Abstract
The medical data of 10 patients with undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) from the head and neck at Henan Cancer Hospital from January 2013 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 5 males and 5 females, aged (57.6±13.1) years. The lesions were located in the nasal cavity (one case), the paranasal sinuses (two cases), the parotid gland (one case), the nape (one case), the thyroid gland (one case), and the neck (four cases), respectively. Eight patients underwent surgical intervention, all of whom received adjuvant therapies, including post-surgery radiotherapy and chemotherapy. One patient declined treatment due to personal reasons, and another patient lost the opportunity for surgery and received chemotherapy instead. The follow-up period ranged from 1 to 128 months, with a median follow-up time of 31 (11, 101) months. During the follow-up period, there were a total of four deaths: two due to recurrence after surgery, one due to discontinuing treatment, and one due to severe illness that responded poorly to treatment. The remaining 6 patients who received surgery combined with radiotherapy or chemotherapy showed no recurrence. To sum up, UPS of the head and neck is rare, exhibits a high recurrence rate, and has a poor prognosis. Surgical resection combined with radiotherapy is an important treatment modality.

Abstract
Reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and reactive sulfur species (RSS) serve as vital mediators essential for preserving intracellular redox homeostasis within the human body, thereby possessing significant implications across physiological and pathological domains. Nevertheless, deviations from normal levels of ROS, RNS, and RSS disturb redox homeostasis, leading to detrimental consequences that compromise bodily integrity. This disruption is closely linked to the onset of various human diseases, thereby posing a substantial threat to human health and survival. Small-molecule fluorescent probes exhibit considerable potential as analytical instruments for the monitoring of ROS, RNS, and RSS due to their exceptional sensitivity and selectivity, operational simplicity, non-invasiveness, localization capabilities, and ability to facilitate in situ optical signal generation for real-time dynamic analyte monitoring. Due to their distinctive transition from their spirocyclic form (non-fluorescent) to their ring-opened form (fluorescent), along with their exceptional light stability, broad wavelength range, high fluorescence quantum yield, and high extinction coefficient, rhodamine fluorophores have been extensively employed in the development of fluorescent probes. This review primarily concentrates on the investigation of fluorescent probes utilizing rhodamine dyes for ROS, RNS, and RSS detection from the perspective of different response groups since 2016. The scope of this review encompasses the design of probe structures, elucidation of response mechanisms, and exploration of biological applications.

Abstract
Anti-tuberculosis drug-induced liver injury(ATB-DILI) is the most common adverse reaction during anti-tuberculosis therapy in tuberculosis patients. At present, the diagnosis of ATB-DILI is mainly based on traditional biomarkers such as transaminases, but these indicators have low specificity for liver toxicity, they cannot explain the mechanism of liver injury and the early onset of ATB-DILI. Based on the prediction of disease severity, treatment and prevention, this paper described the current potential biomarkers of ATB-DILI.

Abstract
Salicylic acid (SA) is one of the chemical molecules, involved in plant growth and immunity, thereby contributing to the control of pests and pathogens, and even applied in fruit and vegetable preservation. However, only a few tools have ever been designed or executed to understand the physiological processes induced by SA or its function in plant immunity and residue detection in food. Hence, three Rh6G-based fluorogenic chemosensors were synthesized to detect phytohormone SA based on the "OFF-ON" mechanism. The probes showed high selectivity, ultrafast response time (<60 s), and nanomolar detection limit for SA. Moreover, the probe possessed outstanding profiling that can be successfully used for SA imaging of callus and plants. Furthermore, the fluorescence pattern indicated that SA could occur in the distal transport in plants. These remarkable results contribute to improving our understanding of the multiple physiological and pathological processes involved in SA for plant disease diagnosis and for the development of immune activators. In addition, SA detection in some agricultural products used probes to extend the practical application because its use is prohibited in some countries and is harmful to SA-sensitized persons. Interestingly, the as-obtained test paper displayed that SA could be imaged by ultraviolet (UV) and was directly visible to the naked eye. Given the above outcomes, these probes could be used to monitor SA in vitro and in vivo, including, but not limited to, plant biology, food residue detection, and sewage detection.

Abstract
Salicylic acid (SA) is a key hormone that regulates plant growth and immunity, and understanding the physiologic processes induced by SA enables the development of highly pathogen-resistant crops. Here, we report the synthesis of three new SA-sensors (R1-R3) from hydroxyphenol derivatives of a rhodamine-acylhydrazone scaffold and their characterization by NMR and HRMS. Spectroscopic analyses revealed that structural variations in R1-R3 resulted in sensors with different sensitivities for SA. Sensor R2 (with the 3-hydroxyphenyl modification) outperformed R1 (2-hydroxyphenyl) and R3 (4-hydroxyphenyl). The SA-detection limit of R2 is 0.9 μM with an ultra-fast response time (<60 s). In addition, their plant imaging indicated that designed sensor R2 is useful for the further study of SA biology and the discovery and development of new inducers of plant immunity.

Abstract
Nowadays, reactive oxygen species (ROS) have been acknowledged as promising bactericidal targets against pesticide-resistant bacteria. Herein, to further excavate more excellent ROS inducers, simple 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline derivatives containing a 3-aminopropanamide moiety were prepared and assessed for their antibacterial potency. Notably, three promising compounds displayed significant antibacterial potency. Compound I29 exhibits excellent in vitro bioactivity, with an EC50 value of 5.73 μg/mL, and admirable in vivo activities (protective activity of 55.74% and curative activity of 65.50%) toward Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. Compound I16 has good activity in vitro, with an EC50 of 3.43 μg/mL, and outstanding bioactivities in vivo (protective activity of 92.50% and curative activity of 59.68%) against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri. Compound I6 shows excellent in vitro bioactivity (EC50 = 2.86 μg/mL) and significant protective activity (94.02%) for preventing Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae. Antibacterial mechanism investigations indicate that these compounds disrupt the balance of the redox system to kill bacteria. These simple 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline derivatives are promising leads to the discovery of bactericidal agents.

Abstract
Plant bacterial diseases are an intractable problem due to the fact that phytopathogens have acquired strong resistances for traditional pesticides, resulting in restricting the quality and yield of agricultural products around the world. To develop new agrochemical alternatives, we prepared a novel series of sulfanilamide derivatives containing piperidine fragments and assessed their antibacterial potency. The bioassay results revealed that most molecules displayed excellent in vitro antibacterial potency towards Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac). In particular, molecule C4 exhibited outstanding inhibitory activity toward Xoo with EC50 value of 2.02 µg mL-1, which was significantly better than those of the commercial agents bismerthiazol (EC50 = 42.38 µg mL-1) and thiodiazole copper (EC50 = 64.50 µg mL-1). A series of biochemical assays confirmed that compound C4 interacted with dihydropteroate synthase, and irreversibly damaged the cell membrane. In vivo assays showed that the molecule C4 presented acceptable curative and protection activities of 34.78% and 39.83%, respectively, at 200 µg mL-1, which were greater than those of thiodiazole and bismerthiazol. This study highlights the valuable insights for the excavation and development of new bactericides that can concurrently target dihydropteroate synthase and bacterial cell membranes.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the survival and prognosis of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients receiving standard first-line therapy. Methods: Data of clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with HL diagnosed in Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CHCAMS) from January 1st, 2000 to December 31st, 2018 who received standard first-line treatment were retrospectively analyzed and compared with that of HL patients who received treatment in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database in the United States during the same period. Factors associated with freedom from progression (FFP) of patients in CHCAMS were analyzed. Treatment and survival data of patients with relapsed/refractory HL (r/rHL) who had failed the standard first-line treatment during the corresponding period in CHCAMS were collected to analyze the outcomes of salvage therapy. Results: A total of 764 HL patients in CHCAMS were included in this study. The median age was 30 years (range, 14-83 years), with 424 males and 340 females. By February 26th, 2022, the patients were followed-up for a median time of 111 months(range, 0.3-262.0 months). Lymphoma-specific survival (LSS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate at 10 years for HL patients in CHCAMS was 91.7% (95%CI: 89.5%-93.9%) and 87.1% (95%CI: 84.5%-89.8%), respectively. LSS and OS rate at 10 years for HL patients from SEER database was 86.8% (95%CI: 86.3%-87.2%) and 79.0% (95%CI: 78.5%-79.5%), respectively. The unadjusted LSS and OS rate for patients in CHCAMS were higher than those for patients from SEER database (both P<0.001). No significant difference was observed in LSS and OS rate (both P>0.05) between the two groups after adjustment. European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer staging system (early-stage unfavorable: HR=2.35, 95%CI: 1.13-4.89, P=0.023; advanced stage: HR=5.44, 95%CI: 2.62-11.30, P<0.001) and serum β2 microglobulin (HR=1.67, 95%CI: 1.08-2.58, P=0.021) were influencing factors of FFP for patients in CHCAMS. The complete remission rate, median progression-free survival (PFS), 5-year PFS rate and 5-year OS rate for the 116 patients with r/rHL was 37.9% (95%CI: 29.6%-47.0%), 15.0 months (95%CI: 9.9-20.1 months), 29.9% (95%CI: 20.9%-38.9%) and 62.9% (95%CI: 54.1%-71.7%), respectively. Conclusions: The outcomes of HL patients receiving standard first-line treatment are excellent. However, the therapeutic effect of HL patients who incurrs disease progression or relapse after standard first-line treatment is not satisfying.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gradually aggravated disease caused by phytopathogenic bacteria severely restricts food security and crop yield, and few pesticides can relieve this severe situation. Thus, development and excavation of new agrochemicals with high bioactivity and novel action mechanism may be a feasible strategy to control intractable bacterial diseases. As a privileged molecular framework, steroid molecules exhibit diversiform bioactivities. Herein, a series of novel androst-4-ene derivatives were designed, synthesised and investigated for their antibacterial behaviour to excavate novel agrochemicals on the base of steroid molecules. RESULTS Bioassay results indicated that target compounds displayed high bioactivities toward three destructive phytopathogenic bacteria, including Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac) and Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa). Compound III19 displayed excellent in vitro antibacterial profiling (EC50 = 2.37 mg L-1 towards Xoo, EC50 = 2.10 mg L-1 towards Xac, EC50 = 9.50 mg L-1 towards Psa). Furthermore, compound III19 showed outstanding in vivo protective activities, with values of 81.81% and 58.75% towards kiwifruit bacterial canker and rice bacterial leaf blight, respectively. Analysis of the antibacterial mechanism disclosed that compound III19 enhanced host defence enzyme activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), polyphenol oxidase (PPO), and catalase (CAT) and increased the salicylate synthase content to induce host resistance. In addition, compound III19 increased the membrane permeability, destroyed the cell membrane and killed the bacteria. CONCLUSION Given these profiles of target compounds, we highlight a new strategy for controlling intractable plant bacterial diseases by inducing plant resistance and targeting the bacterial cell membrane. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) is a new technique that exhibits excellent efficacy, safety and predictability for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism. However, one potential limitation of this technique is that the centration during femtosecond laser cutting might be subject to the surgeon's experience and patient's cooperation. To achieve accurate centration in SMILE is the key to obtaining good postoperative visual outcomes. This review summarizes relevant research results and discusses the centration methods and the influencing factors in SMILE, so as to provide reference for clinical practice of SMILE.

Abstract
Developing multipurpose agricultural chemicals is appealing in crop protection, thus eventually realizing the reduction and efficient usage of pesticides. Herein, an array of versatile pyrazole hydrazide derivatives bearing a 1,3,4-oxadiazole core were initially synthesized and biologically evaluated the antifungal, antioomycetes, and antibacterial activities. In addition, the pyrazole ring was replaced by the correlative pyrrole, thiazole, and indole scaffolds to extend the molecular diversity. The results showed that most of these hybrid compounds were empowered with multifunctional bioactivities, which are exemplified by compounds a1-a6, b1-b3, b7, b10, b13, and b18. For the antifungal activity, the minimal EC50 values could afford 0.47 (a2), 1.05 (a2), 0.65 (a1), and 1.32 μg/mL (b3) against the corresponding fungi Gibberella zeae (G. z.), Fusarium oxysporum, Botryosphaeria dothidea, and Rhizoctonia solani. In vivo pot experiments against corn scab (caused by G. z.) revealed that the compound a2 was effective with protective and curative activities of 90.2 and 86.3% at 200 μg/mL, which was comparable to those of fungicides boscalid and fluopyram. Further molecular docking study and enzymatic activity analysis (IC50 = 3.21 μM, a2) indicated that target compounds were promising succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors. Additionally, compounds b2 and a4 yielded superior anti-oomycete and antibacterial activities toward Phytophora infestins and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae with EC50 values of 2.92 and 8.43 μg/mL, respectively. In vivo trials against rice bacterial blight provided the control efficiency within 51.2-55.3% (a4) at 200 μg/mL, which were better than that of bismerthiazol. Given their multipurpose characteristics, these structures should be positively explored as agricultural chemicals.

According to the pathological results, the patients were divided into DTC group (90 cases) and control group or benign thyroid nodules (BTN) group (50 cases). The DSB repair ability of peripheral blood T lymphocytes was measured by flow cytometry. The data of two groups were compared by Wilcoxon rank sum test to evaluate the relationship between DSB repair ability and the risk of DTC. According to the median repair ability of DSB in BTN group, the repair ability of DSB was divided into high and low categories, and the factors influencing the repair ability of DSB were analyzed by Logistic regression method. SPSS 22.0 software was used to analyze the data. Results: The DSB repair capacity was 27.87% in DTC group and 36.75% in BTN group, with significant difference (Z=-3.999,P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis suggested that patients with thyroid cancer had lower DSB repair capacity than patients without cancer (OR=2.245; 95%CI: 1.067-4.725; P=0.033), and patients with a history of radiation exposure had a reduced DSB repair capacity (OR=2.698; 95%CI: 1.271-5.725, P=0.010). Conclusion: The risk of DTC increases in patients with low DSB repair capacity. Radiation exposure is a risk factor for the reduction of DSB repair capacity.

Abstract
The metallic glasses (MGs) are conjectured to be heterogeneous—their microscopic structures are embedded with localized, soft and loosely packed atomic regions, which are termed as flow units (FUs). Detailed knowledges on the structure and dynamical features of FUs are essential for understanding the plasticity of MGs. In our study, by performing dynamical tests on MGs in molecular dynamics simulations, we show that mechanical hysteretic loops are formed in the strain-stress curves due to the undergoing plastic events. By analyzing the activated times of each atom in different dynamical tests, we map the exact locations of FUs and the distribution of their activation probability in the initial structure of MGs. More importantly, we demonstrate that the FUs are indeed liquid-like according to the Lindemann criterion of melting.

Abstract
Series of green laser diodes (LDs) with different (In)GaN barrier layers are investigated. It is found that the optical confinement factor of multi-quantum well (MQW) always increases with increasing indium content of InGaN barrier layer, which results in a decrease of threshold current when indium content of InGaN barrier layer increases from 0 to 5%. However, when a high In content InGaN barrier is used (> 5%), both threshold current and slop efficiency of LDs deteriorate. It may be attributed to the waste of carriers in the potential well at the interface between the last barrier (LB) and the upper waveguide (UWG) layers, which is induced by the piezoelectric polarization effect in high In content InGaN LB layer. Therefore, a new LD structure using a thin thickness of the LB layer to reduce the effect of polarization shows a low threshold current and a high output power even when the In content of barrier layers is as large as 7%.

Abstract
The optical power emitting from the cavity facet of blue InGaN-based laser diodes (LDs) is measured to investigate the efficiency droop. The efficiency droop behavior of blue InGaN-based LDs near the threshold is confirmed in our experiments. From measurements of optical power at different wavelengths, it is analyzed that the droop behavior of LDs can be ascribed to the efficiency reduction of longer wavelengths. The efficiency of longer wavelengths is subject to the carrier occupation process in quantum levels. In addition, it is found that the droop behavior may be largely affected by the relatively large threshold current of InGaN-based LDs and the screening effect of polarization, and it can be suppressed by stimulated emission.

Abstract
Meta-analyses have revealed many positive associations between gene variants and susceptibility to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, some of those positive results may be false positives. Therefore, we investigated the genetic polymorphisms associated with COPD risk and determined their diagnostic value. We extracted the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval for each polymorphism from published meta-analyses concerning gene variants and COPD susceptibility in October 2014, subsequently we calculated false-positive report probabilities (FPRPs) for statistically significant associations (P value < 0.05). We determined the diagnostic value of the true positive polymorphisms of COPD using the Meta-DiSc software. Twenty-five gene polymorphisms were significantly associated with COPD risk. The FPRP test results were as follows: 1) when the prior probability was 0.001 and the OR was 1.5, ADAM33 rs612709, CHRNA3/5 rs1051730, CHRNA3/5 rs8034191, CHRNA3/5 rs16969968, and TGFB1 rs1800470 were truly associated with COPD risk (FPRP < 0.2); 2) when the prior probability was 0.000001 and the OR was 1.5, all the variants except TGFB1 rs1800470 remained noteworthy; and 3) when the probability was 0.000001 and the OR was 1.2, ADAM33 rs612709 and CHRNA3/5 rs1051730 remained true positives. Unfortunately, the results of the diagnostic accuracy meta-analyses suggested that none of the variants had high value for COPD diagnosis.

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) during late gestation and lactation on sow and litter performance, fecal moisture, blood biochemistry parameters, immunoglobulin levels and milk composition in sows. Forty-eight sows (Yorkshire×Landrace, 4th to 5th parity) were randomly allocated to 1 of 4 dietary treatments supplemented with 0, 200, 400, or 600 mg/kg MgSO4 (n = 12). The experiment started on day 90 of gestation and continued through day 21 of lactation. Blood samples were collected on day 107 of gestation, day 0 (farrowing) and 21 (weaning) of lactation for the analyses of the blood biochemistry parameters and immunoglobulin levels. The colostrum and milk samples were obtained on day 0 and 14 of lactation, respectively. Fecal samples were collected from the sows on day 107 of gestation as well as day 7 and 20 of lactation to determine fecal moisture content. The results showed that the survival percentage of piglets and the litter weight at weaning were decreased linearly (p<0.05) and other parameters of the sow or litter performance were not influenced (p>0.05) by MgSO4 supplementation. The fecal moisture content of the sows were increased (p<0.05) linearly as dietary MgSO4 increased on day 7 and 20 of lactation. Supplementation with MgSO4 increased the plasma magnesium (Mg) level linearly (p<0.05) and had a trend to increase total protein level (p>0.05 and p<0.10). However, an increase in the dietary MgSO4 level resulted in a linear decrease in the colostrum fat content (p<0.05). Dietary MgSO4 supplementation enhanced the immunoglobulin G (IgG) level (linear, p<0.05) in plasma on day of farrowing and immunoglobulin A (IgA) level in colostrum (quadratic, p<0.05) and milk (linear, p<0.05) of the sows. These results indicated that supplementation with MgSO4 during late gestation and lactation may have the potential to prevent sow constipation, but may also result in some negative effects.

Abstract
A gene (iaaP) necessary for virulence and indoleacetic acid (IAA) production has been located on a nopaline Ti plasmid of Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58. iaaP function was established by using transformation to insert nopaline or octopine Ti plasmids into an avirulent, Ti plasmid-free mutant 1D1293-3 that was defective in IAA synthesis (iaaC(-)). The resulting transformants produced increased levels of IAA and virulence was restored. When these transformants were cured of their Ti plasmid, virulence and high IAA production levels were concomitantly lost. A Tn5 mutagenized TiC58 plasmid, deficient in the ability to direct increased synthesis of IAA, was inserted by transformation into mutant 1D1293-3. The resulting transformants 1D1293-3 (TiC58::Tn5) remained avirulent and iaaP(-). Restriction analysis of the TiC58::Tn5 plasmid DNA identified the iaaP gene at 20.9 kilobases to the left of the T-DNA. A major aromatic-amino-acid aminotransferase is coded by the iaaC gene, but not by the iaaP gene. The possible reasons for the iaaP locus to be situated outside the T-DNA region are discussed.

Abstract
Fusing antigens to cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) represents an effective approach to enhance DNA vaccine efficacy. It has been speculated that the direct targeting of CTLA-4 fusion antigens to antigen-presenting cells (APCs) causes antigens to be processed and presented to T cells more efficiently, leading to a stronger immune response. In the present study, dendritic cells (DCs), the most potent APCs, were generated from human monocytes. The specific binding of CTLA-4 fusion protein to DCs was investigated by flow cytometry. The results showed that the CTLA-4 fusion protein was capable of binding to the B7 molecules on human DCs with specificity.
