Diastereoselective Aerial Oxidative Cyclization of Methylenebisnaphthols Catalyzed by N-Hydroxyimides in the Presence of Fe3+ and Co2+-Mn2+ Catalysts

Aerial oxidative cyclization of methylenebisnaphthols to their corresponding spirans has been carried out using catalytic amounts of N-hydroxyimides and FeCl3·6H2O or Co(OAc)2·4H2OMn( OAc)2·4H2O. In this article we focus on the use of FeCl3·6H2O as a highly green and sustainable catalyst.

Community's Educational Needs During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study

Background

Due to its unknown nature, multifaceted symptoms, and rapid spread, the coronavirus has become a public health emergency, leading to international concerns. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the community's educational needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Materials and Methods

This qualitative research was conducted between 2020 and 2021 using a conventional content analysis approach. The research sample comprised 340 recorded calls from individuals who contacted the emergency hotline of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences during the COVID-19 pandemic to express their concerns and anxieties. Sampling was conducted randomly and purposively until data saturation was achieved. Additionally, Graneheim and Lundman's approach was utilized for data analysis.

Results

After analyzing the interviews, codes related to the reasons for contact were presented in five main categories, including awareness of the nature of the disease, awareness of preventive methods, awareness of diagnostic methods, awareness of treatment methods, and awareness of caring for high-risk groups and 15 subcategories.

Conclusions

The results of this study highlighted various concerns regarding the coronavirus disease during pandemic conditions, which can serve as a foundation for appropriate educational and counseling programs based on community needs during future infectious pandemics.

Intervention based on the family health nurse model on the anthropometric and glycemic indicators of middle-aged prediabetics: Protocol for a randomized clinical trial (RCT)

BACKGROUND

Diabetes and prediabetes are some of the most prevalent and expensive diseases. The role and support of the family are some of the most helpful variables in managing and preventing diabetes and prediabetes. The aim of this study is to examine the intervention based on the family health nurse model on the anthropometric and glycemic indicators of middle-aged prediabetics.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

This randomized clinical trial study will be conducted from January to March 2024 in selected healthcare facilities in Isfahan City. Using a table of random numbers, 72 eligible people will be randomly selected from the intervention and control centers to participate in the study. After getting written consent, a list of the families' health-related issues, resources, and challenges will be gathered by visiting the clients' homes. Then, family health nurse model-based interventions are put into place for them. By carrying out the necessary tests, information will be gathered. Software called SPSS 26 will be used for data analysis.

CONCLUSION

Determining the effectiveness of the Family Health Nurse (FHN) model on the control and prevention of diabetes can offer a suitable framework for providing family-oriented services to middle-aged people with prediabetes and improving their health by considering social factors, such as family.
