Metastable States of ^{92,94}Se: Identification of an Oblate K Isomer of ^{94}Se and the Ground-State Shape Transition between N=58 and 60. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2020; 124:222501. Abstract
Here we present new information on the shape evolution of the very neutron-rich ^{92,94}Se nuclei from an isomer-decay spectroscopy experiment at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN. High-resolution germanium detectors were used to identify delayed γ rays emitted following the decay of their isomers. New transitions are reported extending the previously known level schemes. The isomeric levels are interpreted as originating from high-K quasineutron states with an oblate deformation of β∼0.25, with the high-K state in ^{94}Se being metastable and K hindered. Following this, ^{94}Se is the lowest-mass neutron-rich nucleus known to date with such a substantial K hindrance. Furthermore, it is the first observation of an oblate K isomer in a deformed nucleus. This opens up the possibility for a new region of K isomers at low Z and at oblate deformation, involving the same neutron orbitals as the prolate orbitals within the classic Z∼72 deformed hafnium region. From an interpretation of the level scheme guided by theoretical calculations, an oblate deformation is also suggested for the ^{94}Se_{60} ground-state band.

Abstract
Both vitamin K and probiotics can promote the bone health of poultry and mammals. The present study was conducted to investigate the interactive effects between vitamin K3 (VK3) and Bacillus subtilis PB6 on the growth performance and tibia quality of broiler chickens with sex separate rearing. In a 3 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, 720 one-day-old broiler chicks (Arbor Acres) were assigned to 12 groups with three levels of dietary VK3 (0, 0.5 and 4.0 mg/kg), with or without probiotic supplementation (500 g/t) and with sex separation (male and female). Each group included 3 replicates with 20 birds per replicate. During day 1 to 21, 0.5 and 4.0 mg/kg of VK3 increased average daily gain (ADG) of all birds and average daily feed intake of male birds (P < 0.05). During day 22 to 42, probiotic supplementation increased the ADG of birds (P < 0.05). Probiotic addition increased the weight, length, diameter and strength of tibia in all birds, and 0.5 and 4.0 mg/kg of VK3 increased the tibial breaking strength of male birds at day 21 (P < 0.05). Vitamin K3 and probiotic synergistically increased tibial breaking strength at day 42 and ash content at day 21 (P < 0.05). Three factors exhibited interactive effects on the chemical composition of tibia at day 42, and female birds fed 4 mg/kg of VK3 and probiotic had the highest contents of ash, calcium and phosphorus (P < 0.05). Bacillus subtilis PB6 increased the serum phosphorus level of male birds at day 21 and serum calcium level of female ones at day 42 (P < 0.05). At day 21, in the probiotic-supplemented birds, serum osteocalcin (OCN) and bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BALP) were increased by 0 and 4.0 mg/kg of VK3, respectively (P < 0.05). Probiotic increased serum OCN and cooperated with VK3 to increase the serum BALP at day 42 (P < 0.05). Vitamin K3 and probiotic synergistically down-regulated the mRNA expression of Runt-related transcription factor 2 and OCN at day 21 (P < 0.05). Vitamin K3 down-regulated the alkaline phosphatase (liver/bone/kidney) expression in male birds at day 21 and 42, but probiotic up-regulated the expression of these genes at day 42 (P < 0.05). In conclusion, VK3 and B. subtilis PB6 promoted the growth performance of broilers during starter and grower phases, respectively. They synergistically improved the physical and chemical traits of tibias, especially in grower phase, by modulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism as well as osteogenic gene expression.

Prospects for observing and localizing gravitational-wave transients with Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo and KAGRA. LIVING REVIEWS IN RELATIVITY 2020; 23:3. Abstract
We present our current best estimate of the plausible observing scenarios for the Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo and KAGRA gravitational-wave detectors over the next several years, with the intention of providing information to facilitate planning for multi-messenger astronomy with gravitational waves. We estimate the sensitivity of the network to transient gravitational-wave signals for the third (O3), fourth (O4) and fifth observing (O5) runs, including the planned upgrades of the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors. We study the capability of the network to determine the sky location of the source for gravitational-wave signals from the inspiral of binary systems of compact objects, that is binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole, and binary black hole systems. The ability to localize the sources is given as a sky-area probability, luminosity distance, and comoving volume. The median sky localization area (90% credible region) is expected to be a few hundreds of square degrees for all types of binary systems during O3 with the Advanced LIGO and Virgo (HLV) network. The median sky localization area will improve to a few tens of square degrees during O4 with the Advanced LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA (HLVK) network. During O3, the median localization volume (90% credible region) is expected to be on the order of 10 5 , 10 6 , 10 7 Mpc 3 for binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole, and binary black hole systems, respectively. The localization volume in O4 is expected to be about a factor two smaller than in O3. We predict a detection count of 1 - 1 + 12 ( 10 - 10 + 52 ) for binary neutron star mergers, of 0 - 0 + 19 ( 1 - 1 + 91 ) for neutron star-black hole mergers, and 17 - 11 + 22 ( 79 - 44 + 89 ) for binary black hole mergers in a one-calendar-year observing run of the HLV network during O3 (HLVK network during O4). We evaluate sensitivity and localization expectations for unmodeled signal searches, including the search for intermediate mass black hole binary mergers.

Search for Subsolar Mass Ultracompact Binaries in Advanced LIGO's Second Observing Run. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 123:161102. Abstract
We present a search for subsolar mass ultracompact objects in data obtained during Advanced LIGO's second observing run. In contrast to a previous search of Advanced LIGO data from the first observing run, this search includes the effects of component spin on the gravitational waveform. We identify no viable gravitational-wave candidates consistent with subsolar mass ultracompact binaries with at least one component between 0.2 M_{⊙}-1.0 M_{⊙}. We use the null result to constrain the binary merger rate of (0.2 M_{⊙}, 0.2 M_{⊙}) binaries to be less than 3.7×10^{5} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} and the binary merger rate of (1.0 M_{⊙}, 1.0 M_{⊙}) binaries to be less than 5.2×10^{3} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1}. Subsolar mass ultracompact objects are not expected to form via known stellar evolution channels, though it has been suggested that primordial density fluctuations or particle dark matter with cooling mechanisms and/or nuclear interactions could form black holes with subsolar masses. Assuming a particular primordial black hole (PBH) formation model, we constrain a population of merging 0.2 M_{⊙} black holes to account for less than 16% of the dark matter density and a population of merging 1.0 M_{⊙} black holes to account for less than 2% of the dark matter density. We discuss how constraints on the merger rate and dark matter fraction may be extended to arbitrary black hole population models that predict subsolar mass binaries.

Abstract
The recent discovery by Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo of a gravitational wave signal from a binary neutron star inspiral has enabled tests of general relativity (GR) with this new type of source. This source, for the first time, permits tests of strong-field dynamics of compact binaries in the presence of matter. In this Letter, we place constraints on the dipole radiation and possible deviations from GR in the post-Newtonian coefficients that govern the inspiral regime. Bounds on modified dispersion of gravitational waves are obtained; in combination with information from the observed electromagnetic counterpart we can also constrain effects due to large extra dimensions. Finally, the polarization content of the gravitational wave signal is studied. The results of all tests performed here show good agreement with GR.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute the largest membrane proteins superfamily. However, the interactions between them and the coupled heterotrimeric G proteins were little known. To get a deeper view of how the receptor bound to the G protein, we carried out the molecular dynamics' simulations of human Beta2 adrenoceptors (β1 and β2) and G protein (s and I) alpha subunit complexes by homology modeling. MATERIALS AND METHODS For homology modeling, the program modeller 9.11 was used with automodel module. Before dynamics simulation, the homology models were prepared by Protein Preparation Wizard module in Maestro 9.3. The Desmond program was used to perform molecular minimization and molecular dynamics simulation under OPLS-All atom 2005 force field with default parameters. RESULTS The results offered us the mechanism vividly in molecular level: (1) GPCR-G protein complex can be simulated without specific nanobody; (2) the G protein activation ability of GPCR can be explained by molecular dynamics simulation. CONCLUSIONS It is suggested that we could do molecular dynamics simulation of complex of GPCR-G protein without bound nanobody. Secondly, the simulation time reduced greatly by using homology modeling to generate complex of proteins. Thirdly, the molecular dynamics simulation will help us to know or even predict further protein-protein interactions.

Abstract
Objective: By analyzing the examination results of physical examination of workers exposed to DMF among 32 factories in some areas of a province, to investigate the working years of dimethylformamide (DMF) poisoning and the impact on the health status of exposed workers, and to explore the targeted intervention strategies. Methods: From February to May 2018, 2, 457 workers exposed to DMF in some areas of Jiangsu Province were selected as survey targets. Cross-sectional survey was conducted to investigate the health status of workers exposed to health, And the health surveillance data, detection data of occupational disease risk factors in the workplace were collected and analyzed, respectively. Results: The positive rate of abnormal liver function and B-ultrasound of males exposed to DMF was significantly higher than that of females. The abnormal rates of liver function, blood pressure and B-ultrasound in workers aged between 60 and 69 were higher in contrast to those in any other age groups. And the differences was statistically significant. In particular, the highest rate of abnormal blood pressure was found in workers exposed 21-30 years (39.2%) , the highest rate of abnormal liver function was found in workers exposed 11-20 years (44.3%) , and the highest rate of abnormal B-ultrasound was found in workers exposed 0-10 years (60.4%) . Conclusion: Long-term exposure to dimethylformamide can affect workers' liver function and blood pressure. Specifically, with the increase of contact age, the degree of chronic damage to liver, cardiovascular and other organs also increases.

Abstract
Fifty-five inclusive single nucleon-removal cross sections from medium mass neutron-rich nuclei impinging on a hydrogen target at ∼250 MeV/nucleon are measured at the RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory. Systematically higher cross sections are found for proton removal from nuclei with an even number of protons as compared to odd-proton number projectiles for a given neutron separation energy. Neutron removal cross sections display no even-odd splitting, contrary to nuclear cascade model predictions. Both effects are understood through simple considerations of neutron separation energies and bound state level densities originating in pairing correlations in the daughter nuclei. These conclusions are supported by comparison with semimicroscopic model predictions, highlighting the enhanced role of low-lying level densities in nucleon-removal cross sections from loosely bound nuclei.

Constraining the p-Mode-g-Mode Tidal Instability with GW170817. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 122:061104. Abstract
We analyze the impact of a proposed tidal instability coupling p modes and g modes within neutron stars on GW170817. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral. We model the impact of this instability on the phasing of the gravitational wave signal using three parameters per star: an overall amplitude, a saturation frequency, and a spectral index. Incorporating these additional parameters, we compute the Bayes factor (lnB_{!pg}^{pg}) comparing our p-g model to a standard one. We find that the observed signal is consistent with waveform models that neglect p-g effects, with lnB_{!pg}^{pg}=0.03_{-0.58}^{+0.70} (maximum a posteriori and 90% credible region). By injecting simulated signals that do not include p-g effects and recovering them with the p-g model, we show that there is a ≃50% probability of obtaining similar lnB_{!pg}^{pg} even when p-g effects are absent. We find that the p-g amplitude for 1.4 M_{⊙} neutron stars is constrained to less than a few tenths of the theoretical maximum, with maxima a posteriori near one-tenth this maximum and p-g saturation frequency ∼70 Hz. This suggests that there are less than a few hundred excited modes, assuming they all saturate by wave breaking. For comparison, theoretical upper bounds suggest ≲10^{3} modes saturate by wave breaking. Thus, the measured constraints only rule out extreme values of the p-g parameters. They also imply that the instability dissipates ≲10^{51} erg over the entire inspiral, i.e., less than a few percent of the energy radiated as gravitational waves.

Search for Subsolar-Mass Ultracompact Binaries in Advanced LIGO's First Observing Run. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2018; 121:231103. Abstract
We present the first Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo search for ultracompact binary systems with component masses between 0.2 M_{⊙}-1.0 M_{⊙} using data taken between September 12, 2015 and January 19, 2016. We find no viable gravitational wave candidates. Our null result constrains the coalescence rate of monochromatic (delta function) distributions of nonspinning (0.2 M_{⊙}, 0.2 M_{⊙}) ultracompact binaries to be less than 1.0×10^{6} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} and the coalescence rate of a similar distribution of (1.0 M_{⊙}, 1.0 M_{⊙}) ultracompact binaries to be less than 1.9×10^{4} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} (at 90% confidence). Neither black holes nor neutron stars are expected to form below ∼1 M_{⊙} through conventional stellar evolution, though it has been proposed that similarly low mass black holes could be formed primordially through density fluctuations in the early Universe and contribute to the dark matter density. The interpretation of our constraints in the primordial black hole dark matter paradigm is highly model dependent; however, under a particular primordial black hole binary formation scenario we constrain monochromatic primordial black hole populations of 0.2 M_{⊙} to be less than 33% of the total dark matter density and monochromatic populations of 1.0 M_{⊙} to be less than 5% of the dark matter density. The latter strengthens the presently placed bounds from microlensing surveys of massive compact halo objects (MACHOs) provided by the MACHO and EROS Collaborations.

LIN CHUANG ER BI YAN HOU TOU JING WAI KE ZA ZHI = JOURNAL OF CLINICAL OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY, HEAD, AND NECK SURGERY 2018; 30:1195-1200. Abstract
Objective:The aim of this study is to explore the misdiagnosis status of the otolaryngology in China as well as to provide evidence to reduce misdiagnosis and improve the diagnostic level.Method:The retrieval and management system of the misdiagnosed diseases database developed by Chen Xiaohong was used for searching the literature of the misdiagnosis in otolaryngology. The 10 year' smisdiagnosis literature data of the otolaryngology(from 2004 to 2013) were analyzed including the literature sources, sample size, misdiagnosis rate, misdiagnosis consequences and misdiagnosis reasons.Result:A total of 369 articles were found, including 4211 cases. The average misdiagnosis rate was 25.43% in 51 diagnosed diseases. The top misdiagnosed diseases were nasopharyngeal tuberculosis(84.76%),tuberculous otitis media (75%) and congenital laryngeal cyst(75%).The lowest misdiagnosed disease was nasosinusitis(5.92%).The top three misdiagnosed diseases were tuberculosis of otolaryngology(1216 cases),nasosinusitis(710 cases) and BPPV(697 cases). After statistical analysis,we found that 97.22% of the misdiagnosed patients were grade Ⅲ consequences (that is the misdiagnosis and mistreatment does not cause adverse consequences),but there were still 10 cases caused gradeⅠconsequences(death or sequela). The main causes of the misdiagnosis were lack of diagnosis experience, non detailed interrogation and physical examination and non targeted examinations. Conclusion:The big data of the 10 years reflects the misdiagnosis phenomenon in otolaryngology to some extent.Neurologist, stomatologist and ophthalmologist should be familiar to the main points of the differential diagnosis diseases of the otolaryngology and strive to reduce the clinical misdiagnosis and mistreatment.

Abstract
On 17 August 2017, the LIGO and Virgo observatories made the first direct detection of gravitational waves from the coalescence of a neutron star binary system. The detection of this gravitational-wave signal, GW170817, offers a novel opportunity to directly probe the properties of matter at the extreme conditions found in the interior of these stars. The initial, minimal-assumption analysis of the LIGO and Virgo data placed constraints on the tidal effects of the coalescing bodies, which were then translated to constraints on neutron star radii. Here, we expand upon previous analyses by working under the hypothesis that both bodies were neutron stars that are described by the same equation of state and have spins within the range observed in Galactic binary neutron stars. Our analysis employs two methods: the use of equation-of-state-insensitive relations between various macroscopic properties of the neutron stars and the use of an efficient parametrization of the defining function p(ρ) of the equation of state itself. From the LIGO and Virgo data alone and the first method, we measure the two neutron star radii as R_{1}=10.8_{-1.7}^{+2.0} km for the heavier star and R_{2}=10.7_{-1.5}^{+2.1} km for the lighter star at the 90% credible level. If we additionally require that the equation of state supports neutron stars with masses larger than 1.97 M_{⊙} as required from electromagnetic observations and employ the equation-of-state parametrization, we further constrain R_{1}=11.9_{-1.4}^{+1.4} km and R_{2}=11.9_{-1.4}^{+1.4} km at the 90% credible level. Finally, we obtain constraints on p(ρ) at supranuclear densities, with pressure at twice nuclear saturation density measured at 3.5_{-1.7}^{+2.7}×10^{34} dyn cm^{-2} at the 90% level.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of add-on exenatide to insulin on glycemic excursion and the counter-regulatory hormone in response to hypoglycemia in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). METHODS 30 patients with T1DM were recruited and randomly assigned to exenatide + insulin-treated group (group 1, n = 15) or insulin-only-treated group (group 2, n = 15) for 4 weeks. All patients had continuous glucose monitor system (CGMS) applied at before (week-0) and after (week-4) treatment to evaluate the glycemic variability. All patients had an arginine-stimulated test at before and after treatment. Six patients from each group also had hypoglycemic clamp test to assess counter-regulatory hormone level. RESULTS Patients in the exenatide group had significant reductions in body weight, body mass index (BMI), total insulin dose, bolus insulin dose, fructosamine, and glycemic excursion after 4 weeks' treatment. Compared with patients in group 2, the mean amplitude of glycemic excursion (MAGE) and coefficient of variation (CV) of exenatide group decreased significantly. Similarly, a significant decrease of glucagon (GLC) in the arginine-stimulated test was found in group 1. No significant changes of GLC, growth hormone (GH), cortisol (COR), epinephrine (E), and norepinephrine (NE) were found in both groups during hypoglycemia clamp test. However, patients who had residual islet function in group 1 showed an upward trend of basic C-peptide (C-P) and GLC during the hypoglycemia period. CONCLUSION Although exenatide could inhibit glucagon secretion during euglycemia or hyperglycemia in patients with T1DM, it has no effect on GLC and counter-regulatory hormones during hypoglycemia clamp in patients with no functional residual islet test.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Conventional criteria for tumor progression may not fully reflect the clinical benefit of immunotherapy or appropriately guide treatment decisions. The phase II IMvigor210 study demonstrated the efficacy and safety of atezolizumab, a programmed death-ligand 1-directed antibody, in patients with platinum-treated locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma. Patients could continue atezolizumab beyond Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors (RECIST) v1.1 progression at the investigator's discretion: this analysis assessed post-progression outcomes in these patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients were treated with atezolizumab 1200 mg i.v. every 3 weeks until loss of clinical benefit. Efficacy and safety outcomes in patients who experienced RECIST v1.1 progression and did, or did not, continue atezolizumab were analyzed descriptively. RESULTS In total, 220 patients who experienced progression from the overall cohort (n = 310) were analyzed: 137 continued atezolizumab for ≥ 1 dose after progression, 19 received other systemic therapy, and 64 received no further systemic therapy. Compared with those who discontinued, patients continuing atezolizumab beyond progression were more likely to have had a baseline Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 (43.1% versus 31.3%), less likely to have had baseline liver metastases (27.0% versus 41.0%), and more likely to have had an initial response to atezolizumab (responses in 11.7% versus 1.2%). Five patients (3.6%) continuing atezolizumab after progression had subsequent responses compared with baseline measurements. Median post-progression overall survival was 8.6 months in patients continuing atezolizumab, 6.8 months in those receiving another treatment, and 1.2 months in those receiving no further treatment. Atezolizumab exposure-adjusted adverse event frequencies were generally similar before and following progression. CONCLUSION In this single-arm study, patients who continued atezolizumab beyond RECIST v1.1 progression derived prolonged clinical benefit without additional safety signals. Identification of patients most likely to benefit from atezolizumab beyond progression remains an important challenge in the management of metastatic urothelial carcinoma. Abstract
We report on the first γ-ray spectroscopy of low-lying states in neutron-rich ^{98,100}Kr isotopes obtained from ^{99,101}Rb(p,2p) reactions at ∼220 MeV/nucleon. A reduction of the 2_{1}^{+} state energies beyond N=60 demonstrates a significant increase of deformation, shifted in neutron number compared to the sharper transition observed in strontium and zirconium isotopes. State-of-the-art beyond-mean-field calculations using the Gogny D1S interaction predict level energies in good agreement with experimental results. The identification of a low-lying (0_{2}^{+}, 2_{2}^{+}) state in ^{98}Kr provides the first experimental evidence of a competing configuration at low energy in neutron-rich krypton isotopes consistent with the oblate-prolate shape coexistence picture suggested by theory.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between IgH gene rearrangement and orbital MALT (mucose-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma removal operation prognosis, and to quantify the effect of IgH gene rearrangement on primary orbital MALT lymphoma prognosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Fifty-eight patient cases with primary orbital MALT lymphoma were included in this study. Orbital lymphoma specimens were embedded in paraffin for sectioning. IgH gene rearrangement was detected using PCR. The correlation between IgH gene rearrangement and the patient recurrence and survival rates were determined using statistical analysis. The aforementioned rates were calculated and a survival curve was determined. p-values lower than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS We found that the 5-year disease-free survival rate was 90.8% in patients with orbital MALT lymphoma (mean value 56.7 months, range 52-60 months). The use of IgH gene rearrangement detection methods found that the non-recurrence rate of primary orbital MALT lymphoma cases was 79.3%. Survival analysis revealed that IgH gene rearrangement was significantly correlated with recurrence of orbital MALT lymphoma (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS IgH gene rearrangement detection can be improved by the combined usage of multiple primer pairs, especially family specific primers. In the future, detection of IgH gene rearrangement may be used as a novel marker to predict the prognosis of patients with primary orbital MALT lymphoma.

Abstract
We report experimental observation of large anomalous Hall effect exhibited in non-collinear triangular antiferromagnet D019-type Mn3Ga with coplanar spin structure at temperatures higher than 100 K. The value of anomalous Hall resistivity increases with increasing temperature, which reaches 1.25 μΩ · cm at a low field of ~300 Oe at room temperature. The corresponding room-temperature anomalous Hall conductivity is about 17 (Ω · cm)−1. Most interestingly, as temperature falls below 100 K, a temperature-independent topological-like Hall effect was observed. The maximum peak value of topological Hall resistivity is about 0.255 μΩ · cm. The appearance of the topological Hall effect is attributed to the change of spin texture as a result of weak structural distortion from hexagonal to orthorhombic symmetry in Mn3Ga. Present study suggests that Mn3Ga shows promising possibility to be antiferromagnetic spintronics or topological Hall effect-based data storage devices.

Abstract
The first measurement of the low-lying states of the neutron-rich ^{110}Zr and ^{112}Mo was performed via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy after one proton removal on hydrogen at ∼200 MeV/nucleon. The 2_{1}^{+} excitation energies were found at 185(11) keV in ^{110}Zr, and 235(7) keV in ^{112}Mo, while the R_{42}=E(4_{1}^{+})/E(2_{1}^{+}) ratios are 3.1(2), close to the rigid rotor value, and 2.7(1), respectively. These results are compared to modern energy density functional based configuration mixing models using Gogny and Skyrme effective interactions. We conclude that first levels of ^{110}Zr exhibit a rotational behavior, in agreement with previous observations of lighter zirconium isotopes as well as with the most advanced Monte Carlo shell model predictions. The data, therefore, do not support a harmonic oscillator shell stabilization scenario at Z=40 and N=70. The present data also invalidate predictions for a tetrahedral ground state symmetry in ^{110}Zr.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of the present study was to analyze the surgical safety of retaining the glands in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (mPTC). PATIENTS AND METHODS 156 cases of mPTC were retrospectively reviewed and divided into four groups according to the treatment: group A (conservative follow-up group, 30 cases), group B (total resection of unilateral gland combined with isthmic resection, 48 cases), group C (total resection of unilateral gland combined with subtotal resection of contralateral gland, 47 cases), and group D (total resection of bilateral glands, 31 cases). The average follow-up time was 34.5 months. RESULTS The occurrence rate of hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, hypocalcemia, injury of the recurrent laryngeal nerve and total occurrence rate in the group B were significantly lower than in the group C and group D, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). The 75% survival time was 33 months in group A, 35 months in group B, and 34 months in group D. The survival time of group A was significantly less than in the other groups, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.001). There was no significant difference in the comparison of total mortality rate and recurrence rate (p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS The total resection of the unilateral gland combined with isthmic resection, which conserves gland functionality, reduces complications and maintains survival time. It is, therefore, worthy of further clinical application.

Abstract
Background: To determine the therapeutic efficacy and cost-effective of pancreatic kininogenase (PKase) on treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) compared with Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: 104 patients with DPN receiving standard glucose control therapy were randomly assigned into 3 groups: Group-A received PKase treatment, Group-B received PGE1 treatment, and Group-C received only standard glucose control therapy. Michigan neuropathy screening instrument (MNSI) score, neurophysiology examination, and nerve conduction velocity were measured. Results: Standard glucose control therapy significantly reduced hyperglycemia to a similar level in all groups. Questionnaire grading and neurophysiology examination both indicated that no significant difference was found at the end of treatment between Groups -A and -B. Except for the ulnar nerve sensory conduction velocity that was significantly improved in Group-B, the remaining nerve conduction velocity (regardless of sensory or motor nerve conduction velocities) was improved to a similar level in Groups -A and -B. Group-A had significantly reduced questionnaire grading and better improvement in motor nerve conduction velocity of the common peroneal nerve, ulnar nerve, and sensory nerve conduction velocity of the sural nerve as compared with Group-C. However, the medical cost of PKase was only 18.9% of that of PGE1 during one course of treatment. Conclusions: PKase has the similar therapeutic efficacy as PGE1 on treatment of DPN in patients with type 2 diabetes. However, the medical cost of PKase is one fifth of that of PGE1. Thus, PKase is a cost-effective drug for treatment of DPN.

Abstract
The complex, direction-dependent, poro-viscoelastic properties of the intervertebral disc (disc) suggest that investigations of the six degree of freedom (6DOF) behaviour may be susceptible to inter-test variation in mechanical response if the disc does not return to initial conditions between loading directions. No studies have quantified the effects of sequential multi-directional loading on the consistency of the compressive response of the disc throughout a 6DOF testing protocol. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the effect of 6DOF loading on the compressive properties (stiffness and phase angle) of human discs, as evaluated by a reference compression test performed after each single DOF test. Fourteen intact human functional spinal units (FSU) were tested in each of ±6DOFs (shear directions followed by bending and compression) across four orders of magnitude loading frequencies (0.001-1Hz), followed by reference compression tests while subjected to physiological preload, hydration, and body temperature conditions in a hexapod robot. Repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant within-subjects effects between the reference compression tests for modulus (p<0.001), stiffness (p<0.001), and phase angle (p=0.008). Significant post-hoc pairwise comparisons were initially seen between the control and other reference compression tests for stiffness and modulus after the shear DOFs, however, no significant differences were present after the final reference compression test compared to control. More pronounced effects were seen for stiffness in comparison to modulus and phase angle. These effects may be due to three potentials factors, which include the sequence of testing, the cohort of degenerative specimens, and/or cumulative creep due to the constant application of a follower load. While the sequence of test directions was chosen to minimise the biphasic effect, there may be other sequences, which could result in minimal changes in compressive properties.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To understand the key characteristics of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Overlap Syndrome (ACOS) and to identify evidence gaps relating to the identification, treatment and management of ACOS patients. METHODS A structured literature review and 1-hour telephone interviews with specialist respiratory physicians were conducted (n=10; China, France, Germany, Japan and the USA). RESULTS All 10 physicians used the term ACOS in clinical practice. ACOS was not clearly defined in the literature. Prevalence of ACOS among adult patients with COPD or asthma ranged from 12-55%. ACOS patients had severe disease, with increased exacerbations and hospitalisations compared to some asthma and COPD patients. ACOS represented a clinical challenge due to a lack of evidence-based guidelines distinguishing between asthma, COPD and ACOS. Published data quantifying ACOS costs were limited. CONCLUSIONS There is a need for consensus evidence-based guidance to facilitate earlier diagnosis and to optimise the management of ACOS patients.

Abstract
AIM A sensitive and selective method was developed and validated to study the pharmacokinetics of isatin. METHODS The blood samples were pretreated by protein precipitation method using methanol. Quetiapine was used as an internal standard. After pretreatment, the samples were assayed by LC/MS/MS method and the pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by WinNonlin 5.2 using non-compartment model. The separation was performed on a Venusil XBP PH column (5 µm, 2.0×100 mm) with an isocratic mobile phase consisted of methanol-water (containing 50 mM ammonium formate) (65:35, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. The Agilent G6410B triple quadrupole LC/MS system was operated under the multiple reactions monitoring mode (MRM) using the electrospray ionization technique in positive mode. RESULTS The lower limits of quantification (LLOQ) of the analyte of the method was 10 ng/mL. The method was linear with correlation coefficient >0.995. The intraday and interday accuracy and precision of the assay were acceptable. CONCLUSION This method has been applied successfully to a pharmacokinetic study involving the oral and intravenous administration of isatin to beagle dogs.

Abstract
ABT-450, ombitasvir, and dasabuvir are direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) that have been developed for combination treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Because these DAAs have metabolic and transporter profiles that overlap with cyclosporine and tacrolimus disposition, there is potential for drug interactions. Two Phase 1 studies assessed effects of ABT-450 (150 mg coadministered with ritonavir 100 mg once daily), ombitasvir (25 mg once daily), and dasabuvir (400 mg twice daily) on the pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of a single dose of cyclosporine (30 mg) or tacrolimus (2 mg) in healthy volunteers (N = 12 per study). In the presence of steady-state concentrations of all 3 DAAs, dose-normalized cyclosporine concentration at 24 hours (C₂₄), and area under the concentration-time curve from time 0 to infinity (AUC(∞)) were 15.8-fold and 5.8-fold, respectively, and dose-normalized tacrolimus C₂₄ and AUC(∞) were 17-fold and 57-fold, respectively, of either agent alone. Cyclosporine and tacrolimus half-lives increased from 7 to 25 h and 32 to 232 h, respectively. There were no major safety or tolerability issues in these studies. The results suggest that cyclosporine and tacrolimus doses and dosing frequency should be reduced in HCV-infected posttransplant patients being treated with this 3-DAA regimen.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a complex and heritable eating disorder characterized by dangerously low body weight. Neither candidate gene studies nor an initial genome-wide association study (GWAS) have yielded significant and replicated results. We performed a GWAS in 2907 cases with AN from 14 countries (15 sites) and 14 860 ancestrally matched controls as part of the Genetic Consortium for AN (GCAN) and the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium 3 (WTCCC3). Individual association analyses were conducted in each stratum and meta-analyzed across all 15 discovery data sets. Seventy-six (72 independent) single nucleotide polymorphisms were taken forward for in silico (two data sets) or de novo (13 data sets) replication genotyping in 2677 independent AN cases and 8629 European ancestry controls along with 458 AN cases and 421 controls from Japan. The final global meta-analysis across discovery and replication data sets comprised 5551 AN cases and 21 080 controls. AN subtype analyses (1606 AN restricting; 1445 AN binge-purge) were performed. No findings reached genome-wide significance. Two intronic variants were suggestively associated: rs9839776 (P=3.01 × 10(-7)) in SOX2OT and rs17030795 (P=5.84 × 10(-6)) in PPP3CA. Two additional signals were specific to Europeans: rs1523921 (P=5.76 × 10(-)(6)) between CUL3 and FAM124B and rs1886797 (P=8.05 × 10(-)(6)) near SPATA13. Comparing discovery with replication results, 76% of the effects were in the same direction, an observation highly unlikely to be due to chance (P=4 × 10(-6)), strongly suggesting that true findings exist but our sample, the largest yet reported, was underpowered for their detection. The accrual of large genotyped AN case-control samples should be an immediate priority for the field.

Abstract
Robotic biomechanics is a powerful tool for further developing our understanding of biological joints, tissues and their repair. Both velocity-based and hybrid force control methods have been applied to biomechanics but the complex and non-linear properties of joints have limited these to slow or stepwise loading, which may not capture the real-time behaviour of joints. This paper presents a novel force control scheme combining stiffness and velocity based methods aimed at achieving six degree of freedom unconstrained force control at physiological loading rates.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The main aim of this study was to identify foetal susceptibility genes on chromosome six for Ro/SSA autoantibody-mediated congenital heart block. SUBJECTS AND DESIGN Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping of individuals in the Swedish Congenital Heart Block (CHB) study population was performed. Low-resolution HLA-A, -Cw and -DRB1 allele typing was carried out in 86 families comprising 339 individuals (86 Ro/SSA autoantibody-positive mothers, 71 fathers, 87 CHB index cases and 95 unaffected siblings). RESULTS A case-control comparison between index cases and population-based out-of-study controls (n = 1710) revealed association of CHB with 15 SNPs in the 6p21.3 MHC locus at a chromosome-wide significance of P < 2.59 × 10(-6) (OR 2.21-3.12). In a family-based analysis of association of SNP markers as well as distinct MHC class I and II alleles with CHB, HLA-DRB1*04 and HLA-Cw*05 variants were significantly more frequently transmitted to affected individuals (P < 0.03 and P < 0.05, respectively), whilst HLA-DRB1*13 and HLA-Cw*06 variants were significantly less often transmitted to affected children (P < 0.04 and P < 0.03). We further observed marked association of increased paternal (but not maternal) HLA-DRB1*04 transmission to affected offspring (P < 0.02). CONCLUSIONS HLA-DRB1*04 and HLA-Cw*05 were identified as novel foetal HLA allele variants that confer susceptibility to CHB in response to Ro/SSA autoantibody exposure, whilst DRB1*13 and Cw*06 emerged as protective alleles. Additionally, we demonstrated a paternal contribution to foetal susceptibility to CHB for the first time.

Abstract
The cichlid fishes of Lake Malawi represent one of the most diverse adaptive radiations of vertebrates known. Among the rock-dwelling cichlids (mbuna), closely related sympatric congeners possess similar trophic morphologies (i.e. cranial and jaw structures), defend overlapping or adjacent territories, but can be easily distinguished based on male nuptial coloration. The apparent morphological similarity of congeners, however, leads to an ecological conundrum: theory predicts that ecological competition should lead to competitive exclusion. Hence, we hypothesized that slight, yet significant, ecological differences accompanied the divergence in sexual signals and that the divergence of ecological and sexual traits is correlated. To evaluate this hypothesis, we quantified body shape, a trait of known ecological importance, in populations of Maylandia zebra, a barred, widespread mbuna, and several sympatric nonbarred congeners. We found that the barred populations differ in body shape from their nonbarred sympatric congeners and that the direction of shape differences was consistent across all barred vs. nonbarred comparisons. Barred populations are generally deeper bodied which may be an adaptation to the structurally complex habitat they prefer, whereas the nonbarred species have a more fusiform body shape, which may be adaptive in their more open microhabitat. Furthermore, M. zebra populations sympatric with nonbarred congeners differ from populations where the nonbarred phenotype is absent and occupy less morphospace, indicating potential ecological character displacement. Mitochondrial DNA as well as published AFLP data indicated that the nonbarred populations are not monophyletic and therefore may have evolved multiple times independently. Overall our data suggest that the evolution of coloration and body shape may be coupled as a result of correlational selection. We hypothesize that correlated evolution of sexually selected and ecological traits may have contributed to rapid speciation as well as the maintenance of diversity in one of the most diverse adaptive radiations known.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is a multifactorial disease involving a complex interplay between genetic and environmental factors. An important role of HIF-1α in cervical cancer carcinogenesis has been studied by multiple researches. We hypothesized that there is a possible association between HIF-1α gene polymorphisms and the risk of cervical cancer in Chinese women. In a case-control study of 518 cervical cancer patients and 553 cancer-free controls, we genotyped three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs11549465, rs11549467 and rs2057482) of HIF-1α using the TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays and assessed its associations with the cervical cancer risk. Besides, 17 cervical cancer tissues were used to assess the expression of the mature mRNA expression of HIF-1α by real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR. We found that a significantly increased risk of cervical cancer was associated with the CC genotype of rs2057482 in the 3´-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of HIF-1α (odds ratio (OR), 1.44; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.11-1.88), compared with the CT/TT genotypes. Moreover, the carriers of CT/TT genotypes had significantly decreased HIF-1α mRNA expression levels compared to those with CC genotype. No association was observed between the two polymorphisms (rs11549465, rs11549467) and cervical cancer risk. So that, our results provided the first insight into rs2057482 polymorphism of in the 3´-untranslated region of HIF-1α contributed to the risk of cervical cancer in a Chinese population and thus may serve as a reliable predictive factor of cervical cancer.

Abstract
Age-related hearing loss - presbycusis - is the number one communication disorder and most prevalent neurodegenerative condition of our aged population. Although speech understanding in background noise is quite difficult for those with presbycusis, there are currently no biomedical treatments to prevent, delay or reverse this condition. A better understanding of the cochlear mechanisms underlying presbycusis will help lead to future treatments. Objectives of the present study were to investigate GABAA receptor subunit α1, nicotinic acetylcholine (nACh) receptor subunit β2, and N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit NR1 mRNA and protein expression changes in spiral ganglion neurons (SGN) of the CBA/CaJ mouse cochlea, that occur in age-related hearing loss, utilizing quantitative immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) techniques. We found that auditory brainstem response (ABR) thresholds shifted over 40dB from 3 to 48kHz in old mice compared to young adults. DPOAE thresholds also shifted over 40dB from 6 to 49kHz in old mice, and their amplitudes were significantly decreased or absent in the same frequency range. SGN density decreased with age in basal, middle and apical turns, and SGN density of the basal turn declined the most. A positive correlation was observed between SGN density and ABR wave 1amplitude. mRNA and protein expression of GABAAR α1 and AChR β2 decreased with age in SGNs in the old mouse cochlea. mRNA and protein expression of NMDAR NR1 increased with age in SGNs of the old mice. These findings demonstrate that there are functionally-relevant age-related changes of GABAAR, nAChR, NMDAR expression in CBA mouse SGNs reflecting their degeneration, which may be related to functional changes in cochlear synaptic transmission with age, suggesting biological mechanisms for peripheral age-related hearing loss.

Abstract
The association of nonfunctional variants of the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) with efficacy of statins has been a subject of debate. We evaluated whether three functional CETP variants influence statin efficacy. The effect of CETP genotype on achieved levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLc), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLc), and total cholesterol during statin treatment was estimated by meta-analysis of the linear regression outcomes of three studies (11,021 individuals). The effect of these single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on statin response in protecting against myocardial infarction (MI) was estimated by meta-analysis of statin × SNP interaction terms from logistic regression in five studies (16,570 individuals). The enhancer SNP rs3764261 significantly increased HDLc by 0.02 mmol/l per T allele (P = 6 × 10(-5)) and reduced protection against MI by statins (interaction odds ratio (OR) = 1.19 per T allele; P = 0.04). Focusing on functional CETP variants, we showed that in carriers of the rs3764261 T variant, HDLc increased more during statin treatment, and protection against MI by statins appeared to be reduced as compared with those in noncarriers.
