[PMID: 38342715 DOI: 10.1016/j.crad.2024.01.018] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/09/2023] [Revised: 01/04/2024] [Accepted: 01/12/2024] [Indexed: 02/13/2024]
Abstract
AIM To develop a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics model for the preoperative identification of mesenchymal transition (MT) subtype in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and eighty-nine patients with histopathologically confirmed HGSOC were enrolled retrospectively. Among the included patients, 55 patients were determined as the MT subtype and the remaining 134 were non-MT subtype. After extracting a total of 204 features from T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and contrast-enhanced (CE)-T1WI images, the Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman correlation test, and Boruta algorithm were adopted to select the optimal feature set. Three classifiers, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and random forest (RF), were trained to develop radiomics models. The performance of established models was evaluated from three aspects: discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. RESULTS Seven radiomics features relevant to MT subtypes were selected to build the radiomics models. The model based on the RF algorithm showed the best performance in predicting MT subtype, with areas under the curves (AUCs) of 0.866 (95 % confidence interval [CI]: 0.797-0.936) and 0.852 (95 % CI: 0.736-0.967) in the training and testing cohorts, respectively. The calibration curves, supported with Brier scores, indicated very good consistency between observation and prediction. Decision curve analysis (DCA) showed that the RF-based model could provide more net benefit, which suggested favorable utility in clinical application. CONCLUSION The RF-based radiomics model provided accurate identification of MT from the non-MT subtype and may help facilitate personalised management of HGSOC.

Abstract
Recently a dark matter-electron (DM-electron) paradigm has drawn much attention. Models beyond the standard halo model describing DM accelerated by high energy celestial bodies are under intense examination as well. In this Letter, a velocity components analysis (VCA) method dedicated to swift analysis of accelerated DM-electron interactions via semiconductor detectors is proposed and the first HPGe detector-based accelerated DM-electron analysis is realized. Utilizing the method, the first germanium based constraint on sub-GeV solar reflected DM-electron interaction is presented with the 205.4 kg·day dataset from the CDEX-10 experiment. In the heavy mediator scenario, our result excels in the mass range of 5-15 keV/c^{2}, achieving a 3 orders of magnitude improvement comparing with previous semiconductor experiments. In the light mediator scenario, the strongest laboratory constraint for DM lighter than 0.1 MeV/c^{2} is presented. The result proves the feasibility and demonstrates the vast potential of the VCA technique in future accelerated DM-electron analyses with semiconductor detectors.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the safety and therapeutic effect of split liver transplantation (SLT) in clinical application. Methods: This is a retrospective case-series study. The clinical data of 203 consecutive SLT, 79 living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and 1 298 whole liver transplantation (WLT) performed at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from July 2014 to July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Two hundred and three SLT liver grafts were obtained from 109 donors. One hundred and twenty-seven grafts were generated by in vitro splitting and 76 grafts were generated by in vivo splitting. There were 90 adult recipients and 113 pediatric recipients. According to time, SLT patients were divided into two groups: the early SLT group (40 cases, from July 2014 to December 2017) and the mature SLT technology group (163 cases, from January 2018 to July 2023). The survival of each group was analyzed and the main factors affecting the survival rate of SLT were analyzed. The Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test were used for survival analysis. Results: The cumulative survival rates at 1-, 3-, and 5-year were 74.58%, 71.47%, and 71.47% in the early SLT group, and 88.03%, 87.23%, and 87.23% in the mature SLT group, respectively. Survival rates in the mature SLT group were significantly higher than those in the early SLT group (χ2=5.560,P=0.018). The cumulative survival rates at 1-, 3- and 5-year were 93.41%, 93.41%, 89.95% in the LDLT group and 87.38%, 81.98%, 77.04% in the WLT group, respectively. There was no significant difference among the mature SLT group, the LDLT group and the WLT group (χ2=4.016, P=0.134). Abdominal hemorrhage, infection, primary liver graft nonfunction, and portal vein thrombosis were the main causes of early postoperative death. Conclusion: SLT can achieve results comparable to those of WLT and LDLT in mature technology liver transplant centers, but it needs to go through a certain time learning curve.

Visually or auditorily induced seizures involve the activation of nonhippocampal brain areas and hippocampal removal does not alleviate seizures in a mouse model of temporal lobe epilepsy. Epilepsia 2024; 65:218-237. [PMID: 38032046 DOI: 10.1111/epi.17816] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/17/2022] [Revised: 10/28/2023] [Accepted: 10/31/2023] [Indexed: 12/01/2023]
Abstract
OBJECTIVE Several studies have attributed epileptic activities in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) to the hippocampus; however, the participation of nonhippocampal neuronal networks in the development of TLE is often neglected. Here, we sought to understand how these nonhippocampal networks are involved in the pathology that is associated with TLE disease. METHODS A kainic acid (KA) model of temporal lobe epilepsy was induced by injecting KA into dorsal hippocampus of C57BL/6J mice. Network activation after spontaneous seizure was assessed using c-Fos expression. Protocols to induce seizure using visual or auditory stimulation were developed, and seizure onset zone (SOZ) and frequency of epileptic spikes were evaluated using electrophysiology. The hippocampus was removed to assess seizure recurrence in the absence of hippocampus. RESULTS Our results showed that cortical and hippocampal epileptic networks are activated during spontaneous seizures. Perturbation of these networks using visual or auditory stimulation readily precipitates seizures in TLE mice; the frequency of the light-induced or noise-induced seizures depends on the induction modality adopted during the induction period. Localization of SOZ revealed the existence of cortical and hippocampal SOZ in light-induced and noise-induced seizures, and the development of local and remote epileptic spikes in TLE occurs during the early stage of the disease. Importantly, we further discovered that removal of the hippocampi does not stop seizure activities in TLE mice, revealing that seizures in TLE mice can occur independent of the hippocampus. SIGNIFICANCE This study has shown that the network pathology that evolves in TLE is not localized to the hippocampus; rather, remote brain areas are also recruited. The occurrence of light-induced or noise-induced seizures and epileptic discharges in epileptic mice is a consequence of the activation of nonhippocampal brain areas. This work therefore demonstrates the fundamental role of nonhippocampal epileptic networks in generating epileptic activities with or without the hippocampus in TLE disease.

Abstract
The leakage neutron spectra from three different sizes of Lead samples were measured by a TOF technique at 60° and 120°. The essential characteristic properties of the experimental measurement spectra can be reproduced well by MCNP code simulations with the ENDF/B-VIII.0, CENDL-3.2, JENDL-5.0, JEFF-3.3 and TENDL-2021 evaluated nuclear data libraries. The calculated results of JENDL-5.0 and JEFF-3.3 libraries agree better with the experimental data in the whole energy range. The results from ENDF/B-VIII.0 and CENDL-3.2 are overestimated in the 4-9 MeV range at 60° and in the 4-12.5 MeV range at 120°. The differences of the leakage neutron spectra by MCNP simulations using five evaluated nuclear data libraries mainly originate from the differences of the spectrum distributions of neutron reaction channels in these libraries. And the secondary neutron energy distribution and angular distribution from the five libraries have been present to explain it.

Abstract
The femoropopliteal artery (FPA) is a long, flexible vessel that travels down the anteromedial compartment of the thigh as the femoral artery and then behind the kneecap as the popliteal artery. This artery undergoes various degrees of flexion, extension, and torsion during normal walking movements. The FPA is also the most susceptible peripheral artery to atherosclerosis and is where peripheral artery disease manifests in 80% of cases. The connection between peripheral artery location, its mechanical flexion, and its physiological or pathological biochemistry has been investigated for decades; however, histochemical methods remain poorly leveraged in their ability to spatially correlate normal or abnormal extracellular matrix and cells with regions of mechanical flexion. This study generates new histological image processing pipelines to quantitate tissue composition across high-resolution FPA regions-of-interest or low-resolution whole-section cross-sections in relation to their anatomical locations and flexions during normal movement. Comparing healthy ovine femoral, popliteal, and cranial-tibial artery sections as a pilot, substantial arterial contortion was observed in the distal popliteal and cranial tibial regions of the FPA which correlated with increased vascular smooth muscle cells and decreased elastin content. These methods aim to aid in the quantitative characterization of the spatial distribution of extracellular matrix and cells in large heterogeneous tissue sections such as the FPA. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: Large-format histology preserves artery architecture. Elastin and smooth muscle content is correlated with distance from heart and contortion during flexion. Cell and protein analyses are sensitive to sectioning plane and image magnification.

Abstract
AIM To assess the value of deep-learning reconstruction (DLR) at submillisievert computed tomography (CT) for the evaluation of the female pelvis, with standard dose (SD) hybrid iterative reconstruction (IR) images as reference. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present study enrolled 50 female patients consecutively who underwent contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CT for clinically indicated reasons. Submillisievert pelvic images were acquired using a noise index of 15 for low-dose (LD) scans, which were reconstructed with DLR (body and body sharp), hybrid-IR, and model-based IR (MBIR). Additionally, SD scans were reconstructed with a noise index of 7.5 using hybrid-IR. Radiation dose, quantitative image quality, overall image quality, image appearance using a five-point Likert scale (1-5: worst to best), and lesion evaluation in both SD and LD images were analysed and compared. RESULTS The submillisievert pelvic CT examinations showed a 61.09 ± 4.13% reduction in the CT dose index volume compared to SD examinations. Among the LD images, DLR (body sharp) had the highest quantitative quality, followed by DLR (body), MBIR, and hybrid-IR. LD DLR (body) had overall image quality comparable to the reference (p=0.084) and favourable image appearance (p=0.209). In total, 40 pelvic lesions were detected in both SD and LD images. LD DLR (body and body sharp) exhibited similar diagnostic confidence (p=0.317 and 0.096) compared with SD hybrid-IR. CONCLUSION DLR algorithms, providing comparable image quality and diagnostic confidence, are feasible in submillisievert abdominopelvic CT. The DLR (body) algorithm with favourable image appearance is recommended in clinical settings.

Abstract
Diet is an important exposure route of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), but many unfiltered potential EDCs remain in food. The in silico prediction of EDCs is a popular method for preliminary screening. Potential EDCs in food were screened using Endocrine Disruptome, an open-source platform for inverse docking, to predict the binding probabilities of 587 food chemical contaminants with 18 human nuclear hormone receptor (NHR) conformations. In total, 25 contaminants were bound to multiple NHRs such as oestrogen receptor α/β and androgen receptor. These 25 compounds mainly include pesticides and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The prediction results were validated with the in vitro data. The structural features and the crucial amino acid residues of the four NHRs were also validated based on previous literature. The findings indicate that the screening has good prediction efficiency. In addition, the epidemic evidence about endocrine interference of PFASs in food on children was further validated through this screening. This study provides preliminary screening results for EDCs in food and a priority list for in vitro and in vivo research.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) This prospective study examined whether 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT can predict the development and severity of radiation esophagitis (RE) in patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LA-ESCC) treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy. MATERIALS/METHODS From June 2021 to March 2022, images were prospectively collected from LA-ESCC patients who underwent 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT examinations before and during radiotherapy. The development of RE was evaluated weekly according to Radiation Therapy Oncology Group criterion. The target-to-background ratio in blood (TBRblood) was analyzed at each time point and correlated with the onset and severity of RE. Factors that predicted RE were identified by multivariate logistic analyses. RESULTS Thirty patients (median age, 66.5 years [interquartile range: 56¨C71 years]; 22 men) were evaluated. Significantly higher TBRblood (during radiotherapy, mean: 3.06 vs 7.11, P = 0.003) and change in TBRblood compared with pre-RT (ΔTBRblood, mean: 0.67 vs 4.81, P = 0.002) were observed in patients with RE than patients without RE. Those with grade 3 RE had a significantly higher TBRblood (during radiotherapy, mean: 4.55 vs 9.66, P = 0.003) and ΔTBRblood (mean: 2.16 vs 7.50, P = 0.003) compared with those with RE CONCLUSION The ΔTBRblood on 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT may be effective at identifying patients at risk for the development of RE, especially grade 3 RE.

Abstract
AIM To establish and validate radiomic models for response prediction to induction chemotherapy (IC) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) using the radiomic features from pretreatment MRI. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective analysis included 184 consecutive NPC patients, 132 in the primary cohort and 52 in the validation cohort. Radiomic features were derived from contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging (CE-T1) and T2-weighted imaging (T2-WI) for each subject. The radiomic features were then selected and combined with clinical characteristics to build radiomic models. The potential of the radiomic models was evaluated based on its discrimination and calibration. To measure the performance of these radiomic models in predicting the treatment response to IC in NPC, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), and sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were used. RESULTS Four radiomic models were constructed in the present study including the radiomic signature of CE-T1, T2-WI, CE-T1 + T2-WI, and the radiomic nomogram of CE-T1. The radiomic signature of CE-T1 + T2-WI performed well in distinguishing response and non-response to IC in patients with NPC, which yielded an AUC of 0.940 (95% CI, 0.885-0.974), sensitivity of 83.1%, specificity of 91.8%, and accuracy of 87.1% in the primary cohort, and AUC of 0.952 (95% CI, 0.855-0.992), sensitivity of 74.2%, specificity of 95.2%, and accuracy of 82.7% in the validation cohort. CONCLUSION MRI-based radiomic models could be helpful for personalised risk stratification and treatment in NPC patients receiving IC.

Abstract
Reactor neutrino experiments play a crucial role in advancing our knowledge of neutrinos. In this Letter, the evolution of the flux and spectrum as a function of the reactor isotopic content is reported in terms of the inverse-beta-decay yield at Daya Bay with 1958 days of data and improved systematic uncertainties. These measurements are compared with two signature model predictions: the Huber-Mueller model based on the conversion method and the SM2018 model based on the summation method. The measured average flux and spectrum, as well as the flux evolution with the ^{239}Pu isotopic fraction, are inconsistent with the predictions of the Huber-Mueller model. In contrast, the SM2018 model is shown to agree with the average flux and its evolution but fails to describe the energy spectrum. Altering the predicted inverse-beta-decay spectrum from ^{239}Pu fission does not improve the agreement with the measurement for either model. The models can be brought into better agreement with the measurements if either the predicted spectrum due to ^{235}U fission is changed or the predicted ^{235}U, ^{238}U, ^{239}Pu, and ^{241}Pu spectra are changed in equal measure.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the anatomic zone localization based on biparametric magnetic resonance imaging (bpMRI) for the prediction of the risk degree in patients with prostate cancer. Methods: A total of 92 patients with prostate cancer confirmed by radical surgery in First Affiliated Hospital, Air Force Medical University, from January 2017 to December 2021 were collected. All patients underwent bpMRI (non-enhanced scan and DWI). According to ISUP grade, those patients were divided into low-risk group [≤grade 2, n=26, aged 71 (64.0, 5.2) years] and high-risk group[≥grade 3, n=66, aged 70.5 (63.0, 74.0) years]. The interobserver consistency test for ADC values was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The differences in total prostate specific antigen (tPSA) between the two groups were compared and the χ2 test was used to compare the differences in the risk of prostate cancer in the transitional and peripheral zone. Independent correlation factors for prostate cancer risk were analyzed by logistic regression using high and low risk of prostate cancer as dependent variables, including factors such as anatomical zone, tPSA, apparent diffusion coefficient mean (ADCmean), apparent diffusion coefficient minimum (ADCmin) and age. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to assess the efficacy of the combined models of anatomical zone, tPSA, and anatomical partitioning+tPSA for diagnosing prostate cancer risk. Results: The ICC values of the ADCmean and ADCmin between the observers were 0.906 and 0.885, respectively, with good agreement. The tPSA in the low-risk group was lower than that in the high-risk group [19.64 (10.29, 35.18) ng/ml vs 72.42 (24.79, 187.98) ng/ml; P<0.001]; the risk of prostate cancer in the peripheral zone was higher than that in the transitional zone, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Multifactorial regression showed that anatomical zones (OR=0.120, 95%CI:0.029-0.501, P=0.004) and tPSA (OR=1.059, 95%CI:1.022-1.099, P=0.002) were risk factors for prostate cancer risk. The diagnostic efficacy of the combined model (AUC=0.895, 95%CI: 0.831-0.958) was better than the predictive efficacy of the single model for both anatomical partitioning (AUC=0.717, 95%CI:0.597-0.837) and tPSA (AUC=0.801, 95%CI: 0.714-0.887) (Z=3.91, 2.47; all P<0.05). Conclusions: The malignant degree of prostate cancer in peripheral zone was higher than that in transitional zone. Combination of anatomic zone located by bpMRI and tPSA can be used to predict the risk of prostate cancer before surgery, expected to provide support for patients to develop personalized treatment strategies.

Abstract
We present a new determination of the smallest neutrino mixing angle θ_{13} and the mass-squared difference Δm_{32}^{2} using a final sample of 5.55×10^{6} inverse beta-decay (IBD) candidates with the final-state neutron captured on gadolinium. This sample is selected from the complete dataset obtained by the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment in 3158 days of operation. Compared to the previous Daya Bay results, selection of IBD candidates has been optimized, energy calibration refined, and treatment of backgrounds further improved. The resulting oscillation parameters are sin^{2}2θ_{13}=0.0851±0.0024, Δm_{32}^{2}=(2.466±0.060)×10^{-3} eV^{2} for the normal mass ordering or Δm_{32}^{2}=-(2.571±0.060)×10^{-3} eV^{2} for the inverted mass ordering.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a common sleep respiratory disorder characterized by upper respiratory collapse during sleep, with a high prevalence and potentially fatal complications. Currently, maxillary transverse deficiency are considered to be an important pathogenic factor of OSAHS. For patients with poor compliance with positive airway pressure therapy, rapid maxillary expansion can increase the volume and ventilation of the upper respiratory tract, which is an alternative treatment. This paper reviewed the current research on surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion, miniscrew assisted rapid palatal expansion, and distraction osteogenesis maxillary expansion in the treatment of adult OSAHS. By comparing the indications, contraindications, complications, efficacy and long-term stability of the three treatment methods, it provided reference for treatment of patients with OSAHS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) has been reported to be a major cause of low back pain (LBP). Interleukin (IL)-37 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine of the interleukin-1 family, which exerts salutary physiological effects. In this study, we assessed the protective effect of IL-37 on IDD progression and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS Immunofluorescence (IF) was conducted to measure IL-37 expression in nucleus pulposus tissues. CCK-8 assay and Edu staining were used to examine the vitality of IL-37-treated nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs). Western blot, qPCR, ELISA as well as immunohistochemistry were used to assess senescence associated secreted phenotype (SASP) factors expression; and NF-κB pathway was evaluated by western blot and IF; while IL-1R8 knock-down by siRNAs was performed to ascertain its significance in the senescence phenotype modulated by IL-37. The therapeutic effect of IL-37 on IDD were evaluated in puncture-induced rat model using X-ray, Hematoxylin-Eosin, Safranin O-Fast Green (SO), and alcian blue staining. RESULTS We found IL-37 expression decreased in the IDD process. In vitro, IL-37 suppressed SASP factors level and senescence phenotype in IL-1β treated NPCs. In vivo, IL-37 alleviated the IDD progression in the puncture-induced rat model. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that IL-37 inhibited IDD progression by downregulating NF-κB pathway activation in NPCs by activating IL-1R8. CONCLUSION The present study suggests that IL-37 delays the IDD development through the IL-1R8/NF-κB pathway, which suggests IL-37 as a promising novel target for IDD therapy.

Abstract
We present improved germanium-based constraints on sub-GeV dark matter via dark matter-electron (χ-e) scattering using the 205.4 kg·day dataset from the CDEX-10 experiment. Using a novel calculation technique, we attain predicted χ-e scattering spectra observable in high-purity germanium detectors. In the heavy mediator scenario, our results achieve 3 orders of magnitude of improvement for m_{χ} larger than 80 MeV/c^{2} compared to previous germanium-based χ-e results. We also present the most stringent χ-e cross-section limit to date among experiments using solid-state detectors for m_{χ} larger than 90 MeV/c^{2} with heavy mediators and m_{χ} larger than 100 MeV/c^{2} with electric dipole coupling. The result proves the feasibility and demonstrates the vast potential of a new χ-e detection method with high-purity germanium detectors in ultralow radioactive background.

Exotic Dark Matter Search with the CDEX-10 Experiment at China's Jinping Underground Laboratory. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 129:221802. Abstract
A search for exotic dark matter (DM) in the sub-GeV mass range has been conducted using 205 kg day data taken from a p-type point contact germanium detector of the CDEX-10 experiment at China's Jinping underground laboratory. New low-mass dark matter searching channels, neutral current fermionic DM absorption (χ+A→ν+A) and DM-nucleus 3→2 scattering (χ+χ+A→ϕ+A), have been analyzed with an energy threshold of 160 eVee. No significant signal was found; thus new limits on the DM-nucleon interaction cross section are set for both models at the sub-GeV DM mass region. A cross section limit for the fermionic DM absorption is set to be 2.5×10^{-46} cm^{2} (90% C.L.) at DM mass of 10 MeV/c^{2}. For the DM-nucleus 3→2 scattering scenario, limits are extended to DM mass of 5 and 14 MeV/c^{2} for the massless dark photon and bound DM final state, respectively.

Abstract
Background Traditional Chinese medicine development policies (TCMDPs) are essential in improving the sustainable development of TCM undertakings, of which transmissions of policy information are closely related to the actual policy effectiveness. However, the inherent components of TCMDPs had not been explored from the structural dimension of policy design. Methods Based on the policy modeling consistency (PMC) index model, we constructed a comprehensive evaluation system, including ten first-level and 40 second-level indicators, and focused on the TCMDPs released by the Chinese central government in the past 42 years (1980-2022) to conduct multi-dimensional inspections to TCMDPs by analyzing the overall policy quality, individual scoring performance, and indicators distribution characteristics. Results This study pointed out that four policies were rated as "perfect," 35 were rated as "superb," 50 were rated as "excellent," 28 were rated as "good," and four were rated as "acceptable," with total mean values of the PMC index being 7.530 ± 0.835. Although most TCMDPs had appropriate policy structure and consistency, the potential weaknesses in the design of TCMDPs also needed our attention through careful checks on the outlier policy samples. Besides, the existing TCMDPs had room for improvement regarding policy areas, guarantees and incentives, objects included, and issuing agencies. Conclusions We emphasized that the policy evaluation method used in this current study, the PMC index model, is scarce in the TCMDPs. These findings are helpful for fully understanding the strengths and weaknesses of TCMDPs and provide theoretical references for further studies optimizing TCMDPs.

Abstract
Natural killer (NK) cells are a major subset of innate immune cells that are essential for host defense against pathogens and cancer. Two main classes of inhibitory NK receptors (NKR), KIR and CD94/NKG2A, play a key role in suppressing NK activity upon engagement with tumor cells or virus-infected cells, limiting their antitumor and antiviral activities. Here, we find that single-chain NKR antagonists linked to a VHH that binds the cell surface phosphatase CD45 potentiate NK and T activities to a greater extent than NKR blocking antibodies alone in vitro. We also uncovered crosstalk between NKG2A and Ly49 that collectively inhibit NK cell activation, such that CD45-NKG2A and CD45-Ly49 bispecific molecules show synergistic effects in their ability to enhance NK cell activation. The basis of the activity enhancement by CD45 ligation may reflect greater antagonism of inhibitory signaling from engagement of MHC I on target cells, combined with other mechanisms, including avidity effects, tonic signaling, antagonism of weak inhibition from engagement of MHC I on non-target cells, and possible CD45 segregation within the NK cell-target cell synapse. These results uncover a strategy for enhancing the activity of NK and T cells that may improve cancer immunotherapies.

Abstract
Abstract
Importance
Total arterial revascularization (TAR), the complete avoidance of saphenous vein grafting (SVG) in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), is advocated based on the superior conduit durability and resistance against atherosclerosis. However, the low adoption rate of TAR indicates a high level of controversy.
Objective
To compare long-term survival between TAR and conventional CABG involving SVG.
Data sources
A comprehensive literature search was conducted through digital databases including MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from the inception to May 2021.
Study selection
The inclusion criteria were randomized clinical trials, or propensity-score balanced or multivariable-adjusted observational studies with a sample size of at least 100 patients in each arm, isolated CABG, comparing TAR (SVG=0) vs. non-TAR (SVG≥1), and inclusion of all-cause mortality.
Data extraction and synthesis
Two reviewers performed independent extraction following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Pooled hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated with random-effect and fixed-effect models using generic inverse variance weighting. Individual patient time-to-event data were reconstructed to create an overall Kaplan-Meier survival function for matched studies. Sensitivity analyses were performed according to the risk of bias, matching status, and source of HR.
Main outcomes and measures
The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality.
Results
A total of 23 studies (100,314 patients), all with a retrospective observational design, were identified. The weighted mean follow-up time was 8.8 years post-operatively. Total arterial revascularization was associated with greater freedom from all-cause mortality than non-TAR (HR, 0.77, 95% CI, 0.71 to 0.84, p<0.001). There was evidence of low heterogeneity (I2=45%) across studies. Low publication bias was observed. Leave-one-out influence analysis and sensitivity analyses produced consistent results. Cochrane Collaboration signaling domains showed no critical risk of bias.
Conclusions and relevance
This meta-analysis found superior late survival associated with total arterial revascularization. Further randomized clinical trials are needed.

Abstract
The Surface Eroding Thermocouple (SETC) is a robust diagnostic utilized in DIII-D to provide fast, edge-localized modes (ELMs) resolved heat flux measurements, in particular in geometric regions that are too shadowed for traditional infrared thermography. In order to further investigate the power dissipation in the divertor region, a combination of flush-mounted and recessed SETCs was developed to assess the effect on surface heating from non-charged particles at the divertor target. Utilizing the Divertor Materials Evaluation System sample exposure platform, the first demonstration of the feasibility of using this new method to distinguish between the heat flux from charged particles and that from neutrals and radiative heating was achieved. This paper details the process of using the combination of flush SETCs and recessed SETCs to measure the multiple heat flux components at the divertor target and further discusses how to determine two important ratios, α (ratio of heat flux from charged particles deposit on recessed SETC to that deposit on flush SETC) and β (ratio of heat flux from non-charged particles deposit on recessed SETC to that deposit on flush SETC), in the estimation of the heat flux from non-charged particle sources. Using a time dependent ratio α, it was found that ∼50% of the total incident heat flux is attributable to the non-charged particles in the fully detached open divertor in DIII-D. Finally, the new application of similar SETC diagnostics in the Small Angle Slot divertor with a V-like configuration and partial tungsten coated surface (SAS-VW) is also introduced.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the localization methods of supratrochlear artery (STA) and supraorbital artery (SOA), and to explore the clinical benefit of locating nerve via accompanying vascular localization in combined transfrontal and intranasal endoscopic approaches. Methods: From June 2019 to May 2021, 14 patients, including 11 males and 3 females, aging from 18 to 69 years old, were underwent frontal sinus surgery through the combined transfrontal and intranasal endoscopic approaches in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Before the surgery, localization of STA and SOA was determined by color doppler flow imaging (CDFI), computerized topographic angiography (CTA) and contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) respectively, and the distances between STA and SOA from facial midline were measured on 28 eyebrows. The position of external incision was determined according to the preoperative localization of STA and SOA. The examination time, cost and postoperative complications of the three methods were recorded. The accuracy of localization at 14 sides was verified by the surgery. GraphPad Prism 8.3 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: STA and SOA could be located by CDFI, CTA and CE-MRA. There was no significant difference in the measurement of the distance between STA and SOA from the facial midline among 3 methods (all P>0.05). Determining the position of external incision according to the localization of STA and SOA could protect both the blood vessels and accompanying nerves. No postoperative complications such as numbness of the forehead skin occurred. The measurement time of CDFI, CTA and CE-MRA was 22.50 (15.75, 30.00), 30.00 (28.00, 34.25) and 48.00 (44.00, 52.75) min (M (Q1, Q3)), respectively (all P<0.05). CDFI incurred the lowest costs and took the shortest time. Conclusions: CDFI is an efficient and economic localization method. The localization of STA and SOA facilitates the precise selection of the position of external incision, protects the accompanying nerve and reduces postoperative complications.

Abstract
Objective: To determine IgG antibody levels of measles, rubella, mumps in healthy population in Shanghai from 2010 to 2020 and analyze the trend of antibody changes in different age groups. Methods: 10 828 healthy people without measles, rubella and mumps in Shanghai were included in the study from 2010 to 2020. Serum samples were collected from 12 age groups, and the serum IgG antibody of measles, rubella and mumps were detected by ELISA. The difference of antibody positive rates and antibody levels were analyzed. Results: The median age M (Q1, Q3) of 10 828 objects were 8 years old (9 months old, 20 years old). Males accounted for 48.34% (5 234/10 828) and females accounted for 50.92% (5 514/10 828). Unknown gender information accounted for 0.74% (80/10 828), and 27.03% (2 927/10 828) of participants had unknown MMR immunization history. The total positive rates of measles, rubella and mumps IgG antibody were 76.78%, 64.46% and 64.29% and their GMCs were 541.45 mIU/ml, 31.76 IU/ml and 133.73 U/ml respectively. There were significant differences in serum IgG antibody GMC of measles, rubella and mumps in each year (Fmeasles=180.74, P<0.001; Frubella=189.95, P<0.001; Fmumps=122.40, P<0.001). The positive rate of measles antibody was higher than that of rubella and mumps, and the difference was statistically significant (χ²=518.09, P<0.001). Conclusion: The level of measles IgG antibody in healthy people in Shanghai is higher, while the level of rubella and mumps IgG antibody is slightly lower.

Abstract
This Letter reports the first measurement of high-energy reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay, with nearly 9000 inverse beta decay candidates in the prompt energy region of 8-12 MeV observed over 1958 days of data collection. A multivariate analysis is used to separate 2500 signal events from background statistically. The hypothesis of no reactor antineutrinos with neutrino energy above 10 MeV is rejected with a significance of 6.2 standard deviations. A 29% antineutrino flux deficit in the prompt energy region of 8-11 MeV is observed compared to a recent model prediction. We provide the unfolded antineutrino spectrum above 7 MeV as a data-based reference for other experiments. This result provides the first direct observation of the production of antineutrinos from several high-Q_{β} isotopes in commercial reactors.

MRI-based radiomics analysis in differentiating solid non-small-cell from small-cell lung carcinoma: a pilot study. Clin Radiol 2022; 77:e749-e757. [PMID: 35817610 DOI: 10.1016/j.crad.2022.06.006] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/13/2021] [Revised: 04/29/2022] [Accepted: 06/01/2022] [Indexed: 12/24/2022]
Abstract
AIM To investigate the ability of a T2-weighted (W) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics signature to differentiate solid non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) from small-cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS The present retrospective study enrolled 152 eligible patients (NSCLC = 125, SCLC = 27). All patients underwent MRI using a 3 T scanner and radiomics features were extracted from T2W MRI. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression model was used to identify the optimal radiomics features for the construction of a radiomics model to differentiate solid NSCLC from SCLC. Threefold cross validation repeated 10 times was used for model training and evaluation. The conventional MRI morphology features of the lesions were also evaluated. The performance of the conventional MRI morphological features, and the radiomics signature model and nomogram model (combining radiomics signature with conventional MRI morphological features) was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. RESULTS Five optimal features were chosen to build a radiomics signature. There was no significant difference in age, gender, and the largest diameter. The radiomics signature and conventional MRI morphological features (only pleural indentation and lymph node enlargement) were independent predictive factors for differentiating solid NSCLC from SCLC. The area under the ROC curves (AUCs) for MRI morphological features, and the radiomics model, and nomogram model was 0.69, 0.85, and 0.90 (ROC), respectively. CONCLUSIONS The T2W MRI-based radiomics signature is a potential non-invasive approach for distinguishing solid NSCLC from SCLC.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical features and treatment strategy of rare tumor in the internal auditory canal(IAC). Methods: A retrospective study was carried out in 213 patients with lesion of ICA form January 2010 to December 2020. According to imaging features, surgical findings, and pathological diagnosis, there were 7 cases of non-sporadic acoustic neuroma, including 2 cases of cavernous hemangioma, 2 cases of aneurysm, 1 case of intralabyrinthical schwannoma, 1 case of meningioma, and 1 case of unilateral neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). The clinical manifestations, imaging data and intraoperative conditions as well as the formulation of individualized treatment strategies and prognosis were comprehensively analyzed. Results: In addition to hearing loss, cavernous hemangioma early appeared damage of facial nerve. CT showed expansion and calcification of IAC. Patients with aneurysm appeared tinnitus and vertigo early. CT showed enlargement of ampulla shape of IAC. DSA or MRA can help confirm the diagnosis. Patients with intralabyrinthine schwannoma early appeared refractory vertigo. High resolution MRI was helpful for diagnosis. "Dural tail sign" can be seen on enhanced MRI of meningeoma. Neurofibromatosis type 2 usually presented as bilateral vestibular schwannomas, but a few patients presented only with unilateral vestibular schwannomas.. All patients underwent labyrinth approach resection except one patient with NF2 for followed-up. Their postoperative symptoms were relieved. No tumor recurrence was observed during 6-3 years of follow-up. Conclusions: The clinical and imaging manifestations of rare tumors of the internal auditory canal are different. The principle of treatment is also different. It is helpful to avoid the serious consequences caused by blind operation to confirm diagnosis before operation.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of applying the digital six-axis external fixation frame based on CT data in the treatment of tibiofibular fractures. Methods: The clinical data of 43 patients with tibiofibular fractures treated by the self-developed digital six-axis external fixation frame based on CT data at Integrated Orthopedic Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine,HongHui Hospital from January 2018 to January 2021 were retrospective analysis. There were 27 males and 16 females, aged (36.0±9.4) years(range:25 to 50 years).AO classification:15 cases of 42A,11 cases of 42B, and 17 cases of 42C.There were 7 open fractures and Gustilo fracture classification:2 cases of type Ⅰ,4 cases of type Ⅱ,and 1 case of type Ⅲ.The two or three plane rings were connected with six connecting rods to form a complete six-axis external fixation frame, and the distal and proximal fracture blocks were connected to the distal and proximal rings by fixation pins, and the lengths of the six connecting rods needed to be adjusted were calculated by using the supporting software according to the CT data after surgery, and then the lengths of the connecting rods were adjusted one by one to complete the reduction of the fracture. The reduction accuracy of this six-axis external fixation brace was evaluated by measuring postoperative radiographs; postoperative recovery and complications were collected, the time of brace removal was recorded, and the function of the affected limb was evaluated according to the Johner-Wruhs score at the final follow-up. Results: Postoperative radiographs showed that all patients achieved satisfactory reduction with lateral displacement(M(IQR)) of 2.3(2.5) mm (range:0.3 to 7.3 mm),anteroposterior displacement of 2.1 (2.4) mm (range:0.3 to 5.7 mm),anteroposterior angulation of 2.5(2.4)°(range:0 to 5°),internal and external angulation of 2.1(1.5)°(range:0 to 4°), and no significant internal or external rotational deformity was detected on the exterior. On the second postoperative day,all patients were able to walk with partial weight-bearing on crutches. All 43 patients were followed up for more than 6 months, with a follow-up period of (33.3±7.3) weeks (range:24 to 42 weeks). The external fixation frame was removed after the fracture healed. The external frame was removed at 20(3)weeks (range:18 to 25 weeks) postoperatively. Up to the final follow up, no secondary fracture occurred in any of them. The Johner-Wruhs score of the affected limb at the last follow-up was excellent in 39 cases and good in 4 cases. Conclusion: The digital six-axis external fixator based on CT data for tibiofibular fractures has the advantages of precise reduction, firm fixation, simple operation, rapid fracture healing, and minimal trauma, which is a minimally invasive method for treating tibiofibular fractures, especially suitable for patients with poor skin and soft tissue conditions such as open injuries.

Abstract
Objective: To learn about the noise exposure and health status of workers and analyze factors that may affect the health outcomes of workers in an auto manufacturing enterprise in Tianjin City. Methods: In September 2020, occupational hygiene survey, noise exposure level detection and occupational health examination data collection were carried out in an auto parts manufacturing enterprise. Chi square test and unconditional logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the health effects of noise exposure and hearing loss of 361 noise exposure workers. Results: The rates of over-standard noise exposure, hearing loss and hypertension were 69.39% (34/49) , 33.24% (120/361) and 11.36% (41/361) , respectively. There were upward trends on age and noise-working years for hearing loss and hypertension rates (χ(2)=-5.95, -6.16, -2.81, -2.74, P<0.05) . Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that age>35 years old, noise exposure length of service >10 years and noise L(EX, 8 h)>85 dB (A) were risk factors for hearing loss (OR=3.57, 95%CI: 1.09, 11.75; OR=4.05, 95%CI: 1.97, 8.25; OR=1.75, 95%CI: 1.00, 3.05; P=0.036, 0.001, 0.047) . Conclusion: This company has a high rate of job noise exceeding the standard, and noise-exposed workers have more serious hearing loss. Age, noise exposure and high noise exposure are risk factors for hearing loss.

Abstract
The mortality of female breast cancer in Shandong Province has increased since the 1970. The differential decomposition analysis found that the slight decline in the crude mortality of breast cancer among women was entirely due to non-demographic factors during the 1970-1990, and the significant increase in the crude mortality was due to a combination of demographic and non-demographic factors since the 1990. The contribution rate of demographic factor has gradually increased from 53.5% in 2004-2005 to 59.5% in 2011-2013, while that of non-demographic factor has decreased from 46.5% to 40.5%. The women aged 45-64 years old were the major population of female breast cancer deaths, accounting for 40%-60% of total breast cancer deaths in different times, and then the mortality in female aged 55-64 years old increased rapidly, with increases of 52.12%, 115.19% and 29.01% in 2011-2013 over the 1970-1974, 1990-1992 and 2004-2005, respectively (Z=-7.342,P<0.001). Compared with 1970-1974, the age-standardized mortality rate of rural women increased by 41.86% in 2011-2013 (Z=-17.933, P<0.001), and that of urban women increased by 18.62% in 2011-2013 (Z=-25.642, P<0.001). The age-standardized mortality rate of breast cancer in urban women was higher than that in rural women in different times (all P<0.05). The spatial scan analysis found that eastern Shandong Province was found to be a sustained high-risk area for death, and other high-risk areas were transferred from north to southwest of Shandong between 1970 and 2013.

Abstract
Cytokines are powerful immune modulators that initiate signaling through receptor dimerization, but natural cytokines have structural limitations as therapeutics. We present a strategy to discover cytokine surrogate agonists by using modular ligands that exploit induced proximity and receptor dimer geometry as pharmacological metrics amenable to high-throughput screening. Using VHH and scFv to human interleukin-2/15, type-I interferon, and interleukin-10 receptors, we generated combinatorial matrices of single-chain bispecific ligands that exhibited diverse spectrums of functional activities, including potent inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 by surrogate interferons. Crystal structures of IL-2R:VHH complexes revealed that variation in receptor dimer geometries resulted in functionally diverse signaling outputs. This modular platform enabled engineering of surrogate ligands that compelled assembly of an IL-2R/IL-10R heterodimer, which does not naturally exist, that signaled through pSTAT5 on T and natural killer (NK) cells. This "cytokine med-chem" approach, rooted in principles of induced proximity, is generalizable for discovery of diversified agonists for many ligand-receptor systems.

Joint Determination of Reactor Antineutrino Spectra from ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu Fission by Daya Bay and PROSPECT. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:081801. Abstract
A joint determination of the reactor antineutrino spectra resulting from the fission of ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu has been carried out by the Daya Bay and PROSPECT Collaborations. This Letter reports the level of consistency of ^{235}U spectrum measurements from the two experiments and presents new results from a joint analysis of both data sets. The measurements are found to be consistent. The combined analysis reduces the degeneracy between the dominant ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu isotopes and improves the uncertainty of the ^{235}U spectral shape to about 3%. The ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu antineutrino energy spectra are unfolded from the jointly deconvolved reactor spectra using the Wiener-SVD unfolding method, providing a data-based reference for other reactor antineutrino experiments and other applications. This is the first measurement of the ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu spectra based on the combination of experiments at low- and highly enriched uranium reactors.

Unusual Properties of Hydrogen-Bonded Ferroelectrics: The Case of Cobalt Formate. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:077601. Abstract
Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites is a class of materials with diverse chemically tunable properties and outstanding potential for multifunctionality. We use first-principles simulations to predict room temperature ferroelectricity in a representative of the formate family, [NH_{2}NH_{3}][Co(HCOO)_{3}]. The ferroelectricity arises as a "by-product" of structural transition driven by the stabilization of the hydrogen bond. As a consequence the coupling with the electric field is relatively weak giving origin to large intrinsic coercive fields and making material immune to the depolarizing fields known for its detrimental role in nanoscale ferroelectrics. Insensitivity to the electric field and the intrinsic dynamics of the order-disorder transition in such material leads to the supercoercivity defined as significant increase in the coercive field with frequency. Room temperature polarization measurements provide further support for the predictions.

CT and MRI features of extraocular muscle granular cell tumour: preliminary experience in eight cases. Clin Radiol 2021; 77:e308-e312. [PMID: 34980459 DOI: 10.1016/j.crad.2021.12.007] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.7] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/20/2021] [Accepted: 12/08/2021] [Indexed: 11/03/2022]
Abstract
AIM To characterise the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features, in particular the functional MRI characteristics, of extraocular muscle granular cell tumours (GCTs). MATERIALS AND METHODS The CT (n=6) and MRI (n=8) features of eight extraocular muscle GCTs cofirmed at histopathology were analysed retrospectively. The imaging findings were evaluated with emphasis on the location, size, margin, shape, extent, bony change, internal architecture, enhancement pattern, and extent of lesions. Based on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI, the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value of six lesions and time-intensity curve (TIC) of one lesion were reviewed. RESULTS Immunohistochemistry revealed strong positivity for S-100 protein and a low Ki-67 index (2-5%) in all cases. Most of the lesions (7/8) were confined to the muscle belly with an ovoid shape. All of the tumours were isodense to cerebral grey matter and showed homogeneously mild enhancement on CT images. All lesions were hypointense to cerebral grey matter on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and showed homogeneously marked enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging (T1WI). All lesions showed a hypo- or isointense signal on DWI images with a high b-value. The mean ADC of six lesions was (0.72 ± 0.14) × 10-3 mm2/s. The TIC of the case examined using DCE-MRI showed a plateau pattern (type II). CONCLUSION A well-defined oval mass confined to the muscle belly with a hypointense signal on T2WI, homogeneously marked enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1WI, hypo- or isointense signal on DWI, and low ADC value is highly suggestive of a GCT.

Abstract
Objective: To collate and analyze the screening results of high-risk lung cancer populations in communities in Nanchang from 2018 to 2019, and to explore the lung-positive nodules and risk factors for lung cancer. Methods: Data of the screening subjects in 8 administrative districts and 15 street health service centers in Nanchang city, Jiangxi province from November 2018 to October 2019 were collected, people at high risk of lung cancer was assessed, clinical screening of high-risk groups of lung cancer was conducted by low-dose helical computed tomography (LDCT), and risk factors for suspected lung cancer and lung-positive nodules were analyzed. Results: Of the 25 871 people participated in screening, 5 220 were at high risk for lung cancer and 15 374 without other malignant tumors were at high risk. There were 2 417 cases participated in clinical LDCT screening, including 193 cases of lung-positive nodules, 67 cases of suspected lung cancer, 912 cases of other lung diseases, the positive rate of lung cancer or lung-positive nodules was 10.76% (260/2 417). Univariate analysis showed that age, coarse grain intake, oil intake, housing heating, passive smoking, alcohol consumption and mental trauma were associated with positive pulmonary nodules or lung cancer (all P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that gender, age, housing heating, smoking and drinking were related to the occurrence of lung nodules or lung cancer (all P<0.05). Conclusions: Men are more likely to develop lung cancer or lung-positive nodules than women. The age is an independent risk factor for lung-positive nodules or lung cancer. In a certain range, age will increase the incidence of lung cancer, housing heating may be the protective factor for lung cancer, while smoking and drinking are risk factors.
