Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes two types of external genital lesions (EGLs) in men: genital warts (condyloma) and penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PeIN). OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to describe genital HPV progression to a histopathologically confirmed HPV-related EGL. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS A prospective analysis nested within the HPV Infection in Men (HIM) study was conducted among 3033 men. At each visit, visually distinct EGLs were biopsied; the biopsy specimens were subjected to pathologic evaluation and categorized by pathologic diagnoses. Genital swabs and biopsies were used to identify HPV types using the Linear Array genotyping method for swabs and INNO-LiPA for biopsy specimens. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS EGL incidence was determined among 1788 HPV-positive men, and cumulative incidence rates at 6, 12, and 24 mo were estimated. The proportion of HPV infections that progressed to EGL was also calculated, along with median time to EGL development. RESULTS AND LIMITATIONS Among 1788 HPV-positive men, 92 developed an incident EGL during follow-up (9 PeIN and 86 condyloma). During the first 12 mo of follow-up, 16% of men with a genital HPV 6 infection developed an HPV 6-positive condyloma, and 22% of genital HPV 11 infections progressed to an HPV 11-positive condyloma. During the first 12 mo of follow-up, 0.5% of men with a genital HPV 16 infection developed an HPV 16-positive PeIN. Although we expected PeIN to be a rare event, the sample size for PeIN (n=10) limited the types of analyses that could be performed. CONCLUSIONS Most EGLs develop following infection with HPV 6, 11, or 16, all of which could be prevented with the 4-valent HPV vaccine. PATIENT SUMMARY In this study, we looked at genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infections that can cause lesions in men. The HPV that we detected within the lesions could be prevented by a vaccine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Between 2007 and 2011, opportunistic HPV-vaccination was available in Sweden and partially subsidized to girls aged 13-17, reaching a ∼30% overall coverage. METHODS All Swedish women/men aged 15-44 were followed between 2006 and 2012 for condyloma. Average annual percent changes (AAPCs) in incidence were estimated. RESULTS Substantial decreases were seen in women aged 15-24 from 2008-onwards (AACP-range: -8.5% to -18.5%); similar effects were seen for men aged 15-29 (AACP-range: -7.0% to -16.6%) from 2010-onwards. DISCUSSION Despite low population vaccination coverage in women and no coverage in men, similar condyloma incidence reductions were observed among men and women, with delays of >1 years in men.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION No hierarchy of first-line treatments for anogenital warts (AGWs) is provided in international guidelines. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of topical treatments and ablative procedures for the management of AGWs. METHODS Twelve electronic databases were systematically searched from inception to August 2018. All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing immunocompetent adults with AGWs who received at least 1 provider-administered or patient-administered treatment in at least 1 parallel group were included. Risk of bias assessment followed the Cochrane Handbook. The study endpoint was complete lesion response after clearance and recurrence assessment. A network meta-analysis was performed. RESULTS A network geometry was constructed based on 49 of the 70 RCTs included in our systematic review. All but 4 RCTs had a high risk of bias. The most efficacious treatments compared to placebo were surgery (RR 10.54; CI 95% 4.53-24.52), ablative therapy + imiquimod (RR 7.52; CI 95% 4.53-24.52), and electrosurgery (RR 7.10; CI 95% 3.47-14.53). SUCRA values confirmed the superiority of surgery (90.9%), ablative therapy + imiquimod (79.8%), and electrosurgery (77.1%). The most efficacious patient-administered treatments were podophyllotoxin 0.5% solution (63.5%) and podophyllotoxin 0.5% cream (62.2%). CONCLUSIONS With low-level evidence of most included RCTs, surgery and electrosurgery were superior to other treatments after clearance and recurrence assessment. Podophyllotoxin 0.5% was the most efficacious patient-administered treatment. Combined therapies should be evaluated in future RCTs in view of their identified effectiveness. The results of future RCTs should systematically include clinical type, number and location of AGWs, and sex of the patient, to refine therapeutic indications. Abstract
Heck's disease (focal or multifocal epithelial hyperplasia) is a benign, rare condition of the skin and mucous membranes induced by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Other entities that can induce large papillomatous lesions that involve the mucous membranes and skin include condyloma acuminatum, which is sexually transmitted, and white sponge nevus, often due to a mutation of cytokeratin 4 or 13. Six cases diagnosed as either Heck's disease (n = 2) or white sponge nevus (n = 4) and 6 oral condyloma were compared on histologic grounds and analyzed in situ for HPV DNA, including HPVs 6,11, and 13, as well as cytokeratins 4 and 13. Each case showed marked acanthosis, and para/hyperkeratosis. More variable histologic findings included rete ridge elongation, keratinocyte degeneration, and perinuclear halos. High copy HPV 13 DNA was evident in the squamous cells towards the surface in the two cases diagnosed as Heck's disease and in two cases diagnosed as white sponge nevus on clinical grounds. HPV 6/11 was found in each of the six condyloma. Marked decrease in either cytokeratin 4 or 13 was evident in the two cases diagnosed as white sponge nevus that were HPV DNA negative. It is concluded that in situ hybridization analyses including HPVs 6, 11, and 13 as well as immunohistochemistry for cytokeratins 4 and 13 can differentiate Heck's disease from condyloma and white sponge nevus, which can be difficult to differentiate on clinical and histologic grounds.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to determine the incidence of external genital lesions (EGLs), specifically histologically confirmed condyloma (genital warts) and Penile Intraepithelial Neoplasia (PeIN), and genital HPV infection progression to EGLs among healthy men aged 18-73 residing in Brazil. Subjects included 1118 men enrolled in the HPV Infection in Men (HIM) study between July 2005 and June 2009. At each visit, EGLs were biopsied and subjected to pathological evaluation. HPV status in genital swabs and biopsies was determined by Linear Array and INNO-LiPA, respectively. Age-specific EGLs incidence and the proportion and median time to EGL development were estimated. Kaplan-Meier cumulative incidence rates at 6, 12, and 24 months were determined. During follow-up, 73 men developed an incident EGL. Men could develop multiple EGLs and there were 36 men with condyloma, 27 men with lesions suggestive of condyloma, six men with PeIN, and 20 men with non-HPV lesions. HPV-positive men who developed EGLs were younger (p=0.002) than men that did not develop lesions. Among the 815 men with HPV infection, 4% progressed to EGL with the same HPV detected in the swab. During follow up, 15.7% of genital HPV-6 and HPV-11 infections progressed to condyloma (median progression time of nine months for HPV-6 versus 6.8 months for HPV-11). Approximately 1% of HPV-16 infections progressed to PeIN with a median progression time of 25 months. HPV types covered by the 4-valent HPV vaccine were detected in 82.3% and 83.3% of condyloma and PeIN, respectively. The high burden of HPV and high frequency of progression to disease underscores the need to offer HPV prophylactic vaccination to men to reduce the overall burden of infection and diseases caused by HPV.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cutaneous human papillomaviruses (HPVs) increase the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer in sun-exposed skin. We examined the role of beta-HPV in the development of male external genital lesions (EGLs), a sun-unexposed site. METHODS In this nested case-control study (67 men with pathologically-confirmed EGLs and 134 controls), exfoliated cells collected from the surface of lesions and normal genital skin 0, 6, and 12 months preceding EGL development were tested for beta-HPV DNA using a type-specific multiplex genotyping assay. Beta-HPV prevalence was estimated and conditional logistic regression was used to evaluate the association with condyloma, the most common EGL. RESULTS While beta-HPV prevalence among controls remained stable, the prevalence among cases was lowest on the surface of lesion. Detecting beta-HPV on the normal genital skin was not associated with the presence or development of condyloma. CONCLUSIONS Cutaneous beta-HPV does not appear to be contributing to pathogenesis in male genital skin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Loss of a loved one has consistently been associated with various health risks. Little is however known about its relation to sexually transmitted infections (STIs). METHODS We conducted a population-based cohort study during 1987-2012 using the Swedish Multi-Generation Register, including 3,002,209 women aged 10-44 years. Bereavement was defined as death of a child, parent, sibling or spouse (N = 979,579, 33 %). STIs were defined as hospital visits with an STI as main or secondary diagnosis. Poisson regression and negative binomial regression were used to estimate incidence rate ratios (IRRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) of STIs, comparing incidence rates of women who had experienced loss to those who had not. RESULTS Bereaved women were at significantly higher risk of nearly all STIs studied. The relative risk of any STI was highest during the first year after loss (IRR: 1.45, 95 % CI: 1.27-1.65) and predominantly among women with subsequent onset of psychiatric disorders after bereavement (IRR: 2.61, 95 % CI: 2.00-3.34). Notably, a consistent excess risk, persisting for over five years, was observed for acute salpingitis (IRR: 1.28, 95 % CI: 1.13-1.44), a severe complication of bacterial STIs. CONCLUSION These data suggest that women who have experienced bereavement are at increased risk of STIs.

Abstract
Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are the most common sexually-transmitted virus, and carcinogenic HPV strains are reported to be responsible for virtually all cases of cervical cancer and its precursor, the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). About 30% of the sexually active population are considered to be affected by HPV. Around 600 million people are estimated to be infected worldwide. Diseases related to HPV cause significant impact from both the personal welfare point of view and public healthcare perspective. This resource letter collects relevant information regarding HPV-induced lesions and discusses both diagnosis and treatment, with particular attention to optical techniques and the challenges involved to the implementation of those approaches.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anogenital warts are a common human papillomavirus infection. They cause emotional distress, especially when they are in the anogenital region. Cryotherapy is a first-line treatment. Previous clinical trials and case series have reported variable results with retinoids (isotretinoin) as adjuvant therapy. OBJECTIVE To determine the safety and efficacy of low-dose oral isotretinoin as adjuvant treatment of anogenital warts. METHODS Forty-six patients with anogenital warts were randomly assigned to isotretinoin + cryotherapy (n = 23) or only cryotherapy (n = 23). Patients were allocated via an interactive web-based randomization system. Evaluators were blinded to treatments. Isotretinoin 20 mg/daily + cryotherapy or cryotherapy were prescribed for 6 weeks. Patients were followed for 4 months. Genotyping of lesions was performed before treatment started. Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) were measured at the beginning and end of therapy. All patients completed the study. RESULTS Both Groups had 50% clearance at the end of treatment. Recurrence in the combined group was not significantly lower than in the cryotherapy group (P = 0.59). Improvement was observed in the DLQI of all patients in both groups (P = 0.001). No suicidal intention was detected with the C-SSRS. Two patients (one in each group) had liver function test abnormalities after treatment. CONCLUSION Combined therapy showed a slight not significant efficacy for anogenital warts in Hispanic patients. Low-dose isotretinoin seems to be safe even when it is used with cryotherapy on anogenital warts. Abstract
The treatment of cutaneous viral warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is often subject to local recurrence and a long clinical and treatment course. Our aim was to analyze real-life data on the treatment of difficult-to-treat warts from a multicenter postmarketing surveillance assessment on the efficacy, tolerability, and safety of a commercially available nitric-zinc complex solution (NZCS). Dermatologists from 14 Italian centers completed a questionnaire about their clinical experience on treatment of "difficult-to-treat" warts, which included warts in the plantar, periungual, anogenital and aesthetically sensitive areas. The questionnaire was designed to obtain detailed information on wart treatment and compare NZCS efficacy with previous treatments. Of 106 questionnaires returned, 83 reported NZCS use; 67 had previous treatments (23 cryotherapy, 2 electrocoagulation, 12 other topical application, and 30 combined treatment, such as laser, cryotherapy, and/or electrocoagulation). NZCS had superior efficacy to that of previous treatments (p < .0001), resulting in 84.1% with a full or partial clearance (vs. 44.8% for previous treatments), and had better local tolerability (p < .0001). NZCS showed better efficacy and tolerability than other previous wart treatments.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Morphologic evaluation of anal dysplasia remains problematic, especially in cases with limited biopsy samples or obscuring inflammation. Studies in cervical neoplasia have shown that human papillomavirus (HPV) L1 capsid production is highest in low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSILs) and progressively decreases in high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs). The combined utility of HPV L1 and p16 expression in assessing anal squamous intraepithelial lesions (SILs) has never been analyzed and forms the basis of this study. METHODS In total, 145 anal lesions were reviewed and immunohistochemically stained for HPV L1 and p16. p16 expression was recorded as negative, patchy/focal, or diffuse. For analytical purposes, condylomas were evaluated separately from rest of the LSILs. RESULTS There were 34 (23%) condylomas, 64 (44%) LSILs, and 47 (32%) HSILs. HPV L1 was significantly associated with condylomas (68%) and LSILs (52%) compared with HSILs (9%; P < .0001). Diffuse p16 staining was present only in HSILs (P < .0001), whereas a patchy/focal p16 staining pattern was observed in both LSILs and condylomas. CONCLUSIONS HPV L1 and diffuse p16 expression is mutually exclusive in most anal SILs and helps separate LSIL and HSIL cases. Application of both HPV L1 and p16 can not only facilitate accurate grading but also contribute to risk assessment in anal neoplasia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the predictive factors for progression and recurrence of vulvovaginal condyloma (VVC), with a specific focus on high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) infections. METHODS Retrospective data were collected from 48 patients who were diagnosed with VVC and treated with topical trichloroacetic acid application or laser therapy during 2003-2014 at a hospital in South Korea. The diagnoses were made based on the presence of exophytic condylomatous lesions as assessed by direct visual inspection regardless of whether a biopsy was performed. RESULTS Overall, 18 patients (50.0% of those with a test result) were positive for HR-HPV. Three-quarters of the patients with a poor treatment response had abnormal cytologies, and abnormal cytology was a risk factor for a poor response (odds ratio, 4.33 [95% confidence interval, 1.05-17.84]). During a median follow-up of 24months, VVC recurred in seven (14.6%) patients. A high viral load (more than 50 relative light units) of HR-HPV was significantly associated with recurrence (odds ratio, 7.42, 95% confidence interval, 1.19-46.18). CONCLUSION A high HR-HPV load is a risk factor for recurrence, but is not related to treatment response. A poor treatment response is more related to abnormal cytology than it is to viral load.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Several therapeutic options are available to manage anogenital warts (AGWs). However, no hierarchy of treatments is provided in the latest European and American recommendations. This study aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of local treatments for the management of AGWs. METHODS A search was conducted through 12 databases from inception to August 2018. All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which at least one parallel treatment group composed of immunocompetent adults with AGWs received at least one provider-administered or patient-administered treatment were included. Risk of bias assessment and meta-analyses of aggregated study data were performed on the basis of the Cochrane Handbook, and quality of evidence evaluation followed the Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Primary endpoints were complete clearance and recurrence at 3 months. RESULTS Seventy RCTs (9931 patients) were included. All but four RCTs had a high risk of bias. CO2 laser was slightly more efficacious than cryotherapy [risk ratio (RR) 2.05; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.61-2.62], with fewer recurrences at 3 months (RR 0.28; 95% CI 0.09-0.89). Electrosurgery was slightly more efficacious than cryotherapy. No differences in efficacy or side effects were found between cryotherapy and imiquimod or trichloroacetic acid. Podophyllotoxin gel was slightly more efficacious than podophyllotoxin cream. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) was slightly more efficacious and caused less erosion than CO2 laser (RR 1.37; 95% CI 1.11-1.70). CONCLUSION The vast majority of included RCTs had a low level of evidence, thereby preventing the establishment of a hierarchy of treatments. Nevertheless, our results provide an overview of the main AGW treatments available for general practitioners and specialists. While provider-administered treatments are superior, patient-administered treatments (e.g., imiquimod, podophyllotoxin) are useful solutions for compliant patients. Abstract
PURPOSE HIV infection and concomitant HPV-associated anal lesions may significantly impact on patients' quality of life (QoL), as they are predicted to have negative effects on health, psyche, and sexuality. MATERIAL AND METHODS Fifty-two HIV+ patients with HPV-associated anal lesions were enrolled in a survey approach after undergoing routine proctologic assessment and therapy for HPV-associated anal lesions if indicated over a time span of 11 years (11/2004-11/2015). Therapy consisted of surgical ablation and topic treatment. QoL was analyzed using the SF-36 and the CECA questionnaires. RESULTS Fifty-two of 67 patients (77.6%) were successfully contacted and 29/52 provided full information. The mean age was 43.8 ± 12.8 years. The median follow-up from treatment to answering of the questionnaire was 34 months. Twenty-one percent (6/29) of the patients reported suffering from recurrence of condyloma acuminata, three patients from anal dysplasia (10.3%). In the SF-36, HIV+ patients did not rate their QoL as significantly different over all items after successful treatment of HPV-associated anal lesions. In the CECA questionnaire, patients with persisting HPV-associated anal lesions reported significantly higher emotional stress levels and disturbance of everyday life compared to patients who had successful treatment (71.9/100 ± 18.7 vs. 40.00/100 ± 27.4, p = 0.004). Importantly, the sexuality of patients with anal lesions was significantly impaired (59.8/100 ± 30.8 vs. 27.5/100 ± 12.2, p = 0.032). CONCLUSION HPV-associated anal lesions impact significantly negative on QoL in HIV+ patients. Successful treatment of HPV-associated anal lesions in HIV+ patients improved QoL. Specific questionnaires, such as CECA, seem to be more adequate than the SF-36 in this setting.

Abstract
To our knowledge, this is the first study that focuses on risk factor of urethral condyloma (UC). The subjects of our study included genital warts patients who had been diagnosed as having condyloma acuminatum of penile skin (CAPS) with/without UC. Relationship with UC of number of life time female partners, co-infection with urethritis, circumcision status, number of CAPS and wart diameter were studied by use of multivariate analysis. Co-infection with urethritis, circumcision status were risk factors of UC in heterosexual young male patients with CAPS. This information will be helpful for providing more professional counseling to patients with genital warts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus is a common sexually transmitted infection that may affect the oropharynx, genitalia, or anus. Some strains of this virus may cause bulky growths around the anus known as giant anal condylomas. These can become large, disfiguring, and may cause bleeding, as well as difficulty with defecation and hygiene. Surgical management is usually necessary for large condylomas, whereas office-based procedures are common for smaller lesions. It is unclear why some develop large anal margin tumors, whereas others develop limited disease. The aim of the present study was to evaluate for risk factors that may play a role in the development of extensive disease warranting operative management. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective chart review of patients seen within the Anal Dysplasia Clinic at the Medical College of Wisconsin was undertaken. Clinic encounters for patients with anogenital condyloma were abstracted for demographic information, operative interventions, Human Immunodeficiency Virus status, and smoking history to determine risk factors that predicted operative intervention for giant anal condylomas. RESULTS A total of 239 patients met inclusion criteria; 211 (88.3%) were male and 28 (11.7%) were female. Racial makeup of the cohort included 49% Caucasian, 38.9% African-American, 9.2% Hispanic, and 2.9% were identified as another ethnicity. One hundred forty-three patients (60.1%) were current or past smokers. One hundred ninety-eight (82.8%) patients tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), whereas 41 (17.2%) were negative. Multiple linear regression identified only African-American race as predictive of greater disease burden. CONCLUSIONS African-American race was associated with increased size of anal condyloma. As the size of anal condylomas increase, management shifts from topical treatments to operative intervention. This is the first study to correlate race with burden of disease in the general population.

Abstract
The authors in their paper show the case with the female patient D.S. 51 years old, which was surgically treated for genital condyloma in 1981, 1986, 1999, 2006 and 2008. Under registration number 3119/2006 was received at Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Banja Luka with the diagnosis of condyloma acuminatum permagnum. Patient suffered from a huge tumorous, cauliflower formation, which was located on the mons pubis, and down to the anus, laterally to the right of the gluteal region to the left thigh. Patient was operated–Vulvectomia simplex cum extirpatio tumoris reg glutealis l dex. We obtained pathohistological findings (no. 4876 / 06) which read: condyloma acuminatum permagnum. After two years patient was rehospitalized at Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Banja Luka, (registration number 1311/08) with almost identical findings in the same region under the diagnosis of condyloma acuminatum permagnum recidivans, St. post. vulvectomiam simplex et extitpationem tumoris glutealis reg l dex. All preoperative findings – laboratory analysis, X-ray of the lung and heart and ultrasound of the small pelvis were within the reference values. In this paper we describe the location of the tumor and how it is resolved – Extirpatio tumoris reg glutealis l. dex. et perianalis. Pathohistological findings confirmed previous diagnosis. In this paper we highlight our experiences regarding the operations of an unusually large tumors of genital condyloma and recurrent genital condyloma that were almost of the same size. Our experience could be useful to work on the education about sexually transmitted diseases, in order to improve the prevention of the viral diseases (vaccination), the treatment of these illnesses and to disseminate the warning that the regular check-ups with gynecologist are necessary.

Abstract
Condyloma or genital warts affect the tissues of the genital area due to infections induced by Human papillomavirus. There are some topical therapies indicated for condyloma lesions treatment but all of them present a high rate of recurrence. Photodynamic Therapy is proving to be an interesting strategy for treating these lesions, capable also to treat virus-infected cells on subclinical lesions. A patient with a significative condylomatosis region was treated with six MAL-PDT sessions. Due to its large thickness, other topical procedures probably would have low effectiveness. After the treatment, the tissue presented clinical absence of lesion and no apparent scar, with good aesthetic result and preserving the sensitivity of the region and a follow up of eleven months without recurrence.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related benign papillary epithelial neoplasms are common lesions affecting any region of the oral cavity. This study evaluated the trends in frequency, location, and demographics of these lesions over 20 years in a large biopsy service. Following IRB approval, the archives of UF Oral Pathology Biopsy Service between 1995 and 2015 were queried. Cases diagnosed as squamous papilloma, verruca vulgaris, and condyloma acuminatum were included. Extraoral locations, inconclusive diagnoses, or syndrome-related HPV lesions were excluded. Age, gender, location, clinical presentation, and diagnoses were recorded. Data from one calendar year per 5-year span was assessed including the years 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015. A total of 1458 cases were identified over the total 5 calendar years assessed. Papilloma as a percentage of total biopsies per year was as follows: 1995 (2.6%), 2000 (3.3%), 2005 (3.6%), 2010 (4.0%) and 2015 (4.5%), representing a 73% (1.9×) percentage increase. Males (56%) were affected more commonly; however, in patients under 19 years, a female predominance was observed. The overall percentage of lesions in females increased by 30.6% over the time frame. The mean age was 54 years (range 1-93 years) with an increase of 10 years over time. About 1.1% of patients had multifocal lesions and 0.2% had a recurrence. In descending order of frequency, the tongue, soft palate, and mandibular gingiva were most involved. Maxillary gingiva and lower lip were the most common locations in patients under 19. Location varied over time, however, the biggest increase was noted for lesions on the gingiva. Squamous papilloma was the most common histologic variant (93.6%). The incidence of benign HPV-related oral lesions increased substantially over the 2 decades studied. This increase was statistically significant with a p-value <0.00045. Other trends noted included increase in the following: the average age, female involvement, and gingival location. Our results indicate a trend for the overall increase in the prevalence of benign oral HPV lesions in our population.

Abstract
The prevention of HPV-related diseases is an important healthcare issue due to its increasing incidence. Primary prevention is most important in males as it avoids initial infection and includes the use of condom, circumcision and vaccination. Primary prevention with vaccination is effective in decreasing HPV-related lesions in women up to 45 years old and the existing data for men comes from the experience from vaccinating women. Although it is the only vaccine that prevents cancer, the worldwide rates of vaccination in males is very low due to lack of information related to efficacy and side effects, lack of recommendation from the treating doctor, price and concern about encouragement of sexual promiscuity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High-grade anal intraepithelial squamous lesion is significantly prevalent among men who have sex with men and are infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This condition-the precursor to anal cancer-significantly increases the risk of developing it. Conversely, low-grade anal intraepithelial squamous typically follow a benign course and usually regress spontaneously. MATERIALS AND METHODS To describe a population of men who have sex with men living with HIV followed in a specialized anal cancer screening unit we conducted an observational, retrospective, and single-center study. RESULTS Ninety-four patients were analyzed, with a mean age of 39±9 years, and a 87% positivity rate for high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV). At the initial visit, 47% presented with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. The progression rate to high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion was 37.2 per 100,000 patients/year. None of the patients developed anal cancer. Tobacco and alcohol consumption were associated with this progression. DISCUSSION In this series, longer duration of HIV infection, tobacco and alcohol use and the presence of HR-HPV were significantly associated with the occurrence of high-grade intraepithelial lesions. A lower risk of progression was seen in patients with higher education. CONCLUSION In men who have sex with men living with HIV, the association of factors such as smoking, alcohol, the presence of HR-HPV and an increased burden of human papillomavirus disease makes these patients more susceptible to develop high-grade anal squamous lesions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection (STI) worldwide. Immunocompetent hosts have intact defense mechanisms to prevent HPV infection, but immunocompromised patients are at higher risk for complications, including HPV-related cancers. Most of these cancers originate from high-risk HPV strains in sexually active patients. CASE Here we present a case of an immunocompromised adolescent who developed cervical cancer despite no prior sexual activity and only ever having had low-risk type HPV on biopsy. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS To our knowledge, this is the first case report of a cervical cancer arising from a low-risk HPV strain in an immunocompromised, non-sexually active adolescent. This case highlights the importance of preventive and screening mechanisms in immunocompromised populations, as they are have a higher probability of HPV-related complications, even in the absence of traditional risk factors.

Abstract
Introduction and importance Condyloma are a common and easily diagnosticated condition that could affect the area around and inside the anus. But a nodular perianal lesion is not always a simple condyloma. Case presentation We report a case of a 61-year-old patient with nodular perianal lesions mimicking condyloma that has revealed an amylosis and a multiple myeloma. Clinical discussion The cutaneous manifestations of amyloidosis are diverse. Perianal nodular lesions were indicative of cutaneous amyloidosis in our patient. It is imperative to screen systemic involvement for amyloidosis. Conclusion Our case report highlights the importance of minitious physical examination because some simple lesions can hide dangerous affections.
A nodular perianal lesion is not always a simple condyloma. Cutaneous amyloidosis could be manifested by a nodural perianal lesion. Some simple cutaneous lesions can hide dangerous affections.
