Abstract
BACKGROUND Ameloblastic fibro-dentinoma is considered a rare, benign, mixed odontogenic tumor that occurs mainly in the posterior mandible in the 1st-2nd decade of life. Although the clinical behavior of Ameloblastic fibro-dentinoma is similar to that of ameloblastic fibroma, there is a debate about whether Ameloblastic fibro-dentinoma is a developing hamartomatous odontoma or a separate neoplastic odontogenic tumor like ameloblastic fibroma. However, it is important to understand the histopathogenesis of this rare tumor. CASE PRESENTATION A case report presenting an 11-year-old male child with a swelling in the posterior mandible. Radiographic examination revealed a multilocular lesion with mixed radiodensity related to the impacted lower left second premolar tooth. Incisional biopsy was done, and microscopic examination revealed cords and nests of odontogenic follicles lined by ameloblast-like cells and central stellate reticulum-like cells in the primitive ecto-mesenchymal stroma with areas of dentinoid material and osteodentin. The diagnosis was ameloblastic fibro-dentinoma. Surgical excision of the lesion was done, and the patient was followed up for 1 year without evidence of recurrence. CONCLUSION Reporting such a rare entity clarifies the debate about its nature and the importance of early diagnosis of lesions that are associated with unerupted teeth showing how it is effective in early management and prognosis.

Abstract
Background The occurrence of hybrid odontogenic lesions with two or more morphologically distinct components is a rare phenomenon and poses a diagnostic challenge. We aimed to study the clinical, radiological, and pathological features and behavior of hybrid odontogenic lesions, to enhance awareness about these rare lesions. Method Hematoxylin and Eosin slides of hybrid odontogenic lesions diagnosed between January 01, 2012 and December 31, 2020, were reviewed. Demographic and radiological information were obtained from the patient's medical records. Results 8 cases were diagnosed with a mean age of 19.1 years and male to female ratio of 1:1.7. Involvement of mandible was more common (n = 5) as compared to maxilla (n = 3). All patients presented with swelling for an average of 9.75 months (3-25 months) duration. Bleeding, loose teeth, pain and facial asymmetry were reported in 5,3, 3, and 2 cases, respectively. Radiologically, 7 cases were well demarcated, 75% cases (n = 6) were radiolucent, and average radiological size was 4.8 cm. All patients were managed with surgery alone. 5 cases (62.5%) underwent enucleation and curettage, while local excision, en-block resection and segmental mandibulectomy were performed in 1 case each. Histologically, ossifying fibroma/cemento-ossifyiong fibroma were the most lesion, occurring in 5 cases (62%), followed by giant cell granuloma like lesions (GCG) i.e., central and peripheral giant cell granuloma (n = 3), Adenomatoid Odontogenic tumor (AOT) (n = 2), and DC (n = 2), ameloblastic fibroma (AF) (n = 1), Ameloblastoma (n = 1), calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) (n = 1), and complex odontoma (n = 1). No evidence of recurrence was noted after 4-99 months of surgery (mean: 32.9) in cases with available data (n = 7). Long-term complaints included facial asymmetry (n = 2) and pain (n = 1). Conclusion Most hybrid odontogenic lesions affect young females in the second decade of life and commonly show COF and OF as hybrid components. A conservative approach to management appears adequate.

Abstract
An ameloblastic fibroma with formation of dental hard tissues, which the classical name is ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO), is a rare type of mixed odontogenic tumor. An 8-year-old boy was diagnosed with AFO, with an inhomogeneous high signal within the lesion shown by T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed a unilocular low CT value area of 24 × 19 × 26 mm with buccolingual bony expansion and cortical bone thinning on the left side of the mandible including the crown of the mandibular left second molar. In addition, multiple calcified bodies were detected within the lesion, one of which had a CT value of approximately 2200 HU, equivalent to that of enamel. MRI indicated the lesion to be sized 24 × 19 × 25 mm along with buccolingual bony expansion in the left side of the mandible. Additionally, the lesion showed an internal inhomogeneous high signal, while a portion had an especially high signal in T2-weighted images. That particularly high signal area coincided with the nodular growth area of mucus-rich mesenchymal components without the epithelial component in histopathology findings. The particularly high signal revealed by T2-weighted imaging could be attributed to the mucus-rich component. MRI was found useful for revealing differences in the internal histopathological properties of an AFO in our patient.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) is an extremely rare malignant odontogenic tumor. It is composed of benign odontogenic epithelium, resembling that of ameloblastoma, and a mesenchymal part exhibiting features of fibrosarcoma. The development of this lesion in the jaws is either de novo or from preexisting ameloblastic fibroma which has been well documented. The most commonly affected site within the jaw is the posterior mandible. These tumors show local aggressiveness and a high tendency to recur. We present a case of a 33-year-old female patient with swelling of the right posterior mandible for 2 months and progressive paresthesia of the same region for the past 6 months. Patient's history revealed undergoing surgical enucleation for ameloblastic fibroma before a year in the same region as current swelling. Examination of the swelling revealed an ulceroprolifeartive Growth of 6 × 4.5 cm extending from premolar to molar region. Primary investigation involved biopsy of the swelling, which was reported as sarcoma for which resection of the right hemimandible and selective neck dissection was performed. Following surgery, the final histopathology report of the resected specimen was reported to be AFS. One year after the surgical procedure, the patient is clinically and radiologically disease-free. Considering the aggressive nature of these tumors, it is vital to give an accurate diagnosis through biopsy, which is considered as gold standard diagnostic evidence, so that the surgeon plans the appropriate therapeutic decision. Knowledge of this rare entity and its histologic features as opposed to the more common benign counterparts such as ameloblastoma or ameloblastic fibroma is crucial as the latter involves a conservative treatment approach while the former can only be treated through aggressive resections.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ameloblastic fibromas and ameloblastic fibrosarcomas are rare odontogenic tumors, and controversy exists in the classification of cases presenting hard-tissue production: Ameloblastic fibrodentinoma (AFD) and ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO). These cases are currently considered “developing odontomas” (hamartomatous lesions).
AIM To analyze the clinicopathologic features of these lesions and discuss the changes in the 2017 World Health Organization classification.
METHODS An electronic literature search was performed in the PubMed/MEDLINE database. An electronic search of the English language literature was performed and last updated in September 2020 in the PubMed/MEDLINE database using the following terms: “ameloblastic fibroma”, “ameloblastic fibrodentinoma”, “ameloblastic fibro-odontoma”, “ameloblastic sarcoma”, “ameloblastic fibrosarcoma”, “ameloblastic fibrodentinosarcoma”, “ameloblastic fibroodontosarcoma” and “odontogenic carcinosarcoma”. The inclusion criteria were odontogenic tumor series, case reports and systematic reviews that provided sufficient clinical, radiological and microscopic documentation to confirm the diagnosis.
RESULTS The database search strategy resulted in 947 papers. Articles focusing on other topics, articles that were not in English, duplicate articles, and articles without fulfilling the inclusion criteria were excluded. Finally, 96 publications were included in this review to describe and discuss the main features of the searched entities. Several aspects of AFO and AFD, such as biological behavior, age of occurrence, amount of hard tissue, and potential for malignant transformation into odontogenic sarcomas, support the neoplastic nature in most of the reported cases. Considering the clinical, radiographic, histopathological and molecular characteristics of odontogenic lesions with hard tissue production, we suggest that these types of lesions should continue to be recognized as odontogenic tumors by maintaining the classically used terms.
CONCLUSION This recommendation will be relevant for future clinical, microscopic, and molecular studies to better understand the biology of these interesting odontogenic tumors.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma is a rare tumor affecting the pediatric population and young adults. The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2005 defined it as “A neoplasm composed of proliferating odontogenic epithelium in a cellular ectomesenchymal tissue with varying degrees of inductive changes and dental hard tissue formation.” There exists a controversy on its histogenesis designating it as a hamartoma (developing complex odontoma [CO]) or a true neoplasm since both the lesions appear similar histologically. Recently, the WHO in 2017 has clubbed both these lesions as the same entity. Most cases are reported in males and in mandible, while cases in maxilla are scarce. This article describes a recurrence of a previously reported case of ameloblastic fibroma which showed maturation into AFO or CO in a girl aged 6 years in the posterior maxilla. This case is reported due to its rarity and a brief review with differential diagnosis is also discussed.

Abstract
Background Aberrant expression of stem cell markers has been observed in several types of neoplasms. This trait attributes to the acquired stem-like property of tumor cells and can impact patient prognosis. The objective of this study was to comparatively analyze the expression and significance of SOX2 and OCT4 in various types of odontogenic cysts and tumors. Methods Fifty-five cases of odontogenic cysts and tumors, including 15 ameloblastomas (AM), 5 adenomatoid odontogenic tumors (AOT), 5 ameloblastic fibromas (AF), 5 calcifying odontogenic cysts (COC), 10 dentigerous cysts (DC) and 15 odontogenic keratocysts (OKC) were investigated for the expression of SOX2 and OCT4 immunohistochemically. Results Most OKCs (86.7 %) and all AFs expressed SOX2 in more than 50 % of epithelial cells. Its immunoreactivity was moderate-to-strong in all epithelial cell types in both lesions. In contrast, SOX2 expression was undetectable in AOTs and limited to the ameloblast-like cells in a minority of AM and COC cases. Most DCs showed positive staining in less than 25 % of cystic epithelium. Significantly greater SOX2 expression was noted in OKC compared with DC or AM, and in AF compared with COC or AOT. OCT4 rarely expressed in odontogenic lesions with the immunoreactivity being mild and present exclusively in OKCs. Conclusions SOX2 is differentially expressed in odontogenic cysts and tumors. This could be related to their diverse cells of origin or stages of histogenesis. The overexpression of SOX2 and OCT4 in OKC indicates the acquired stem-like property. Future studies should investigate whether the overexpression of OCT4 and SOX2 contributes to the aggressive behaviors of the tumors.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) is the most common odontogenic sarcoma, but the incidence is relatively low, and its molecular biology is poorly understood. We experienced a young female patient with a rapidly growing soft tissue tumor of the left maxilla, which eventually occupied the left side of the oral cavity. Histologically, the tumor mainly consisted of a proliferation of atypical spindle to polygonal cells without any specific differentiation, but a small number of benign odontogenic epithelial foci mainly in the tumor periphery were also noted; thus, a diagnosis of AFS was made. We performed whole-exome sequencing (WES) on the tumor to investigate its molecular features and identify therapeutic options. We found that the tumor harbored EGFR exon 20 insertions and MDM2 amplification; the former may be a target for newly developed tyrosine kinase inhibitors in case of recurrence. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of AFS for which WES was performed and with EGFR mutation. Our case provides new genetic information on AFS and suggests that comprehensive genetic analysis can clarify the molecular biology in rare cancers, potentially leading to the proposal of therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
The World Health Organization (WHO) classification of odontogenic tumors, in its different iterations, has seen several modifications in benign mixed odontogenic tumors. Odontoma is a benign mixed odontogenic tumor that shows dental hard tissue formation to varying degrees. Although odontomas are the most common odontogenic tumors, they are mostly seen in the form of compound odontomas, where the dental hard tissues resemble tooth-like structures. Complex odontoma shows a haphazard mass of dental hard tissues and is generally identified at an older age (mean age of around 20 years). Incidence of complex odontoma in very young children is quite rare, with only around 10 cases associated with the primary dentition being reported in the literature till date. Unlike other odontomas, our case showed an active epithelial component in the form of tooth buds and ameloblastic follicles along with the hard tissues, which made it difficult to distinguish from other similar lesions like ameloblastic fibroma with hard tissue formation and ameloblastoma arising from an odontoma. This article reports the 11th case of complex odontoma associated with the primary dentition, and the youngest such case to be reported in the Indian population.

Abstract
This article reviews odontogenic and developmental oral lesions encountered in the gnathic region of pediatric patients. The process of odontogenesis is discussed as it is essential to understanding the pathogenesis of odontogenic tumors. The clinical presentation, microscopic features, and prognosis are addressed for odontogenic lesions in the neonate (dental lamina cysts/gingival cysts of the newborn, congenital (granular cell) epulis of the newborn, melanotic neuroectodermal tumor, choristoma/heterotopia, cysts of foregut origin), lesions associated with unerupted/erupting teeth (hyperplastic dental follicle, eruption cyst, dentigerous cyst, odontogenic keratocyst/keratocystic odonogenic tumor, buccal bifurcation cyst/inflammatory collateral cyst) and pediatric odontogenic hamartomas and tumors (odontoma, ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastoma, adenomatoid odontogenic tumor, primordial odontogenic tumor). Pediatric odontogenic and developmental oral lesions range from common to rare, but familiarity with these entities is essential due to the varying management implications of these diagnoses.

Abstract
An ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is a proliferative mixed tumor which includes components of both odontogenic epithelium and mesenchymal tissue. It is a relatively rare neoplasm, accounting for approximately only 1.5-4.5% of odontogenic tumors. This case report describes an AF that occurred in the mandibular anterior tooth region in a 9-year-old girl who presented with the chief complaint of swelling in the left mandibular anterior tooth region. Intraoral examination revealed a swelling along the labial gingiva, extending from the left mandibular lateral incisor region to the left mandibular canine. Upon palpation, the swelling appeared to comprise a hard tissue. Computed tomography revealed a supernumerary impacted tooth; soft tissue density in the bone surrounding the region extending from the left mandibular lateral incisor to the left mandibular canine; labial bone expansion; and thinning of the labial cortical bone. A biopsy was performed under local anesthesia and the lesion subsequently diagnosed as an AF. Tumor resection and extraction of the supernumerary impacted tooth were carried out under general anesthesia. At 2 years postoperatively the prognosis is good. Although relapse with an AF is rarer than that with an ameloblastoma, strict follow-up is required, as malignant transformation to an ameloblastic fibrosarcoma has been reported in relapsed cases.

Abstract
Calcifying odontogenic cyst is an uncommon odontogenic lesion that represents less than 2% of all odontogenic cysts and tumors. It usually occurs in incisor and canine areas during the second to fourth decades of life. It can be associated with other lesions like odontoma, ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastoma, adenomatoid odontogenic tumors, odontoameloblastoma, and odontogenic myxoma. Ameloblastic fibroma is a truly mixed tumor usually diagnosed within the posterior mandible during the first two decades of life. In the present article, a hybrid odontogenic tumor composed of calcifying odontogenic cyst and ameloblastic fibroma in a 14-year-old white Persian female is described.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma are rare mixed tumors composed by both epithelial and mesenchymal tissues. They mostly affect the posterior mandibular sector in young adults. Here we report an atypical case affecting a very young patient in an unusual localization. We describe the management of the case and discuss the origin of this little know lesion.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) now designated as odontogenic sarcoma is a malignant odontogenic tumor characteristically composed of a benign epithelium and a malignant mesenchymal component. It can arise de novo without any preexisting lesion or it can result from the malignant transformation of ameloblastic fibroma (AF). Hereby, we report an extremely rare case of odontogenic sarcoma which was transformed from AF over a period of about 2 years. This is the first case to be reported after it has been reclassified as odontogenic sarcoma. A systematic review was also done to evaluate the studies that reported AFS arising de novo and AFS arising from AF. The objective of this study is to systematically review the studies that reported AFS arising de novo and AFS arising from AF. Articles that reported AFS arising de novo and AFS arising from AF were collected from PubMed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane, Google search and manual search. The results of the systematic review showed that six studies (46.1%) reported AFS arised de novo with no previous history of AF. Seven studies (53.84%) reported that amelobastic fibrosarcoma arised from AF. A rare case of odontogenic sarcoma transformed from AF is reported here. This is the first case report to be published on odontogenic sarcoma after the World Health Organization reclassification. AF once diagnosed should be treated immediately without any delay to avoid the chances of its malignant transformation into odontogenic sarcoma.

Abstract
Claudins are integral to the structure and function of tight junctions. Altered claudin expression has been shown to affect disease behavior and patient prognosis in various neoplasms. The objectives of this study were to analyze the claudin-1, -4 and -7 expression in odontogenic tumors and characterize their expression pattern in distinct tumor cell types in relation to the recurrence potential. Sixty-nine cases of odontogenic tumors, including 43 ameloblastomas (AM), 17 adenomatoid odontogenic tumors (AOT), 6 ameloblastic fibromas (AF) and 3 ameloblastic carcinomas (AC) were investigated for claudin-1, -4 and -7 expression immunohistochemically. The staining was analyzed semi-quantitatively and categorized into 4 levels, based on the percentage of positively stained neoplastic epithelial cells. Claudin-1 was expressed in all AOT and AF cases, whereas most AC (66.7%) showed no expression. The claudin-1 staining was moderate-to-intense in the odontogenic epithelium of AF. In contrast, its staining of ameloblast-like cells and stellate reticulum-like cells in AM was weak. Claudin-7 expression was noted in all tumor types studied, while the expression of claudin-4 was limited and mainly localized in the squamous differentiated cells of AM and AC. AM showed significantly higher claudin-4, but lower claudin-7 expression than AOT. In addition, AC showed diminished claudin-1 immunoreactivity, compared to AOT. Low claudin-1 expression in AM was significantly associated with the increased clinical recurrence. The loss of claudin-1 may underlie the locally invasive nature of AM.

Abstract
An ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is a benign mixed odontogenic tumor that mainly affects patients in the first and second decades of life. It is usually associated with an impacted tooth, commonly the first or second permanent molar. We present a case of an 11-year-old male patient diagnosed with AF, showing well-defined borders almost completely affecting the body and inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) branch on the right side of the mandible and displacing teeth 46 and 47 associated with the lesion. The treatment included conservative surgery, with oral rehabilitation, including IAN lateralization, implant placement without sensorial alteration, and posterior rehabilitation, performed after 10 years of follow-up. Rehabilitation with implants is a safe and effective procedure for the prosthetic rehabilitation of the posterior atrophic mandible. However, sensorial alteration of the IAN occurs in 100% of cases and tends to regress with time or may be permanent in few cases.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma is a rare, slow-growing odontogenic mixed tumor with neoplastic epithelial and ectomesenchymal tissue, which does not show inductive changes to form enamel and dentin. It is frequently found in the first two decades of life. It is often confused with ameloblastoma and dentigerous cyst due to the presence of an impacted tooth and can be distinguished histologically. Ameloblastic fibroma can be differentiated from ameloblastoma by the presence of myxoid appearance of connective tissue. A case of an 11-year-old female with a slow-growing swelling on the left side of mandible in the molar ramus region has been presented which was diagnosed as ameloblastic fibroma postenucleation.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) is a rare malignant odontogenic tumour classified by the WHO (1992) as an odontogenic sarcoma and defined as “a neoplasm with a similar structure to ameloblastic fibroma (AF) but in which the ectomesenchymal component shows the features of a sarcoma.” The first report of AFS was published by Heath in 1887. AFS and related lesions are less frequently diagnosed than odontogenic carcinomas. Approximately two-thirds of AFSs seem to arise de novo, but others have developed in recurrent AF, in which the ectomesenchymal cells retain their embryonic appearance and develop malignant characteristics. We report a rare case of an aggressive odontogenic neoplasm, the incisional biopsy of which showed the features of AF, while the excisional biopsy revealed the features of malignancy, suggestive of AFS. The purpose of this report is to discuss the diagnostic difficulties, whether AFS is truly an extremely rare tumour as reported earlier and, lastly, should the treatment protocols of AFs be revised, as 44% of AFSs arise from recurrent AFs.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma is a rare mixed odontogenic tumor of the jaw comprising 2.5% of all odontogenic tumors. It is most commonly seen in young adults as a gradually increasing swelling in the jaw. Treatment considered is meticulous enucleation and curettage of surrounding bone. This study presents a case of ameloblastic fibroma in a 15-year-old female patient with a swelling on the right side of the mandible which was managed by enucleation and curettage.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a rare benign odontogenic tumor with the histologic features of ameloblastic fibroma (AF) but also contains enamel and dentin. It is most commonly observed in the pediatric population. Distinction between AFO and AF becomes important as ameloblastic fibromas are associated with higher recurrence rates of up to 18%, and 35% of these recurrent lesions can undergo malignant transformation to ameloblastic fibrosarcoma. Hence, for amelobastic fibroma, conservative curettage is recommended for the initial lesion and marginal resection is considered for recurrent cases. In contrast, AFO can be treated with simple curettage and the recurrence rate is approximately seven percent. Malignant transformation of AFO is exceedingly rare. Therefore, the treatment and prognosis differs for these two histologically similar neoplasms. We present a case of a 17-year-old boy who was initially diagnosed with ameloblastic fibroma upon biopsy, with subsequent curettage specimen showing AFO, which carries a better prognosis.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) and ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) are mixed odontogenic tumors (odontogenic tumors with induction) that are reported only rarely in dogs. These tumors are histologically complex and, to a degree, recapitulate the early stages of tooth development, comprising 2 types of tissue: neoplastic odontogenic epithelium, and induced ectomesenchyme (dental pulp). AFOs are distinguished from AFs by the additional presence of hard dental matrices such as dentin. Herein, we describe the key diagnostic features of AF and AFO in 4 young dogs.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is rare benign odontogenic tumour which usually occurs in the first two decades of life. It can occur either the mandible or maxilla but it is most frequently found in the posterior region of the mandible. Treatment of AF in usual is a conservative approach, such as enucleation and curettage but the aggressive lesions require a radical approach. A more radical approach should be considered in older patients who have likely high recurrence tendency. This report describes a case of AF in a 38-year-old female patient identified during a routine radiographic exam. Tomographic examination through three-dimensional reconstruction indicated vestibular fenestration of the cortical bone, with involvement of lingual cortical bone as the lession extended to the posterior region. We removed the tumor under local anesthesia. In this case patient has continued to be followed frequently and has been disease-free for 3 years.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is an uncommon true mixed odontogenic tumor, with a relative frequency between 1.5% and 4.5% of all odontogenic tumors. It may behave either as a true neoplasm or as a hamartomatous proliferation of odontogenic epithelium of the enamel organ and odontogenic mesenchyme of the primitive dental pulp. Frequently diagnosed between the first and second decades of life with 75% of cases was diagnosed before the age of 20 and present with a well-defined unilocular or multilocular radiolucencies. A conservative approach, enucleation with curettage, and long-term follow-up are absolutely necessary for any recurrence or change to fibrosarcoma. We report a case of AF in a 10-year-old male patient who presented with a chief complaint of swelling in the right mandibular posterior region. Enucleation and curettage were done under general anesthesia, followed by immunohistochemical markers (Ki-67, Mib-1) to assess the sarcomatous changes and aggressiveness of the tumor.

Ghost cells have been a controversy for a long time. Ghost cell is a swollen/enlarged epithelial cell with eosnophilic cytoplasm, but without a nucleus. In routine H and E staining these cells give a shadowy appearance. Hence these cells are also called as shadow cells or translucent cells. The appearance of these cells varies from lesion to lesion involving odontogenic and nonodontogenic lesions. This article review about the origin, nature and significance of ghost cells in different neoplasms.

Abstract
Spontaneous odontogenic tumors are neoplasms characterized by a mixed odontogenic ectomesenchymal and odontogenic epithelial origin; they are rare in both humans and animals. A 3-year-old male Alpine Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) was found dead in north-west Italy, and was referred for the necropsy to the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Turin (Italy). At the external examination a 10 × 8 cm, exophytic, red-pink, smooth, firm and ulcerated mass was observed on the inferior lip. Histologically the tumor was characterized by spindle shaped cells arranged in bundles in an abundant hyaline matrix. Multifocal and rare chords of odontogenic epithelium mixed with rare melanocytes that penetrate the neoplasia were visible. Immunohistochemistry showed a clear cytokeratin positivity of epithelial clusters. Macroscopical, histological and immunohistochemical findings were consistent with a diagnosis of locally infiltrative ameloblastic fibroma. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of this tumor in a wild ungulate and in Alpine Chamois.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is a relatively rare, slow growing benign mixed odontogenic tumor, comprising of 1.5-4.5% of all odontogenic tumors. It is usually asymptomatic except for the eventual expansion of the jaw. AFs are most common in adolescents and young adults, mostly affecting the mandible as a well-defined uni or multilocular radiolucency. The effective surgical treatment includes enucleation and curettage of the surrounding bone and removal of the affected teeth. Although recurrence of AF is rare, a long term follow up is recommended. This report describes a 1-year-old girl with AF in the mandible and discusses its clinical, radiographic and histological findings.

This lesion was previously considered to be a benign lesion with very limited recurrence rate and malignant transformation. Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma and related lesions constitute a group of lesions, which range in biologic behaviour from true neoplasms to hamartomas. This group of lesions is also sometimes referred to as mixed odontogenic tumors and usually includes ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastic fibrodentinoma and ameloblastic fibro-odontoma. Despite numerous efforts however, there is still considerable confusion concerning the nature and interrelationship of these mixed odontogenic tumors and related lesions. The malignant counterpart of these lesions namely aameloblastic fibrosarcoma, ameloblastic dentinosarcoma and ameloblastic odontosarcoma respectively are said to arise secondarily in their benign counterpart or de novo. Recurrence of the benign lesion raises the risk towards malignant transformation therefore a radical surgery should be planned inspite of enucleation or curettage. Here we present a case of an aggressive ameloblastic fibrodentinoma which was radically excised in the light of clinical and histological presentation followed by reconstruction of mandible.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is an uncommon true mixed odontogenic tumor with a relative frequency between 1.5% and 4.5%. Recently, it has been proposed that two subtypes of AF exist: A neoplasm and a hamartomatous lesion. We report a case of AF in left mandibular posterior region in a 6-year-old male patient. The tumor showed unusual and aggressive features that suggested it was a true neoplasm.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibroma (AF) is a rare odontogenic tumour of the jaw which usually occurs in the first 2 decades of life. The common clinical manifestation is a slow-growing swelling. We report a case of a 16-year-old male patient presenting with extensive AF of the mandible. He underwent a conservative enucleation. The tumour recurred 2 years after the initial surgery, requiring the second enucleation. The patient has continued to be followed closely and has been disease-free for 4 years. Recent evidence suggests that the recurrent rate of AF is relatively high, and malignant transformation of AF may occur after recurrences or multiple surgeries. A conservative treatment approach with close surveillance is recommended. Anatomical limitations should be taken into account, especially when enucleation of AF in the posterior portion of the jaw is performed. Current surgical pathologic issues of the tumour are also discussed.
