[Effect of ultrasonic extracting on the extraction rate of baicalin]

The method of extracting baicalin from Scutellaria baicalensis by ultrasound is studied. Compared with that of the decocting process which is usually used in medical industry, the method does not need to heat the medicine and can reduce the extraction time and raise the extraction rate.

[Clinico-pathologic analysis of 60 patients with primary malignant lymphoma of the small intestine and mesentery]

Clinico-pathologic analysis of 60 patients with primary malignant lymphoma of the small intestine and mesentery is presented. It occurs mainly in the adult. Both of these two tumors were first presented by abdominal pain and mass. Secondary anemia was common. They were complicated by intestinal obstruction, perforation or intussusception. The prognosis was aggravated by a large tumor mass, advanced stage and pathology of diffuse large cell subtype. Combined surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy were effective.

[Effects of different administration of Salvia miltiorrhiza and heparin on antithrombin IIIAg, antithrombin III: A and alpha 2-macroglobulin in patients with cor pulmonale]

The effects of different administration of Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM) and heparin on ATIII and alpha 2-M in 102 patients with cor pulmonale were studied. The results showed that (1) the level of ATIII in patients was significantly lower than that in the controls (P less than 0.01). Heparin intravenous drip induced ATIII decreased; (2) the level of ATIII:A in patients with heparin vapour inhalation treatment was significantly higher than that with regular treatment and with heparin intravenous drip (P less than 0.05) and (P less than 0.005); (3) SM presents ATIII-like activity, after treatment with SM, the level of ATIII:A was significantly higher than that with heparin vapour inhalation, heparin intravenous drip and regular treatment (P less than 0.05-0.005), heparin may enhance the ATIII-like activity of SM; (4) the treatment combining SM intravenous drip with heparin vapour inhalation is an efficient therapy of anticoagulation on the patients with cor pulmonale. The level of alpha 2-M in each group did not reveal significant change.

[A quantitative evaluation of rheumatism activity in chronic rheumatic heart disease]

The clinical data of 185 patients with rheumatic heart disease (RHD) proved by pathological biopsies were recorded before operations, and analysed using the stepwise regression analysis of multi-factors (SRAM). A mathematical formula to judge the activities of rheumatism in RHD was applied. The multi-factors were put in order according to their importance in effect: progressive reduction of cardiac function (age less than 30), sustained atrial fibrillation, recent changes in heart murmur or onset of a new murmur, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, speed-up of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and acute pulmonary edema (age less than 30). 310 cases of RHD were tested and verified by this formula, 85.5% of them were diagnosed correctly in comparison with Aschoff's bodies observed by pathological biopsies in left cardiac atrial appendages. All cases were operated and confirmed by pathological examination. The presence of Aschoff's bodies in atrial appendages was considered the index of active rheumatism pathologically.

[Clinical applications of selective bronchial arteriography and bronchial artery infusion]

32 cases (94 times) of selective bronchial arteriography (BAG) and bronchial artery infusion (BAI) were reported. The arteriographic manifestations in several diseases and the relationship between the arteriographic features and histological types of bronchial carcinoma were described. The clinical applications of BAG and BAI were briefly discussed.
