Abstract
Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (ENRR) is a promising and efficient method for ammonia production. However, ENRR is restricted by the adsorption and activation of N2. Herein, an efficient nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) electrocatalyst loaded with zero valent iron (ZVI) particles onto porous nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) hollow spheres is reported. The optimal Fe@10N3C-950 exhibits excellent performance with high ammonia (NH3) yield (152.28 µg h-1 mgcat-1) and Faradaic efficiency (FE, 54.55 %) at - 0.3 V (versus reversible hydrogen electrode, vs. RHE). Bader charge shows that the adsorbed N2 acquires more electrons from Fe sites with body-centered cubic (BCC) structure to better activate N2. Moreover, i-t experiments are performed before electrocatalytic NH3 production to effectively eliminate the effect of oxidation on ZVI and thus, maintain high ENRR activity for Fe@10N3C-950. Theoretical calculations indicate that nitrogen doping not only reduces the Gibbs free energy of rate determining step (RDS), but the BCC-structured Fe can also decrease the energy barriers of N2 activation and RDS.

Abstract
To optimize the imbalance between the interfacial bonding and porosity properties of carbon paper (CP) caused by phenol formaldehyde resin (PF) impregnation, and therefore improve the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), a new approach through cellulose nanofibers grafted with methyl methacrylate (CNFM) as a modified reinforcement and pore-forming agent for PF is investigated. Through suppressing the methylene backbone fracture of CNFM-modified PF during its thermal depolymerization, the interfacial bonding between PF matrix carbon and carbon fibers is enhanced. Compared with unmodified CP, the in-plane resistivity of CNFM-modified CP is reduced by 35.78 %, while the connected porosity increases to 82.26 %, and more homogeneous pore size distribution (PSD) in the range of 20-40 μm is obtained for CNFM-modified CP. Besides, the tensile strength, flexural strength, and air permeability of CNFM-modified CP increase by 72.78 %, 298.4 %, and 103.97 %, respectively. In addition, CNFM-modified CP achieves the peak power density of PEMFCs to 701.81 mW·cm-2, exhibiting 10.98 % improvement compared with commercial CP (632.39 mW·cm-2), evidently achieving an integral promotion of CP and comprehensive performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multiple families of detoxification genes, including the increasingly recognized family of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, work together to influence the toxicity of synthetic insecticides and thus their resistance. Effective management of insecticide resistance requires identification of all toxicity-affecting members from each family of toxicity-related genes. RESULTS Here, we used emamectin benzoate (EB), ABC transporters and Spodoptera frugiperda as a working case to test whether the strategy of 'from the model insect Drosophila melanogaster to agricultural pests' can identify all or most ABC transporter members related to EB tolerance in S. frugiperda. After confirming the involvement of ABC transporters in the toxicity of EB against fruit fly with the ABC inhibitor verapamil, four ABC transporter genes (DmCG3327, DmCG11147, DmCG4822, and DmCG7627) were found to be involved in EB tolerance using RNA interference-based family-wide functional screening. A combination of phylogenic analysis and a reciprocal TBLASTN search identified five S. frugiperda ABC transporter members as homologs (SfABCC4, SfABCG1, and SfABCG23) or one-way best hits (SfABCG4 and SfABCG20) of the four fly ABC genes. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis found that all five S. frugiperda ABC transporter genes were inducible by EB, and expressed in all the developmental stages and larval tissues, but with significant quantitative differences among stages and tissues. A cytotoxicity assay of ABC-overexpressing Sf9 cell lines showed that all the five S. frugiperda ABC transporter genes made Sf9 cells tolerant to EB. CONCLUSIONS This study not only identifies nine ABC transporter genes related to EB tolerance from D. melanogaster (four genes) and S. frugiperda (five genes), but also demonstrates the utility and effectiveness of the 'model to pests' strategy to identify most toxicity-affecting members from a given family of toxicity-related genes. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
The importance of selectively oxidizing aniline into value-added chemicals azoxybenzene and nitrobenzene is well-recognized in organic synthesis. However, the lack of control over selectivity and the complex synthesis of costly catalysts significantly hinder these reactions' industrial applications. In this work, an environmentally friendly approach was developed for the selective oxidization of substituted anilines. This method involves adjusting the strength of alkalinity with peroxide as the oxidant, without the addition of any metals or additives. A mild base (NaF) facilitated azoxybenzene formation, while a stronger base (NaOMe) enabled the synthesis of nitroaromatics. These protocols are user-friendly and scalable, accommodating various substitution patterns and functional groups, yielding products with high to excellent yields. The findings of this work present a framework for investigating base catalysis in organic synthesis and provide a viable and effective approach for selectively oxidizing aniline.

Abstract
Integrated agriculture-aquaculture has emerged as a promising ecological development model. Crayfish, a popular aquaculture species, are traditionally reared either in monoculture ponds (mono-C) or in rice-crayfish polyculture system (poly-RC). In this study, we introduced a novel polyculture system by combining fruit tree with crayfish (poly-FC), aiming to compare these three crayfish culture modes in terms of production performance and ecological sustainability. The results indicated that crayfish reared in the two polyculture modes exhibited significantly higher specific growth rate and condition factor compared to those in mono-C. Crayfish cultured in poly-FC also showed better muscle quality and higher levels of crude fat and flavor or essential amino acids. Isotope mixing model showed that feed and benthic animals were the primary food sources of crayfish in mono-C, whereas aquatic plants, fruit litter or rice contributed more to those in polyculture modes. For greenhouse gas emissions, poly-FC mode emitted almost no CO2 and N2O even favored negative CH4 emission, while poly-RC and mono-C modes showed positive emissions of CH4 and CO2, respectively. Supported by metagenomics, the sink of CH4 in poly-FC was probably due to the lower mcr abundance but the higher pmo abundance in water. The low production and emission of N2O in poly-FC might result from the low-abundant Nitrospirae_bacterium and its coding gene norC in sediment, consistent with the lower denitrification rate but the higher NO3- concentration than mono-C. Overall, our findings reveal the superiority of polyculture of fruit tree with crayfish in terms of production performance and greenhouse gas emissions in the system.

Abstract
PbI6 octahedron as a fundamental framework endows the perovskite with excellent photoelectric properties, but also the defective and flimsy surface. Here, we report that the treatment of perovskite surface by bidentate ligands molecules N, N'-Dimethyl-1,2-ethanediamine can in-situ form a lead iodide chelates layer with excellently robust chelated lead octahedron, leading to effectively stabilize and passivate the underlying perovskite. The strong chelation with the lead enables the surface to largely inhibit the defects generation, iodide ion migration and skeleton collapse under external stimuli. It also prolongs the carrier lifetime and adjusts the surface energy-level of perovskite. The resultant perovskite solar cells deliver a power conversion efficiency of 25.7% (certified 25.04%) and retain >90% of their initial value after almost 1000 hours aging at maximum power point under simulated AM1.5 illumination.

Abstract
Working memory (WM) involves the capacity to maintain and manipulate information over short periods. Previous research has suggested that fronto-parietal activities play a crucial role in WM. However, there remains no agreement on the effect of working memory load (WML) on neural activities and haemodynamic responses. Here, our study seeks to examine the effect of WML through simultaneous electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). In this study, a delay change detection task was conducted on 23 healthy volunteers. The task included three levels: one item, three items and five items. The EEG and fNIRS were simultaneously recorded during the task. Neural activities and haemodynamic responses at prefrontal and parietal regions were analysed using time-frequency analysis and weighted phase-lag index (wPLI). We observed a significant enhancement in prefrontal and parietal β suppression as WML increased. Furthermore, as WML increased, there was a notable enhancement in fronto-parietal connectivity (FPC), as evidenced by both EEG and fNIRS. Correlation analysis indicated that as WML increased, there was a potential for enhancement of neurovascular coupling (NVC) of FPC.

Abstract
In this paper, a highly efficient copper-catalyzed oxidative dehydrogenative coupling to obtain benzo[c]cinnolines (up to 100% yield) was developed. It was found that DMAP was a highly efficient ligand for copper-catalyzed oxidation, and molecular oxygen was a green oxidizing agent. In this simple process, various functional groups were tolerated under mild reaction conditions, and the practicality of the process was demonstrated by the preparation of benzo[c]cinnolines on a gram scale and later derivatization.

Abstract
The discus fish, Symphysodon spp., a South American cichlid, has a unique parental care behavior where fry bite on parental skin mucus after hatching. In this study, we used LC-MS/MS technique to compare the skin mucus proteome composition of male or female discus fish during parental and non-parental care periods. By multivariate statistical analysis, we found clear separations between different periods and between different sexes of mucus proteome. Compared with non-parental female fish, parental female fish had 283 up-regulated and 235 down-regulated expressed proteins. Compared with non-parental male fish, parental male fish had 169 up-regulated and 120 down-regulated expressed proteins. The differentially expressed proteins for male fish were enriched in sulfur relay system, mucin type O-glycan biosynthesis and antigen processing and presentation pathways, while those for female fish were enriched in sulfur relay system, steroid biosynthesis and complement and coagulation cascades pathways. During the parental care, both male and female discus showed an enhanced lipid metabolism, producing more phospholipids and cholesterol. The difference is that male discus had increased tricarboxylic acid cycle producing more energy during the parental care, while females produced more nucleotides especially guanylic acid. Our study could provide new insights into the understanding of the unique mucus supply behavior of discus fish based on proteomic change.

Abstract
Blood transfusions save lives and improve health every day. Despite the matching of blood types being stricter than it ever has been, emergency transfusions among incompatible blood types are still inevitable in the clinic when there is a lack of acceptable blood types for recipients. Here to overcome this, a counter measure nanoplatform consisting of a polymeric core coated by a red blood cell (RBC) membrane is developed. With A-type or B-type RBC membrane camouflaging, the nanoplatform is capable of specifically capturing anti-A or anti-B IgM antibodies within B-type or A-type whole blood, thereby decreasing the corresponding IgM antibody levels and then allowing the incompatible blood transfusions. In addition to IgM, the anti-RBC IgG antibody in a passive immunization murine model can likewise be neutralized by this nanoplatform, leading to prolonged circulation time of incompatible donor RBCs. Noteworthily, nanoplatform made by expired RBCs (>42 days stored hypothermically) and then subjected to lyophilization does not impair their effect on antibody neutralization. Most importantly, antibody-captured RBC-NP do not exacerbate the risk of inflammation, complement activation, and coagulopathy in an acute hemorrhagic shock murine model. Overall, this biomimetic nanoplatform can safely neutralize the antibody to enable incompatible blood transfusion.

Abstract
In this study, a brand-new, easy, and environmentally friendly approach for chemically functionalizing 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxyl radical (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofiber (TOCNF) to produce modified cellulose nanofiber (octadecylamine-citric acid-CNF) was proposed. Effects of octadecylamine (ODA)/TOCNF mass ratio on the chemical structure, morphology, surface hydrophobicity and oleophobicity were studied. According to Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, ODA was successfully grafted onto the TOCNF by simple citric acid (CA) esterification and amidation reactions. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that a new rough structure was formed on the ODA-CA-CNF surface. The water contact angle (WCA) and the castor oil contact angle (OCA) of the ODA-CA-CNF reached 139.6° and 130.6°, respectively. The high-grafting-amount ODA-CA-CNF was sprayed onto paper, and the OCA reached 118.4°, which indicated good oil-resistance performance. The low-grafting-amount ODA-CNF was applied in a pH-responsive indicator film, exhibiting a colour change in response to the pH level, which can be applied in smart food packaging. The ODA-CA-CNF with excellent water/oil-resistance properties and fluorine-free properties can replace petrochemical materials and can be used in the fields of fluorine-free oil-proof paper.

Abstract
Depression is a chronic, severe, and often life-threatening neurological disorder. It not only causes depression in patients and affects daily life but, in severe cases, may lead to suicidal behavior and have adverse effects on families and society. In recent years, it has been found that sub-anesthetic doses of ketamine have a rapid antidepressant effect on patients with treatment-resistant depression and can significantly reduce the suicidal tendencies of patients with major depressive disorder. Current studies suggest that ketamine may exert antidepressant effects by blocking NMDAR ion channels, but its anesthetic and psychotomimetic side effects limit its application. Here, we report efforts to design and synthesize a novel series of ketamine derivatives of NMDAR antagonists, among which compounds 23 and 24 have improved activity compared with ketamine, introducing a new direction for the development of rapid-acting antidepressant drugs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dietary rationality and health concept have certain influence on individual health level. This study aims to explore the characteristics and existing problems of Chinese residents' health behaviors from both macro and micro perspectives, and explore the feasibility and realization path of Healthy China strategy. METHODS We utilized regression models to evaluate the correlation between diet and the risk of disease causes of death. By use of the linear regression analysis model, we distinguished the impact of each dimension on health literacy index at the individual level. Then, we explored the influential factors of the diet health index using the binary logit regression model. RESULTS Increased consumption of animal-derived foods in China has contributed to the burden of non-communicable diseases. The individuals' health awareness is still weak, and the health literacy index is greatly affected by the diet, while the individual gender and age are positively correlated with the diet health index, and the individual body mass index (BMI) level is negatively correlated with the diet health index. CONCLUSIONS This study provided a comprehensive understanding of existing problems of Chinese residents' health behaviors. We have proposed a path model for the implementation of the Healthy China strategy from the perspectives of "diet health, physical health, conceptual health and environmental health," which is also a great contribution to the world.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Liver fibrosis is a compensatory response during the tissue repair process in chronic liver injury, and finally leads to liver cirrhosis or even hepatocellular carcinoma. The pathogenesis of hepatic fibrosis is associated with the progressive accumulation of activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), which can transdifferentiate into myofibroblasts to produce an excess of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Myofibroblasts are the main source of the excessive ECM responsible for hepatic fibrosis. Therefore, activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs), the principal ECM producing cells in the injured liver, are a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis. AIM To explore the effect of taurine on aHSC proliferation and the mechanisms involved. METHODS Human HSCs (LX-2) were randomly divided into five groups: Normal control group, platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) (20 ng/mL) treated group, and low, medium, and high dosage of taurine (10 mmol/L, 50 mmol/L, and 100 mmol/L, respectively) with PDGF-BB (20 ng/mL) treated group. Cell Counting Kit-8 method was performed to evaluate the effect of taurine on the viability of aHSCs. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to estimate the effect of taurine on the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), malondialdehyde, glutathione, and iron concentration. Transmission electron microscopy was applied to observe the effect of taurine on the autophagosomes and ferroptosis features in aHSCs. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis were performed to detect the effect of taurine on the expression of α-SMA, Collagen I, Fibronectin 1, LC3B, ATG5, Beclin 1, PTGS2, SLC7A11, and p62. RESULTS Taurine promoted the death of aHSCs and reduced the deposition of the ECM. Treatment with taurine could alleviate autophagy in HSCs to inhibit their activation, by decreasing autophagosome formation, downregulating LC3B and Beclin 1 protein expression, and upregulating p62 protein expression. Meanwhile, treatment with taurine triggered ferroptosis and ferritinophagy to eliminate aHSCs characterized by iron overload, lipid ROS accumulation, glutathione depletion, and lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, bioinformatics analysis demonstrated that taurine had a direct targeting effect on nuclear receptor coactivator 4, exhibiting the best average binding affinity of -20.99 kcal/mol. CONCLUSION Taurine exerts therapeutic effects on liver fibrosis via mechanisms that involve inhibition of autophagy and trigger of ferroptosis and ferritinophagy in HSCs to eliminate aHSCs.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) could provide vector for microorganisms to form biofilm (plastisphere), but the shaping process of MPs biofilm and its effects on the structure and function of sedimentary microbial communities especially in aquaculture environments are not reported. For this, we incubated MPs biofilm in situ in an aquaculture pond and established a sediment microcosm with plastisphere. We found that the formation of MPs biofilm in surface water was basically stable after 30 d incubation, but the biofilm communities were reshaped after deposition for another 30 d, because they were more similar to plastisphere communities incubated directly within sediment but not surface water. Moreover, microbial communities of MPs-contaminated sediment were altered, which was mainly driven by the biofilm communities present on MPs, because they but not sediment communities in proximity to MPs had a more pronounced separation from the control sediment communities. In the presence of MPs, increased sediment nitrification, denitrification and N2O production rates were observed. The K00371 (NO2-⇋NO3-) pathway and elevated abundance of nxrB and narH genes were screened by metagenomic analysis. Based on structural equation model, two key bacteria (Alphaproteobacteria bacterium and Rhodobacteraceae bacterium) associated with N2O production were further identified. Overall, the settling of MPs could reshape the original biofilm and promote N2O production by selectively elevating sedimental microorganisms and functional genes in aquaculture pond.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to construct prediction models for the recognizing of anxiety disorders (AD) in patients with epilepsy (PWEs) by combining clinical features with quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) features and using machine learning (ML). METHODS Nineteen clinical features and 20-min resting-state EEG were collected from 71 PWEs comorbid with AD and another 60 PWEs without AD who met the inclusion-exclusion criteria of this study. The EEG were preprocessed and 684 Phase Locking Value (PLV) and 76 Lempel-Ziv Complexity (LZC) features on four bands were extracted. The Fisher score method was used to rank all the derived features. We constructed four models for recognizing AD in PWEs, whether PWEs based on different combinations of features using eXtreme gradient boosting (XGboost) and evaluated these models using the five-fold cross-validation method. RESULTS The prediction model constructed by combining the clinical, PLV, and LZC features showed the best performance, with an accuracy of 96.18%, precision of 94.29%, sensitivity of 98.33%, F1-score of 96.06%, and Area Under the Curve (AUC) of 0.96. The Fisher score ranking results displayed that the top ten features were depression, educational attainment, α_P3LZC, α_T6-PzPLV, α_F7LZC, β_Fp2-O1PLV, θ_T4-CzPLV, θ_F7-PzPLV, α_Fp2LZC, and θ_T4-PzPLV. CONCLUSIONS The model, constructed by combining the clinical and qEEG features PLV and LZC, efficiently identified the presence of AD comorbidity in PWEs and might have the potential to complement the clinical diagnosis. Our findings suggest that LZC features in the α band and PLV features in Fp2-O1 may be potential biomarkers for diagnosing AD in PWEs.

Abstract
Microplastic pollution has been frequently reported in natural water environments, but studies on the occurrence and characteristics of microplastic in aquaculture environments especially in pond production system are relatively scarce. Herein, we investigated the abundance and characteristics of microplastic pollution in aquaculture ponds that farm different species (fish, prawn and crab) near the Yangtze Estuary, China. The average abundance of microplastic in pond water and sediment was 36.25 ± 6.79 items/L and 271.65 ± 164.83 items/kg, respectively. Compared to fish ponds (208.43 ± 57.82 items/kg), microplastic abundance was significantly higher in sediment of crab and prawn ponds (312.02 ± 38.76 and 248.87 ± 36.51 items/kg respectively). Across all ponds, transparent, white and black microplastic were the common colors. Fiber was the most common type, accounting for 40.9% and 58.6% in pond water and sediment, respectively. The size of microplastic was mainly distributed between 300 and 1000 μm. For microplastic polymer composition, polyethylene (PE) was predominant in pond water, accounting for 55%, followed by polyamide with 15%. The predominant polymer in sediment was PE with 34%, followed by polypropylene with 18%. As for the ecological risk assessment of microplastic, the pollution load index was 7.6 (risk level I) and 8.9 (risk level I) for pond water and sediment, respectively. The polymer hazard index was 85.3 (risk level II) and 12.1 (risk level II) for pond water and sediment, respectively. Taken together, the pollution risk index was rated as high and very high for pond sediment and water, respectively. These results provide a basis for the comprehensive evaluation and developing practical approaches to deal with microplastic in aquaculture pond, which is of great significance to the healthy development of pond aquaculture.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Anxiety disorders (AD) are critical factors that significantly (about one-fifth) impact the quality of life (QoL) in patients with epilepsy (PWE). Objective diagnostic methods have contributed to the identification of PWE susceptible to AD. This study aimed to identify AD in PWE by constructing a diagnostic model based on the phase locking value (PLV) and Lempel-Ziv Complexity (LZC) features of the electroencephalogram (EEG). METHODS EEG data from 131 patients with epilepsy (PWE) were enrolled in this study. Patients were divided into two groups, anxiety disorder (AD, n = 61) and non-anxiety disorder (NAD, n = 70), according to the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A). Support vector machine (SVM) and K-Nearest-Neighbor(KNN) algorithms were used to construct three models - the PLVEEG, LZCEEG, and PLVEEG + LZCEEG feature models. Finally, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and statistical analyses were performed to evaluate the model performance. RESULTS The efficiency of the KNN-based PLCEEG + LZCEEG feature model was the best, and the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC of the model after five-fold cross-validations scores were 87.89 %, 82.27 %, 98.33 %, 88.95 %, and 0.89, respectively. When the model efficiency was optimal, 29 EEG features were suggested. Further analysis of these features indicated 22 EEG features that were significantly different between the two groups, including 50 % features of the alpha (α)-band. CONCLUSIONS The PLVEEG + LZCEEG model features can identify AD in PWE. The PLVEEG and LZCEEG characteristics of the α-band may further be explored as potential biomarkers for AD in PWE.

Abstract
Cyclic azobenzene-BODIPY hybrids were synthesized via cyclization by 1) acid-catalysed condensation of azobenzene-bridged dipyrroles with 3,5-di-tert-butylbenzaldehyde, 2) oxidation with DDQ, and 3) metalation with BF3 ⋅ Et2 O. The structures of many cyclic hybrids have been confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis. The absorption spectra of the hybrids reveal the effective cyclic conjugation. The ultrafast measurements reveal that the photoexcited decays of these cyclic hybrids depend upon the ring size and connectivity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lung cancer is a common disease with high mortality, and psychological support is very important in the diagnosis and treatment of postoperative patients with cancer pain. AIM To explore the application effect of the narrative nursing method in postoperative lung cancer patients in the intensive care unit. METHODS A total of 120 patients diagnosed with lung cancer and experiencing cancer-related pain were randomly allocated into two groups: an observation group and a control group, each consisting of 60 cases. The control group was given routine analgesic and psychological care, while the research group applied the five-step narrative nursing method based on routine care, comparing the visual analogue scale scores, sleep status, anxiety and depression status, and quality of life of the two groups of patients before and after the intervention. RESULTS The pain scores, anxiety scores, and depression scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group after the intervention using the narrative nursing method, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Using narrative nursing methods to intervene in patients with lung cancer combined with cancerous pain can help patients to correctly recognize their disease, adjust their mentality, establish confidence, alleviate patients' subjective pain feelings, and improve their adverse emotions.

Abstract
Discus fish (Symphysodon aequifasciatus) exhibit a unique parental care behavior: adult discus produces secretion through their skin, on which the larvae live after birth. The immune components in the skin mucus of parental discus would change during different parental care. C-type lectins (CTLs) could identify and eliminate pathogenic microorganisms and play important roles in innate immunity. Studies on CTLs of discus fish especially during parental care, however, are scarce. Here, we identified 186 CTL genes that distributed in 27 linkage groups based on discus genome. Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. aequifasciatus CTL (SaCTL) members were grouped into 14 subfamilies. A total of 80 gene replication events occurred, of which 15 pairs were subjected to segmental duplication and 65 pairs underwent tandem duplication. Ka/Ks ranged from 0.11 (SaCTL25/SaCTL158) to 0.68 (SaCTL36/SaCTL69), all undergoing purifying selection. RNA-seq analysis revealed that SaCTL members, including duplicated genes, in the skin of parental discus show distinct expression patterns in different care stages and between male and female parents. The SaCTL11 was differentially expressed in most care stages and reached the maximum after eggs spawned, but the expression of its paired SaCTL14 was low in each stage. The SaCTL39 increased first and then decreased, reaching a peak in eggs spawned, while paired SaCTL48 first decreased and then increased, reaching a peak in hatched eggs. The SaCTL50 was differentially expressed only in female fish during care, but not in male fish. These results provide new insights into the evolution and potential functional differentiation of CTLs in discus fish during parental care.

Abstract
Background: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the leading gynecological cancer worldwide, yet current EC screening approaches are not satisfying. The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the feasibility and capability of DNA methylation analysis in cervical Papanicolaou (Pap) brush samples for EC detection. Methods: We used quantitative methylation-sensitive PCR (qMS-PCR) to determine the methylation status of candidate genes in EC tissue samples, as well as cervical Pap brushes. The ability of RASSF1A and HIST1H4F to serve as diagnostic markers for EC was then examined in cervical Pap brush samples from women with endometrial lesions of varying degrees of severity. Results: Methylated RASSF1A and HIST1H4F were found in EC tissues. Further, methylation of the two genes was also observed in cervical Pap smear samples from EC patients. Methylation levels of RASSF1A and HIST1H4F increased as endometrial lesions progressed, and cervical Pap brush samples from women affected by EC exhibited significantly higher levels of methylated RASSF1A and HIST1H4F compared to noncancerous controls (P < .001). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and area under the curve (AUC) analyses revealed RASSF1A and HIST1H4F methylation with a combined AUC of 0.938 and 0.951 for EC/pre-EC detection in cervical Pap brush samples, respectively. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that DNA methylation analysis in cervical Pap brush samples may be helpful for EC detection, broadening the scope of the commonly used cytological screening. Our proof-of-concept study provides new insights into the field of clinical EC diagnosis.

Single crystals of the inter-metallic phase with composition Ti4Ni2C were serendipitously obtained by high-pressure sinter-ing of a mixture with initial chemical composition Ti2Ni. The Ti4Ni2C phase crystallizes in the Fd m space group and can be considered as a partially filled Ti2Ni structure with the C atom occupying an octa-hedral void. Ti4Ni2C is isotypic with Ti4Ni2O, Nb4Ni2C and Ta4Ni2C, all of which were studied previously by means of powder diffraction.

Abstract
Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly malignant type of brain tumor with limited treatment options. Recent research has focused on epigenetic regulatory factors, such as Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2), which plays a role in gene expression through epigenetic modifications. EZH2 inhibitors have been developed as potential therapeutic agents for GBM, but resistance to these inhibitors remains a considerable challenge. This study aimed to investigate the role of ribosomal S6 protein kinase 4 (RSK4) in GBM and its association with resistance to EZH2 inhibitors. We first induced drug resistance in primary GBM cell lines by treatment with an EZH2 inhibitor and observed increases in the expression of stemness markers associated with glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) in the drug-resistant cells. We also found high expression of RSK4 in GBM patient samples and identified the correlation of high RSK4 expression with poor prognosis and GSC marker expression. Further experiments showed that knocking down RSK4 in drug-resistant GBM cells restored their sensitivity to EZH2 inhibitors and decreased the expression of GSC markers, thus reducing their self-renewal capacity. From a mechanistic perspective, we discovered that RSK4 directly phosphorylates EZH2, activating the EZH2/STAT3 pathway and promoting resistance to EZH2 inhibitors in GBM. We also found that combining EZH2 inhibitors with an RSK4 inhibitor called BI-D1870 had better inhibitory effects on GBM occurrence and progression in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that RSK4 enhances cancer stemness and mediates resistance to EZH2 inhibitors in GBM. Combination treatment with EZH2 inhibitors and RSK4 inhibitors is a promising potential therapeutic strategy for GBM. Collectively, our results strongly demonstrate that RSK4 regulates the EZH2/STAT3 pathway to promote GSC maintenance and EZH2i resistance in a PRC2-independent manner, indicating that RSK4 is a promising therapeutic target for GBM.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study explored the mechanism of squamous cervical cancer (SCC) progression. METHODS Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting were used to evaluate the expression of myosin light chain 9 (MYL9) in SCC tissues and cell lines. Furthermore, Transwell and Boyden assays were used to assess the function of MYL9 in SCC progression. In addition, the levels of lactate and aerobic glycolysis were used to explore the detailed mechanism of MYL9 in SCC. RESULTS The mRNA and protein levels of MYL9 were elevated in SCC tissues, and MYL9 knockdown inhibited the migration and invasion of SCC cell lines. A mechanistic study demonstrated that MYL9 promotes SCC migration and invasion by enhancing aerobic glycolysis and increasing the activity of the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway. CONCLUSIONS MYL9 was upregulated in SCC, and it enhanced JAK2/STAT3 pathway activity and promoted metastasis and glycolysis in SCC.
