Abstract
Foreign body ingestion is an infrequent cause of small bowel obstruction and, rarely, perforation. It is a common occurrence among pediatric patients, mentally impaired and the edentulous elderly population majority of which will pass through the gastrointestinal tract uneventfully. The likelihood of complications such as perforation, bleeding or fistula formation increases markedly particularly for sharp, stiff, and elongated objects (i.e. toothpicks, meat bones, pins, and razor blades). Diagnosis can be difficult as frequently patients are incognizant of the nature and time of ingestion. Imaging is commonly non-specific as well. We present an unusual case of a 65-year-old male who had an ileal perforation secondary to a coconut leaf midrib skewer initially presenting as small bowel obstruction. Intraoperatively, adhesions were seen in the ileum with note of the foreign body perforating two bowel loops that was not identified in preoperative imaging. This case highlights the importance of considering atypical causes of small bowel obstruction even in the background of previous surgery. Finally, early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and timely intervention are essential to improve patient outcomes and decrease mortality in such cases.

Abstract
Small bowel perforation caused by an ingested fish bone is rare but can involve the appendix or Meckel’s diverticulum. We report the case of a 25-year-old man who presented to the emergency department with acute abdomen caused by perforation of a Meckel’s diverticulum with a fish bone ingested in a Good Friday.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bowel perforation from biliary stent migration is a serious potential complication of biliary stents, but fortunately has an incidence of less than 1%. CASE SUMMARY We report a case of a 54-year-old Caucasian woman with a history of Human Immunodeficiency virus with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, alcoholic liver cirrhosis, portal vein thrombosis and extensive past surgical history who presented with acute abdominal pain and local peritonitis. On further evaluation she was diagnosed with small bowel perforation secondary to migrated biliary stents and underwent exploratory laparotomy with therapeutic intervention. CONCLUSION This case presentation reports on the unusual finding of two migrated biliary stents, with one causing perforation. In addition, we review the relevant literature on migrated stents.

Abstract
Introduction Complications due to small bowel non-Meckel's diverticulosis is an uncommon clinical scenario encountered in clinical practice. A diverticulum in the ileum is rare among the locations of the diverticulum in the small intestine. We describe an unusual case of ileal diverticular perforation presenting as an acute abdomen. Case presentation and management A 74-year-old male presented with septic shock and localized peritonitis in right lower abdomen. Preoperative imaging and intraoperative findings were consistent with terminal ileal diverticular perforation for which right hemicolectomy was done. Conclusion Small bowel diverticulosis was usually asymptomatic, though it can rarely present with acute abdominal emergencies. Computed tomogram of the abdomen, Barium meal follow-through, capsule endoscopy, CT enteroclysis can be used to diagnose small bowel diverticulosis. Although the incidence of small bowel diverticulosis is low, small bowel diverticulitis should be included in the differential diagnosis if an inflammatory mass involving the small bowel is demonstrated on CT. Patients with localized and self-limited inflammation without free perforation in imaging can be treated conservatively with parenteral antibiotics and close monitoring approach. Surgical intervention is usually required for complicated acute presentations and those with refractory symptoms. A high index of suspicion of complicated small bowel diverticulosis should be in the clinician's mind when dealing with acute small bowel emergencies especially in elderly patients. Diverticular disease of small bowel is rare and has a prevalence rate of 1% in general population Acute complications due to ileal diverticulosis presenting as acute abdomen is rare in clinical practice Surgical intervention is usually indicated with complicated presentations and with refractory symptoms.

Abstract
Background True primary enterolithiasis is an uncommon condition, and nontraumatic perforation of the small intestine (NTPSI) is also an unusual entity. Therefore, NTPSI due to true primary enteroliths is an exceptionally rare complication. Moreover, enterolithiasis and radiation enteritis are also unique combinations. Herein, we present an exceedingly rare case of NTPSI induced by multiple true primary enteroliths associated with radiation enteritis. Case presentation A 92-year-old woman with acute abdominal pain was transferred to our hospital because a computed tomography (CT) scan performed by her family doctor revealed free air and fluid collection within her abdomen. Our initial diagnosis was upper gastrointestinal perforation, and we selected nonoperative management (NOM) with adnominal drainage. Although her general condition was stable, jejunal juice was drained continuously. Given that the CT performed 10 days after onset demonstrated perforation of the small intestine and adjacent concretion, we performed an emergency partial resection of the small intestine and jejunostomy. The resected bowel was 1 m in length and had many strictures that contained multiple enteroliths in their proximal lumens. The patient’s postoperative course was uneventful. The enteroliths were composed of deoxycholic acid (DCA). She was diagnosed with peritonitis due to NTPSI derived from multiple true primary enteroliths associated with radiation enteritis, as she had previously undergone hysterectomy and subsequent internal radiation therapy. Conclusions Clinicians should consider the rare entity of true primary enteroliths associated with radiation enteritis in NTPSI cases with unknown etiologies.

Abstract
Background Diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis poses a dilemma to physicians due to nonspecific symptoms like abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and a change in bowel habit. In particular, the distinction between inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal tuberculosis remains challenging. Case presentation A 27-year-old man from Colombia presented with fever, night sweats, and progressive lower abdominal pain. Computed tomography revealed a thickening of the bowel wall with a mesenterial lymphadenopathy, ascites ,and a pleural tumor mass. Histology of intestinal and pleural biopsy specimens showed a granulomatous inflammation. Although microscopy and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) were negative, empirical MTB treatment was initiated on suspicion. Due to a massive post-stenotic atrophied intestinal bowel, MTB medications were administered parenterally in the initial phase of treatment to guarantee adequate systemic resorption. The complicated and critical further course included an intra-abdominal abscess and bowel perforation requiring a split stoma, before the patient could be discharged in good condition after 3 months of in-hospital care. Conclusions This case highlights the clinical complexity and diagnostic challenges of intestinal MTB infection. A multidisciplinary team of physicians should be sensitized to a timely diagnosis of this disease, which often mimics inflammation similar to inflammatory bowel disease, other infections, or malignancies. In our case, radiological findings, histological results, and migratory background underpinned the suspected diagnosis and allowed early initiation of tuberculostatic treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vibrio pararhaemolyticus (V. parahaemolyticus), a pathogen that commonly causes gastroenteritis, could potentially lead to a pandemic in Asia. Its pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms vary, and the severity of illness can be diverse, ranging from mild gastroenteritis, requiring only supportive care, to sepsis.
CASE SUMMARY We outline a case of a 71-year-old female who experienced an acute onset of severe abdominal tenderness after two days of vomiting and diarrhea prior to her emergency department visit. A small bowel perforation was diagnosed using computed tomography. The ascites cultured revealed infection due to V. parahaemolyticus
CONCLUSION Our case is the first reported case of V. parahaemolyticus-induced gastroenteritis resulting in small bowel perforation.

Abstract
Background Cholesterol crystal embolism (CCE) following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is rare. Case presentation A 71-year-old man underwent TACE for recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). On postoperative day (POD) 5, he developed abdominal pain and fever. Computed tomography revealed intraperitoneal free air. The patient was diagnosed with gastrointestinal perforation with peritonitis, for which partial intestinal resection and covering ileostomy were performed. Histological examination revealed perforation of the small intestine caused by CCE. The patient made a satisfactory recovery and was discharged on POD 30. The patient showed no recurrence of cholesterol crystal embolism or HCC for 2 years after surgery. Conclusion We reported a successfully treated case of ischemic small bowel perforation due to cholesterol crystal embolism following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for recurrent HCC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Define factors for proper diagnosis and treatment of small intestinal injury during procedures with percutaneous renal access, thus optimizing favorable outcomes and avoiding complications and death during conservative or surgical approaches. MATERIALS AND METHODS Bibliographic review of case reports available in the literature and presentation of data from an additional case have been carried out. RESULTS Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy was the procedure that most frequently caused injury of the small intestine. Time for diagnosis of the lesion took up to 5 days after the intraoperative phase. When occurring in the intraoperative phase, perforation was identified by direct endoscopic visualization; a catheter was then placed inside the intestinal lumen and a conservative approach to the derived fistula was adopted, which led to successful outcomes in all cases. Abdominal pain was the most common symptom in cases diagnosed during the postoperative phase (75%). In the presence of signs of peritonitis, surgical intervention was performed, with favorable evolution in all cases. CONCLUSIONS Conservative management of small intestine injuries is possible when there is no peritoneal contamination. Its success factors include intraoperative diagnosis and non-transfixing lesions, which is more common in duodenal involvement. Laparotomy to clean the cavity associated with a corrective approach (enterorrhaphy or enterectomy with primary anastomosis) was successfully indicated in cases of late diagnosis with signs of peritonitis, a situation that is most commonly found in transfixing lesions of ileum and jejunum.

Abstract
Undifferentiated abdominal pain is a common presentation often requiring immediate medical or surgical intervention. Providing an accurate diagnosis involves a detailed patient history and thorough physical exam. Point of care ultrasound is gaining acceptance as a rapid diagnostic tool that can be used to accurately detect life-threatening conditions while potentially avoiding unnecessary radiation exposure and facilitating rapid treatment. Detection of pneumoperitoneum with point-of-care ultrasound is a simple procedure that relies heavily on the experience of the investigating practitioner. Standard technique involves placing a high-frequency linear-array transducer in the right upper quadrant, where abdominal free air is most likely to accumulate. Detection of the ‘gut point’, which is the transition of abdominal wall sliding to lack thereof in a single image, is the pathognomonic finding of pneumoperitoneum. If visualization is difficult, moving the patient to the left lateral decubitus position or using the scissors technique can provide additional image views. This representative case report and review highlights the use of abdominal POCUS for the diagnosis of pneumoperitoneum. Ultrasound should continue to be explored by clinicians to narrow the differential diagnosis of acute abdominal pain.

Abstract
Percutaneous access for treatment of renal pathologies is a minimally invasive modality, although it can present complications. Small bowel lesions are rare but correct diagnosis and management are essential to prevent major complications. A patient submitted to an uncomplicated percutaneous nephrolithotomy presented jejunal transfixing perforation with a stable clinical progression. It was first managed conservatively unsuccessfully. Therefore, a laparotomy with enterectomy was necessary, with a favorable outcome. In transfixing lesions of the small bowel, diagnosis may be difficult and delayed. This contributes to conservative management failures and the requirement of laparotomy with enterectomy in order to reduce further complications.

Abstract
Bowel perforation is an emergency condition. Common causes of bowel perforation include infection, infarction, radiation enteritis, Crohn's disease, and cancer. Ingested foreign body causing bowel perforation is rare. Wooden toothpick-related injuries are uncommon. We report a case of ileal perforation caused by ingested wooden toothpick preoperatively diagnosed by ultrasound and computed tomography.

Abstract
Small bowel perforation by an ingested foreign body (FB) is a rare abdominal emergency. Computed tomography scan is most effective but imperfect for diagnosis. Inquiring about FB ingestion and a high index of suspicion are very important. Laparoscopic surgery is effective even in this rare abdominal emergency. Extracorporeal handling of the affected small bowel is useful in this condition.
Introduction Presently, the advantage of laparoscopic surgery is widely recognized and it is gaining popularity not only in elective abdominal surgeries but also in various kinds of emergent abdominal surgeries. This report describes two patients diagnosed with ileal perforation due to an ingested foreign body (FB)—a rare abdominal emergency—who were treated laparoscopically. Presentation of case Both patients were brought in by an ambulance to our hospital, with complaints of increasing lower abdominal pain. Computed tomography scan revealed a small bowel perforation due to an ingested FB in both patients, and laparoscopy-assisted partial ileal resection was immediately performed. Their postoperative recoveries were uneventful. Discussion Both patients with this rare abdominal emergency were successfully treated with laparoscopic surgery. Its feasible diagnostic and therapeutic abilities and decreased invasiveness contributed to their uneventful and fast recoveries. Extracorporeal handling of the affected small bowel via mini-laparotomy was useful in this setting as it was safe, fast, and cost-effective. Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery is effective, even for this rare abdominal emergency. Moreover, laparoscopy-assisted surgery accompanying mini-laparotomy is a rational treatment approach, especially for this condition.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Spontaneous free perforation of the small bowel is unusual. There are many causes of spontaneous small bowel free perforation such as: immune-mediated or inflammatory, infections, drugs and biological agents, congenital, metabolic, vascular and neoplasm. A severe adverse effect of antipsychotic drugs is intestinal ischemia, which could lead to perforation. CASE PRESENTATION The authors report the clinical case of a 42-year-old schizophrenic patient, smoker, medicated with clozapine 600 mg per day, admitted to the emergency room with diffuse abdominal pain. On physical examination the patient presented abdominal rebound tenderness and peritoneal sign with raised inflammation markers and the abdominal tomography revealed pneumoperitoneum. An emergency laparotomy revealed multiple jejunal and ileal perforations. The patient was subject to small bowel resection complicated with anastomosis dehiscence, respiratory tract infection and intra-abdominal abscess. Histologic specimens showed nonspecific inflammatory findings with ischemia. The main infectious, inflammatory, congenital, auto-immune and vascular causes of spontaneous perforations were excluded. DISCUSSION Spontaneous free perforation of the small bowel is uncommon. An intestinal ischemia might be a rare adverse effect of antipsychotics. However, only colon perforations due to ischemic colitis are described in the literature. While diagnosis of the precise cause might be challenging, and after excluding other causes, these perforations may be attributed to an adverse effect of clozapine. CONCLUSION The cause was attributed to clozapine as the other etiologies were excluded. The clozapine's reintroduction is controversial. In this case the clozapine dose was reduced successfully.

Abstract
Objectives: Although non-traumatic Small Bowel Perforations (SBPs) are rare, they have high rates of morbidity and mortality in case of late presentation. Aetiological factors vary across different geographical regions. In this paper, SBPs caused by anything other than trauma and other well-known causes are presented and the current literature is reviewed. Methods: The study was conducted at General Surgery Clinics of two different tertiary university hospitals between January 2008 and September 2016. The authors directly involved in managing the patients. This study was approved by the ethical institutional board and was performed at the Department of General Surgery, School of Medicine, Sakarya University. The medical records of patients retained in both hospitals are electronic. Medical records of subjects who had undergone emergency operations with a prediagnosis of acute abdomen in single center, and were determined to have SBPs due to unusual causes, were investigated retrospectively. Patients with aetiological factors such as trauma, mesenteric vascular disease, internal and external hernias, intra abdominal adhesions, inflammatory bowel diseases, and iatrogenic causes were excluded. Results: In total, 35 patients were evaluated, 20 (57.1%) males and 15 (42.9%) females. The mean age of the cases was 51.6 (18–88) years. Mean time until admission at the hospital was 1.4 days (range 0.25–7 days). The most frequent aetiological factors were various malignancies (10 cases, 28.5%) and perforation of Meckel’s diverticulum (8 cases, 22.8%). It was surprising to detect a considerable rate of perforation due to bezoars (6 patients, 17.1%). Conclusions: Post-operative consequences of SBPs due to unusual causes are similar with those related to common, known causes. Factors affecting the clinical course are presentation time and patients’ clinical status in admission, not aetiology.

Abstract
A 74-year-old man visited our hospital complaining of abdominal pain. An abdominal computed tomography scan showed multiple wall thickness of the small bowel. Capsule endoscopy was recommended for further evaluation, and patency capsule examination was performed. Eighteen hours after patency capsule ingestion, he experienced small bowel perforation with severe peritonitis caused by intestinal pressure rising because of the patency capsule trapped in his terminal ileum. An ileocolic resection was performed, including the removal of the sclerotic ileum as an emergency surgery. A pathological examination showed transmural inflammation and multiple ulcers with perforation of the small intestine, consistent with Crohn's disease. Here, we report a rare and valuable case of novel tag-less AgileTM patency capsule (Given Imaging Ltd., Yoqneam, Israel) retention leading to small bowel perforation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Invasive aspergillosis (IA) represents a major cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. Involvement of the gastrointestinal tract by Aspergillus is mostly reported as part of a disseminated infection from a primary pulmonary site and only rarely as an isolated organ infection. METHODS We report a case of small bowel perforation due to IA in a patient with acute leukemia under chemotherapy and pulmonary aspergillosis. We performed a systematic review of the literature as well. RESULTS A 43-year-old man with acute myeloid leukemia under chemotherapy developed severe neutropenia and pulmonary aspergillosis due to Aspergillus flavus. He developed melena and hemodynamic failure and a contrast-enhanced ultrasound scan suggested active intestinal bleeding. During emergency laparotomy we found multiple intestinal abscesses, several perforations of intestinal loop and Aspergillus flavus was isolated from the abscesses. Resection of the jejunum was performed. The patient received voriconazole and finally recovered. The patient is now alive and in complete disease remission. From literature review we found 35 intestinal IA previously published in single case reports or small case series as well. CONCLUSION Clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal aspergillosis are nonspecific, such as abdominal pain, and only occasionally it presents as an acute abdomen. Antemortem detection of bowel involvement is rarely achieved and, only in cases of complicated gastrointestinal aspergillosis, the diagnosis is achieved thanks to the findings during surgery. Gastrointestinal aspergillosis should be suspected in patients with severe and prolonged neutropenia with or without pulmonary involvement in order to consider the right therapy and prompt surgery.

Abstract
Small bowel perforation is a unique, serious complication during endometrial biopsy. The authors report a case of a double uterine-ileal perforation totally managed by primary laparoscopic repair. A 63-year-old female was admitted with acute abdomen 2 days after an endometrial curettage. Abdominal X-ray shows signs of pneumoperitoneum. Emergency diagnostic laparoscopy was performed and a uterine-ileal perforation was identified. Repair was accomplished by a totally laparoscopic intracorporeally suturing of the 2 breaches. Postoperative course showed only a delayed ileus and the patient was discharged after 5 days with no complications. When acute abdomen arises following uterine biopsy, a potential iatrogenic intestinal laceration always has to be ruled out. Laparoscopic approach is a quick and safe technique in these cases. Totally laparoscopic primary closure of the iatrogenic ileal laceration may be accomplished with low morbidity.

Abstract
Umbilical hernias are estimated to occur in up to 20% of patients with long-standing cirrhosis and ascites. Complications such as strangulation and infarction of the bowel or rupture of the bowel loops and/or hernia sac are uncommon but potentially life-threatening consequences. Often these events happen in association with abdominal trauma or after procedures such as paracentesis. Spontaneous rupture is more likely in cases where strangulation and subsequent necrosis of the bowel has weakened and thinned the incarcerated intestinal wall. We report a case of a 63-year-old male with a history of alcohol abuse complicated by cirrhosis and ascites who was found dead in his home approximately 30 minutes after last being seen alive. He was found at rest in a seated position without evidence of recent trauma. At autopsy, an ulcerated umbilical hernia was present containing a loop of perforated, necrotic small bowel. There was evidence of peritonitis including one liter of yellow-red fluid accumulation in the peritoneal cavity, multifocal areas of fibrinopurulent debris adherent to the small bowel, and a dull gray discoloration to the peritoneal lining. The case was signed out as death due to peritonitis and spontaneous perforation of small intestine due to strangulated and infarcted small intestinal umbilical hernia and the manner, natural. Although spontaneous perforation of the bowel within a hernia sac is uncommon, it may contribute to sudden death in patients lacking a history of trauma or recent medical procedures and physicians certifying these deaths should be aware of the possibility.

Abstract
Introduction Jejunoileal diverticulosis (JID) is a rare condition associated with nonspecific symptoms, consisting of acquired false diverticula. It frequently co-exists with colonic diverticulosis. Diagnosis is usually made incidentally or after complications. These include hemorrhage, obstruction and diverticulitis, with or without perforation. Presentation of case 81-year-old man presented with a painful abdominal mass in the right lower quadrant (RLQ), diffuse abdominal discomfort and fever. Abdominal examination confirmed a well-defined mass in the RLQ without rebound tenderness. Laboratory analysis revealed elevated inflammatory markers and CT scan showed a cavitated lesion with an air-fluid level in the RLQ, without evidence of intraperitoneal free air or fluid. Admitted for conservative treatment, failure to improve led to laparotomy on the 6th day of hospitalization, with identification of jejunoileal diverticulosis complicated with diverticulitis and walled-off perforation. We performed segmental enterectomy. Discussion The incidence of JID is estimated at 0.2–7% and it is usually diagnosed in the sixth/seventh decade of life. From a diagnostic perspective, JID is a challenging disorder, without reliable diagnostic tests. Diverticulitis is the most common complication. Perforation generally causes only localized peritonitis, as involved diverticula are often walled off by the surrounding mesentery. In selected cases, medical therapy may suffice. For all other patients prompt laparotomy with segmental intestinal resection is the treatment of choice. Conclusion JID remains under diagnosed. When it presents as an acute complication it may require immediate surgical intervention. In an elderly person, especially with known gastrointestinal diverticulosis, one must have a high index of suspicion for perforation. Jejunoileal diverticulosis is rare and it's symptoms usually nonspecific. Diagnosis is usually made incidentally or after the development of complications. Chronic symptoms are frequent, mainly abdominal pain or malabsorption. Diverticulitis, with or without perforation, is the most common complication. Although surgery is the definite treatment, medical therapy can be considered.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Laparoscopy for abdominal surgical emergencies is gaining increasing acceptance given the spreading of advanced laparoscopic skills among modern surgeons, as it may allow at the same time an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of acute abdomen. The use of the laparoscopic approach also in case of diffuse peritonitis is now becoming accepted provided hemodynamic stability, despite the common belief in the past decades that such severe condition represented an indication for conversion to open surgery or an immediate contraindication to continue laparoscopy. Crohn's Disease (CD) is a rare cause of acute abdomen and peritonitis, only a few cases of CD acute perforations are reported in the published literature; these cases have always been approached and treated by open laparotomy. CASE DESCRIPTION We report on a case of a faecal peritonitis due to an acute perforation caused by a terminal ileitis in an undiagnosed CD. The patient underwent diagnostic laparoscopy followed by a laparoscopic ileo-colic resection and primary intracorporeal anastomosis, with a successful postoperative outcome. CONCLUSIONS Complicated CD has to be considered within the possible causes of small bowel non-traumatic perforation. Emergency laparoscopy with resection and primary intra-corporeal anastomosis can be feasible and may be a safe and effective minimally invasive alternative to open surgery even in case of faecal peritonitis, in selected stable patients and in presence of appropriate laparoscopic colorectal surgical skills and experience. To the best of our knowledge the present experience is the first ever reported case managed with a totally laparoscopic extended ileocecal resection with intracorporeal anastomosis in case of acutely perforated CD and diffuse peritonitis.

Abstract
Jejunoileal diverticula are rare and generally asymptomatic. In the few cases of patients who develop complications such as diverticulitis, perforation, obstruction, and/or hemorrhage, conventional treatment consists of surgical resection. We describe a case of perforated jejunoileal diverticulum with localized abscess and highlight the merits of surgical vs medical management. The patient is a 77-year-old male who presented with sharp, constant abdominal pain just inferior to the umbilicus. Administration of intravenous antibiotics results in complete and long-term resolution of the patient’s symptoms. In this report, we establish a framework for safely treating perforated small bowel diverticulum without surgical exploration.

Abstract
Perforation of the gastrointestinal tract by ingested foreign bodies is extremely rare in otherwise healthy patients, accounting for < 1% of cases. Accidentally ingested foreign bodies could cause small bowel perforation through a hernia sac, Meckel’s diverticulum, or the appendix, all of which are uncommon. Despite their sharp ends and elongated shape, bowel perforation caused by ingested fish bones is rarely reported, particularly in patients without intestinal disease. We report a case of 57-year-old female who visited the emergency room with periumbilical pain and no history of underlying intestinal disease or intra-abdominal surgery. Abdominal computed tomography and exploratory laparotomy revealed a small bowel micro-perforation with a 2.7-cm fish bone penetrating the jejunal wall.

Abstract
Degos’ disease, otherwise known as “malignant atrophic papulosis” is a rare vasculopathy with an unknown etiology characterized by typical cutaneous lesions. Involvement of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is observed in approximately half of patients and small infarctions in the mucosa can cause perforation and resulting peritonitis, the leading cause of death. We present a fatal case of Degos’ disease with skin and GI involvement, manifesting as recurrent intestinal perforations and peritonitis, in a 15-year-old Iranian boy.

Abstract
Duodenal stents are frequently used for palliating malignant gastric outlet obstruction. Successful stent placement relieves obstructive symptoms, is cost effective, and has a relatively low complication rate. However, enteral stents have the potential of migrating distally and rarely, even lead to bowel perforation. We present a rare case of a duodenal stent placed as a palliative measure for gastric outlet obstruction due to unresectable pancreatic cancer that migrated distally after a gastrojejunostomy resulting in small bowel perforation.
