The first neurosurgical service in Texas: neurosurgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch (1937-2023)

The authors present a historical analysis of the first neurosurgical service in Texas. Initially established as a subdivision within the Department of Surgery in the early 1900s, this service eventually evolved into the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).
