Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), a respiratory pathogen with neuroinvasive potential. Neurological COVID-19 manifestations include loss of smell and taste, headache, dizziness, stroke, and potentially fatal encephalitis. Several studies found elevated proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6 IL-8, IL-10 IL-16, IL-17A, and IL-18 in severely and critically ill COVID-19 patients, which may persist even after apparent recovery from infection. Biomarker studies on CSF and plasma and serum from COVID-19 patients have also shown a high level of IL-6, intrathecal IgG, neurofilament light chain (NFL), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and tau protein. Emerging evidence on the matter has established the concept of COVID-19 associated neuroinflammation, in the context of COVID-19 associated cytokine storm. While the short-term implications of this condition are extensively documented, its long-term implications are yet to be understood. The association of the aforementioned cytokines with the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, may increase COVID-19 patients' risk to develop neurodegenerative diseases. Analysis of proinflammatory cytokines and CSF biomarkers in patients with COVID-19 can contribute to the early detection of the disease's exacerbation, monitoring the neurological implications of the disease and devising risk scales, and identifying treatment targets.

Abstract
Objective: India, a developing country, was hit hard by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, having reached the second position in the ranking of countries with the highest number of cases. Methods: After reaching the peak of the pandemic in September 2020, the daily number of new cases due to the disease inexplicably began to decrease, despite the relaxation and non-compliance with the restriction measures. However, since March 2021, there has been a steady increase in the number of cases reported, signaling a very devastating second wave. Results: The collapse of the Administration, collapsing of the health-care system, and insufficient vaccinations are the major causes of this condition. Understanding the factors involved and the sequence of events that led to the flattening of the contagion curve in India during the ending of 2020 is also essential, since it can helped guide the next steps in the fight against the virus. Conclusions: Contributing a greater percentage of gross domestic product toward health care seems to be the way to go as the ultimate strategy for curtailing the second wave. The advantages India has over the first wave, vaccines and a year of experience with the disease, should not be overlooked and used to its maximum in fighting against this pandemic.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has caused significant destruction, claiming over three million lives worldwide. Post SARS-COV-2 invasion, immunosuppression with hyperglycemia and elevated ferritin levels along with steroidal treatment creates a perfect storm for opportunistic infections. There is increasing evidence of mucormycosis co-infection in COVID-19 patients, during or post-treatment. A worse prognosis, a late diagnosis, and limited guidelines of screening and management of COVID-19 associated mucormycosis have made healthcare professionals fear an epidemic alongside a pandemic. This review geographically reports cases of COVID-19 associated mucormycosis (CAM), evaluates characteristics, clinical manifestations, and outcomes of mucormycosis in COVID-19 active or recovered patients. It further describes preventive strategies and recommendations for optimal management therapy that can be adopted worldwide to curtail an impending threat to the healthcare system.

Abstract
Over a span of 1 year, with millions infected, COVID-19 has spread to every part of the world and now poses a health threat to each and every one of us. The outbreak has consequently resulted in multiple health problems such as stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, insomnia, panic, and denial globally. Several factors have contributed to this rising number of psychiatric consults all over the world. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of Pakistani population during the second wave of the pandemic in this region. We conducted an online web-based cross-sectional survey comprising 500 participants. The questionnaire assessed the demographic information, attitude, and knowledge concerning COVID-19 outbreak in addition to generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) utilizing the GAD-7 scale and depressive symptoms using the Center for Epidemiology Scale for Depression (CES-D) scale. The response rate of the study was 90.9%. The results of the survey indicated a prevalence of 25.4% of GAD, and 18.8% of depressive symptoms. Furthermore, nearly 34.8% of participants feared contracting COVID-19, 62.8% obtained constant critical updates regarding COVID-19, while 17.6% did not understand the knowledge regarding COVID-19. In the multivariate regression models, GAD was significantly associated with gender, age, and checking constantly of critical updates regarding COVID-19. Similarly, participants under 30 years had a higher risk of developing depressive symptoms than those above (> 30 years). Lastly, participants with no formal education were also found to be more prone to developing depression. We identified a potential threat to mental health during the pandemic.

Abstract
The beginning of 2021 was marked by COVID-19 vaccination campaigns worldwide. The pace of production has been accelerated, in order to meet global needs and achieve the desired levels of immunization of the general population against COVID-19 within the year. Several debatable aspects of this endeavor, from logistics to health promotion have been addressed so far. However, the environmental repercussions of plastic syringes used for massive COVID-19 vaccinations are yet to be discussed. This article delves into the impact of the increasing medical waste, associated with massive COVID-19 vaccination on the environment, citing the practices followed and its possible solutions. The increasing production of nonbiodegradable materials is inevitably going to affect the world we live in. .Moreover, this article highlights the importance of developing sustainable methods of vaccination and disposal, providing examples and evidence based recommendations. Along with educating the unaware proportion of the population, there is a need to develop sustainable and recyclable products for a better tomorrow.

Abstract
Our retrospective immunohistochemical study of normal quadriceps muscle biopsies shows that embryonic myosin heavy chains are down-regulated by, or soon after, birth. Fetal myosin heavy chains are down-regulated by 4-6 months. Thus the presence of an appreciable number of fibres with embryonic myosin heavy chains at birth or of fetal myosin heavy chains after 6 months of age suggests a delay in maturation or an underlying abnormality. Regenerating fibres in dystrophic muscle often co-express both embryonic and fetal myosin heavy chains but more fibres with fetal than embryonic myosin heavy chains can occur. Embryonic myosin heavy chains are a useful marker of regeneration but effects of denervation, stress, disuse, and fibre maintenance also have to be taken into account. In neurogenic disorders fibres with embryonic myosin heavy chains are rare but fetal myosin heavy chain expression is common, particularly in 5q spinal muscle atrophy. Nuclear clumps in denervated muscle show fetal and sometimes embryonic myosin heavy chains. Developmentally regulated myosins are useful for highlighting the perifascicular atrophy in juvenile dermatomyositis. Our studies highlight the importance of baseline data for embryonic and fetal myosin heavy chains in human muscle biopsies and the importance of assessing them in a spectrum of neuromuscular disorders.

Abstract
Here we describe a patient with genetically confirmed ATTR, a family history of the disease and histological confirmation following carpal tunnel release surgery but no other manifestations. The first major neurological or systemic manifestation was cauda equina syndrome with ATTR deposits contributing to lumbar spinal stenosis. Recent gene therapy trials showed improvement in the neuropathy in TTR amyloidosis. This case highlights the need for awareness of the heterogeneous neurological phenotype seen in ATTR to aid earlier diagnosis especially now that disease modifying therapies are available.

Abstract
The diagnosis of CIDP can be challenging. In our cohort 52% were diagnosed as CIDP on re-evaluation. Cranial nerve abnormality is rare and may be only presenting symptom. Children require long-term follow up as the course may be protracted. With early treatment majority have good recovery and maintain ambulation.
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is a treatable chronic disorder of the peripheral nervous system. We retrospectively studied 30 children with a suspected diagnosis of CIDP. The diagnosis of CIDP was compared against the childhood CIDP revised diagnostic criteria 2000. Of the 30 children, five did not meet the criteria and four others met the criteria but subsequently had alternative diagnosis, leaving a total of 21 children (12 male) with CIDP as the final diagnosis. Thirteen children presented with chronic symptom-onset (>8 weeks). The majority presented with gait difficulties or pain in legs (n = 16). 12 children (57%) met the neurophysiological criteria and 18/19 (94%) met the cerebrospinal fluid criteria. Nerve biopsy was suggestive in 3/9 (33%), with magnetic resonance imaging supportive in 9/20 (45%). Twenty-one children received immuno-modulatory treatment at first presentation, of which majority (n = 19, 90%) received IVIG (immunoglobulin) monotherapy with 13 (68%) showing a good response. 8 children received second line treatment with either IVIG or steroids or plasmapharesis (PE) and 4 needed other immune-modulatory agents. During a median follow-up of 3.6 years, 9 (43%) had a monophasic course and 12 (57%) had a relapsing–remitting course. At last paediatric follow up 7 (33%) were off all treatment, 9 (43%) left with no or minimal residual disability and 6 (28%) children were walking with assistance (n = 3) or were non-ambulant (n = 3). Our review highlights challenges in the diagnosis and management of paediatric CIDP. It also confirms that certain metabolic disorders may mimic CIDP.

Abstract
Myopathies due to mutations in the skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor (RYR1) gene are amongst the most common non-dystrophic neuromuscular disorders and have been associated with both dominant and recessive inheritance. Several cases with apparently de novo dominant inheritance have been reported. Here we report two siblings with features of Central Core Disease (CCD) born to unaffected parents. Genetic testing revealed a heterozygous dominant RYR1 c.14582G>A (p. Arg4861His) mutation previously identified in other CCD pedigrees. The variant was absent in blood from the asymptomatic mother but detected at low but variable levels in blood- and saliva-derived DNA from the unaffected father, suggesting that this mutation has arisen as a paternal post-zygotic de novo event. These findings suggest that parental mosaicism should be considered in RYR1-related myopathies, and may provide one possible explanation for the marked intergenerational variability seen in some RYR1 pedigrees.

Abstract
In vitro experiments to investigate spontaneous polymerisation of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate when mixed with non ionic oily contrast medium are reported. The results suggest an interaction between the mixture components which is unique to one particular batch of Lipiodol Ultrafluid and Histoacryl n butyl cyanoacrylate. The interaction cannot be reproduced with other batches of Lipiodol Ultrafluid nor with an alternative preparation of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. Implications for the use of the materials in neuro-interventional practice are discussed.
