Abstract
Automatic segmentation of blood vessels in fundus images is important to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosis. However, automatic segmentation for Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) blood vessels has not been fully investigated due to various difficulties, such as vessel complexity. In addition, there are only a few publicly available OCTA image data sets for training and validating segmentation algorithms. To address these issues, we constructed a wild-field retinal OCTA segmentation data set, the Retinal Vessels Images in OCTA (REVIO) dataset. Second, we propose a new retinal vessel segmentation network based on spatial and frequency domain networks (SFNet). The proposed model are tested on three benchmark data sets including REVIO, ROSE and OCTA-500. The experimental results show superior performance on segmentation tasks compared to the representative methods.

R(3780) Resonance Interpreted as the 1^{3}D_{1}-Wave Dominant State of Charmonium from Precise Measurements of the Cross Section of e^{+}e^{-}→Hadrons. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 133:241902. Abstract
We report the precise measurements of the cross section of e^{+}e^{-}→hadrons at center-of-mass energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We thereby perform the most precise study of the cross sections and find a complex system composed of three resonances of R(3760), R(3780), and R(3810). For the first time, we measure the R(3810) electronic width to be (19.4±7.4±12.1) eV. For the R(3760) resonance, we measure the mass to be (3751.9±3.8±2.8) MeV/c^{2}, the total width to be (32.8±5.8±8.7) MeV, and the electronic width to be (184±75±86) eV. For the R(3780) resonance, we measure its mass to be (3778.7±0.5±0.3) MeV/c^{2}, total width to be (20.3±0.8±1.7) MeV, and electronic width to be (265±67±83) eV. Forty-seven years ago, the ψ(3770) resonance was discovered, and was subsequently interpreted as the 1^{3}D_{1}-wave dominant state of charmonium. However, our analysis of the total-hadron cross sections indicates that the ψ(3770) is not a single state, but a complex system composed of the R(3760), R(3780), and R(3810) resonances. Among these, we interpret the R(3780) is a resonance dominated by the 1^{3}D_{1} charmonium state.

Abstract
Backfat thickness is an important economic trait that affects pork quality and flavor. The Lijiang pig (LJP), a local breed in Yunnan province, China, exhibits variations in growth and body composition. However, the molecular basis for these variations is unclear. This study aimed to analyze transcriptome profiles of backfat at different growth stages in LJP with discrepant body size: two months (M2), four months, and six months. Firstly, we analyzed the gene expression differences and discovered a significantly highest number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at the M2 stage. Secondly, we identified four gene profiles with reverse expression trends in LJP populations with different body sizes, and the related genes mainly associated with immune response functionality. Thirdly, we observed a lower correlation in LJP with large body size at the M2 stage, with a specific enrichment of DEGs with high genetic differentiation related to neural activity. Finally, we correlated transcriptome profiles of muscle and backfat and discovered the lowest correlation at the M2 stage. Highly correlated genes exhibited more significant differences and were prominently enriched for immune response processes. This study unveils candidate genes linked to backfat growth in LJP, emphasizing the specificity of the early growth stage of backfat.

Abstract
The fibrocartilage stem cells (FCSCs) on the surface of the condyle play an essential role in cartilage homeostasis and regeneration. However, few well-defined stem cell markers have been identified for the analysis of FCSCs' cell fate and regulation mechanism. In this study, we first mapped the transcriptional landscape of the condylar cartilage and identified a Gli1+ subset. Label-retaining cells and our lineage-tracing study showed that Gli1 labeled a group of FCSCs. Conditional knockout β-catenin inhibited Gli1+ cells differentiating into hypertrophic chondrocytes. In discectomy-induced temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), Gli1+ cells were further activated, and their differentiation into hypertrophic chondrocytes was accelerated, which induced stem cell pool depletion. The deletion of β-catenin in Gli1+ cells preserved the FCSC pool and alleviated TMJOA cartilage degeneration. Collectively, we uncovered that a Gli1+ FCSC subpopulation and Wnt/β-catenin signaling orchestrate the Gli1+ cell fate in condyle postnatal development and TMJOA.

Abstract
Atomic nuclei are self-organized, many-body quantum systems bound by strong nuclear forces within femtometre-scale space. These complex systems manifest a variety of shapes1-3, traditionally explored using non-invasive spectroscopic techniques at low energies4,5. However, at these energies, their instantaneous shapes are obscured by long-timescale quantum fluctuations, making direct observation challenging. Here we introduce the collective-flow-assisted nuclear shape-imaging method, which images the nuclear global shape by colliding them at ultrarelativistic speeds and analysing the collective response of outgoing debris. This technique captures a collision-specific snapshot of the spatial matter distribution within the nuclei, which, through the hydrodynamic expansion, imprints patterns on the particle momentum distribution observed in detectors6,7. We benchmark this method in collisions of ground-state uranium-238 nuclei, known for their elongated, axial-symmetric shape. Our findings show a large deformation with a slight deviation from axial symmetry in the nuclear ground state, aligning broadly with previous low-energy experiments. This approach offers a new method for imaging nuclear shapes, enhances our understanding of the initial conditions in high-energy collisions and addresses the important issue of nuclear structure evolution across energy scales.

Abstract
Objective: To explore diagnostic value of prenatal ultrasound screening in velamentous umbilical cord insertion (VCI) and its influence on perinatal outcomes, and to provide theoretical basis for clinical practice. Methods: Fifty-eight pregnant women diagnosed with VCI before or after delivery admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University were selected from January 2012 to December 2022. The clinical features and perinatal outcomes of 45 women finally with VCI after delivery (VCI group) were retrospectively analyzed, and 225 women with normal umbilical cord attachment were selected as the control group during the same period. Results: (1) Among 58 women, 54 (93.1%, 54/58) were diagnosed with VCI by prenatal ultrasound screening, 4 patients (6.9%, 4/58) were missed; and 13 (22.4%, 13/58) were misdiagnosed. Finally, a total of 45 women were confirmed by postpartum placental examination, and 11 (24.4%,11/45) were combined with vasa previa. (2) There were no differences in age, number of pregnancies, and number of induced abortions between the two groups (all P>0.05). Compared with the control group, the rate of assisted reproductive technology [13.3% (6/45) vs 0.4% (1/225); P<0.01], and twin pregnancy rate [8.9% (4/45) vs 0.4% (1/225); P<0.01] in the VCI group were significant higher. (3) Compared with the control group, the rate of placenta previa, succenturiate placenta, vasa previa, postpartum hemorrhage, prenatal hemorrhage and postpartum intrauterine remainder in the VCI group were significant higher (all P<0.05); there was no significant difference in the incidence of placental abruption, premature rupture of membranes, fetal distress and single umbilical artery between the two groups (all P>0.05). The incidence of fetal structural abnormalities in the VCI group (4.4%, 2/45) was higher than that in the control group (1.3%, 3/225), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P=0.195). (4) The cesarean section rate [75.0% (33/44) vs 45.1% (101/224); P<0.01], preterm birth rate [29.5% (13/44) vs 5.4% (12/224); P<0.01], rate of small for gestational age [20.5% (9/44) vs 5.4% (12/224); P<0.01] in the VCI group were significant higher. However, neonatal birth weight [(2 928±552) vs (3 353±498) g; P<0.01], and 1-minute Apgar score (median: 10 vs 10; P<0.01) in the VCI group were lower than those in the control group. Conclusions: Prenatal ultrasound screening is an important method to diagnose VCI. VCI is more prone to adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as postpartum hemorrhage, premature delivery, small for gestational age, et al. Its risk factors include twin pregnancy, assisted reproductive technology, placenta previa, and para-placenta.

Study of the Decay and Production Properties of D_{s1}(2536) and D_{s2}^{*}(2573). PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 133:171903. [PMID: 39530816 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.133.171903] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/10/2024] [Revised: 08/28/2024] [Accepted: 09/27/2024] [Indexed: 11/16/2024]
Abstract
The e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s1}(2536)^{-} and e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s2}^{*}(2573)^{-} processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946 GeV. The absolute branching fractions of D_{s1}(2536)^{-}→D[over ¯]^{*0}K^{-} and D_{s2}^{*}(2573)^{-}→D[over ¯]^{0}K^{-} are measured for the first time to be (35.9±4.8±3.5)% and (37.4±3.1±4.6)%, respectively. The e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s1}(2536)^{-} and e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s2}^{*}(2573)^{-} cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6 GeV with a width of 50 MeV is observed in both processes with a statistical significance of 7.2σ and 15σ, respectively. The state is observed for the first time in e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s2}^{*}(2573)^{-} and could be the Y(4626) found by the Belle oration in the D_{s}^{+}D_{s1}(2536)^{-} final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75 GeV in both processes.

Abstract
One of the fundamental goals of particle physics is to gain a microscopic understanding of the strong interaction. Electromagnetic form factors quantify the structure of hadrons in terms of charge and magnetization distributions. While the nucleon structure has been investigated extensively, data on hyperons are still scarce. It has recently been demonstrated that electron-positron annihilations into hyperon-antihyperon pairs provide a powerful tool to investigate their inner structure. We present a method useful for hyperon-antihyperon pairs of different types which exploits the cross section enhancement due to the effect of vacuum polarization at the J/ψ resonance. Using the 10 billion J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, this allows a precise determination of the hyperon structure function. The result is essentially a precise snapshot of theΛ ¯ Σ 0 ( Λ Σ ¯ 0 ) transition process, encoded in the transition form factor ratio and phase. Their values are measured to be R = 0.860 ± 0.029(stat.) ± 0.015(syst.), Δ Φ Λ ¯ Σ 0 = ( 1.011 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d and Δ Φ Λ Σ ¯ 0 = ( 2.128 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d . Furthermore, charge-parity (CP) breaking is investigated in this reaction and found to be consistent with CP symmetry.

Benef Microbes 2024:1-15. Abstract
Chronic constipation is a multi-symptomatic, multifactorial, and heterogeneous gastrointestinal disorder. Current pharmacological treatments for chronic constipation are limited and might negatively impact the patients' quality of life. Although probiotics have been shown to improve constipation symptoms, their specific regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. This study sought to explore how probiotic complexes may affect chronic constipation by improving patients' defecation habits. Furthermore, microbial profiles and non-targeted metabolites were assessed to explore the metabolic pathways involved in the improvement of constipation by probiotics. Patients with chronic constipation were treated using a single-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial design. The experimental group was administered Lactobacillus powder prepared from 15 probiotic products, and maltodextrin was used as a placebo. Samples were collected twice daily for 4 weeks, and faecal samples were analysed using 16S rRNA sequencing and untargeted metabolic histology. Probiotic treatment changed the makeup of the gut microbiota, enhanced the quantity of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, and markedly reduced clinical symptoms. The 16S rRNA analysis revealed that the abundance of Bifidobacterium and Prevotella increased while that of Thickettsia declined. Moreover, there was a decrease in the abundance of Faecalibacterium and Roseburia. Non-targeted metabolomics analysis identified several differential metabolites, including succinic acid, fumaric acid, cholesterol, xanthurenic acid, 3-alpha,7-alpha-trihydroxy-5beta-cholestan-26-oic, and N-methyltryptamine. KEGG analysis showed that these metabolites were mainly associated with metabolic pathways such as primary bile acid biosynthesis, tryptophan metabolism, alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism, phenylalanine metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, and propanoate metabolism. In this study, gut microbiome and non-targeted metabolome analyses were performed on collected faecal samples to compare characteristic microorganisms and differential metabolites to provide new insights and references for probiotic intervention in constipation. Systematic review and meta-analysis of the prognostic value of 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) and/or computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics in head and neck cancer. Clin Radiol 2024; 79:757-772. Abstract
AIM Radiomics involves the extraction of quantitative data from medical images to facilitate the diagnosis, prognosis, and staging of tumors. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the efficacy of radiomics in prognostic applications for head and neck cancer (HNC) in recent years. It undertakes a systematic review of prognostic models specific to HNC and conducts a meta-analysis to evaluate their predictive performance. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study adhered rigorously to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines for literature searches. The literature databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Scopus were systematically searched individually. The methodological quality of the incorporated studies underwent assessment utilizing the radiomics quality score (RQS) tool. A random-effects meta-analysis employing the Harrell concordance index (C-index) was conducted to evaluate the performance of all radiomics models. RESULTS Among the 388 studies retrieved, 24 studies encompassing a total of 6,978 cases were incorporated into the systematic review. Furthermore, eight studies, focusing on overall survival as an endpoint, were included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis revealed that the estimated random effect of the C-index for all studies utilizing radiomics alone was 0.77 (0.71-0.82), with a substantial degree of heterogeneity indicated by an I2 of 80.17%. CONCLUSIONS Based on this review, prognostic modeling utilizing radiomics has demonstrated enhanced efficacy for head and neck cancers; however, there remains room for improvement in this approach. In the future, advancements are warranted in the integration of clinical parameters and multimodal features, balancing multicenter data, as well as in feature screening and model construction within this field.

Strong and Weak CP Tests in Sequential Decays of Polarized Σ^{0} Hyperons. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 133:101902. Abstract
The J/ψ, ψ(3686)→Σ^{0}Σ[over ¯]^{0} processes and subsequent decays are studied using the world's largest J/ψ and ψ(3686) data samples collected with the BESIII detector. The parity-violating decay parameters of the decays Σ^{0}→Λγ and Σ[over ¯]^{0}→Λ[over ¯]γ, α_{Σ^{0}}=-0.0017±0.0021±0.0018 and α[over ¯]_{Σ^{0}}=0.0021±0.0020±0.0022, are measured for the first time. The strong CP symmetry is tested in the decays of the Σ^{0} hyperons for the first time by measuring the asymmetry A_{CP}^{Σ}=α_{Σ^{0}}+α[over ¯]_{Σ^{0}}=(0.4±2.9±1.3)×10^{-3}. The weak CP test is performed in the subsequent decays of their daughter particles Λ and Λ[over ¯]. Also for the first time, the transverse polarizations of the Σ^{0} hyperons in J/ψ and ψ(3686) decays are observed with opposite directions, and the ratios between the S-wave and D-wave contributions of the J/ψ, ψ(3686)→Σ^{0}Σ[over ¯]^{0} decays are obtained. These results are crucial to understand the decay dynamics of the charmonium states and the production mechanism of the Σ^{0}-Σ[over ¯]^{0} pairs.

[PMID: 38936116 DOI: 10.1016/j.puhe.2024.05.021] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/11/2024] [Revised: 05/14/2024] [Accepted: 05/17/2024] [Indexed: 06/29/2024]
Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to characterize the most updated utilization of eye care services and obtain a holistic understanding of barriers among patients with diabetes in China. STUDY DESIGN This was a convergent mixed methods study. METHODS A convergent triangulation mixed methods approach was used, with a quantitative cross-sectional survey of patients with diabetes and semistructured interviews involving patients and health workers. Following the conceptual framework of the World Health Organization Determinants of Health Behaviours, multivariate logistic regression for quantitative analysis and thematic analysis for qualitative data were used to examine barriers to seeking eye care among patients with diabetes. Triangulation was used to integrate quantitative and qualitative results. RESULTS Among 1167 surveyed patients who participated in the quantitative component, 29.1% had undergone eye examinations within the last 12 months, and 9.3% had received eye surgery. Awareness that diabetes causes eye diseases (P < 0.001) and knowing laser treatment can treat diabetic retinopathy (DR; P < 0.001) were associated with higher examination rates. In the qualitative component, involving 20 patients and 11 health workers, barriers were identified from individual, social, and cultural environmental factors. Integration of data highlighted the complex interplay of these factors in shaping care-seeking behaviors and the importance of non-economic factors, including patients' information about costs of DR services and cultural environmental factors. CONCLUSIONS Diabetic eye care utilization remains suboptimal in China, emphasizing the impact of cultural and contextual factors. Comprehensive education strategies, along with training for primary health workers and task-shifting, are likely to enhance eye care service utilization in underserved settings.

Abstract
Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.80 to 4.95 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20 fb^{-1}, a measurement of Born cross sections for the e^{+}e^{-}→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0} and D^{+}D^{-} processes is presented with unprecedented precision. Many clear peaks in the line shape of e^{+}e^{-}→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0} and D^{+}D^{-} around the mass range of G(3900), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), Y(4260), and ψ(4415), etc., are foreseen. These results offer crucial experimental insights into the nature of hadron production in the open-charm region.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignant tumor of the liver. MRI has become an important imaging method for non-invasive diagnosis and evaluation of HCC in clinics because of its advantageous aspects, such as its non-radiative nature, superior detection, and qualitative accuracy over CT and ultrasound. Various MRI techniques, including hepatobiliary-specific contrast agents, magnetic resonance elastography, diffusion-weighted imaging, and others, can diagnose HCC or evaluate its malignant biological behavior from different dimensions such as blood supply, cell function, tissue hardness, and water molecule diffusion. This article introduces the current status and prospects of various MRI techniques for HCC diagnosis and evaluation.

Abstract
This study employed nano-indentation technology, molecular dynamics simulation, and experimental investigation to examine the stress relaxation behaviour of a polycrystalline γ-TiAl alloy. The simulation enabled the generation of a load-time curve, the visualisation of internal defect evolution, and the mapping of stress distribution across each grain during the stress relaxation stage. The findings indicate that the load remains stable following an initial decline, thereby elucidating the underlying mechanism of load change during stress relaxation. Furthermore, a nano-indentation test was conducted on the alloy, providing insight into the load variation and stress relaxation behaviour under different loading conditions. By comparing the simulation and experimental results, this study aims to guide the theoretical research and practical application of γ-TiAl alloys.

Abstract
We report a measurement of exclusive J/ψ and ψ(2s) photoproduction in Au+Au ultraperipheral collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV using the STAR detector. For the first time, (i) the ψ(2s) photoproduction in midrapidity at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider has been experimentally measured; (ii) nuclear suppression factors are measured for both the coherent and incoherent J/ψ production. At average photon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 25.0 GeV, the coherent and incoherent J/ψ cross sections of Au nuclei are found to be 71±10% and 36±7%, respectively, of that of free protons. The stronger suppression observed in the incoherent production provides a new experimental handle to study the initial-state parton density in heavy nuclei. Data are compared with theoretical models quantitatively.

Abstract
At the origin of the Universe, an asymmetry between the amount of created matter and antimatter led to the matter-dominated Universe as we know it today. The origins of this asymmetry remain unknown so far. High-energy nuclear collisions create conditions similar to the Universe microseconds after the Big Bang, with comparable amounts of matter and antimatter1-6. Much of the created antimatter escapes the rapidly expanding fireball without annihilating, making such collisions an effective experimental tool to create heavy antimatter nuclear objects and to study their properties7-14, hoping to shed some light on the existing questions on the asymmetry between matter and antimatter. Here we report the observation of the antimatter hypernucleusH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 , composed of aΛ ¯ , an antiproton and two antineutrons. The discovery was made through its two-body decay after production in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider15,16. In total, 15.6 candidateH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 antimatter hypernuclei are obtained with an estimated background count of 6.4. The lifetimes of the antihypernucleiH ¯ Λ ¯ 3 andH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 are measured and compared with the lifetimes of their corresponding hypernuclei, testing the symmetry between matter and antimatter. Various production yield ratios among (anti)hypernuclei (hypernuclei and/or antihypernuclei) and (anti)nuclei (nuclei and/or antinuclei) are also measured and compared with theoretical model predictions, shedding light on their production mechanisms.

Effects of rumen-protected 5-hydroxytryptophan on circulating serotonin concentration, behaviour, and mammary gland involution in goats. Animal 2024; 18:101254. Abstract
The risk of acquiring new intramammary infections is high at the end of lactation, especially for the high milk-producing dairy animals. Resistance to bacterial infection increases following the completion of mammary gland involution after milking cessation. The serotonin precursor 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) could accelerate involution by increasing circulating serotonin levels, but ruminal microbes may degrade 5-HTP if orally administered to adult ruminants. It is unclear whether rumen-protected 5-HTP could effectively mediate circulating serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) and therefore accelerate mammary gland involution in ruminants. Goats were used as a model in the current study to investigate the effects of rumen-protected 5-HTP on behaviour, 5-HT metabolism, and mammary involution in ruminants. In the first experiment, 16 female Dazu black goats were assigned to one of four groups in a randomised block design. The treatments included a basal diet plus 0, 4, 20, or 100 mg/kg BW of rumen-protected 5-HTP. Serum was collected at 0, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h after offering the rumen-protected 5-HTP in the morning feed, and the behaviours were monitored. In the second experiment, 12 female Dazu black goats (Somatic cell count < 250 000) were randomly assigned to the control (basal diet) or rumen-protected 5-HTP group (basal diet plus 20 mg/kg BW). Milk or mammary secretions were manually collected aseptically on d -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 around weaning. The results depicted that rumen-protected 5-HTP supplementation elevated circulating 5-HTP and 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid concentrations, while 20 mg/kg BW of rumen-protected 5-HTP supplementation lowered the goats' locomotive activity. A high concentration of rumen-protected 5-HTP (100 mg/kg BW) increased serum alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase concentrations. Moreover, oral supplementation with 20 mg/kg BW of rumen-protected 5-HTP accelerated mammary gland involution and reduced feed intake in goats after weaning. These results demonstrate that oral supplementation with rumen-protected 5-HTP influences 5-HT metabolism and accelerates mammary gland involution after milking cessation in ruminants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and seasonal fluctuations of visceral leishmaniasis vectors sandflies in Lüliang City, Shanxi Province, so as to provide insights into assessment of the visceral leishmaniasis transmission risk and formulation of visceral leishmaniasis control measures. METHODS A total of 12 natural villages were sampled from Shilou County, Lishi District, Lanxian County, Linxian County and Wenshui County in Lüliang City, Shanxi Province from June to September, 2023, and sandflies were captured using light traps from 7 breeding habitats, including farmers' houses, sheep pens, cattle pens, chicken coops, pig pens, mule and horse pens, and loess-cave dwellings. Following morphological identification of the sandfly species, the distribution of sandflies and the seasonal fluctuations of the sandfly density were analyzed. In addition, the Leishmania was detected in sandflies using a real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay. RESULTS A total of 2 831 sandflies were captured with 156 light traps in Lüliang City from June to September, 2023, including 2 638 female sandflies (93.18%) and 193 male sandflies (6.82%), and the average density was 16.91 sandflies/(light-night). The seasonal fluctuations of the sandfly density all appeared a unimodal distribution in all survey sites, and the sandfly density peaked in July and then declined rapidly. Among all types of breeding habitats, the greatest sandfly density was found in sheep pens [39.04 sandflies/(light-night)]. In addition, 4.08% (2/49) of the sandfly samples were tested positive for Leishmania nucleic acid as revealed by the real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay. CONCLUSIONS Sandflies were widely distributed in Lüliang City, Shanxi Province in 2023, and the peak of the sandfly density was observed in July, which had a visceral leishmaniasis transmission risk. Intensified surveillance of visceral leishmaniasis and sandfly vectors is required and targeted vector control is recommended.

Abstract
Drug repurposing is a promising approach to find new therapeutic indications for approved drugs. Many computational approaches have been proposed to prioritize candidate anticancer drugs by gene or pathway level. However, these methods neglect the changes in gene interactions at the edge level. To address the limitation, we develop a computational drug repurposing method (iEdgePathDDA) based on edge information and pathway topology. First, we identify drug-induced and disease-related edges (the changes in gene interactions) within pathways by using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Next, we calculate the inhibition score between drug-induced edges and disease-related edges. Finally, we prioritize drug candidates according to the inhibition score on all disease-related edges. Case studies show that our approach successfully identifies new drug-disease pairs based on CTD database. Compared to the state-of-the-art approaches, the results demonstrate our method has the superior performance in terms of five metrics across colorectal, breast, and lung cancer datasets.

Abstract
Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the cross section of the inclusive process e^{+}e^{-}→η+X, normalized by the total cross section of e^{+}e^{-}→hadrons, is measured at eight center-of-mass energy points from 2.0000 to 3.6710 GeV. These are the first measurements with momentum dependence in this energy region. Our measurement shows a significant discrepancy compared to the existing fragmentation functions. To address this discrepancy, a new QCD analysis is performed at the next-to-next-to-leading order with hadron mass corrections and higher twist effects, which can explain both the established high-energy data and our measurements reasonably well.

First Study of Antihyperon-Nucleon Scattering Λ[over ¯]p→Λ[over ¯]p and Measurement of Λp→Λp Cross Section. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:231902. Abstract
Using (10.087±0.044)×10^{9} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the processes Λp→Λp and Λ[over ¯]p→Λ[over ¯]p are studied, where the Λ/Λ[over ¯] baryons are produced in the process J/ψ→ΛΛ[over ¯] and the protons are the hydrogen nuclei in the cooling oil of the beam pipe. Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in -0.9≤cosθ_{Λ/Λ[over ¯]}≤0.9 are measured to be σ(Λp→Λp)=(12.2±1.6_{stat}±1.1_{syst}) and σ(Λ[over ¯]p→Λ[over ¯]p)=(17.5±2.1_{stat}±1.6_{syst}) mb at the Λ/Λ[over ¯] momentum of 1.074 GeV/c within a range of ±0.017 GeV/c, where the θ_{Λ/Λ[over ¯]} are the scattering angles of the Λ/Λ[over ¯] in the Λp/Λ[over ¯]p rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for Λp→Λp, and a strong forward peak for Λ[over ¯]p→Λ[over ¯]p. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of Λ[over ¯]p→Λ[over ¯]p represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

First Observation of a Three-Resonance Structure in e^{+}e^{-}→Nonopen Charm Hadrons. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:191902. [PMID: 38804946 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.132.191902] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/19/2023] [Revised: 03/10/2024] [Accepted: 03/29/2024] [Indexed: 05/29/2024]
Abstract
We report the measurement of the inclusive cross sections for e^{+}e^{-}→nOCH (where nOCH denotes non-open charm hadrons) with improved precision at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We observe three resonances: R(3760), R(3780), and R(3810) with significances of 8.1σ, 13.7σ, and 8.8σ, respectively. The R(3810) state is observed for the first time, while the R(3760) and R(3780) states are observed for the first time in the nOCH cross sections. Two sets of resonance parameters describe the energy-dependent line shape of the cross sections well. In set I [set II], the R(3810) state has mass (3805.7±1.1±2.7) [(3805.7±1.1±2.7)] MeV/c^{2}, total width (11.6±2.9±1.9) [(11.5±2.8±1.9)] MeV, and an electronic width multiplied by the nOCH decay branching fraction of (10.9±3.8±2.5) [(11.0±3.4±2.5)] eV. In addition, we measure the branching fractions B[R(3760)→nOCH]=(25.2±16.1±30.4)%[(6.4±4.8±7.7)%] and B[R(3780)→nOCH]=(12.3±6.6±8.3)%[(10.4±4.8±7.0)%] for the first time. The R(3760) state can be interpreted as an open-charm (OC) molecular state, but containing a simple four-quark state component. The R(3810) state can be interpreted as a hadrocharmonium state.

Abstract
Based on (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/ψ→γK_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}η^{'} is performed. The mass and width of the X(2370) are measured to be 2395±11(stat)_{-94}^{+26}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and 188_{-17}^{+18}(stat)_{-33}^{+124}(syst) MeV, respectively. The corresponding product branching fraction is B[J/ψ→γX(2370)]×B[X(2370)→f_{0}(980)η^{'}]×B[f_{0}(980)→K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}]=(1.31±0.22(stat)_{-0.84}^{+2.85}(syst))×10^{-5}. The statistical significance of the X(2370) is greater than 11.7σ and the spin parity is determined to be 0^{-+} for the first time. The measured mass and spin parity of the X(2370) are consistent with the predictions of the lightest pseudoscalar glueball.
