Abstract
In a previous study (Y. Koga, M. Sasaki, H. Yoshida, H. Wigzell, G. Kimura, and K. Nomoto, J. Immunol. 144:94-102, 1990), we demonstrated that the expression of gp160, a precursor form of envelope glycoprotein of human immunodeficiency virus type 1, in CD4+ cells causes the downregulation of surface CD4 and single-cell killing by forming intracellular gp160-CD4 complex. In the present study we investigated the events that lead to cell death in CD4+ cells expressing gp160. We found that apoptosis is induced in cells undergoing single-cell death. Moreover, even the cell clone, which expresses so little gp160 that it does not exhibit any apparent cytopathic effects, such as the inhibition of cell growth, was found to be highly susceptible to the apoptosis induction by the anti-Fas monoclonal antibody.

Abstract
Comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) analysis was used to identify chromosomal imbalances in 52 human primary hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). The most prominent changes were gains of part or all of chromosome arms 8q (83% of cases) and 1q (73%) and loss of 16q (63%). Other commonly overrepresented sites were 5p, 7q, and Xq. Recurrent sites of DNA sequence amplification included 8q23--24 (five cases) and 11q13--14 (four cases). Other frequently underrepresented sites were 4q, 8p, 16p, and 17p. Taken collectively, these findings and data from other CGH studies of HCCs define a subset of chromosome segments that are consistently over- or underrepresented and highlight sites of putative oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, respectively, involved in hepatocellular oncogenesis. Loss of heterozygosity analysis with a panel of polymorphic microsatellite markers distributed along 16q defined a minimal region of chromosomal loss at 16q23.1--24.1, suggesting that this region harbors a tumor suppressor gene whose loss/inactivation may contribute to the pathogenesis of many HCCs.

Abstract
A fully automated system was developed for the depth of anesthesia estimation and control with the intravenous anesthetic, Propofol. The system determines the anesthesia depth by assessing the characteristics of the mid-latency auditory evoked potentials (MLAEP). The discrete time wavelet transformation was used for compacting the MLAEP which localizes the time and the frequency of the waveform. Feature reduction utilizing step discriminant analysis selected those wavelet coefficients which best distinguish the waveforms of those responders from the nonresponders. A total of four features chosen by such analysis coupled with the Propofol effect-site concentration were used to train a four-layer artificial neural network for classifying between the responders and the nonresponders. The Propofol is delivered by a mechanical syringe infusion pump controlled by Stanpump which also estimates the Propofol effect-site and plasma concentrations using a three-compartment pharmacokinetic model with the Tackley parameter set. In the animal experiments on dogs, the system achieved a 89.2% accuracy rate for classifying anesthesia depth. This result was further improved when running in real-time with a confidence level estimator which evaluates the reliability of each neural network output. The anesthesia level is adjusted by scheduled incrementation and a fuzzy-logic based controller which assesses the mean arterial pressure and/or the heart rate for decrementation as necessary. Various safety mechanisms are implemented to safeguard the patient from erratic controller actions caused by external disturbances. This system completed with a friendly interface has shown satisfactory performance in estimating and controlling the depth of anesthesia.

Abstract
Previous cytogenetic investigations have revealed frequent deletions and other unbalanced structural rearrangements of 3p in human malignant mesothelioma. We have performed a restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis by using the polymerase chain reaction and primer sets for seven DNA markers to examine loss of heterozygosity (LOH) from 3p in 25 malignant mesotheliomas. Among 24 cases informative at one or more 3p loci, 15 (62.5%) exhibited LOH with at least one marker. Deletion mapping in these tumors indicates that the common region of chromosomal loss resides within band 3p21, in the vicinity of the D3F15S2 locus. These results suggest that allelic loss from 3p21 is a frequent occurrence in malignant mesothelioma and that one or more putative tumor suppressor genes at this site contribute to the pathogenesis of this malignancy.

Abstract
At 4 wk after intraperitoneal inoculation of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) in adult BALB/c mice, MCMV remained detectable only in the salivary glands. When T cells of these mice were activated by a single injection of anti-CD3 epsilon monoclonal antibody, mice died of interstitial pneumonitis at 24-48 h after injection, accompanied by elevation of serum levels of TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma. However, MCMV remained undetectable in the lungs during the period. Simultaneous injection of cyclosporin A reduced such effects of anti-CD3. In conclusion, although the presence of MCMV in the host may be required, MCMV-associated pneumonitis is not mediated by virus in the lung but probably by the cytokines released from T cells, of which responsiveness to stimulation via CD3 molecule has been presumably modified by MCMV infection.

Abstract
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) causes severe clinical manifestations in immunocompromised hosts; however, it remains unclear whether the virus itself is a cause of immunosuppression or whether it is involved as an opportunistic bystander pathogen. This study was performed to elucidate the effect of CMV infection on the host's immune system. The double-positive thymocytes of BALB/c mice inoculated with a sublethal dose of murine CMV (MCMV) were extensively depleted by a 10-micrograms amount of anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody, while such an amount was unable to induce any apparent elimination of thymocytes in noninfected mice. In immature thymocytes of infected hosts, a markedly high level of susceptibility to apoptosis induction was found on treatment with anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody. Analysis of the signal transduction pathway of such double-positive thymocytes demonstrated a profound elevation of the intracellular Ca2+ level after anti-CD3 stimulation, implying that this aberrant mobilization of Ca2+ plays a crucial role in the signaling pathway leading these cells to an extensive apoptosis. Examination of the thymus by PCR was able to detect a low copy number of MCMV DNAs in thymic stromal cells but none at all in thymocytes. Therefore, it is suggested that a mechanism which is not associated with virus replication within the cells exerts a critical effect on rendering the thymocytes highly apoptosis sensitive in hosts infected with MCMV.

Abstract
Chromium(VI) resistant Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines were established in this study by exposing parental CHO-K1 cells to sequential increases in CrO3 concentration. The final concentration of CrO3 used for selection was 7 microM for Cr7 and 16 microM for Cr16 cells. Cr16-1 was a subclone derived from Cr16 cells. Next, these resistant cells were cultured in media without CrO3 for more than 6 months. The resistance of these cells to CrO3 was determined by colony-forming ability following a 24-h treatment. The LD50 of CrO3 for chromium(VI) resistant cells was at least 25-fold higher than that of the parental cells. The cellular growth rate, chromosome number, and the hprt mutation frequency of these chromium(VI) resistant cells were quite similar to their parental cells. The glutathione level, glutathione S-transferase, catalase activity, and metallothionine mRNA level in Cr7 and Cr16-1 cells were not significantly different from their parental cells. Furthermore, Cr16-1 cells were as sensitive as CHO-K1 cells to free-radical generating agents, including hydrogen peroxide, nickel chloride, and methanesulfonate methyl ester, and emetine, i.e., a protein synthesis inhibitor. The uptake of chromium(VI) and the remaining amount of this metal in these resistant and the parental cell lines were assayed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Experimental results indicated that a vastly smaller amount of CrO3 entered the resistant cell lines than their parental cells did. A comparison was made of the sulfate uptake abilities of CHO-K1 and chromium(VI) resistant cell lines. These results revealed that the uptake of sulfate anion was substantially reduced in Cr7 and Cr16-1 cells. Extracellular chloride reduced sulfate uptake in CHO-K1 but not in Cr16-1 cells. Therefore, the major causative for chromium(VI) resistance in these resistant cells could possibly be due to the defects in SO4(2-)/C1- transport system for uptake chromium(VI).

Abstract
Nucleophosmin/B23 is highly phosphorylated by cdc2 kinase during mitosis, and this phosphorylation most probably has a role in initiating and controlling the entry of cells into mitosis [Peter, Nakagawa, Doree, Labbe and Nigg (1990) Cell 60, 791-801]. In the present study, the protein kinase inhibitor staurosporine has been used to examine possible changes in nucleophosmin/B23 at mitosis in HeLa cells. Addition of staurosporine to HeLa cells already arrested at mitosis by nocodazole causes: (i) decreased accumulation of the mitosis-specific form of nucleophosmin/B23, (ii) dephosphorylation of nucleophosmin/ B23, (iii) redistribution of nucleophosmin/B23 to the cytosol, and (iv) concomitant decondensation of chromosomes. These results suggest that the mitosis-specific phosphorylated form of nucleophosmin/B23 may play a role in maintaining mitotic chromosomes in their condensed state.

Abstract
Deregulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) is implicated in the initiation and progression of gastric cancer (GC). Previous studies have demonstrated that miR-204 was downregulated in GC tissues. However, its expression profile in serum samples and its potential for clinical value remain unknown. Real-time PCR was performed to evaluate the expression level of serum miR-204 in patients with GC. The association between serum miR-204 expression level and the clinical outcome of GC was then investigated. Our results showed that the expression of miR-204 in serum samples from GC patients was significantly lower than that in the healthy controls (P < 0.01). Serum miR-204 expression level of GC patients was significantly upregulated after receiving surgical resection (P < 0.01). In addition, serum miR-204 was associated with lymph node metastasis (P = 0.016), tumor differentiation (P = 0.001), and TNM stage (P = 0.005). GC patients with low serum miR-204 expression had shorter overall survival than those with high serum miR-204 expression (P = 0.004). Multivariate analysis revealed that serum miR-204 expression level was an independent risk factor for this malignant disease (HR = 3.629, 95%CI = 2.828-8.146, P = 0.015). In conclusion, our findings indicate that serum miR-204 may be employed as a novel biomarker for monitoring the treatment response and predicting the prognosis of GC.

Abstract
Point mutations of p21 proteins were constructed by oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis of the v-rasH oncogene, which substituted amino acid residues within the nucleotide-binding consensus sequence, GXG GXGK. When the glycine residue at position 10, 13, or 15 was substituted with valine, the viral rasH product p21 lost its GTP-binding and autokinase activities. Other substitutions at position 33, 51, or 59 did not impair its binding activity. G418-resistant NIH 3T3 cell lines were derived by transfection with constructs obtained by inserting the mutant proviral DNA into the pSV2neo plasmid. Clones with a valine mutation at position 13 or 15 were incapable of transforming cells, while all other mutants with GTP-binding activity were competent. A mutant with a substitution of valine for glycine at position 10 which had lost its ability to bind GTP and its autokinase activity was fully capable of transforming NIH 3T3 cells. These cells grew in soft agar and rapidly formed tumors in nude mice. The p21 of cell lines derived from tumor explants still lacked the autokinase activity. These findings suggest that the glycine-rich consensus sequence is important in controlling p21 activities and that certain mutations may confer to p21 its active conformation without participation of ligand binding.

Abstract
We have introduced point mutations in v-rasH to study their effects on biochemical and biological properties of the ras-encoded protein p21. Several of these mutant proteins do not bind GTP and thus lack GTPase activity, while others were shown to have their GTP binding reduced. We have introduced these ras mutants into NIH 3T3 fibroblastoid cells to study major parameters of clinical importance which are associated with neoplastic transformation, particularly MHC expression in cells, metastasis and tumorigenesis in both nude mice and immune competent mice. Our data show that certain mutations in v-ras differentially affect the expression of the transformed phenotype. Mutant ras molecules deficient in GTP binding fail to generate rapidly progressing tumors in immune competent mice, and not all morphologically transformed cells were capable of experimental metastasis. Cells transformed by certain v-ras mutants form tumors in immunocompetent mice and show reduced expression of MHC class-I antigens. Other cells are morphologically transformed and tumorigenic in athymic nude mice, but fail to form tumors in normal mice and show levels of MHC class-I antigen expression similar to non-transformed 3T3 cells. The inverse relationship between MHC class-I-antigen expression and the degree of transformation in fibroblastoid cells suggests that the ras gene product could be involved in regulating MHC expression.

Abstract
Aims: Real‐time reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) assay based on a TaqMan‐minor groove binder (MGB) probe was developed for the rapid detection of avian influenza virus subtype H5. Methods and Results: Conserved regions in the haemagglutinin genes of avian influenza viruses subtype H5 served as targets for the primers and TaqMan‐MGB probe design. Concentrations of primers and probe were optimized to improve the sensitivity and specificity of the reactions. A plasmid containing the haemagglutinin gene was constructed and in vitro transcribed for a quantitative assay of copy numbers of the target gene. The results revealed that the optimal concentration of primers and probe was 640 and 480 nmol l−1, respectively. The threshold of 100 copies of target molecules could be detected. The linear range for detection was determined as 102 to 108 molecules in reaction. Conclusions: It took less than 3 h to complete the detection from viral RNA extraction, with good sensitivity and repeatability. Significance and Impact of the Study: Real‐time RT‐PCR assay with MGB probe was an effective means for quick and quantitative laboratory detection and monitoring of H5 avian influenza viruses.

Abstract
We performed a 1-year cluster-randomized field trial to assess the effect of standardized management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on lung function and quality of life (QOL) measures in patients in China. We used the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) treatment guidelines and assessed indexes including pulmonary function, QOL, quality-adjusted life years (QALY), Medical Research Council (MRC) dyspnea scale, 6-min walk distance (6-MWD), number of emergency visits, and frequency of hospitalization. Of a total of 711 patients with chronic cough and asthma, 132 were diagnosed as having COPD and 102 participated in this study [intervention group (N = 47); control group (N = 55)]. We found that adherence to GOLD guidelines had a perceivable impact on 6-MWD, MRC dyspnea scale score, and QOL. The average QALY increased by 1.42/person/year in the intervention group, but declined by 0.95/person/year in the control group. We conclude that standardized management improves disease severity, QOL, and QALY in COPD patients when treatment protocols adhere to GOLD guidelines.

Abstract
AIM Bacteriocins with antimicrobial activity are considered as potential natural bio-preservatives to control the growth of food spoilage bacteria. The aim of this work was to characterize a novel bacteriocin BM1029 discovered from Lactobacillus crustorum MN047 and evaluate its antibacterial mechanism. METHODS AND RESULTS Bacteriocin BM1029 was purified by cation-exchange chromatography and reversed-phase chromatography. Antibacterial activity assay showed that BM1029 is antagonistic against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Furthermore, it was found that BM1029 showed low haemolysis with high stability to the pretreatment with different temperatures, pH and surfactants. Moreover electron microscopy and flow cytometry suggested that BM1029 inhibit indicator strains by damaging the cell envelope integrity. Cell cycle assay suggested that BM1029 arrested cell cycle in R-phase. CONCLUSION The novel bacteriocin BM1029 showed high bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus through a cell envelope-associated mechanism. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY Application of BM1029 inhibited the growth of indicator strains on beef meat storage at 4°C suggesting that this bacteriocin is promising to be used as a novel preservative in food processing and preservation.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the median effective dose (ED(50)) of hydromorphone and the appropriate concentration of ropivacaine combined with hydromorphone in epidural labor analgesia. Methods: One hundred and forty nulliparous women undergoing labor selected for delivery with epidural analgesia were enrolled in our hospital from January to June 2016. The first of top 50 women received 0.12% ropivacaine plus 20 μg/ml hydromorphone complex solution, then sequential women were used the modified sequential method to determine the ED(50) and ED(95) of hydromorphone. The other 90 women were randomly divided and receieved 0.08% ropivacaine and 15 μg/ml hydromorphone(H1 group), 0.10% ropivacaine and 15 μg/ml hydromorphone (H2 group), 0.12% ropivacaine and 15 μg/ml hydromorphone (group H3) respectively for epidural labor analgesia. In the course of labor, block levels of epidural analgesia, the Bromage scores, analgesia scores and fetal heart rate-uterine concraction were monitored. In addition, onset time of anesthesia, labor time, mode of delivery, cases of increased oxytocin using, neonatal Apgar score, incidence of nausea and vomiting, itching and fetal heart reduction were recorded. Results: The ED(50) and ED(95) values of hydromorphone were 10.49 (95% CI: 8.89-11.79) and 15.15 (95% CI: 13.25-22.25) μg/ml respectively. Abstract
BACKGROUND The differentiation of intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) and embolism is important. OBJECTIVE In cases of ICAS, we observe a phenomenon that we call the "post-stent-deployment effect"; that is, all major branches are clearly visible beyond the occlusion segment when the stent is deployed at the site of occlusion. Our objective is to evaluates whether this post-stent-deployment effect can be used to differentiate ICAS from embolism in the distal M1 segment occlusion. METHODS We conduct a retrospective study which reviewed consecutive patients with acute distal M1 segment and in whom recanalization was achieved by endovascular treatment. The post-stent-deployment effect was assessed in these patients. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive values (PPV), and accuracy of the post-stent-deployment effect for prediction of ICAS were assessed. RESULTS From January 2015 to July 2018, a total of 80 patients were evaluated. The post-stent-deployment effect was more frequently observed in patients with ICAS than in those with embolism (100% vs 15.0%, P < .001). For identifying ICAS in distal M1 segment, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and accuracy of the post-stent-deployment effect were 100%, 85.0%, 69.0%, and 88.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION Our study finds that the sensitivity and accuracy of the post-stent-deployment effect in predicting distal M1 segment ICAS occlusion in patients with acute symptoms was high, and it may be useful in identifying ICAS lesion.

Abstract
Background Ventricular septal rupture (VSR) is a type of cardiac rupture, usually complicated by acute myocardial infarction (AMI), with a high mortality rate and often poor prognosis. The aim of our study was to investigate the factors influencing the long-term prognosis of patients with VSR from different aspects, comparing the evaluation performance of the Gensini score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score and European Heart Surgery Risk Assessment System II (EuroSCORE II) score systems. Methods This study retrospectively enrolled 188 patients with VSR between Dec 9, 2011 and Nov 21, 2021at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. All patients were followed up until Jan 27, 2022 for clinical data, angiographic characteristics, echocardiogram outcomes, intraoperative, postoperative characteristics and major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) (30-day mortality, cardiac readmission). Cox proportional hazard regression analysis was used to explore the predictors of long-term mortality. Results The median age of 188 VSR patients was 66.2 ± 9.1 years and 97 (51.6%) were males, and there were 103 (54.8%) patients in the medication group, 34 (18.1%) patients in the percutaneous transcatheter closure (TCC) group, and 51 (27.1%) patients in the surgical repair group. The average follow-up time was 857.4 days. The long-term mortality of the medically managed group, the percutaneous TCC group, and the surgical repair group was 94.2, 32.4, and 35.3%, respectively. Whether combined with cardiogenic shock (OR 0.023, 95% CI 0.001-0.054, P = 0.019), NT-pro BNP level (OR 0.027, 95% CI 0.002-0.34, P = 0.005), EuroSCORE II (OR 0.530, 95% CI 0.305-0.918, P = 0.024) and therapy group (OR 3.518, 95% CI 1.079-11.463, P = 0.037) were independently associated with long-term mortality in patients with VSR, and this seems to be independent of the therapy group. The mortality rate of surgical repair after 2 weeks of VSR was much lower than within 2 weeks (P = 0.025). The cut-off point of EuroSCORE II was determined to be 14, and there were statistically significant differences between the EuroSCORE II < 14 group and EuroSCORE II≥14 group (HR = 0.2596, 95%CI: 0.1800-0.3744, Logrank P < 0.001). Conclusion Patients with AMI combined with VSR have a poor prognosis if not treated surgically, surgical repair after 2 weeks of VSR is a better time. In addition, EuroSCORE II can be used as a scoring system to assess the prognosis of patients with VSR.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the mechanism of the intestinal barrier damage caused by Blastocystis hominis infections in rats. METHODS Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into the control group, and the 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-week-infection groups, of 6 rats in each group. Rats in each infection group were orally infected with B. hominis trophozoites at a density of 2 × 108 parasites per rat, and the control group was given an equal volume of phosphate buffered saline solution. The 7-hour urine samples were collected 1, 3, 6 and 9 weeks post-infection for the measurement of the intestinal permeability. Then, rats were sacrificed using the cervical dislocation method, and the cecum specimens were collected for the detection of the intestinal epithelial cell permeability. The expression of tight junction-related Occludin and Claudin - 1 genes and apoptosis-related Bcl - 2 and Bax genes was quantified in cecum epithelial cells using the real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay, and cell apoptosis was detected in the rat cecum using the TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. RESULTS The median urinary lactolose to mannitol ratios were 0.29, 0.72, 0.44, 0.46 and 0.38 in the control group, and the 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-week-infection groups, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (H = 12.09, P < 0.05). B. hominis invasion and epithelial injury were observed in intestinal epithelial cells of rats infected with B. hominis, and transmission electron microscopy displayed the destruction of tight junctions between intestinal epithelial cells. The relative expression of Occludin, Claudin-1, Bcl-2 and Bax genes was 1.04, 0.62, 0.71, 0.68 and 0.96; 1.03, 0.61, 0.63, 0.76 and 0.86; 1.08, 0.70, 0.75, 0.74 and 1.03; and 1.00, 1.57, 1.33, 1.35 and 1.10 in the control group and the 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-week-infection groups, respectively, and all differences were statistically significant (F = 2.86, 2.85, 3.37 and 4.45, all P values < 0.05). The median number of positive staining cells were 1.00, 13.00, 9.00, 3.50 and 1.00 in rat cecum specimens in the control group, and the 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-week-infection groups, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (H = 22.95, P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS B. hominis infection may cause an increase in the rat intestinal permeability through triggering the apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells to destroy the tight junction between intestinal epithelial cells, thereby destroying the intestinal barrier function.

Abstract
To explore the effects of future climate change on food production in Henan Province, the climate potential productivity and its change characteristics in Henan Province were calculated by agro-ecological zone (AEZ) model. This study was based on the production potential and climate resource carrying capacity of summer maize and winter wheat, combined with the observation data of 111 meteorological stations in Henan Province from 1961 to 2017 and the meteorological data under two emission scenarios of RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 in 2041-2080. With the grain demand index under different living standards, we analyzed climate carrying capacity and surplus space of Henan Pro-vince. The results showed that the average climatic potential productivity of maize was 18408.87 kg·hm-2 from 1961 to 2017, with high values in the middle and east, and low values in the west. Compared with the reference period (1981-2010), climatic potential productivity of maize under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 decreased by 13.0% and 8.0% respectively, with the high value center shifting from the east to the southwest of Henan. The average climatic potential productivity of wheat was 10889.79 kg·hm-2, which was high in the middle region and low in the north. Compared with the reference period, climatic potential productivity of wheat under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 decreased by 18.6% and 21.7%, respectively. Under the current condition of subsistence and well-off food demand, the maximum carrying capacity of climate resources respectively could support 252 million and 183 million people. In 2070s (2071-2080), the average supporting population of the maximum climate resource carrying capacity (Cmax) would decrease. Compared with the reference period, Cmax under the level of well-off and subsistence would decrease by 9.7% and 18.4% respectively in RCP4.5 scenario, and 7.7% and 16.6% respectively in RCP8.5 scenario. Under current climate condition, the relative surplus rate of climate resources in Henan Province ranged from -93.0% to 356.9%. Compared with the reference period, the relative residual rate of climate resources in the future would reduce nearly 40%.

Abstract
Referring to the definition of agricultural field N2O emission factor by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the main controlling factors climate and cropping system were introduced to estimate the chemical fertilizer N-induced direct N2O emission from China agricultural fields in 1991-2000, and a spatial inventory with 10 km x 10 km resolution was developed by dint of GIS framework. The results indicated that there was an increasing trend in the annual direct N2O emission, due to the increasing input of chemical fertilizer N. The mean annual emission in 1990s was estimated to be 204 Gg N2O-N, ranging from 159 to 269 Gg N2O-N, and the lowest and the highest emission occurred in 1992 and 1998, respectively. The uncertainty of the estimation was quantified to be about 23%. The spatial distribution of N2O emission was characterized by higher flux in eastern China and lower flux in western China, which was mainly attributed to the application rate of chemical fertilizer N and precipitation.
