Abstract
AIM To develop and validate a deep learning (DL) algorithm for the automated detection and classification of carotid artery plaques (CAPs) on computed tomography angiography (CTA) images. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective study enrolled 400 patients (300 in the Center Ⅰ and 100 in Ⅱ). Three radiologists co-labeled CAPs, and their revised calcification status (noncalcified, mixed, and calcified) was regarded as ground truth. Center Ⅰ patients were randomly divided into training and internal validation datasets, while Center Ⅱ patients served as the external validation dataset. Carotid artery regions were segmented using a modified 3D-UNet network, followed by CAPs detection and classification using a ResUNet-based architecture in a two-step DL system. The DL model's detection and classification performance were evaluated on the validation dataset using precision-recall curve, free-response receiver operating characteristic (fROC) curve, Cohen's kappa, and ROC curve analysis. RESULTS The DL model had achieved 83.4% sensitivity at 3.0 false positives (FPs)/CTA scan in internal validation and 78.9% in external validation. F1-scores were 0.764 and 0.769 at the optimal threshold, and area under fROC curves were 0.756 and 0.738, respectively, indicating good overall accuracy for CAP detection. The DL model also showed good performance for the ternary classification of CAPs, with Cohen's kappa achieved 0.728 and 0.703 in both validation datasets. CONCLUSION This study demonstrated the feasibility of using a fully automated DL-based algorithm for the detection and ternary classification of CAPs, which could be helpful for the workloads of radiologists.

Amplitude Analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} Decay. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131801. Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to short-distance physics effects, sensitive to processes beyond the standard model, are extracted directly from the data through a q^{2}-unbinned amplitude analysis, where q^{2} is the μ^{+}μ^{-} invariant mass squared. Long-distance contributions, which originate from nonfactorizable QCD processes, are systematically investigated, and the most accurate assessment to date of their impact on the physical observables is obtained. The pattern of measured corrections to the short-distance couplings is found to be consistent with previous analyses of b- to s-quark transitions, with the largest discrepancy from the standard model predictions found to be at the level of 1.8 standard deviations. The global significance of the observed differences in the decay is 1.4 standard deviations.

Phosphorus release from the sediment of a drinking water reservoir under the influence of seasonal hypoxia. THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2024; 917:170490. Abstract
Seasonal sediment internal phosphorus (P) release may cause water eutrophication and impair water quality in drinking water reservoir. During a year-long field investigation, the effects of the microenvironment on the release of internal phosphorus were meticulously analyzed using high-resolution peepers technique and microelectrode system. The release mechanisms of P fractions from the reservoir sediments were also explored. The results showed that seasonal fluctuations in temperature, dissolved oxygen, redox potential, and pH at the sediment-water interface impacted the release of P fractions from the studied reservoir sediment. Higher diffusive fluxes of soluble reactive PO43- and Fe2+ across the sediment-water interface (SWI) were observed in the warmer season and were approximately 14.5 times and 16.5 times than those in winter, respectively. Driven by seasonal hypoxia, the reservoir sediment functioned as a P sink in winter and became a P source in summer and autumn. The reduction of Fe-bound P and mineralization of organic P were the primary mechanisms driving sediment P release, which explains the increased P flux in the warmer season and lower P flux in winter. The findings indicated that elevated temperatures and anaerobic conditions were conducive to the activation of P in sediments, whereas lower temperatures and aerobic conditions promoted the immobilization of P. This study provided new insights into seasonal P cycling in reservoirs that can contribute to the formulation of targeted reservoir management strategies.

Combining dredging with modified zeolite thin-layer capping to control nitrogen release from eutrophic lake sediment. JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 2024; 353:120291. Abstract
Dredging is widely used to control internal sediment nitrogen (N) pollution during eutrophic lake restoration. However, the effectiveness of dredging cannot be maintained for long periods during seasonal temperature variations. This study used modified zeolite (MZ) as a thin-layer capping material to enhance dredging efficiency during a year-long field sediment core incubation period. Our results showed that dredging alone more effectively reduced pore water N, N flux, and sediment N content than MZ capping but showed more dramatic changes during the warm seasons. The N flux in dredged sediment in summer was 1.8 and 2.5 times that in spring and autumn, respectively, indicating a drastic N regeneration process in the short term. In contrast, the combination method reduced the extra 10% pore water N, 22% N flux, and 8% sediment organic N content compared with dredging alone and maintained high stability during seasonal changes. The results indicated that the addition of MZ to the surface of dredged sediment not only enhanced the control effect of dredging by its adsorption capacity but may also smooth the N regeneration process via successive accumulation (in the channel of the material) and activation of bacteria for months, which was evidenced by the variation in microbial diversity in the MZ treatment. As a result, the combination of dredging with modified zeolite simultaneously enhanced the efficiency and stability of the single dredging method in controlling sediment N content and its release, exhibiting great prospects for long-term application in eutrophic lakes with severe pollution from internal N loading.

Abstract
The first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+} and Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector between 2016 and 2018. The branching fraction ratios are measured to be B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[6.08±0.51(stat)±0.40(syst)]%,B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[15.81±0.87(stat)±0.44(syst)±0.16(ext)]%. In addition, using the Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+} decay channel, the Ω_{c}^{0} baryon mass is measured to be M(Ω_{c}^{0})=2695.28±0.07(stat)±0.27(syst)±0.30(ext) MeV, improving the precision of the previous world average by a factor of 4.

Enhanced Production of Λ_{b}^{0} Baryons in High-Multiplicity pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:081901. Abstract
The production rate of Λ_{b}^{0} baryons relative to B^{0} mesons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=13 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} production cross sections shows a significant dependence on both the transverse momentum and the measured charged-particle multiplicity. At low multiplicity, the ratio measured at LHCb is consistent with the value measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, and increases by a factor of ∼2 with increasing multiplicity. At relatively low transverse momentum, the ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} cross sections is higher than what is measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, but converges with the e^{+}e^{-} ratio as the momentum increases. These results imply that the evolution of heavy b quarks into final-state hadrons is influenced by the density of the hadronic environment produced in the collision. Comparisons with several models and implications for the mechanisms enforcing quark confinement are discussed.

Abstract
Objective: To assess the efficacy, safety, and related prognostic factors associated with the P-GemDOx regimen as a first-line treatment for patients with early-stage extranodal natural killer (NK) /T cell lymphoma (ENKTL) . Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on sixty early-stage ENKTL patients treated with the P-GemDOx regimen who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between August 2015 and May 2021. The Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test was used to compare group differences, and the Log-rank test was used to compare the differences in survival. Survival outcomes and prognostic factors were examined. Results: After completing 4 to 6 cycles of P-GemDOx chemotherapy, the overall response rate (ORR) was 88.3%, with forty-six patients (76.7% ) achieving complete response (CR). The 4-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were (66.3±7.1) % and (79.5±6.0) %, respectively. According to the PINK/PINK-E model, there was no significant difference in survival outcomes among risk groups. 23.3% of patients experienced progression of disease within 24 months (POD<24). OS estimates differed significantly (P<0.001) between the POD<24 group (n=14) and the POD≥24 group (n=46). Analysis showed that SUVmax > 12.8 at diagnosis, non-single nasal cavity infiltration, and response less than CR after 4-6 cycles all had a significant association with POD24. We used these data as the basis for predicting POD<24 international prognostic index (POD24-IPI). Patients were stratified into low-risk (no risk factors), intermediate-risk (one risk factor), or high risk (two or three risk factors). These groups were associated with 4-year OS rate of 100%, (85.6±9.7) %, and (65.0±10.2) %, respectively (P=0.014). The P-GemDOx regimen was well tolerated, with hematological toxicity being the main side effect. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the P-GemDOx regimen is effective and safe in the first-line treatment of early-stage ENKTL, and POD24-IPI is a promising prognostic model.

Abstract
The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006 rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024 ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014 ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Abstract
A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The CP-violation parameters are measured to be S_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.717±0.013(stat)±0.008(syst) and C_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.008±0.012(stat)±0.003(syst). This measurement of S_{ψK_{S}^{0}} represents the most precise single measurement of the CKM angle β to date and is more precise than the current world average. In addition, measurements of the CP-violation parameters of the individual channels are reported and a combination with the LHCb Run 1 measurements is performed.

Abstract
Developing a long-term method for controlling sediment N and P release is important for enabling lake restoration. In this study, inactivation methods using lanthanum-modified clay, modified zeolite, or planting aquatic vegetation and their combinations were used in the control internal sediment loading (pore water N and P concentrations and their fluxes), and the efficacies of the methods were analyzed. The results indicated that compared to the control sediment, the addition of P sorbent, which was La and Al co-modified attapulgite (ACLA), and N sorbent, which was NaCl-modified zeolite (modified zeolite), planting of aquatic vegetation Vallisneria spiralis (V. spiralis), and a combination of sorbents and plants effectively reduced the porewater nutrient content and its fluxes across the sediment-water interface. However, the reduction in pore water nutrients and flux were superior when using a combination of clay inactivation and aquatic planting. The poorest sediment N and P control was achieved by planting V. spiralis alone. The addition of La and Al co-modified attapulgite (ACLA) and modified zeolite efficiently reduced N and P in the sediment, but the N and P sorbents did not achieve long-lasting nutrient release control. The high efficiency obtained by the combination of modified clay-based inactivation and V. spiralis was likely due to the strong chemical sorption capacity of clay and oxygenation by the rhizosphere of aquatic vegetation. These results show that a combination of chemical and ecological methods would be the most effective approach to remediate polluted sediments in the long term.

Dairy purchase behaviors: Increasing understanding of Chinese consumers using a consumer involvement segmentation approach. J Dairy Sci 2023; 106:8523-8537. Abstract
Understanding consumers' purchase behaviors is fundamental to the success of the dairy industry. With its economic importance, the Chinese market is critical to dairy producers in most countries around the world. However, understanding consumers in this market is particularly challenging, as these consumers often have a different relationship with dairy products than consumers elsewhere in the world, given the country's historical dairy-related scandals. This special relationship can be characterized by what consumer behavior researchers call "high involvement," indicating that Chinese dairy consumers often attempt to reduce the level of risk associated with buying dairy products. Surprisingly, although this relationship affects several important aspects of purchase behavior, examination of the concept of involvement in the dairy sector has not been widely considered. Of note, there is no understanding of how Chinese consumers vary in their involvement levels and their implications on their dairy purchase behaviors. Nor have there been involvement-based insights provided on how dairy companies can position their marketing strategy to suit the needs of these consumers better. Thus, this study proposes a new approach to understanding Chinese consumer dairy decisions by introducing "consumer involvement" as a segmentation tool through which individuals' behaviors can be predicated according to their involvement profile. Based on an online survey administered in Shanghai using 1,073 dairy consumers, principal component analysis confirmed involvement with dairy is a multidimensional construct with the following 4 factors: pleasure value, symbolic value, risk importance, and risk probability. A 2-step cluster analysis identified 4 consumer clusters based on their involvement profile: face-concerned dairy lover, carefree dairy consumer, cautious dairy lover, and confused dairy consumer. According to a one-way ANOVA test and cross-tabulation with χ2 test, these consumer segments behave differently in relation to the extensiveness of decision making, cue utilization, trust of information sources, and consumption behavior. The outcomes in this paper further explain why efforts to restore consumer trust for dairy products do not work among some consumers, as individuals may exhibit diverse attitudes toward such information due to their heterogeneous involvement levels. The study also provides suggestions for market practitioners and organizations to develop effective target market strategies and policies according to different consumer clusters.

Abstract
A flavor-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of the decay B_{s}^{0}→ϕϕ is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at the center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The CP-violating phase and direct CP-violation parameter are measured to be ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.042±0.075±0.009 rad and |λ|=1.004±0.030±0.009, respectively, assuming the same values for all polarization states of the ϕϕ system. In these results, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These parameters are also determined separately for each polarization state, showing no evidence for polarization dependence. The results are combined with previous LHCb measurements using pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.074±0.069 rad and |λ|=1.009±0.030. This is the most precise study of time-dependent CP violation in a penguin-dominated B meson decay. The results are consistent with CP symmetry and with the standard model predictions.

Seasonal sediment phosphorus release across sediment-water interface and its potential role in supporting algal blooms in a large shallow eutrophic Lake (Lake Taihu, China). THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2023; 896:165252. Abstract
Seasonal sediment internal phosphorus (P) release is known to affect annual algal blooms in eutrophic lakes. In this study, a year-long field investigation and laboratory sediment core incubation were conducted to study the relationship between sediment internal P cycling and algal growth in Lake Taihu. The results indicated that the concentrations of water total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll-a (Chla) correlated with seasonal temperature and were assumed to be caused by internal P release. From cold winter to warm seasons, sediment internal P (porewater P concentration and P flux) exhibits dynamic changes. Sediment porewater soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) and its flux in the summer were approximately five times and eight times those during winter, respectively. The release of sediment mobile P in the summer decreases its concentration and can supply SRP for algal blooms. Laboratory core incubation indicated that Chla and phycocyanin concentrations in the overlying water showed similar changes to sediment porewater P and P flux when cores were incubated from low to high temperature. The results of this study indicated that warmer conditions could increase the sediment porewater P concentration and sediment P flux into the bottom waters and consequently enhance sediment P availability to algae. This study provides new insights into the relationship between internal sediment P cycling and algal blooms in Lake Taihu.

Iron bound phosphorus predominates the contribution of phosphorus to lake system from terrigenous source: The evidence from the small watershed scale. WATER RESEARCH 2023; 245:120661. Abstract
The reduction of exogenous emissions of phosphorus (P) is a crucial measure for resolving eutrophication in lakes. However, the input of terrigenous materials still potentially contributes to an increase of P load in lake systems. In this study, we examined the phosphate oxygen isotope (δ18OP) of various P fractions in soils and sediments in a small lake watershed, namely, Shijiuhu watershed. The high-resolution in-situ diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) technology was also used to survey the dynamic processes of P diffusion from sediment particles to the water. The results demonstrated that lighter δ18OP values (16.2-19.5‰) for individual P fractions in lake sediments were detected compared to other land-use patterns, indicating the cumulative biological P recycling on anaerobic condition. Fe bound P (Fe-P) overall had heavier δ18OP values (17.3-24.8‰) than some of Ca bound P (Ca-P) and equilibrium values, suggesting that Fe-P conserved the parental isotope signatures from terrigenous source and could act as the ideal tracer for the lake sediments. The mixing effect of terrigenous detrital input and biological mineralization made the source identification uncertain by using Ca-P, which had a wider range of δ18OP values (13.0-26.6‰). Additionally, significantly positive correlation (r = 0.551-0.913, p<0.05) between soluble reactive P (SRP) and Fe2+ in interstitial water obtained using DGT measurement revealed the conspicuous release and desorption of solid Fe-P toward the water. High diffusion fluxes from the sediments toward the overlying water further demonstrated that the desorption of Fe-P in the soil-originated sediments toward the solution conspicuously facilitated the accumulation of SRP in lake water. The first-time application of δ18OP isotope combined with in-situ DGT techniques certified that it's feasible for the contribution confirmation from terrigenous to lacustrine environments, and presented the direct evidence for management strategy making about P control and eutrophication restoration at the catchment scale of lakes.

Abstract
The branching fraction of the rare decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ(1520)μ^{+}μ^{-} is measured for the first time, in the squared dimuon mass intervals q^{2}, excluding the J/ψ and ψ(2S) regions. The data sample analyzed was collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The result in the highest q^{2} interval, q^{2}>15.0 GeV^{2}/c^{4}, where theoretical predictions have the smallest model dependence, agrees with the predictions.

ADT Use and Nodal Irradiation in Men Receiving Post-Prostatectomy Salvage Radiotherapy within a Statewide Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e430-e431. [PMID: 37785407 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.1596] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) For men with biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy, salvage radiotherapy (SRT) is a standard of care. Outcomes are improved when SRT is delivered at lower PSA levels, and there has been increased emphasis on more timely treatment. With early SRT, however, there remains uncertainty as to the optimal use and duration of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and pelvic lymph node radiation (PLNRT). Moreover, PET imaging and genomic classifiers have emerged as tools to guide treatment decisions, but their uptake in routine practice is unknown. To address these questions, we analyzed a contemporary cohort treated with SRT within the Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium (MROQC). We hypothesized that ADT and PLNRT practices would reflect recent trial results in this setting. MATERIALS/METHODS Eligible patients receiving SRT at an MROQC center were enrolled from 06/09/20 to 11/04/22. Data was prospectively collected via patient-, physician-, and physicist-completed forms. Patients were matched to the Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC) database for additional treatment- and patient-related data. Univariable (UVA) and multivariable analyses (MVA) were performed to test associations between patient/tumor factors and ADT or PLNRT use. RESULTS A total of 191 patients across 26 centers were enrolled in the MROQC database. Of these, 116 were matched to the MUSIC database. Median time from RP to SRT was 17 months (IQR 8 - 33 months). The median post-RP PSA prior to SRT was 0.25 (IQR 0.16 - 0.60). Early SRT was defined as pre-SRT PSA ≤0.5, and 27% (n = 31/116) had a pre-SRT PSA >0.5. Twenty-eight were pT3b/T4, 97% were pN0/NX, and 51% had positive surgical margins. Fractionation was conventional (>28 fractions) in 58% and moderate hypofractionation (20-28 fractions) in 38%. Table 1 describes the patients receiving ADT and/or PLNRT. Median ADT duration was 6 mo (IQR 6 - 7 mo). MVA revealed pre-SRT PSA >0.5 (OR 5.05 [1.89 - 15.33]) and pT3b/T4 disease (OR 4.23 [1.40 - 14.56]) were significantly associated with ADT use (p <0.05), but not grade group (GG) or margin status. PLNRT was significantly associated with pre-SRT PSA >0.5 (OR 3.04 [1.21 - 8.42], p <0.05) but not pT stage, margin status, or GG. PET imaging was performed in 37% of men (52% negative, 21% prostate bed alone uptake, and 26% lymph node positivity) and genomic classifiers were performed in 24%. CONCLUSION Nearly 75% of biochemically recurrent prostate cancer patients within MROQC received early SRT, and about half received ADT. A pre-SRT PSA >0.5 was strongly associated with ADT and PLNRT. With prostate bed SRT alone, very few received ADT. Given the considerable heterogeneity in treatment, additional studies may help identify patients who most benefit from ADT + PLNRT, and who may be spared potential added toxicity.

Androgen Deprivation Therapy Use among Intermediate Risk Prostate Cancer Patients Undergoing Radiation Therapy across a Statewide Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e380-e381. [PMID: 37785288 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.2491] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) For men with intermediate (INT) risk prostate cancer, the addition of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) reduces risk of PSA failure, distant metastasis, and cancer-related mortality. Moreover, the relative reduction in cancer-related adverse outcomes with ADT use appears consistent across all INT risk subgroups. The absolute benefit of ADT, however, varies by baseline risk. In contemporary practice, it is unknown which clinical factors are most strongly associated with intended ADT use. Therefore, we sought to identify such factors within the diverse practices of the Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium (MROQC). MATERIALS/METHODS Patients with localized prostate cancer undergoing definitive radiation therapy were enrolled from 6/9/20 to 11/4/22 (n = 599). Standardized patient, physician, and physicist forms were used to collect baseline and follow-up information. Intended ADT use, defined by the treating physician, was prospectively collected and is the primary outcome of this analysis. Univariable (UVA) and multivariable analyses (MVA) associations with patient (age, race, comorbidities), tumor (T stage, Gleason, percent cores positive, and PSA), and practice-related (academic vs private) factors were performed. In addition, advanced modality testing (PET, MRI, and genomic classifiers) was available as of March 2021, and subgroup analysis were performed where appropriate. RESULTS A total 351 patients across 26 centers were enrolled with INT risk disease. ADT use was intended for 46% of men (n = 162/351) which differed by men with NCCN favorable INT (21%, n = 22/105) vs unfavorable INT risk disease (57%, n = 140/246), p<0.001. Sixty two percent (n = 100/162) had an intended ADT duration of 4-6 months and 21% (n = 34/162) had ≥12 months. Older age was associated with ADT use (70 vs 67, p < 0.01); there were no significant differences by race or comorbidities number. MVA showed Gleason 4+3 (OR 4.61 [2.91 - 7.42]) and > = 50% positive cores (2.56 [1.52 - 4.37]) were significantly associated with ADT use. No significant differences were noted based on practice setting. Pelvic MRI was obtained for 71% of men (n = 197/279), genomic classifiers in 47% (n = 130/279), and PET in 2% (n = 6/282). In the subset with MRI (n = 197), adverse features (ECE, SVI, or equivocal LNs) were associated with intended ADT use (OR 3.0 [1.4 - 7.1]) after adjustment for NCCN favorable/unfavorable INT risk classification. CONCLUSION Within a state-wide consortium, intended ADT use for intermediate prostate cancer is most strongly associated with Gleason score, ≥50% positive cores, NCCN unfavorable intermediate risk classification, and adverse features on MRI. Nearly half of men had genomic classifier testing underscoring the importance ongoing trials such as NRG/GU 010.

Dosimetric Predictors for Acute Esophagitis during Radiation Therapy for Lung Cancer: An Update of a Large Statewide Observational Study. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e24. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Acute esophagitis remains a clinical challenge during the treatment of locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Here, we analyze the dosimetric and patient-level characteristics associated with acute grade 2+ and 3+ esophagitis in patients undergoing radiation therapy for NSCLC across a statewide consortium. MATERIALS/METHODS Demographic, dosimetric, and acute toxicity data were prospectively collected for patients undergoing definitive radiation therapy +/- chemotherapy for stage II-III NSCLC from 2012-2022 across the Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium (MROQC). Logistic regression models were used to characterize the risk of grade 2+ and 3+ esophagitis as a function of dosimetric and clinical covariates. Multivariate regression models were fitted to predict the 50% risk of grade 2 esophagitis or 3% risk of grade 3 esophagitis at each dose value. RESULTS Of 1760 patients evaluated, 84.2% had stage III disease and 85.3% received concurrent chemotherapy. 79.2% of patients had an ECOG performance status ≤1. Rates of acute grade 2+ and 3+ esophagitis were 48.4% and 2.2%, respectively. On multivariate analyses, performance status, mean esophageal dose and esophageal D2cc were significantly associated with grade 2+ and 3+ esophagitis. Concurrent chemotherapy was associated with grade 2+ but not grade 3+ esophagitis. Dose-response relationships were modeled for grade 2+ and 3+ esophagitis by mean esophageal dose and esophageal D2cc, stratified by performance status and/or receipt of concurrent chemotherapy. For all patients, mean esophageal dose of 29 Gy and esophageal D2cc of 61 Gy corresponded to a 3% risk of acute grade 3+ esophagitis. For patients receiving chemotherapy, mean esophageal dose of 22 Gy and esophageal D2cc of 49.5 Gy corresponded to a 50% risk of acute grade 2+ esophagitis. CONCLUSION Performance status, concurrent chemotherapy, mean esophageal dose and esophageal D2cc are associated with acute esophagitis during definitive treatment of NSCLC. Models that quantitatively account for these factors can be useful in individualizing radiation plans. Mean esophageal dose of 29 Gy and esophageal D2cc of 61 Gy corresponded to a 3% risk of acute grade 3+ esophagitis and merit consideration as contemporary treatment planning constraints.

Assessing Patterns of Practice in Early-Stage Lung Cancer Radiation Therapy: Findings from a Large Statewide Consortium Study on Hypofractionation. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e42-e43. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) There are many different acceptable radiation dose and fractionation regimens for the treatment of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including hypofractionation (HypoRT). There are limited data supporting when to use HypoRT. We investigated which factors led physicians to choose HypoRT rather than stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) or conventional fractionation (CRT) for early-stage NSCLC patients in a statewide consortium. MATERIALS/METHODS We examined patients with T1-3N0M0 NSCLC treated at multiple institutions in a statewide consortium from January 2012-July 2022. We classified treatments as SBRT if 5 fractions or fewer, HypoRT if 6-20 fractions, and CRT if 1.8-2 Gy per fraction (Gy/Fx) for 25 or greater fractions. We excluded patients between 20 and 25 fractions as most appeared to be CRT that did not finish treatment (5% of total). We then performed a classification tree using age, race, gender, smoking status, T stage, PTV within 2cm of esophagus, PTV within 2cm of heart, and concurrent chemotherapy as covariates with a three-variable output (SBRT, HypoRT, and CRT). We excluded ECOG as it was not significant on initial analysis and was missing for 100 patients. We also reran the classification tree without CRT as an output to better discriminate between SBRT and HypoRT. RESULTS A total of 418 patients were included in the analysis. 184 patients had T1, 123 with T2, and 111 with T3 tumors. In total, 228 patients underwent SBRT (median 50 Gy), 51 patients HypoRT (median 60 Gy), and 139 CRT (median 63 Gy). Covariates significant for discriminating between all three treatment regimens included T2, T3 vs T1, PTV within 2cm of the esophagus, and T3 vs T2. 94% of T1 patients were treated with SBRT. Among T2 and T3 patients, those within 2cm of the esophagus were significantly more likely to be treated with CRT or HypoRT (80% vs 15%). Patients with T3 tumor not within 2cm of the esophagus, were more likely to be treated with CRT or HypoRT than the T2 patients (85% vs 36%). Patients treated with CRT were also more likely to receive chemotherapy, particularly for T3 tumors (80% received concurrent chemotherapy). Excluding CRT as an output variable, proximity to the heart became significant in addition to the other previously described covariates. Notably, the branch with the highest likelihood of HypoRT were patients with T2/T3 tumors within 2 cm of both the esophagus and heart (94% HypoRT vs 6% SBRT). Patients with tumors not close to central structures but with T3 rather than T2 tumors were more likely to be treated with HypoRT as well (62% vs 38%). CONCLUSION Based on this large prospective real-world data of early-stage NSCLC, larger tumors and those located near central structures are more likely to be treated with HypoRT. The patient's age, performance status, race, and smoking status were not significant in this analysis. Additional analysis on outcomes and toxicity related to treatments is underway.

Abstract
Two new excited states, Ω_{c}(3185)^{0} and Ω_{c}(3327)^{0}, are observed in the Ξ_{c}^{+}K^{-} invariant-mass spectrum using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Five previously observed excited Ω_{c}^{0} states are confirmed, namely Ω_{c}(3000)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3050)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3065)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3090)^{0}, and Ω_{c}(3119)^{0}. Abstract
An amplitude analysis of B^{0}→J/ψϕK_{S}^{0} decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Evidence with a significance of 4.0 standard deviations of a structure in the J/ψK_{S}^{0} system, named T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0}, is seen, with its mass and width measured to be 3991_{-10}^{+12} _{-17}^{+9} MeV/c^{2} and 105_{-25}^{+29} _{-23}^{+17} MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0} state is likely to be the isospin partner of the T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{+} state, previously observed in the J/ψK^{+} system of the B^{+}→J/ψϕK^{+} decay. When isospin symmetry for the charged and neutral T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000) states is assumed, the signal significance increases to 5.4 standard deviations.

Abstract
The ratios of branching fractions R(D^{*})≡B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and R(D^{0})≡B(B^{-}→D^{0}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B^{-}→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν_{τ}ν[over ¯]_{μ}. The measured values are R(D^{*})=0.281±0.018±0.024 and R(D^{0})=0.441±0.060±0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ=-0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model.

Abstract
The production of prompt D^{0} mesons in proton-lead collisions in both the forward and backward rapidity regions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt D^{0} mesons is determined as a function of the transverse momentum p_{T}, and the rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass frame y^{*}. In the forward rapidity region, significantly suppressed production with respect to pp collisions is measured, which provides significant constraints on models of nuclear parton distributions and hadron production down to the very low Bjorken-x region of ∼10^{-5}. In the backward rapidity region, a suppression with a significance of 2.0-3.8 standard deviations compared to parton distribution functions in a nuclear environment expectations is found in the kinematic region of p_{T}>6 GeV/c and -3.25

Measurement of the Time-Integrated CP Asymmetry in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} Decays. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:091802. Abstract
The time-integrated CP asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The D^{0} mesons are required to originate from promptly produced D^{*+}→D^{0}π^{+} decays, and the charge of the companion pion is used to determine the flavor of the charm meson at production. The time-integrated CP asymmetry is measured to be A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+})=[6.8±5.4±1.6]×10^{-4} where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The direct CP asymmetries in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays, a_{K^{-}K^{+}}^{d} and a_{π^{-}π^{+}}^{d}, are derived by combining A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+}) with the time-integrated CP asymmetry difference, ΔA_{CP}=A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+})-A_{CP}(π^{-}π^{+}), and other inputs, giving a_{K^{-}K^{+}}^{d}=(7.7±5.7)×10^{-4},a_{π^{-}π^{+}}^{d}=(23.2±6.1)×10^{-4},with a correlation coefficient corresponding to ρ=0.88. The compatibility of these results with CP symmetry is 1.4 and 3.8 standard deviations for D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays, respectively. This is the first evidence for direct CP violation in a specific D^{0} decay.

Abstract
Searches for the rare hadronic decays B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] and B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Significances of 9.3σ and 4.0σ, including statistical and systematic uncertainties, are obtained for the B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] and B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] signals, respectively. The branching fractions are measured relative to the topologically similar normalization decays B^{0}→J/ψ(→pp[over ¯])K^{*0}(→K^{+}π^{-}) and B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→pp[over ¯])ϕ(→K^{+}K^{-}). The branching fractions are measured to be B(B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯])=(2.2±0.4±0.1±0.1)×10^{-8} and B(B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯])=(2.3±1.0±0.2±0.1)×10^{-8}. In these measurements, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third one is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel.

Observation of a Resonant Structure near the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} Threshold in the B^{+}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-}K^{+} Decay. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:071901. Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{+}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-}K^{+} decay is carried out to study for the first time its intermediate resonant contributions, using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A near-threshold peaking structure, referred to as X(3960), is observed in the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} invariant-mass spectrum with significance greater than 12 standard deviations. The mass, width, and the quantum numbers of the structure are measured to be 3956±5±10 MeV, 43±13±8 MeV, and J^{PC}=0^{++}, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The properties of the new structure are consistent with recent theoretical predictions for a state composed of cc[over ¯]ss[over ¯] quarks. Evidence for an additional structure is found around 4140 MeV in the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} invariant mass, which might be caused either by a new resonance with the 0^{++} assignment or by a J/ψϕ↔D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} coupled-channel effect.

Abstract
The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using B^{+}→K^{+}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} and B^{0}→K^{*0}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton invariant-mass squared, q^{2}. The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Each of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in the given q^{2} interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The results are compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model.

Abstract
AIM To develop a nomogram to predict lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in gastric cancer by integrating multiphase computed tomography (CT) radiomics and clinical risk factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and seventy-two gastric cancer patients (121 training and 51 validation) with preoperative contrast-enhanced CT images and clinicopathological data were collected retrospectively. The clinical risk factors were selected by univariate and multivariate regression analysis. Radiomic features were extracted and selected from the arterial phase (AP), venous phase (VP), and delayed phase (DP) CT images of each patient. Clinical risk factors, radiomic features, and integration of both were used to develop the clinical model, radiomic models, and nomogram, respectively. RESULTS Radiomic features from AP (n=6), VP (n=6), DP (n=7) CT images and three selected clinical risk factors were used for model development. The nomogram showed better performance than the AP, VP, DP, and clinical models in the training and validation datasets, providing areas under the curves (AUCs) of 0.890 (95% CI: 0.820-0.940) and 0.885 (95% CI:0.765-0.957), respectively. All models indicated good calibration, and decision curve analysis proved that the net benefit of the nomogram was superior to that of the clinical and radiomic models throughout the vast majority of the threshold probabilities. CONCLUSIONS The nomogram integrating multiphase CT radiomics and clinical risk factors showed favourable performance in predicting LVI of gastric cancer, which may benefit clinical practice.

Abstract
Fowl adenoviruses (FAdVs) are distributed worldwide in poultry and incriminated as the etiological agents for several health problems in fowls, and are capable of crossing species barriers between domestic and wild fowls. An FAdV strain was, for the first time, isolated from black-necked crane in this study, and was designated as serotype 4 Fowl aviadenovirus C (abbreviated as BNC2021) according to the phylogenetic analysis of its DNA polymerase and hexon gene. The viral genomic sequence analysis demonstrated that the isolate possessed the ORF deletions that are present in FAdV4 strains circulating in poultry fowls in China and the amino acid mutations associated with viral pathogenicity in the hexon and fiber 2 proteins. A viral challenge experiment with mallard ducks demonstrated systemic viral infection and horizontal transmission. BNC2021 induced the typical clinical signs of hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) with swelling and inflammation in multiple organs and showed significant viral replication in all eight organs tested in the virus-inoculated ducks and their contactees at 6 dpi. The findings highlight the importance of surveillance of FAdVs in wild birds.

Abstract
A combined amplitude analysis is performed for the decays B^{0}→D[over ¯]^{0}D_{s}^{+}π^{-} and B^{+}→D^{-}D_{s}^{+}π^{+}, which are related by isospin symmetry. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Two new resonant states with masses of 2.908±0.011±0.020 GeV and widths of 0.136±0.023±0.013 GeV are observed, which decay to D_{s}^{+}π^{+} and D_{s}^{+}π^{-} respectively. The former state indicates the first observation of a doubly charged open-charm tetraquark state with minimal quark content [cs[over ¯]ud[over ¯]], and the latter state is a neutral tetraquark composed of [cs[over ¯]u[over ¯]d] quarks. Both states are found to have spin-parity of 0^{+}, and their resonant parameters are consistent with each other, which suggests that they belong to an isospin triplet.

Abstract
A search for the very rare D^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The search is optimized for D^{0} mesons from D^{*+}→D^{0}π^{+} decays but is also sensitive to D^{0} mesons from other sources. No evidence for an excess of events over the expected background is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay is set at B(D^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})<3.1×10^{-9} at a 90% C.L. This represents the world's most stringent limit, constraining models of physics beyond the standard model.

Abstract
An amplitude analysis of B^{-}→J/ψΛp[over ¯] decays is performed using 4400 signal candidates selected on a data sample of pp collisions recorded at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. A narrow resonance in the J/ψΛ system, consistent with a pentaquark candidate with strangeness, is observed with high significance. The mass and the width of this new state are measured to be 4338.2±0.7±0.4 MeV and 7.0±1.2±1.3 MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The spin is determined to be 1/2 and negative parity is preferred. Because of the small Q-value of the reaction, the most precise single measurement of the B^{-} mass to date, 5279.44±0.05±0.07 MeV, is obtained.

Effects of different chemical agents on changes in sediment phosphorus composition and the response of sediment microbial community. JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 2023; 342:118321. [PMID: 37302172 DOI: 10.1016/j.jenvman.2023.118321] [Citation(s) in RCA: 3] [Impact Index Per Article: 3.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/08/2023] [Revised: 05/17/2023] [Accepted: 06/03/2023] [Indexed: 06/13/2023]
Abstract
Controlling the release of sediment phosphorus (P) using chemical agents is a promising method for controlling internal P in eutrophic lakes. However, mineral P formation and changes in the organic P composition after sediment amendment with P-inactivation agents remain poorly understood. Furthermore, little is known about the changes in the sediment microbial community composition after remediation. Here, various ratios of poly aluminum chloride (PAC) and lanthanum-modified bentonite (LMB) were added to nutrient-rich sediments and incubated. Sequential P extraction, solution/solid-state 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and microbial analyses were periodically performed on the inactivated sediments. The results indicate that PAC and LMB effectively reduced sediment iron-bound P and organic P, respectively, markedly increasing the content of aluminum- and calcium-bound P in the sediment, respectively. Solid-state 31P NMR results confirmed the formation of rhabdophane (LaPO4. nH2O) in the LMB-amended sediment. Solution 31P NMR results showed that PAC preferentially reduced the organic P fractions of pyrophosphate, whereas LMB efficiently reduced the organic P fractions of orthophosphate, monoesters, and diesters in the sediment. Compared with the control sediment, PAC addition can cause short-term negative effects on sediment microbes at high doses, whereas LMB addition can increase bacterial diversity or richness in the sediment. These results provide a deeper understanding of the differences between PAC and LMB in internal sediment P control.

Controlling internal nitrogen and phosphorus loading using Ca-poor soil capping in shallow eutrophic lakes: Long-term effects and mechanisms. WATER RESEARCH 2023; 233:119797. Abstract
Clean soil is a potential capping material for controlling internal nutrient loading and helping the recovery of macrophytes in eutrophic lakes, but the long-term effects and underlying mechanisms of clean soil capping under in-situ conditions remain poorly understood. In this study, a three-year field capping enclosure experiment combining intact sediment core incubation, in-situ porewater sampling, isotherm adsorption experiments and analysis of sediment nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fractions was conducted to assess the long-term performance of clean soil capping on internal loading in Lake Taihu. Our results indicate that clean soil has excellent P adsorption and retention capacity as an ecologically safe capping material and can effectively mitigate NH4+-N and SRP (soluble reactive P) fluxes at the sediment-water interface (SWI) and porewater SRP concentration for one year after capping. The mean NH4+-N and SRP fluxes of capping sediment were 34.86 mg m-2 h-1 and -1.58 mg m-2 h-1, compared 82.99 mg m-2 h-1 and 6.29 mg m-2 h-1 for control sediment. Clean soil controls internal NH4+-N release through cation (mainly Al3+) exchange mechanisms, while for SRP, clean soil can not only react with SRP due to its high Al and Fe content, but also stimulate the migration of active Ca2+ to the capping layer, thus precipitating as Ca-bound P (Ca-P). Clean soil capping also contributed to the restoration of macrophytes during the growing season. However, the effect of controlling internal nutrient loading only lasted for one year under in-situ conditions, after which the sediment properties returned to pre-capping conditions. Our results highlight that clean Ca-poor soil is a promising capping material and further research is needed to extend the longevity of this geoengineering technology.

Abstract
In this study, a laboratory sediment resuspension simulation system (RSS) was used to investigate the effect of wind-induced (5.3 and 8.7 m/s) repeated sediment resuspension on internal phosphorus (P) in sediment treated by dredging and La-modified clay (LMC) based inactivation in a shallow lake. The results indicated that the dredged sediment had a better capability to resist repeated wind disturbance than the LMC-inactivated sediment. The concentration of suspended solids (SS) in the inactivated treatment (70.7 mg/L) was 1.7 times that in the dredged treatment (41.7 mg/L) under moderate wind disturbance, and was similar for the two treatments under strong wind disturbance. Nevertheless, dredging performed better than inactivation in reducing 44 % total phosphorus (TP) in overlying water (43 % reduction by inactivation) and 31 % mobile P in sediment (27 % reduction by inactivation) under moderate wind disturbance (p < 0.01) compared with control treatment. Inactivation performed better in reducing 57 % P in porewater (52 % reduction by dredging) and 81 % P flux (13 % reduction by dredging) (p < 0.01) compared with control treatment. Surprisingly, under strong wind disturbance, LMC inactivation could still reduce 18 % P in porewater and 75 % P flux (p < 0.01), whereas dredging increased 25 % P in porewater and 13 % P flux compared with control treatment (p < 0.01). LMC inactivation can increase the sediment P adsorption capacity and decrease the equilibrium P concentration (EPC0) when compared with control treatment. The contrasting control effects of the two methods were probably due to the different P buffer mechanisms for the two treated sediment. The wind disturbance-induced sediment P release was controlled by the inactivation of Fe and co-inactivation of Fe and La at the surface of dredged and LMC-inactivated sediments, respectively. The results of this study indicated inactivation can be a better method to control sediment internal P loading with repeated strong wind disturbances in eutrophic lakes.

Abstract
Background Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) are acid suppressant drugs indicated in highly prevalent conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcer disease. A recent observational study reported an increased risk of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with the use of PPIs. However, this association may have been driven by certain methodological shortcomings, such as failure to properly account for protopathic bias, a conclusion-altering bias. Purpose To determine whether the use of PPIs compared with the use of H2RAs is associated with an increased risk of IBD. Method Using the longitudinal primary care records from the United Kingdom Clinical Practice Research Datalink database, we identified 1,498,416 initiators of PPIs and 322,474 initiators of H2RAs from January 1, 1990, through December 31, 2018, with follow-up until December 31, 2019. Standardized morbidity ratio weighted Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate marginal hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Patients were analyzed according to the timing of the IBD events after treatment initiation (early versus late). In the early-event analysis, IBD events were assessed within the first two years of treatment initiation, an analysis subject to potential protopathic bias. In the late-event analysis, all exposures were lagged by two years to account for latency and minimize protopathic bias. Result(s) In the early-event analysis, the use of PPIs was associated with an increased risk of IBD within the first two years of treatment initiation, compared with H2RAs (HR: 1.39, 95% CI: 1.14-1.69). In contrast, the use of PPIs was not associated with an increased risk of IBD in the late-event analysis (HR: 1.05, 95% CI: 0.90 to 1.22). The results remained consistent in several sensitivity analyses. Image ![]()
Conclusion(s) Compared with H2RAs, PPIs were not associated with an increased risk of IBD, after accounting for protopathic bias. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the association between depressive symptoms and the risks of rapid decline in renal function and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in middle-aged and elderly with normal kidney function. METHODS The residents aged 40- 75 years with eGFR≥60 mL·min-1·1.73 m-2 without proteinuria in Lanzhou region, who participated in the "REACTION" study carried out in 2011, were selected and followed up in 2014. A total of 4961 individuals with complete and qualified data from the two surveys were included in the subsequent analysis. Based on PHQ-9 questionnaire scores, the baseline population was divided into two groups with and without depressive symptoms. Cox proportional hazard analysis was used to compare the incidences of rapid renal function decline and CKD between the two groups and study the association of depressive symptoms with the risk of these renal conditions. RESULTS PHQ-9 questionnaire scores were not found to correlate with baseline SCr, ALB, UACR or eGFR levels among the participarts (P>0.05). After a mean follow-up time of 3.4±0.6 years, 33.9% of the participants with depressive symptoms at baseline experienced a rapid decline in renal function and 3.6% progressed to CKD. During the follow-up, the incidence of rapid decline in renal function and the risk of developing CKD were not found to correlate with depressive symptoms in these participants (P>0.05) regardless of the type of the depressive syndromes. CONCLUSION Depressive symptoms are not associated with the risks of rapid renal function decline or progression to CKD in middle-aged and elderly with normal kidney function.

Abstract
1. In a previous high-throughput sequencing study, a novel circular RNA (circRNA) generated from a SUN domain containing ossification factor (SUCO) gene transcript (circSUCO) was differentially expressed during the embryonic muscle development. This study aimed to further explore the effect of circSUCO on chicken skeletal muscle development.2. The experiment analysed the expression patterns of circSUCO in Tianfu broilers and clarified its function in the chicken skeletal muscle satellite cells (SMSC) after circSUCO knockdown. The qPCR results showed circSUCO was highly expressed in skeletal muscle and has different expression levels during various development periods.3. Mechanistically, a series of in vitro experiments showed that circSUCO interference suppressed proliferation and differentiation of SMSC. In addition, it was observed that circSUCO competitively binds with microRNAs such as miR-15a, miR-15b-5p, and miR-15c-5p according to the dual-luciferase assay and qPCR.4. Correlation was positive between the circSUCO expression level and the ratio of the breast muscle. The results revealed that circSUCO could play a positive role in proliferation and differentiation of SMSC via sponging miR-15a, miR-15b-5p, and miR-15c-5p, hence, may contribute to skeletal muscle development in chicken.

Abstract
The seasonal migration of wild aquatic birds plays a critical role in the maintenance, transmission, and incursion of the avian influenza virus (AIV). AIV surveillance was performed during 2020-2021 in two national nature reserves with abundant wild bird resources in Yunnan, China. Four H5N8 AIVs isolates from the common crane were identified by next-generation sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that all eight gene segments of these H5N8 AIVs belonged to clade 2.3.4.4b high-pathogenic AIV (HPAIV) and shared high nucleotide sequence similarity with the strains isolated in Hubei, China, and Siberia, Russia, in 2020-2021. The H5N8 HPAIVs from common cranes were characterized by both human and avian dual-receptor specificity in the hemagglutinin (HA) protein. Moreover, possessing the substitutions contributes to overcoming transmission barriers of mammalian hosts in polymerase basic 2 (PB2), polymerase basic protein 1 (PB1), and polymerase acid (PA), and exhibiting the long stalk in the neck region of the neuraminidase (NA) protein contributes to adaptation in wild birds. Monitoring AIVs in migratory birds, at stopover sites and in their primary habitats, i.e., breeding or wintering grounds, could provide insight into potential zoonosis caused by AIVs.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of complete transabdominal laparoscopic nephroureterectomy in treating primary upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) for post kidney transplantation patients. Methods: The clinical data of patients with primary renal pelvis and ureter tumors after kidney transplantation in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital from May 2016 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Seventeen patients (including 9 patients in ipsilateral transplanted kidney group and 8 patients in contralateral transplanted kidney group) underwent traditional retroperitoneoscopic nephroureterectomy (TRNU), and 24 patients (including 14 patients in ipsilateral transplanted kidney group and 10 patients in contralateral transplanted kidney group) underwent complete transperitoneal laparoscopic nephroureterectomy (CTNU). The perioperative clinical indicators of all patients were recorded and analyzed, and the surgical indicators of two techniques were compared. Results: Forty-one patients [16 males and 25 females, with a median age of 57 (53, 70) years old] were finally included. The operation time in the contralateral transplanted kidney group [(95±44) min] from CTNU was significantly decreased compared with that in the ipsilateral group from CTNU [(159±49) min] and the contralateral [(196±20) min] or ipsilateral [(205±21) min] groups from TRNU (all P<0.01). The blood loss volume [(84±39) ml vs (106±44) ml vs (109±20) ml vs (112±21) ml, P=0.271] and postoperative hospital stay [(10.6±2.1) d vs (11.8±1.7) d vs (10.3±1.5) d vs (11.4±1.5) d, P=0.171] were not statistically different among these four groups. During the median follow-up of 24 months, 13 patients developed contralateral recurrence or metastasis, 8 patients developed intravesical recurrence, and 5 patients died of UTUC. Conclusions: Single-position complete transabdominal laparoscopic nephroureterectomy for the treatment of primary renal ureteral tumors after kidney transplantation has the advantage of a short operation time, without increasing intraoperative blood loss or perioperative complications. It is suitable for the treatment of urothelial carcinoma after kidney transplantation, especially for the contralateral side of the transplanted kidney.

Abstract
Lake Taihu suffers from severe algal blooms every year, which is attributed primarily to the release of sediment phosphorus (P), namely the internal P loading. However, the overall internal P loading and the P hotspots in sediment have not been fully studied. This paper presents several methods, including sequential P extraction, the use of diffusive gradient in thin film (DGT), and intact core incubation to give a detailed investigation of sediment internal P loading as well as its roles in algal dominated zones (ADZs) and grass dominated zones (GDZs) in Lake Taihu. Sediment microbial composition was also analyzed to investigate its relationship with P fractions. The results indicate that the total P and the mobile P fraction in the ADZ sediments are generally higher than those of the GDZ sediments. The percentage of sediment mobile P to TP is similar to the mobile P in their distributions. In contrast, calcium bound P accounts for most of the TP in GDZ, while mobile P contributes the most to TP in ADZ. Overall, sediment can release 256 tons of TP and 217 tons of soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) over a period of six months in the warmer seasons. Similarly, a high concentration of DGT-measured P was observed in ADZs that are recognized as P hotspots in Lake Taihu. Sediments in ADZ and GDZ was dominated by the bacteria Firmicutes and Proteobacteria, respectively and which were closely related with mobile P and calcium bound P in sediment, respectively. GZD seems to be able to retain more P in sediments, thereby reducing its contribution to of internal P loading. These results indicate that the difference in sediment composition between ADZ and GDZ affects their roles in sediment internal P loading, therefore, different management strategies should be used to combat sediment internal P loads in the two zones.
