Abstract
BACKGROUND While capsule endoscopy (CE) is the gold standard diagnostic method of detecting small bowel (SB) diseases and disorders, a novel magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy (MCCE) system provides non-invasive evaluation of the gastric mucosal surface, which can be performed without sedation or discomfort. During standard SBCE, passive movement of the CE may cause areas of the complex anatomy of the gastric mucosa to remain unexplored, whereas the precision of MCCE capsule movements inside the stomach promises better visualization of the entire mucosa.
AIM To evaluate the Ankon MCCE system’s feasibility, safety, and diagnostic yield in patients with gastric or SB disorders.
METHODS Of outpatients who were referred for SBCE, 284 (male/female: 149/135) were prospectively enrolled and evaluated by MCCE. The stomach was examined in the supine, left, and right lateral decubitus positions without sedation. Next, all patients underwent a complete SBCE study protocol. The gastric mucosa was explored with the Ankon MCCE system with active magnetic control of the capsule endoscope in the stomach, applying three standardized pre-programmed computerized algorithms in combination with manual control of the magnetic movements.
RESULTS The urea breath test revealed Helicobacter pylori positivity in 32.7% of patients. The mean gastric and SB transit times with MCCE were 0 h 47 min 40 s and 3 h 46 min 22 s, respectively. The average total time of upper gastrointestinal MCCE examination was 5 h 48 min 35 s. Active magnetic movement of the Ankon capsule through the pylorus was successful in 41.9% of patients. Overall diagnostic yield for detecting abnormalities in the stomach and SB was 81.9% (68.6% minor; 13.3% major pathologies); 25.8% of abnormalities were in the SB; 74.2% were in the stomach. The diagnostic yield for stomach/SB was 55.9%/12.7% for minor and 4.9%/8.4% for major pathologies.
CONCLUSION MCCE is a feasible, safe diagnostic method for evaluating gastric mucosal lesions and is a promising non-invasive screening tool to decrease morbidity and mortality in upper gastro-intestinal diseases.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Linked color imaging (LCI) is a new endoscopic technology that may increase colorectal adenoma detection rate (ADR) and polyp detection rate (PDR) by virtual chromoendoscopy. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of LCI in ADR and PDR compared to the HD white-light colonoscopy (WLC) technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between October 2016 and June 2018, we enrolled consecutive outpatients prospectively. Eligible patients allocated randomly to undergo HD WLC or LCI colonoscopy technique during instrument withdrawal. Each colonoscopy was performed in a single center by the same three expert endoscopists (with expertise more than 5000 colonoscopies). RESULTS A total of 1278 patients underwent colonoscopy in the study period. ADR and PDR were significantly higher in the LCI group compared to the WLC group (34.4% vs. 26.8%; p = .007; and 53.3% vs 46.4%; p = .023, respectively). Similarly, the mean number of adenomas per patient (MAP) was significantly higher with the LCI than WLC (0.64 vs 0.44, respectively; p = .002). The mean age of patients at the time of colonoscopy was 51.95 years (SD = 13.861) in the LCI group and 51.96 years (SD = 14.028) in the WLC group. No significant differences observed in patient demographic characteristics (there was no difference in gender and age distribution, p = .986), quality of colonoscopy preparation and withdrawal times (WT) between the two groups (WLC and the LCI groups, 493.9 (SD: 143.5) and 514.0 (SD: 139.5) sec, respectively). CONCLUSIONS According to our results, LCI virtual chromoendoscopic technology was superior compared to conventional HD WLC in detecting colorectal polyps and adenomas.

Abstract
Tumour-related peer support groups (PSGs) show long-term development in quality of life and coping, and decrease distress in cancer care. To clarify channels of social support in oncologic rehabilitation by combined exercise and psychosocial therapy, individual semi-structured interviews were conducted after 1 year additional belly dance rehabilitation in a closed PSG among 51 patients with malignant tumour diagnosis in Budapest, Hungary. Interview data were transcribed and analysed using qualitative content analysis (ATLAS.ti 6 Win). Results suggest that group experience provides emotional-, practical- and informational support. We could point out specific social effects of "role model" function and extend the coping model. The group dispose all the features of effective suggestion and may be effectively applied as additional therapy for patients with malignancies. The extended coping model and the introduction of "role model" function could be useful for PSGs' efficacy assessment.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Early endoscopic diagnosis and endoscopic therapy are very important in cases of acute gastrointestinal bleeding. Hemospray is an inorganic powder with hemostatic properties recently proposed for the treatment of acute gastrointestinal bleeding. AIM The aim of the authors was to report the first Hungarian experience obtained with Hemospray in patients with acute gastrointestinal bleeding. METHOD During a 14-month period 10 acute upper gastrointestinal bleeder patients were treated endoscopically with Hemospray in 11 settings. In 5 patients previous endoscopic hemostatic methods failed and in the remaining 5 patients Hemospray was administrated as a first-line therapy. RESULTS Primary hemostasis was achieved in 9 of the 10 patients treated with Hemospray. Two patients died during hospitalization (uncontrolled arterial bleeding in one patient and hepatic encephalopathy in the other one patient). Primary hemostasis and hemodynamic stability were achieved in each of the 4 patients who had thrombopenia. CONCLUSIONS Hemospray as a rescue therapy may ensure primary hemostasis in severe acute gastrointestinal bleeding even in cases with thrombopenia.

Abstract
The present article investigated effects of systemic pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) treatment in monosodium glutamate (MSG)-induced retinal degeneration and neurobehavioral alterations in neonatal rats. It was found that the dose of PACAP that effectively enhances neurobehavioral development in normal rats was able to counteract the retarding effect of MSG on righting, forelimb placing, and grasp reflexes and caused a significant amelioration of the righting and gait reflex performance and motor coordination at 2 weeks of age. In the retina, significant amelioration of neuronal loss in the inner retinal layers was achieved, but it was much less than that observed by local administration.

Abstract
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) treatment of neonatal rats causes neuronal degeneration in various brain areas and leads to several neurochemical, endocrinological and behavioral alterations. However, relatively little is known about the development of neurological reflexes and motor coordination of these animals. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the neurobehavioral development of newborn rats treated with MSG. Rats received MSG at postnatal days 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Appearance of neural reflexes and reflex performance as well as motor coordination were examined for 5 weeks after birth. The efficacy of MSG treatment was confirmed by histological examination of the arcuate nucleus. We found that MSG treatment delayed the appearance of forelimb placing, forelimb grasp and righting reflexes, besides the retarded somatic development. The treated pups performed surface righting in significantly longer times. Also, worse performance was observed in the foot-fault and rota-rod tests. However, MSG-treated rats reached control levels by the end of the fifth postnatal week. These results show that MSG treatment does not cause permanent alterations in the neurobehavioral development, only delays the appearance of some reflexes and leads to temporary changes in reflex performance and motor coordination signs.

Abstract
Severe perinatal hypoxia-ischemia is an important cause of brain injury in both full-term and premature newborns, with a high risk of future behavioral and neurological deficits. The most commonly used animal model of neonatal hypoxia-ischemia is the unilateral ligation of the common carotid artery followed by exposure to hypoxia in 7-day-old rats. In spite of the wide use of this model, lot of contradictions and discrepancies exist between the results obtained by different laboratories regarding behavioral deficits and there are no data regarding the possible delay of the appearance of neurological reflexes and the time-course of reflex performances following neonatal hypoxic-ischemic injury in rats. In the present study we showed that neonatal hypoxia-ischemia retarded the development of somatic growth and several neurological reflexes (ear twitch, grasping, gait and negative geotaxis). Hypoxic animals also displayed retarded performance in righting, geotaxis and gait reflexes. Although hypoxic pups performed worse in most tests for motor coordination, they reached normal levels by 5 weeks of age except in the footfault test. In the open-field, hypoxic animals were generally more active, except at 3 weeks, when activity of normal pups increased enormously as well. Brain areas were significantly reduced in hypoxic animals, but no close correlation was found with behavioral deficits.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of nine electrical stunning methods using various frequency and voltage combinations on the occurrence of engorged blood vessels in goose liver. Two hundred seventy Gourmaud geese (liver-type line SI 14) were slaughtered at 12 wk of age, in groups of 90 at three different times. Thirty birds each were subjected to one of the nine stunning methods. Neck cutting was performed immediately after stunning. The duration of exsanguination was 11 min. After completion of bleeding, the birds were scalded, defeathered manually, and kept refrigerated. At 1 d postmortem, the carcasses were eviscerated and cut up. From the slaughterhouse, the livers chilled in ice were transported to the cannery where they were weighed and graded at 2 d postmortem and were further processed. All of the veins and capillaries full of blood were removed from livers, because their presence was a hazard to product quality by causing discoloration of the canned liver, and the percentage of liver weight loss was then determined. The loss in liver weight due to removal of engorged blood vessels was reduced (P < 0.05) at 350 Hz, 70 to 90 V, and 80 to 85 mA when compared to the results obtained with any other stunning method tested. It was concluded that the use of high-frequency currents for electrical stunning of liver geese might have considerable commercial advantages.

Abstract
The effects of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) have been studied on the gastric secretion and the serum level of immunoreactive gastrin in pylorus-ligated and antrectomized rats. It has been observed that: (1) a significant inhibition of gastric secretion (volume and acid output) was caused by PGE2, applied in doses of 75, 150 and 300 microgram/kg body weight, subcutaneously, in both pylorus-occluded and antrectomized rats: PGE2 inhibition of gastric secretion was more pronounced in rats with antrectomy; (2) no significant changes were found in the serum gastrin levels of both pylorus-ligated and antrectomized rats, and (3) no significant changes in serum levels of immunoreactive gastrin were produced by different doses of PGE2, in comparison with their marked inhibitory effects on gastric H+ secretion. It was concluded that there is no essential role of the immunoreactive gastrin, originated from the antral part of the stomach, neither in development of gastric hypersecretion nor in PGE2-produced inhibition on gastric secretion of the pylorus-occluded rats.
