Abstract
During embryogenesis of eudicots, the apical region of the embryo develops two cotyledon primordia and the shoot meristem. In Arabidopsis thaliana, this process is dependent on the functionally redundant activities of the CUP-SHAPED COTYLEDON (CUC) transcription factors, namely CUC1, CUC2, and CUC3, as well as the phytohormone auxin. However, the relationship between the CUC proteins and auxin has yet to be fully elucidated. In the present study, we examined whether the expression of auxin biosynthetic genes is dependent on CUC gene activities. Comprehensive quantitative RT-PCR analysis of the main auxin biosynthetic gene families of TRYPTOPHAN AMINOTRANSFERASE OF ARABIDOPSIS1/TRYPTOPHAN AMINOTRANSFERASE RELATED and YUCCA (YUC) showed that YUC1 and YUC4 expression levels were lower in cuc double mutant embryos than the expression levels of these genes in wild type embryos. Reporter analysis also revealed that the expression of YUC1 and YUC4 in the cotyledon boundary region was reduced in cuc double mutant embryos. In contrast, the loss of function mutation in the SHOOT MERISTEMLESS gene, a shoot stem cell regulator that acts downstream of the CUC genes, did not markedly affect YUC1 expression levels. These results demonstrate that CUC genes play an important role in the regulation of auxin biosynthetic gene expression during embryogenesis; furthermore, they raise the possibility that the auxin produced by this regulation contributes to cotyledon boundary development.

Abstract
The Hayabusa2 spacecraft investigated the C-type (carbonaceous) asteroid (162173) Ryugu. The mission performed two landing operations to collect samples of surface and subsurface material, the latter exposed by an artificial impact. We present images of the second touchdown site, finding that ejecta from the impact crater was present at the sample location. Surface pebbles at both landing sites show morphological variations ranging from rugged to smooth, similar to Ryugu's boulders, and shapes from quasi-spherical to flattened. The samples were returned to Earth on 6 December 2020. We describe the morphology of >5 grams of returned pebbles and sand. Their diverse color, shape, and structure are consistent with the observed materials of Ryugu; we conclude that they are a representative sample of the asteroid.

Background
Baseline and post-procedural elevations in serum troponin-T levels are associated with increased morbidity and mortality following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). However, the prognostic impact of change in serum troponin-T level following TAVR remains unknown.
Methods
Among the patients with severe aortic stenosis who underwent TAVR, those with baseline serum troponin-T level ≥51.5 ng/L were excluded. The impact of increases in serum troponin-T level to an abnormally high range (≥51.5 ng/L) following TAVR on 2-year cardiovascular death or heart failure readmissions was investigated.
Results
Among 189 included patients (median 86 years old, 28% men), serum troponin-T level increased in 79 patients following TAVR. An increase in serum troponin-T was associated with a higher rate of 30-day adverse events, predominantly due to pacemaker implantation for complete atrio-ventricular block, and a higher 2-year cumulative incidence of the primary endpoint (hazard ratio 3.97, 95% confidence interval 1.51-10.4, p = 0.005) adjusted for the use of balloon-expandable valve and post-TAVR pacemaker implantation (Figure 1).

Abstract
We aimed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacological effects of glimepiride in the Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) rat, which is a non-obese model of type 2 diabetes. After oral administration of glimepiride (10 mg/kg), the maximum plasma concentrations and the area under the curve from 0 to 6 h of glimepiride in SDT rats were significantly higher than those in age-matched Sprague-Dawley rats. Whereas, additional insulin secretion following glimepiride treatment was markedly reduced in SDT rats. Thus, the SDT rat can be regarded as a model that reflects type 2 diabetes with reduced insulin secretory capacity. Our findings suggested that glimepiride could be ineffective in sever type 2 diabetic patients.

Abstract
Nanoplastics are likely ubiquitous in the environment, and their potential toxic effects are a concern. However, quantitative information about the distribution of nanoplastics is still lacking, and toxicity tests are limited to a few select polymers because of the lack of appropriate standard materials, which should be nanoscale particles with standardizable morphologies, properties comparable to those of commercial polymers, and no impurities. Here, a precipitation-based method for preparing spherical nanoscale particles without the introduction of impurities is developed. The similarity of the molecular weight distributions, crystallinities, and thermal properties of five major polymers prepared using this method-low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, and polystyrene-to those of commercial polymers indicate their potential for use as standard nanoplastic particles. This study provides a fundamental approach for the synthesis of standard nanoplastic particles that will facilitate quantification of the concentrations of nanoplastics in the environment and tests of their toxicity, which are required to assess the risks associated with exposure to them.

Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify a relationship between the background environment, bystander and emergency medical services intervention, and favourable neurological outcomes (CPC1-2) one-month after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) occurred at Tokyo train and subway stations. Methods This retrospective observational study used OHCA data between 2014 and 2018 that occurred at train stations in Tokyo. The eligible 954 patients were analysed for correlation between background, time frame, and location. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate factors associated with CPC1-2 in patients with cardiogenic OHCA. Results A total of 886 OHCA cases, cardiogenic (n=562) and non-cardiogenic (n=324), met the inclusion criteria. Of the cardiogenic cases, 71.9% occurred at the platform and on-a-train. One-month CPC1-2 was achieved in 32.0% of cardiogenic OHCAs, which included 47.3% during morning rush hour, 24.7% during daytime hours, 40.2% during evening rush hour, and 20.5% during night-time/early morning hours. CPC1-2 had significant correlation with morning rush hour (adjusted odds ratio [AOR],4.52; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09–18.78), evening rush hour (AOR, 6.85; 95% CI, 1.51–31.15), public access defibrillation (AOR, 5.19; 95% CI, 1.38–19.51), and ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia (AOR, 7.56; 95% CI, 1.35–42.43). Conclusion A total of 71.9% of cardiogenic OHCAs occurred at platforms and on trains. To improve neurological outcomes of OHCAs at stations, AED installations on train platforms are necessary. Additionally, using artificial intelligence-based platform monitoring for early detection of OHCAs and offering CPR training are required.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the D^{0} and D^{+} lifetimes using D^{0}→K^{-}π^{+} and D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decays reconstructed in e^{+}e^{-}→cc[over ¯] data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The data, collected at center-of-mass energies at or near the ϒ(4S) resonance, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 fb^{-1}. The results, τ(D^{0})=410.5±1.1(stat)±0.8(syst) fs and τ(D^{+})=1030.4±4.7(stat)±3.1(syst) fs, are the most precise to date and are consistent with previous determinations.

Abstract
UNLABELLED In this randomized, controlled trial, treatment with once-weekly subcutaneous injection of teriparatide for 72 weeks was found to be associated with a significant reduction in the incidence of morphometric vertebral fractures compared with alendronate in women with primary osteoporosis who were at high risk of fracture. INTRODUCTION To determine whether the anti-fracture efficacy of teriparatide is superior to that of alendronate, a prospective, randomized, open-label, blinded-endpoint trial was performed. METHODS Japanese women aged at least 75 years were eligible for the study if they had primary osteoporosis and were at high risk of fracture. Patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive sequential therapy (once-weekly subcutaneous injection of teriparatide 56.5 μg for 72 weeks followed by alendronate for 48 weeks) or monotherapy with alendronate for 120 weeks. The primary endpoint was the incidence of morphometric vertebral fractures at 72 weeks (at the end of teriparatide treatment). RESULTS Between October 2014 and December 2017, 1011 patients (505 in the teriparatide group and 506 in the alendronate group) were enrolled. Of these, 778 patients (351 and 427, respectively) were included in the primary analysis. The incidence of morphometric vertebral fractures was significantly lower in the teriparatide group (56 per 419.9 person-years, annual incidence rate 0.1334) than in the alendronate group (96 per 553.6 person-years, annual incidence rate 0.1734), with a rate ratio of 0.78 (95% confidence interval 0.61 to 0.99, P = 0.04). In both groups, adverse events were most frequently reported in the following system organ classes: infections and infestations, gastrointestinal disorders, and musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders. CONCLUSION Once-weekly subcutaneous injection of teriparatide significantly reduced the incidence of morphometric vertebral fractures compared with alendronate in women with primary osteoporosis who were at high risk of fracture. Abstract
A search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] is performed at the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 63 fb^{-1} collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance and a sample of 9 fb^{-1} collected at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance. Because the measurable decay signature involves only a single charged kaon, a novel measurement approach is used that exploits not only the properties of the B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] decay, but also the inclusive properties of the other B meson in the ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] event, to suppress the background from other B meson decays and light-quark pair production. This inclusive tagging approach offers a higher signal efficiency compared to previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] of 4.1×10^{-5} is set at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
Coconut rhinoceros beetle (CRB), Oryctes rhinoceros, is a pest of palm trees in the Pacific. Recently, a remarkable degree of palm damage reported in Guam, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands has been associated with a particular haplotype (clade I), known as "CRB-G". In the Palau Archipelago, both CRB-G and another haplotype (clade IV) belonging to the CRB-S cluster coexist in the field. In this study, more than 75% of pheromone trap-captured adults of both haplotypes were Oryctes rhinoceros nudivirus (OrNV)-positive by PCR. No significant difference in OrNV prevalence between the haplotypes was detected. In PCR-positive CRB-G tissue specimens from Palau, viral particles were observed by electron microscopy. Hemocoel injection of CRB larvae with crude virus homogenates from these tissues resulted in viral infection and mortality. OrNV isolated from Palauan-sourced CRB was designated as OrNV-Palau1. Both OrNV-Palau1 and OrNV-X2B, a CRB biological control isolate released in the Pacific, were propagated using the FRI-AnCu-35 cell line for production of inoculum. However, the OrNV-Palau1 isolate exhibited lower viral production levels and longer larval survival times compared to OrNV-X2B in O. rhinoceros larvae. Full genome sequences of the OrNV-Palau1 and -X2B isolates were determined and found to be closely related to each other. Altogether these results suggest CRB adults in Palau are infected with a less virulent virus, which may affect the nature and extent of OrNV-induced pathology in Palauan populations of CRB.

Abstract
The generation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) from water and dioxygen by sunlight-driven heterogeneous photocatalysis is a promising method for the artificial photosynthesis of a liquid solar fuel. We previously found that resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) resin powders prepared by high-temperature hydrothermal synthesis act as highly active semiconductor photocatalysts for H2O2 generation. Herein, we report that RF resin powders doped with poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (RF/P3HT) exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activities. The highly dispersed P3HT within the resin particles created charge transfer complexes with the conduction band of the resin via electron donation, facilitating efficient transfer of the photogenerated conduction band electrons through P3HT. This enhanced charge separation promoted efficient water oxidation and O2 reduction. The solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency for H2O2 generation on the RF/P3HT resin in water under simulated sunlight irradiation with atmospheric pressure of O2 was ∼1.0%, which is the highest efficiency reported for powder catalysts in artificial photosynthesis.

Abstract
Mineral carbonation, which is CO2 fixation through a carbonation reaction using alkaline earth metals, is being investigated as a carbon capture and utilization method to reduce CO2 atmospheric emissions. Concrete sludge is an alkali waste material from the concrete industry and contains abundant calcium components. We investigated the applicability of concrete sludge for mineral carbonation. In this study, gas containing CO2 was bubbled through the model concrete sludge solution and the effects of the solid-liquid ratio, bubbling time, gas flow rate, and the partial pressure of CO2 on the CO2 fixation ratio and fixation rate were investigated. The CO2 fixation ratio decreased with increasing CO2 bubbling time, CO2 flow rate, and CO2 partial pressure. The CO2 fixation rate increased with increasing CO2 flow rate and CO2 partial pressure. The formation of calcite, a form of calcium carbonate, was confirmed.

Abstract
Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors and endothelin receptor antagonists (ERAs) are standard therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The inter-individual variability of these pharmacokinetics is reported remarkably large, and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) can be useful to improve the likelihood of the desired therapeutic and safety outcomes. This study aimed to develop a LC-MS method to determine the concentrations of five PAH drugs (PDE-5 inhibitors: sildenafil and tadalafil, ERAs: bosentan, macitentan, and ambrisentan) from plasma samples using a simple process followed by a single mass spectrometric run, and to validate this approach through pharmacokinetic analyses in patients. A solid extraction method was used for sample preparation of the drugs from human plasma. The total run time for a single injection was within 10 min. The calibration curves for all drugs were linear, and the lower limits of quantitation were 1 (sildenafil), 2 (tadalafil), 5 (ambrisentan), and 10 ng/mL (bosentan, macitentan). The accuracy and precision values suggested that the assay had high accuracy and reliability. To prove the utility of this method, the plasma concentrations of the five PAH drugs were determined after their oral administration to nine PAH patients.

Abstract
CONTEXT Physical activity is important for the management of metabolic functions; however, little is known whether performing home-based moderate-intensity exercise (MIE) obtains further improvement on metabolic functions in adults with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) who already perform regular gym-based MIE. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of adding home-based MIE on metabolic functions in older adults with NCDs who have regularly performed gym-based MIE. DESIGN This was a single-center randomized controlled study. The observation period was set for 24 weeks. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Twenty-one older adults (age, 60-79 years) with uncomplicated NCDs, who have performed 30-40 min MIE, 2-3 days/week at a hospital gym for over 1 year, were randomly divided into two groups: performing home-based MIE, comprising aerobic and resistance exercises, at least 20 min/day, 3 days/week (HOME, n = 11), or not performing home-based MIE (CON, n = 10). All participants completed the study and continued their gym-based MIE as usual. RESULTS After 24 weeks, there were no significant differences in the values of any outcomes. Conversely, the decrease in waist circumference (WC) was larger in the HOME group (-2.17 [-3.98, -0.36] cm) than in the CON group (0.57 [-1.42, 2.56] cm) (p < 0.05), although not in other outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Although further studies are needed, we found that adding home-based MIE had a positive effect on WC, but little effect on other metabolic functions in older adults with NCDs who have continued regular gym-based MIE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Laparoscopic liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Child-Pugh A cirrhosis has been demonstrated as beneficial. However, the role of laparoscopy in Child-Pugh B cirrhosis is undetermined. The aim of this retrospective cohort study was to compare open and laparoscopic resection for HCC with Child-Pugh B cirrhosis. METHODS Data on liver resections were gathered from 17 centres. A 1 : 1 propensity score matching was performed according to 17 predefined variables. RESULTS Of 382 available liver resections, 100 laparoscopic and 100 open resections were matched and analysed. The 90-day postoperative mortality rate was similar in open and laparoscopic groups (4.0 versus 2.0 per cent respectively; P = 0.687). Laparoscopy was associated with lower blood loss (median 110 ml versus 400 ml in the open group; P = 0.004), less morbidity (38.0 versus 51.0 per cent respectively; P = 0.041) and fewer major complications (7.0 versus 21.0 per cent; P = 0.010), and ascites was lower on postoperative days 1, 3 and 5. For laparoscopic resections, patients with portal hypertension developed more complications than those without (26 versus 12 per cent respectively; P = 0.002), and patients with a Child-Pugh B9 score had higher morbidity rates than those with B8 and B7 (7 of 8, 10 of 16 and 21 of 76 respectively; P < 0.001). Median hospital stay was 7.5 (range 2-243) days for laparoscopic liver resection and 18 (3-104) days for the open approach (P = 0.058). The 5-year overall survival rate was 47 per cent for open and 65 per cent for laparoscopic resection (P = 0.142). The 5-year disease-free survival rate was 32 and 37 per cent respectively (P = 0.742). CONCLUSION Patients without preoperative portal hypertension and Child-Pugh B7 cirrhosis may benefit most from laparoscopic liver surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of an elongated styloid process (SP) and average length and diameter of SP have not been reported using Japanese cadavers. Data on the female-to-male ratio of an elongated SP vary. We calculated the average length and diameter of SP in Japanese cadavers and compared SP lengths between sexes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-seven sides (right and left of bodies) in males and 51 sides in females were analyzed. Measurements were obtained from the inferior external acoustic meatus to the distal tip of the SP. SP diameters at the proximal base, midpoint, and distal tip were measured. SP >30 mm was considered elongated. We used Welch's t-test for the statistical analysis. Fisher's exact two-tailed test was also performed to analyze the female-to-male elongation ratio. A p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS SP elongation prevalence was 29.5% in our sample. The average full length was 27.04±7.88 mm overall; the average diameters were 5.41±1.77 mm at the proximal base and 2.21±1.22 mm at the distal tip. The average SP measurement was 26.81±5.92 mm in males and 27.16±8.79 mm in females (p=0.74). The female-to-male ratio of SP elongation was 1:2 (p=0.041). Females had longer full lengths of non-elongated SPs than males (p=0.004). Males had wider diameters at the proximal base of elongated SPs than females (p=0.017). CONCLUSIONS The average length of SP was 27.04 mm in the Japanese population and about 30% of the Japanese presented SP≥30 mm. Male had significantly higher rate than female among the SP≥30 mm, and female had significantly longer SPs than male among the SP<30 mm. Anatomically, the SP gets narrow as distally goes. Our anatomical findings would be beneficial to creating treatment plans, diagnosis, and surgery.

Abstract
The photocatalytic generation of hydrogen peroxide from water and dioxygen (H2O + 1/2O2 → H2O2, ΔG° = +117 kJ mol-1) under sunlight is a promising strategy for the artificial photosynthesis of a liquid fuel. We had previously found that resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) resin powders prepared by the base-catalysed high-temperature hydrothermal method act as semiconductor photocatalysts for H2O2 generation. Herein, we report that RF resins prepared by the acid-catalysed high-temperature hydrothermal method (~523 K) using common acids at pH < 4 exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activity. The base- and acid-catalysed methods both produce methylene- and methine-bridged resins consisting of π-conjugated and π-stacked benzenoid-quinoid donor-acceptor resorcinol units. The acidic conditions result in the resins with a lower bandgap (1.7 eV) and higher conductivity because the lower-degree of crosslinking creates a strongly π-stacked architecture. The irradiation of the RF-acid resins with simulated sunlight in water with atmospheric-pressure O2 generates H2O2 at a solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency of 0.7%, which is the highest efficiency ever reported for powder catalysts used in artificial photosynthesis.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Door-to-balloon time in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction is reported to be an independent predictor of the prognostic implication. However, the effect of door-to-deployment time (DTDT) of venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) on patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is unclear.
Purpose
This single-center, retrospective, observational study aimed to evaluate the effect of DTDT of VA-ECMO for mortality or neurological outcome of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) in patients with cardiogenic OHCA.
Method
This single-center, retrospective, observational study was conducted from January 2008 to April 2019. The primary endpoint was 1-month overall survival measured after ECMO initiation. Moreover, the secondary endpoint was 1-month survival with favorable neurological functions defined as having a cerebral performance category score of 1 or 2.
Result
A total of 3082 patients with OHCA were brought to our institution and 84 received ECPR. Of these, 51 consecutive adult patients with cardiogenic OHCA without sustained return of spontaneous circulation during transport were included in this analysis. Approximately 18 patients (18/51, 35.3%) survived after 1 month and were discharged. Among the survivors, 15 (15/18, 83.3%) were discharged with a favorable neurological outcome. The baseline characteristics between the survivors and non-survivors were not significantly different, except for the initial shockable rhythm [18/18 (100%) versus 28/33 (84.9%), P=0.03]. There were no significant differences between the median time from collapse to hospital arrival [31.0 min (IQR 25.0–31.0) versus 29.0 min (IQR 25.0–39.5), P=0.53] and from call to hospital arrival [28.0 min (IQR 22.0–32.5) versus 27.0 min (IQR 23.3–34.5), P=0.56]. The median DTDT of VA-ECMO was significantly shorter in survivors [13.0 min (IQR 11.5–18.3) versus 21.0 minutes (IQR 15.5–32.0), P=0.01]. The Kaplan–Meier survival analysis showed that the group with a DTDT ≤20 min had a significantly higher 1-month overall survival rate (P<0.01) and survival rate with a favorable neurological outcome (P=0.01) than that with a DTDT >20 minutes. Using the Cox proportional hazards analysis, DTDT ≤20 minutes and bystander-witnessed significantly affected the overall survival rate at 1 month [adjusted hazard ratio (HR), 0.44; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.20–0.95; P=0.03 and adjusted HR, 0.31; 95% CI, 0.13–0.74; P<0.01, respectively]. Regarding survival rate with a favorable neurological outcome, the result was relatively similar [adjusted HR, 0.46; 95% CI, 0.22–0.96; P=0.04 and adjusted HR, 0.37; 95% CI, 0.16–0.85; P=0.02, respectively].
Conclusion
This study revealed that the DTDT of VA-ECMO is significantly associated with the 1-month mortality and neurological prognosis of patients with cardiogenic OHCA. However, further studies will be required to confirm these findings.

Abstract
We present a search for the direct production of a light pseudoscalar a decaying into two photons with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We search for the process e^{+}e^{-}→γa, a→γγ in the mass range 0.2<m_{a}<9.7 GeV/c^{2} using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (445±3) pb^{-1}. Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axionlike particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength g_{aγγ} of ALPs to photons at the level of 10^{-3} GeV^{-1}. The limits are the most restrictive to date for 0.2<m_{a}<1 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
Lactobacillus plantarum Shinshu N-07 (N07) and Lactobacillus curvatus #4G2 (#4G2) were isolated from fermented Brassica rapa L. and selected as promising probiotics with anti-adiposity activities based on in vitro assays. The anti-adiposity effects of these two strains were investigated using a diet-induced obesity animal model. Epididymal adipose tissue weight and adipocyte area were significantly lower and serum triglycerides and glucose tended to be lower in mice fed the high-fat diet supplemented with N07 compared with those fed the unsupplemented high-fat diet. Strain N07 suppressed hepatic steatosis, with accompanying downregulation of lipogenic genes in the liver. Expression of inflammatory cytokines and macrophage infiltration markers tended to be suppressed by N07 supplementation. Upregulation of uncoupling protein-1 in epididymal adipose tissue by N07 suggested that the transformation of white adipose tissue to brown might have been induced. Intestinal microbiota analysis revealed that a decrease in abundance of family S24-7 (phylum Bacteroidetes) following ingestion of the high-fat diet was partly recovered by supplementation with N07. Changes in those parameters were not observed in mice fed the high-fat diet supplemented with strain #4G2, suggesting strain specificities. Thus, N07 is a potential probiotic strain that could be used to develop functional foods that attenuate visceral fat accumulation after an appropriate human intervention trial.

Abstract
This work demonstrates significant line narrowing of a surface multipole plasmon (MP) by modifying the surface electronic wave function with two-dimensional materials (2DMs): graphene and hexagonal boron nitride. This is found in an optical reflectivity of alkali atoms (Cs or K) on an Ir(111) surface covered with the 2DMs. The reduction in reflectivity induced by deposition of the alkali atoms becomes as large as 20% at ∼2 eV, which is ascribed to a MP of a composite of alkali/2DM/alkali/Ir multilayer structure. The linewidth of the MP band becomes as narrow as 0.2 eV by the presence of the 2DM between the two alkali layers. A numerical simulation by time-dependent density functional theory with a jellium model reveals that the density of states of the surface localized state is sharpened remarkably by the 2DMs that decouple the outermost alkali layer from the Ir bulk. Consequently, a local field enhancement of an order of 10^{5} is achieved by ultimate confinement of the MP within the outermost alkali layer. Abstract
AIMS To examine the effects of a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, tofogliflozin, on resting heart rate by exploring baseline factors that independently influenced changes in the resting heart rate. METHODS Data on 419 participants in tofogliflozin phase 2/3 trials were analysed. Changes in resting heart rate from baseline to week 24 were analysed using an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) model with groups (tofogliflozin/placebo) as a fixed effect and baseline values as covariates. The antilipolytic effect was evaluated as adipose tissue insulin resistance (Adipo-IR) and was calculated as the product of fasting insulin and free fatty acid. Multivariate analysis evaluated independent factors for changes in resting heart rate from baseline to week 24. RESULTS Of the participants, 58% were men, and mean age, HbA1c , BMI and resting heart rate were 57.6 years, 65 mmol/mol (8.1%), 25.5 kg/m2 and 66 bpm, respectively. At week 24, adjusted mean difference vs. placebo in the change from baseline was -2.3 bpm [95% confidence interval (CI) -4.6, -0.1] with tofogliflozin. Changes in resting heart rate were positively correlated with changes in Adipo-IR, whereas reductions in HbA1c , body weight and blood pressure were similar independent of changes in resting heart among quartiles of resting heart rate change. On multivariate analysis, higher baseline resting heart rates and Adipo-IR values were significantly associated with greater reductions in resting heart rate. CONCLUSIONS Tofogliflozin corrected resting heart rate levels in accordance with baseline levels. Correction of high resting heart rates may be attributed to improved adipose tissue insulin resistance, leading to correction of hyperinsulinaemia.

Abstract
Objectives We aimed to estimate the relationship between the promotion of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with dispatcher-assistance over time and good cerebral function after out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs). Methods This was a retrospective observational study, using a nationwide OHCA database in Japan. The eligible 267,193 witnessed cardiogenic OHCA patients between 2005 and 2016 were analysed. Multivariable logistic regression models were performed to estimate the effect of dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR per year. In addition, we calculated the number of patients with good cerebral function, which was attributed to dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR. Results Dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR was performed to 84,076 (31.5%), those without dispatcher-assistance were 48,389 (18.1%), and non-bystander CPR were 134,728 (50.4%). The adjusted odds ratio (AOR) of dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR vs. non-bystander CPR was significantly related to good cerebral function, regardless of the year (AOR, 1.47, 1.62; 95%CI, 1.19-1.80, 1.42-1.85, 2005 and 2016, respectively). The association of dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR with good cerebral function tended to increase (AOR, 1.11, 2.97; 95%CI, 0.99-1.24, 2.69-3.28, 2006 and 2016, based on 2005, respectively). Estimating the number of patients with good cerebral function who attributed to dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR was a significant increase from 41 in 2005 to 580 in 2016 (p < .0001, r = 0.98). Furthermore, chest compression consistently contributed to higher number of patients with good cerebral function than that with a combination of chest compression and shock with public-access-defibrillation. Conclusion We found that the increased dispatcher-assisted bystander CPR rate was related to good cerebral function at 1-month post OHCA. Chest compression without public-access-defibrillation was most helpful to that number, explaining the effects of dispatcher-assistance and sustaining improvement.

Abstract
We measured missing mass spectrum of the ^{12}C(γ,p) reaction for the first time in coincidence with potential decay products from η^{'} bound nuclei. We tagged an (η+p) pair associated with the η^{'}N→ηN process in a nucleus. After applying kinematical selections to reduce backgrounds, no signal events were observed in the bound-state region. An upper limit of the signal cross section in the opening angle cosθ_{lab}^{ηp}<-0.9 was obtained to be 2.2 nb/sr at the 90% confidence level. It is compared with theoretical cross sections, whose normalization ambiguity is suppressed by measuring a quasifree η^{'} production rate. Our results indicate a small branching fraction of the η^{'}N→ηN process and/or a shallow η^{'}-nucleus potential.

Abstract
Electron antineutrino appearance is measured by the T2K experiment in an accelerator-produced antineutrino beam, using additional neutrino beam operation to constrain parameters of the Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (PMNS) mixing matrix. T2K observes 15 candidate electron antineutrino events with a background expectation of 9.3 events. Including information from the kinematic distribution of observed events, the hypothesis of no electron antineutrino appearance is disfavored with a significance of 2.40σ and no discrepancy between data and PMNS predictions is found. A complementary analysis that introduces an additional free parameter which allows non-PMNS values of electron neutrino and antineutrino appearance also finds no discrepancy between data and PMNS predictions.

Abstract
Theories beyond the standard model often predict the existence of an additional neutral boson, the Z^{'}. Using data collected by the Belle II experiment during 2018 at the SuperKEKB collider, we perform the first searches for the invisible decay of a Z^{'} in the process e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}Z^{'} and of a lepton-flavor-violating Z^{'} in e^{+}e^{-}→e^{±}μ^{∓}Z^{'}. We do not find any excess of events and set 90% credibility level upper limits on the cross sections of these processes. We translate the former, in the framework of an L_{μ}-L_{τ} theory, into upper limits on the Z^{'} coupling constant at the level of 5×10^{-2}-1 for M_{Z^{'}}≤6 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
Ammonia is an indispensable chemical. Photocatalytic NH3 production via dinitrogen fixation using water by sunlight illumination under ambient conditions is a promising strategy, although previously reported catalysts show insufficient activity. Herein, we showed that ultraviolet light irradiation of a semiconductor, bismuth oxychloride with surface oxygen vacancies (BiOCl-OVs), in water containing chloride anions (Cl-) under N2 flow efficiently produces NH3. The surface OVs behave as the N2 reduction sites by the photoformed conduction band electrons. The valence band holes are consumed by self-oxidation of interlayer Cl- on the catalyst. The hypochloric acid (HClO) formed absorbs ultraviolet light and undergoes photodecomposition into O2 and Cl-. These consecutive photoreactions produce NH3 with water as the electron donor. The Cl- in solution compensates for the removed interlayer Cl- and inhibits catalyst deactivation. Simulated sunlight illumination of the catalyst in seawater stably generates NH3 with 0.05% solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency, thus exhibiting significant potential of the seawater system for artificial photosynthesis.
