Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a locally aggressive superficial mesenchymal neoplasm characterized by monomorphic spindle-cell proliferation with a storiform pattern. It can demonstrate pigmentation, myxoid changes, myoid differentiation, plaque-like growth, and fibrosarcomatous features; its varied presentation often complicates diagnosis. We report an extremely rare case of fibrosarcomatous DFSP with features reminiscent of a pleomorphic hyalinizing angiectatic tumor (PHAT) in a 73-year-old male. The diagnosis was confirmed using a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. To the best of our knowledge, PHAT-like changes in DFPS have not been described so far. Therefore, this report provides a novel variant of DFSP and expands the differential diagnosis of DFSP and PHAT.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, locally aggressive fibroblastic mesenchymal neoplasm, typically derived from the dermis, with the intramammary subtype being seen infrequently. We present a case of a 40-year-old woman whom was diagnosed with an intramammary DFSP during pregnancy, whom underwent successful surgical management during her second trimester. Our case demonstrates the importance of increased clinical awareness in the diagnosis and treatment of breast DFSP with careful multidisciplinary consideration.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To review Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) trends in Saudi Arabia.Mohs micrographic surgery is a precise surgical technique that has been proven to have the highest cure rate with maximum normal tissue preservation. It is the treatment of choice for non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), especially the aggressive histopathological forms, and tumors located in high-risk regions or where tissue preservation is a mandate. METHODS A multicentric retrospective study was performed on patients who underwent MMS between January 2010 and September 2022. The information was extracted from the database of King Saud University Medical City and Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Saudi Arabia. RESULTS A total of 70 participants were enrolled in this study. Two-thirds (67%) of the tumors that were treated using MMS were basal-cell carcinomas (BCC), 18.6% were squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), 5.7% were sebaceous carcinoma, 4.3% were dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), and 1.4% were rare tumors such as primary mucinous carcinoma. The most common type of reconstruction used to repair post-MMS defect was primary closure in more than half of the patients followed by secondary intention healing (20%). There were no side effects apart from a hematoma in one patient and wound infection in two patients. CONCLUSION Although MMS is still generally underutilized in Saudi Arabia, its use has increased in the last decade.

Abstract
Cutaneous mesenchymal neoplasms are diagnostically challenging because of their overlapping morphology, and, often, the limited tissue in skin biopsy specimens. Molecular and cytogenetic techniques have identified characteristic gene fusions in many of these tumor types, findings that have expanded our understanding of disease pathogenesis and motivated development of useful ancillary diagnostic tools. Here, we provide an update of new findings in tumor types that can occur in the skin and superficial subcutis, including dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, benign fibrous histiocytoma, epithelioid fibrous histiocytoma, angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma, glomus tumor, myopericytoma/myofibroma, non-neural granular cell tumor, CIC-rearranged sarcoma, hybrid schwannoma/perineurioma, and clear cell sarcoma. We also discuss recently described and emerging tumor types that can occur in superficial locations and that harbor gene fusions, including nested glomoid neoplasm with GLI1 alterations, clear cell tumor with melanocytic differentiation and ACTIN::MITF translocation, melanocytic tumor with CRTC1::TRIM11 fusion, EWSR1::SMAD3-rearranged fibroblastic tumor, PLAG1-rearranged fibroblastic tumor, and superficial ALK-rearranged myxoid spindle cell neoplasm. When possible, we discuss how fusion events mediate the pathogenesis of these tumor types, and we also discuss the related diagnostic and therapeutic implications of these events.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a dermal malignant mesenchymal tumor. Most variants are associated with a high risk of local recurrence and a low risk of metastasis. The classic histomorphology of this tumor is made up of uniform, spindle-shaped cells, arranged in a storiform pattern. Tumor cells characteristically infiltrate the underlying subcutis in a honeycomb pattern. Less common variants of DFSP have been identified: myxoid, pigmented, myoid, granular cell, sclerosing, atrophic, and fibrosarcomatous. Only the fibrosarcomatous variant has been shown to differ significantly from classic DFSP in terms of clinical outcome; fibrosarcomatous DFSP has been shown to be associated with a greater risk of local recurrence and metastatic potential than classic DFSP. However, the other variants may pose diagnostic difficulty as they resemble other types of spindle cell neoplasms, especially in small biopsy specimens. This article reviews the clinical, histologic, and molecular features of DFSP variants, as well as possible pitfalls in their diagnosis and how to resolve them.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a very rare tumour that accounts for less than 0.1% of all malignant neoplasms. It is a locally aggressive tumour with high recurrence rate. Head and neck involvement is very uncommon and hence diverse treatment protocols have been recommended for its management in the currently available literature. We present a case of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans over the lower part of right cheek in a middle aged male, which was successfully treated with wide local excision and reconstruction along with post-op radiotherapy. The patient was followed-up for 18 months with no recurrence. Prompt and accurate diagnosis along with multidisciplinary treatment is crucial for optimal management of this rare tumor. The optimal treatment option is surgical resection with wide margins along with adjuvant radiotherapy, which leads to better outcomes even in patients with positive surgical margins. Larger clinical trials with Imatinib will firmly establish its chemotherapeutic role in its management. Lifelong regular follow-up is essential for early detection of tumor.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, locally aggressive dermal-based sarcoma. Metastatic potential is extremely low, primarily in the setting of fibrosarcomatous transformation. DFSP is characterized by a t(17;22) (q22;q13) translocation that results in active PDGFB signaling. Surgical resection with negative margins (typically including the underlying fascia) is the potentially curative treatment. Delayed wound closure should be considered for cases requiring extensive resection or tissue rearrangement. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as imatinib, have shown response rates of 50% to 60% in patients with locally advanced or metastatic disease. Radiation can be useful for residual or recurrent diseases.

Abstract
Seborrheic keratosis (SK) is the most common benign tumour of epidermal origin. In most cases, it is simple to recognize in the clinical examination. However, sometimes SK can be a problematic lesion. We present the cases of two patients with seborrheic keratosis in whom we diagnosed the skin cancer through dermoscopic and histopathological examinations. The article aims to draw attention to the need for dermoscopic examinations to be included for an accurate assessment of the nevi not only by dermatologists but also not-specialized doctors. We would like to underline that many skin cancers share the similar features of malignancy, and competence and capability to interpret the dermoscopic pictures correctly are important for early recognition of malignant lesion. Very often malignant skin cancers can be hidden among benign lesions like seborrheic keratosis or they can be imitators of benign lesions. Amongst all cases of imposing SK, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma is the most important differential diagnosis, of which their dermoscopic features will be discussed in this article.

Abstract
Introduction: Breast sarcomas (BS) are uncommon and often present both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Historically, radical surgery has been the mainstay of treatment for localized breast sarcomas. On the other hand, in advanced disease, since they are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms consisting of several different subtypes including angiosarcoma, phyllodes tumor, and pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma, there is a lack of proven specific therapy. As a result, their treatment is based on the soft tissue sarcoma (STS) paradigm, whereas histotype-tailored approaches apply to specific subtypes like dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. To date, advanced stages constitute an incurable form of disease and chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of treatment with the aim of palliation of symptoms and increase in survival.Areas covered: In this manuscript, we review the clinicopathologic characteristics of the most common subtypes of BS, as well as the current treatment landscape of BS, with a particular focus on opportunities and challenges provided by new targeted molecules and immunotherapy.Expert opinion: The treatment approach of advanced BS is based on the pathologic subtype. A true breakthrough has still to be obtained, as the development of new agents in BS suffers from the same weaknesses as in other STS.

Abstract
Characterization of patients, surgery procedures and the risk factors for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) recurrences is poorly defined. In this study, we aimed to describe the demographics, tumor characteristics and interventions of DFSP treated with Mohs micrographic surgery (MSS) to determine the rate and risk factors for recurrence. Data were collected from REGESMOHS, a nationwide prospective cohort study of patients treated with MMS in Spain. From July 2013 to February 2020, 163 patients with DFSP who underwent MMS were included. DFSP was mostly located on trunk and extremities. Recurrent tumors had deeper tumor invasion and required higher number of MMS stages. Paraffin MMS was the most frequently used technique. Overall recurrence rate was 0.97 cases/100 person-years (95% IC = 0.36-2.57). No differences were found in epidemiological, tumor, surgery characteristics or surgical technique (frozen or paraffin MMS [p = 0.6641]) in terms of recurrence. Median follow-up time was 28.6 months with 414 patient-years of follow-up. In conclusion, we found an overall low recurrence rate of DFSP treated with MMS. None of the studied risk factors, including MMS techniques, was associated with higher risk for recurrence.

Abstract
PURPOSE To analyze the appearance of recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) in postoperative MRI follow-up and to assess the occurrence of postoperative soft tissue changes detected in MRI. METHODS A total of 464 MRI follow-up scans of 32 patients with histologically proven diagnosis of DFSP were analyzed. MR imaging was performed using a 1.5T MRI system. Recurrent DFSP was examined for signal intensity, contrast behavior, appearance, and extent in MRI. RESULTS The mean age of the patients was 44,5±17,1 years. Recurrences of DFSP occurred 26±23.3 months after primary tumor resection in the mean (Min.: 9, Max.: 60). In 25% of the patients (n = 8), recurrences of DFSP were detected. Recurrent DFSP most often showed a nodular and homogeneous configuration with well-defined borders and marked contrast enhancement, and a hyperintense signal in PD-weighted and turbo inversion recovery magnitude sequences. All recurrences were well detected in the follow-up MRIs regardless of the performed plastic surgery procedure. Lateral and depth margins had no significant impact on the local recurrence rate. In all, 88% of the patients developed subcutaneous tissue edema (p < 0.01), followed by muscle edema (34%, p = 0.02), and postoperative seroma (22%). CONCLUSION Recurrent DFSP mainly appear uniform and clearly delimitable on MRI as nodular, homogeneous, and well-defined lesions with marked contrast enhancement. Therefore, MRI is a valuable tool for postsurgical follow-up. Nearly all patients develop subcutaneous edema after the resection of DFSP.

Abstract
Background Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance (DFSP) is the commonest, yet rare, dermal sarcoma globally. There are few reports in the literature of this neoplasm in Nigerians and indeed in sub-Saharan Africa. This study documents our institutional practice observation and compares it with those from other regions of the world. Methods and materials This study was a retrospective review of all cases of histologically diagnosed DFSP at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, spanning a period of 27 years (January 1989–December 2016). Data on patient age, gender, tumour location, size, tumour recurrence and metastasis status were obtained from clinical and surgical pathology archival files and records. Results Sixty-nine cases of DFSP were recorded over the period reviewed with a male–female ratio of 1.6:1. The mean age of the study population was 39.6 years. The youngest patient was 5-year old, while the oldest was 86 years and the modal age group was the 4th decade. The trunk was the commonest anatomic tumour location. Recurrences were seen in seven cases with recurrence interval ranging from 6 to 240 months. The correlation between tumour size and age was non-significant (r = −0.183; p = 0.182). There was fibrosarcoma-like transformation in three cases (4.3%) studied. Conclusion Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance is rare in our population and occurs more commonly in males and on the trunk. Recurrence can occur beyond the recommended follow-up period of 10 years.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a locally aggressive tumour. Adequate margins have a positive impact on recurrence rates. The aim of this study is to assess how adequate margins are achieved and secondly which additional treatment modalities might be necessary to achieve adequate margins. MATERIAL & METHODS Patients with DFSP treated between 1991 and 2016 at three tertiary centres were included. Patient- and tumour characteristics were obtained from a prospectively held database and patient files. RESULTS A total of 279 patients with a median age of 39 (Interquartile range [IQ], 31-50) years and a median follow-up of 50 (IQ, 18-96) months were included. When DFSP was preoperatively confirmed by biopsy and resected with an oncological operation in a tertiary centre, in 86% was had clear pathological margins after one excision. Wider resection margins were significantly correlated with more reconstructions (p = 0.002). A substantial discrepancy between the primary surgical macroscopic and the pathological margins was found with a median difference of 22 (range, 10-46) mm (Fig. 1). There was no significant influence of the width of the pathological clear margins (if > 1 mm) and the recurrence rate (p = 0.710). CONCLUSION The wider the resection margins, the more likely it is to obtain clear pathological margins, but the more likely patients will need any form of reconstruction after resection. The aim of the primary excision should be wide surgical resection, where the width of the margin should be balanced against the need for reconstructions and surgical morbidity.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare type of malignant tumor of the cutaneous soft tissue that typically involves the dermis and surrounding structures. The typical clinical presentation involves an asymptomatic, slowly enlarging, indurated plaque, usually found on the trunk. PRESENTATION OF CASE Here we present an atypical presentation of DFSP in a patient with a recurrent mass that was initially diagnosed as a lipoma, with supporting literature and clinical considerations for post-surgical management DISCUSSION: In its earlier stages, DFSP can mimic other benign or malignant dermatological pathologies, which can complicate diagnosis purely via history and physical exam. Atypical features such as prior surgical management, morphology, and location can complicate the clinical diagnosis of DFSP. Immunohistochemistry is often required for definitive diagnosis as DFSP is CD34+ and is histologically described as spindle-cells in whorled or storiform pattern, with uniform, small elongated cells. CONCLUSION DFSP is a rare tumor of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Though it commonly presents with induration, skin discoloration, and telangiectasias, it is important to keep DFSP as a differential in new masses found on previous surgical sites, especially if the previous mass had a possibility of recurrence.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare dermal sarcoma characterised by low-grade malignancy, slow infiltrative growth, local recurrence and rare distant metastases. OBJECTIVE Many international studies exist on DFSP, but limited data on Asian patients are available. This article fills this gap. METHODS A retrospective and observational patient series based on records of 99 patients diagnosed with DFSP and treated with wide local excision and assessments of complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin from 2002 to 2018. The margin width, pathological characteristics and surgical methods of 99 patients were described. Follow-up outcomes of 43 patients were evaluated. RESULTS In total, 106 DFSP resections were performed in 99 Asian patients (mean age: 44 years, SD: 14 years). Locations of DFSP are the trunk (63%), extremities (23%), head and neck (9%) and groin (5%). The average margin width was 3.5 ± 0.5 (SD) cm. CD34, vimentin and AOPD positivity was found in 98%, 100% and 86% of specimens, respectively. The median value of Ki67 expression was 5% + (range 1% + ∼ 50% +). Primary closure was used for 69% of all excisions, while flaps, grafts or other closures were used for the other excision procedures. A total of 43 patients were followed up for a mean duration of 53±36 (SD) months. Six patients exhibited recurrence. The eight-year recurrence-free survival rate was 94%. CONCLUSION Wide local excision and margin assessments can remove DFSP tumours and control recurrence.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a slow growing dermal tumor with a very low metastatic potential but with significant subclinical extension and capacity for local destruction with local recurrence rates ranging from 0 to 50%. Controversy exists regarding margin width and excision techniques, with some advocating Mohs surgery and others wide excision. We reviewed the excision technique along with the recurrence rates at a tertiary care center in eastern India. This study is a retrospective review of patients with DFSP from June 2011 to September 2018. Patients had initial wide excision using 2-3 cm margins with primary closure or reconstructive procedure; re-excision was done for positive margins. Pathologic analysis included en face sectioning. We evaluated margin width, number of excisions, reconstruction methods, radiation, and outcomes. A total of 31 patients with DFSP (15 males, 16 females), median age 41 years (range 14-82), were treated. Locations were extremities (13), trunk (12), and head and neck (06). The median number of excisions to achieve negative margins was 1 (range 1-3). Closure techniques included primary closure (13; 42%), tissue flaps (13; 42%), and skin grafting (05; 16%). There were 11 patients who received postoperative radiation, 4 for positive margins after maximal surgical excision. At a median follow-up of 24 months (range 1-72), 2 patients (6.5%) recurred locally, and 1 patient (3.2%) had lung metastasis. Using a standardized surgical approach including meticulous pathologic evaluation of margins, low recurrence rate (10%) was achieved with adequate margins (2-3 cm).

Abstract
Background: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma. Its high recurrence rate is a clinical challenge.Objective: To analyze DFSP clinicopathologic factors and review our experience of treatments.Materials and methods: A total of 80 patients who were treated between 2007 and 2017 in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital were evaluated. Outcomes were compared focusing on recurrence following different treatment methods. Classical DFSP and transformed DFSP were classified as the two subtypes.Results: The recurrence rate after local excision was significantly higher than that after wide margin excision. Patients undergoing wide margin excision (margins over 3 cm) were found to have lower recurrence rate compared with those margins less than 3 cm, while 10 underwent Mohs surgery were not found recurrence. Transformed DFSP had a greater tendency to recur.Conclusions: Clean margin of excision should be achieved to prevent recurrence of DFSP. Slow Mohs surgery is recommended to treat DFSP.

Abstract
Introduction Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, low-grade malignant mesenchymal tumor of the soft tissue, characterized by slow infiltrative growth and common local recurrence, with rare distant metastases. Patients and methods We present a retrospective study of nineteen patients who were diagnosed with DFSP and operated at our institution in > 10-year period. We examined the clinicopathological parameters with special emphasis on the margin status regarding the clinical outcome and the follow-up. Results A total of eight cases underwent re-excision at our institution following primary excision or incisional biopsy performed at a different institution. Seven cases received excision after incisional biopsy at our institution. Four patients developed recurrent disease following primary excision with histological R0 margins at other institutions and received re-excision at our institution. All excisions at our institution resulted in R0 margins with no recurrence recorded at last follow-up (6 to 175; mean 84 months). The mean margin for those who received resection at our institution was 1.67 cm. Negative margins upon primary excision were achieved using a mean margin width of 2.04 cm. Most common tumor localization was the trunk (10 cases). Conclusion Awareness of this rare entity is important for a prompt diagnosis and a proper management of the disease. The greatest clinical challenge in the management of DFSP is achieving local control. Complete excision of the tumor with surgical margin widths of at least 2 cm is recommended.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is categorized as a fibrohistiocytic tumor of intermediate malignant potential. It has significant risk for local recurrence and, less commonly, local or distant metastasis. Initially, these tumors typically arise as a firm plaque on the skin that slowly progresses to a nodular and protuberant dermal lesion. DFSP can also exhibit ulceration, hemorrhage, and accelerated growth, but autoamputation has not been described in the English literature. In this article, we report a case of an asymptomatic classical DFSP on the upper back in which the protuberant portion spontaneously autoamputated. In this case, the residual lesion was treated with Mohs micrographic surgery. The presentation, features, and implications of this interesting mode of presentation are discussed.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to evaluate the role of postoperative radiotherapy (RT) in dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) and identify the prognostic factors influencing the disease-free survival (DFS). Methods A total of 184 patients with DFSP were analyzed from 2000 to 2016. The regression model was used to examine the prognostic factors for DFS. Baseline covariates were balanced using a propensity score model. The role of RT was assessed by comparing the DFS of the surgery + RT group with that of the surgery group. Results The median follow-up was 58 months (range, 6–203 months). The 5-year DFS rate was 89.8%. The univariate analysis showed that age ≥ 50 years, presence of fibrosarcoma, margins < 2 cm, and tumor size ≥5 cm were associated with worse DFS (P = 0.002, P < 0.001, P = 0.030, and P = 0.032, respectively). The multivariate Cox regression model revealed that age, margin width, lesion number, and histological subtype independently affected DFS. The Ki-67 expression was related to age and histological subtype. Patients with Ki-67 ≥ 17% showed a worse DFS than those with Ki-67 < 17% (35.8% vs 87.8%, P = 0.002). In the matched cohort, DFS was significantly higher in the S + RT group than in the S group (5-year DFS, 88.1% vs 56.2%, P = 0.044). Conclusions Age, margin width, lesion number, and histological subtype were independent risk factors for DFS in patients with DFSP. The high expression of Ki-67 could predict a poor prognosis. Postoperative RT could improve DFS for patients with DFSP.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma that tends to invade and recur locally. The most common site of this disease is head, neck and extremities; however, the involvement of the breast has been reported. We present a case with a dermatofibrosarcoma of the breast that is composed of low-grade spindle cells which are positive for CD43. She was treated by wide surgical excision followed by adjuvant external beam irradiation at a dose of 60 Gray. After a follow-up of 24 months, no local-regional or distant recurrence was detected.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance (DFSP) is a fibrohistiocytic tumor of intermediate malignancy characterized by slow infiltrative growth and a high tendency to recur locally. Periostin is involved in modulating cell function and inducing the production of proinflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) from tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) to promote fibrosis and tumor growth. This study aimed to examine the cancer stroma of DFSP, focusing on TAMs-related proteins and MMPs. PATIENTS AND METHODS Using immunohistochemical staining and DNA microarray database, we evaluated periostin, CD163, CD206, MMP1 and MMP12 in 10 cases of DFSP and dermatofibroma. RESULTS Dense deposits of periostin as well as a substantial number of CD163+ TAMs were detected at the peripheral areas of DFSP. Moreover, MMP1 and MMP12, that were selected by using a DNA microarray database of monocyte-derived macrophages, were observed in the TAMs-detected area. CONCLUSION Increased levels of MMP1 and MMP12 on TAMs in the peripheral areas of DFSP might contribute to local invasion.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare superficial soft tissue sarcoma. Its rarity precludes large prospective studies. Clinical diagnosis requires an high index of suspicion. Effective management requires an appreciation of tumor biology and the nature of the characteristic infiltrative growth pattern. DFSP tends to recur locally, with a low risk of dissemination. Aggressive surgical resection with widely negative margins is essential to management. Radiotherapy may be indicated in special circumstances. Understanding the molecular pathogenesis has resulted in use of tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy for patients with locally advanced disease or in metastatic disease. DFSP patients require long-term follow-up.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is an extremely rare, potentially malignant tumor type that usually presents on the trunk or proximal extremities. The clinical presentation includes a gradually enlarging painless plaque-like or nodular lesion of the skin with surrounding red to blue discoloration. The diagnosis is based on clinical presentation, computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, and biopsy with histologic analysis. An early and timely diagnosis improves chances of complete surgical resection thus improving prognosis. Herein, we present a rare case of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans with the hopes that its addition to the literature will aid in the earlier recognition of future patients and help prevent this potentially curable disease from becoming deadly.

Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare skin tumor, characterized by frequent local recurrence but is seldom metastatic. It is histologically characterized by storiform arrangement of spindle cells. Cytogenetically, most tumors are characterized by translocation 17:22 leading to overexpression of tyrosine kinase PDGFB which can be targeted with tyrosine kinase inhibitor, Imatinib. We describe the first case of unresectable pancreatic metastases from DFSP treated with neoadjuvant Imatinib and subsequently R0 metastectomy. Additionally, a comprehensive systematic review of DFSP pancreatic metastases and the current published data on the use of Imatinib in DFSP is summarized.

Abstract
Functional chemokine receptors are expressed in many malignant tumors. These receptors promote tumor growth and metastasis in response to endogenous chemokines. We analyzed the expression of CXCR4, CCR6 and CCR7 in fibrohistiocytic tumors, including dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance (DFSP), malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH), dermatofibroma (DF) using immunohistochemistry. We also investigated the relationship between CXCR4 and CD34, the latter of which is an immunohistochemical marker for DFSP. We observed a higher expression of CXCR4 in DFSP and MFH as compared with DF. Interestingly, a significantly higher expression of CXCR4 was detected in relapsed DFSP than in non-relapsed DFSP, but no significant differences were detected between non-relapsed DFSP and DFSP with CD34 immunostaining. Moreover, MFH had strong immunoreactivity for CXCR4, CCR6 and CCR7. These findings suggest that the assessment of CXCR4 immunoreactivity in fibrohistiocytic tumors is a useful tool for predicting tumor aggressiveness.
