Abstract
Experimental results show that hosing of a long particle bunch in plasma can be induced by wakefields driven by a short, misaligned preceding bunch. Hosing develops in the plane of misalignment, self-modulation in the perpendicular plane, at frequencies close to the plasma electron frequency, and are reproducible. Development of hosing depends on misalignment direction, its growth on misalignment extent and on proton bunch charge. Results have the main characteristics of a theoretical model, are relevant to other plasma-based accelerators and represent the first characterization of hosing.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Among children younger than 18 years, the prevalence of long-term chronic diseases (LTDs) is not well known in France, nor the frequency of the use of healthcare services. This nationwide observational study focused on both topics over a 1-year period following the birth or birthday of French children in 2018 and compared the LTD status and use of healthcare. MATERIALS AND METHODS We selected children living in mainland France from the national health data system (SNDS). It includes data concerning the LTD status, which guarantees 100% reimbursement for related healthcare expenditures. We calculated the median and interquartile range (IQR) for the prevalence of LTDs and the rate of children using healthcare services at least once during the year. RESULTS We included 13.211 million children (51.2% boys), of whom 4% had at least one LTD (boys: 4.6%, girls: 3.3%). Mental and behavioral disorders were the most frequent cause (1.6%). At least one visit to a general practitioner (GP) or pediatrician was found for 88% of children (median: 3, IQR: 2-6): 98% for children under 1 year of age and 81% for children aged 14-17 years. A pediatrician was visited by 17% of children, another specialist by 39%, a dentist by 37%, with peaks of about 60% at the ages of 6, 9, and 12 years; 8% visited a nurse and 7% visited a physiotherapist. At least one emergency department visit was recorded for 24% of children (42% <1 year) and one short-stay hospitalization (SSH) for 9%. Regional variations were observed. Children with LTDs more frequently used all services, such as specialist visits (50% vs. 40%), ED visits (32% vs. 23%), SSHs (26% vs. 8% and 15% vs. 4.0% for one night or more), and psychiatric hospital admissions (5% vs. 0.1%). CONCLUSION Most children saw a GP or pediatrician during the year and children with an LTD showed more frequent use. Nevertheless, outpatient visits appeared to be underutilized with respect to recommendations or free-of-charge prevention visits, such as for dentists. More detailed studies are required to identify factors associated with the use of healthcare services in France, for example, studies including the deprivation index and regional variations.

Abstract
A long, narrow, relativistic charged particle bunch propagating in plasma is subject to the self-modulation (SM) instability. We show that SM of a proton bunch can be seeded by the wakefields driven by a preceding electron bunch. SM timing reproducibility and control are at the level of a small fraction of the modulation period. With this seeding method, we independently control the amplitude of the seed wakefields with the charge of the electron bunch and the growth rate of SM with the charge of the proton bunch. Seeding leads to larger growth of the wakefields than in the instability case.

Abstract
We use a relativistic ionization front to provide various initial transverse wakefield amplitudes for the self-modulation of a long proton bunch in plasma. We show experimentally that, with sufficient initial amplitude [≥(4.1±0.4) MV/m], the phase of the modulation along the bunch is reproducible from event to event, with 3%-7% (of 2π) rms variations all along the bunch. The phase is not reproducible for lower initial amplitudes. We observe the transition between these two regimes. Phase reproducibility is essential for deterministic external injection of particles to be accelerated.

Abstract
Compound biodegradability tests with natural microbial communities form an important keystone in the ecological assessment of chemicals. However, biodegradability tests are frequently limited by a singular focus either on the chemical and potential transformation products or on the individual microbial species degrading the compound. Here, we investigated a methodology to simultaneously analyze community compositional changes and biomass growth on dosed test compound from flow cytometry (FCM) data coupled to machine-learned cell type recognition. We quantified the growth of freshwater microbial communities on a range of carbon dosages of three readily biodegradable reference compounds, phenol, 1-octanol, and benzoate, in comparison to three fragrances, methyl jasmonate, myrcene, and musk xylene (as a nonbiodegradable control). Compound mass balances with between 0.1 to 10 mg C · liter-1 phenol or 1-octanol, inferred from cell numbers, parent compound analysis, and CO2 evolution, as well as use of 14C-labeled compounds, showed between 6 and 25% mg C · mg C-1 substrate incorporation into biomass within 2 to 4 days and 25 to 45% released as CO2 In contrast, similar dosage of methyl jasmonate and myrcene supported slower (4 to 10 days) and less (2.6 to 6.6% mg C · mg C-1 with 4.9 to 22% CO2) community growth. Community compositions inferred from machine-learned cell type recognition and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing showed substrate- and concentration-dependent changes, with visible enrichment of microbial subgroups already at 0.1 mg C · liter-1 phenol and 1-octanol. In general, community compositions were similar at the start and after the stationary phase of the microbial growth, except at the highest used substrate concentrations of 100 to 1,000 mg C · liter-1 Flow cytometry cell counting coupled to deconvolution of communities into subgroups is thus suitable to infer biodegradability of organic chemicals, permitting biomass balances and near-real-time assessment of relevant subgroup changes.IMPORTANCE The manifold effects of potentially toxic compounds on microbial communities are often difficult to discern. Some compounds may be transformed or completely degraded by few or multiple strains in the community, whereas others may present inhibitory effects. In this study, we benchmark a new method based on machine-learned microbial cell recognition to rapidly follow dynamic changes in aquatic communities. We further determine productive biodegradation upon dosing of a number of well-known readily biodegradable tester compounds at a variety of concentrations. Microbial community growth was quantified using flow cytometry, and the multiple cell parameters measured were used in parallel to deconvolute the community on the basis of similarity to previously standardized cell types. Biodegradation was further confirmed by chemical analysis, showing how distinct changes in specific populations correlate to degradation. The method holds great promise for near-real-time community composition changes and deduction of compound biodegradation in natural microbial communities.

Abstract
We study experimentally the effect of linear plasma density gradients on the self-modulation of a 400 GeV proton bunch. Results show that a positive or negative gradient increases or decreases the number of microbunches and the relative charge per microbunch observed after 10 m of plasma. The measured modulation frequency also increases or decreases. With the largest positive gradient we observe two frequencies in the modulation power spectrum. Results are consistent with changes in wakefields' phase velocity due to plasma density gradients adding to the slow wakefields' phase velocity during self-modulation growth predicted by linear theory.

Background
International benchmarking is a valued source of inspiration and learning for policy-makers to develop successful public health policies. Through comparison, the external coherence of one policy can be measured and its objectives redesigned. The French national health strategy (SNS) 2018-2022 comprises the French health policy framework focusing on four priority areas. The aim of this study was to conduct international benchmarking of current national health strategies to explore the external coherence of the SNS and evaluation methods.
Methods
A scoping review was conducted through available governmental and public health agencies' websites to survey national/federal health strategies in select high-income countries.
Strategical approaches, governance and policy duration were compared with four health priorities of the French SNS: prevention, social/territorial inequalities, quality of care, innovation. A descriptive analysis of these strategies' evaluation methods, including relevant indicators, was executed.
Results
Out of 18 countries selected, 11 have a current strategy akin to the four priorities of the French SNS, with a timeline stipulated to implement the policy. The strategies of Australia and Switzerland, out of nine countries with strategies covering these areas, bear the closest resemblance to the French SNS. Evaluation methods varied largely across countries.
Conclusions
The majority of countries contain a health strategy with a longer duration compared to the French SNS, irrespective of governance. Similar priorities were found for countries with a national health strategy, with other countries developing at least prevention plans. Most countries provided only partial evaluation methods or overall health target indicators, to be taken into account for the development of the French SNS evaluation plan
Key messages
International benchmarking is essential to identify best practices in health policy design. As a result, future French health strategies may benefit from a longer duration of implementation. If great efforts were put in place in France to build a strategy evaluation plan, other countries focused mostly on implementation reports or monitoring national health targets through indicators.

Abstract
Individual animals commonly adopt different stress coping styles that have been shown to impact reproductive success and differ between sexes (female/male) and origin (wild/hatchery). Hatchery reared Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) exhibit a behavioural reproductive dysfunction and a complete failure to spawn viable eggs. Hence, the present study examined whether 1) reproductive success of Senegalese sole was linked to coping styles and 2) behavioural differences exist in relation to sex or origin. A total of 198 breeders held in two research institutions were submitted to three individual tests (restraining, new environment and confinement) and one grouping test (risk taking). In addition, a blood sample to quantify cortisol, glucose and lactate levels was obtained from each individual after completing the individual tests. Senegalese sole breeders showed individual differences in behaviour across the different behavioural tests that were consistent with proactive and reactive coping styles traits. However, the most striking result was that reproductive success, sex and origin of Senegalese sole was not biased to any specific coping style. Indeed, the behavioural responses were similar and consistent between fish grouped by reproductive success, sex and origin. This study presented information that contrasts with different studies on dominant aggressive species and indicated that social non-aggressive species such as Senegalese sole follow a cooperative strategy that favours equal opportunities between stress coping styles and sexes. Therefore, results suggest that maintaining both coping styles strategies are fundamental for a sustainable breeder population approach.

Abstract
The role of cognitive factors in triggering the stress response is well established in humans and mammals (aka cognitive appraisal theory) but very seldom studied in other vertebrate taxa. Predictability is a key factor of the cognitive evaluation of stimuli. In this study, we tested the effects of stressor predictability on behavioral, physiological and neuromolecular responses in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). Groups of four fish were exposed to a predictable (signalled) or unpredictable (unsignalled) stressor. Stressor predictability elicited a lower behavioural response and reduced cortisol levels. Using the expression of immediate early genes (c-fos, egr-1, bdnf and npas4) as markers of neuronal activity, we monitored the activity of three sea bass brain regions known to be implicated in stressor appraisal: the dorsomedian telencephalon, Dm (putative homologue of the pallial amygdala); and the dorsal (Dld) and ventral (Dlv) subareas of the dorsolateral telencephalon (putative homologue of the hippocampus). The activity of both the Dm and Dlv significantly responded to stressor predictability, suggesting an evolutionarily conserved role of these two brain regions in information processing related to stressor appraisal. These results indicate that stressor predictability plays a key role in the activation of the stress response in a teleost fish, hence highlighting the role of cognitive processes in fish stress.

Abstract
In this article, we briefly summarize the experiments performed during the first run of the Advanced Wakefield Experiment, AWAKE, at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). The final goal of AWAKE Run 1 (2013-2018) was to demonstrate that 10-20 MeV electrons can be accelerated to GeV energies in a plasma wakefield driven by a highly relativistic self-modulated proton bunch. We describe the experiment, outline the measurement concept and present first results. Last, we outline our plans for the future. Abstract
Quantum light sources in solid-state systems are of major interest as a basic ingredient for integrated quantum photonic technologies. The ability to tailor quantum emitters via site-selective defect engineering is essential for realizing scalable architectures. However, a major difficulty is that defects need to be controllably positioned within the material. Here, we overcome this challenge by controllably irradiating monolayer MoS2 using a sub-nm focused helium ion beam to deterministically create defects. Subsequent encapsulation of the ion exposed MoS2 flake with high-quality hBN reveals spectrally narrow emission lines that produce photons in the visible spectral range. Based on ab-initio calculations we interpret these emission lines as stemming from the recombination of highly localized electron-hole complexes at defect states generated by the local helium ion exposure. Our approach to deterministically write optically active defect states in a single transition metal dichalcogenide layer provides a platform for realizing exotic many-body systems, including coupled single-photon sources and interacting exciton lattices that may allow the exploration of Hubbard physics.

Abstract
We give direct experimental evidence for the observation of the full transverse self-modulation of a long, relativistic proton bunch propagating through a dense plasma. The bunch exits the plasma with a periodic density modulation resulting from radial wakefield effects. We show that the modulation is seeded by a relativistic ionization front created using an intense laser pulse copropagating with the proton bunch. The modulation extends over the length of the proton bunch following the seed point. By varying the plasma density over one order of magnitude, we show that the modulation frequency scales with the expected dependence on the plasma density, i.e., it is equal to the plasma frequency, as expected from theory.

Abstract
We measure the effects of transverse wakefields driven by a relativistic proton bunch in plasma with densities of 2.1×10^{14} and 7.7×10^{14} electrons/cm^{3}. We show that these wakefields periodically defocus the proton bunch itself, consistently with the development of the seeded self-modulation process. We show that the defocusing increases both along the bunch and along the plasma by using time resolved and time-integrated measurements of the proton bunch transverse distribution. We evaluate the transverse wakefield amplitudes and show that they exceed their seed value (<15 MV/m) and reach over 300 MV/m. All these results confirm the development of the seeded self-modulation process, a necessary condition for external injection of low energy and acceleration of electrons to multi-GeV energy levels.

Abstract
Within the HiGHmed Project there are three medical use cases. The use cases include the scopes cardiology, oncology and infection. They serve to specify the requirements for the development and implementation of a local and federated platform, with the result that data from medical care and research should be retrievable, reusable and interchangeable. The Use Case Infection Control aims to establish an early detection of transmission events as well as clusters and outbreaks of various pathogens. Therefore the use case wants to establish the smart infection control system (SmICS).

Abstract
High-energy particle accelerators have been crucial in providing a deeper understanding of fundamental particles and the forces that govern their interactions. To increase the energy of the particles or to reduce the size of the accelerator, new acceleration schemes need to be developed. Plasma wakefield acceleration1–5, in which the electrons in a plasma are excited, leading to strong electric fields (so called ‘wakefields’), is one such promising acceleration technique. Experiments have shown that an intense laser pulse6–9 or electron bunch10,11 traversing a plasma can drive electric fields of tens of gigavolts per metre and above—well beyond those achieved in conventional radio-frequency accelerators (about 0.1 gigavolt per metre). However, the low stored energy of laser pulses and electron bunches means that multiple acceleration stages are needed to reach very high particle energies5,12. The use of proton bunches is compelling because they have the potential to drive wakefields and to accelerate electrons to high energy in a single acceleration stage13. Long, thin proton bunches can be used because they undergo a process called self-modulation14–16, a particle–plasma interaction that splits the bunch longitudinally into a series of high-density microbunches, which then act resonantly to create large wakefields. The Advanced Wakefield (AWAKE) experiment at CERN17–19 uses high-intensity proton bunches—in which each proton has an energy of 400 gigaelectronvolts, resulting in a total bunch energy of 19 kilojoules—to drive a wakefield in a ten-metre-long plasma. Electron bunches are then injected into this wakefield. Here we present measurements of electrons accelerated up to two gigaelectronvolts at the AWAKE experiment, in a demonstration of proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration. Measurements were conducted under various plasma conditions and the acceleration was found to be consistent and reliable. The potential for this scheme to produce very high-energy electron bunches in a single accelerating stage20 means that our results are an important step towards the development of future high-energy particle accelerators21,22. Electron acceleration to very high energies is achieved in a single step by injecting electrons into a ‘wake’ of charge created in a 10-metre-long plasma by speeding long proton bunches.

Abstract
Previous studies performed using polysaccharide-based matrices supplemented with hydroxyapatite (HA) particles showed their ability to form in subcutaneous and intramuscular sites a mineralized and osteoid tissue. Our objectives are to optimize the HA content in the matrix and to test the combination of HA with strontium (Sr-HA) to increase the matrix bioactivity. First, non-doped Sr-HA powders were combined to the matrix at three different ratios and were implanted subcutaneously for 2 and 4 weeks. Interestingly, matrices showed radiolucent properties before implantation. Quantitative analysis of micro-CT data evidenced a significant increase of mineralized tissue formed ectopically with time of implantation and allowed us to select the best ratio of HA to polysaccharides of 30% (w/w). Then, two Sr-substitution of 8% and 50% were incorporated in the HA powders (8Sr-HA and 50Sr-HA). Both Sr-HA were chemically characterized and dispersed in matrices. In vitro studies performed with human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) demonstrated the absence of cytotoxicity of the Sr-doped matrices whatever the amount of incorporated Sr. They also supported osteoblastic differentiation and activated the expression of one late osteoblastic marker involved in the mineralization process i.e. osteopontin. In vivo, subcutaneous implantation of these Sr-doped matrices induced osteoid tissue and blood vessels formation.

Abstract
The aim of this work was to characterize stress coping styles of Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) juveniles and breeders and to select an operational behavioural screening test (OBST) that can be used by the aquaculture industry to classify and select between behavioural phenotypes in order to improve production indicators. A total of 61 juveniles and 59 breeders were subjected to five individual behavioural tests and two grouping tests. At the end of the individual tests, all animals were blood sampled in order to measure cortisol, glucose and lactate. Three tests (restraining, new environment and confinement) characterized the stress coping style behaviour of Senegalese sole juveniles and breeders and demonstrated inter-individual consistency. Further, the tests when incorporated into a principal components analysis (PCA) (i) identified two principal axes of personality traits: 'fearfulness-reactivity' and 'activity-exploration', (ii) were representative of the physiological axis of stress coping style, and (iii) were validated by established group tests. This study proposed for the first time three individual coping style tests that reliably represented proactive and reactive personalities of Senegalese sole juveniles and breeders. In addition, the three proposed tests met some basic operational criteria (rapid testing, no special equipment and easy to apply and interpret) that could prove attractive for fish farmers to identify fish with a specific behaviour that gives advantages in the culture system and that could be used to establish selection-based breeding programmes to improve domestication and production.

Abstract
Common carp Cyprinus carpio displaying proactive or reactive stress coping styles were acclimated to two environmental regimes (low oxygen and low temperature), and selected groups were tested for response to an inflammatory challenge (Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide, LPS). Plasma glucose and lactate levels were measured, as were selected C. carpio-specific messenger (m)RNA transcript abundance, including cortisol receptor (CR), enolase (ENO), glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and interleukin-1-beta (IL1β) was measured in individual whole brain samples. Basal levels (in sham injected fish held in normoxic conditions at 25° C) of plasma lactate and glucose differed between coping styles, being significantly lower in proactive individuals. Both variables increased in response to LPS challenge, with the exception of plasma glucose in reactive fish held in hypoxia. Baseline levels of gene expression under control conditions were significantly different for GAPDH between behavioural phenotypes. The responses to experimental challenge were sometimes diametrically opposed between stress-coping styles in a transcript-specific manner. For CR and GAPDH, for example, the response to LPS injection in hypoxia were opposite between proactive and reactive animals. Proactive fish showed decreased CR and increased GAPDH, whereas reactive showed the opposite response. These results further highlight that screening for stress-coping styles prior to experiments in adaptive physiology can significantly affect the interpretation of data obtained. Further, this leads to a more finely tuned analytical output providing an improved understanding of variation in individual responses to both environmental and inflammatory challenge.

During the 2012/13 epidemic season in Spain, two A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses bearing the specific Y155H substitution in the NA were detected and isolated from two patients diagnosed with severe respiratory syndrome and pneumonia requiring admission to the intensive care unit. Contrary to what was observed in the seasonal A(H1N1) viruses, neither of the Y155H A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses described here showed a phenotype of reduced inhibition by NAIs as determined by the neuraminidase enzyme inhibition assay (MUNANA). High-throughput sequencing of the NA of both Y155H viruses showed that they were composed to >99% of H155 variants. We believe that this report can contribute to a better understanding of the biological significance of amino acid substitutions in the neuraminidase protein with regard to susceptibility of influenza viruses to neuraminidase inhibitors. This is of critical importance for optimal management of influenza disease patients.

Abstract
Resolving phenotype variation within a population in response to environmental perturbation is central to understanding biological adaptation. Relating meaningful adaptive changes at the level of the transcriptome requires the identification of processes that have a functional significance for the individual. This remains a major objective towards understanding the complex interactions between environmental demand and an individual's capacity to respond to such demands. The interpretation of such interactions and the significance of biological variation between individuals from the same or different populations remain a difficult and under-addressed question. Here, we provide evidence that variation in gene expression between individuals in a zebrafish population can be partially resolved by a priori screening for animal personality and accounts for >9% of observed variation in the brain transcriptome. Proactive and reactive individuals within a wild-type population exhibit consistent behavioural responses over time and context that relates to underlying differences in regulated gene networks and predicted protein-protein interactions. These differences can be mapped to distinct regions of the brain and provide a foundation towards understanding the coordination of underpinning adaptive molecular events within populations.

Abstract
Monepantel is a member of the recently identified class of anthelmintics known as the amino-acetonitrile derivatives (AADs). Monepantel controls all major gastro-intestinal nematodes in sheep including those that are resistant to the classical anthelmintics. Previous studies have shown that the Caenorhabditis elegans acr-23 and the Haemonchus contortus Hco-mptl-1 genes may be prominent targets of monepantel. With this discovery it became possible to investigate the mode of action of monepantel in nematodes at the molecular level. In the present study, we show that a C. elegans mutant acr-23 strain is fully rescued by expressing the wild-type acr-23 gene. Moreover, we present a new mutant allele, and characterize acr-23 alleles genetically. We also show that acr-23 is expressed in body wall muscle cells, and provide therefore a possible explanation for the paralysis caused by monepantel. Furthermore, genetic evidence suggests that the chaperone RIC-3 is required for expression of full monepantel resistance. Finally, we present reconstitution of the C. elegans ACR-23 receptor in Xenopus laevis oocytes and provide direct evidence of its modulation by monepantel. Conversely, co-injection of the chaperone RIC-3 had no impact for channel reconstitution in X. laevis oocytes. These results reinforce the involvement of the ACR-23 family in the mode of action of monepantel and advance our understanding of this new class of anthelmintics. Worldwide, sheep and cattle farming are endangered by anthelmintic-resistant gastro-intestinal nematodes. Monepantel, a member of the recently identified class of anthelmintics known as the amino-acetonitrile derivatives (AADs) exhibits excellent efficacy against various species of livestock-pathogenic nematodes and, more importantly, overcomes existing resistances to the currently available anthelmintics. Previous studies conducted with the non-parasitic model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans have found that acr-23 mutants are fully resistant to monepantel. In this study, we confirm the role of acr-23 as a primary target of monepantel by 1) restoring monepantel sensitivity in the presence of extrachromosomal copies of wild-type acr-23, 2) finding that ACR-23 is mainly expressed in muscle cells, and 3) showing that acr-23 forms a monepantel-sensitive channel in Xenopus oocytes.

Abstract
Post-transcriptional control regulates many aspects of germline development in the Caenorhabditis elegans hermaphrodite. This nematode switches from spermatogenesis to oogenesis and is, therefore, capable of self-fertilization. This sperm-oocyte switch requires 3' UTR-mediated repression of the fem-3 mRNA. Loss of fem-3 repression results in continuous spermatogenesis in hermaphrodites. Although several factors regulating fem-3 have been identified, little is known about the mechanisms that control fem-3. Here, we investigate the steady-state levels of the fem-3 transcript and the expression pattern of its protein product. We show that FEM-3 is exclusively present in germ cells that are committed to spermatogenesis. We found that in fem-3(gf)/+ heterozygotes, mutant fem-3 gain-of-function transcripts are more abundant than their wild-type counterpart. Furthermore, we show that the penetrance of the fem-3(gf) allele correlates with inefficient FBF binding and extended poly(A) tail size of fem-3 mRNAs. Finally, we show that wild-type and gain-of-function mutated fem-3 mRNAs associate equally well with polyribosomes. We propose that the fem-3 mRNA is regulated through stabilization rather than through translatability.

Abstract
Intestinal protozoan infections are a worldwide problem in both industrialised and unindustrialised countries; in the latter they may be the cause of significant morbidity and mortality. Children, in particular, are more likely to experience considerable morbidity. Most intestinal protozoan infections can cause acute or chronic diarrhoea in healthy individuals and may result in intractable, life-threatening illness in patients with immunosuppressive diseases such as AIDS. Adequate identification and treatment of these infections may provide significant benefit for individual patients and public health. This article presents an update on the pharmacotherapy currently available for amoebiasis, giardiasis and other intestinal protozoan infections.

The objective of this study was to determine the reasons for hospitalization for rehabilitation after knee arthroplasty, duration of stay and perioperative morbidity. The retrospective and descriptive study included 90 patients. The average age of patients was 74.5 years. A total of 84% of patients underwent primary arthroplasty and 16% secondary arthroplasty, with 7% undergoing bilateral arthroplasty. Of the patients, 88% displayed a comorbidity; 16% a deficit in flexion or extension. A total of 28% were dependents and 43% lived alone at home. Local adverse events occurred in 48% of the patients and general adverse events in 59%; deep venous thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism were the most frequently described events (15.5%). The duration of stay for rehabilitation was 8.8 days in surgery, and 19.9 days in a rehabilitation center. The mean duration of stay was the greatest for patients with bilateral arthroplasty, those with a serious complications and older patients. The factors that determine hospitalization for rehabilitation after knee arthroplasty include older age, with comorbidity held constant; bilateral or secondary arthroplasty; level of disability; degree of dependence; living alone at home; and complications. A short stay in surgery followed by a short stay in rehabilitation center is possible with a network management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nasal T/natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma is an aggressive type of non-Hodking's lymphoma associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and striking geographical variations worldwide. AIM To characterise nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma associated with genotypes of EBV in Chile, a Latin American country, where multiple strains of EBV, including two new recombinant strains, in healthy individuals were recently found. METHODS Cases with diagnosis of primary nasal lymphoma were selected for histological and immunohistochemical analysis (CD3, CD3e, CD4, CD8, CD79a, CD56, CD57 and TIA-1) and in-situ hybridisation, serology and genotyping analysis for EBV. RESULTS Out of 22 cases, 9 (41%) cases fulfilled the World Health Organization criteria for nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma; of these 7 (78%) cases were positive for EBV. Genotyping analysis revealed 6 cases of type 1 EBV and wildtype F at the BamHI-F region, 4 cases type "i" EBV at the BamHI-W1/I1 region; XhoI wild type was found in 2 and XhoI loss in 4 cases, respectively. Cosegregation analysis of the BamHI-W1/I1 region and XhoI restriction site showed the new recombinant strain type "i"/XhoI loss in 3 cases and type "i"/XhoI wild-type strain in 1 case. Most patients were treated with combined anthracycline-containing regimens. Half of the cases attained complete remission. CONCLUSION Although nasal NK/T-cell lymphomas from Chile share similar clinicopathological features, high association with EBV and unfavourable prognosis with those described elsewhere, genotype analysis shows that the new recombinant type "i"/XhoI loss strain might contribute to explain the intermediate incidence of nasal NK/T-cell lymphomas in Latin America.

Abstract
MOTIVATION PSORTb v.1.1 is the most precise bacterial localization prediction tool available. However, the program's predictive coverage and recall are low and the method is only applicable to Gram-negative bacteria. The goals of the present work are as follows: increase PSORTb's coverage while maintaining the existing precision level, expand it to include Gram-positive bacteria and then carry out a comparative analysis of localization. RESULTS An expanded database of proteins of known localization and new modules using frequent subsequence-based support vector machines was introduced into PSORTb v.2.0. The program attains a precision of 96% for Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and predictive coverage comparable to other tools for whole proteome analysis. We show that the proportion of proteins at each localization is remarkably consistent across species, even in species with varying proteome size. Abstract
This mini-review begins with a presentation of the hydrogen-bond in the context of other intermolecular recognition forces of significance in molecular biology and molecular pharmacology. This is followed by a survey of the various computational methods available to calculate the hydrogen-bonding capacity of compounds. Such methods use quantum mechanics, molecular mechanics, or algorithms based on experimental fragmental values. A recent and promising advance in the computation of H-bonding capacity is the development of specific molecular interaction fields (MIFs) known as molecular hydrogen-bonding potentials (MHBPs). Their interest in relating molecular properties to pharmacokinetic behaviour is highlighted with two examples, namely oral drug absorption and blood-brain barrier permeation.

Abstract
Hydrogen bonds are major forces of recognition in biochemistry and molecular pharmacology; they are an essential component of intermolecular interactions and determine to a significant extent the 3D-structure of bio-macromolecules. To explore three-dimensional H-bonding properties, a new tool called Molecular Hydrogen-Bonding Potentials (MHBPs) was created. The development of this tool is based on a stepwise procedure similar to the one used successfully to generate the Molecular Lipophilicity Potential (MLP). First, a H-bonding fragmental system was developed starting from published solvatochromic parameters. An atomic H-bonding donor fragmental value (alpha) is associated to each hydrogen atom in a polar moiety. Similarly, an atomic H-bonding acceptor fragmental value (beta) is associated to each polar atom. A distance function and an angle function were defined to take into account variations of the MHBPs in space. The fragmental system and the geometric functions were then combined to generate the MHBPs. These are calculated at each point of an adequate molecular surface or on a three-dimensional grid. The MHBPs were compared with GRID interactions energies and correlated with success to oral drug absorption data. Available examples demonstrate that the MHBPs are a promising computational tool in drug design. Their combination with CoMFA and VolSurf is being studied.

Abstract
Liquid dosage forms, generally based on aqueous solutions, take an important role in drug administration. The approaches to a theoretical description of solvent and solubility properties have not yet proved completely satisfying. In this work, the Debye equation, which describes well polar and nonpolar molecules in an ideal gas, is extended to liquids. For this purpose, the Debye equation was modified and the term (E(i)/E) was introduced (E(i)=internal electric field, E=applied external electric field). Pure polar and nonpolar solvents were measured between 290.7 and 343.2 K. The values of (E(i)/E) were compared with the correlation factor g of the Kirkwood-Fröhlich equation, a measure for molecular pair correlations. For polar solvents, the relationship E(i)/E=m(1/T)+b as a function of temperature T was found. Associating compounds showed negative values of (E(i)/E) with a strong temperature dependency; the latter can be expressed by the slope m. A correlation between the absolute value of m and the corresponding Hildebrand solubility parameter delta could be established. This new approach allows to describe polar hydrogen-bonding liquids and provides a tool for a more rational design of liquid dosage forms.
