Abstract
Cytogenetic studies were performed on 11 Japanese patients with adult T-cell lymphoma of peripheral T-cell origin. All patients had a histologic diagnosis of diffuse lymphoma, and were treated with intensive combination chemotherapy; their median survival was 6 months. Lymphomas were categorized on the basis of the classification proposed by the Lymphoma Study Group of Japan: 5 patients had the features of pleomorphic lymphoma; 3, mixed lymphoma; 2, large-cell lymphoma; and 1, medium-sized-cell lymphoma. The modal chromosome number of abnormal cells was near-diploid in 7, and hypotetraploid in 4 including 3 patients with pleomorphic lymphoma. Abnormalities of the clonal chromosomes were observed in all 11 patients. A translocation of the short arm of 19 at band 19p13 was found in 2 patients with pleomorphic lymphoma and in one patient each with mixed lymphoma and medium-sized-cell lymphoma. A translocation of the short arm of 14, with a break at band 14p12, occurred in 4 patients with pleomorphic lymphoma. In one patient each with mixed lymphoma and large-cell lymphoma, an extra chromosome 3 was found. The numerical change was unique because their lymphomas were further categorized as "angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy with dysproteinemia" and "large-cell immunoblastic lymphoma", respectively. Our findings suggest that characteristic chromosome abnormalities occur in adult T-cell lymphoma, and dividing cells in the tetraploid range tend to be predominant in pleomorphic lymphoma.

Abstract
We report a case in which pregnancy was sustained in a woman with congenital afibrinogenemia with delivery by cesarean section. From this case it appears that a plasma fibrinogen level greater than 60 mg/dl would maintain implantation of the placenta and fetus even in the event of complications occurring during pregnancy.

Abstract
Fetal heart rate (FHR) is influenced by the central nervous system, cardiac automatism, biochemical factors, etc. Changes in FHR were correlated with the anatomic defect in autopsy material from 20 anencephalic infants, and, on this basis, the following hypotheses were formed, subject to later experimental proof. (1) The FHR baseline level is controlled by the medulla oblongata and vagus nerve. (2) The biphasic sleep-awake pattern is controlled by the cerebral cortex. (3) The midbrain is involved in the occurrence of acceleration. (4) A relative high level of short-term variability is shown when small lesions of the lesser central nervous system are present, but we cannot conclude that the cortex is critical for short-term variability. On the other hand, long-term variability seems to be correlated to the presence of the medulla oblongata and midbrain, and might be amplified by the cerebral cortex. (5) U-shaped decelerations are connected with the medulla oblongata, but V-shaped decelerations depend on intracardiac reflexes and myocardial stretch.

Abstract
An adolescent girl showed the apparent Capgras syndrome in the course of wake-amine induced psychosis. The patient, then 18, committed homicide in close connection with the syndrome and also with the distorted judgment due to personality immaturity. As far as the syndrome was concerned, the extension was so extreme that it involved her neighbors and even her dwelling city. The detailed case history was reported along with a discussion about the psychodynamism.

Abstract
Functionalization reactions via cationic intermediates of tricyclo[4.3.1.1 2,5]undecane (2) were investigated to prepare derivatives with potential antiviral activities. Bromination of 2 took place regiospecifically at C-1, and the resulted bromide 5 was converted into the hydroxide 9, the carboxylic acid 12, and the amine 22, from which were synthesized a variety of secondary derivatives, including homologous esters 10 and 20, amides 14 and 19, carbamates 24, and ureas 17 and 25. The hydroxide 9, the acid 12, and the acetamide 21 were also obtainable directly from tricyclo[5.2.1.0 2,6]dec-endo-2-ylcarbinol (1), the precursor for the synthesis of the hydrocarbon 2. Success in these functionalization-rearrangements was attributed to the inability of the intermediate 2-1-yl cation (2+) for further skeletal isomerizations. Among the 1-substituted derivatives of 2 prepared, the amine hydrochlorides (16 and 23), a few esters (20b and 20d), and some N-alkylamides (19c, 19d, and 19e) exhibited marked antiviral activities as compared to amantadine hydrochloride, when tested in vitro on a monolayer culture of chick embryo fibroblasts against Newcastle disease virus.

Abstract
1. Serum leucine aminopeptidase activity measured by its action on hydrolysis of L-leucyl-beta-naphthylamide was increased progressively as pregnancy advanced. Angiotensinase activity determined by bioasaay showed parallel increase during normal pregnancy. 2. The effects of heat treatment and L-methionine on the activity of angiotensinase were compared with those on leucine aminopeptidase activity in pregnancy serum.

Abstract
Secondary (6) and tertiary (8) phosphates of exo-5,6-trimethylenenorborn-exo-2-yl alcohol (exo-tricyclo-[5.2.1.0(2,6)]dec-exo-8-yl alcohol, 3) and a secondary ester (9) of a mixture of exo-tricyclo[5.2.1.0(2,6)]dec-3-en-8- and -9-yl alcohol (2) were prepared. The most convenient route to 6 was direct esterification of phosphoric acid with 3. 9 was obtainable by the addition of phosphoric acid to endo-dicyclopentadiene (1). These phosphates were tested in vitro for antiviral activity against Newcastle disease virus using a monolayer culture of chick embryo fibroblasts. 6 was found ca. twice more potent than, while 8 was as active as, amantadine hydrochloride under the present test conditions.

Abstract
New derivatives of 4-homoisotwistane (tricyclo[5.3.1.0(3,8)]undecane) (3), the olefin (8), bromide (4), alcohols (7,9,11, and 14), ketone (10), acid (12), esters (13, 18a, and 18b), amides (5, 16, and 19a-d), nitrile (20), and amines and their hydrochlorides (6, 17, and 21), were prepared, and antiviral activities of these compounds were determined in vitro on a monolayer culture of chick embryo fibroblasts against Newcastle disease virus. 4-Homoisotwist-3-ylamine hydrochloride (6) and 4-homoisotwist-3-ylmethylamine hydrochloride (21) were found 30-50 times more potent than amantadine hydrochloride in this assay. Methods of preparing the test compounds included those functionalization reactions of 3 which revealed many interesting features of the reactivity of the recently discovered polycyclic hydrocarbon 3.

Abstract
Convenient methods for the synthesis of 1-substituted 3-adamantyl chlorides and bromides (2), 1-adamantylphenols and -cresols (3), and 1-adamantylacetic (6) as well as 1,3-adamantanediacetic (11) acids are described. Several novel derivatives were synthesized from these key intermediates: adamantylcyclohexanols (4) and -cyclohexanones (5) from adamantylphenols (3), and esters (7,12, and 22), amides (13 and 18), thioamides (9 and 16), amidine (10), nitrile (15), and amines (14 and 17) from 1-adamantanecarboxylic (19) and -acetic (6) acids and 1,3-adamantanediacetic acid (11). Some adamantylpyrimidines (24) and -purines (25 and 26) were also prepared. Antiviral activities of the compounds obtained in this work and a series of new 1-adamantyl alkyl ketones synthesized before, together with those of some known adamantane derivatives, were tested in vitro on monolayer culture of chick ambryo fibroblasts against Newcastle disease virus.
