Abstract
A new series of 4,5-diphenyl-2H-1,2,4-triazol-3(4H)-one were synthesized to study the effect of cyclization of the semicarbazone moiety of aryl semicarbazones on the anticonvulsant activity. Structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by the use of their spectral data besides elemental analysis. All compounds were evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity in four animal models of seizures, viz. maximal electroshock seizure (MES), subcutaneous pentylenetetrazole (scPTZ), subcutaneous strychnine (scSTY), and subcutaneous picrotoxin (scPIC)-induced seizure threshold tests. The compounds were also evaluated for neurotoxicity. Compounds 4, 9, 14-19 exhibited anticonvulsant activity in all the four animal models of seizure.

Abstract
Self assembling peptidebased hydrogel has been explored for delivering growth factors, anticancer drugs, antibiotics etc. Here, RADA 16-I (RADARADARADARADA), an ionic self complementary peptide that forms a well defined nanohydrogel has been studied for its ability to deliver PDGF-BB in a sustained manner and to destruct biofilm formed by wound specific pathogens. Results of the structural analysis of the nanohydrogel studied through AFM, FeSEM, CD, FT-IR and Rheometry, revealed the hydrogel forming ability of RADA 16-I with stable β-sheet structure at room temperature. The nanohydrogel was also found to destruct the biofilm formed under in vitro condition using S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa. The growth factor incorporated in the nanohydrogel followed first order release kinetics and showed sustained release up to 48 h. Angiogenic potential and wound healing ability of PDGF-BB incorporated nanohydrogel was confirmed in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. The animals treated with PDGF-BB incorporated nanohydrogel exhibited 99.5% wound closure at day 21. The content of hydroxyproline and ascorbic acid was significantly high in the treated animals when compared to control and untreated animals. Overall, the study provides the essential information and data for using RADA 16-I for treating chronic wounds.

Abstract
Polycythemia vera (PV) is a stem cell disorder, characterized as a panhyperplastic, malignant, and neoplastic marrow disorder. Several reasons suggest that a mutation on the Janus kinase-2 gene (JAK2) is the most probable candidate gene involved in PV pathogenesis, as JAK2 is directly involved in intracellular signaling, following its exposure to cytokines, to which PV progenitor cells display hypersensitivity. A recurrent unique acquired clonal mutation in JAK2 was found in most patients with PV and other myeloproliferative diseases (MPDs). A female patient of age 50 years, presented with hemiplegia, diplopia, and had a consistent rise in hemoglobin and hematocrit. Serum Erythropoietin (Epo) was decreased. JAK2 mutation analysis was found to be negative. A diagnosis of polycythemia vera was made on the basis of the British Committee for Standards in Hematology (BCSH) guidelines.

Abstract
Phycoremediation ability of microalgae namely Oscillatoria acuminate and Phormidium irrigum were validated against the heavy metals from tannery effluent of Ranipet industrial area. The microalgae species were cultured in media containing tannery effluent in two different volumes and the parameters like specific growth rate, protein content and antioxidant enzyme activities were estimated. FTIR spectroscopy was carried out to know the sorption sites interaction. The antioxidant enzymes namely superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione (GSH) contents were increased in microalgae species indicating the free radical scavenging mechanism under heavy metal stress. SOD activity was 0.502 and 0.378 units/gram fresh weight, CAT activity was 1.36 and 0.256 units/gram fresh weight, GSH activity was 1.286 and 1.232 units/gram fresh weight respectively in the effluent treated microalgae species. Bio sorption efficiency for Oscillatoria acuminate and Phormidium irrigum was 90% and 80% respectively. FTIR analysis revealed the interaction of microalgae species with chemical groups present in the tannery effluent. From the results, the microalgae Oscillatoria acuminate possess high antioxidant activity and bio sorption efficiency when compared to Phormidium irrigum and hence considered useful in treating heavy metals contaminated effluents.

Abstract
There are two crystallographically independent organic molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C12H12Cl2N2O2·0.5H2O. The benzodiazepine ring adopts a distorted boat conformation in both molecules. The crystal packing is controlled by N—H⋯O, C—H⋯O and O—H⋯O intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. A graph-set motif of R33(14) dimer formation by a combination of N—H⋯O, O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds stabilizes the molecules and extends along a axis.

Abstract
Background COVID-19 is a new pandemic disease. This disease course and its effect on pregnancy is little known due to limited available data. The objective of this study was to describe the demographic profile of COVID-19 positive mothers admitted in Government Rajaji hospital, Madurai in terms of time, place and person and to assess the general and pregnancy outcome of study population. Methods This cross-sectional study was done among 381 COVID-19 positive mothers* admitted during March 22 – August 31, 2020 in dedicated COVID-19 hospital, Madurai. Data was collected using Case Investigation Form (CIF) as a part of Rapid Response Team*(RRT) by Community Medicine* Department and analysed using SPSS version 21. Descriptive statistics done; Chi-square test & Fischer exact test was done to find out association between patient profile and outcomes. Results Out of 381, 154 (40.4%) belonged to 21–25 years, 192 (50.4%) to rural area, 318 (83.5%) to 3rd trimester,189 (49.6%) Primi gravida. 125 (32.8%) were symptomatic and 153 (80.8%) had at least one comorbidity. Death as general outcome was 3 (0.8%), all of them were referred cases and had comorbidity like GDM/PIH. 10 (2.62%) had abortion or perinatal death, 14 (3.77%) had preterm delivery, 99 (25.98%) babies were born small for gestational age. Increased maternal age had more death but was not statistically significant; All symptomatic mothers (p = 0.000),1st & 2nd trimester (p = 0.000) mothers had statistically significant poor pregnancy outcome*. Conclusion COVID positive mothers with increased age, symptomatic, 1st & 2nd trimester were significantly associated with poor outcome, requires special attention. Early referral must be emphasized to mitigate maternal death.

Abstract
Two new series of N4-(2, 5-disubstitutedphenyl) semicarbazones were synthesized and evaluated for the anticonvulsant activity in various animal models of seizures. Quantum mechanical modeling was carried out on these compounds to understand the structural features essential for activity. The higher the difference in HOMO and LUMO energy levels the greater was the activity profile. Substitution with fluoro group on the ortho position of the aryl ring was found to decrease the reactivity and hence the activity profile of aryl semicarbazones, which has been justified with the molecular orbital surface analysis of the synthesized compounds.

Abstract
The present study was carried out with the tannery effluent contaminated with heavy metals collected from Ambur industrial area to determine the phycoremediation potential of Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis. Two different concentrations (50 and 100 %) of heavy metals containing tannery effluent treated with A. platensis were analysed for growth, absorption spectra, biochemical properties and antioxidant enzyme activity levels. The effluent treatments revealed dose-dependent decrease in the levels of A. platensis growth (65.37 % for 50 % effluent and 49.32 % for 100 % effluent), chlorophyll content (97.43 % for 50 % effluent and 71.05 % for 100 % effluent) and total protein content (82.63 % for 50 % effluent and 62.10 % for 100 % effluent) that leads to the reduction of total solids, total dissolved solids and total suspended solids. A. platensis with lower effluent concentration was effective than at higher concentration. Treatment with the effluent also resulted in increased activity levels of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (14.58 units/g fresh weight for 50 % and 24.57 units/g fresh weight for 100 %) and catalase (0.963 units/g fresh weight for 50 % and 1.263 units/g fresh weight for 100 %). Furthermore, heavy metal content was determined using atomic absorption spectrometry. These results indicated that A. platensis has the ability to combat heavy metal stress by the induction of antioxidant enzymes demonstrating its potential usefulness in phycoremediation of tannery effluent.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of AI chatbots, including Bing, ChatGPT 3.5, Google Gemini, and Claude AI, in addressing frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to dental trauma. METHODOLOGY A set of 30 FAQs was initially formulated by collecting responses from four AI chatbots. A panel comprising expert endodontists and maxillofacial surgeons then refined these to a final selection of 20 questions. Each question was entered into each chatbot three times, generating a total of 240 responses. These responses were evaluated using the Global Quality Score (GQS) on a 5-point Likert scale (5: strongly agree; 4: agree; 3: neutral; 2: disagree; 1: strongly disagree). Any disagreements in scoring were resolved through evidence-based discussions. The validity of the responses was determined by categorizing them as valid or invalid based on two thresholds: a low threshold (scores of ≥ 4 for all three responses) and a high threshold (scores of 5 for all three responses). A chi-squared test was used to compare the validity of the responses between the chatbots. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to assess the reliability by evaluating the consistency of repeated responses from each chatbot. CONCLUSION The results indicate that the Claude AI chatbot demonstrated superior validity and reliability compared to ChatGPT and Google Gemini, whereas Bing was found to be less reliable. These findings underscore the need for authorities to establish strict guidelines to ensure the accuracy of medical information provided by AI chatbots.

Abstract
Piriformis syndrome is a rare cause of sciatica, which results in low backache due to sciatic nerve compression. This syndrome is associated with abnormalities in the piriformis muscle, which cause sciatic nerve entrapment, like anatomical variations, muscle hypertrophy, and inflammation. It can also result from the abnormal course of sciatic nerve itself through normal piriformis muscle. Piriformis syndrome due to pyomyositis of the piriformis muscle is extremely rare and only 23 cases are reported in literature. Herein, we report one such rare case of a patient, with pyomyositis of piriformis muscle, who presented with piriformis syndrome.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the utility of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) as rapid screening tests to differentiate various types of meningitis in adults and to establish a cut off level for ADA. METHODS CSF samples were obtained from 50 patients who presented to the emergency room and out-patient of Sri Siddhartha Medical Hospital, Tumkur during the period between August 2006 and September 2008. Diagnosis of meningitis was based on the clinical presentation and CSF analysis. RESULTS Out of a total of 50 patients who were enrolled in the study, 24 were diagnosed as tubercular meningitis (TBM) based on the clinical features and CSF analysis. The mean Adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity was 14.14 +/- 7.44 U/l in the TBM group. The sensitivity and specificity was 73.9% and 92.6% respectively when a cut-off value of ADA of 10U/l was used, with an accuracy of 84%. CSF-C Reactive protein (CRP) was significantly higher in pyogenic meningitis compared to non-pyogenic meningitis. The sensitivity and specificity of the test was 83.3% and 100% respectively with an accuracy of 98%. CONCLUSIONS 2 rapid screening tests- CRP and ADA activity in the CSF can help in the differential diagnosis of pyogenic from non-pyogenic meningitis and tubercular from viral meningitis respectively. CRP being elevated in pyogenic meningitis and ADA activity noted to be higher in TBM. The levels of ADA and CRP were found to be low in viral meningitis.

Abstract
The conversion efficiency of a thermoelectric power generator depends on the dimensionless figure-of-merit (ZT) of the constituent thermoelectric materials, which is mainly determined by their Seebeck coefficient as well as the electrical and thermal conductivity. ZnO holds promise for thermoelectric applications, yet its use is currently limited by low electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity. Herein, we demonstrate how thermal conductivity of ZnO can be significantly reduced by intelligently combining it with a cellulose-based Ag fabric using a one-step hydrothermal method, and how different ratios of zinc nitrate hexahydrate (ZNH) to hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) can be used to fine-tune the thermoelectric performance of the resulting composite. We show that as-prepared samples have a composite structure of Ag, Zn and O without any other impurity phases. We propose that the facet dependent crystal growth orientation, from the c-axis in (101) planes to the a-axis in (100) plane, amplify phonon scattering within the material, impeding effective heat transfer and thereby lowering overall thermal conductivity to 0.046 W/mK at room temperature for composites with a 1:1 ZNH to HMT ratio.

Abstract
Background This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the accuracy of robotic-assisted dental implant placement (r-CAIS) with conventional freehand, static computer-assisted (s-CAIS), and dynamic computer-assisted (d-CAIS) techniques. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and the Cochrane Library from January 2000 to January 2024. Studies meeting PICOST criteria, including clinical and in vitro studies, were included. Data on coronal, apical, and angular deviations were extracted for meta-analysis. The risk of bias (RoB) was assessed using the QUIN RoB and JBI RoB tools. Results A total of 134 models and 100 patients with edentulous and partially edentulous arches were included. Eight studies (four in vitro, four in vivo) were reviewed, demonstrating that r-CAIS offers superior accuracy compared to freehand, s-CAIS, and d-CAIS techniques. Among the studies, two in vitro and two in vivo studies had a low RoB, while others had a high RoB. The meta-analysis of five studies showed significant improvements in coronal, apical, and angular deviations with robotic systems. Conclusion Robotic-assisted systems showed greater accuracy than traditional non-robotic systems. However, this finding should be interpreted with caution due to the limited number of clinical studies and potential funding biases. Moreover, the high cost of robotic systems presents challenges for routine clinical implementation. Future research should focus on cost-effectiveness and seek broader clinical validation.
