Liver protein and metabolite biolabels reveal hepatoprotective effects and active compounds of Eucommiae folium: Exploration of new application of herb based on multi-omics and bioinformatics. Abstract
A biolabel-led research based on multi-omics and bioinformatics was applied to analyze the application value of Eucommiae folium (EF) in liver cirrhosis, as well as the mechanism of action and material basis. Multi-omics were used to analyze the biolabels and key pathways of EF intervention in liver tissue. Subsequently, based on the information, bioinformatics was used to analyze the application value of EF in liver disease, as well the mechanism of action and material basis. Finally, histopathological and target expression analyses in an animal model were used to verify biolabels analysis results. Multi-omics showed that 18 proteins and 10 metabolites involved in five key pathways were screened as biolabels. Bioinformatics suggested that the application value of EF for liver cirrhosis may be the highest among the liver diseases that it may treat. Additionally, EF and five active compounds (curcumol, eucalyptol, (+)-catechin, naringenin, and quercetin) may protect the cirrhotic liver against the excessive energy expenditure and hepatic stellate cells activation through suppressing the oxidative phosphorylation pathway in a CCl4-induced mouse model. This study provides reference and evidence for the application value of EF in liver diseases, especially liver cirrhosis.

Sophora tonkinensis and active compounds inhibit mitochondrial impairments, inflammation, and LDLR deficiency in myocardial ischemia mice through regulating the vesicle-mediated transport pathway. Abstract
Ancient Chinese medicine literature and modern pharmacological studies show that Sophora tonkinensis Gagnep. (ST) has a protective effect on the heart. A biolabel research based on omics and bioinformatics and experimental validation were used to explore the application value of ST in the treatment of heart diseases. Therapeutic potential, mechanism of action, and material basis of ST in treating heart diseases were analyzed by proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and molecular docking. Cardioprotective effects and mechanisms of ST and active compounds were verified by echocardiography, HE and Masson staining, biochemical analysis, and ELISA in the isoproterenol hydrochloride-induced myocardial ischemia (MI) mice model. The biolabel research suggested that the therapeutic potential of ST for MI may be particularly significant among the heart diseases it may treat. In the isoprenaline hydrochloride-induced MI mice model, ST and its five active compounds (caffeic acid, gallic acid, betulinic acid, esculetin, and cinnamic acid) showed significant protective effects against echocardiographic changes and histopathological damages of the ischemic myocardial tissue. Meanwhile, they showed a tendency to correct mitochondrial structure and function damage and the abnormal expression of 12 biolables (DCTN1, DCTN3, and SCARB2, etc.) in the vesicle-mediated transport pathway, inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-10, etc.), and low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR). The biolabel research identifies a new application value of ST in the treatment of heart diseases. ST and its active compounds inhibit mitochondrial impairments, inflammation, and LDLR deficiency through regulating the vesicle-mediated transport pathway, thus achieving the purpose of treating MI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES A biolabel research based on multi-omics, informatics, molecular docking, and experimental verification was used to investigate the cardioprotective effect and pharmaceutically active compounds of Eucommiae Folium (EF). KEY FINDINGS Based on the biolabel research pattern, metabonomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics indicated that EF has a therapeutic potential for a variety of heart diseases, especially cardiomyopathy, and the most critical mechanism involved is the diabetic cardiomyopathy pathway. Bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and molecular docking showed that 24 EF compounds may play a therapeutic role in diabetic cardiomyopathy via this pathway. Among which, four compounds (kaempferol, esculetin, (+)-catechin, and astragalin) showed appropriate pharmacokinetic parameters and formed stable binding with biolabels in the pathway. In diabetic cardiomyopathy db/db mice, histopathological analysis, mitochondrial swelling and membrane potential assay, ELISA, and biochemical analysis demonstrated that EF and four active compounds had obvious hypoglycemic effects and attenuated myocardial damage and related pathological processes, such as mitochondrial dysfunction, calcium dyshomeostasis, insulin resistance, and oxidative stress. CONCLUSIONS This study provides new evidence and insights into the effect, mechanism, and material basis of EF in treating diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate and analyze the allocation status of oral health resources in Yunnan Province at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, providing a scientific basis for the rational resource allocation and formulation regional oral health plan for government health administrative departments. Methods: With the method of general survey, a cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the allocation of material and human resources of all kinds of stomatological medical institutions registered in the health administrative departments in Yunnan before January 1, 2020. The general situation of oral health resources was analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. Results: There were 2 712 stomatological medical institutions in Yunnan, 634 public and 2 078 non-public included. The largest number was in Kunming (1 167) and the least in Diqing (19). There were 9 018 dental chairs in total, among which 2 584 in public and 6 434 in non-public. Kunming had the largest number of chairs (3 612) and Nujiang had the least (57). There were 702 oral and maxillofacial surgical beds, all of which were distributed in public. There were 15 148 stomatological personnel, including 3 667 in public and 11 481 in non-public. The average ratio of stomatologist to population was 1∶6 615. Dehong (1∶6 620) was close to this average level, while Kunming (1∶2 283) and Yuxi (1∶4 936) were lower than the average and the other 13 states (cities) were higher. The population ratio of licensed stomatologist was only 1∶9 110. The average ratio of stomatologist to nurses was 1∶0.94. Honghe (1∶1.05), Kunming (1∶1.00), Yuxi (1∶1.18) and Qujing (1∶0.94) was better than or reached the average level, while the other 13 states (cities) were lower than this average. And this ratio in public comprehensive medical institutions was only 1∶0.38. Conclusions: The distribution of oral health resources in Yunnan was unbalanced between public and non-public institutions and among states (cities), mainly distributed in economically developed states (cities) and non-public institutions. For the oral health in Yunnan Province, the workforce was insufficient and the structure was unreasonable, and the proportion of nurses was seriously insufficient in public comprehensive medical institutions.

Abstract
Epilepsy is a chronic brain disease and often occurs suddenly for no reason. Eucommiae folium (EF), an edible herb, can be used in the treatment of various kinds of brain diseases in clinic. From the perspective of safety and efficacy, EF is especially suitable for the treatment of chronic brain diseases. With the help of biolabels, this study was aimed to explore the value and feasibility of EF in the treatment of epilepsy. Proteomics and metabolomics were used to explore the biolabels of EF intervention in brain tissues. Bioinformatics was then applied to topologically analyze its neuroprotective effects and mechanisms and material basis based on biolabels, which were validated in an animal model. The biolabel-led research revealed that EF may exert the therapeutic potential to treat brain diseases through the interaction between multiple compounds and multiple targets, among which its therapeutic potential for epilepsy is particularly prominent. In the pentylenetetrazole-induction model, EF and four active compounds (oleamide, catechol, chlorogenic acid, and kaempferol) protected epileptic hippocampal neurons (Nissl and FJB staining) against mitochondrial dysfunction (MYH6, MYL3, and MYBPC3, etc.) and calcium overload (TNNI3, TNNC1, and TNNT2, etc.) through the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy pathway. This study provides new evidence and insights for the neuroprotective effects of EF, in which four active compounds may be potential drug candidates for the treatment of epilepsy.

Abstract
Based on the biolabel research pattern, omics and network pharmacology were used for exploring the neuroprotection of Sophora tonkinensis (ST) in the treatment of brain diseases. Multi-omics were applied to investigate biolabels for ST intervention in brain tissue. Based on biolabels, the therapeutic potential, mechanism and material basis of ST for treating brain diseases were topologically analyzed by network pharmacology. A Parkinson's disease (PD) mouse model was used to validate biolabel analysis results. Four proteins and three metabolites were involved in two key pathways (alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism and arginine biosynthesis) and considered as biolabels. Network pharmacology showed that ST has the potential to treat some brain diseases, especially PD. Eight compounds (including caffeic acid, gallic acid and cinnamic acid) may serve as the material basis of ST treating brain diseases via the mediation of three biolabels. In the PD model, ST and its active compounds (caffeic acid and gallic acid) may protect dopaminergic neurons (maximum recovery rate for dopamine, 49.5%) from oxidative stress (E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase parkin, reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide, etc.) and neuroexcitatory toxicity (glutamate dehydrogenase, glutamine, glutamic acid, etc.). These findings indicated that omics and network pharmacology may contribute to the achievement of the objectives of this study based on the biolabel research pattern.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the survival and prognosis of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients receiving standard first-line therapy. Methods: Data of clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with HL diagnosed in Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CHCAMS) from January 1st, 2000 to December 31st, 2018 who received standard first-line treatment were retrospectively analyzed and compared with that of HL patients who received treatment in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database in the United States during the same period. Factors associated with freedom from progression (FFP) of patients in CHCAMS were analyzed. Treatment and survival data of patients with relapsed/refractory HL (r/rHL) who had failed the standard first-line treatment during the corresponding period in CHCAMS were collected to analyze the outcomes of salvage therapy. Results: A total of 764 HL patients in CHCAMS were included in this study. The median age was 30 years (range, 14-83 years), with 424 males and 340 females. By February 26th, 2022, the patients were followed-up for a median time of 111 months(range, 0.3-262.0 months). Lymphoma-specific survival (LSS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate at 10 years for HL patients in CHCAMS was 91.7% (95%CI: 89.5%-93.9%) and 87.1% (95%CI: 84.5%-89.8%), respectively. LSS and OS rate at 10 years for HL patients from SEER database was 86.8% (95%CI: 86.3%-87.2%) and 79.0% (95%CI: 78.5%-79.5%), respectively. The unadjusted LSS and OS rate for patients in CHCAMS were higher than those for patients from SEER database (both P<0.001). No significant difference was observed in LSS and OS rate (both P>0.05) between the two groups after adjustment. European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer staging system (early-stage unfavorable: HR=2.35, 95%CI: 1.13-4.89, P=0.023; advanced stage: HR=5.44, 95%CI: 2.62-11.30, P<0.001) and serum β2 microglobulin (HR=1.67, 95%CI: 1.08-2.58, P=0.021) were influencing factors of FFP for patients in CHCAMS. The complete remission rate, median progression-free survival (PFS), 5-year PFS rate and 5-year OS rate for the 116 patients with r/rHL was 37.9% (95%CI: 29.6%-47.0%), 15.0 months (95%CI: 9.9-20.1 months), 29.9% (95%CI: 20.9%-38.9%) and 62.9% (95%CI: 54.1%-71.7%), respectively. Conclusions: The outcomes of HL patients receiving standard first-line treatment are excellent. However, the therapeutic effect of HL patients who incurrs disease progression or relapse after standard first-line treatment is not satisfying.

Abstract
In traditional Chinese medicine, Herba Lysimachiae (HL) is mainly used to treat rheumatic arthralgia. Current pharmacological studies also showed that HL has therapeutic potential for synovial diseases. HL is an oral drug, whose compounds need to enter the blood circulation before reaching the injured tissue, thus potentially causing activity or toxicity to the blood system. In this study, the biolabel-led research pattern was used to analyze the serum profile after HL intervention, based on which the safety and efficacy of HL were explored. Metabonomics and proteomics were combined to analyze the biolabels responsible for the interventions of HL on serum. Bioinformatics databases were used to screen for the material basis that may interfere with biolabels. Omics analysis showed that differentially expressed 19 proteins and 5 metabolites were identified and considered as the potential biolabels, which were involved in 8 biochemical processes (platelet activation and aggregation, blood glucose release, immune and inflammatory regulation, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, tumor progression, blood pressure regulation, and uric acid synthesis). Thirty-one compounds may be the material basis to interfere with eleven biolabels. The present research reveals that the potential activities and toxicities of HL can be explored based on the biolabel-led research pattern.

[Transoral endoscopic resection of benign tumors in parapharyngeal space via medial pterygomandibular raphe approach]. Abstract
Objective: To explore the surgical methods and effects of transoral endoscopic resection of benign tumors in parapharyngeal space via medial pterygomandibular raphe approach. Methods: The clinical data of 23 patients who underwent resection of benign tumors in parapharyngeal space by endoscopic medial pterygomandibular raphe approach from January 2016 to July 2020 in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University were analyzed retrospectively. There were 14 males and 9 females with a median age of 43 years. The tumors were located in the anterior space of the styloid process in 13 cases and in the posterior space in 10 cases. The smallest tumor volume was 7.3 ml and the largest was 80.2 ml. The preoperative imaging features, the characteristics and risks of this approach in the operation were analyzed, and the feasible mode of operation was explored. Results: All patients completed the operation successfully. The intraoperative blood loss was 20 to 50 ml, with an average of 28.3 ml. The operation time was 40 to 110 min, with an average of 75.4 min. The incision length was 2 to 4 cm, with an average of 3.0 cm. The postoperative pain score was 2 to 4, with an average of 3.2. The postoperative hospital stay was 4 to 9 d, with an average of 6.7 d. Postoperative pathological diagnosis included pleomorphic adenoma (n=12), neurilemmoma (n=10) and basal cell adenoma (n=1). The patients were followed up for 6 to 60 months. There was no postoperative complication such as infection or serious bleeding, and there was no tumor recurrence after operation. Conclusion: Endoscopic resection of benign tumor in parapharyngeal space via medial pterygomandibular raphe approach is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive surgical method for the treatment of tumors in parapharyngeal space.

Abstract
Pathological scars cause both local physical discomforts and mental disorders for patients. With the development of research, botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) has been gradually used in the clinical treatment of scars. This article summarizes three potential mechanisms of BTX-A, including early tension reduction, inhibition of connective tissue hyperplasia, and alleviation of skin inflammation, as well as the clinical application of BTX-A in treating different types of scars. However, at present there is no uniform standard for the time, method, and proportioning of BTX-A injection for scar treatment, and there is also a lack of long-term follow-up results. Further researches are needed in future to clarify the mechanism of BTX-A in inhibiting scars, establish a uniform protocol of BTX-A injection, and provide a more effective treatment plan for scars.

Abstract
Herba Lysimachiae inhibits synovial damage in osteoarthritis via regulating two bio labels (integrin alpha 2b/beta 3). However, the relevant active ingredients are still unknown. Here, the active ingredients of herbal medicines were analyzed based on the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry technology and public bioinformatics platforms. The liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry technology was used for compound analysis, and public databases (PubChem BioAssay and STRING) were applied to establish the links between herbal compounds and both bio labels, and identify which herbal compounds may regulate these bio labels. Subsequently, the osteoarthritis model was used to confirm the results. Totally, ninety compounds in Herba Lysimachiae were identified based on the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry technology. Bioinformatics analysis showed that five compounds (myricetin, fisetin, esculetin, 7-hydroxycoumarin-4-acetic acid, and caffeic acid) may synergistically regulate bio labels through 11 targets, which may be the active ingredients of Herba Lysimachiae for osteoarthritis treatment. In the verification experiments, five compounds markedly suppressed the overexpression of bio labels in the synovium of the osteoarthritis model. In conclusion, the present study effectively and rapidly analyzed the active ingredients of Herba Lysimachiae for osteoarthritis treatment.

Abstract
The Christian missionaries preached through medicine by combining religious preaching with secularisation and social adaptiveness of medicine in the 19th century. They attempted to avoid the negative influence of culture differences between the West and China. Desjacques Marin, one of the missionaries in China, was entrusted by Benoit Edan, a French consul in Shanghai to establish a hospital in 1864, named the "General Hospital". This hospital was moved to the north bank of Suzhou Creek in 1877 and renamed as the Gongji Hospital. The hospital was designated by the Japanese Army in 1940 as a hospital for sick foreign prisoners in the war. It was taken over as an enemy property by the government of the Republic of China in 1945 and became a public hospital opened formally to Chinese patients. It was renamed as "Shanghai First People's Hospital" in 1953. Review of the historical changes of the missionary hospital is of significance for the study on Chinese medical history and medical communication between China and the West.

Abstract
The root and rhizome of Sophora tonkinensis Gagnep. (ST) are widely used for the treatment of tonsillitis, sore throats, and heat-evil-induced diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. However, the clinical application of ST is relatively limited due to its toxicity. The mechanism and material basis of ST-induced pulmonary toxicity are still unclear. In the present research, integrated omics and bioinformatics analyses were used to investigate the toxic mechanism and material basis of ST in lung tissue. Proteomics and metabonomics were integrated to analyze the differentially expressed proteins and metabolites. Joint pathway analysis was used to analyze the significantly dysregulated pathways. PubChem and the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database were applied for the screen of toxic targets and compounds. Integrated omics revealed that 323 proteins and 50 metabolites were differentially expressed after treating with ST, out of which 19 proteins and 1 metabolite were significantly enriched in seven pathways. Bioinformatics showed that 15 compounds may indirectly affect the expression of 9 toxic targets of ST. Multiple toxic targets of ST-induced pulmonary injury were found in the study, whose dysregulation may trigger pulmonary cancer, dyspnea, and oxidative stress. Multiple compounds may be the toxic material basis in response to these effects.

Abstract
Previous research has demonstrated that Herba Lysimachiae (HL) exerts the dual effects on platelet aggregation in the synovium, which may contribute to its protection against synovial lesions under different situations. However, the mechanism is unclear. In the present experiment, a biolabel research based on metabonomics was used to mine the information about the intervention of HL on synovium at the metabolite level, which may help to analyze the regulation of HL on synovial platelet aggregation and its possible treatment in synovial diseases. Synovial metabolic profiling was analyzed using a Shimadzu Nexera UHPLC LC-30A system and an AB SCIEX Triple TOF 4600 mass spectrometer. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to verify the biolabels analysis results in the healthy and osteoarthritis rats. Totally, thirteen common metabolites were differentially expressed after treating with HL, and implicated in 2 key pathways (arachidonic acid metabolism and glycerophospholipid metabolism). ELISA showed that HL regulated the expression of prostaglandins E1 and E2 in synovial tissues of the healthy and osteoarthritis rats. This study reveals that HL may regulate synovial platelet aggregation through prostaglandin E1/E2. Additionally, HL is suitable for treating synovial diseases, especially osteoarthritis, which may be associated with platelet aggregation, apoptosis, inflammation, angiogenesis, and carcinogenesis processes.

Abstract
In traditional Chinese medicine theory, Sophorae Tonkinensis radix et rhizome (ST) has the effects of treating tonsillitis, sore throats, and heat-evil-induced diseases. However, the utilization of ST is relatively restricted owing to its toxicity. The previous studies have made some progress on the mechanism and material basis of ST-induced hepatotoxicity, but there is still no significant breakthrough. In this study, integrated omics and bioinformatics analyses were used to investigate the mechanism and material basis of ST-induced hepatotoxicity. Integrated omics were used to analyze the differentially expressed proteins and metabolites, based on which the significantly dysregulated pathways were analyzed by using MetaboAnalyst. Bioinformatics was applied to screen the toxic targets and material basis. Integrated omics revealed that 254 proteins and 42 metabolites were differentially expressed after the treatment with ST, out of which 7 proteins were significantly enriched in 3 pathways. Bioinformatics showed that 20 compounds may interfere with the expression of 7 toxic targets of ST. Multiple toxic targets of ST-induced hepatotoxicity were found in the study, whose dysregulation may trigger hepatocyte necrosis/apoptosis, liver metastasis, and liver cirrhosis. Multiple compounds may be the toxic material basis in response to these effects.

Abstract
Sophora tonkinensis Gagnep. (ST) (Fabaceae) is distributed chiefly in south-central and southeast China and Vietnam. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, the root and rhizome of ST are toxic and mainly used in the treatment of pharyngeal and laryngeal diseases. Modern studies provide new insights into the pharmacological and toxicological aspects of ST. The pharmacological and toxicological properties of ST were reviewed in this paper based on the literature from Google Scholar and CNKI, and the bioinformatics platforms were applied to explore the pharmacological and toxicological potentials of ST. The results of the literature analysis showed that ST has hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, and anticancer effects and produces obvious toxicity to the liver and nervous and cardiovascular system. The results of bioinformatics showed that the compounds from ST may be applied to the treatment of cancer and digestive and nervous system diseases and show the possibility to cause hematotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and immunotoxicity. The present review demonstrates that attention should be paid to the potential toxicity of ST in the treatment of diseases and provides the reference for the subsequent pharmacological toxicological studies on the mechanism and chemical basis of ST.

Abstract
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration radio transients of unknown physical origin observed at extragalactic distances1-3. It has long been speculated that magnetars are the engine powering repeating bursts from FRB sources4-13, but no convincing evidence has been collected so far14. Recently, the Galactic magnetar SRG 1935+2154 entered an active phase by emitting intense soft γ-ray bursts15. One FRB-like event with two peaks (FRB 200428) and a luminosity slightly lower than the faintest extragalactic FRBs was detected from the source, in association with a soft γ-ray/hard-X-ray flare18-21. Here we report an eight-hour targeted radio observational campaign comprising four sessions and assisted by multi-wavelength (optical and hard-X-ray) data. During the third session, 29 soft-γ-ray repeater (SGR) bursts were detected in γ-ray energies. Throughout the observing period, we detected no single dispersed pulsed emission coincident with the arrivals of SGR bursts, but unfortunately we were not observing when the FRB was detected. The non-detection places a fluence upper limit that is eight orders of magnitude lower than the fluence of FRB 200428. Our results suggest that FRB-SGR burst associations are rare. FRBs may be highly relativistic and geometrically beamed, or FRB-like events associated with SGR bursts may have narrow spectra and characteristic frequencies outside the observed band. It is also possible that the physical conditions required to achieve coherent radiation in SGR bursts are difficult to satisfy, and that only under extreme conditions could an FRB be associated with an SGR burst.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the application of endoscopy and clinical effect of endoscopic resection of benign tumor in infratemporal fossa. Methods: The clinical data of 11 patients with benign tumors in infratemporal fossa admitted to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Skull Base Surgery of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from January 2016 to September 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 6 males and 5 females, with the age ranging from 11 to 63 years old. The main clinical manifestations were pharyngeal foreign body sensation, submaxillary pain, maxillofacial numbness and tongue numbness. Imaging examination showed that the tumor was round and had a clear boundary with the surrounding tissue. All the patients underwent endoscopic surgery. Appropriate surgical approach was selected according to the location of the tumor and its relationship with the internal carotid artery. The endoscopic surgical approaches included trans-oropharyngeal approach in 7 cases, trans-lateral pterygomandibular raphe approach in 1 case and trans-medial pterygomandibular raphe approach in 3 cases. The pathological results, prognosis, complications and relapse of patients were summarized through descriptive statistics. Results: The tumors were completely resected under endoscope in all patients, and there was no significant complication occurred after surgery. The average pain VAS score was 3.1 after surgery and average hospital stay was 5.9 d. The postoperative pathological diagnoses consisted of 6 cases of pleomorphic adenoma, 4 cases of neurilemmoma and 1 case of basal cell adenoma. All patients were followed up regularly from 6 to 39 months without recurrence of tumor. Conclusion: Endoscopic resection of benign tumors in infratemporal fossa has the advantages of minimal damage, rapid recovery, few complications, and definite curative effect, which can be used as an important alternative for surgical treatment of benign tumors.

Abstract
Several bioactive molecules isolated from the saliva of blood-sucking arthropods, such as mosquitoes, have been shown to exhibit potential anticoagulant function. We have previously identified a 30kDa allergen named Aegyptin-like protein (alALP), which is highly homologous to Aegyptin, from the salivary glands of female Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito). In this study, we identified the conserved functional domain of alALP by using bioinformatic tools, and expressed the His-tagged alALP recombinant protein in sf9 insect cells by generation and transfection of a baculoviral expression plasmid carrying the fulllength cDNA of alALP. We purified this recombinant protein and examined its function on the inhibition of blood coagulation. The results showed that the purified His-alALP prolonged the Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT), Prothrombin Time (PT) and Thrombin Time (TT) in vitro as well as the Bleeding Time (BT) in vivo, which suggest that alALP could be a novel anticoagulant.

Abstract
Objective:To summarize the common clinical types of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) rhinorrhea and key points of transnasal endoscopic repair of CSF rhinorrhea. To evaluate clinical effects. Method:In 29 patients with cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, 9 patients with traumatic CSF rhinorrhea, 10 patients with spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea, 7 patients with CSF rhinorrhea after tumour excision, and 3 patients with iatrogenic CSF rhinorrhea. All the 29 patients were treated with transnasal endoscopic repair of CSF rhinorrhea. Result:There were 25 patients were successfully repaired at one time. Three patients developed intracranial infection and 2 patient developed pneumocephalus after surgery, all of them were cured with conservative treatment. All the patients who were followed-up for more than half a year had no recurrence. Conclusion:Transnasal endoscopic repair of CSF rhinorrhea is safe and effective, the success rate of operation is high, it is not easy to recur, and the complications are few. It can be used as the first choice for repairing of CSF rhinorrhea and effective prevention measures. Accurate location of leak, appropriate repair, effective reconstruction of the skull base, continuous drainage of the lumbar cistern when necessary and active prevention of intracranial infection are critical to the success of operation.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the diagnostic performance of CT guided percutaneous lung biopsy (PTLB) with pathology, culture and rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) in patients with pulmonary infectious diseases. Methods: From January 2016 to June 2018, a retrospective study was implemented in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University. Patients who received PTLB, suspected with lung infection were included. The basic information, clinical symptoms, imaging findings, diagnostic methods, complications, and changes in treatment of cases were collected. The diagnostic sensitivity of histopathology, microbial culture, and ROSE were evaluated at the same time. Results: A total of 529 cases were enrolled, including 354 males and 175 females, (59±14) years old in average. Tuberculosis was identified in 197 cases, non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) pulmonary disease in 8, cryptococcosis in 95, pulmonary aspergillosis in 27, filamentous fungal pneumonia in 3, talaromyces marneffei pulmonary infection in 3 and pulmonary candidiasis in 1, bacterial pneumonia in 39, and pathogen were unknown in 156 cases. A total of 417 cases were submitted for histopathology and microbial culture at the same time, the diagnostic value of pathology and microbial culture were 35.0% (146/417) and 45.6% (190/417), respectively. Combined pathology with microbial culture, the diagnostic value increased to 62.8% (262/417). The diagnostic accuracy of ROSE was 51.8% (71/137). The most common complication of PTLB was pneumothorax 26.1% (138/529). 56.1% (297/529) of the patients received targeted treatment after the diagnosis was confirmed, and 43.9% (232/529) maintained the original treatment. Conclusion: The pathology, microbial culture, and ROSE of PTLB have relative high diagnostic value for pulmonary infectious diseases.

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic disease characterized by autoimmunity, joint inflammation, and cartilage destruction, which affects 0.5-1% of the population. Many compounds from herbal medicines show the potentials to treat RA. On this basis, the compounds with good pharmacokinetic behaviors and drug-likeness properties will be further studied and developed. Therefore, the herbal compounds with anti-RA activities were reviewed in this paper, and the cheminformatics tools were used to predict their drug-likeness properties and pharmacokinetic parameters. A total of 90 herbal compounds were analyzed, which were reported to be effective on RA models through anti-inflammation, chondroprotection, immunoregulation, antiangiogenesis, and antioxidation. Most of the herbal compounds have good drug-likeness properties. Most of the compounds can be an alternative and valuable source for anti-RA drug discovery.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical features of respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) in the nasal cavity. Methods: Clinical datas of 23 patients, who were hospitalized in Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, from February 2016 to February 2018 with histopathologically proved REAH in the nasal cavity were reviewed. There were 18 males and 5 females, with the age range from 16 to 71 years old. The most common area, main symptoms, surgical methods and follow-up results were analyzed. Results: The most common area was olfactory cleft (21 cases), and the mainly symptom was nasal congestion (18 cases). All the patients received transnasal endoscopic surgery and had no recurrence during following-up from three months to one year. Conclusions: The most common area of REAH in the nasal cavity is the olfactory cleft. Histopathological result is needed to make a definite diagnosis. Complete surgical resection is the main treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory mucosal lesion and systemic disease. In OLP, reticular type is the most common presentation of the disease. However, little is known about it. The aim of this study was to analyze the pathogenesis of reticular OLP and its possible associations with the pathological changes in other organ systems through serum-based metabolomics. METHODS Blood samples were obtained from 16 reticular OLP patients and 24 control subjects. Liquid chromatography (LC)-mass spectrometry (MS) system was used to identify differentially expressed metabolites. The pathways analysis was performed by MetaboAnalyst. Pathological network was constructed by Cytoscape software. RESULTS Totally, 31 modulated metabolites were identified, whose dysregulations affected 25 metabolic pathways and 7 pathological processes in the disease. Through an impact-value screen (impact-value>0.1), 6 pathways were selected as the significantly dysregulated pathways. Pathological network showed that these metabolites participated in 7 pathological processes, that is, apoptosis process, DNA damage and repair disorder, oxidative stress injury, carbohydrate metabolism disorder, mood dysfunction, inflammatory lesion, and other pathological process. CONCLUSION The study demonstrated that reticular OLP could cause the dysregulations of the metabolites in serum, which might be also further linked to other organ and systemic diseases through the blood system, such as diabetes, sleep disorders, and depression, etc.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory mucosal disorder and potentially oral premalignant lesion affecting the stratified squamous epithelia. In OLP, reticular type is the most common clinical form of the disease. However, little is known about it. Metabolomics analysis may help to investigate the disease pathogenesis and to improve clinical treatment. METHODS Liquid chromatography (LC)-mass spectrometry (MS) system, XCMS software, SIMCA software, and OSI / SMMS software were integrated to identify differentially expressed metabolites for the pathways and pathology analysis. RESULTS Totally, 21 modulated metabolites were identified, whose dysregulations affected 30 metabolic pathways. Through an impact-value screen (impact-value>0.1), 8 pathways were selected as the significantly dysregulated pathways. Pathological network showed that these metabolites participated in 5 pathological processes, that is, inflammatory lesion, DNA damage and repair disorder, apoptosis process, oxidative stress injury, and abnormal energy expenditure. CONCLUSION The study revealed the metabolic perturbation of oral mucosa in reticular OLP, which may provide an important reference for the understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease and the discovery of therapeutic targets.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the neuro-protective effects of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms (EAS) on mesencephalic mitochondria and the mechanism of action, using a mouse model of Parkinson's disease (PD). METHODS The chemical fingerprint analysis of the extract of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms (EAS) was performed using the ultra performance liquid chromatograph and time of flight mass spectrometry. Thirty mice were randomly divided into the control group, the MPTP model group, and the EAS treated group with MPTP (MPTP+EAS group, 10 in each group). The MPTP model group and the MPTP+EAS group received MPTP-HCl (30 mg/kg i.p) once a day for 5 days. The control group received an equal volume of saline (20 mL/kg i.p) once a day for 5 days. Induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyridine hydrochloride daily (MPTP-HCl, 30 mg/kg) for 5 days, the PD mice were treated with EAS at 45.5 mg/kg daily for 20 days. The behavioral testing of mice was carried out using the pole-climbing test. The integrity and functions of neurons were examined in mesencephalic mitochondria in a PD mouse model, including nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase ubiquinone flavoprotein 2 (NDUFV2), mitochondrially encoded nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase 1 (MT-ND1), succinate dehydrogenase complex subunit A (SDHA), and succinate dehydrogenase cytochrome b560 subunit (SDHC). RESULTS After treatment with EAS, the behavioral changes induced by MPTP were attenuated significantly (P<0.05). EAS protected the mesencephalic mitochondria from swelling and attenuated the decreases in their membrane potential (both P<0.05), which was supported by an ultra-structural level analysis. The changes in reactive oxygen species (ROS), malonic dialdehyde (MDA), oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) system 4 subunits levels and PD-related proteins expressions (parkin, Pink1, DJ-1, α-synuclein, and Lrrk2) reverted to near normal levels (all P<0.05), based on the results of immune-histological and Western blotting observations. CONCLUSIONS The neuro-protective effects of EAS are linked to protecting mice against MPTP-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and structural damage. Therefore, EAS is a promising candidate for the prevention or treatment of mitochondrial neurodegenerative disorders, such as PD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study was aimed to explore the chemical basis of the rhizomes and aerial parts of Dioscorea nipponica Makino (DN). METHODS The pharmacokinetic profiles of the compounds from DN were calculated via ACD/I-Lab and PreADMET program. Their potential therapeutic and toxicity targets were screened through the DrugBank's or T3DB's ChemQuery structure search. KEY FINDINGS Eleven of 48 compounds in the rhizomes and over half of the compounds in the aerial parts had moderate or good human oral bioavailability. Twenty-three of 48 compounds in the rhizomes and 40/43 compounds from the aerial parts had moderate or good permeability to intestinal cells. Forty-three of 48 compounds from the rhizomes and 18/43 compounds in the aerial parts bound weakly to the plasma proteins. Eleven of 48 compounds in the rhizomes and 36/43 compounds of the aerial parts might pass across the blood-brain barrier. Forty-three 48 compounds in the rhizomes and 18/43 compounds from the aerial parts showed low renal excretion ability. The compounds in the rhizomes possessed 391 potential therapeutic targets and 216 potential toxicity targets. Additionally, the compounds from the aerial parts possessed 101 potential therapeutic targets and 183 potential toxicity targets. CONCLUSIONS These findings indicated that combination of cheminformatics and bioinformatics may facilitate achieving the objectives of this study.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Ciwujia (CWJ), one of the most commonly used Chinese materia medicas (CMMs), is derived from the roots, rhizomes, and stems of Acanthopanax senticosus harms (AS). CWJ has been used for the treatment of various central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral system diseases. Drug-likeness prediction can help to analyze the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) processes of the compounds in CWJ, as well as their potential therapeutic and toxic effects, which is of significance in the confirmation of the active material bases of CWJ. MATERIALS AND METHODS The ADME properties of the compounds were calculated through web based PreADMET program and ACD/I-Lab 2.0. The potential therapeutic and toxicity targets of these compounds were screened by the ChemQuery tool in DrugBank and T3DB. RESULTS 14/39 compounds had moderate or good oral bioavailability (OB). 29/39 compounds bound weakly to the plasma proteins. 18/39 compounds might pass across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Most of these compounds showed low renal excretion ability. 25/39 compounds had 99 structurally similar drugs and 158 potential therapeutic targets. Additionally, 17/39 compounds had 53 structurally similar toxins and 126 potential toxicity targets. CONCLUSION Our study suggests that these compounds have a certain drug-likeness potentials, which are also likely to be the material bases of CWJ. These results may provide a reference for the safe use of CWJ and the expansion of its application scope.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic auto-inflammatory mucositis and potentially oral premalignant lesion. Erosive OLP patients display the higher canceration rate as compared to the patients with non-erosive OLP. Identification of the potential biomarkers associated with erosive OLP may help to investigate the disease pathogenesis and to improve clinical treatment. METHODS Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS) combined with pattern recognition approaches were integrated to acquire differentially expressed metabolites for the pathways analysis and elucidate mechanisms of disease. RESULTS Totally, 10 modulated metabolites were characterized as the potential biomarkers of erosive OLP, whose dysregulations could affect multiple metabolic pathways and pathological processes in the disease. CONCLUSION These findings indicated that the analysis of human serum metabolome might be conducive to the achievement of the objectives of this study.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Acanthopanax senticosus Harms (AS), also called "Ciwujia" in Chinese and "Siberian ginseng" in the Siberian Taiga region, is the herb used in traditional medicinal systems of China, Russia, Japan and Korea for the treatment of various nervous and cerebrovascular diseases. AIM OF THE STUDY Our pre-study has showed that AS can significantly suppress α-synuclein overexpression and toxicity. Neuronal protein α-synuclein is a key player in the development of neurodegenerative diseases called α-synucleinopathies. Identifying the potential biomarkers related to α-synucleinopathies may facilitate understanding the pathogenesis of the diseases and the safe application of AS in the clinic. METHODS AND RESULTS Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS) coupled with pattern recognition methods was integrated to examine the cerebral metabolic signature of human α-synuclein transgenic mice and the effects of AS on central nervous system (CNS) in pathology and physiology. Totally, 17 differentially expressed metabolites in wild type (WT) group and 26 in A30P mutant (A30P) group were identified and considered as potential biomarkers. Among them, 11 endogenous metabolites in WT+AS group and 18 in A30P+AS group were involved in the anti-α-synucleinopathies mechanism of AS. However, western blot and metabolomics analysis showed the effects of AS on CNS in physiology were opposite to those in pathology, which may cause potential neurotoxicity. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that endogenous metabolites perturbation was involved in the pathogenesis of α-synucleinopathies and AS produced the dual effects on pathological and physiological CNS.

Abstract
The thermoelectric properties of (GeTe)(x)(AgSbTe(2))(100-x) compounds (x = 75, 80, 85 and 90; TAGS-x) have been studied as a function of temperature from 300 to 720 K. At 720 K the dimensionless figure of merit ZT reaches the state-of-the-art value of 1.53 for TAGS-75 and 1.50 for TAGS-80 and TAGS-85 samples, respectively. But the ZT value of the TAGS-90 sample is only 0.50 at 720 K due to the high carrier concentration. Utilizing high-resolution transmission electron microscope and selected area electron diffraction techniques, we identify a considerable number of nanoscale domains with typical size ∼10 nm in the samples that show high ZT values. It is suggested that the presence of nanoscale domains, like the situation in PbTe-AgSbTe(2) compounds, should make a slight contribution to the low lattice thermal conductivity of TAGS compounds due to the enhanced mid-frequency phonon scattering.

Abstract
AIM To elucidate the pattern of 5-flucytosine (5-FC)-induced apoptosis and its role in gene therapy of human pancreatic cancer. METHODS The human pancreatic cancer SW1990 cells (CEA-producing) were infected with recombinant adenoviruses (Adex1CEA-prCD or Adex1CEA-prZ). Expression of CD gene protein was examined by western blot. Apoptosis induced by 5-FC in human pancreatic cancer SW1990 cells genetically modified to express cytosine deaminase was observed by means of electron microscopy, DNA electrophoresis, and flow cytometry analysis techniques. RESULTS The SW1990 cells infected with Adex1CEA-prCD were treated with 5-FC at 100 mumol.L-1 for 48 h, and cell apoptosis was observed. Typical apoptosis morphological feature appeared and DNA ladder could be demonstrated on DNA electrophoresis. Apoptosis peak was also showed by flow cytometry. Apoptotic cells accounted for 34.6% of the cell population. Cells in G1, S, and G2/M phase of cell cycle were 64%, 11%, and 7%, respectively. CONCLUSION The apoptosis induced by 5-FC may be a primary mechanism in CD gene therapy of pancreatic cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of the study was to investigate changes in lower extremity joint energy absorption for different landing heights and landing techniques. METHODS Nine healthy, active male subjects volunteered to perform step-off landings from three different heights (0.32 m, 2.5 m(-s); 0.62 m, 3.5 m(-s); and 1.03 m, 4.5 m(-s)) using three different landing techniques (soft, SFL; normal, NML; and stiff landing, STL). Each subject initially performed five NML trials at 0.62 m to serve as a baseline condition and subsequently executed five trials in each of the nine test conditions (3 heights x 3 techniques). RESULTS The results demonstrated general increases in peak ground reaction forces, peak joint moments, and powers with increases in landing height and stiffness. The mean eccentric work was 0.52, 0.74, and 0.87 J x kg(-1) by the ankle muscles, and 0.94, 1.31, and 2.15 J x kg(-1) by the hip extensors, at 0.32, 0.62, and 1.03 m, respectively. The average eccentric work performed by the knee extensors was 1.21, 1.63, and 2.26 J x kg(-1) for the same three heights. CONCLUSIONS The knee joint extensors were consistent contributors to energy dissipation. The ankle plantarflexors contributed more in the STL landings, whereas the hip extensors were greater contributors during the SFL landings. Also a shift from ankle to hip strategy was observed as landing height increased.

Abstract
We report the results from measuring the phase lag and coherence function of X-ray emission from black hole candidate XTE J1550-564. These temporal X-ray properties have been recognized to be increasingly important in providing important diagnostics of the dynamics of accretion flows around black holes. For XTE J1550-564, we found significant hard lag-the X-ray variability in high-energy bands lags behind that in low-energy bands-associated both with broadband variability and quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO). However, the situation is more complicated for the QPO: while hard lag was measured for the first harmonic of the signal, the fundamental component showed significant soft lag. Such behavior is remarkably similar to what was observed of microquasar GRS 1915+105. The phase lag evolved during the initial rising phase of the 1998 outburst. The magnitude of both the soft and hard lags of the QPO increases with X-ray flux, while the Fourier spectrum of the broadband lag varies significantly in shape. The coherence function is relatively high and roughly constant at low frequencies and begins to drop almost right after the first harmonic of the QPO. It is near unity at the beginning and decreases rapidly during the rising phase. Also observed is that the more widely separated the two energy bands are, the less the coherence function between the two. It is interesting that the coherence function increases significantly at the frequencies of the QPO and its harmonics. We discuss the implications of the results on the models proposed for black hole candidates.

Abstract
Modeling of the x-ray spectra of the Galactic superluminal jet sources GRS 1915+105 and GRO J1655-40 reveals a three-layered atmospheric structure in the inner region of their accretion disks. Above the cold and optically thick disk with a temperature of 0.2 to 0.5 kiloelectron volts, there is a warm layer with a temperature of 1.0 to 1.5 kiloelectron volts and an optical depth around 10. Sometimes there is also a much hotter, optically thin corona above the warm layer, with a temperature of 100 kiloelectron volts or higher and an optical depth around unity. The structural similarity between the accretion disks and the solar atmosphere suggests that similar physical processes may be operating in these different systems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the utility of sputum induction in the large-scale tuberculosis control program. METHODS Prospective study on sputum induction for improving the diagnostic yield of pulmonary tuberculosis, and estimation of the direct costs for sputum induction. RESULTS Of 1,648 tuberculosis suspects with poor or absent sputum production, induced sputum was smear-positive in 558 patients (353 previously smear-negative, 97 inadequate sputum and 108 unproductive). The direct cost per induced sputum was US $0.37. CONCLUSION Sputum induction is an effective, low-cost, and simple technique for improving the smear-positive case detection rate in a tuberculosis control program.
