Fixed-time synchronization of complex-valued neural networks for image protection and 3D point cloud information protection

This paper studies the fixed-time synchronization (FDTS) of complex-valued neural networks (CVNNs) based on quantized intermittent control (QIC) and applies it to image protection and 3D point cloud information protection. A new controller was designed which achieved FDTS of the CVNNs, with the estimation of the convergence time not dependent on the initial state. Our approach divides the neural network into two real-valued systems and then combines the framework of the Lyapunov method to give criteria for FDTS. Applying synchronization to image protection, the image will be encrypted with a drive system sequence and decrypted with a response system sequence. The quality of image encryption and decryption depends on the synchronization error. Meanwhile, the depth image of the object is encrypted and then the 3D point cloud is reconstructed based on the decrypted depth image. This means that the 3D point cloud information is protected. Finally, simulation examples verify the efficacy of the controller and the synchronization criterion, giving results for applications in image protection and 3D point cloud information protection.

Stability and synchronization for complex-valued neural networks with stochastic parameters and mixed time delays

In this paper, a class of complex-valued neural networks (CVNNs) with stochastic parameters and mixed time delays are proposed. The random fluctuation of system parameters is considered in order to describe the implementation of CVNNs more practically. Mixed time delays including distributed delays and time-varying delays are also taken into account in order to reflect the influence of network loads and communication constraints. Firstly, the stability problem is investigated for the CVNNs. In virtue of Lyapunov stability theory, a sufficient condition is deduced to ensure that CVNNs are asymptotically stable in the mean square. Then, for an array of coupled identical CVNNs with stochastic parameters and mixed time delays, synchronization issue is investigated. A set of matrix inequalities are obtained by using Lyapunov stability theory and Kronecker product and if these matrix inequalities are feasible, the addressed CVNNs are synchronized. Finally, the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results is demonstrated by two numerical examples.

Global synchronization of complex-valued neural networks with unbounded time-varying delays

This paper investigates global synchronization of complex-valued neural networks (CVNNs) with unbounded time-varying delays. By applying analytical method and inequality techniques, an algebraic criterion is established to ensure global synchronization of the CVNNs via a devised feedback controller, which generalizes some existing outcomes. Finally, two numerical simulations and one application in image encryption are provided to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

A new predefined-time stability theorem and its application in the synchronization of memristive complex-valued BAM neural networks

In this paper, two novel and general predefined-time stability lemmas are given and applied to the predefined-time synchronization problem of memristive complex-valued bidirectional associative memory neural networks (MCVBAMNNs). Firstly, different from the generally fixed-time stability lemma, the setting of an adjustable time parameter in the derived predefined-time stability lemma causes it to be more flexible and more general. Secondly, the model studied in the complex-valued BAM neural networks model, which is different from the previous discussion of the real part and imaginary part respectively. It is more practical to study the complex-valued nonseparation. Thirdly, two effective controllers are designed to realize the synchronization performance of BAM neural networks based on the predefined-time stability, and the analysis is given based on general predefined-time synchronization. Finally, the correctness of the theoretical derivation is verified by numerical simulation. A secure communication scheme based on predefined-time synchronization of MCVBAMNNs is proposed, and the effectiveness and superiority of the results are proved.

Event-based master-slave synchronization of complex-valued neural networks via pinning impulsive control

This paper investigates the synchronization problem of complex-valued neural networks via event-triggered pinning impulsive control (ETPIC). A time-delayed pinning impulsive controller is proposed based on three levels of event-triggered conditions. By employing the Lyapunov functional method and differential inequality technique, sufficient delay-dependent synchronization criteria are derived under the proposed ETPIC scheme. The obtained result shows that synchronization of master and slave complex-valued neural networks can be achieved even if the sizes of delays exceed the length of intervals between any two consecutive impulsive instants determined by Lyapunov-based event-triggered conditions in the proposed control strategy. Moreover, the linear matrix inequality approach is utilized to exclude Zeno behavior. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

H∞ estimation for stochastic semi-Markovian switching CVNNs with missing measurements and mode-dependent delays

This article is devoted to the H_∞ estimation problem for stochastic semi-Markovian switching complex-valued neural networks subject to incomplete measurement outputs, where the time-varying delay also depends on another semi-Markov process. A sequence of random variables with known statistical property is introduced to depict the missing measurement phenomenon. Based on the generalized Itoˆ's formula in complex form concerning with the semi-Markovian systems, complex-valued reciprocal convex inequality as well as intensive stochastic analysis method, some mode-dependent sufficient conditions are presented guaranteeing the estimation error system to be exponentially mean-square stable with a prespecified H_∞ disturbance attenuation level. In addition, the mode-dependent estimator gain matrices are appropriately designed according to the feasible solutions of certain complex matrix inequalities. In the end, one numerical example is provided to illustrate effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Improved approach to the problem of the global Mittag-Leffler synchronization for fractional-order multidimension-valued BAM neural networks based on new inequalities

This paper studies the problem of the global Mittag-Leffler synchronization for fractional-order multidimension-valued BAM neural networks (FOMVBAMNNs) with general activation functions (AFs). First, the unified model is established for the researched systems of FOMVBAMNNs which can be turned into the corresponding multidimension-valued systems as long as the state variables, the connection weights and the AFs of the neural networks are valued to be real, complex, or quaternion. Then, without any decomposition, the criteria in unified form are derived by constructing the new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) in vector form, combining two new inequalities and considering the easy controllers. It is worth mentioning that the obtained criteria have many advantages in higher flexibility, more diversity, smaller computation, and lower conservatism. Finally, a simulation example is provided to illustrate the availability and improvements of the acquired results.

Synchronization stability of memristor-based complex-valued neural networks with time delays

This paper focuses on the dynamical property of a class of memristor-based complex-valued neural networks (MCVNNs) with time delays. By constructing the appropriate Lyapunov functional and utilizing the inequality technique, sufficient conditions are proposed to guarantee exponential synchronization of the coupled systems based on drive-response concept. The proposed results are very easy to verify, and they also extend some previous related works on memristor-based real-valued neural networks. Meanwhile, the obtained sufficient conditions of this paper may be conducive to qualitative analysis of some complex-valued nonlinear delayed systems. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

Global asymptotic stability of complex-valued neural networks with additive time-varying delays

In this paper, we extensively study the global asymptotic stability problem of complex-valued neural networks with leakage delay and additive time-varying delays. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and applying newly developed complex valued integral inequalities, sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of proposed neural networks are established in the form of complex-valued linear matrix inequalities. This linear matrix inequalities are efficiently solved by using standard available numerical packages. Finally, three numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Multistability of complex-valued neural networks with discontinuous activation functions

In this paper, based on the geometrical properties of the discontinuous activation functions and the Brouwer's fixed point theory, the multistability issue is tackled for the complex-valued neural networks with discontinuous activation functions and time-varying delays. To address the network with discontinuous functions, Filippov solution of the system is defined. Through rigorous analysis, several sufficient criteria are obtained to assure the existence of 25ⁿ equilibrium points. Among them, 9ⁿ points are locally stable and 16ⁿ-9ⁿ equilibrium points are unstable. Furthermore, to enlarge the attraction basins of the 9ⁿ equilibrium points, some mild conditions are imposed. Finally, one numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

A new approach for automatic sleep scoring: Combining Taguchi based complex-valued neural network and complex wavelet transform

Automatic classification of sleep stages is one of the most important methods used for diagnostic procedures in psychiatry and neurology. This method, which has been developed by sleep specialists, is a time-consuming and difficult process. Generally, electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are used in sleep scoring. In this study, a new complex classifier-based approach is presented for automatic sleep scoring using EEG signals. In this context, complex-valued methods were utilized in the feature selection and classification stages. In the feature selection stage, features of EEG data were extracted with the help of a dual tree complex wavelet transform (DTCWT). In the next phase, five statistical features were obtained. These features are classified using complex-valued neural network (CVANN) algorithm. The Taguchi method was used in order to determine the effective parameter values in this CVANN. The aim was to develop a stable model involving parameter optimization. Different statistical parameters were utilized in the evaluation phase. Also, results were obtained in terms of two different sleep standards. In the study in which a 2nd level DTCWT and CVANN hybrid model was used, 93.84% accuracy rate was obtained according to the Rechtschaffen & Kales (R&K) standard, while a 95.42% accuracy rate was obtained according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standard. Complex-valued classifiers were found to be promising in terms of the automatic sleep scoring and EEG data.

Convergence analysis of fully complex backpropagation algorithm based on Wirtinger calculus

This paper considers the fully complex backpropagation algorithm (FCBPA) for training the fully complex-valued neural networks. We prove both the weak convergence and strong convergence of FCBPA under mild conditions. The decreasing monotonicity of the error functions during the training process is also obtained. The derivation and analysis of the algorithm are under the framework of Wirtinger calculus, which greatly reduces the description complexity. The theoretical results are substantiated by a simulation example.
