Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the infection and genotypes of Wolbachia in common mosquito species in Henan Province, so as to provide insights into management of mosquito-borne diseases. METHODS Aedes, Culex and Anopheles samples were collected from cowsheds, sheepfolds and human houses in Puyang, Nanyang City and Xuchang cities of Henan Province from July to September, 2022, and the infection of Wolbachia was detected. The 16S rDNA and wsp genes of Wolbachia were amplified and sequenced. Sequence alignment was performed using the BLAST software, and the obtained 16S rDNA gene sequence was compared with the sequence of the 16S rDNA gene in GenBank database. In addition, the phylogenetic trees were created based on 16S rDNA and wsp gene sequences using the software MEGA 11.0. RESULTS A total 506 female adult mosquitoes were collected from three sampling sites in Nanyang, Xuchang City and Puyang cities from July to September, 2022. The overall detection of Wolbachia was 45.1% (228/506) in mosquitoes, with a higher detection rate in A. albopictus than in Cx. pipiens pallens [97.9% (143/146) vs. 50.6% (85/168); χ2 = 88.064, P < 0.01]. The detection of Wolbachia in Cx. pipiens pallens was higher in Xuchang City (96.8%, 62/64) than in Nanyang (15.6%, 7/45) and Puyang cities (27.1%, 16/59) (χ2 = 89.950, P < 0.01). The homologies of obtained Wolbachia 16S rDNA and wsp gene sequences were 95.3% to 100.0% and 81.7% to 99.8%. Phylogenetic analysis based on wsp gene sequences showed Wolbachia supergroups A and B in mosquito samples, with wAlbA and wMors strains in supergroup A and wPip and wAlbB strains in supergroup B. Wolbachia strain wAlbB infection was detected in A. albopictus in Puyang and Nanyang Cities, while Wolbachia strain wPip infection was identified in A. albopictus in Xuchang City. Wolbachia strain wAlbA infection was detected in Cx. pipiens pallens sampled from three cities, and one Cx. pipiens pallens was found to be infected with Wolbachia strain wMors in Nanyang City. CONCLUSIONS Wolbachia infection is commonly prevalent in Ae. albopictus and Cx. pipiens pallens from Henan Province, and Wolbachia strains wAlbB and wAlbA are predominant in Ae. albopictus, while wPip strain is predominant in Cx. pipiens pallens. This is the first report to present Wolbachia wMors strain infection in Cx. pipiens pallens in Henan Province.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the molluscicidal activity of surfactin against Oncomelania hupensis, so as to provide the experimental basis for use of Bacillus for killing O. hupensis. METHODS O. hupensis snails were collected from schistosomiasisendemic foci of Wuhu City on September 2022, and Schistosoma japonicum-infected snails were removed. Then, 60 snails were immersed in surfactin at concentrations of 2, 1, 0.5, 0.25, 0.125 mg/mL and 0.062 5 mg/mL for 24, 48, 72 hours at 26 °C, while ultrapure water-treated snails served as controls. The median lethal concentration (LC50) of surfactin against O. hupensis snails was estimated. O. hupensis snails were immersed in surfactin at a concentration of 24 h LC50 and ultrapure water, and then stained with propidium iodide (PI). The PI uptake in haemocyte was observed in O. hupensis snails using fluorescence microscopy. RESULTS The mortality of O. hupensis was 5.0% following immersion in surfactin at a concentration of 0.062 5 mg/mL for 24 h, and the mortality was 100.0% following immersion in surfactin at a concentration of 2 mg/mL for 72 h, while no snail mortality was observed in the control group. There were significant differences in the mortality of O. hupensis in each surfactin treatment groups at 24 (χ2 = 180.150, P < 0.05), 48 h (χ2 = 176.786, P < 0.05) and 72 h (χ2 = 216.487, P < 0.05), respectively. The average mortality rates of O. hupensis were 38.9% (140/360), 62.2% (224/360) and 83.3% (300/360) 24, 48 h and 72 h post-immersion in surfactin, respectively (χ2 = 150.264, P < 0.05), and the 24, 48 h and 72 h LC50 values of surfactin were 0.591, 0.191 mg/mL and 0.054 mg/mL against O. hupensis snails. Fluorescence microscopy showed more numbers of haemocytes with PI uptake in 0.5 mg/mL surfactintreated O. hupensis snails than in ultrapure water-treated snails for 24 h, and there was a significant difference in the proportion of PI uptake in haemocytes between surfactin-and ultrapure water-treated snails (χ2 = 6.690, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Surfactin is active against O. hupensis snails, which may be associated with the alteration in the integrity of haemocyte membrane.

Abstract
Objectives Alzheimer's disease (AD) and late-life depression (LLD) frequently exhibit executive function deficits (EFD) and medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) as shared characteristics. The objective of this research was to examine the utility of the Trail Making Test (TMT) and the MTA scale in distinguishing between LLD and AD. Methods A study of 100 patients, 50 with AD and 50 with LLD, was conducted using a cross-sectional design. The individuals were subjected to clinical evaluations to assess their level of depression and overall cognitive abilities, which included the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). We evaluated executive function deficits (EFD) through the use of the TMT, which includes both TMT-A and TMT-B. MTA was measured using magnetic resonance imaging. To evaluate the ability of TMT and MTA scale to distinguish between the two groups, a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was utilized. To investigate the connections between MTA and neuropsychological measures, a correlation analysis was performed. Results AD patients exhibited notably reduced MMSE, MoCA, and GDS scores, as well as an increased MTA total scores, time spent on TMT-A, and TMT-B compared to LLD patients (p < 0.05). TMT-A and TMT-B both exhibited excellent discriminatory power between AD and LLD, achieving area under curve (AUC) values of 92.2 and 94.2%, respectively. In AD patients, there was a negative correlation between MMSE and MoCA scores and MTA scores, while in LLD patients, there was a positive correlation between time spent on TMT-A and GDS scores and MTA scores. Conclusion AD patients experience more severe EFD and MTA than LLD patients. The differential diagnosis of AD and LLD can be aided by the useful tool known as TMT. It is important to acknowledge that TMT is capable of capturing only a fraction of the executive function, thus necessitating a cautious interpretation of research findings.

Abstract
A hybrid stochastic simulation method is developed to study H2-O2 auto-ignition at the microscale. Simulation results show that the discrete and stochastic characteristics of reaction collisions have notable impacts on the ignition process, particularly in the early stages when only a few radicals exist. The statistical properties of ignition delay time, which reflect the accumulated stochasticity during ignition, are obtained and analyzed for different initial temperatures and total molecular numbers. It is found that the average and standard deviation of ignition delay time increase as the total molecular number decreases, with this phenomenon being particularly pronounced near the crossover temperature. When the total molecular number is sufficiently small, the chain initiation reaction becomes crucial to the stochastic properties, as its average firing time exhibits an inverse proportionality to the total molecular number. As the total molecular number increases, the influence of other chain reactions intensifies, causing the power law relation between standard deviation and total molecular number to shift from -1 power to -0.5 power. Owing to different chain reaction paths for high- and low-temperature auto-ignition, the strongest relative fluctuation occurs near the crossover temperature. A theoretical equation for the standard deviation of ignition delay time is obtained based on dimensional analysis, giving excellent agreement with the simulation results in both high- and low-temperature modes.

Abstract
Salicylic acid (SA) has been recognized as a promising molecule for improving abiotic stress tolerance in plants due to its ability to enhance antioxidant defense system, and promote root architecture system. Recent research has focused on uncovering the mechanisms by which SA confers abiotic stress tolerance in horticultural crops. SA has been shown to act as a signaling molecule that triggers various physiological and morphological responses in plants. SA regulates the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Moreover, it can also act as signaling molecule that regulate the expression of stress-responsive genes. SA can directly interact with various hormones, proteins and enzymes involved in abiotic stress tolerance. SA regulates the antioxidant enzymes activities that scavenge toxic ROS, thereby reducing oxidative damage in plants. SA can also activate protein kinases that phosphorylate and activate transcription factors involved in stress responses. Understanding these mechanisms is essential for developing effective strategies to improve crop resilience in the face of changing environmental conditions. Current information provides valuable insights for farmers and plant researchers, offering new strategies to enhance crop resilience and productivity in the face of environmental challenges. By harnessing the power of SA and its signaling pathways, farmers can develop more effective stress management techniques and optimize crop performance. Plant researchers can also explore innovative approaches to breed or engineer crops with enhanced stress tolerance, thereby contributing to sustainable agriculture and food security.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The double-J stent (DJS) is a commonly used ureteral stent in urological surgeries, which provides support and drainage. However, the DJS may result in various complications such as infection, hematuria, stone formation, stent occlusion, and migration. Normally, one end of the DJS is located in the renal pelvis, and the other end in the bladder. In this case report, we describe the rare occurrence of a misplaced DJS during laparoscopic pyeloplasty, which was unintentionally placed in the contralateral renal pelvis. CASE REPORT A 4-month-old male infant was diagnosed with left hydronephrosis. After confirmation of the diagnosis, laparoscopic left pyeloplasty was performed with the placement of a DJS. The patient did not experience any discomfort, such as nausea, vomiting, refusal to feed, crying and restlessness, or fever, after the operation, and was discharged on postoperative day 4. The patient returned to the hospital for DJS removal 6 weeks after the operation. However, the kidneys, ureters, and bladder (KUB) X-ray examination showed that the DJS was unintentionally placed in the contralateral ureter and renal pelvis. The stent was confirmed and removed under cystoscopy. Postoperative examination of the DJS showed that there was a hole in the side of the middle of the stent for urine drainage, with no obstruction or contralateral hydronephrosis. CONCLUSIONS Misplacement of a DJS in the contralateral renal pelvis during laparoscopic pyeloplasty is a rare but potentially serious complication. Surgeons should be cautious when placing the stent and confirm its placement with imaging studies. Patients should be closely monitored for postoperative complications and prompt intervention should be taken if necessary.

Drought stress-mediated differences in phyllosphere microbiome and associated pathogen resistance between male and female poplars. Abstract
Phyllosphere-associated microbes play a crucial role in plant-pathogen interactions while their composition and diversity are strongly influenced by drought stress. As dioecious plant species exhibited secondary dimorphism between the two sexes in response to drought stress, whether such difference will lead to sex-specific differences in phyllosphere microbiome and associated pathogen resistance between male and female conspecifics is still unknown. In this study, we subjected female and male full siblings of a dioecious poplar species to a short period of drought treatment followed by artificial infection of a leaf pathogenic fungus. Our results showed that male plants grew better than females with or without drought stress. Female control plants had more leaf lesion area than males after pathogen infection, whereas drought stress reversed such a difference. Further correlation and in vitro toxicity tests suggested that drought-mediated sexual differences in pathogen resistance between the two plant sexes could be attributed to the shifts in structure and function of phyllosphere-associated microbiome rather than the amount of leaf main defensive chemicals contained in plant leaves. Supportively, the microbiome analysis through high-throughput sequencing indicated that female phyllosphere enriched a higher abundance of ecologically beneficial microbes that serve as biological plant protectants, while males harbored abundant phytopathogens under drought-stressed conditions. The results could provide potential implications for the selection of suitable poplar sex to plants in drought or semi-drought habitats.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and duration of embryo cryopreservation on perinatal outcomes of the first frozen-thawed cycle after whole embryo cryopreservation. Methods: The clinical data of 1 804 patients who underwent the first frozen-thawed cycle after whole embryo cryopreservation and achieved singleton live births in the Reproductive Center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2016 to June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. According to whether there was high risk of OHSS in the oocyte retrieval cycle, the patients were divided into high-risk group (n=790) and non-high-risk group (n=1 014). The baseline data and perinatal outcomes were compared between the two groups. Multivariate linear regression was applied to analyze the relative factors affecting neonatal weight. And the high-risk group was divided into three subgroups according to different cryopreservation time: the embryos of 96 cycles with a cryopreservation time less than 60 days were defined as group A; the embryos of 587 cycles with a cryopreservation time around 60 to 120 days were defined as group B; the embryos of 107 cycles with a cryopreservation time more than 120 days were defined as group C. The perinatal outcomes were compared among the three groups. The measurement data in this study were represented by[M(Q1,Q3)]. Results: The female age in the high-risk group was 30.0 (27.0, 32.0) years old, which was lower than that in the non-high-risk group 31.0 (29.0, 34.0) (P<0.001). The male age in high-risk group was 30.0 (28.0, 33.0), lower than that in non-high-risk group 32.0 (29.0, 35.0) (P<0.001). The birth weight of high-risk group [3 500.0 (3 200.0,3 800.0) g] was higher than that of control group [3 400.0 (3 150.0,3 800.0) g](P=0.045). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that female BMI was correlated with neonatal weight, β (95%CI) was 15.37(8.33, 22.41) (P<0.001), and the high risk of OHSS was not correlated with neonatal weight, β (95%CI) was 19.40 (-38.07, 76.87) (P=0.508). There was significant difference in the incidence of low birth weight and very low birth weight among groups A, B and C (all P values<0.05), and the incidence of low birth weight and very low birth weight in group C was higher than that in group B (all P values<0.017). Conclusions: The risk of adverse perinatal outcomes in high-risk OHSS patients who underwent the first frozen-thawed cycle after whole embryo cryopreservation was not increased. However, prolonged cryopreservation of embryos may lead to increased risk of low birth weight and very low birth weight.

Abstract
Automatic detection of major depressive disorder (MDD) with multiple-channel electroencephalography (EEG) signals is of great significance for treatment of the mental diseases. In a U-net network, clear EEG signals are fed to obtain temporal feature tensor through encoder and decoder networks with several convolution operations. Moreover, the clear EEG signals can be converted into multi-scale spectrogram to obtain the rich saliency information and then the spectrogram feature tensor can be extracted by another symmetrical U-net. The temporal and spectrogram feature tensors can provide more comprehensive information, but may also contain redundant information, which may affect the detection of MDD. To deal with such issue, this paper proposed a novel Temporal Spectrogram Unet (TSUnet-CC), which embeds the cross channel-wise attention mechanism for multiple-channel EEGbased MDD identification. We make three novel contributions: 1) multi-scale saliency-encoded spectrogram using Fourierbased approach to capture rich saliency information under different scales, 2) TSUnet network using a symmetrical twostream U-net architecture that learns multiple temporal and spectrogram feature tensors in time and frequency domains, and 3) cross channel-wise block enabling the larger weights of key feature channels that contain MDD information. The leaveone-subject-out experiments show that our proposed TSUnetCC gains high performance with a classification accuracy up to 98.55% and 99.22% in eyes closed and eyes open datasets, which outperformed some state-of-the-art methods and revealed its clinical potential.

A recently published study has even revealed that rs35006907 was associated with both MTSS1 expression and the risk of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Objective Our study intended to investigate the relationship between rs35006907 and the risk of DCM in the Han Chinese population. Methods A total of 529 DCM and 600 healthy controls were recruited. We conducted genotyping for rs35006907 in all participants. Gene association studies were performed to assess the association between rs35006907 and the risk of DCM. A series of functional assays including western blot, realtime PCR and firefly luciferase reporter gene assays were conducted to illuminate the underlying mechanism. Results We found that rs35006907-A allele was significantly associated with reduced risk of DCM in additive (p= 0.004; OR=0.78; 95% CI=0.66-0.93) and recessive models (p= 0.0005; OR=0.56; 95%CI=0.41-0.78) when compared with the rs35006907-C allele. There were significant differences in the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) between rs35006907-CC/AC and AA genotypes. Furthermore, the variant rs35006907-A allele presented lower reporter gene activity, reduced mRNA and protein expression levels when compared with the C allele. Conclusions Our findings demonstrated that rs35006907-C allele increased the risk of DCM in Han Chinese population. Besides, rs35006907-C displayed higher reporter gene activity and increased MTSS1 expression in human samples.

Abstract
The elliptic (v_{2}) and triangular (v_{3}) azimuthal anisotropy coefficients in central ^{3}He+Au, d+Au, and p+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV are measured as a function of transverse momentum (p_{T}) at midrapidity (|η|<0.9), via the azimuthal angular correlation between two particles both at |η|<0.9. While the v_{2}(p_{T}) values depend on the colliding systems, the v_{3}(p_{T}) values are system independent within the uncertainties, suggesting an influence on eccentricity from subnucleonic fluctuations in these small-sized systems. These results also provide stringent constraints for the hydrodynamic modeling of these systems.

Abstract
Apicomplexan parasites, including Toxoplasma gondii, encode many plant-like proteins, which play significant roles and present attractive targets for drug development. In this study, we have characterized the plant-like protein phosphatase PPKL, which is unique to the parasite and absent in its mammalian host. We have shown that its localization changes as the parasite divides. In non-dividing parasites, it is present in the cytoplasm, nucleus, and preconoidal region. As the parasite begins division, PPKL is enriched in the preconoidal region and the cortical cytoskeleton of the nascent parasites. Later in the division, PPKL is present in the basal complex ring. Conditional knockdown of PPKL showed that it is essential for parasite propagation. Moreover, parasites lacking PPKL exhibit uncoupling of division, with normal DNA duplication but severe defects in forming daughter parasites. While PPKL depletion does not impair the duplication of centrosomes, it affects the rigidity and arrangement of the cortical microtubules. Both Co-Immunoprecipitation and proximity labeling identified the kinase DYRK1 as a potential functional partner of PPKL. Complete knockout of DYRK1 phenocopies lack of PPKL, strongly suggesting a functional relationship between these two signaling proteins. Global phosphoproteomics analysis revealed a significant increase in phosphorylation of the microtubule-associated proteins SPM1 in PPKL-depleted parasites, suggesting PPKL regulates the cortical microtubules by mediating the phosphorylation state of SPM1. More importantly, the phosphorylation of cell cycle-associated kinase Crk1, a known regulator of daughter cell assembly, is altered in PPKL-depleted parasites. Thus, we propose that PPKL regulates daughter parasite development by influencing the Crk1-dependent signaling pathway.

Abstract
We report here the first observation of directed flow (v_{1}) of the hypernuclei _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H in mid-central Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3 GeV at RHIC. These data are taken as part of the beam energy scan program carried out by the STAR experiment. From 165×10^{6} events in 5%-40% centrality, about 8400 _{Λ}^{3}H and 5200 _{Λ}^{4}H candidates are reconstructed through two- and three-body decay channels. We observe that these hypernuclei exhibit significant directed flow. Comparing to that of light nuclei, it is found that the midrapidity v_{1} slopes of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H follow baryon number scaling, implying that the coalescence is the dominant mechanism for these hypernuclei production in the 3 GeV Au+Au collisions.

Postoperative drainage management and wound complications following resection of lower limb soft tissue tumors: a retrospective cohort study. Langenbecks Arch Surg 2023; 408:202. [PMID: 37209306 PMCID: PMC10199851 DOI: 10.1007/s00423-023-02939-9] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/15/2023] [Accepted: 05/12/2023] [Indexed: 05/22/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE Postoperative wound complications are common in patients undergoing resection of lower extremity soft tissue tumors. Postoperative drainage therapy ensures adequate wound healing but may delay or complicate it. The aim of this study is to evaluate the incidence of postoperative wound complications and delayed or prolonged drainage treatment and to propose a standardized definition and severity grading of complex postoperative courses. METHODS A monocentric retrospective analysis of 80 patients who had undergone primary resection of lower extremity soft tissue tumors was performed. A new classification was developed, which takes into account postoperative drainage characteristics and wound complications. Based on this classification, risk factors and the prognostic value of daily drainage volumes were evaluated. RESULTS According to this new definition, regular postoperative course grade 0 (no wound complication and timely drainage removal) occurred in 26 patients (32.5%), grade A (minor wound complications or delayed drainage removal) in 12 (15.0%), grade B (major wound complication or prolonged drainage therapy) in 31 (38.8%), and grade C (reoperation) in 11 (13.7%) patients. Tumor-specific characteristics, such as tumor size (p = 0.0004), proximal tumor location (p = 0.0484), and tumor depth (p = 0.0138) were identified as risk factors for complex postoperative courses (grades B and C). Drainage volume on postoperative day 4 was a suitable predictor for complex courses (cutoff of 70 ml/d). CONCLUSION The proposed definition incorporates wound complications and drainage management while also being clinically relevant and easy to apply. It may serve as a standardized endpoint for assessing the postoperative course after resection of lower extremity soft tissue tumors.

Abstract
We report the triton (t) production in midrapidity (|y|<0.5) Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=7.7-200 GeV measured by the STAR experiment from the first phase of the beam energy scan at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The nuclear compound yield ratio (N_{t}×N_{p}/N_{d}^{2}), which is predicted to be sensitive to the fluctuation of local neutron density, is observed to decrease monotonically with increasing charged-particle multiplicity (dN_{ch}/dη) and follows a scaling behavior. The dN_{ch}/dη dependence of the yield ratio is compared to calculations from coalescence and thermal models. Enhancements in the yield ratios relative to the coalescence baseline are observed in the 0%-10% most central collisions at 19.6 and 27 GeV, with a significance of 2.3σ and 3.4σ, respectively, giving a combined significance of 4.1σ. The enhancements are not observed in peripheral collisions or model calculations without critical fluctuation, and decreases with a smaller p_{T} acceptance. The physics implications of these results on the QCD phase structure and the production mechanism of light nuclei in heavy-ion collisions are discussed.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease is increasingly recognized as an important global public health problem, posing a heavy burden to the health system. It is necessary to monitor the status of kidney diseases and promote early intervention and management. Due to the large regional differences in the characteristics of kidney diseases and the uneven distribution of medical resources in China, traditional monitoring methods have several limitations in comprehensively exploring the burden and trends of kidney diseases. On the premise of ensuring data security and personal privacy, a cost-effective kidney disease surveillance system could be developed by integrating big data, artificial intelligence, and surveillance systems and utilizing health care data from different sources, thereby overcoming major disadvantages of traditional monitoring methods and providing reference for the prevention and control of kidney diseases in China.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship of social support to patients with schizophrenia, family burden with patients' quality of life and family life satisfaction. Methods: Multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling was used to select 358 patients with schizophrenia and 358 patients' family members in Gansu Province who met the inclusion criteria were included. The Social Support Rating Scale, Family Burden Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale and Quality of Life Scale were used in the survey. AMOS 24.0 was used to explore the pathway of influence of family burden on social support to patients with schizophrenia, patients' quality of life and patients' family life satisfaction. Results: There was a two-by-two significant correlation between patients' access to social support, family burden, patients' life quality and family life satisfaction (P<0.05), and the total score of the social support scale negatively predicted the total score of the life quality scale (β=-0.28, P<0.05) and positively predicted the total score of the life satisfaction scale (β=0.52, P<0.05). Family burden was a full mediator between the social support to the patient and the patient's quality of life, and as a partial mediator between the social support to the patient and the family's life satisfaction. Conclusions: Social support to people with schizophrenia is a significant predictor of their quality of life and family life satisfaction. Family burden mediates the relationship of social support to patients with their quality of life and family life satisfaction. Interventions can focus on increasing social support for the patient and reducing the burden on the patient's family to improve the patient's quality of life and increase the satisfaction of the patient's family.

Abstract
Taxus chinensis var. mairei is the endemic, endangered, and first-class protected tree species in China. This species is considered as an important resource plant because it can produce Taxol which is an effective medicinal compound against various cancers (Zhang et al., 2010). Stem blight was observed in two plant nurseries in Ya'an (102°44'E,30°42'N), Sichuan province in April 2021. The symptoms first appeared as round brown spots on the stem. As the disease progressed, the damaged area gradually expanded into an oval or irregular shape, which was dark brown. About 800 square meters of planting area were investigated and the disease incidence was up to approximately 64.8%. Twenty obviously symptomatic stems which exhibited the same symptoms as above were collected from 5 different trees in the nursery. To isolate the pathogen, the symptom margin was cut into small blocks (5 x 5 mm), and the blocks were surface sterilized in 75% ethanol for 90 s and 3% NaClO solution for 60 s . Finally incubated on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) at 28℃ for 5 days. Ten pure cultures were isolated by transferring hyphal and the three strains (HDS06, HDS07 and HDS08) were selected as representative isolates for further study. Initially, colonies on the PDA of three isolates were white and cotton-like, and then gradually turned gray-black from the center. After 21 days, conidia were produced and were smooth-walled, single-celled, black, oblate, or spherical, measuring 9.3 to 13.6 × 10.1 to 14.5 μm in size (n = 50). Conidia were present at the tip of conidiophores on hyaline vesicles. These morphological features were generally consistent with those of N. musae (Wang et al., 2017). To validate the identification, DNA were extracted from the three isolates, followed by the amplification of transcribed spacer region of rDNA (ITS), the translation elongation factor EF-1 (TEF-1), and the Beta-tubulin (TUB2) sequences with the respective primer pairs ITS1/ITS4 (White et al., 1990), EF-728F/EF-986R (Vieira et al., 2014) and Bt2a/Bt2b (O'Donnell et al., 1997) .The sequences were deposited in GenBank with the accession numbers ON965533, OP028064, OP028068, OP060349, OP060353, OP060354, OP060350, OP060351 and OP060352, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, TUB2, and TEF genes using the Mrbayes inference method showed that the three isolates clustered with Nigrospora musae as a distinct clade (Fig. 2). Combine with morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis, three isolates were identified as N. musae. 30 2-year-old healthy potted plants of T. chinensis were used for pathogenicity test. 25 of these plants were inoculated by injecting 10 μL of the conidia suspension (1 × 106 conidia/mL) into stems and then wrap around the seal to moisturize. The remaining 5 plants were injected with the same amount of sterilized distilled water as a control. Finally, all potted plants were placed in a greenhouse at 25°C and 80% relative humidity. After 2 weeks, the inoculated stems developed lesions similar to those observed in the field, whereas controls were asymptomatic. N. musae was re-isolated from the infected stem and identified by both morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. The experiments repeated three times showed similar results. As far as we know, this is the first report of N. musae causing T. chinensis stem blight in the world. The identification of N. musae could provide a certain theoretical basis for field management and further research of T. chinensis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic pyeloureteroplasty in the treatment of children suffering from hydronephrosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Our pediatric department received 160 children with hydronephrosis from January 2019 through December 2021. These children were randomly assigned to either the control group or the study group with 80 cases in each group. The control group underwent traditional open pyeloureteroplasty, while the study group underwent laparoscopic pyeloureteroplasty. After assessing the results of both groups, the clinical outcomes were compared. RESULTS The study group had a significantly shorter operating time, lower intraoperative bleeding rate, and shorter hospital stay than the control group. On the first day after the operation, there was no significant difference between the control and study groups, and on the seventh day after the operation, the study group's OPS was significantly lower than that of the control group. A significant difference was observed after treatment between the study group and the control group in terms of the anteroposterior diameter of the renal pelvis. Both groups' GFR increased significantly with time, and the GFR of the study group was significantly greater than that of the control group at 3 months after the operation, but there was no significant difference at 6 months after the operation. Postoperative adverse effects did not differ significantly between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS Pediatric laparoscopic pyeloureteroplasty can reduce intraoperative bleeding, shorten operation time and hospital stay, alleviate postoperative pain, and promote the recovery of postoperative renal morphology and function in children with hydronephrosis, which merits further discussion.

Abstract
English walnut (Juglans regia), has high economic and ecological value. As an important tree species for eliminating poverty, it is planted in many Provinces of China. In 2021, new pathogenic fungi were observed in English walnut in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, China. The initial symptom of leaf infection is that the leaves are covered with small black spots, which gradually expand into larger brown spots. Most of the spots appeared at the edges of the leaves, and yellow whorls were observed at the junction between the spots and the healthy leaves. The pathogenic fungi were isoalted form collecting disease samples and purified by single-spore culturing. In vitro and field experiments showed that the pathogen could cause brown spots on walnut leaves. The inoculation experiment showed that the symptoms in the field experiment were the same as those observed on the spot; however, slight differences were observed in the in vitro experiment. Ten isolates were obtained from walnut leaves with brown spot symptoms, and these were further characterized based on morphology and DNA sequencing. ITS (internal transcribed spacer), LSU (large sub-unit rDNA), rpb2 (second largest subunit of RNA polymerase) and tub2 (beta-tubulin) gene regions were used to construct phylogenetic trees and determine the evolutionary relationships among the collected strains. The isolate was identified as Nothophoma quercina by morphological and polygene analyses. As far as we are aware, the brown spots on walnut leaves caused by N. quercina is the first report of its kind.

Abstract
Walnut (Juglans regia) is a deciduous tree of the Juglandaceae family, widely cultivated in China, and provides value in a variety of ways, including the usage of the wood and nuts, and offers substantial economic, social, and environmental advantages (Wang et al, 2017). Nevertheless, a fungal disease of causing walnut trunk rot was observed in approximately 30% of 50 counted ten-year-old J. regia in Chongzhou City (30°33'34″N, 103°38'35″E, 513 m), Sichuan Province, China, and this disease has greatly delete healthy growth of walnut. The infected bark exhibited purple necrotic lesions, and the sick parts were surrounded by water-soaked plaques. From 10 trunks of the 10 diseased trees, 20 isolated fungal colonies were the same. The ascospores placed in 60 mm plates were almost entirely covered with mycelium within 8 days, colonies on the PDA changed from initial pale to white, ad then turned yellowish to light orange or rosy to yellow-brown (25℃, 90% relative humidity, 12-h photoperiod). On the host, Ectostromata were immersed to erumpent, globose to subglobose, purple and brown, and measured 0.6 - 4.5 × 0.3 - 2.8 mm (x̄ = 2.6 × 1.6 mm, n = 40); Ascomata were flask-shaped to subglobose, dark brown, and measured 0.1 - 0.6 × 0.1 - 0.4 mm (x̄ = 0.35 × 0.25 mm, n = 40); Asci were numerous, cylindrical to subclavate, contained 8 uniseriate ascospores, and measured 80 - 150 × 10 - 20 μm (x̄ = 115 × 15 μm, n = 40), and Ascospores were ellipsoid, 2-celled, dark brown to black, plump or attenuated towards, apices with 1 large drop per cell, and measured 14 - 20 × 6.5 - 9 μm (x̄ = 17 × 7.8 μm, n = 40). These morphological characteristics are consistent with the species Myrmaecium fulvopruinatum (Berk.) Jaklitsch & Voglmayr (Jaklitsch et al. 2015). The genomic DNA of a representative isolate SICAUCC 22-0148 was extracted. The ITS, LSU region, tef1-α, rpb2 genes region were amplified using the primer pairs ITS1/ITS4 primers (White et al. 1990), LR0R/LR5 (Moncalvo et al. 1995), EF1-688F/986R (Alves et al. 2008), fRPB2-5f/fRPB2-7cr (Liu et al. 1999), respectively. The sequences were deposited in NCBI with accession numbers ON287043 (ITS), ON287044 (LSU), ON315870 (tef1-α), and ON315871 (rpb2), rspectively, which showed 99.8, 99.8, 98.1, and 98.5% identities with M. fulvopruinatum CBS 139057 holotype (accession numbers KP687858, KP687858, KP688027, and KP687933 respectively). Based on the analyses of phylogenies and morphologies, the isolates were identified as M. fulvopruinatum. The pathogenicity of SICAUCC 22-0148 was tested by inoculating surface-sterilized trunk wounds of four-year-old trees of J. regia with a mycelial plug (Desai et al. 2019). Sterile PDA plugs were used as controls. Wounds were covered with a film, to ensure humidity and prevent contamination. Each inoculation was repeated twice and included two plants, control and inoculated. A month later, the symptoms observed on inoculated trunks were similar to those in the wild, and M. fulvopruinatum was re-isolated from the inoculated trunk, confirming Koch's postulates. Previous research has reported M. fulvopruinatum as an important fungal species that cause canker delete symptoms on Chinese sweet chestnut in China (Jiang et al. 2018). We carried the taxonomy work of the fungi that caused trunk rot on walnut, and this is the first time that M. fulvopruinatum has been linked to walnut trunk rot on J. regia. Trunk rot of walnut will not only cause weakening of trees, but also affect the yield and quality of walnuts, bringing huge economic losses. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was performed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the modified Brisson+Devine procedure in the management of concealed penis. PATIENTS AND METHODS In this retrospective study, the medical data of 45 children diagnosed with concealed penis who underwent modified Brisson+Devine procedure in the Department of Urology of Anhui Provincial Children's Hospital between January 2019 and December 2021 were analyzed. Follow-up visits were performed at one, three, and six months postoperatively, and outcome measures included postoperative complications and parental satisfaction. RESULTS All 45 children completed the surgery uneventfully. At 3-4 days after surgery, the penile dressing and the urinary catheter were removed. The patients were discharged 4-5 days postoperatively without ischemic necrosis of metastatic flaps. The follow-up visits spanned from 7 to 33 months, with a mean of 14.6 months. A statistically significant increase in the penile length after surgery was observed (p<0.05). The postoperative penile appearance was good, and the parents of the children had high treatment satisfaction (p<0.05). 38 children developed postoperative transferred flap edema, and the edema disappeared at 3 months postoperatively. CONCLUSIONS The modified Brisson+ Devine procedure for concealed penis allows maximum use of the foreskin to improve the appearance of the penis and has a high safety profile by reducing postoperative complications, and provides high treatment satisfaction.

Soil cadmium stress affects the phyllosphere microbiome and associated pathogen resistance differently in male and female poplars. JOURNAL OF EXPERIMENTAL BOTANY 2023; 74:2188-2202. Abstract
Microorganisms associated with the phyllosphere play a crucial role in protecting plants from diseases, and their composition and diversity are strongly influenced by heavy metal contaminants. Dioecious plants are known to exhibit sexual dimorphism in metal accumulation and tolerance between male and female individuals. Hence, in this study we used male and female full-siblings of Populus deltoides to investigate whether the two sexes present differences in their phyllosphere microbiome structures and in their associated resistance to the leaf pathogenic fungus Pestalotiopsis microspora after exposure to excess soil cadmium (Cd). We found that Cd-treated male plants grew better and accumulated more leaf Cd than females. Cd stress reduced the lesion areas on leaves of both sexes after pathogen infection, but male plants exhibited better resistance than females. More importantly, Cd exposure differentially altered the structure and function of the phyllosphere microbiomes between the male and female plants, with more abundant ecologically beneficial microbes and decreased pathogenic fungal taxa harbored by male plants. In vitro toxicity tests suggested that the sexual difference in pathogen resistance could be attribute to both direct Cd toxicity and indirect shifts in the phyllosphere microbiome. This study provides new information relevant for understanding the underlying mechanisms of the effects of heavy metals involved in plant-pathogen interactions.
