Abstract
AIM
We report a case of a giant diverticulum of the sigmoid colon presenting as a mass in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen in an elderly man.
METHODS
This report highlights a rare complication of diverticular disease. At operation, the giant cyst was situated in the supracolic compartment of the abdomen. The management options and a review of the literature are presented.
CONCLUSION
CT scan is the investigation of choice. Early surgical intervention is important in order to reduce the risk of perforation.
