Abstract
Inflammation is strictly associated with cancer and plays a key role in tumor development and progression. Several epidemiological studies have demonstrated that inflammation can predispose to tumors, therefore targeting inflammation and the molecules involved in the inflammatory process could represent a good strategy for cancer prevention and therapy. In the past, several clinical studies have demonstrated that many anti-inflammatory agents, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are able to interfere with the tumor microenvironment by reducing cell migration and increasing apoptosis and chemo-sensitivity. This review focuses on the link between inflammation and cancer by describing the anti-inflammatory agents used in cancer therapy, and their mechanisms of action, emphasizing the use of novel anti-inflammatory agents with significant anticancer activity.

Abstract
Stem cell-based therapies for repair and regeneration of different tissues are becoming more important in the treatment of several diseases. Adult stem cells currently symbolize the most available source of cell progenitors for tissue engineering and repair and can be harvested using minimally invasive procedures. Moreover, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), the most widely used stem cells in stem cell-based therapies, are multipotent progenitors, with capability to differentiate into cartilage, bone, connective, muscle, and adipose tissue. So far, bone marrow has been regarded as the main source of MSCs. To date, human adult adipose tissue may be the best suitable alternative source of MSCs. Adipose stem cells (ASCs) can be largely extracted from subcutaneous human adult adipose tissue. A large number of studies show that adipose tissue contains a biologically and clinically interesting heterogeneous cell population called stromal vascular fraction (SVF). The SVF may be employed directly or cultured for selection and expansion of an adherent population, so called adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs). In recent years, literature based on data related to SVF cells and ASCs has augmented considerably: These studies have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of SVF cells and ASCs in vivo in animal models. On the basis of these observations, in several countries, various clinical trials involving SVF cells and ASCs have been permitted. This review aims at summarizing data regarding either ASCs cellular biology or ASCs-based clinical trials and at discussing the possible future clinical translation of ASCs and their potentiality in cell-based tissue engineering.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy holds promise for treating diseases and tissue repair. Regeneration of skeletal muscle tissue that is lost during pathological muscle degeneration or after injuries is sustained by the production of new myofibers. Human Adipose stem cells (ASCs) have been reported to regenerate muscle fibers and reconstitute the pericytic cell pool after myogenic differentiation in vitro. Our aim was to evaluate the differentiation potential of constructs made from a new cross-linked hyaluronic acid (XHA) scaffold on which different sorted subpopulations of ASCs were loaded. Thirty days after engraftment in mice, we found that NG2(+) ASCs underwent a complete myogenic differentiation, fabricating a human skeletal muscle tissue, while NG2(-) ASCs merely formed a human adipose tissue. Myogenic differentiation was confirmed by the expression of MyoD, MF20, laminin, and lamin A/C by immunofluorescence and/or RT-PCR. In contrast, adipose differentiation was confirmed by the expression of adiponectin, Glut-4, and PPAR-γ. Both tissues formed expressed Class I HLA, confirming their human origin and excluding any contamination by murine cells. In conclusion, our study provides novel evidence that NG2(+) ASCs loaded on XHA scaffolds are able to fabricate a human skeletal muscle tissue in vivo without the need of a myogenic pre-differentiation step in vitro. We emphasize the translational significance of our findings for human skeletal muscle regeneration.

Abstract
The accumulation of adipose tissue in the body occurs because the energy introduced with food and drink exceeds that expense, but to understand why this imbalance is established and why it is maintained over time, it is important to consider the main causes and risk factors of excess weight. In this review, we will refer to the main factors linked to obesity, starting from oxidative stress to hormonal factors including the role of obesity in breast cancer. Among the many hypotheses formulated on the etiopathology of obesity, a key role can be attributed to the relationship between stress oxidative and intestinal microbiota. Multiple evidences tend to show that genetic, epigenetic, and lifestyle factors contribute to determine in the obese an imbalance of the redox balance correlated with the alteration of the intestinal microbial flora. Obesity acts negatively on the wound healing, in fact several studies indicate morbid obesity significantly increased the risk of a post-operative wound complication and infection. Currently, in the treatment of obesity, medical interventions are aimed not only at modifying caloric intake, but also to modulate and improve the composition of diet with the aim of rebalancing the microbiota-redox state axis.

Abstract
Cosmetic surgery represents a particular application of plastic surgery, in which the operative competence of the discipline is focused not on the correction of pathological disorders, but on the correction of some morphologic traits not accepted by the patients, or not adherent with the aesthetic canons of the time, although they are absolutely compatible with the norm. As a consequence, cosmetic surgery recognizes subjective indications. According to a particular literature on the subject, patients seeking these interventions would live a dualism between (their own) body image and inner self-image. Very psychotic case histories would come out of this. A base psychological approach adopted by the surgeon, competent both in the surgical and the psychological level, is absolutely needed. In this study, the psychological features of patients seeking cosmetic surgery were explored in an attempt to define common profiles or prevalent characteristics, and to isolate major psychiatric disorders. Patient self-esteem and physical self-perception also were investigated.

Abstract
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been defined as 'a cell within a tumor that possesses the capacity to self-renew and to cause the heterogeneous lineages of cancer cells that comprise the tumor'. The CSC hypothesis postulates that a small subpopulation of cancer cells drives tumor initiation, growth and metastasis. CSCs have been isolated from breast cancer using CD44+/CD24-/low phenotype. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the expression of CD44+/CD24-/low in two diverse breast carcinomas (ductal and lobular), and to determine the correlation between expression of CD44+/CD24-/low, and clinicopathological characteristics starting from human fresh breast cancer specimens. We analyzed specimens from 57 patients using CD44 and CD24 markers by flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry and correlated the CD44+/CD24-/low phenotype with clinicopathological characteristics. Moreover, mammosphere formation was tested. In all specimens tested, CD44+/CD24-/low phenotype was detectable with mean percentage of 4.73% as confirmed also by immunohistochemical analyses. A significant statistical association was found among these phenotypic groups and age, grade G3, estrogen and progesterone receptor, Ki-67 as well as lymph node metastasis. No correlation was found for histological type. In conclusion, our data showed that CD44+/CD24-/low phenotype was found at a high frequency in tumors pT2, G3, pN3, positive for Ki-67, and negative for estrogen and progesterone receptors highlighting the hypothesis that CD44+/CD24-/low profile correlates with the more aggressive clinical-pathological features of the disease.

Abstract
Poland syndrome comprises a unilateral absence of the large pectoral muscle, ipsilateral symbrachydactyly, and occasionally other malformations of the anterior chest wall and breast. The condition is more frequent among males, and usually occurs on the right hemithorax in the unilateral form. The syndrome is believed to be caused by a genetic disorder that reduces the embryonal circulation in the interior chest artery: the stronger the interaction, the more severe the pathology. This article analyzes an unusual pathologic case in which the 17-year-old patient lacked the large pectoral muscle on the left side, but showed no arterial alteration. This case raises questions as to the true pathogenesis of this syndrome.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyaluronans exist in different forms, accordingly with molecular weight and degree of crosslinking. Here, we tested the capability to induce osteogenic differentiation in hDPSCs (human dental pulp stem cells) of three hyaluronans forms: linear pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronans at high and (HHA) low molecular weight (LHA) and hybrid cooperative complexes (HCC), containing both sizes. METHODS hDPSCs were treated with HHA, LHA, HCC for 7, 14 and 21 days. The effects of hyaluronans on osteogenic differentiation were evaluated by qRT-PCR and WB of osteogenic markers and by Alizarin Red S staining. To identify the involved pathway, CD44 was analyzed by immunofluorescence, and YAP/TAZ expression was measured by qRT-PCR. Moreover, YAP/TAZ inhibitor-1 was used, and the loss of function of YAP/TAZ was evaluated by qRT-PCR, WB and immunofluorescence. RESULTS We showed that all hyaluronans improves osteogenesis. Among these, HCC is the main inducer of osteogenesis, along with overexpression of bone related markers and upregulating CD44. We also found that this biological process is subordinate to the activation of YAP/TAZ pathway. CONCLUSIONS We found that HA's molecular weight can have a relevant impact on HA performance for bone regeneration, and we unveil a new molecular mechanism by which HA acts on stem cells.

Abstract
The human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), the etiological agent of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), shows a variety of biological properties, which may constitute an obstacle to development of effective vaccines or antiretroviral therapy. To characterize Brazilian strains of HIV-1, we studied 24 viruses isolated from blood samples of HIV-1-positive patients from different regions of the country. To examine the cell tropism and the virus ability to form syncytia, primary macrophages and the CD4+ T cell line MT-2 were infected with these viruses. We found that 22 isolates replicated well in macrophages (macrophage-tropic isolates), 2 infected only MT-2 cells (T cell line tropic variants), while 6 of them grew in both cells. We found 8 syncytium-inducing (SI) and 16 non-SI (NSI) isolates. Continuous cultures of 18 isolates were established in the CCR5+/CXCR4+ cell line PM-1, and SI/NSI features of these viruses were confirmed by cell fusion assay with uninfected CD4+ T cell lines (PM-1, MT-2, H9, and SUP-T1). The coreceptor usage of 18 isolates was investigated by infecting U87 cells transfected with CD4 and chemokine receptors, and we found that 11 isolates infected only CCR5+ cells, 3 only CXCR4+ cells, whereas 4 used both coreceptors. We also observed that X4 isolates were more sensitive to neutralization by dextran sulfate than R5 or R5X4 viruses. Our findings show that the Brazilian isolates are phenotypically similar to those prevalent in other regions, which could mean that therapeutic strategies based on HIV-1 phenotypic properties would be efficient in Brazil, as in other countries.

Abstract
Stahl syndrome, known also as "Satiro's ear", is a deformation of the auricle described in the nineteeth century by Stahl who included it in a classification of various deformities of ear:-Helix transversus spleniformis-Crus anthelicis trifurcata-Crus superior turgidumAt present Stahl's ear is included in the second group for the abnonnal cartilaginous pleat which extends from the Crus anthelix to the edge of elix deforming in this way the regular curvature of ear and amplifying the triangular hole. It's frequently associated to other aesthetic deformities of the auricle itself and above all among oriental peoples; the pathogenetic origin of this deformation has to be connected with an hereditary, familial character confirmed by the diffusion of this deformation among the members of the same family, reaching its highest expression in identical twins where its manifestation is about at seventy-five percent. Besides the hereditary-familial hypothesis, we find a second hypothesis according to which the cartilaginous deformity is connected with an altered growth of an instrinsic muscle of ear, the transverse muscle [1,4]. The solution of the problem is surgical, through the Chongcet technique [9], modified and applied in the post-operating using particular remedies.

Abstract
Three different methods of sedation or sedoanalgesia using remifentanil, Propofol, or midazolam to increase intra- and postoperative comfort and to reduce neuroendocrine stress in patients who had undergone typical ambulatory cosmetic surgery under local anesthesia were studied. A sample of 90 patients who underwent upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty to correct baggy eyelids or otoplasty to correct protruding ears was selected according to standard criteria for the study. Remifentanil provided the best tolerability profile and the most effective perioperative pain control among the substances studied, demonstrating it to be a valid drug for modern sedoanalgesia aimed at increasing the well-being of patients undergoing ambulatory cosmetic surgery.

Abstract
This study examined the results obtained with a modern apparatus for laser hair removal (neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet [Nd:YAG] laser at long impulses with a wave-length of 1,064 nm; Q-switched laser) over a follow-up period of 3 years. A large heterogeneous group of 480 patients was taken into consideration. These patients were treated according to a standard protocol with monthly checkups and a personalized protocol at deferred appointments. The results, discovered by means of the most objective procedure possible, were retrieved and put into a graph showing two different curves for the repopulation of hair. In their clinical travels, the authors observed an average variable regrowth of 40% to 65%, allowing them to affirm that laser hair removal using Nd:YAG at long impulses is decisively efficient in obtaining long-term results. The use of a protocol (denominated "prolonged monthly checkup") with laser sessions at ever-decreasing periods permits, among other things, more outstanding and advantageous results for the patient. Thanks to more efficiently synchronized phases of the biologic hair cycle, this shortens and moves the telegenic phases closer and also renders the anagenic phases (those in which the selective photoermolysis on the pilipheric follicle proves to be efficient) more efficient. Personalization of the treatment relative to the monthly health checkup sessions is of fundamental importance to the scope of obtaining the best results in terms of cost-benefit rate, provided submassimal fluxes are (i.e., those well-tolerated by the patient) used. All this allows hair removal that is not definitive, but which becomes progressively permanent (i.e., characterized by ever-growing periods of lack of hair sustained by sporadic maintenance laser sessions based on the individual's necessity).

Abstract
A subtle case report of primary Hodgkin’s disease of the breast. Definition and staging of primary lymphomas of the breast. A comprehensive review of the Literature about this kind of disease. Introduction According to literature, primary Hodgkin’s lymphomas of the breast represent one of the rarer entity in the primary breast lymphoma (PBL) scenario. This is the reason why these tumors are insidious in mammary oncology. Presentation of the case We report a case of HL primitive breast in an elderly patient in whom radiology suspected an advanced breast cancer with ipsilateral axillary involvement and in which the fine-needle aspiration came back not significant. Discussion Eighteen cases of primary Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the breast has been described in Literature in a very large period of time: from 1928 to 2016. The nodular sclerosis type is the most frequent histological variant. Conclusion Their rarity together with the fact that radiological investigations are not significant for the purpose of an exact diagnosis, make these lesions extremely difficult to identify.

Abstract
Neurofibromatosis is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder, although it may occur as a spontaneous mutation; clinically it is characterized by typical peripheral nerve tumours (Neurofibromas) and cafe au lait spots; they are more frequent over the trunk and legs. In this particular case study a patient with neurofibromatosis is described, who, besides the characteristic cafe au tait spots at birth, has developed, late and rapidly, lesions of neurofibromatous origin in the submammary region, right hip and bilaterally in the areolar region.

Abstract
Total intravenous anesthesia and the new parameter for administering the most recent drugs, target-controlled infusion, as well as the introduction of new short half-life molecules that do not accumulate have made anesthesia in day surgery safer. In this study, the use of auditory-evoked potentials monitoring made it possible to determine the target plasma concentration of propofol that induces a narcosis sufficiently deep and strictly necessary for effectiveness, thus minimizing the anesthesiologic risk linked to the use and the dosing of the drug, reducing the hospitalization time, and decreasing the side effects for patients undergoing day surgery mammoplasty.

Abstract
We present a case of giant lipoma in the left lumbar region. Movements were hindered, especially rotation, flexion and extension of the trunk. The size of the bulk presents differential diagnostic problems with liposarcoma. Surgical excision was performed to confirm diagnosis with histological evaluation. Introduction Lipomas are the most common benign tumors of the adipose tissue and can be located in any region of the body. In most cases lipomas are small and asymptomatic, but they can at times reach considerable dimensions and, depending on their anatomic site, hinder movements, get inflamed, cause lymphedema, pain and/or a compression syndrome. Presentation of case We here report the case of an otherwise healthy patient who came to our observation with a giant bulk in the left lumbar region which had been showing progressive growth in the previous 5–6 years. Physical examination, ultrasound and MRI were carried out in order to characterize the size, vascularization and limits of the lesion. Due to the pain and restriction of movement that this bulky lesion caused, surgical excision of the lesion was performed. Discussion Giant lipomas display an important differential diagnosis problem with malignant neoplasms, especially liposarcomas, with which they share many features; often the final diagnosis rests on histological evaluation. We here discuss the diagnostic problems that arise with a giant lipoma and all the possible approaches concerning treatment of such a big lesion, explaining the reasons of our approach and management of a common tumor in our case presenting unusual dimensions and location. Conclusion Our approach revealed to be successful in order to nurse our patient's pain, restore the mobility and address the aesthetic issues that this lesion caused. Postoperative checkups were carried out for one year and no signs of relapse have been reported.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Gynecomastia is the benign proliferation of the glandular tissue in the male breast. This condition is thought to be caused by the imbalance between estrogen action relative to androgen action at the breast tissue level. Bilateral gynecomastia is frequently found in the neonatal period, early in puberty, and with increasing age. Prepubertal unilateral gynecomastia in the absence of endocrine abnormalities is extremely rare, with only a few cases in literature. PRESENTATION OF CASE We present an otherwise healthy boy of 12 years old with unilateral breast masses. No abnormalities were found on ultrasonography and on all endocrine parameters. Treatment consisted in a new "modified" Webster technique. DISCUSSION The results confirmed validity of this technique in terms of esthetic and functional results, and patient satisfaction. Atypical presentations of gynecomastia are often not recognized. The main pathophysiology of gynecomastia is alteration in the balance between the stimulatory effect of estrogen and the inhibitory effects of androgens on the development of the breast. If there is no causal treatment, surgical resection is the therapy of first choice. CONCLUSION The exact mechanism of unilateral gynecomastia formation in our case is unclear. The evaluation of unilateral gynecomastia can therefore be complex. In conclusion, the surgical treatment of unilateral gynecomastia requires an individual approach, based on an appropriate diagnostic algorithm.

Abstract
The classic mini-abdominoplasty is a surgery generally indicated for cases in which cutaneous laxity of the abdomen's inferior region is associated with adiposity. However, in some cases, the characteristics of the abdomen are such that resort to a traditional mini-abdominoplasty would involve an unsatisfactory final result due to the unavoidable caudalization of the navel. In answer to this problem, Pontes developed the type 4 modified mini-abdominoplasty. This procedure adds to the classic technique a complete resection of the navel and its transposition so that it leaves a residual vertical scar. With our version of the technique, the scar is more aesthetic in shape and appearance, horizontal, and parallel to the suprapubic scar.

Abstract
Polycaprolactone nanofibers are used as scaffolds in the field of tissue engineering for tissue regeneration or drug delivery. Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a biodegradable hydrophobic polyester used to obtain implantable nanostructures, which are clinically applicable due to their biological safety. Polydatin (PD), a glycosidic precursor of resveratrol, is known for its antioxidant, antitumor, antiosteoporotic, and bone regeneration activities. We aimed to use the osteogenic capacity of polydatin to create a biomimetic innovative and patented scaffold consisting of PCL-PD for bone tissue engineering. Both osteosarcoma cells (Saos-2) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were used to test the in vitro cytocompatibility of the PD-PCL scaffold. Reverse-phase (RP) HPLC was used to evaluate the timing release of PD from the PCL-PD nanofibers and the MTT assay, scanning electron microscopy, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity were used to evaluate the proliferation, adhesion, and cellular differentiation in both osteosarcoma and human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) seeded on PD-PCL nanofibers. The proliferation of osteosarcoma cells (Saos-2) on the PD-PCL scaffold decreased when compared to cells grown on PLC nanofibers, whereas the proliferation of MSCs was comparable in both PCL and PD-PCL nanofibers. Noteworthy, after 14 days, the ALP activity was higher in both Saos-2 cells and MSCs cultivated on PD-PCL than on empty scaffolds. Moreover, the same cells showed a spindle-shaped morphology after 14 days when grown on PD-PCL as shown by SEM. In conclusion, we provide evidence that nanofibers appropriately coated with PD support the adhesion and promote the osteogenic differentiation of both human osteosarcoma cells and MSCs.

Abstract
There are various models for practicing microsurgical anastomoses, from synthetic to ex vivo and in vivo biological ones. In this study, we present the domestic turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) as an ex vivo biological model in the practice of surgical anastomoses. In our opinion, it represents a model that is very similar to a human one, low cost, and easy to find. In fact, our study shows that the diameters of the arteries and veins used for anastomoses (tibial artery diameter: 2.5 ± 0.6 mm; tibial vein diameter: 3.5 ± 1.2 mm) are similar to those of human arteries and veins most frequently used in microsurgical free flaps. So, we believe that this animal model is a great model for microsurgical training for doctors who approach this difficult and long to learn discipline.
