Abstract
OBJECTIVES While surgery plays a crucial role in treating papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the potential effects of subsequent TSH suppression therapy on prognosis should not be overlooked. This study aims to investigate the factors that influence postoperative TSH suppression therapy in patients with PTC. METHODS This study was a retrospective cohort study conducted at our hospital. It included 268 patients who underwent surgery and were pathologically diagnosed with PTC between February 2019 and February 2021. The selected patients received postoperative TSH suppression therapy. Based on the TSH level measured 12 months after surgery, the patients were divided into two groups: TSH level conforming group (n = 80) and non-conforming group (n = 188). We then compared the general clinical data, clinicopathological characteristics, preoperative laboratory test indicators, postoperative levothyroxine sodium tablet dosage, follow-up frequency, and thyroid function-related indicators between the two groups of patients. The correlation between the observed indicators and the success of TSH suppression therapy was further analyzed, leading to the identification of influencing factors for TSH suppression therapy. RESULTS There were no statistically significant differences in general clinical data and clinicopathological characteristics between the two groups of patients (P > 0.05). The proportion of patients with preoperative TSH ≥ 2.0 mU/L was higher in the non-conforming group compared to the TSH level conforming group (P < 0.05), and the ROC curve analysis indicated that the area under the curve for the preoperative TSH index was 0.610 (P < 0.05). The proportion of patients in the TSH level conforming group who took oral levothyroxine sodium tablets at a dose of ≥ 1.4 µg/kg·d after surgery was higher (P < 0.05). The postoperative levels of FT3 and FT4 were higher in the TSH level conforming group (P < 0.05). The results of binary logistic regression analysis indicated that factors "Postoperative TSH level ≥ 2 mU/L", "Levothyroxine sodium tablet dose<1.4 µg/kg·d", and "Combined with Hashimoto thyroiditis" were significantly associated with an elevated risk of postoperative TSH levels failing to reach the target (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Optimal thyroid function in patients with PTC post-surgery is best achieved when adjusting the dose of levothyroxine sodium in a timely manner to reach the target TSH level during follow-up visits.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In clinical practice, contralateral incidental malignant foci (CIMFs) can be found in some early (cT1N0M0) papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs) on postoperative pathological examination. To screen out the patients with high risk of CIMF preoperatively would help in determining the extent of thyroid surgery. METHODS From October 2016 to February 2021, 332 patients diagnosed with early (cT1N0M0) PTC who underwent total thyroidectomy were included and randomly allocated into a training dataset (n = 233) and a test dataset (n = 99). Demographic and clinicopathological features were recorded and analyzed using logistic regression analysis. A coefficient-based nomogram was developed and validated. RESULTS Logistic regression analyses revealed that the predictive model including BRAF V600E mutation, multifocality and margin of the contralateral nodule achieved the best diagnostic performance. The nomogram showed good discrimination, with AUCs of 0.795 (95 % CI, 0.736-0.853) for the training set and 0.726 (95 % CI, 0.609-0.843) for the test set. The calibration curve of the nomogram presented good agreement. CONCLUSION The risk stratification system can be used to quantify the probability of CIMF and may assist in helping the patients choose total thyroidectomy or thyroid lobectomy with early (cT1N0M0) PTC.

Abstract
Purpose Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1α2 (eEF1A2) promotes tumour progression in various cancers. We performed a pan-cancer analysis of eEF1A2 and explored its role in thyroid carcinoma (THCA). Methods Databases from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the University of Alabama at Birmingham Cancer data analysis Portal (UALCAN), and the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) were used to investigate the differential expression of eEF1A2 in pan-cancer. The pathological stage, prognostic characteristics, tumour microenvironment (TME), tumour mutational burden (TMB), and microsatellite instability (MSI) were analysed in diverse tumours with different expression levels of eEF1A2. The expression levels in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and its specific role in cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell glycolysis in PTC cells were verified by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), immunohistochemistry, cell counting kit-8, colony formation, wound healing, Transwell assay, and lactate acid and glucose assays.Results:eEF1A2 was differentially expressed in various malignant tumour tissues compared to control tissues and was associated with poor pathological stage and prognosis in most types of tumours. Moreover, eEF1A2 expression closely correlated with the infiltration of immunosuppressive cells, TMB, and MSI in some tumour types. Expression of eEF1A2 in PTC is higher than the para-carcinoma, and eEF1A2 downregulation suppressed TPC-1 and BCPAP cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis. Conclusion Our study suggests that the expression of eEF1A2 is related to the prognosis and immune infiltration of some tumours and may be a predictor of prognosis and immunotherapy. eEF1A2 could promote malignant behaviour of PTC cells.

Abstract
AMIS: Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is the most common type of autoimmune thyroiditis and is a risk factor for the occurrence of thyroid papillary carcinoma (PTC). The study aimed to explore the distribution of CARD9 rs4077515 polymorphism in HT and PTC patients, in order to evaluate its association with the occurrence and development of HT. METHODS 150 HT patients and 120 PTC cases were included. Genotypes of CARD9 rs40775155 polymorphism were sequenced and counted. RESULTS A remarkable increase trend of rs4077515 AA genotype was found in HT cases in comparison with the control group, while GG genotype frequency exhibited a down trend. An excess of A allele was also detected in HT group. HT cases carrying AG and AA genotypes had high risk to receive hormonotherapy and needed a much larger dose. In comparison with HT cases, both AG and AA appeared more frequently in PTC patients, and are associated with the tumor size, LN metastasis and surgical margin. The AG (OR = 2.566, 95 % CI = 1.376-4.786) and AA (OR = 3.040, 95 % CI = 1.525-6.060) genotype carriers had a greater risk of developing PTC. The A allele of rs4077515 polymorphism was a risk allele for the onset of PTC among HT cases (OR = 1.775, 95 % CI = 1.260-2.502). CONCLUSION CARD9 rs4077515 polymorphism is likely to be a risk factor for HT in the Chinese Han population, it also contributes to the development of PTC for HT patients.

Abstract
This current case report presents the detailed clinicopathological analysis of three patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, each of which presented with the ‘snowstorm appearance’ on ultrasonography. Ultrasonography of this tumour typically shows a diffusely enlarged thyroid with hypoechoic and heterogeneous internal echoes, and diffusely scattered microcalcifications, which form the ‘snowstorm appearance’. Microscopically, case 1 had a large number of psammoma bodies, infiltration of lymphocytes, formation of lymphatic follicles and extensive squamous metaplasia, leading to the diagnosis of a diffuse sclerosing variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (DSVPTC). Case 2 was diagnosed with follicular papillary thyroid carcinoma. Their tumour had numerous calcifications in the stroma and follicles. Case 3 was diagnosed with a multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma in the background of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Their tumour showed calcification in the stroma and follicles, together with cervical lymph node metastasis. DSVPTC is a rare variant of thyroid papillary carcinoma. It has the ‘snowstorm appearance’ on ultrasound, but this can also be found in follicular papillary carcinoma and multifocal thyroid papillary carcinoma. Papillary thyroid carcinoma with the ‘snowstorm appearance’ has a large number of peripheral lymph nodes metastases, thus requiring radical surgery and postoperative adjuvant therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common thyroid cancer. While many patients survive, a portion of PTC cases display high aggressiveness and even develop into refractory differentiated thyroid carcinoma. This may be alleviated by developing a novel model to predict the risk of recurrence. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death (RCD) driven by lethal accumulation of lipid peroxides, is regulated by a set of genes and shows a variety of metabolic changes. To elucidate whether ferroptosis occurs in PTC, we analyse the gene expression profiles of the disease and established a new model for the correlation. METHODS The thyroid carcinoma (THCA) datasets were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), UCSC Xena and MisgDB, and included 502 tumour samples and 56 normal samples. A total of 60 ferroptosis related genes were summarised from MisgDB database. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and Gene set variation analysis (GSVA) were used to analyse pathways potentially involving PTC subtypes. Single sample GSEA (ssGSEA) algorithm was used to analyse the proportion of 28 types of immune cells in the tumour immune infiltration microenvironment in THCA and the hclust algorithm was used to conduct immune typing according to the proportion of immune cells. Spearman correlation analysis was performed on the ferroptosis gene expression and the correlation between immune infiltrating cells proportion. We established the WGCNA to identify genes modules that are highly correlated with the microenvironment of immune invasion. DEseq2 algorithm was further used for differential analysis of sequencing data to analyse the functions and pathways potentially involving hub genes. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis was performed using Clusterprofiler to explore the clinical efficacy of hub genes. Univariate Cox analysis was performed for hub genes combined with clinical prognostic data, and the results was included for lasso regression and constructed the risk regression model. ROC curve and survival curve were used for evaluating the model. Univariate Cox analysis and multivariate Cox analysis were performed in combination with the clinical data of THCA and the risk score value, the clinical efficacy of the model was further evaluated. RESULTS We identify two subtypes in PTC based on the expression of ferroptosis related genes, with the proportion of cluster 1 significantly higher than cluster 2 in ferroptosis signature genes that are positively associated. The mutations of Braf and Nras are detected as the major mutations of cluster 1 and 2, respectively. Subsequent analyses of TME immune cells infiltration indicated cluster 1 is remarkably richer than cluster 2. The risk score of THCA is in good performance evaluated by ROC curve and survival curve, in conjunction with univariate Cox analysis and multivariate Cox analysis results based on the clinical data shows that the risk score of the proposed model could be used as an independent prognostic indicator to predict the prognosis of patients with papillary thyroid cancer. CONCLUSIONS Our study finds seven crucial genes, including Ac008063.2, Apoe, Bcl3, Acap3, Alox5ap, Atxn2l and B2m, and regulation of apoptosis by parathyroid hormone-related proteins significantly associated with ferroptosis and immune cells in PTC, and we construct the risk score model which can be used as an independent prognostic index to predict the prognosis of patients with PTC.

Abstract
Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy, and thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has the highest incidence rate, accounts for about 85%~90% of thyroid carcinoma. There are many markers of PTC, such as murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1 (BRAF), telomerase reverse transcriptase, Ki-67, microRNA-146b, PDZ and LIM domain 5 (PDLIM5). Among them, BRAF plays an important role in the carcinogenesis, development and prognosis of PTC. This article summarizes the research progress of BRAF signaling pathway, its role in the carcinogenesis, development and prognosis of PTC, its clinical correlation with the clinical pathological characteristics of PTC, and its application in the diagnosis and treatment of PTC to provide the references to readers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Thyroid carcinoma is the most common endocrine tumor, and thyroid papillary carcinoma is the most common form. Although thyroid papillary carcinoma presents a good prognosis, some patients still exhibit recurrence or distant metastasis. miR-1301-3p has been found involved in the occurrence and development of some special tumors. Our study aims to investigate the miR-1301-3p expression in thyroid papillary carcinoma, to explore its biological function, and to provide a potential marker for diagnosis and treatment of thyroid papillary carcinoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS The tissue samples from 70 patients with PTC (n = 35) and benign tumors (n = 35) were collected respectively. miR-1301-3p expression were detected by qPCR. Diagnostic value of miR-1301-3p was analyzed by ROC curve. CCK-8 assays and flow cytometry were performed to detect the effect of miR-1301-3p on TPC-1 function. PCNA expression of protein was detected by WB. RESULTS Compared with the normal group, the expression of miR-1301-3p was obviously decreased in both benign group and PTC group. With the higher T and N grades, the lower expression of miR-1301-3p. ROC curve analysis showed that the diagnostic values of miR-1301-3p for benign tumor and PTC were 0.766 and 0.881, respectively. Vitro experiments showed that miR-1301-3p was decreased in TPC-1 cells, then, upregulated miR-1301-3p blocked the TPC-1 cell cycle in G1/S phase, and inhibited the proliferation. PCNA expression was significantly increased in TPC-1 cells and significantly decreased after upregulation of miR-1301-3p. CONCLUSION The present study showed that the expression of miR-1301-3p in PTC was significantly decreased, which was related to T and N grade. Upregulation of miR-1301-3p could inhibit cell proliferation and cell migration. miR-1301-3p may serve as a potential biomarker for the early diagnosis and treatment of PTC.

Abstract
Background Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy; basigin (also known as BSG) plays a crucial role in tumor cell invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. This study was designed to identify the change of BSG expression in TC and its possible potential mechanism. Methods The BSG expression levels in TC were demonstrated using data collected from in-house immunohistochemical (IHC), RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), microarrays, and literatures. Integrated analysis was performed to determined BSG expression levels in TC comprehensively. The Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed with the integration of BSG co-expressed genes and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in TC tissues to explore the potential mechanisms of BSG in TC. Results The protein expression level of BSG was significantly higher in TC cases based on the IHC experiments. In addition, the combined SMD for BSG expression was 0.39 (p < 0.0001), the diagnostic odds ratio was 3.69, and the AUC of the sROC curve was 0.6986 using 1182 TC cases and 437 non-cancerous cases from 17 independent datasets. Furthermore, BSG co-expressed genes tended to be enriched in gene terms of the extracellular matrix (ECM), cell adhesion, and cell-cell interactions. The expression levels of nine hub BSG co-expressed genes were markedly upregulated in TC cases. Conclusion BSG expression levels were closely correlated with the progression of TC and may affect the signals of the ECM, cell adhesion, and cell-cell interactions.

Abstract
Background It is important to distinguish benign thyroid nodules from malignant thyroid nodules. Hence, this study aimed to determine the characteristics of patients with thyroid cancer using thyroid ultrasonography. Methods We retrospectively examined the ultrasonographic findings of 327 patients with 457 thyroid nodules (age: 59.9 ± 14.3 years; sex, n (%): female 242 (74.0%)) at a single center from 2014 to 2016. Ultrasonography was used to determine the nodule size, shape, border, internal echogenicity, presence of coarse calcifications and microcalcifications within the nodule, internal blood flow and whether the nodule was solid or contained cystic structures. Thyroid fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was performed in all patients. The ultrasonographic findings were compared between patients with benign nodules and those with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Furthermore, in the analysis of anti-thyroglobulin (Tg) antibody-negative patients with single nodules, values of serum Tg/nodule volume were calculated and compared between patients with benign nodules and those with PTC. Results There were 298 (65.2%) benign nodules, 33 (7.2%) PTCs and 126 (27.6%) others (104 follicular neoplasms, 19 masses of undetermined significance and three other malignant tumors). The nodules diagnosed as PTC had significantly lower internal echogenicity (P < 0.01), more microcalcifications (P < 0.01) and comprised more nodules rich in blood flow (P < 0.05) than benign nodules. Solid nodules were found significantly more in the PTC group (P < 0.01). The serum Tg/nodule volume ratio was significantly higher in the PTC group (P < 0.05). Conclusions Findings suggestive of PTC were found from images obtained using thyroid ultrasonography. In the diagnosis of PTC, the frequency of FNAC examinations should be reduced as this method is costly and invasive.

Abstract
Thyroglossal duct cyst carcinoma concurrent with another thyroid gland carcinoma as two separate tumours are rare. Ultrasound scan and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration and cytology are useful for diagnosis and for follow up. Excision of thyroglossal duct cyst carcinoma and total thyroidectomy is ideal treatment option to facilitate future radioactive iodine ablation if required.
Introduction Malignancy of thyroglossal duct cyst (TGDC) is rare, usually as papillary carcinoma, and less frequently as squamous cell or follicular carcinoma. TGDC carcinoma can present as a mass arising from the neck, with or without compression symptoms. Papillary carcinoma in TGDC concomitant with another papillary carcinoma in the thyroid gland is extremely rare. Presentation of case : 31 years old female with a neck lump since 2 years, slowly increasing in size, with mild pain while drinking fluids, and no change of voice. No past history of neck irradiation or family history of thyroid cancers. Ultrasonography of the neck showed TGDC and right thyroid nodule. Ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration and cytology of the TGDC showed TGDC papillary carcinoma. The patient underwent Sistrunk’s procedure and total thyroidectomy. Discussion Rare case of classic papillary carcinoma arising in TGDC, concomitant with another papillary carcinoma in the right thyroid nodule. Preoperative work up included US and fine needle aspiration and cytology (FNAC). Post-operative histopathology showed papillary carcinoma in the TGDC; and another in the right thyroid lobe that was a papillary carcinoma with follicular patterns. Conclusions TGDC carcinoma concurrent with another carcinoma in the right thyroid lobe as two separate tumours are extremely rare. All patients should undergo Sistrunk’s procedure, and total thyroidectomy for the thyroid tumour. Follow-up requires thyroxine replacement therapy to treat hypothyroidism and to suppress TSH in order to prevent recurrence; and neck ultrasound and thyroglobulin tumour marker to detect recurrence if present.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The authors present the guidelines of the French Society of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Society on diagnostic procedures for lymphadenopathy in case of a cervical mass with cystic aspect. METHODS A multidisciplinary work-group was entrusted with a review of the scientific literature on the topic. Guidelines were drawn up, then read over by an editorial group independent of the work-group, and the final version was drawn up. Guidelines were graded as A, B, C or expert opinion, by decreasing level of evidence. RESULTS In adults presenting a cystic cervical mass, it is recommended to suspect cervical lymphadenopathy: in order of decreasing frequency, cystic metastasis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, of undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and of thyroid papillary carcinoma (Grade C). On discovery of a cystic cervical mass on ultrasound, architectural elements indicating a lymph node and a thyroid nodule with signs of malignancy should be screened for, especially if the mass is located in levels III, IV or VI (Grade A). Malignant lymphadenopathy should be suspected in case of cervical mass with cystic component on CT (Grade B), but benign or malignant status cannot be diagnosed only on radiological data (CT or MRI) (Grade A), and 18-FDG PET-CT should be performed, particularly in case of inconclusive ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (Grade C).

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical feature of the poorly differentiated thyroid papillary carcinoma. METHODS We investigate retrospectively 276 thyroid papillary carcinoma patients who underwent initial treatment at our Department who underwent initial treatment at our Department during the 13-year period from 2000 to 2012. We examine the pathological samples of papillary carcinoma retrospectively to investigate the prevalence of a poorly differentiated component in the tumor. Then the disease-specific survival rate, metastasis-free survival rate, and relapse-free survival rate were compared between patients with or without a poorly differentiated component. In addition, well differentiated carcinoma and poorly differentiated carcinoma were compared in relation to the age, sex, TNM stage, and recurrent laryngeal nerve infiltration. RESULTS It was considered appropriate to define tumors with a poorly differentiated component of 10% or more as poorly differentiated carcinoma. There was a significant difference of the T classification but not the N classification between well and poorly differentiated thyroid papillary carcinomas. The disease-specific survival rate, metastasis-free survival rate, and relapse-free survival rate of patients with poorly differentiated carcinoma was significantly lower than that of patients with well differentiated carcinoma, and we considered that this might be due to the higher frequency of local infiltration in patients with poorly differentiated tumors. CONCLUSION The higher relapse rate compared with well differentiated carcinoma suggests that careful postoperative follow-up of patients with poorly differentiated carcinoma is important, particularly surveillance of distant metastasis.

Abstract
The incidence of differentiated thyroid cancer has been increasing. Nevertheless, its molecular mechanisms are not well understood. In recent years, extracellular nucleotides and nucleosides have emerged as important modulators of tumor microenvironment. Extracellular ATP is mainly hydrolyzed by NTPDase1/CD39 and NTPDase2/CD39L1, generating AMP, which is hydrolyzed by ecto-5'-nucleotidase (CD73) to adenosine, a possible promoter of tumor growth and metastasis. There are no studies evaluating the expression and functionality of these ectonucleotidases on normal or tumor-derived thyroid cells. Thus, we investigated the ability of thyroid cancer cells to hydrolyze extracellular ATP generating adenosine, and the expression of ecto-enzymes, as compared to normal cells. We found that normal thyroid derived cells presented a higher ability to hydrolyze ATP and higher mRNA levels for ENTDP1-2, when compared to papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) derived cells, which had a higher ability to hydrolyze AMP and expressed CD73 mRNA and protein at higher levels. In addition, adenosine induced an increase in proliferation and migration in PTC derived cells, whose effect was blocked by APCP, a non-hydrolysable ADP analogue, which is an inhibitor of CD73. Taken together, these results showed that thyroid follicular cells have a functional purinergic signaling. The higher expression of CD73 in PTC derived cells might favor the accumulation of extracellular adenosine in the tumor microenvironment, which could promote tumor progression. Therefore, as already shown for other tumors, the purinergic signaling should be considered a potential target for thyroid cancer management and treatment.

Abstract
We report the case of a 60-year-old man with 4 concurrent primary cancers: thyroid papillary carcinoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, gastric stromal tumor, and nodular goiter. A minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy with 3-field lymph node resection played a major role in the diagnosis and resection of all primary tumors in the same sitting. Multiorgan primary cancers are not uncommon but pose challenges in diagnosis and treatment. The mechanism of development is unknown but exposure to the same carcinogens in multiple organs has been implicated.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the clinical manifestation, imaging characteristics and outcomes of pulmonary malignant tumors in children. Method: We retrospectively collected information about seven cases of pulmonary malignant tumors in children in our hospital from Jan 2010 to Dec 2016. The information included clinical manifestation, imaging characteristics, pathologic results, and treatment. Result: (1) All the seven patients firstly visited pediatric internal medicine departments. Symptoms included cough (n=6), dyspnea (n=4), fever (n=2), anorexia (n=2), chest tightness (n=1), chest pain (n=1), lameness (n=1), abdominal distension and constipation (n=1). We did not find hemoptysis, wheezing or weight loss in those patients. Physical examinations revealed unilateral reduced breath sounds (n=5), moist rales and wheezes (n=1), and normal (n=1). Extrapulmonary signs included abdominal distension (n=2), left hip tenderness (n=1), and mass in left scrotum. We did not identify clubbing finger, anemic appearance, lymph node enlargement, or hepatosplenomegaly etc. (2) Laboratory examination results: complete blood count showed white blood cells in normal range except one case (17.44×10(9)/L). Neutrophil percentage ranged from 0.348 to 0.767. C reactive protein ranged between<1 and 162 mg/L. Hemoglobin was normal. Three out of four cases had abnormal blood tumor markers.(3) Imaging results showed multiple nodes (n=3), multiple cystic lesions in lungs (n=2) (both with pleuropulmonary blastoma), endobronchial soft tissue mass (n=1), pulmonary round-shaped mass (n=1), and mediastinal mass (n=1). Imaging results also found atelectasis (n=3), pneumonia (n=2), pneumothorax (n=2), longitudinal diaphragmatic hernia (n=2), pleural effusion (n=1), subcutaneous emphysema (n=1). (4) All the patients underwent tumor puncture biopsy or tumor resection. Pathology revealed the final diagnosis of pleuropulmonary blastoma (n=3), endodermal sinus tumors (n=2), squamous cell carcinoma of lung (n=1), and thyroid papillary carcinoma (n=1). All of them were malignant tumors. We followed up them. Two patients died (both with pleuropulmonary blastoma) after their parents refused any medical help. Two cases were lost to follow-up. Three patients survived (followed up for 19 months, 11 months and tow months, respectively). One case with thyroid papillary carcinoma pulmonary metastasis underwent right thyroid cancer radical plus left thyroid lobe resection plus modified selective central lymph node dissection, then iodine (131) treatment. One case with endodermal sinus tumor pulmonary metastasis underwent three times of chemotherapies, resection of left retroperitoneal tumor and left testicular tumor, and six additional chemotherapies. Another one case of endodermal sinus tumor pulmonary metastasis underwent three times of chemotherapies and was discharged. Conclusion: Pulmonary malignant tumors are rare diseases in children. Clinical signs are often non-specific. For those with chest CT showing multiple cystic lesions, endobronchial soft tissue mass or multiple nodes, but no significant infection manifestation or no response to anti-infection therapy, pulmonary malignant tumors should be considered. Biopsy may be needed to confirm the final diagnosis.

Abstract
Published reports on salvage treatment for trachea reconstruction after total thyroidectomy or partial tracheotomy are available, some of them using structures of the trachea itself, auricular cartilage, a musculocutaneous flap, or other methods. In our report, we emphasize the importance of a search for a new material and approach for sparing surgery. The purpose of this article is to describe a case of a successful sparing surgery in a patient with advanced thyroid papillary carcinoma invading the trachea. After total thyroidectomy in 2012, partial resection of the trachea was performed in 2014. The lesion defect was 5.5 × 2.3 cm in size, located between 4 (2nd–6th) tracheal cartilaginous rings and involving about a semicircumference. It was reconstructed with the aid of the knitted TiNi-based mesh endograft, which has been prefabricated in the sternocleidomastoid muscle and further covered with the skin draped over the wound. The tracheostoma was fully closed 6 weeks after the surgery. There were neither side effects nor complications. This kind of tracheal surgery for extensive lesions demonstrates good functional and cosmetic outcomes.

Abstract
To assess the role of [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) as a preoperative diagnostic tool in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). From 2011 to 2014, 197 patients with PTC (246 tumor foci in all) underwent FDG-PET. Among these patients, 46 underwent neck dissection for lateral neck metastasis. According to the FDG avidity of the tumor foci or lateral neck metastasis, factors associated with the prognostic value were evaluated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Among the 197 patients, 7 (3.6 %) were incidentally found to have non-thyroid origin malignancy. Additionally, 63.0 % (155/246) of PTC foci showed FDG uptake on PET/CT. Univariate analysis showed that the tumor size, the presence of extrathyroidal extension, BRAF mutation, and Hashimoto thyroiditis were associated with FDG avidity. However, except for pathological extrathyroidal extension, the other factors showed statistically significant correlations with FDG avidity (p < 0.001, p = 0.008, and p = 0.009, respectively). FDG uptake in lateral neck node metastasis showed high specificity and negative predictive value (NPV). In four cases of nonspecific findings on ultrasonography (USG)/CT, FDG avidity was helpful to diagnose the presence of lateral neck metastasis. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of PET/CT was correlated with the maximum diameter of the involved lateral node. FDG avidity did not show any significance in the recurrence-free survival of both the thyroid tumor and lateral neck metastasis. The FDG avidity of PTC did not show prognostic predictive meaning. However, in the case of lateral neck metastasis, FDG avidity showed high sensitivity and NPV, and could provide better information in cases of nonspecific findings on USG and CT.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate serum calprotectin levels and oxidative stress status in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and the changes in their levels after total thyroidectomy. The study involved 30 patients with PTC and 30 healthy controls. Blood samples were obtained from the PTC patients before and 1 month after the operation. Preoperative and postoperative serum samples from PTC patients and healthy controls were analysed for calprotectin, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS) and lipid hydroperokside (LOOH). The preoperative calprotectin, TOS, OSI and LOOH levels of the patients with PTC were significantly higher compared to those of the control group (p < 0.001, for each). The levels of calprotectin decreased significantly in patients with PTC after the operation (p < 0.001), while TAS, TOS and OSI levels remained unchanged (p = 0.313, p = 0.085 and p = 0.163, respectively). Preoperative serum calprotectin levels were positively correlated with TOS, OSI and LOOH levels and negatively correlated with TAS levels in patients with PTC. In conclusion, serum calprotectin levels is increased in patients with PTC, and calprotectin is positively correlated with TOS and LOOH. Serum calprotectin levels is significantly decreased after total thyroidectomy.

Abstract
This study was aimed to identify the prognostic risk markers for thyroid papillary carcinoma (TPC) by bioinformatics. The clinical data of TPC and their microRNAs (miRNAs) and genes expression profile data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas. Elastic net-Cox's proportional regression hazards model (EN-COX) was used to identify the prognostic associated factors. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and Kaplan-Meier (KM) curve were used to screen the significant prognostic risk miRNA and genes. Then, the target genes of the obtained miRNAs were predicted followed by function prediction. Finally, the significant risk genes were performed literature mining and function analysis. Total 1046 miRNAs and 20531 genes in 484 cases samples were identified after data preprocessing. From the EN-COX model, 30 prognostic risk factors were obtained. Based on the 30 risk factors, 3 miRNAs and 11 genes were identified from the ROC and KM curves. The target genes of miRNA-342 such as B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2 (BCL2) were mainly enriched in the biological process related to cellular metabolic process and Disease Ontology terms of lymphoma. The target genes of miRNA-93 were mainly enriched in the pathway of G1 phase. Among the 11 prognostic risk genes, v-maf avian musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homologue F (MAFF), SRY (sex-determining region Y)-box 4 (SOX4), and retinoic acid receptor, alpha (RARA) encoded transcription factors. Besides, RARA was enriched in four pathways. These prognostic markers such as miRNA-93, miRNA-342, RARA, MAFF, SOX4, and BCL2 may be used as targets for TPC chemoprevention.

Abstract
Although there are several studies showing the association between cancer and urticaria, the mechanisms by which these events occur are not yet known. In this report, a case of acute urticaria with a diagnosis of thyroid papillary carcinoma is presented. Disappearance of treatment-resistant urticarial lesions after thyroidectomy suggests that this association was not a coincidence. The fact that urticaria which was nonresponsive to treatment disappeared spontaneously as a result of tumorectomy, strongly suggests that this association is not a coincidence. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the coexistence of acute urticaria and thyroid papillary carcinoma. This case provides further support that detailed history taking and a thorough physical examination are of paramount importance.
