Abstract
INTRODUCTION Early recognition of atypical dementia remains challenging partly because of lack of cognitive screening instruments precisely tailored for this purpose. METHODS We assessed the validity and reliability of the Dépistage Cognitif de Québec (DCQ; www.dcqtest.org), a newly developed cognitive screening test, to detect atypical dementia using a multicenter cohort of 628 participants. Sensitivity and specificity were compared to the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). A predictive diagnostic algorithm for atypical dementia was determined using classification tree analysis. RESULTS The DCQ showed excellent psychometric properties. It was significantly more accurate than the MoCA to detect atypical dementia. All correlations between DCQ indexes and standard neuropsychological measures were significant. A statistical model distinguished typical from atypical dementia with a predictive power of 79%. DISCUSSION The DCQ is a better tool to detect atypical dementia than standard cognitive screening tests. Expanding the clinician's tool kit with the DCQ could reduce missed/delayed identification of atypical dementia and accelerate therapeutic intervention.

Abstract
The presence of schistosomiasis mansoni is known in Martinique since the beginning of the XXth century. A general survey of the distribution of the disease was carried out in 1977 and showed a mean prevalence of 12% (coprology and serology taken together) in the whole of the island. Following this survey, an integrated control programme associating sanitary education, detection and treatment of patients and improved sanitation, was developed. In addition, a biological control programme against the intermediate snail host, Biomphalaria glabrata using the competitor snail, Melanoides tuberculata, was developed in the transmission sites. The decline of snail populations and of its parasite, as well as a strong reduction of the prevalence in humans were recorded between 1977 and 1996. At the present time, only few cases corresponding to older infections are detected. This epidemiological situation is quite different from that in Guadeloupe island where, in spite of an excellent control programme which was achieved on the Basse-Terre district, an important focus is still functioning on Grande-Terre district with the black rat as host reservoir. Such foci do not exist on Martinique island.

Abstract
A novel dead-end metabolite of Fusarium culmorum was isolated and characterized (Zamir, L. O., and Devor, K. A. (1987) J. Biol. Chem. 15348-15353). This 3 alpha, 13-dihydroxy-apotrichothec-9-ene is herein given the trivial name of apotrichodiol to indicate its basic structure. The characterization of apotrichodiol was established through the application of spectroscopic techniques (ultraviolet, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, COSY, and DEPT experiments) on the natural product as well as on its diacetate derivative. The mode of folding of its precursor farnesyl pyrophosphate was derived from feeding experiments with 3,4-[13C2]mevalonolactone. 13C-NMR assignments were also made of 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol and sambucinol which were derived from these feedings with enriched mevalonolactone.
