevant anatomy and development of inner ear are surveyed. The role of neuroimaging in pediatric sensorineural hearing loss and cochlear preimplantation study are assessed. The need for a universal system of classification of inner ear malformations with therapeutic and prognostic implications is highlighted. And finally, the radiological findings of each type of malformation are concisely described and depicted. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging play a crucial role in the characterization of inner ear malformations and allow the assessment of the anatomical structures that enable the selection of appropriate treatment and surgical approach.

Abstract
The external ear is accessible to direct examination; the clinical history and otoscopy are sufficient to diagnose and treat most diseases of the external ear. We aim to describe the normal anatomy of the external ear, specify the indications for imaging tests, and review the clinical and radiological manifestations of the most common diseases affecting the external ear. We classify these diseases according to their origin into congenital, inflammatory, infectious, or traumatic disease or benign bone tumors or malignant tumors. Imaging does not play an important role in diseases of the external ear, but in certain clinical scenarios it can be crucial for reaching a concrete diagnosis and establishing the best treatment. Computed tomography is the first-choice technique for most diseases. Magnetic resonance imaging complements computed tomography and makes it possible to differentiate among different tissue types and to evaluate the extension of disease accurately.

Abstract
Methotrexate (MTX) is a cytotoxic agent prescribed at high dose in treatment of malignancy. Association of MTX to proton pump inhibitor (PPI) is not recommended if doses are more than 20 mg per weeks and only to take into account for smaller doses. Review relate some cases of delayed elimination of methotrexate in patients taking PPI, which increase risk of toxic event. However, currently there is no status quo on interaction between PPI and MTX according to available data. We report two clinical cases illustrating one more time a toxic event to MTX in presence of PPI. In absence of risk/benefit ratio set correctly, an assessment of appropriateness of PPI prescription before MTX therapy can limit an iatrogenic risk.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Analysis and validation of hospital prescriptions by the pharmacy department, although mandatory since 1991, appears relatively uncommon. Little is known of the nature and frequency of the actions taken by clinical pharmacists during this process. OBJECTIVE To describe the nature and frequency of pharmaceutical interventions in a large university hospital. METHODS We reviewed interventions during the pharmaceutical analysis of prescriptions in a surgical ward, a general medical ward and a short-stay hospital unit over a 5-year period. RESULTS Pharmacists took some type of action in 1438 of the 13,760 prescriptions analyzed (10.4%). Drug interactions accounted for 30.9% of the interventions; 20.2% concerned dose adaptation in cases of renal insufficiency; 13.8% proposed a change from injectable to oral drugs; and 4.1% concerned the physicochemical incompatibility of the simultaneous administration of two drugs through the same infusion line. Drug interactions most frequently involved oral fluoroquinolones and anticoagulants. Dose adaptation was suggested most often for amoxicillin, buflomedil, ofloxacin and allopurinol, while the pharmacists most often proposed changing mixtures of multivitamins, omeprazole, imidazole derivatives and fluoroquinolones from parenteral to oral administration. Physicochemical incompatibility was most frequently associated with furosemide or nicardipine and with antibiotics. CONCLUSION The analysis of prescriptions by a pharmacist is useful for medical teams: it helps to modify common attitudes towards prescribing drugs and contributes to their appropriate use and to the prevention of adverse events.
