JOURNAL OF ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY 2024; 331:118293. [PMID: 38705430 DOI: 10.1016/j.jep.2024.118293] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/11/2024] [Revised: 04/21/2024] [Accepted: 05/02/2024] [Indexed: 05/07/2024]
Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Da-Chai-Hu-Tang (DCHT), a Chinese traditional herbal compound, has been utilized for the treatment of Hepatic diseases in China for over 1800 years. The DCHT formula contains eight herbals: Bupleurum chinense DC. (chaihu), Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (huangqin), Paeonia lactiflora Pall. (baishao), Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Makino (banxia), Rheum officinale Baill. (dahuang), Citrus × aurantium L. (zhishi), Zingiber officinale Roscoe (shengjiang), Ziziphus jujuba Mill. (dazao). Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of DCHT in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its ability to enhance the immunity of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. A total of 20 Chinese articles have been published on the use of DCHT in treating HCC. AIM OF THE STUDY The study aimed to validate the effect of DCHT in HCC cells and to identify related targets (TP53, AKT1, BCL2, STAT3) in treating HCC by DCHT in vitro experiments. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cell proliferation and migration were investigated in vitro. Flow cytometry analysis was used to evaluate the cell cycle and apoptosis. Apoptotic bodies in HepG2 cells were observed using a confocal microscope. Biochemical detection was employed to analyze LDH release, MDA levels, and SOD levels. Bioinformatics analysis was used to predict core targets between DCHT and HCC, as well as potential signaling pathways. The protein levels of metastasis-associated, apoptosis, and PI3K, AKT, p-AKT, and STAT3 were further determined through Western blotting. RESULTS Following treatment with DCHT, the inhibition of viability, migration, and G2/M arrest was observed in HepG2 cells. Flow cytometry analysis and Morphological apoptosis studies provided evidence that DCHT could induce apoptosis in HepG2 cells. Biochemical detection revealed that DCHT could increase LDH release and the level of MDA, and inhibit the viability of the SOD. Bioinformatics analysis identified key targets such as TP53, AKT1, BCL2, STAT3. The PI3K/AKT/STAT3 signaling pathway emerged as a critical pathway in the KEGG enrichment analysis. Western blotting results indicated that DCHT could enhance the expression of E-cadherin, p53, and Bax, while reducing the content of N-cadherin, Bcl-2, PI3K, p-AKT, AKT1, and STAT3. CONCLUSIONS The results proved that DCHT could inhibit the progression and metastasis of HCC by regulating the expression of E-cadherin, N-cadherin, p53, Bax, Bcl-2, PI3K, p-AKT, AKT, and STAT3 through the PI3K/AKT/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Molecular characterization, antibacterial and immunoregulatory activities of liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide 2 in black rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii. FISH & SHELLFISH IMMUNOLOGY 2024; 147:109467. Abstract
LEAP2 (liver expression antimicrobial peptide 2), is an antimicrobial peptide widely found in vertebrates and mainly expressed in liver. LEAP2 plays a vital role in host innate immunity. In teleosts, a number of LEAP2 homologs have been reported, but their in vivo effects on host defense are still limited. In this study, a LEAP2 homolog (SsLEAP2) was identified from black rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii, and its structure, expression as well as biological functions were analyzed. The results showed that the open reading frame of SsLEAP2 is 300 bp, with a 5'- untranslated region (UTR) of 375 bp and a 3' - UTR of 238 bp. The deduced amino acid sequence of SsLEAP2 shares the highest overall identity (96.97%) with LEAP2 of Sebastes umbrosus. SsLEAP2 possesses conserved LEAP2 features, including a signal peptide sequence, a prodomain and a mature peptide, in which four well-conserved cysteines formed two intrachain disulphide domain. The expression of SsLEAP2 was highest in liver and could be induced by experimental infection with Listonella anguillarum, Edwardsiealla piscicida and Rock bream iridovirus C1 (RBIV-C1). Recombinant SsLEAP2 (rSsLEAP2) purified from Escherichia coli was able to bind with various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Further analysis showed that rSsLEAP2 could enhance the respiratory burst activity, and induce the expression of immune genes including interleukin 1-β (IL-1β) and serum amyloid A (SAA) in macrophages; additionally, rSsLEAP2 could also promote the proliferation and chemotactic of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs). In vivo experiments indicated that overexpression of SsLEAP2 could inhibit bacterial infection, and increase the expression level of immune genes including IL-1β, tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B (TNF13B) and haptoglobin (HP); conversely, knock down of SsLEAP2 promoted bacterial infection and decreased the expression level of above genes. Taken together, these results suggest that SsLEAP2 is a novel LEAP2 homolog that possesses apparent antibacterial activity and immunoregulatory property, thus plays a critical role in host defense against pathogens invasion.

Abstract
A fundamental understanding of the electroanalytical activity of transition metal sulfide electrocatalysts, especially the origin of the electrocatalytic reactivity on the surface sites of heterostructures with multiple crystalline phases, is essential for the design of low-cost and highly efficient nonprecious metal electrocatalysts for further scientific and technological achievements. Herein, we injected P into NiS and occupied the S sites through a doping strategy. The redistributed electronic structure induced the construction of heterostructures, which significantly improved the structure and chemical state of electrochemically inert NiS. The phase-change mechanism between NiS and NiS2 synergistically catalyzes Pb(II), while the P and S sites jointly lose electrons. Moreover, the constructed heterojunction sensor shows the a sensitivity of 83.43 μA μM-1 to Pb(II) with a theoretical limit of detection of 48 nM, as well as excellent stability, reproducibility, and anti-interference ability. The accurate detection in real water further reveals the potential of this sensor for practical applications. This study provides a guiding strategy for improving electrochemically inert materials to design highly active electrocatalytic interfaces, which has important implications for the development of highly efficient electrode-sensitive materials similar to precious metals to achieve accurate electrical analysis.

Modulating paired Ir-O-Ir via electronic perturbations of correlated Ir single atoms to overcome catalytic selectivity. Chem Sci 2023; 14:9678-9688. Abstract
Single-atom catalysts have been extensively utilized for electrocatalysis, in which electronic metal-support interactions are typically employed to stabilize single atoms. However, this neglects the metal-metal interactions of adjacent atoms, which are essential for the fine-tuning of selective sites. Herein, the high-loading of Ir single atoms (Ir SAs) (8.9 wt%) were adjacently accommodated into oxygen vacancy-rich Co3O4 nanosheets (Ir SAs/Co3O4). Electronic perturbations for both Ir single atoms and Co3O4 supports were observed under electronic metal-support and metal-metal interactions, thus generating Ir-O-Co/Ir units. Electrons were transferred from Co and Ir to O atoms, inducing the depletion of 3d/5d states in Co/Ir and the occupation of 2p states in O atoms to stabilize the Ir SAs. Moreover, the O atoms of Ir-O-Ir functioned as the main active sites for the electrocatalysis of As(iii), which reduced the energy barrier for the rate-determining step. This was due to the stronger electronic affinities for intermediates from reduction of As(iii), which were completely distinct from other coordinated O atoms of Co3O4 or IrO2. Consequently, the resultant Ir SAs/Co3O4 exhibited far more robust electrocatalytic activities than IrO2/Co3O4 and Co3O4 in the electrocatalysis of As(iii). Moreover, there was a strong orbital coupling effect between the coordinated O atoms of Ir SAs and the -OH of H3AsO3, thus exhibiting superior selectivity for As(iii) in contrast to other common heavy metal cations. This work offers useful insights into the rational design of intriguing SACs with high selectivity and stability for the electrocatalysis and electrochemical analysis of pollutants on an electronic level.

Identification, expression pattern and functional characterization of IFN-γ involved in activating JAK-STAT pathway in Sebastes schlegeli. FISH & SHELLFISH IMMUNOLOGY 2023; 140:108936. Abstract
IFN-γ (interferon gamma) is a critical cytokine in the immune system involved both directly and indirectly in antiviral activity, stimulation of bactericidal activity, antigen presentation and activation of macrophages via the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathway. The IFN-γ function is best described in cell defense against intracellular pathogens in mammals, but IFN-γ cytokine-induced metabolic change and its role in anti-infection remain unknown in teleost fish. In this study, a novel IFN-γ (SsIFN-γ) was identified from black rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli) by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The open reading frame (ORF) of SsIFN-γ encoded a putative protein of 215 amino acids and shares 60.2%-93.5% overall sequence identities with other teleost IFN-γ. SsIFN-γ was distributed ubiquitously in all the detected tissues and immune cells, which was highly expressed in the spleen, gills, head kidney by quantitative real-time PCR. The mRNA expression of SsIFN-γ was significantly upregulated in the spleen, head kidney, head kidney (HK) macrophages and peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) during pathogen infection. Meanwhile, the recombinant protein (rSsIFN-γ) exhibited an immunomodulatory function to enhance respiratory burst activity and nitric oxide response of HK macrophages. Furthermore, rSsIFN-γ could effectively upregulate the expression of macrophage proinflammatory cytokine, the expression of JAK-STAT signaling pathway related genes and interferon-related downstream genes in the head kidney and spleen. Luciferase assays showed ISRE and GAS activity were obviously enhanced after rSsIFN-γ treatment. These results indicated that SsIFN-γ possessed apparent immunoregulatory properties and played a role in fighting pathogen infection which will be helpful to further understanding of the immunologic mechanism of teleosts IFN-γ in innate immunity.

Abstract
Bacterial or viral infections, such as Brucella, mumps virus, herpes simplex virus, and Zika virus, destroy immune homeostasis of the testes, leading to spermatogenesis disorder and infertility. Of note, recent research shows that SARS-CoV-2 can infect male gonads and destroy Sertoli and Leydig cells, leading to male reproductive dysfunction. Due to the many side effects associated with antibiotic therapy, finding alternative treatments for inflammatory injury remains critical. Here, we found that Dmrt1 plays an important role in regulating testicular immune homeostasis. Knockdown of Dmrt1 in male mice inhibited spermatogenesis with a broad inflammatory response in seminiferous tubules and led to the loss of spermatogenic epithelial cells. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) revealed that Dmrt1 positively regulated the expression of Spry1, an inhibitory protein of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signaling pathway. Furthermore, immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry (IP-MS) and co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) analysis indicated that SPRY1 binds to nuclear factor kappa B1 (NF-κB1) to prevent nuclear translocation of p65, inhibit activation of NF-κB signaling, prevent excessive inflammatory reaction in the testis, and protect the integrity of the blood-testis barrier. In view of this newly identified Dmrt1- Spry1-NF-κB axis mechanism in the regulation of testicular immune homeostasis, our study opens new avenues for the prevention and treatment of male reproductive diseases in humans and livestock.

Abstract
As an effective and broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide, NK-Lysin is attracted more and more attention at present. However, the functions and action mechanism of NK-Lysin peptides are still not comprehensive enough at present. In this study, a sevenband grouper (Hyporthodus septemfasciatus) NK-Lysin peptide, NKHs27, was identified and synthesized, and its biological functions were studied. The results indicated that NKHs27 shares 44.44%∼88.89% overall sequence identities with other teleost NK-Lysin peptides. The following antibacterial activity assay exhibited that NKHs27 was active against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Listonella anguillarum, Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus. Additionally, NKHs27 showed a synergistic effect when it was combined with rifampicin or erythromycin. In the process of interaction with the L. anguillarum cells, NKHs27 changed the cell membrane permeability and retained its morphological integrity, then penetrated into the cytoplasm to act on genomic DNA or total RNA. Then, in vitro studies showed that NKHs27 could enhance the respiratory burst ability of macrophages and upregulate immune-related genes expression in it. Moreover, NKHs27 incubation improved the proliferation of peripheral blood leukocytes significantly. Finally, in vivo studies showed that administration of NKHs27 prior to bacterial infection significantly reduced pathogen dissemination and replication in tissues. In summary, these results provide new insights into the function of NK-Lysin peptides in teleost and support that NKHs27, as a novel broad-spectrum antibacterial peptide, has potential applications in aquaculture against pathogenic infections.

Coordination engineering strategy of iron single-atom catalysts boosts anti-Cu(II) interference detection of As(III) with a high sensitivity. JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2023; 442:130122. [PMID: 36303353 DOI: 10.1016/j.jhazmat.2022.130122] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 4.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/31/2022] [Revised: 09/23/2022] [Accepted: 10/02/2022] [Indexed: 06/16/2023]
Abstract
Mutual interference issues between heavy metal ions tremendously affect the detection reliability and accuracy in water quality analysis, especially the serious interference of Cu(II) on the detection of As(III) is greatly hard to overcome, which needs to be solved urgently. Herein, iron single-atom catalysts with different coordination structures of FeN2C2 and FeN3P are constructed to selectively catalyze the detection of As(III) in the coexistence of Cu(II). FeN3P achieves a high sensitivity of 3.90 µA ppb-1 toward As(III) in NH4Cl/NH3·H2O electrolyte (pH 8.0), completely avoiding Cu(II)-interference. Moreover, the turnover frequency (TOF) of FeN3P is an order of magnitude higher than that of FeN2C2. X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that an As-O bond of H3AsO3 is broken by the strong affinities between both P and O atoms and Fe and As atoms, and H3AsO3 are preferentially reduced by FeN3P during adsorptive process. Meanwhile, the low reaction energy barrier of the rate-determined step for As(III) reduction over FeN3P also accelerates the deposition of As(III) and enhances its response signals. The free-Cu(II) are difficult to adsorb on FeN3P and do not compete with As(III) for Fe active sites, which contributes to the excellent anti-Cu(II) interference capability.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The global spread of COVID-19 has prompted the development of vaccines. A recombinant adenovirus type-5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoV) developed by Chinese scientists has been authorized for use as a prime and booster dose in China and several other countries. AREAS COVERED We searched published articles as of 4 May 2023, on PubMed using keywords related to Adenovirus vector, vaccine, and SARS-CoV-2. We reported the progress and outcomes of Ad5-nCov, including vaccine efficacy, safety, immunogenicity based on pre-clinical trials, clinical trials, and real-world studies for primary and booster doses. EXPERT OPINION Ad5-nCoV is a significant advancement in Chinese vaccine development technology. Evidence from clinical trials and real-world studies has demonstrated well-tolerated, highly immunogenic, and efficacy of Ad5-nCoV in preventing severe/critical COVID-19. Aerosolized Ad5-nCoV, given via a novel route, could elicit mucosal immunity and improve the vaccine efficacy, enhance the production capacity and availability, and reduce the potential negative impact of preexisting antibodies. However, additional research is necessary to evaluate the long-term safety and immunogenicity of Ad5-nCoV, its efficacy against emerging variants, its effectiveness in a real-world context of hybrid immunity, and its cost-effectiveness, particularly with respect to aerosolized Ad5-nCoV.

JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2022; 435:129009. Abstract
Constructing catalysts with simple structures, uniform effective sites, and excellent performance is crucial for understanding the reaction mechanism of target pollutants. Herein, the single-atom catalyst of Mn-intercalated graphitic carbon nitride (Mn/g-C3N4) was prepared. It was found that the intercalated Mn atoms acted as strong electron donors to effectively tune the electronic structure distribution of the in-situ N atoms, providing a large number of negative potential atomic-scale sites for catalytic reactions. In the detection, the in-situ N atom established an electron bridge for the transient electrostatic trapping of free Pb(II), which induced Pb-N-Mn coordination bonding. Even in g-C3N4-loaded Mn nanoparticles, the N atom was again confirmed to be the interaction site for coupling with Pb. And the MnII-N4-C/MnIV-N4-C cycle actively participated in the electrocatalysis of Pb(II) was confirmed. Moreover, Mn/g-C3N4 achieved highly stable and accurate detection for Pb(II) with a sensitivity of 2714.47 µA·µM-1·cm-2. And excellent reproducibility and specific detection of real water samples made the electrode practical. This study contributes to understanding the changes in the electronic structure of chemically inert substrates after single-atom intercalation and the interaction between contaminants and the microstructure of sensitive materials, providing a guiding strategy for designing highly active electrocatalytic interfaces for accurate electroanalysis.

A better overall survival (OS) for total (ipsilateral) retroperitoneal lipectomy than standard complete resection in patients with retroperitoneal liposarcoma: a comparative multi-institutional study. ANNALS OF TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE 2022; 10:785. [PMID: 35965811 PMCID: PMC9372660 DOI: 10.21037/atm-22-3332] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 06/15/2022] [Accepted: 07/13/2022] [Indexed: 11/07/2022]
Abstract
Background Complete resection (CR) serves as the standard of surgical treatment for retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS). Unfortunately, even at referral centers, recurrence rates are high, and CR may not address multifocal diseases, which are a common phenomenon in RPLS. We sought to retrospectively compare the clinical outcomes of RPLS patients treated with total (ipsilateral) retroperitoneal lipectomy (TRL) and CR. Because TRL remove potentially multifocal tumors in the fat, patients may have a better prognosis than CR. Methods Patients with primary/first-recurrent RPLS who had been treated at 5 referral centers were recruited from December 2014 to June 2018. Multivariable Cox regression analyses were conducted to determine the effects of demographic, operative, and clinicopathological variables on the following primary endpoints: local recurrence (LR), local recurrence-free survival (LRFS), and overall survival (OS). Results A total of 134 patients were enrolled in this retrospective study, 53 of whom underwent TRL, and 81 of whom underwent CR. The 2 groups were comparable in terms of age, gender, presentation (primary vs. first-recurrent RPLS), number of tumors (unifocal vs. multifocal) at presentation, and Fédération Nationale des Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer (FNCLCC) grade. The TRL group had higher levels of preoperative hemoglobin (Hb) (13 vs. 12.5 g/dL; P=0.008) and a lower amount of intraoperative blood loss (400 vs. 500 mL; P=0.034), but there were no significant differences in the length of hospital stay (23 vs. 22 d; P=0.47) or complications (32 vs. 30; P=0.82) between the 2 groups. In a subset of patients with multifocal tumors at initial presentation, OS was more prolonged in those treated with TRL than those treated with CR (P=0.0272). Based on the multivariable analysis, primary liposarcoma and a low FNCLCC grade were associated with decreased LR and improved OS. Conclusions TRL is a safe procedure that positively affects the OS of patients with multifocal RPLS. This novel strategy deserves further investigation in prospective studies.

Abstract
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION There is a lack of guideline recommendations about the use of scalp cooling for preventing chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA). This overview was conducted to summarize effectiveness, safety, and tolerance of scalp cooling for CIA based on systematic reviews. LITERATURE SEARCH PubMed®, Embase®, Cochrane Library, and CNKI were searched from inception to May 15, 2021. DATA EVALUATION AMSTAR 2 was used to assess the methodologic quality. Qualitative and quantitative synthesis methods were used to identify the effectiveness, safety, and tolerance of scalp cooling. SYNTHESIS 14 systematic reviews were identified, and the quality assessment was poor. Scalp cooling has been considered to be effective for preventing chemotherapy-induced alopecia and has been confirmed in patients with breast cancer and other solid tumors. Most adverse effects were mild and moderate, and scalp cooling did not increase the risk of scalp metastases. IMPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH This overview could guide nurses to provide access to scalp cooling to reduce the risk of severe or total chemotherapy-induced alopecia for patients undergoing chemotherapy. The large-scale application of scalp cooling may be promoted by establishing reimbursement mechanisms and increasing available devices in the future.

Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and its influence on the distribution of lymph node metastasis at each lateral level of the neck to guide precise treatment of the lateral area. Methods The clinicopathological data of patients with PTC initially diagnosed and treated at our hospital from February 2014 to September 2021 were collected; the metastatic status of each lateral level was recorded, and correlations were analyzed. Results A total of 203 patients were enrolled in this study. There were 67 males and 136 females, with an average age of 41.1 years. In the lateral cervical area, lymph node metastasis was found at level IIa in 81 patients (39.9%); level III, 171 patients (84.2%); level IV, 122 patients (60%); and level Vb, 18 patients (8.9%). Correlation analysis showed that age (r = 0.198, P < 0.01) and sex (r = 0.196, P < 0.01) were weakly correlated with the number of positive lymph nodes in the central region. The tumor size (r = 0.164, P < 0.05) was weakly correlated with lymph node metastasis at level IV. The presence of multiple tumor foci was weakly correlated with lymph node metastasis at level IIa (r = 0.163, P < 0.05) and Vb (r = 0.143, P < 0.05). The tumor location (r = − 0.168, P < 0.05) was weakly correlated with lymph node metastasis at level III. The number of positive lymph nodes in the central region (r = 0.189, P < 0.01) was weakly correlated with lymph node metastasis at level IV. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of metastasis of multifocal tumors was higher than that of unifocal tumors by 1.958 times at level IIa (P = 0.021, OR = 1.958) and 2.929 times at level Vb (P = 0.049, OR = 2.929). The higher the tumor was located, the higher the risk of metastasis at level III (P = 0.014, OR = 0.563). Every additional positive lymph node in the central region increased the risk of metastasis at level IV by 1.126 times (P = 0.009, OR = 1.126). Conclusions For patients with pathological evidence of lateral metastasis, standard dissection of level IIa through Vb is recommended; selective dissection requires careful consideration. Patients with multifocal tumors have a high risk of metastasis at levels IIa and Vb, which requires special attention during the operation.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the difference between Z score and previous criteria in the diagnosis characteristics of coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) in Kawasaki disease, and to investigate the clinical distribution of Kawasaki disease CAA in the Z score group. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical and echocardiographic data of 2 419 children with Kawasaki disease in Shenzhen Children's Hospital from January 2009 to December 2019. The traditional criteria and Z score criteria were used to diagnose CAA, and the differences of diagnostic efficiency between the 2 diagnostic methods were analyzed. The clinical distribution characteristics of CAA in children with Kawasaki disease were analyzed by grouping their sex, clinical classification (complete Kawasaki disease, incomplete Kawasaki disease) the sensitivity to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) (IVIG-sensitive Kawasaki disease,IVIG-unresponsive Kawasaki disease). And the course of the disease (≤6 weeks, >6-8 weeks, >8 weeks to 6 months) etc. The χ² test or Kruskal-Wallis test was used for comparison between the groups, and the Kappa test was used for consistency evaluation. Results: Among the 2 419 children with Kawasaki disease, 1 558 were males and 861 were females. The age of onset was 1.8 (1.0, 3.2) years. The rate of CAA by Z score criteria was higher than that by traditional method (21.9% (529/2 419) vs. 13.9% (336/2 419), χ2=1 074.94, P<0.001). Compared to the traditional method, the Z score criteria found higher rate of CAA in male patients, patients with incomplete Kawasaki disease, and IVIG-unresponsive patients (25.2% (392/1 558) vs. 16.0% (249/1 558), (32.7% (166/507) vs. 19.5% (99/507), 30.5% (95/312) vs. 24.0% (75/312), χ2=694.05, 216.19, 184.37, all P<0.001). The Z score criteria was consistent with the traditional method in diagnosing CAA (κ=0.642,P<0.001). Moreover, in the Z score criteria, the rate of CAA in males (25.2%, 392/1 558) was higher than that in females (15.9%, 137/861), higher in incomplete Kawasaki cases (32.7%, 166/507) than that in complete Kawasaki case (19.0%, 363/1 912), and higher in IVIG-unresponsive cases (30.4%, 95/312) than that in IVIG-sensitive cases (20.6%, 434/2 107), with statistically significant differences (χ2=27.76, 44.38, 15.43, all P<0.001). Coronary Z score of course ≤ 6 weeks was greater than that of course between>6-8 weeks and >8 weeks to 6 months (1.3 (0.7, 2.3) vs. 0.7 (0.3, 1.4), 0.7 (0.3, 1.3), Z=20.65, 13.70, both P<0.001). Conclusions: The rate of CAA in Kawasaki disease by Z score criteria is higher than that by traditional method. In the Z score group, most CAA occur within 6 weeks of the course of the disease, and the rate of CAA in male, incomplete Kawasaki disease, and IVIG-unresponsive is higher.

Abstract
Objective: To detect the incidence and analyze the clinical significance of regions of homozygosity (ROH) through the single nucleotide polymorphism array (SNP array). Methods: The SNP array detection results of 5 116 pregnant women in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2016 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The pregnant women with ROH (5 Mb as the threshold) were followed up to analyze the relationship between ROH and abnormal fetal phenotype. Whole exon sequencing was performed in 4 cases of consanguineous marriage to detect potential recessive causative genes in the ROH region. Results: (1) A total of 39 cases of ROH were detected, with a positive rate of 0.76% (39/5 116). Among them, 25 cases (64%, 25/39) were detected only on single chromosome, and chromosome 11 had the highest detection rate, suggesting the risk of uniparental disomy; fourteen cases (36%,14/39) were detected on multiple chromosomes, most commonly on chromosomes 11, 1, 3, 4 and 8. (2) The number of cases and detection rate of ROH detected by different prenatal diagnosis indicators were as follows: 12 cases (1.78%, 12/676) in pregnant women with abnormal non-invasive prenatal testing result, 12 cases (0.37%, 12/3 284) in pregnant women with ultrasound abnormality, 4 cases (4/4) in pregnant women with consanguineous marriage, 3 cases (0.92%, 3/326) in pregnant women with previous adverse pregnancy, 2 cases (1.15%, 2/174) in pregnant women with high risk of serology in screening, 2 cases (4.00%, 2/50) in pregnant women with abnormal fetal chromosomal karyotype, 2 cases (0.79%, 2/253) in pregnant women with advanced maternal age, 1 case (0.56%, 1/178) in pregnant women with related parental genetic factors and 1 case (0.58%, 1/171) in pregnant women with the other factors. (3) The follow-up results of 39 cases of prenatal ROH showed that there were 16 cases of term birth, 15 cases of termination of pregnancy, 2 cases of preterm births, 1 case of fetal death and 5 cases lost to follow-up. Conclusions: Chromosomal ROH phenomenon is not rare. By analyzing the detection rate of ROH in prenatal diagnosis, combined with the results of fetal phenotype and postpartum follow-up, the clinical characteristics of ROH are discussed, so as to better understand the relationship between ROH and its phenotype.

Abstract
Natural killer lysin (NK-lysin) is a small molecule antimicrobial peptide secreted by natural killer cells and T lymphocytes. In this study, we characterized a cDNA sequence encoding an NK-lysin homologue (SsNKL1) from black rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii. The open reading frame (ORF) of SsNKL1 encodes a putative protein of 149 amino acids and shares 44%-87% overall sequence identities with other teleost NK-lysins. SsNKL1 possesses conserved NK-lysin family features, including a signal sequence and a surfactant-associated protein B (SapB) domain, sequence analysis revealed that SsNKL1 is most closely related to false kelpfish (Sebastiscus marmoratus) NK-lysin (with 87% sequence identity). SsNKL1 transcripts were detected in all the tested tissues, with the highest level in the kidney, followed by the spleen and gills. Upon Listonella anguillarum infection, the mRNA expression of SsNKL1 in the black rockfish was significantly up-regulated in the liver and kidney. The derived peptide SsNKLP27 from SsNKL1 was synthesized, and its biological function was studied. SsNKLP27 showed direct antibacterial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, L. anguillarum, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio alginolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus. SsNKLP27 treatment facilitated the bactericidal process of erythromycin by enhancing the permeability of the outer membrane. In the process of interaction with the target bacterial cells, SsNKLP27 changed the permeability and retained the morphological integrity of the cell membrane, then penetrated into the cytoplasm, and induced the degradation of genomic DNA and total RNA. In vivo studies showed that administration of SsNKLP27 before bacterial and viral infection significantly reduced the transmission and replication of pathogens in tissues. In vitro analysis showed that SsNKLP27 could enhance the respiratory burst ability and regulate the expression of some immune-related genes of macrophages. In summary, these results provided new insights into the function of NK-lysins in teleost fish and support that SsNKLP27 is a new broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide that has a potential application prospect in aquaculture against pathogenic infection.

Nitric oxide detection using principal component analysis spectral structure matching to the UV derivative spectrum. APPLIED OPTICS 2022; 61:262-272. Abstract
Ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy is widely applied in real-time environmental monitoring, especially in diesel vehicle nitrogen monoxide (NO) emissions. However, in field experiments, UV absorption spectrum may exist for different degrees of drifts. Spectral jitters may exist for various reasons such as optical power variation, electrical signal drift, and the refractive index jitters of the optical path for an extended period of time, which causes the detection system to be calibrated. And the pulse xenon lamps as the UV source are characterized by specific emission lines that interfere in spectral analysis directly. For these problems, we proposed the spectral structure matching method based on principal component analysis (PCA), which was compared with the conventional polynomial fitting method to observe feasibility and variability. Further, the UV derivative spectrum was applied to the system appropriately, due to the variation of the absorption peak, and was only related to the target gas by using the above method. We validated our method experimentally by performing the NO UV detection system with the calibration and the comparison test. The results suggested that the calibration relative error was less than 9% and the measurement relative error was less than 6% for this wide range by the proposed processes, which optimized the interference of spectral structures and fluctuation to the system and therefore provided better monitoring. This study may provide an alternative spectral analysis method that is unaffected on the specific emission lines of lamps and is not limited to the spectral region and the target gas.

Abstract
Abstract Objective To study the changes of metabolites in serum and tissues (kidney, liver and heart) of mice died of acute tetracaine poisoning by metabolomics, to search for potential biomarkers and related metabolic pathways, and to provide new ideas for the identification of cause of death and research on toxicological mechanism of acute tetracaine poisoning. Methods Forty ICR mice were randomly divided into control group and acute tetracaine poisoning death group. The model of death from acute poisoning was established by intraperitoneal injection of tetracaine, and the metabolic profile of serum and tissues of mice was obtained by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-Orbitrap HRMS). Multivariate statistical principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal partial least square-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) were used, combined with t-test and fold change to identify the differential metabolites associated with death from acute tetracaine poisoning. Results Compared with the control group, the metabolic profiles of serum and tissues in the mice from acute tetracaine poisoning death group were significantly different. Eleven differential metabolites were identified in serum, including xanthine, spermine, 3-hydroxybutylamine, etc.; twenty-five differential metabolites were identified in liver, including adenylate, adenosine, citric acid, etc.; twelve differential metabolites were identified in heart, including hypoxanthine, guanine, guanosine, etc; four differential metabolites were identified in kidney, including taurochenodeoxycholic acid, 11, 12-epoxyeicosatrienoic acid, dimethylethanolamine and indole. Acute tetracaine poisoning mainly affected purine metabolism, tricarboxylic acid cycle, as well as metabolism of alanine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid. Conclusion The differential metabolites in serum and tissues of mice died of acute tetracaine poisoning are expected to be candidate biomarkers for this cause of death. The results can provide research basis for the mechanism and identification of acute tetracaine poisoning.

Abstract
The measurement of the energy spectrum of cosmic ray helium nuclei from 70 GeV to 80 TeV using 4.5 years of data recorded by the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is reported in this work. A hardening of the spectrum is observed at an energy of about 1.3 TeV, similar to previous observations. In addition, a spectral softening at about 34 TeV is revealed for the first time with large statistics and well controlled systematic uncertainties, with an overall significance of 4.3σ. The DAMPE spectral measurements of both cosmic protons and helium nuclei suggest a particle charge dependent softening energy, although with current uncertainties a dependence on the number of nucleons cannot be ruled out.

Abstract
A novel zero-valent iron nanomaterial (Fe0@Fe2MnO4) was synthesized and achieved an ultrasensitive electrochemical detection of As(iii). It was found that the enhanced sensitivity is attributed to the surficial catalytic redox couple Fe(ii)/Fe(iii) induced by Fe0 of Fe0@Fe2MnO4. Besides, the catalytic kinetics was modelled and simulated, and the strong influence of the oxidation potential of the catalytic redox species on sensitivity was revealed. By tailoring the surficial atomic and electronic structures of the material, the redox potential can be altered, which can be used for controlling the electro-sensitivity and selectivity in electroanalysis.

Abstract
Heavy metal ions (HMIs) are one of the major environmental pollution problems currently faced. To monitor and control HMIs, rapid and reliable detection is required. Electrochemical analysis is one of the promising methods for on-site detection and monitoring due to high sensitivity, short response time, etc. Recently, nanometal oxides with special surface physicochemical properties have been widely used as electrode modifiers to enhance sensitivity and selectivity for HMIs detection. In this work, recent advances in the electrochemical detection of HMIs using nanometal oxides, which are attributed to specific crystal facets and phases, surficial defects and vacancies, and oxidation state cycle, are comprehensively summarized and discussed in aspects of synthesis, characterization, electroanalysis application, and mechanism. Moreover, the challenges and opportunities for the development and application of nanometal oxides with functional surface physicochemical properties in electrochemical determination of HMIs are presented.

Abstract
Several bioactive molecules isolated from the saliva of blood-sucking arthropods, such as mosquitoes, have been shown to exhibit potential anticoagulant function. We have previously identified a 30kDa allergen named Aegyptin-like protein (alALP), which is highly homologous to Aegyptin, from the salivary glands of female Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito). In this study, we identified the conserved functional domain of alALP by using bioinformatic tools, and expressed the His-tagged alALP recombinant protein in sf9 insect cells by generation and transfection of a baculoviral expression plasmid carrying the fulllength cDNA of alALP. We purified this recombinant protein and examined its function on the inhibition of blood coagulation. The results showed that the purified His-alALP prolonged the Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT), Prothrombin Time (PT) and Thrombin Time (TT) in vitro as well as the Bleeding Time (BT) in vivo, which suggest that alALP could be a novel anticoagulant.

Abstract
Metal hydroxide nanomaterials are widely applied in the energy and environment fields. The electrochemical performance of such materials is strongly dependent on their crystal phases. However, as there are always multiple factors relating to the phase-dependent electrochemistry, it is still difficult to identify the determining one. The well-defined crystal phases of α- and β-FeOOH nanorods are characterized through the transmission electron microscopy by a series of rotation toward one rod, where the cross-section shape and the growth direction along the [001] crystalline are first verified for 1D FeOOH nanostructures. The electrosensitivity of the two materials toward Pb(II) is tested, where α-FeOOH performs an outstanding sensitivity whilst it is only modest for β-FeOOH. Experiments via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS), etc., show that α-FeOOH presents a larger Pb(II) adsorption capacity due to more surficial hydroxyl groups and weaker PbO bond strength. The reaction kinetics are simulated and the adsorption capacity is found to be the determining factor for the distinct Pb(II) sensitivities. Combining experiment with simulation, this work reveals the physical insights of the phase-dependent electrochemistry for FeOOH and provides guidelines for the functional application of metal hydroxide nanomaterials.

Abstract
Heavy metal pollution from industrial wastewater is an important source. A method for heavy metals determination in industrial wastewater based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique was studied and the on-line monitoring system that used automatic graphite enrichment and spatial plasma confinement detection was developed and field demonstrated. The limits of detection (LOD) of heavy metal elements (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) could reach several μg/L. In Tongling, the on-line heavy metal monitor was field demonstrated. The calibration curves of copper and zinc were built on site, and then on-line monitoring was conducted. The measurement results of this monitor were compared with ICP-OES and had a good correlation. The results showed that the heavy metal monitor could be used for on-line detection of heavy metals in wastewater and had a good reliability.

Abstract
High-carbon martensite steels (with C > 0.5 wt.%) are very hard but at the same time as brittle as glass in as-quenched or low-temperature-tempered state. Such extreme brittleness, originating from a twin microstructure, has rendered these steels almost useless in martensite state. Therefore, for more than a century it has been a common knowledge that high-carbon martensitic steels are intrinsically brittle and thus are not expected to find any application in harsh loading conditions. Here we report that these brittle steels can be transformed into super-strong ones exhibiting a combination of ultrahigh strength and significant toughness, through a simple grain-refinement treatment, which refines the grain size to ~4 μm. As a result, an ultra-high tensile strength of 2.4~2.6 GPa, a significant elongation of 4~10% and a good fracture toughness (K1C) of 23.5~29.6 MPa m1/2 were obtained in high-carbon martensitic steels with 0.61–0.65 wt.% C. These properties are comparable with those of “the king of super-high-strength steels”—maraging steels, but achieved at merely 1/30~1/50 of the price. The drastic enhancement in mechanical properties is found to arise from a transition from the conventional twin microstructure to a dislocation one by grain refinement. Our finding may provide a new route to manufacturing super-strong steels in a simple and economic way.

Abstract
Successful spin injection into graphene makes it a competitive contender in the race to become a key material for quantum computation, or the spin-operation-based data processing and sensing. Engineering ferromagnetic metal (FM)/graphene heterojunctions is one of the most promising avenues to realise it, however, their interface magnetism remains an open question up to this day. In any proposed FM/graphene spintronic devices, the best opportunity for spin transport could only be achieved where no magnetic dead layer exists at the FM/graphene interface. Here we present a comprehensive study of the epitaxial Fe/graphene interface by means of X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The experiment has been performed using a specially designed FM1/FM2/graphene structure that to a large extent restores the realistic case of the proposed graphene-based transistors. We have quantitatively observed a reduced but still sizable magnetic moments of the epitaxial Fe ML on graphene, which is well resembled by simulations and can be attributed to the strong hybridization between the Fe 3dz2 and the C 2pz orbitals and the sp-orbital-like behavior of the Fe 3d electrons due to the presence of graphene.

Abstract
By means of field sampling and laboratory analysis, the content distribution characteristics of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in agricultural region soils of Huaihe basin in Anhui province were analyzed. Assessment of heavy metal pollutions was conducted using enrichment factor, geoaccumulation index and potential ecological risk index. The results showed that the average mass fraction of Cd and Cu was 0.113 5 and 22.09 mg x kg(-1) respectively in the study area soil, which were above the background values 0.097 and 20.4 mg x kg(-1) in Anhui Province. The average mass fraction of other four heavy metals did not exceed the average values of Anhui Province. The results of the evaluations from geoaccumulation index and ecological risk assessment discovered that Cd is the strongest pollution metal among six heavy metals in the study area soil. For some samples of the study soil, Cd was slight risk for the ecosystem. The ecosystem risks caused by the other five heavy metals were not obviously for the sampling points. The entire study area soils were mid integrated potential ecological risk.

Abstract
The present paper firstly denoises the signal with morphological method, selecting sine-shaped structure element, using the morphological difference in waveform between the three-dimensional fluorescence and noise signal, then singular value decomposition is applied to the denoised data, and finally the chemical rank is determinated jointing eigenvalues and eigenvectors form singular value decomposition. This paper principally discusses the theory basis of morphological filtering method, firstly simulated data is analysed by morphological filtering method to confirm the necessity and effectiveness of proposed method, then the feasibility and practicability of the proposed method is verified by the determination of components number of phenols mixture three-dimensional fluorescence spectra compared with traditional Monte Carlo method. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is able to estimate the chemical rank correctly.

Abstract
In this report, an atom efficient and facile synthetic strategy for accessing multi-diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based oligomers used in solution-processed organic field effect transistors (OFETs) and organic solar cells (OSCs) has been developed. The DPP units were successfully installed onto benzene and pyrene cores via palladium-catalyzed dehydrohalogenative coupling of mono-capped DPPs with multi-bromo-benzene or -pyrene (direct arylation), affording four oligomer small molecules (SMs 1-4) containing bis-, tri-, tri-, and tetra-DPP, respectively, in high yields of 78-96%. All the designed linear or branched DPP-based oligomers exhibit broad light absorptions, narrow band-gaps (1.60-1.73 eV), deep highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) levels (-5.26∼-5.18 eV), and good thermal stability (Td=390-401 °C). OFETs based on SMs 1-4 showed hole mobilities of 0.0033, 0.0056, 0.0005, and 0.0026 cm2 V(-1) s(-1), respectively. OSCs based on SMs 1-4 under one sun achieved power conversion efficiencies of 3.00%, 3.71%, 2.47%, and 1.86% accordingly, along with high open-circuit voltages of 0.86-0.94 V. For OSC devices of SM 1, SM 3, and SM 4, the solvent CHCl3 was solely employed to the formation of active layers; neither high boiling point additives nor annealing post-treatment was needed. Such a simple process benefits the large-scale production of OSCs via roll to roll technology.

Abstract
Chlorophyll concentration and photosynthesis activity fluorescence parameters of Chlorella pyrenoidosa stressed by different concentrations of Cd2+ were measured based on algal growth inhibition tests and photosynthetic activity inhibition tests. The relationship between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rate and 96 h inhibition rate of specific growth rate at different Cd2+ stress times was studied by sigmoidal curve fitting and one-way ANOVA analysis. The result shows that S function relevance exists between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rates for 48 h, 53 h, 72 h, 77 h and 96 h respectively and 96 h inhibition rate of specific growth rate (R2 > 0.95). Consequently, EC10 (10% effective concentration) after 48 h and 53 h inhibition in photosynthetic activity inhibition tests could be used to represented EC50 (50% effective concentration) in 96 h algal growth inhibition tests for evaluating the Cd2+ toxicity. Dose-response relationships between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rates after 48 h and 53 h inhibition and Cd2+ toxic equivalency quantity were further analyzed. The method provided a rapid and viable new thought to monitoring single Cd2+ toxicity in lab and early warn integrated toxicity of pollution in water.

Abstract
The one of the advantages about Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is multielement detection at the same time. In order to obtain the optimum signal in the multi-element measurements of water with LIBS, the present paper firstly models the numerical relationship between the signal-to-background ratio of characteristic spectral lines and the delay time and gate width time with BP neural network, using DM design experiment data as the checking sample to ensure the generalization ability of the BP neural network model. Based on the above model, genetic algorithm is used to optimize measurement parameters and the fitness function phi is defined. When the optimum delay time and gate width time is (15.5 micros, 21.5 micros), the minimum value of psi is 0.102 4. The optimization results of genetic algorithm are further confirmed with experimental results. So the method of parameters optimization overall improves S/B of multi-element measurements in water with LBS, and provides the reference for parameter optimization of other experiments.

Abstract
The present paper primarily tests and verifies the effect of NMF in blind source separation of three-dimensional simulative fluorescence spectra, and then four different computational algorithms (multiplicative iterative; alternating least square; second order method; projected gradient algorithm) were used in three practical phenolic compounds (cresol, phenol, thymol) overlapping fluorescence spectra to find out which nonnegatively constrained algorithms is the most efficient for fluorescence spectra unmixing. The experiments demonstrate that four ways have the normalized residuals below 0.06%, and alternating least square (ALS) is the best at both convergence behavior and robustness.

[Remote sensing of seasonal variation in column concentration of atmospheric CO2 and CH4 in Hefei]. GUANG PU XUE YU GUANG PU FEN XI = GUANG PU 2014; 34:587-591. Abstract
In order to observe two kinds of greenhouse gases, CO2 and CH4, making the biggest contribution to global warming, a ground-based Fourier transform near-infrared spectral remote sensing system was developed to record the perpendicular incidence sun spectra from February 2012 to April 2013 in Hefei continuously. The measured total transmittances in the atmosphere were obtained from perpendicular incidence sun spectra. Methods of line-by-line and low-order polynomial approximation were used to model the total atmospheric transmittances in forward model. The measured transmittance spectra were fitted iteratively using the modeled transmittance spectra in the regions of CO2 6,150-6,270 and CH4 5,970-6,170 cm(-1) in order to obtain their column concentrations. The column-average dry-air mole fractions of CO2 and CH4 were obtained with the internal standard function of O2 column concentrations. CO2 and CH4 daily average values of column-average dry-air mole fractions changed with a larger fluctuation and obvious seasonal periodicity. Their monthly average values were consistent as a whole, although there were different characteristics. Compared with the results reported by Japanese greenhouse-gas satellite in the area of Waliguan, there was a time lag corresponding to peak and trough of CO2 content and the change from peak to trough costed a longtime. CHR content showed variation tendency of unique peak and trough, higher in summer and lower in winter, compared with average values of nationwide CH4 column concentrations based on SCIAMACHY data. The variation characteristics were related to complex factors such as the balance of source and sink, meteorological and climate conditions, and required long-term observation and further study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Burn Specific Health Scale (BSHS) is designed to measure burn-specific, health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the abbreviated BSHS (BSHS-A). METHODS The English version of the BSHS-A was translated into Chinese using a standardised procedure. The participants were 457 patients classified into three severity groups (mild, moderate and severe). All patients completed the Chinese BSHS-A questionnaire, the Short Form-36 (SF-36) and the EuroQol 5-Dimensions (EQ-5D). To evaluate clinical utility of the BSHS-A, we used Cronbach's alpha (internal consistency), intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs; test-retest reliability) and construct validity (using the SF-36 and EQ-5D). RESULTS Cronbach's alpha for all subscales was >0.80, demonstrating high internal consistency of the BSHS-A (Chinese version). The ICC was >0.70 for each patient group. Strong correlations were observed between the BSHS-A and SF-36 and EQ-5D scales. Neither floor nor ceiling effects were found. CONCLUSION The present study demonstrated that the BSHS-A (Chinese version) has good psychometric properties, showing suitable internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The BSHS-A may, thus, be useful for assessing HRQoL in Chinese burn victims. However, adaptations may be required to reduce its length.

Abstract
Haze, rain and snow bring a lot of inconvenience in our daily life, especially produce serious potential safety hazard for night transport. In the present paper the authors propose the vision-based dual light sources visibility method to estimate night visibility. This method is significantly advantaged with wide range, high precision and low cost, and has a good robustness in many kinds of weather conditions. Firstly, the authors give the basic visibility estimation model under the atmosphere multiple scattering theory. Secondly, the authors propose the dual light sources method to remove the luminance fluctuations of light sources and the atmosphere light effect, and formulize the algorithm to accurately gain information of light sources from the dual light sources image. At last, the authors design the dual light sources system and conduct a long time experiments under various atmosphere conditions. The experiments show that, with the baseline of 35 m, the visibility range is up to 15 000 m, and relative error is below 20%. This method and system can satisfy the demand of meteorological department and transport agency.

Abstract
The development of spectroscopic techniques has offered continuous measurement of stable isotopes in the ambient air. The method of measuring environmental stable isotopes based on Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) is described. In order to verify the feasibility of the method for continuous measurement of the stable isotopes, an open-path FTIR system was used to measure stable isotopes of CO2 and H2O in ambient air directly in a seven-day field experiment, including 12CO2, 3CO2, H2 16O and HD16 O. Also, the time course of carbon isotopic ratio delta13 C and deuterium isotope composition deltaD was calculated. The measurement precision is about 1.08 per thousand for delta13 C and 1.32 per thousand for deltaD. The measured stable isotopes of CO2 and H2O were analyzed on different time scales by Keeling plot methods, and the deuterium isotopic ratios of evapotranspiration were determined. The results of the field experiment demonstrate the potential of the open-path FTIR system for continuous measurement of stable isotopes in the air.

Ferromagnetic interfacial interaction and the proximity effect in a Co2FeAl/(Ga,Mn)As bilayer. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2013; 111:027203. Abstract
The magnetic properties of a Co2FeAl/(Ga,Mn)As bilayer epitaxied on GaAs (001) are studied both experimentally and theoretically. Unlike the common antiferromagnetic interfacial interaction existing in most ferromagnet-magnetic semiconductor bilayers, a ferromagnetic interfacial interaction in the Co2FeAl/(Ga,Mn)As bilayer is observed from measurements of magnetic hysteresis and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism. The Mn ions in a 1.36 nm thick (Ga,Mn)As layer remain spin polarized up to 400 K due to the magnetic proximity effect. The minor loops of the Co2FeAl/(Ga,Mn)As bilayer shift with a small ferromagnetic interaction field of +24 Oe and -23 Oe at 15 K. The observed ferromagnetic interfacial coupling is supported by ab initio density functional calculations. These findings may provide a viable pathway for designing room-temperature semiconductor spintronic devices through magnetic proximity effect.

Abstract
Spectrofluorometry of chlorella pyrenoidosa was studied by three dimensional excitation-emission (3DEEM) fluorescence spectroscopy and synchronous scan fluorescence spectroscopy with Delta gamma = 20 nm in the stress of Hg+, Cd2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+. The conclusion from two kinds of Spectrofluorometry was the same: after 96h stress by heavy metals, the maximum fluorescence values reduced obviously, chlorophyll-a and chlorophyll-b in the photosynthetic system were seriously damaged by heavy metal. Further analysis of the correlations between heavy metal concentration and fluorescence quenching efficiency I0/I can conclude that the toxicity of heavy metal and the fluorescence quenching efficiency I0/I were positively correlated, and they all increased with the heavy metal concentration and stress time. For one kind of heavy metals, synchronous scan fluorometry is a sensitive method for its toxicity assessment. Compared to 3DEEM fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous scan fluorescence spectroscopy is less time consuming and of higher selectivity. It is suitable to assess the toxicity of pollutions in water.

Abstract
A new monitoring method of NO2 concentration near ground with the target difference absorption spectrum technology (Target DOAS) is introduced in the present paper. This method is based on the passive difference absorption spectrum technology. The instrument collects solar reflection spectrum of remote objectives, such as wall of building and mountain, and a specific reference spectrum is chosen to subtract the influence of trace gases from the target to atmospheric top, then integrated concentration of NO2 along the path between the target and instrument can be calculated through the differential absorption spectra inversion algorithm. Since the distance between the instrument and target is given, the mean concentration of NO2 can be derived. With developed Target DOAS instrument, NO2 concentration measurement was carried out in Hefei. And comparison was made between the target DOAS and long path difference absorption spectrometer. Good consistency was presented, proving the feasibility of this method.

Abstract
Nitrate radical (NO3) is the most important oxidant in the tropospheric nighttime chemistry. Due to its high reactivity and low atmospheric concentrations, modern red light emitting diodes (LEDs) was proposed as light source in long path differential optical absorption spectroscopy (LP-DOAS) to measure NO3 radical in the atmosphere. The spectral properties of Luxeon LXHL-MD1D LEDs were analyzed in the present paper. The principle of LEDs-DOAS system to measure nitrate radical was studied in this paper. The experimental setup and retrieval method of NO3 radical were discussed in this paper. The retrieved example of NO3 was given and the time series of NO3 concentrations was performed for a week. The results showed that the detection limits of LEDs-DOAS system were 12 ppt for atmospheric NO3 radical when the optical path of LEDs-DOAS system was 2.8 km.

Abstract
Aerosols interfere with differential absorption lidar ozone concentration measurement and can introduce significant errors. A new retrieval method was introduced, and ozone concentration and aerosol extinction coefficient were gained simultaneously based on the retrieval method. The variables were analyzed by experiment including aerosol lidar ratio, aerosol wavelength exponent, and aerosol-molecular ratio at the reference point. The results show that these parameters introduce error less than 8% below 1 km. The measurement error derives chiefly from signal noise and the parameters introduce error less than 3% above 1 km. Finally the vertical profile of tropospheric ozone concentration and aerosol extinction coefficient were derived by using this algorithm. The retrieval results of the algorithm and traditional dual-wavelength difference algorithm are compared and analyzed. Experimental results indicate that the algorithm is feasible, and the algorithm can reduce differential absorption lidar measurement error introduced by aerosol.

Abstract
Using photodiode array (PDA) detector and spectrometer, a method on the basis of algorithm of nondispersive ultraviolet (NDUV) is described to measure and analyze nitric oxide (NO) gas. With the introduction of light source impact factor and absorption spectrum impact factor, fitting equation and correlation coefficient between absorbance and concentration was acquired through comparative analysis on the total intensity of nitric oxide absorption and non-absorption spectrum, which are collected in different integration times and within different wavelength width. The results show that second order fitting correlation coefficient related to absorbance and concentration is above 0.999 9 and the error of concentrations between the concentration calculated by fitting equation and the standard concentration is less than 3% through using suitable fitting order, fitting wavelength width and analysis method.

Abstract
Mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with particle size 3 nm have been successfully synthesized in aqueous medium by hydrothermal synthesis method. And the effects of different metal ions on MPA capped CdTe QDs fluorescence were studied using fluorescence spectrometry. The results demonstrated that at the same concentration level, Ag(+) could strongly quench CdTe QDs fluorescence, and the other metal ions had little effect on CdTe QDs fluorescence except Cu(2+). On the basis of this fact, a rapid, simple, highly sensitive and selective method based on fluorescence quenching principle for Ag(+) detection in aqueous solution was proposed. Under optimal conditions, the quenched fluorescence intensity (F(0)-F) increased linearly with the concentration of Ag(+) ranging from 4 × 10(-7) to 32 × 10(-7)mol L(-1). The limit of detection for Ag(+) was 4.106 × 10(-8)mol L(-1). The obtained plot of F(0)/F versus [Ag(+)] was an upward curvature, concave towards the y-axis, rather than a straight line. The modified form of the Stern-Volmer equation was third order in Ag(+) concentration. According to the modified Stern-Volmer equation, it can be inferred that dynamic quenching and static quenching simultaneously occurred when Ag(+) interacted with MPA capped CdTe QDs. At the same time other factors might also influence the quenching process. Based on this study, hydrothermal synthesized MPA capped CdTe QDs with particle size 3 nm may be used as a novel fluorescence probe to quantificationally and selectively detect Ag(+).
