Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to uncover the differential expression of circRNA_100395 in breast carcinoma specimens, and its regulatory effect on cancer cell phenotypes. The role of circRNA_100395 in affecting breast carcinoma progression and the molecular mechanism are explored as well. PATIENTS AND METHODS CircRNA_100395 expressions in breast carcinoma and paracancerous tissues were detected. The influence of circRNA_100395 level on clinical indicators of breast carcinoma patients was analyzed. In vitro regulations of circRNA_100395 on phenotypes of breast carcinoma cells were examined by CCK-8, colony formation, and transwell assay. The interaction between circRNA_100395 and MAPK6 was confirmed by Dual-Luciferase reporter assay and rescue assays. RESULTS CircRNA_100395 was downregulated in breast carcinoma tissues and cell lines. Its level was negatively correlated to tumor staging and tumor size of breast carcinoma. Overexpression of circRNA_100395 in SKBR3 and MDA-MB-231 cells weakened proliferative and migratory abilities. MAPK6 was the target gene of circRNA_100395. Overexpression of MAPK6 reversed the anti-cancer effect of circRNA_100395 on breast carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS CircRNA_100395 serves as an anti-cancer gene in breast carcinoma progression by targeting MAPK6, and its level is negatively correlated to tumor staging and tumor size of breast carcinoma. CircRNA_100395 can be utilized as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target of breast carcinoma.

Abstract
Heterosis refers to the superior performance of hybrid lines over inbred parental lines. Besides genetic variation, epigenetic differences between parental lines are suggested to contribute to heterosis. However, the precise nature and extent of differences between the parental epigenomes and the reprograming in hybrids that govern heterotic gene expression remain unclear. In this work, we analyzed DNA methylomes and transcriptomes of the widely cultivated and genetically studied elite hybrid rice (Oryza sativa) SY63, the reciprocal hybrid, and the parental varieties ZS97 and MH63, for which high-quality reference genomic sequences are available. We showed that the parental varieties displayed substantial variation in genic methylation at CG and CHG (H = A, C, or T) sequences. Compared with their parents, the hybrids displayed dynamic methylation variation during development. However, many parental differentially methylated regions (DMRs) at CG and CHG sites were maintained in the hybrid. Only a small fraction of the DMRs displayed non-additive DNA methylation variation, which, however, showed no overall correlation relationship with gene expression variation. In contrast, most of the allelic-specific expression (ASE) genes in the hybrid were associated with DNA methylation, and the ASE negatively associated with allelic-specific methylation (ASM) at CHG. These results revealed a specific DNA methylation reprogramming pattern in the hybrid rice and pointed to a role for parental CHG methylation divergence in ASE, which is associated with phenotype variation and hybrid vigor in several plant species.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate effect of Bimatoprost (BimP) on growth of reconstructed hair follicles in recipient nude mice. Methods: Primary epidermal and dermal cells were isolated from newborn C57BL/6J mice (1-day-old) skins, and the reconstructed hair follicles was implanted in the dorsal skin of Balb/c-nu nude mice using a silicon chamber protocol, then, the 18 nude mice were randomly divided into control group, BimP group and minoxidil group, with 6 mice in each group. After 2 weeks, topical treatment was applied to the grafted area of the nude mice by 2% minoxidil 100 μl, 0.03% BimP 100 μl and saline 100 μl, respectively, once daily for 2 weeks. At day 14 after treatment, the mice were euthanized to measure the length of dorsal hair, and the number and hair cycle of the reconstructed follicles was observed histologically. The total mRNA and proteins expression of Wnt3a, LEF1, β-catenin and Frizzled7 were determined by qPCR and Western Blotting. The distribution and expression of β-catenin in the reconstructed follicles was detected by immunofluorescence staining. Results: As compared to the control group, the BimP group had thicker and longer hair [(0.57±0.07) vs (0.36±0.05) cm, P<0.01], no significant difference was seen between the BimP and minoxidil group. The mRNA expression levels of Wnt3a (2.73±0.17 vs 1.00±0.14, P<0.01)、LEF1(1.71±0.12 vs 1.00±0.19, P<0.01)、β-catenin (2.37±0.21vs 1.00±0.11, P<0.01) and Frizzled7 (2.62±0.15vs 1.00±0.18, P<0.01) were significantly increased in BimP group compared with the control group. Western Blotting showed the same results, the protein expression levels of Wnt3a (1.44±0.21vs 1.00±0.13, P<0.05)、LEF1 (1.36±0.15 vs 1.00±0.09, P<0.05)、β-catenin (1.60±0.13 vs 1.00±0.16, P<0.01) and Frizzled7 (1.52±0.15 vs 1.00±0.21, P<0.05) in BimP group were higher than those in control group, and the difference was statistically significant. Immunofluorescence staining showed that β-catenin was strongly expressed in hair bulb cells and sebaceous gland cells of reconstructed hair follicles in BimP group and minoxidil group, whereas barely seen in the control group. Conclusion: BimP directly promotes growth of reconstructed hair follicles in mice by activating canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Abstract
Microcapsules encapsulated within epoxy as a curing agent have been successfully applied in self-healing materials, in which the healing performance significantly depends on the binding behaviour of the epoxy curing agent with the cement matrix. In this paper, the binding energy was investigated by molecular dynamics simulation, which could overcome the shortcomings of traditional microscopic experimental methods. In addition to the construction of different molecular models of epoxy, curing agents, and dilutants, seven models were established to investigate the effects of chain length, curing agent, and epoxy resin chain direction on the interfacial binding energy. The results showed that an increase of chain length exhibited had limited effect on the binding energy, while the curing agent and the direction of the epoxy significantly affected the interfacial binding energy. Among different factors, the curing agent tetrethylenepentamine exhibited the highest value of interfacial binding energy by an increment of 31.03 kcal/mol, indicating a better binding ability of the microcapsule core and the cement matrix. This study provides a microscopic insight into the interface behaviour between the microcapsule core and the cement matrix.

Abstract
Dendrobium viroid (DVd) was first reported in China in 2020, and it is the only viroid known to infect Orchidaceae family plants. In this study, we developed a simple reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method for the rapid detection of DVd in Dendrobium plants. When extracting the sap template from the leaves, they are first clamped between two layers of plastic film, and the sap is pressed out and collected with a pipette. Using this sap, DVd was detected by dot-blot and RT-PCR methods and, the expected amplicons were confirmed by sequencing analysis. The batch analysis of field samples revealed that this method can be used to detect DVd rapidly. The detection method also reduces cross-contamination between different samples and minimizes false positives. Thus, this sap-direct RT-PCR method allows effective and rapid DVd detection in the study of Orchidaceae plants.

Abstract
Compatibility, a critical issue between sensing material and host structure, significantly influences the detecting performance (e.g., sensitive, signal-to-noise ratio) of the embedded sensor. To address this issue in concrete-based infrastructural health monitoring, cement-based piezoelectric composites (piezoelectric ceramic particles as a function phase and cementitious materials as a matrix) have attracted continuous attention in the past two decades, dramatically exhibiting superior durability, sensitivity, and compatibility. This review paper performs a synthetical overview of recent advances in theoretical analysis, characterization and simulation, materials selection, the fabrication process, and application of the cement-based piezoelectric composites. The critical issues of each part are also presented. The influencing factors of the materials and fabrication process on the final performance of composites are further discussed. Meanwhile, the application of the composite as a sensing element for various monitoring techniques is summarized. Further study on the experiment and simulation, materials, fabrication technique, and application are also pointed out purposefully.

Abstract
Background Noninvasive methods for the early diagnosis and staging of hepatic fibrosis are needed. The present study aimed to investigate the alteration of magnetic susceptibility in the liver of patients with various fibrosis stages and to evaluate the feasibility of using susceptibility to stage hepatic fibrosis. Methods A total of 30 consecutive patients with chronic liver diseases (CLDs) underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and liver biopsy evaluation of hepatic fibrosis, necroinflammatory activity, iron load, and steatosis. Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), R2* and proton density fat fraction (PDFF) images were postprocessed from the same gradient-echo data for quantitative tissue characterization using region of interest (ROI) analysis. The differences for MRI measurements between cohorts of non-significant (Ishak-F <3) and significant fibrosis (Ishak-F ≥3) and the correlation of MRI measurements with fibrosis stages and necroinflammatory activity grades were tested. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was also performed. Results There was a significant difference in liver susceptibility between the cohorts of significant and non-significant fibrosis (Z=-2.880, P=0.004). A moderate negative correlation between the stages of liver fibrosis and liver susceptibility was observed (r=-0.471, P=0.015). Liver magnetic susceptibility differentiated non-significant from significant hepatic fibrosis with an area under the receiver operating curve (AUC) of 0.836 (P=0.004). A highly sensitive diagnostic performance with an AUC of 0.933 was obtained using magnetic susceptibility and PDFF together (P<0.001). Conclusions A noninvasive liver QSM-based evaluation promises an accurate assessment of significant fibrosis in patients with CLDs.

Abstract
Music is characterized by acoustic forms that are predictive of its behavioural functions. For example, adult listeners accurately identify unfamiliar lullabies as infant-directed on the basis of their musical features alone. This property could reflect a function of listeners' experiences, the basic design of the human mind, or both. Here, we show that US infants (N = 144) relax in response to eight unfamiliar foreign lullabies, relative to matched non-lullaby songs from other foreign societies, as indexed by heart rate, pupillometry and electrodermal activity. They do so consistently throughout the first year of life, suggesting that the response is not a function of their musical experiences, which are limited relative to those of adults. The infants' parents overwhelmingly chose lullabies as the songs that they would use to calm their fussy infant, despite their unfamiliarity. Together, these findings suggest that infants may be predisposed to respond to common features of lullabies found in different cultures.

Abstract
Apolipoprotein E is the most well-established genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. However, the associations of apolipoprotein E with tau pathology and cognition remain controversial. The research checks the hypothesis that the relationships between apolipoprotein E alleles and cerebrospinal fluid tau and cognition differ in persons with and without significant amyloid-β deposition. We divided 1119 subjects into cognitively normal (n = 275), mild cognitive impairment (n = 629), and Alzheimer's disease (n = 215), and these subjects were from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database. Linear regression models were used to compare the relationships of apolipoprotein E alleles with cerebrospinal fluid tau and cognition in persons with significant amyloid-β deposition relative to individuals without significant amyloid-β deposition. The associations of apolipoprotein E ε4 and ε3 with total tau (T-tau), phosphorylated tau (P-tau), and Alzheimer's disease assessment scale was significantly substantial among participants with significant amyloid-β deposition. Stratified analyses showed that apolipoprotein E ε4 related to increased concentrations of T-tau, P-tau, and Alzheimer's disease assessment scale and apolipoprotein E ε3 associated with decreased concentrations of T-tau, P-tau, and Alzheimer's disease assessment scale in mild cognitive impairment participants with significant amyloid-β deposition, but not in Alzheimer's disease. Our study shows that the presence of apolipoprotein E ε4 and ε3 alleles is related to tau pathology and cognitive impairment in the presence of amyloid-β in mild cognitive impairment, but not in Alzheimer's disease. This work indirectly provides additional evidence that apolipoprotein E and amyloid-β may not have a role in modulating clinical Alzheimer's disease, and apolipoprotein E ε3 may be supposed to be protective to mild cognitive impairment.

Abstract
Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon in which a subset of genes express dependent on the origin of their parents. In plants, it is unclear whether imprinted genes are conserved between subspecies in rice. Here we identified imprinted genes from embryo and endosperm 5-7 days after pollination from three pairs of reciprocal hybrids, including inter-subspecies, japonica intra-subspecies, and indica intra-subspecies reciprocal hybrids. A total of 914 imprinted genes, including 546 in inter-subspecies hybrids, 211 in japonica intra-subspecies hybrids, and 286 in indica intra-subspecies hybrids. In general, the number of maternally expressed genes (MEGs) is more than paternally expressed genes (PEGs). Moreover, imprinted genes tend to be in mini clusters. The number of shared genes by R9N (reciprocal crosses between 9311 and Nipponbare) and R9Z (reciprocal crosses between 9311 and Zhenshan 97), R9N and RZN (reciprocal crosses between Zhonghua11 and Nipponbare), R9Z and RZN was 72, 46, and 16. These genes frequently involved in energy metabolism and seed development. Five imprinted genes (Os01g0151700, Os07g0103100, Os10g0340600, Os11g0679700, and Os12g0632800) are commonly detected in all three pairs of reciprocal hybrids and were validated by RT-PCR sequencing. Gene editing of two imprinted genes revealed that both genes conferred grain filling. Moreover, 15 and 27 imprinted genes with diverse functions in rice were shared with Arabidopsis and maize, respectively. This study provided valuable resources for identification of imprinting genes in rice or even in cereals.

Abstract
Fear extinction is generally considered a form of new learning that inhibits previously acquired fear memories. Here, by tracking immediate early gene expression in vivo, we found that contextual fear extinction training evoked distinct neural ensembles in mouse retrosplenial cortex (RSC). The optogenetic reactivation of these extinction-activated neurons in the RSC was sufficient to suppress a fear response, while the reactivation of conditioning-activated neurons in the same area promoted a fear response. The generation of such an extinction-memory-related neural ensemble was associated with adult neurogenesis, as abolishing newborn neurons in the adult hippocampus via X-ray irradiation eliminated both the extinction-activated neurons in the RSC and the optogenetic-reactivation-induced suppression of contextual fear memory. Therefore, switching from fear to no fear in response to the same context is modulated by the RSC through an extinction-activated neural ensemble, the generation of which might require adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus.

Background
Depression is prevalent among patients with heart failure (HF), but data exploring association of depression with risk of death in patients with HF is scarce in China. We investigated the relationship between depression and all-cause mortality of heart failure in China.
Methods
In China PEACE 5p-HF Study, we prospectively enrolled patients primarily hospitalized with HF from 52 diverse hospitals throughout China during 2016–2018. All the patients were followed up for 1 year. About 10% patients in the cohort from 41 hospitals was included for the measurement of depression state at convenience. Depression was measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire-8 depression scale (PHQ-8) at baseline. Depression state was categorized into major depressive disorder (10–24 points), minor depression (5–10 points) and no depression (0–5 points). Cox proportional hazards regression analyses, controlling for established risk factors as age, gender, LVEF, NYHA, medication use and medical history, were used to evaluate how depression were related to end point of death from any cause.
Results
Total 584 patients were included in our analysis, with median age 69 (IQR 60–77) years, and 40.8% female. Among these patients, 36.0% had major depressive disorder (n=210), 33.9% had minor depression (n=198). There were 70 (12%) patients died within 1 year after discharge. Major depressive disorder was associated with higher all-cause mortality compared with no depression (hazard ratio=2.18, 95% confidence interval 1.36–3.50, p=0.001). While minor depression was not significantly associated with all-cause mortality.
Conclusions
Major depression is an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality in hospitalized patients with HF in China. It is necessary to screen for psychological health in hospitalized patients to targeting intervention.

Whether discharge heart rate for hospitalized heart failure (HF) patients with coexisted atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with long-term clinical outcomes and whether this association differs between patients with and without beta-blockers have not been well studied.
Purpose
We investigated the associations between discharge heart rate and clinical outcomes in hospitalized HF patients with coexisted AF, while stratified to beta-blockers at discharge.
Methods
The study cohort included 1631 HF patients hospitalized primarily with AF, which was from the China PEACE Prospective Heart Failure Study. Clinical outcome was 1-year combined all-cause mortality and HF hospitalization after discharge. We analyzed association between outcome and heart rate at discharge with restricted cubic spline and Cox proportional hazard ratios (HR).
Results
The median age was 68 (IQR: 60- 77) years, 41.9% were women, discharge heart rate was (median (IQR)) 75 (69- 84) beats per minute (bpm), and 60.2% received beta-blockers at discharge. According to the result of restricted cubic spline plot, the relationship between discharge heart rate and clinical outcome may be nonlinear (P<0.01). Based on above result, these patients were divided into 3 groups: lowest <65 bpm, middle 65–86 bpm and highest ≥87 bpm, clinical outcomes occurred in 128 (64.32%), 624 (53.42%) and 156 (59.32%) patients in the lowest, middle, and highest groups respectively. In the Cox proportional hazard analysis, the lowest and highest groups were associated with increased risks of clinical outcome compared with the middle group (HR: 1.289, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.056 - 1.573, p=0.013; HR: 1.276, 95% CI: 1.06 - 1.537, p=0.01, respectively). And a significant interaction between discharge heart rate and beta-blocker use was observed (P<0.001 for interaction). Stratified analysis showed the lowest group was associated with increased risks of clinical outcomes in patients with beta-blockers (HR: 1.584, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.215–2.066, p=0.001).
Conclusion
There may be a U-curve relationship between discharge heart rate and clinical outcomes in hospitalized HF patients with coexisted AF. They may have the best clinical outcomes with heart rates of 65 - 86 bpm. And strict heart rate control (<65 bpm) may be avoided for patients who discharge with beta-blockers.

Abstract
Plant genomes contain both protein-coding and noncoding sequences including transposable elements (TEs) and noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). The ncRNAs are recognized as important elements that play fundamental roles in the structural organization and function of plant genomes. Despite various hypotheses, TEs are believed to be a major precursor of ncRNAs. Transposable elements are also prime factors that cause genomic variation among members of a species. Hence, TEs pose a major challenge in the discovery and analysis of ncRNAs. With the increase in the number of sequenced plant genomes, it is now accepted that a single reference genome is insufficient to represent the complete genomic diversity and contents of a species, and exploring the pan-genome of a species is critical. In this review, we summarize the recent progress in the field of plant pan-genomes. We also discuss TEs and their roles in ncRNA biogenesis and present our perspectives on the application of pan-genomes for the discovery of ncRNAs to fully explore and exploit their biological roles in plants.

Background
Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity. Beta-blocker is recommended in HF with reduced ejection fraction (EF) in order to improve clinical outcomes. While the effects of beta-blockers in HF who have an EF greater than 40% are uncertain and controversial yet.
Purpose
To Investigate the associations between beta-blockers and clinical outcomes, overall and in strata of patients with an EF of between 40% and 49% or greater than 50%.
Methods
The study cohort included 2642 HF patients hospitalized primarily for HF who had an EF greater than 40%, which was from the China PEACE Prospective Heart Failure Study. We had two Clinical outcomes: 1-year all-cause mortality and 1-year hospitalization for HF after discharge. The associations between beta-blockers and clinical outcomes were assessed using Cox proportional hazard regression models, while stratified according to EF.
Results
The median age was 70 (IQR: 61, 77) years, 44.8% were women, EF was (median (IQR)) 54% (46%, 62%), and 55.5% received beta-blockers at discharge. All-cause mortality and hospitalizations for HF occurred in 341 (12.91%) and 636 (24.07%) patients respectively. In the Cox proportional hazard analysis, a significant interaction between EF and beta-blocker use for mortality was observed (P=0.01 for interaction). Stratified analysis showed beta-blockers reduced risks of mortality in patients who had an EF between 40% and 49% ((hazard ratios (HR): 0.501, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.340- 0.738, p<0.001), but not among patients with an EF of 50% or greater (HR: 0.824, 95% CI: 0.600- 1.133, p=0.233). Use of β-blockers was not associated with reduced hospitalizations in patients with EF of between 40% and 49% and greater than 50% (HR: 1.016, 95% CI: 0.712- 1.450, p=0.931; HR: 0.905, 95% CI: 0.703- 1.166, p=0.439, respectively).
Conclusion
For patients with an EF between 40% and 49%, β-blocker use was associated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality but not HF hospitalizations. For patients with an EF of 50% or greater, there was no such association.

Results
The median age was 68 (IQR: 60- 77) years, 41.9% were women, discharge heart rate was (median (IQR)) 75 (69- 84) beats per minute (bpm), and 60.2% received beta-blockers at discharge. Stratified analysis showed beta-blocker prescription at discharge was associated with reduced risk for clinical outcomes in patients with high heart rates (hazard ratio 0.336, 95% CI: 0.144–0.786, p=0.012) but not in those with lowest and middle heart rates (hazard ratio: 1.32; 95% CI, 0.95–1.63; hazard ratio: 1.02; 95% CI, 0.68–1.55, respectively).
Conclusion
The associations between beta-blockers and clinical outcomes may be significantly influenced by baseline heart rate. Hospitalized HF patients with AF benefit the most from beta-blockers use if they had high heart rate (≥87 bpm) at discharge.

Abstract
Microcapsule based self-healing concrete can automatically repair damage and improve the durability of concrete structures, the performance of which depends on the binding behavior between the microcapsule wall and cement matrix. However, conventional experimental methods could not provide detailed information on a microscopic level. In this paper, through molecular dynamics simulation, three composite models of Tobermorite (Tobermorite 9 Å, Tobermorite 11 Å, Tobermorite 14 Å), a mineral similar to Calcium-Silicate-Hydrate (C-S-H) gel, with the linear urea-formaldehyde (UF), the shell of the microcapsule, were established to investigate the mechanical properties and interface binding behaviour of the Tobermorite/UF composite. The results showed that the Young's modulus, shear modulus and bulk modulus of Tobermorite/UF were lower than that of 'pure' Tobermorite, whereas the tensile strength and failure strain of Tobermorite/UF were higher than that of 'pure' Tobermorite. Moreover, through radial distribution function (RDF) analysis, the connection between Tobermorite and UF found a strong interaction between Ca, N, and O, whereas Si from Tobermorite and N from UF did not contribute to the interface binding strength. Finally, high binding energy between the Tobermorite and UF was observed. The research results should provide insights into the interface behavior between the microcapsule wall and the cement matrix.

Abstract
Chloride-induced steel corrosion is the most concerning issue for the durability of concrete structures. Concrete and steel samples were obtained from a 30-year-old reinforced concrete bridge. The chloride content was measured by a potentiometric titration method and the microstructure of concrete was obtained by scanning electron microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry. The rust phases of the steel were detected by X-ray diffraction and Raman analysis. It was found that the convection depth for chloride transport in cracked concrete was significantly larger than that in uncracked concrete. The concrete in a pier column facing upstream had greater porosity due to the water impact and calcium leaching. The coefficients of variability of chloride diffusivity of concrete for the bridge deck and the pier column were significantly different. Rust phases including lepidocrocite, goethite, akaganeite, magnetite, and maghemite were detected using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The major phases of steel rust in the atmospheric zone were lepidocrocite and goethite, while they were lepidocrocite and maghemite in the tidal zone. The results of this study would provide information concerning the chloride-induced steel corrosion under a marine environment in order to predict long-term behaviors of a reinforced concrete structure.

Abstract
Through long term natural and artificial selection, domestic sheep (Ovis aries) have become adapted to a diverse range of agro-ecological environments and display multiple phenotypic traits. Characterization of diversity and selection signature is essential for genetic improvement, understanding of environmental adaptation, as well as utilization and conservation of sheep genetic resources. Here, we aimed to assess genomic diversity, population structure, and genomic selection among five Chinese native sheep breeds using 600K high density SNP genotypes. A total of 96 animals of the five breeds were selected from different geographical locations with extremely dry or humid conditions. We found a high proportion of informative SNPs, ranging from 93.3% in Yabuyi to 95.5% in Wadi, Hu, and Hetian sheep. The average pairwise population differentiation (FST) between the breeds was 0.048%, ranging from 0.022% to 0.054%, indicating their low to moderate differentiation. PCA, ADMIXTURE, and phylogenetic tree analyses revealed a clustering pattern of the five Chinese sheep breeds according to their geographical distribution, tail type, coat color, body size, and breeding history. The genomic regions under putative selection identified by FST and XP-EHH approaches frequently overlapped across the breeds, and spanned genes associated with adaptation to extremely dry or humid environments, innate and adaptive immune responses, and growth, wool, milk, and reproduction traits. The present study offers novel insight into genomic adaptation to dry and humid climates in sheep among other domestic animals and provides a valuable resource for further investigation. Moreover, it contributes useful information to sustainable utilization and conservation of sheep genetic resources.

Abstract
This paper proposes a novel output-only structural damage indicator by incorporating the pole-based optimal subpattern assignment distance with autoregressive models to localize and relatively assess the severity of damages for sheared structures. Autoregressive models can model dynamic systems well, while their model poles can represent the state of the dynamic systems. Structural damage generally causes changes in the dynamic characteristics (especially the natural frequency, mode shapes and damping ratio) of structures. Since the poles of the autoregressive models can solve the modal parameters of the structure, the poles have a close relationship with the modal parameters so that the changes in the poles of its autoregressive model reflect structural damages. Therefore, we can identify the damage by tracking the shifts in the dynamic system poles. The optimal subpattern assignment distance, which is the performance evaluator in multi-target tracking algorithms to measure the metric between true and estimated tracks, enables the construction of damage sensitive indicator from system poles using the Hungarian algorithm. The proposed approach has been validated with a five-story shear-building using numerical simulations and experimental verifications, which are subjected to excitations of white noise, El Centro earthquake and sinusoidal wave with frequencies sweeping, respectively; the results indicate that this approach can localize and quantify structural damages effectively in an output-only and data-driven way.

Abstract
We previously discovered that Xiaozhang Tie (XZT) was helpful for cirrhotic ascites, with obvious abdominal distention relief, suggesting that it may improve gastrointestinal (GI) motility. However, the underlying mechanisms of GI motility in cirrhotic ascites are unclear. Here, we aimed to discover explored the effect of XZT on GI motility in animal cirrhotic ascites and probed the action mechanism affecting GI motility by regulating the stem cell factor (SCF)/c-kit pathway in interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) and GI hormones. First, rat models of cirrhotic ascites were developed and then divided randomly into the following three subgroups: model control, XZT group, and mosapride group. The efficacy of XZT on treating cirrhotic ascites was evaluated on the basis of ascites weight and volume, 24 h urine volume, and feces water content. GI motility of the cirrhotic model, intestine propulsion, and gastric residue were detected using the migration distance of ink in vivo, and the frequency of contraction and tension of isolated gastric and jejunal muscle strips were measured after incubation with XZT extracts. Serum GI hormone content, including motilin (MTL), substance P (SP), somatostatin (SS), and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide were assayed. Subsequently, ICCs were isolated from jejunum, and primarily cultured ICCs were incubated with and without XZT and SCF. The cell vitality of the ICCs was measured. A whole-cell patch recording technique was used to record the current of K+ and Na+ channels in the ICC membrane. Expressions of c-kit/p-c-kit, p-Akt, p-STAT3, and p-Erk1/2 were detected in vivo and in vitro. The results revealed that XZT significantly reduced ascites weight and increased urine volume and fecal water content in model rats. XZT promoted intestinal motility and increased MTL level but reduced SP and SS levels. It enhanced the current of Na+ and K+ in ICCs and improved c-kit expression and signaling mediator phosphorylation in SCF/c-kit, which was inhibited by imatinib in vitro and downregulated in model rats in vivo. Our study concluded that XZT reduced the amount of ascites and improved intestinal motility in cirrhotic rats, which may be associated with its effect on ascites and was involved in the mechanisms regulating the SCF/c-kit signaling pathway in ICCs and improving gastrointestinal hormone secretion.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of terlipressin on refractory ascites (RA) in cirrhosis, and its role and impact on acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods: A non-randomized controlled clinical trial data of 111 hospitalized cases of liver cirrhosis accompanied with RA was collected from Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhongshan Hospital of Hubei Province, The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, The First Affiliated Hospital of Medical School of Zhejiang University, and People's Hospital of Pudong New Area of Shanghai between March 2015 and March 2017. 26 cases of conventional treatment group (control group) were divided into two subgroups: RA without AKI (RA-NAKI) and RA with AKI (RA-AKI), and each subgroup consisted 13 cases. Patients with bacterial infection were treated with diuretics, albumin supplementation and antibiotics. 85 cases were presented in terlipressin combined treatment group, of which 27 cases were of RA-NAKI and 58 cases were of RA-AKI. Control group was injected terlipressin 1mg of intravenous drip or static push (once q6 h ~ 12 h) for more than 5 days. The treatment duration lasted for 2 weeks with 4 weeks of follow-up. Body weight, 24-hour urine volume, abdominal circumference, mean arterial pressure (MAP), liver and kidney function, anterior hepatic ascites, deepest point of ascites, and ultrasonographic detection of ascites in supine position before treatment, one and two weeks after treatment and 4 weeks after follow-up were compared. Count data were tested by χ (2). Samples of four groups at baseline were compared. One-way analysis of variance was used for normal distribution data and Kruskal-Wallis H test for non-normal distribution data. Repeated measures analysis of variance was used to compare the difference in efficacy between different time points before and after treatment in the group. The LSD method of one-way ANOVA was used to compare the two groups. A t-test of independent samples was used to compare the efficacy of different time series between the two groups. Mann-Whitney rank- sum test was used to compare the data of non-normal distribution between the two groups. Results: (1) Baseline data were compared among 4 subgroups of terlipressin RA-NAKI and control RA-AKI. Control group age was higher than that of terlipressin group, and the serum creatinine (SCr) of the RA-AKI group was higher than RA-NAKI group, and there was no significant difference in the rest of the baseline data and the combined medication (P > 0.05). (2) An intra-group comparison between control and trelipressin before and after treatment showed that all patients had lower body mass, abdominal circumference and deepest ascites, and higher serum albumin (P < 0.05). 24-hour urine volume and MAP was significantly increased in the terlipressin group, while the pre-ascites, SCr and child Turcotte Pugh (CTP) scores were decreased. Body weight, abdominal circumference, pre-ascites, and deepest ascites of the terlipressin group were decreased, while MAP was increased during the treatment and follow-up periods. The differences were statistically significant when compared with the control group at the same time (P < 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the increase of 24-h urine volume in the terlipressin group compared with the control group (P < 0.05). The decrease in SCr and CTP in the terlipressin group after 2 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up was statistically significant compared with the control group (P < 0.05). (3) Among the two subgroups of RA-AKI and RA-NAKI in the terlipressin group, the baseline SCr value of the former was higher than that of the latter. After treatment, the body weight, abdominal circumference, pre-ascites, deepest ascites and CTP scores were decreased. In the RA-AKI group, 24-hour urine volume, MAP, SCr and serum albumin concentration were significantly increased. The difference between the two subgroups before and after treatment was compared, and the body weight of RA-AKI group at 1, 2 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up was significantly lower than RA-NAKI group, which were (- 2.3 ± 0.2 vs. - 1.5 ± 0.2) kg, (- 4.1 ± 0.2 vs. - 2.6 ± 0.2) kg, (- 4.2 ± 0.3 vs. - 2.4 ± 0.3) kg, respectively. RA-NAKI group urine volume was significantly increased at 2 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up, which was (468 ± 42 vs. 110 ± 131) ml, (272 ± 34 ml vs. 11 ± 112) ml, respectively. SCr reduction (18.3 ± 4.7 vs. 0.9 ± 2.4) µmol/l at 4 weeks of follow-up was apparent in RA-NAKI group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Addition of terlipressin to conventional treatment may significantly increase MAP, 24-h urine volume, improve renal function and promote ascites resolution in patients with refractory cirrhotic ascites. Moreover, its combination effect is more obvious in AKI patients, and adverse reactions are mild.

Abstract
This paper evaluated the effect of graphene oxide/graphene (GO/GR) hybrid on mechanical properties of cement mortar. The underlying mechanism was also investigated. In the GO/GR hybrid, GO was expected to act as a dispersant for GR while GR was used as reinforcement in mortar due to its excellent mechanical properties. For the mortar specimen, flexural and compressive strength were measured at varied GO to GR ratios of 1:0, 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, and 0:1 by keeping the total amount of GO and GR constant. The underlying mechanism was investigated through the dispersibility of GR, heat releasing characteristics during hydration, and porosity of mortar. The results showed that GO/GR hybrid significantly enhanced the flexural and compressive strength of cement mortars. The flexural strength reached maximum at GO:GR = 1:1, where the enhancement level was up to 23.04% (28 days) when compared to mortar prepared with only GO, and up to 15.63% (7 days) when compared to mortar prepared with only GR. In terms of compressive strength, the enhancement level for GO:GR = 3:1 was up to 21.10% (3 days) when compared with that of mortar incorporating GO only. The enhancement in compressive strength with mortar at GO:GR = 1:1 was up to 14.69% (7-day) when compared with mortar incorporating GR only. In addition to dispersibility, the compressive strength was also influenced by other factors, such as the degree of hydration, porosity, and pore size distribution of mortar, which made the mortars perform best at different ages.

Abstract
Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been used as a dual-functional material in a hybrid intervention system (ICCP-SS) which integrates the impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) and structural strengthening (SS). The mechanical behavior of CFRP as an anode has been investigated in some solution environments. However, the anodic and mechanical behavior of CFRP bonded to concrete is unclear. This paper focuses on the anodic and mechanical performance of CFRP bonded to the chloride-contaminated concrete by conducting an electrochemical (EC) test. The method of bonding the CFRP to the concrete and the shape of the steel embedded in the concrete were considered. The current densities of 20 mA/m2 and 100 mA/m2 were applied during 120-day and 310-day EC tests. The electrode potentials and driving voltages were recorded, and the bond interfaces of the CFRP were inspected after EC test. The residual tensile strength and failure modes of the CFRP were analyzed after tensile tests. Finally, the long-term performance of CFRP as a dual-functional material in ICCP-SS system was discussed. Results show that the externally bonding CFRP in ICCP-SS system can not only protect the steel in chloride-contaminated concrete effectively but also maintain 70% of the original tensile strength of CFRP at a charge density of 744 A·h/m2. The expected service period of CFRP as a dual-functional material bonded to the chloride-contaminated concrete was determined to be more than 42.5 years.

Abstract
We previously discovered that Xiaozhang Tie (XZT) was helpful for cirrhotic ascites, with obvious abdominal distention relief, suggesting that it may improve gastrointestinal (GI) motility. However, the underlying mechanisms of GI motility in cirrhotic ascites are unclear. Here, we aimed to discover explored the effect of XZT on GI motility in animal cirrhotic ascites and probed the action mechanism affecting GI motility by regulating the stem cell factor (SCF)/c-kit pathway in interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) and GI hormones. First, rat models of cirrhotic ascites were developed and then divided randomly into the following three subgroups: model control, XZT group, and mosapride group. The efficacy of XZT on treating cirrhotic ascites was evaluated on the basis of ascites weight and volume, 24 h urine volume, and feces water content. GI motility of the cirrhotic model, intestine propulsion, and gastric residue were detected using the migration distance of ink in vivo, and the frequency of contraction and tension of isolated gastric and jejunal muscle strips were measured after incubation with XZT extracts. Serum GI hormone content, including motilin (MTL), substance P (SP), somatostatin (SS), and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide were assayed. Subsequently, ICCs were isolated from jejunum, and primarily cultured ICCs were incubated with and without XZT and SCF. The cell vitality of the ICCs was measured. A whole-cell patch recording technique was used to record the current of K+ and Na+ channels in the ICC membrane. Expressions of c-kit/p-c-kit, p-Akt, p-STAT3, and p-Erk1/2 were detected in vivo and in vitro. The results revealed that XZT significantly reduced ascites weight and increased urine volume and fecal water content in model rats. XZT promoted intestinal motility and increased MTL level but reduced SP and SS levels. It enhanced the current of Na+ and K+ in ICCs and improved c-kit expression and signaling mediator phosphorylation in SCF/c-kit, which was inhibited by imatinib in vitro and downregulated in model rats in vivo. Our study concluded that XZT reduced the amount of ascites and improved intestinal motility in cirrhotic rats, which may be associated with its effect on ascites and was involved in the mechanisms regulating the SCF/c-kit signaling pathway in ICCs and improving gastrointestinal hormone secretion.

Abstract
K-A-S-H (K2O-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O) gel is a key phase that forms in most alkali-activated binders (eco-friendly binders which utilize a substantial amount of industrial by-product). An in-depth understanding of the microstructure and performance of this nano-sized key phase facilitates better application to alkali-activated binders. However, such studies remain little and undetailed. Therefore, our research aims to provide insights into the microstructure of K-A-S-H particles synthesized with accurate stoichiometric control by the hydrothermal method through thermogravimetric analysis (TG), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and BET surface area. The results show that for materials prepared at the curing temperature lower than 80 °C, the K-A-S-H products were completely amorphous. With increased curing temperature and time, the K-A-S-H products were transformed from the amorphous phase to the crystalline zeolite phase structure, with a reduction in the specific surface area. The TG results indicate that the crystalline phase contains more non-evaporated water or zeolite water for structural rearrangement. The degree of tetrahedral polymerization slightly decreased with an increase of the K2O/SiO2 ratio as the amount of non-bridged oxygen atoms increased, whereas it gradually increased with an increase of curing temperature and time, as suggested by the FTIR and NMR results. Various K2O/SiO2 ratios resulted in the formation of zeolite K-H and K-G zeolite, both of which exhibited highly polymerized three-dimensional network structures. However, there was no significant effect of the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio on the structure of K-A-S-H products. Overall, these results provide insight into understanding the chemical stability of K-A-S-H.

Abstract
Corrosion is a challenging problem for marine concrete infrastructure projects. In this study, an intelligent OH−-regulated microcapsule is designed to prevent reinforcement corrosion, taking ethylcellulose (EC) as shell material and calcium oxide (CaO) as core material. X-ray computed tomography (XCT) is used to trace and contrast the corrosion profiles of the concrete reinforcement bar with and without the microcapsule. The results show that the OH−-regulated microcapsule exhibits effective corrosion protection by delaying corrosion initiation and cracking. An SEM study revealed that the microcapsule could be broken as Cl− invades the concrete. However, intelligent OH− regulation was realized by releasing CaO.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The availability of thousands of complete rice genome sequences from diverse varieties and accessions has laid the foundation for in-depth exploration of the rice genome. One drawback to these collections is that most of these rice varieties have long life cycles, and/or low transformation efficiencies, which limits their usefulness as model organisms for functional genomics studies. In contrast, the rice variety Kitaake has a rapid life cycle (9 weeks seed to seed) and is easy to transform and propagate. For these reasons, Kitaake has emerged as a model for studies of diverse monocotyledonous species. RESULTS Here, we report the de novo genome sequencing and analysis of Oryza sativa ssp. japonica variety KitaakeX, a Kitaake plant carrying the rice XA21 immune receptor. Our KitaakeX sequence assembly contains 377.6 Mb, consisting of 33 scaffolds (476 contigs) with a contig N50 of 1.4 Mb. Complementing the assembly are detailed gene annotations of 35,594 protein coding genes. We identified 331,335 genomic variations between KitaakeX and Nipponbare (ssp. japonica), and 2,785,991 variations between KitaakeX and Zhenshan97 (ssp. indica). We also compared Kitaake resequencing reads to the KitaakeX assembly and identified 219 small variations. The high-quality genome of the model rice plant KitaakeX will accelerate rice functional genomics. CONCLUSIONS The high quality, de novo assembly of the KitaakeX genome will serve as a useful reference genome for rice and will accelerate functional genomics studies of rice and other species.

Abstract
Efforts to develop microcapsules that respond to different stimuli derive from the incorporation of multiple dynamic assemblies of diverse functional species to the capsule shells. However, this usually involves complicated preparation processes that ultimately hinder the integration of multiple functionalities in a single material. This is addressed in the present work by proposing a multilevel interfacial assembly approach involving polymeric complexes that facilitate the fabrication of multistimuli-responsive microcapsules based on one-step Pickering emulsification using oppositely charged polycation-graphene oxide (GO) and polyanion-surfactant complexes prepared in immiscible liquid solutions. The complexes initially stabilize the emulsion based on electrostatic interactions. Subsequently, the highly dynamic bonding between the polymeric complexes facilitates the rearrangement of components at the oil/water interface to form a continuous interfacial shell membrane. The integrity of the microcapsule shells is sensitive to near-infrared irradiation owing to the GO component and is also sensitive to NaCl content because the assemblies between nanoparticles and polyelectrolytes are bonded through electrostatic interactions. The generality of the proposed strategy is demonstrated by the interfacial assembly of polycation-Fe3O4 complexes and polyanion-surfactant complexes. The resulting microcapsules exhibit salt responsiveness, pH responsiveness, and the ability to be positioned controllably by the application of an external magnetic field. This work provides a promising approach for the preparation of multistimuli-responsive microcapsules.

Abstract
Controlled release of hydrophobic agents from salt-responsive capsules is hindered by the hydrophilic shell and interfacial tension between inner oil and surrounding water. Rupturing shells in salt solution is another effective way. However, the densely entangled polyelectrolytes (PEs) in shells determined that the rupture requires extremely high ion-strength. Herein, salt-responsive capsules with double-network shells including a continuous PE-nanocrystal network and interfacial ion pairs are proposed and revealed via a one-step interfacial multilevel and multicomponent assembly (IMMA) method. Rigid nanocrystals can weaken the entanglements of PE chains and reduce the critical salt-concentration. Interfacial ion pairs are responsible for maintaining the stability of the shells. Such double networks enable the disintegration of capsules in an applicable salt-concentration without damaging the stability of capsules. In addition, hydrophobic domains assemblied by surfactants and PE-nanocrystal network supply transport pathway for oil to across hydrophilic shells and subsequently produce inverse micelle to carry oil into water. The mechanism of formation and release of capsules is systematically investigated, which further demonstrates IMMA to be a typical method for creation of sophisticated structures in a brief way.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Traditional Chinese medicine boasts a 440-year-long history of treating refractory ascites via combinations of herbal medicines, called formulae. Xiaozhang Tie (XT) is a proprietary herbal-compound-based formula that has been proven to be very effective in the treatment of cirrhosis-associated ascites in clinical practice, but the mechanism of action of XT remains unknown. AIM OF THE STUDY In this study, we used a metabolomics-based systematic method to elucidate the mechanism of XT in the treatment of cirrhotic ascites. METHODS Decompensated liver cirrhosis was induced in rats by intraperitoneal injection of Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Ultra performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) combined with pattern recognition approaches were used to determine differentiating metabolites relevant to XT treatment. Biomarkers were further validated by a targeted quantitative method and by the results from serum and urine analyses. Pathway analysis and correlation network construction were used to reveal the therapeutic targets associated with XT treatment, and the potential mechanisms were verified by the results from biochemical, histopathological and immunohistochemical assays. RESULTS XT synergistically mediated the abnormalities of amino acid metabolic pathways in cirrhotic rats. XT significantly elevated the arginine levels, reduced the serum nitric oxide (NO) levels and alleviated the gastrointestinal motility disorder of cirrhotic rats. This effect of XT has been confirmed by the inhibition of the activities of inducible NO synthase and neuronal NO synthase in the small intestine. CONCLUSIONS These results reveal that XT promotes gastrointestinal motility by acting on multiple targets in multiple pathways, of which the L-arginine/NO pathway is most affected.

Abstract
Background Wogonin (5,7-dihydroxy-8-methoxyflavone), one of flavonoids isolated from the Scutellaria baicalensis, has been regarded as an anticancer candidate because of its maximal efficacy in cancer cells. This study aimed to explore the possible mechanism that wogonin uses to enhance the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin chemotherapy. Material/Methods The growth inhibition rates of ovarian cancer cells SKOV3/DDP and C13* were assessed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. The apoptosis was assessed under a fluorescence microscope following staining with Hoechst. We further analyzed the expression of Bcl-2, cleaved caspases-3, cleaved-PARP, and phospho-Akt by western blotting. Results In the present study, we found that wogonin reduced proliferation of ovarian cancer cells SKOV3, SKOV3/DDP, OV2008, and C13* in dose- and time-dependent manners and it sensitized cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity. Moreover, treatment with wogonin also increased cisplatin-resistant SKOV3/DDP and C13* cells to low dose cisplatin-induced cell apoptosis. Additionally, such treatment resulted in a significant decrease in phosphorylated Akt. Conclusions Wogonin could significantly increase the sensitivity of cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin by downregulating the PI3K/Akt pathway.

Summary
Since the idea of pan-genomics emerged several tools and pipelines have been introduced for prokaryotic pan-genomics. However, not a single comprehensive pipeline has been reported which could overcome multiple challenges associated with eukaryotic pan-genomics. To aid the eukaryotic pan-genomic studies, here we present ppsPCP pipeline which is designed for eukaryotes especially for plants. It is capable of scanning presence/absence variants (PAVs) and constructing a fully annotated pan-genome. We believe with these unique features of PAV scanning and building a pan-genome together with its annotation, ppsPCP will be useful for plant pan-genomic studies and aid researchers to study genetic/phenotypic variations and genomic diversity.

Abstract
Emergence of Dengue as one of the deadliest viral diseases prompts the need for development of effective therapeutic agents. Dengue virus (DV) exists in four different serotypes and infection caused by one serotype predisposes its host to another DV serotype heterotypic re-infection. We undertook virtual ligand screening (VLS) to filter compounds against DV that may inhibit inclusively all of its serotypes. Conserved non-structural DV protein targets such as NS1, NS3/NS2B and NS5, which play crucial role in viral replication, infection cycle and host interaction, were selected for screening of vital antiviral drug leads. A dataset of plant based natural antiviral derivatives was developed. Molecular docking was performed to estimate the spatial affinity of target compounds for the active sites of DV’s NS1, NS3/NS2B and NS5 proteins. The drug likeliness of the screened compounds was followed by ADMET analysis whereas the binding behaviors were further elucidated through molecular dynamics (MD) simulation experiments. VLS screened three potential compounds including Canthin-6-one 9-O-beta-glucopyranoside, Kushenol W and Kushenol K which exhibited optimal binding with all the three conserved DV proteins. This study brings forth novel scaffolds against DV serotypes to serve as lead molecules for further optimization and drug development against all DV serotypes with equal effect against multiple disease causing DV proteins. We therefore anticipate that the insights given in the current study could be regarded valuable towards exploration and development of a broad-spectrum natural anti-dengue therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The prediction of treatment response is important in planning and modifying the chemoradiation therapy regimen. This study aimed to explore the quantitative histogram indices for treatment-response prediction of nasopharyngeal carcinoma based on diffusional kurtosis imaging compared with a standard ADC value (ADCstandard). MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-six patients with an initial diagnosis of locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma and diffusional kurtosis imaging acquisitions before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were enrolled. Patients were divided into respond-versus-nonrespond groups after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and residual-versus-nonresidual groups after radiation therapy. Histogram parameters of diffusional kurtosis imaging-derived parameters (ADC, ADC coefficient corrected by the non-Gaussain model [D], apparent kurtosis coefficient without a unit [K]) were calculated. The ADCstandard was calculated on the basis of intravoxel incoherent movement data. The intraclass correlation coefficient, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Student t test or Mann-Whitney U test, and receiver operating characteristic analysis were performed. RESULTS Most of the parameters had good-to-excellent consistency (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.675-0.998). The pre-ADCstandard, pre-ADC (10th, 25th, 50th percentiles), pre-D (10th, 25th, 50th percentiles), and pre-K50th were significantly different between the respond and nonrespond groups, while the pre-ADC10th, pre-K90th, post-ADC50th, post-K75th, post-K90th, and the percentage change of parameters before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (▵ADC50th%) were significantly different between the residual and nonresidual groups (all P < .05). Receiver operating characteristic analysis indicated that setting pre-D50th = 0.875 × 10-3mm2/s as the cutoff value could result in optimal diagnostic performance for neoadjuvant chemotherapy response prediction (area under the curve = 0.814, sensitivity = 0.70, specificity = 0.92), while the post-K90th = 1.035 (area under the curve = 0.829, sensitivity = 0.78, specificity = 0.72), and▵ADC50th% = 0.253 (area under the curve = 0.833, sensitivity = 0.94, specificity = 0.72) were optimal for radiation therapy response prediction. CONCLUSIONS Histogram analysis of diffusional kurtosis imaging may potentially predict the neoadjuvant chemotherapy and short-term radiation therapy response in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma, therefore providing evidence for modification of the treatment regimen.

Abstract
This research attempted to develop an environmentally-friendly functional building mortar by the combined use of agriculture wastes (agro-wastes) and construction wastes in magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC). The agro-wastes referred to corn stalk (CS) and saw dust (SD), which were used to improve the flexural properties of host cementitious material, whilst the construction wastes referred to recycled clay brick powder (CBP), which was employed to enhance compressive strength and water resistance. Moreover, tourmaline powder (TP) was added as a negative ion-inducing admixture, at a fixed dosage of 10% by weight of MgO, to bestow air-improving functions on the end products. Results showed the flexural strength of MOC was enhanced by the addition of CS and SD. Besides, the incorporation of CBP improved the water resistance in a dosage-dependent way. In addition, the specimens containing CS and SD also had better negative ion-inducing performance due to their higher porosity. Overall, the study provided a feasible and attractive approach to recycle agro- and construction wastes for the production of air purifying mortar. The developed mortar possesses an eco-friendly nature (simultaneous reuse of various waste materials and improvement of the air quality).

Abstract
Unconventional prefoldin RPB5 interactor (URI, or RMP, a member of the prefoldin family of molecular chaperones) exhibits oncogenic activity in several types of cancer, including ovarian cancer. However, the underlying regulatory mechanism in ovarian cancer remains unclear. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) negatively regulate gene expression, and their dysregulation has been implicated in tumorigenesis. To elucidate the role of miRNAs in URI-induced ovarian cancer, miR-598 and URI were overexpressed in the SKOV3 ovarian cancer cell line. The CCK8 kit was used to determine cell proliferation, and the Transwell assay was used to measure cell invasion and migration. RT-PCR and western blotting were used to analyze the expression of miR-598 and URI, and the luciferase reporter assay was used to examine the interaction between miR-598 and URI. Nude mice were used to characterize the regulation of tumor growth in vivo. The results showed that the expression of miR-598 inhibited the proliferation, invasion, and migration of ovarian cancer cells by targeting URI. The inhibitory effect of miR-598 was reversed by overexpression of URI. The luciferase reporter assay showed that miR-598 downregulated URI by directly targeting the 3′ UTR of URI. In vivo studies showed that the expression of miR-598 significantly inhibited the growth of tumors. Taken together, the results suggested that miR-598 inhibited tumor growth and metastasis by targeting URI.

Abstract
Background Accumulating studies have demonstrated that high-mobility group A2 (HMGA2), an oncofetal protein, plays a role in tumor development and progression. However, the molecular role of HMGA2 in ovarian carcinoma is yet to be established. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a group of small noncoding RNAs, negatively regulate gene expression and their dysregulation has been implicated in tumorigenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential involvement of a specific miRNA, miR-219-5p, in HMGA2-induced ovarian cancer. Methods The ovarian cancer cell line, SKOV3, was employed, and miR-219-5p and HMGA2 overexpression vectors constructed. The CCK-8 kit was used to determine cell proliferation and the Transwell® assay used to measure cell invasion and migration. RT-PCR and western blot analyses were applied to analyze the expression of miR-219-5p and HMGA2, and the luciferase reporter assay used to examine the interactions between miR-219-5p and HMGA2. Nude mice were employed to characterize in vivo tumor growth regulation. Results Expression of miR-219-5p led to suppression of proliferation, invasion and migration of the ovarian cancer cell line, SKOV3, by targeting HMGA2. The inhibitory effects of miR-219-5p were reversed upon overexpression of HMGA2. Data from the luciferase reporter assay showed that miR-219-5p downregulates HMGA2 via direct integration with its 3′-UTR. Consistent with in vitro findings, expression of miR-219-5p led to significant inhibition of tumor growth in vivo. Conclusion Our results collectively suggest that miR-219-5p inhibits tumor growth and metastasis by targeting HMGA2.

Abstract
Objective Recent studies have demonstrated that lin-28 homolog B (LIN28B)/miRNA let-7 (let-7) plays a role in the regulation of pubertal onset in mammals. However, the role of LIN28B/let-7 in the onset of ovine puberty remains unknown. We cloned the Duolang sheep Lin28B cDNA sequence, detected the expression change of LIN28B, let-7a and let-7g in hypothalamus, pituitary and ovary tissues at three different pubertal stages. Methods The reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to clone the cDNA sequence of LIN28B gene from Duolang sheep and the bioinformatics methods were applied to analyze the amino acid sequence of LIN28B protein. The mRNA expression levels of the LIN28B gene at different pubertal stages were examined by real time RT-PCR. Results LIN28B cDNA of Duolang sheep was cloned, and two transcripts were obtained. The amino acid sequence of transcript 1 shares 99.60%, 98.78%, and 94.80% identity with those of goat, wild yak and pig, respectively. Strong LIN28B mRNA expression was detected in the hypothalamus, pituitary, ovary, oviduct and uterus, while moderate expression was found in the liver, kidney, spleen and heart, weak expression was observed in the heart. No expression was found in the lungs. Quantitative real-time PCR (QPCR) and western-blot analysis revealed that the LIN28B was highly expressed in the hypothalamus and ovary at prepuberty stages, and this expression significantly decreased from the prepuberty to puberty stages (p<0.05). Markedly increased levels of mRNA expression were detected in the pituitary from prepuberty to puberty (p<0.05) and then significantly decreased from puberty to postpuberty (p<0.05). The expression levels of let-7a and let-7g showed no significant changes among different pubertal stages (p>0.05). Conclusion These results provided a foundation for determining the functions of LIN28B/let-7 and their role in the onset of sheep puberty.

Abstract
The realization of reducing concrete self-weight is mainly to replace ordinary aggregates with lightweight aggregates; such replacement usually comes with some intrinsic disadvantages in concrete, such as high brittleness and lower mechanical properties. However, these shortages can be effectively remedied by external confinement such as fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) jacketing. To accurately predict the stress-strain behavior of lightweight concrete with lateral confinement, it is necessary to properly understand the coupling effects that are caused by diverse aggregates types and confinement level. In this study, FRP-confined lightweight concrete cylinder with varying aggregate types were tested under axial compression. Strain gauges and linear variable displacement transducers were used for monitoring the lateral and axial deformation of specimens during the tests. By sensing the strain and deformation data for the specimens under the tri-axial loads, the results showed that the lateral to axial strain relation is highly related to the aggregate types and confinement level. In addition, when compared with FRP-confined normal weight aggregate concrete, the efficiency of FRP confinement for lightweight concrete is gradually reduced with the increase of external pressure. Replace ordinary fine aggregate by its lightweight counterparts can be significantly improved the deformation capacity of FRP-confined lightweight concrete, meanwhile does not lead to the reduction of compressive strength. Plus, this paper modified a well-established stress-strain model for an FRP-confined lightweight concrete column, involving the effect of aggregate types. More accurate expressions pertaining to the deformation capacity and the stress-strain relation were proposed with reasonable accuracy.

Abstract
Aberrant gene expression during placental development may affect fetal growth and contribute to preeclampsia. The high‑temperature requirement A (HTRA) family of proteins are serine proteases that may serve in the quality control of misfolded or mislocalized proteins. Recently, the potential involvement of HTRA1 and HTRA4 in the normal development of the placenta and in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia has been reported. The present study collected placental tissues from patients with severe preeclampsia and gestational age‑matched control samples. The expression of HTRA1 and HTRA4 was analyzed using reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blotting and immunohistochemistry. The human trophoblast line HTR‑8 was transfected with HTRA1 or HTRA4, and cell function was assessed. The present study also detected the expression of HTRA1 and HTRA4 in HTR‑8/SVneo transfected cells under hypoxia (1% O2) and further studied the effects of hypoxia on HTR‑8 cell migration. HTRA1 and HTRA4 were mainly localized to the cytoplasm of syncytiotrophoblasts. The expression levels of the two genes were elevated in the placental tissues of patients with severe preeclampsia. Finally, it was determined in vitro that ectopic expression of HTRA1 and HTRA4 significantly attenuated HTR‑8 cell migration, and elevated HTRA1 limited HTR‑8 cell growth. Under hypoxic conditions, the expression levels of HTRA1 and HTRA4 improved significantly. It was hypothesized that the aberrant expression of HTRA1 or HTRA4 may be involved in the onset of preeclampsia, and increased HTRA1 or HTRA4 expression may affect trophoblast functions.

Abstract
This paper presents the authors' newly developed hybrid ultra-high performance (HUHP) engineered cementitious composite (ECC) with steel (ST) and polyethylene (PE) fibers. From this point on it will be referred to as HUHP-ECC. The volumes of steel and PE fibers were adjusted to obtain different mechanical properties, including compressive strength, tensile, and flexural properties. We found that tensile and flexural properties, including bending strength and ductility indexes, increased with higher PE fiber amounts but reduced with the increased ST fiber volume. Notably, the compressive strength had the opposite tendency and decreased with increases in the PE volume. The ST fiber had a significantly positive effect on the compressive strength. The fluidity of HUHP-ECC improved with the increasing amount of ST fiber. The pseudo strain-hardening (PSH) values for all the HUHP-ECC mixtures were used to create an index indicating the ability of strain capacity; thus, the PSH values were calculated to explain the ductility of HUHP-ECC with different fiber volumes. Finally, the morphology of PE and ST fibers at the fracture surface was observed by an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM).

Abstract
In recent years, the application of engineered cementitious composites (ECCs) in structures subjected to cyclic fatigue loading, such as highway bridges, has gained widespread attention. However, most existing ECCs do not have sufficient strength and ductility, which limits their applications, especially in highway bridge structures under high-stress. In this work, an ultra-high performance engineered cementitious composite (UHP-ECC) was configured, which had a compressive strength of approximately 120 MPa, a tensile strength of up to 12 MPa, and a tensile strain capacity of more than 8%. This paper presents a study of the fatigue performance of UHP-ECC at four different fatigue stress levels through the four-point bending test. The mid-span deflection of the specimen was monitored along with the crack opening displacement (COD) of the pure bending section at the bottom of the specimen, and the crack width. In addition, the dissipated energy was calculated at various stress levels. The progressive formation of cracks under static loading was monitored using the digital image correlation (DIC) technique. The fibers at the fractured surface of the specimens were observed and analyzed by environmental scanning electron microscopy, and the morphology of the fibers was obtained at different fatigue stress levels. Eventually, the fatigue life under different stress levels was obtained, and the relationship between the fatigue life and the stress level was established.

Abstract
The relatively high shrinkage of the alkali-activated slag (AAS) has restricted its application as a widely-used building material. This research attempts to study the effect of a hydrothermally synthesized C-A-S-H gel, which has a similar composition to that of the main AAS product, on the shrinkage performance of the AAS. The C-A-S-H nano-particles were mixed into AAS mortars in a proportion ranging from 1 wt % to 5 wt % using two different methods, and the drying and autogenous shrinkage ratio of modified AAS mortars were measured at various ages. The effect of C-A-S-H on their microstructures was also characterized. Results obtained indicated that the addition of C-A-S-H gel to AAS mortars had reduced their drying and autogenous shrinkage, with the addition of 3 wt % reaching the maximum reduction. However, the added amount was not directly proportional to the decrease of shrinkage; the proportion of early-stage drying shrinkage of AAS mortars was greater than that of autogenous shrinkage; the dispersion method was slightly better than the dry mixing method in both shrinkage reduction. MIP results suggested that the addition of C-A-S-H gel had reduced the total porosity and the average pore size of AAS mortars, optimized their pore structure distribution, and significantly reduced the volume of mesopores (<0.05 µm) which resulted in high shrinkage, while the adding method had no significant effect on the pore size distribution of AAS mortars. SEM results showed that the addition of C-A-S-H gel can reduce the crack width of mortars, obtain a dense and uniform matrix structure, increase the density, and effectively suppress both shrinkage deformation of the system, whereas the adding method has no obvious effect on the crack width of the mortar. This research provides a novel approach of the AAS shrinkage reduction and structure refinement, shedding lights on nano-material modification of the AAS.

Abstract
Self-healing is a natural phenomenon whereby living organisms respond to damage. Recently, considerable research efforts have been invested in self-healing cementitious materials that are capable of restoring structural integrity and mechanical properties after being damaged. Inspired by nature, a variety of creative approaches are explored here based on the intrinsic or extrinsic healing mechanism. Research on new intrinsic self-healing cementitious materials with biomimetic features is on the forefront of material science, which provides a promising way to construct resilient and sustainable concrete infrastructures. Here, the current advances in the development of the intrinsic healing cementitious materials are described, and a new definition of intrinsic self-healing discussed. The methods to assess the efficiency of different healing mechanisms are briefly summarized. The critical insights are emphasized to guide the future research on the development of new self-healing cementitious materials.
