Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the dissipation kinetics of deltamethrin, emamectin benzoate, and hexythiazox in grapes. The QuEChERS method was employed and validated for the precise determination of these three pesticides using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Excellent linearity was observed with regression coefficients exceeding 0.998. Notably, the limits of quantification (LOQ) were significantly lower than the maximum residue limits (MRLs) established for grapes by the European Union. The QuEChERS method l recovered 93.23% of the pesticides with an acceptable RSD of 5.35% (n = 180), demonstrating its suitability for quantifying them in grapes. Half-lives of deltamethrin, emamectin benzoate, and hexythiazox in grapes were 2.62-2.68 days, 8.15-7.30 days, and 3.24-4.01 days, respectively, for both single and double doses. Residues of all pesticides fell below the MRLs by the preharvest interval. This suggests that their application can be considered safe for grapes, ensuring both pest control and consumer safety.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Grape and leaf quality are often severely reduced by fungi such as grey rot Botrytis cinerea Pers., powdery mildew Erysiphe necator Schwein, and downy mildew Plasmopara viticola (Berk. & M.A.Curtis) Berl. & De Toni and by insects such as Otiorhynchus spp., European grapevine moth Lobesia botrana Den.-Schiff., vine mealybug Planococcus citri Risso, and grape erineum mite Colomerus vitis Pgst. Various pesticides are often applied to mitigate these pest problems. These chemicals used singly as well as in the form of a mixture can leave residues on or in the crop. It is therefore of great importance to study the dissipation of the pesticides applied alone and in mixtures to this crop to protect consumers. RESULTS The dissipation kinetics of cypermethrin, boscalid, deltamethrin, kresoxim-methyl, lambda-cyhalothrin, metalaxyl-M, metrafenone, and triadimenol residues were studied in vine leaves grown under sunny conditions in Turkey. The dissipation rate for singly applied pesticides followed first-order kinetics, with half-lifes in grape leaves in the range of 1.85-7.22 days. Changes in the degradation process of pesticide residues were determined after application, as both single applications and mixtures. The degradation of boscalid, cymoxanil, deltamethrin and metalaxyl-M accelerated while the degradation of cypermethrin, kresoxim-methyl, and lambda-cyhalothrin slowed down in mixtures of pesticides. CONCLUSION The use of pesticides in mixtures leads to slower degradation and higher residues for some active ingredients and faster degradation and fewer residues for other active ingredients. Therefore, pesticide mixtures should not be applied in the field without having detailed information about their ingredients. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Abstract
Objective
Recent studies have shown that CTO intervention improves ECG depolarization. however, its effect on mortality and left ventricular function is uncertain. Therefore, decision to revascularisation in CTO patients remains challenging. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the electrical changes in CTO patients according to the ischemia status detected by myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS).
Method
The study population consisted of two groups. CTO patients with angina were included in the first group and CTO patients with ischemia detected by MPS were included in the second group. Only symptomatic patients were included. CTO patients without angina were excluded from the study. After successful percutaneous CTO recanalization, ECG variables were measured before the procedure and 12–18 months after the procedure.
Results
After pre-assessment, 94 patients met study criteria. 49 patients without MPS. 45 patients were included in the MPS group. Three studies showed a significant decrease in mean QT dispersion of 17.46 ms [95% CI 10.62–24.30] after successful CTO PCI. In both groups, post-PCI QT dispersion did not differ between groups. All groups were similar in terms of ventricular arrhythmia. There was no sudden cardiac death in either group. However, more symptomatic improvement was observed in the group with ischemia with MPS.
Conclusion
According to our findings, CTO intervention has reduced proarrhythmic ECG findings. But similar electrical changes were observed between symptomatic (with angina) patients and patients with evidence of ischemia. In this context, CTO PCI should be considered in terms of electrical stability and improvement in symptoms in all patients presenting with anginal symptoms, with or without evidence of ischemia.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of green tea (Camellia sinensis) catechins in quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Quail were fed with a basal diet, and the treatment groups were fed on the basal diet with 1.25 or 2.50 g/kg catechin supplementation for 30 d. Fattening performance and meat quality of the quail were estimated. Serum total antioxidant status (TAS), plasma and liver malondialdehyde (MDA) and some serum biochemical parameters were measured. The results showed that catechin supplementation did not affect live weight, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, carcass dressing or the nutrient composition of breast and thigh meats. The water holding capacity (WHC) of breast meat was increased in the 2.50 g/kg catechin treatment. Catechin supplementation increased the serum TAS, but decreased plasma MDA and liver MDA concentration as well as serum glucose and total cholesterol levels. Serum triglyceride and total protein levels were not affected by catechin supplementation. In conclusion, catechins have effective antioxidant hypoglycaemic and hypocholesterolaemic properties, as well as having the potential to increase meat quality in fattening quail. On the other hand, catechin supplementation did not have any negative effect on the fattening performance, meat nutrient composition and fattening costs in fattening quail.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is a very common disease that must be diagnosed and treated quickly and accurately to reduce significant morbidity and mortality rates. Acute pulmonary embolism is associated with numerous electrocardiographic (ECG) changes including prolonged QT interval with global T-wave inversion. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the T-wave peak-to-end interval and diagnosis of APE, which has never been investigated in the literature. PATIENTS AND METHODS Seventy-three patients who were suspected of having APE took part in the present study. The Local Ethics Committee of Istanbul University, Turkey, approved the study protocol. Forty-one of the patients were diagnosed as having APE using computed tomography. Surface ECGs were taken in the initial assessment at admission. The Tp-Te interval was identified as the interval from the peak of the T-wave to the end of the T-wave. The measurements of the Tp-Te interval were taken using precordial leads. All measurements were compared using appropriate statistical tests. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 22.0. RESULTS We enrolled 73 patients to the study, 41 of which were diagnosed as having APE. Men comprised 54% of the APE group. The mean ages in the APE (+) and APE (-) groups were 59.5 ± 14.5 years and 61±9.2 years, respectively. There was a significant increase in Tp-Te results in V1 (p<0.01). The Tp-Te interval was 74.21 ± 20.81 in the APE (+) group, whereas it was 59.73 ± 12.82 in APE (-) group (p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is a mortal condition and as such, rapid and accurate diagnosis is very important. Surface ECG can be used to measure Tp-Te in patients admitted to the emergency room with suspected APE in the differential diagnosis as a fast and easily accessible tool.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to introduce population-based sex and age-stratified distributions of carotid intima media thickness (CIMT), to compare fixed cut-off and percentile values for subjects with and without known coronary heart disease (CHD) and to describe CIMT percentiles. METHODS Between 2000 and 2003, a total of 4,814 subjects aged 45-75 years were recruited into the Heinz Nixdorf recall study (HNR). Ultrasound examination of extracranial arteries was performed and the CIMT was measured manually over a distance of 1 cm proximal to the bulb in the common carotid artery (CCA). Both sides were measured and the average of the right and left artery were calculated (mean CIMT). RESULTS The CIMT was measured for 1,749 men and 1,802 women without prevalent CHD and 177 men and 50 women with prevalent CHD. Mean CIMT values were higher in men compared to women (men 0.71 ± 0.14 mm vs. women 0.65 ± 0.11 mm, p ≤ 0.0001) and in subjects with CHD compared to those without (men with and without CHD: 0.76 ± 0.14 mm and 0.70 ± 0.14 mm, p ≤ 0.0001, respectively; women with and without CHD: 0.73 ± 0.15 mm and 0.64 ± 0.11 mm, p ≤ 0.0001, respectively). In men the mean CIMT increased from 0.62 ± 0.10 mm in the youngest (45-49 years old) up to 0.79 ± 0.13 mm in the highest age group (≥ 70 years) (0.57 ± 0.08 mm up to 0.71 ± 0.12 mm in women, p ≤ 0.0001 for both). CONCLUSIONS Compared to international studies similar CIMT distributions were found in this study using both continuous and percentile distributions. However, lower CIMT values were observed in older participants, which can be explained by exclusion of carotid plaque formation in CIMT measurements.

Abstract
Weight differences of male and female pupae of gypsy moth [Lymantria dispar L. (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae)] and its two parasitoids Lymantrichneumon disparis (Poda) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) and Exorista larvarum (L.) (Diptera: Tachinidae) host preference were examined in this study. Lymantria dispar pupae were collected from trunks and branches of 20 Ironwood trees (Parotia persica) in two sampling dates, 10 July 2005 and 24 July 2005. The pest pupae were weighted and then saved at room temperature until adults of gypsy moth or its parasitoids emerged. The most L. dispar pupae collected in the first sampling were male whereas those in the second one were female and both male and female pupae in the second sampling were smaller than those in first sampling. The majority of male pupae (98.29%) were less than 0.6 g and most of female pupae (79.39%) were more than 0.6 g in weight. The most of L. disparis emerged from male pupae of L. dispar, whereas the majority of E. larvarum emerged from female pupae. Implications of the results for biological control strategy of gypsy moth are discussed.

A new material for prevention of peritendinous fibrotic adhesions after tendon repair: oxidised regenerated cellulose (Interceed), an absorbable adhesion barrier. Int Orthop 2007; 32:389-94. Abstract
In this experimental study, we aimed to examine the ability of absorbable oxidised regenerated cellulose (Interceed, TC-7, Johnson & Johnson, USA) to inhibit the formation of peritendinous fibrotic adhesions after tendon repair in rats. Both Achilles tendons of 23 female Wistar-Albino rats weighing between 350 and 450 grams were cut and repaired. On the right side, Interceed absorbable adhesion barriers were wrapped around the repaired tendon (group I). On the left, the same procedures were applied except for the Interceed wrapping and these were grouped as control (group II). Animals were sacrificed at postoperative day 28 and macroscopic and histological examination was performed. All the animals survived and no tendon rupture was observed. No wound dehiscence, wound infection or exposure of repaired tendons occurred. Macroscopically, there were three (13.1%) tendons without adhesion formation and 20 (86.9%) tendons with inferior adhesion formation in group I; on the other hand, there were 16 tendons (69.5%) with medium grade adhesion formation and seven tendons (30.5%) with severe peritendinous adhesion formation in group II (control group) (p<0.05). Histologically, adhesion formation was absent in 11 tendons (47.8%) and slight in 12 tendons (52.2%) in group I; while in group II, it was slight in two (8.6%), moderate in 15 (65.2%) and severe in six tendons (26.2%) (p<0.05). Sixteen (69.5%) of 23 tendons in group I and 11 (47.8%) of 23 tendons in group II showed no inflammatory reaction (p<0.05). Nineteen (82.6%) tendons in group I and only one tendon in group II showed excellent to good tendon healing (p=0.00). According to our results, we feel that Interceed may have an intraoperative role to play in the reduction of adhesions after surgical tendon repair. This study suggests that absorbable oxidised regenerated cellulose merits further evaluation as a potential treatment to inhibit the formation of peritendinous adhesions. Rigorous and extensive controlled trials should be undertaken on patients undergoing tendon repair with or without this barrier.

Abstract
In order to determine the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (POPC) and the value of preoperative spirometry to predict pulmonary complications after upper abdominal surgery, 24 women and 36 men (total 60 patients) were studied prospectively (mean age 48 center dot 3 years). On the day before the operation and for 15 days after the operation, each patient's respiratory status was assessed by clinical examination, chest radiography, spirometry and blood gas analysis, and patients were monitored for pulmonary complications by a chest physician and a surgeon independently. In this study, postoperative pulmonary complications developed in 21 (35%) patients (pneumonia in 10 patients, bronchitis in nine patients, atelectasis in one patient, pulmonary embolism in one patient). Of 31 patients with abnormal preoperative spirometry, 14 (45 center dot 2%) patients showed complications, whereas among 29 patients with normal preoperative spirometry, 7 (24 center dot 1%) patients showed complications (P <0 center dot 05). The incidence of POPC was higher in patients with advanced age, smoking, preoperative abnormal findings obtained from physical examination of the chest, higher ASA class and longer duration of operation. The sensitivity (0 center dot 76) and specificity (0 center dot 79) of abnormal preoperative findings obtained from physical examination to predict POPC were higher than abnormal preoperative spirometry (0 center dot 67 and 0 center dot 56 retrospectively). There was no significant difference between patients with and without pulmonary complications in regard to weight, serum albumin, type of incision, incidence of abnormal preoperative blood gases and duration of postoperative hospital stay. We conclude that POPC is still a serious cause of postoperative morbidity. Multiple risk factors include preoperative abnormal spirometry responsible for development of POPC. If used alone, spirometry has limited clinical value as a screening test to predict POPC after upper abdominal surgery.
