Abstract
Objective: To investigate the anatomic zone localization based on biparametric magnetic resonance imaging (bpMRI) for the prediction of the risk degree in patients with prostate cancer. Methods: A total of 92 patients with prostate cancer confirmed by radical surgery in First Affiliated Hospital, Air Force Medical University, from January 2017 to December 2021 were collected. All patients underwent bpMRI (non-enhanced scan and DWI). According to ISUP grade, those patients were divided into low-risk group [≤grade 2, n=26, aged 71 (64.0, 5.2) years] and high-risk group[≥grade 3, n=66, aged 70.5 (63.0, 74.0) years]. The interobserver consistency test for ADC values was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The differences in total prostate specific antigen (tPSA) between the two groups were compared and the χ2 test was used to compare the differences in the risk of prostate cancer in the transitional and peripheral zone. Independent correlation factors for prostate cancer risk were analyzed by logistic regression using high and low risk of prostate cancer as dependent variables, including factors such as anatomical zone, tPSA, apparent diffusion coefficient mean (ADCmean), apparent diffusion coefficient minimum (ADCmin) and age. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to assess the efficacy of the combined models of anatomical zone, tPSA, and anatomical partitioning+tPSA for diagnosing prostate cancer risk. Results: The ICC values of the ADCmean and ADCmin between the observers were 0.906 and 0.885, respectively, with good agreement. The tPSA in the low-risk group was lower than that in the high-risk group [19.64 (10.29, 35.18) ng/ml vs 72.42 (24.79, 187.98) ng/ml; P<0.001]; the risk of prostate cancer in the peripheral zone was higher than that in the transitional zone, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Multifactorial regression showed that anatomical zones (OR=0.120, 95%CI:0.029-0.501, P=0.004) and tPSA (OR=1.059, 95%CI:1.022-1.099, P=0.002) were risk factors for prostate cancer risk. The diagnostic efficacy of the combined model (AUC=0.895, 95%CI: 0.831-0.958) was better than the predictive efficacy of the single model for both anatomical partitioning (AUC=0.717, 95%CI:0.597-0.837) and tPSA (AUC=0.801, 95%CI: 0.714-0.887) (Z=3.91, 2.47; all P<0.05). Conclusions: The malignant degree of prostate cancer in peripheral zone was higher than that in transitional zone. Combination of anatomic zone located by bpMRI and tPSA can be used to predict the risk of prostate cancer before surgery, expected to provide support for patients to develop personalized treatment strategies.

Abstract
The surface of glass is crucial for understanding many fundamental processes in glassy solids. A common notion is that a glass surface is a thin layer with liquid-like atomic dynamics and a thickness of a few tens of nanometers. Here, we measured the shear modulus at the surface of both millimeter-size and micrometer-size metallic glasses (MGs) through high-sensitivity torsion techniques. We found a pronounced shear-modulus softening at the surface of MGs. Compared with the bulk, the maximum decrease in the surface shear modulus (G) for the micro-scale MGs reaches ~27%, which is close to the decrease in the G upon glass transition, yet it still behaves solid-like. Strikingly, the surface thickness estimated from the shear-modulus softening is at least 400 nm, which is approximately one order of magnitude larger than that revealed from the glass dynamics. The unusually thick surface is also confirmed by measurements using X-ray nano-computed tomography, and this may account for the brittle-to-ductile transition of the MGs with size reductions. The unique and unusual properties at the surface of the micrometer-size MGs are physically related to the negative pressure effect during the thermoplastic formation process, which can dramatically reduce the density of the proximate surface region in the supercooled liquid state. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the effect of micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-195 on the inflammatory response of ulcerative colitis (UC) model rats and to explore its regulatory mechanism, thus providing a new scheme for the clinical treatment of UC. MATERIALS AND METHODS A rat model of UC was prepared by 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS)/ethanol assay, and the rats were randomly divided into Control group, Model group, and miR-195 mimic (miR-195 agomir) group. The disease activity index (DAI) in each group was observed. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was utilized to detect the pathological changes in the rat colon tissues in each group. The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-1β in the colon tissues of the rats in each group were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In addition, the messenger RNA (mRNA) and protein levels of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in the colon tissues of each group of rats were examined via Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting, respectively. RESULTS Compared with those in Control group, the rats in Model group had an increased DAI score, severely pathologically damaged colon tissues, raised levels of IL-6 and IL-1β in the colon tissues and significantly elevated mRNA and protein levels of p38 MAPK and TNF-α. In comparison with those in Model group, the DAI score was decreased, the pathological damage to the rat colon tissues was improved, the levels of IL-6 and IL-1β in the rat colon tissues were reduced, and the mRNA and protein levels of p38 MAPK and TNF-α were notably lowered in miR-195 agomir group. CONCLUSIONS MiR-195 mimics can alleviate the pathological damage to the colon and inflammatory responses in UC model rats, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition on the p38 MAPK signaling pathway.

Abstract
The aim of the current study was to evaluate the levels of growth factors in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with autism, after transplantation of human umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells (CBMNCs) and umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs). Twenty patients received two CBMNC intravenous and intrathecal infusions, each followed by two UCMSC intrathecal injections. A 2-mL sample of CSF was taken before each intrathecal injection. CSF levels of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) were determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). All data are reported as means ± SD and were analyzed using the SPSS 10.0 software. One-way analysis of variance with post-hoc F- and Q-tests was performed for comparison. HGF, BDNF and NGF levels in the CSF were significantly increased after transplantation (P < 0.05), while bFGF levels did not change significantly. Therefore, transplantation of CBMNCs and UCMSCs could increase HGF, BDNF and NGF levels in the CSF of patients with autism.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective our study was to compare the respective effects of water and traditional delivery on birthing women and newborns. PATIENTS AND METHODS 120 primiparas with singlet pregnancy, head-down foetus position, and term delivery were randomly divided into two groups. Sixty birthing women were included in traditional delivery group, while other sixty women underwent water delivery. The duration of labour and the volume of blood lost within 24 hours were compared between both groups. Furthermore, perineum condition, degree of delivery pain, and Apgar scores (1st and 5th minute) were also compared. RESULTS The total duration of labour and the volume of lost blood were comparable between both delivery methods. The perineum integrity and episiotomy rates were significantly (p < 0.05 for both comparisons) better in water delivery group (respectively, 25.00% vs. 8.33% and 1.67% vs. 20% in traditional delivery group). Furthermore, the degree of delivery pain was also more favourable in water delivery group. The Apgar scores were comparable between both delivery methods. CONCLUSIONS Water delivery can reduce delivery pain without increasing the risk to birthing women and newborns.

Abstract
Although radical nephrectomy alone is widely accepted as the standard of care in
localized treatment for renal cell carcinoma (RCC), it is not sufficient for the
treatment of metastatic RCC (mRCC), which invariably leads to an unfavorable outcome
despite the use of multiple therapies. Currently, sequential targeted agents are
recommended for the management of mRCC, but the optimal drug sequence is still
debated. This case was a 57-year-old man with clear-cell mRCC who received multiple
therapies following his first operation in 2003 and has survived for over 10 years
with a satisfactory quality of life. The treatments given included several surgeries,
immunotherapy, and sequentially administered sorafenib, sunitinib, and everolimus
regimens. In the course of mRCC treatment, well-planned surgeries, effective
sequential targeted therapies and close follow-up are all of great importance for
optimal management and a satisfactory outcome.

Abstract
AIM The purpose of the present study was to summarize the computed tomography (CT) features of renal carcinomas associated with Xp11.2 translocations, and determine whether the diagnosis can be reliably deduced from imaging findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS Radiological studies of six patients (aged from 9-29 years) with renal carcinoma associated with Xp11.2 translocations were retrospectively analysed. RESULTS The tumours varied in size from 3.3-11 cm (mean 5.4 cm). Unenhanced CT and cortical, medullary, and pelvic-phase contrast-enhanced CT imaging was undertaken in all cases. Unenhanced CT revealed that tumours had a relatively increased radiodensity (4/6, ranged from 45-60 HU) and suggested the possibility of diffuse haemorrhage. Three of the six cases showed irregular and boundary calcification of the lesion. Contrast-enhanced CT showed relatively well demarcated tumours with heterogeneous enhancement (6/6). Prolonged enhancement of tumours might be a common sign (6/6) in Xp11.2 translocations. Three out of the six cases were combined with retroperitoneal lymph nodes metastasis. CONCLUSION Renal carcinomas associated with Xp11.2 translocations should be considered, particularly in children and young patients, when the lesion has calcification and is hyper-dense on unenhanced CT, and has prolonged enhancement on contrast-enhanced images.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the diagnostic and differential diagnostic values of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE MRI) in prostatic diseases, and to investigate the correlation between the parameters of SI-T curves and angiogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-one patients with proven prostatic carcinoma (Pca) and 29 patients with proven benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were examined using DCE MRI. Diagnostic characteristics for differentiation were examined using threshold values for maximum peak time, enhancement degree, and enhancement rate. Then, the signal intensity-time curves (SI-T curves) were analysed, and the correlations between the parameters of SI-T curves and the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvascular density (MVD) were investigated. All patents underwent prostatectomy. DCE MRI and histological findings were correlated. RESULTS Pca showed stronger enhancement with an earlier peak time, higher enhancement, and enhancement rate (p<0.05). Regarding the type of SI-T curves, in the BPH group six were type A, 10 were type B, and 13 were type C, whereas in the Pca group, 14 were type A, six were type B, and only one was type C (Chi-square test, chi2=13.57, P<0.005). The VEGF and MVD expression levels of Pca were higher than those of BPH. Peak time was negatively correlated with the expression levels of VEGF and MVD, whereas the enhancement degree and enhancement rate showed positive correlations (Pearson correlation, p<0.05). CONCLUSION Based on T2-weighted imaging, DCE MRI curves can help to differentiate benign from malignant prostate tissue. In the present study the type C curve was rarely seen with malignant disease, but these results need confirmation.

Abstract
Multiple eccrine spiradenoma is one of the rarest tumours of the sweat gland. We report a case of multiple eccrine spiradenoma that was distributed in several parts of the body. On MRI the lesions presented with multiple dispersive foci with clear circumferences in the cutis and the subcutaneous tissue. The lesions showed low signal intensity on T1 weighted images, and high signal intensity on short tau inversion recovery images. Although the signal intensities of the lesions were not characteristic in this patient, multiple eccrine spiradenoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of the lesions in the cutis and the subcutaneous tissue.

Abstract
Inadequate secretion of vasopressin during fluid removal by hemodialysis may contribute to the cardiovascular instability that complicates this therapy and administration of exogenous hormone, by supporting arterial pressure, may facilitate volume removal. To test this, we measured plasma vasopressin in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) during hemodialysis and found that despite significant fluid removal, plasma vasopressin concentration did not increase. We further found that ESRD did not alter the endogenous removal rate of plasma vasopressin and that plasma hormone is not dialyzed. Finally, in a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial in 22 hypertensive patients, we examined the effect of a constant infusion of a non-pressor dose of vasopressin on the arterial pressure response during a hemodialysis in which the target fluid loss was increased by 0.5 kg over the baseline prescription. We found that arterial pressure was more stable in the patients receiving vasopressin and that while only one patient (9%) in the vasopressin group had a symptomatic hypotensive episode, 64% of the patients receiving placebo had such an episode (P=0.024). Moreover, increased fluid removal was achieved only in the vasopressin group (520+/-90 ml vs 64+/-130 ml, P=0.01). Thus, administration of non-pressor doses of vasopressin to hypertensive subjects improves cardiovascular stability during hemodialysis and allows increased removal of excess extracellular fluid. Inadequate vasopressin secretion during hemodialysis-induced fluid removal is a likely contributor to the intradialytic hypotension that limits fluid removal.

Abstract
The interaction of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) with c-Met has been implicated in morphogenesis of the kidney, lung, mammary gland, liver, placenta, and limb bud. HGF is secreted as an inactive zymogen and must be cleaved by a serine protease to initiate Met signaling. We show here that a serine protease specific for HGF, HGF activator (HGFA), is expressed and activated by the ureteric bud of the developing kidney in vivo and in vitro. Inhibition of HGFA activity with serine protease inhibitors reduced ureteric bud branching and inhibited glomerulogenesis and nephrogenesis. Activated HGF rescued developing kidneys from the effects of inhibitors. HGFA was localized around the tips of the ureteric bud in developing kidneys, while HGF was expressed diffusely throughout the mesenchyme. These data show that expression of HGF is not sufficient for development, but that its activation is also required. The localization of HGFA to the ureteric bud and the mesenchyme immediately adjacent to it suggests that HGFA creates a gradient of HGF activity in the developing kidney. The creation and shape of gradients of activated HGF by the localized secretion of HGF activators could play an important role in pattern formation by HGF responsive tissues.

Abstract
A binary eluent model was proposed to study the retention behavior of trace anions in the presence of high concentrations of co-eluent anions. According to this model, the effect of the matrix on the retention of trace anions can be suppressed by using a high-concentration eluent. Based on the model, a simplified 'heart-cut' column-switching technology was proposed, in which the column-switching time window can be determined directly by standard solution of the analyte. By using this technology, a detection limit of 50 microg/l was obtained for nitrate in the presence of 5,000 mg/l chloride and 250 mg/l sulfate. The effect of the matrix on the concentration efficiency of weak acid anions was studied according to the result of phosphate. The possibility of the determination of weak acid anion by the 'heart-cut' technology was also discussed. The technology has been applied for the determination of nitrate in high salinity sea water, the spike recovery is in the range of 89.2-101.3%.

Abstract
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a common human genetic disease characterized by cyst formation in kidney tubules and other ductular epithelia. Cells lining the cysts have abnormalities in cell proliferation and cell polarity. The majority of ADPKD cases are caused by mutations in the PKD1 gene, which codes for polycystin-1, a large integral membrane protein of unknown function that is expressed on the plasma membrane of renal tubular epithelial cells in fetal kidneys. Because signaling from cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion complexes regulates cell proliferation and polarity, we speculated that polycystin-1 might interact with these complexes. We show here that polycystin-1 colocalized with the cell adhesion molecules E-cadherin and alpha-, beta-, and gamma-catenin. Polycystin-1 coprecipitated with these proteins and comigrated with them on sucrose density gradients, but it did not colocalize, coprecipitate, or comigrate with focal adhesion kinase, a component of the focal adhesion. We conclude that polycystin-1 is in a complex containing E-cadherin and alpha-, beta-, and gamma-catenin. These observations raise the question of whether the defects in cell proliferation and cell polarity observed in ADPKD are mediated by E-cadherin or the catenins.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To discuss the applied value of the high resolution CT scan in the facial nerve injury induced by the temporal bone fracture. METHOD Thin slice temporal bone CT scans were conducted in 28 cases of facial nerve injuries following head trauma and operations were performed according to temporal bone CT scan and clinical manifestation. RESULT 6 cases recovered nearly to normal; 18 cases partially recovered and 4 cases were without any change. CONCLUSION The high resolution CT scan can show the fracture line's location and trend. It is of help to decide the injury site as well as other related injuries and to choose an appropriate surgical approach.

Abstract
The fluorescence-disappearing phenomenon (FDP) was used due to the nonlinear interaction between the laser and the matter, a universal phenomenon. It was often neglected during the research of surface-harmonic generation (SHG). Many experiments showed that there was a interior relation between FDP and SHG. In this paper, the mechanism of surface-harmonic generation has been discussed in detail, according to the fluorescence-disappear viewpoint and the fluorescence-disappear model (FDM) proposed also. The new mechanism was summarized by following three points: (a) The multiphoton absorption generated visible fluorescence spot, (b) Laser-heating effect and other effects promoted the conversion from spontaneous emission into quasi-stimulated emission, (c) Being accompanied by the fluorescence disappear, the part of laser energy which was initially used to cause fluorescence was now converted into developing the harmonic signal.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of abnormal Ca2+ distribution on impairment of myocardial mechanics in the early stage of thermal injury. METHODS Calcium (Ca2+) changes were observed within subcellular distribution in situ in rat heart with calcium cytochemical probe and electron probe microanalysic technique. Meanwhile, myocardial mechanics and energy metabolic changes were investigated after thermal injury. RESULTS The results demonstrated that levels of cytoplasmic Ca2+ in cardiomyocytes increased at 1 hour, followed by enhanced mitochondrial Ca2+ at 3 hour after burn injury. Parallel to the changes in Ca2+, there were decrease of myocardial contraction, relaxation capacity and increase of ventricular wall stiffness in burned rats. A lower level of heart energy changes was observed from 6 to 12 hours, compared with control group. CONCLUSION The results indicate that subcellular Ca2+ abnormal distribution in myocardium caused by burn injury may be associated with rigor contraction and decreased relaxation of myocardium.

Abstract
Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of fuchsin basic (FB) in silver colloids were measured. The influence of KCl on the SERS of FB was studied systematically with different excitation wavelengths (476.5, 488.0, 514.5, 632.8nm). The dependence of the relative SERS intensity of the 1366cm(-1) and 242cm(-1) bands of FB on KCl mole value at different excitation wavelengths were given. The SERS spectra of FB at 514.5nm and 632.8nm wavelength excitations were very different, and the relative intensity of 242cm(-1) to 1366cm(-1) SERS spectra was changed.
