Abstract
The radiative hyperon decay Λ→nγ is studied using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of the decay Λ→nγ is determined to be (0.832±0.038_{stat}±0.054_{syst})×10^{-3}, which is a factor of 2.1 lower and 5.6 standard deviations different than the previous measurement. By analyzing the joint angular distribution of the decay products, the first determination of the decay asymmetry α_{γ} is reported with a value of -0.16±0.10_{stat}±0.05_{syst}.

Abstract
Based on 10 billion J/ψ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for CP violation in Λ decay is performed in the difference between CP-odd decay parameters α_{-} for Λ→pπ^{-} and α_{+} for Λ[over ¯]→p[over ¯]π^{+} by using the process e^{+}e^{-}→J/ψ→ΛΛ[over ¯]. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the most precise values for the decay parameters are determined to be α_{-}=0.7519±0.0036±0.0024 and α_{+}=-0.7559±0.0036±0.0030, respectively. The Λ and Λ[over ¯] averaged value of the decay parameter is extracted to be α_{avg}=0.7542±0.0010±0.0024 with unprecedented accuracy. The CP asymmetry A_{CP}=(α_{-}+α_{+})/(α_{-}-α_{+}) is determined to be -0.0025±0.0046±0.0012, which is one of the most precise measurements in the baryon sector. The reported results for the decay parameter will play an important role in the studies of the polarizations and CP violations for the strange, charmed and beauty baryons.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy of two types of progestogen therapy for preventing preterm birth (PTB) and to review the relevant literature. DESIGN A multicentre, randomised, open-label, equivalence trial and a meta-analysis. SETTING Tertiary referral hospitals in South Korea. POPULATION Pregnant women with a history of spontaneous PTB or short cervical length (<25 mm). METHODS Eligible women were screened and randomised at 16-22 weeks of gestation to receive either 200 mg of vaginal micronised progesterone daily (vaginal group) or an intramuscular injection of 250 mg 17α-hydroxyprogesterone caproate weekly (IM group). Stratified randomisation was carried out according to participating centres and indications for progestogen therapy. This trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02304237). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE Preterm birth (PTB) before 37 weeks of gestation. RESULTS A total of 266 women were randomly assigned and a total of 247 women (119 and 128 women in the vaginal and IM groups, respectively) were available for the intention-to-treat analysis. Risks of PTB before 37 weeks of gestation did not significantly differ between the two groups (22.7 versus 25.8%, P = 0.571). The difference in PTB risk between the two groups was 3.1% (95% CI -7.6 to 13.8%), which was within the equivalence margin of 15%. The meta-analysis results showed no significant differences in the risk of PTB between the vaginal and IM progestogen treatments. CONCLUSION Compared with vaginal progesterone, treatment with intramuscular progestin might increase the risk of PTB before 37 weeks of gestation by as much as 13.8%, or reduce the risk by as much as 7.6%, in women with a history of spontaneous PTB or with short cervical length. TWEETABLE ABSTRACT Vaginal and intramuscular progestogen showed equivalent efficacy for preventing preterm birth before 37 weeks of gestation.

Abstract
HIV and sexuality stigma impede HIV prevention and care efforts. HealthMpowerment.org (HMP) is an interactive mobile phone- and web-based HIV prevention and care intervention for young Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM; ages 18-30) in the United States. HMP included three forums where participants could share their experiences. In this study, we explored whether engaging in stigma-related discussions was associated with changes in YBMSM's stigma-related scores throughout the trial. YBMSM (ages 18-30; N = 238) participating in HMP completed surveys at baseline, and 3 and 6 month follow-ups that included a series of scales focused on HIV and sexuality (internalized homophobia; sexual prejudice) stigma. Sixty-two participants contributed to the forums (1497 posts). We coded instances where YBMSM's conversations were stigma related (915 posts, 61.1%), including discussions of anticipated (74/915, 8.1%), experienced (125/915, 13.7%), internalized (410/915, 44.8%), and/or challenged (639/915, 69.8%) stigma regarding sexuality and HIV. Using a mixed methods approach, we examined whether changes in YBMSM's stigma scores were associated with stigma-related discussions within the forum. We controlled for age, HIV status, income, and educational attainment in these multivariable models. YBMSM who discussed experiencing HIV stigma in the forums reported decreases in perceived HIV stigma over time (b = - 0.37, p ≤ 0.05). YBMSM whose forum posts indicated anticipated HIV stigma reported increases in HIV stigma over time (b = 0.46, p ≤ 0.01). Participants who challenged sexuality-related stigma in forums had lower internalized homophobia (b = - 0.68, p ≤ 0.01) at baseline. YBMSM whose discussions focused on experiencing sexuality-related stigma reported increases in internalized homophobia (b = 0.39, p ≤ 0.01) and sexual prejudice (b = 0.87, p ≤ 0.05) over time. Developing strategies to combat stigma remains a key priority. HMP created an online space where YBMSM could discuss HIV and sexuality stigma. Although a limited number of HMP participants authored the majority of these forum discussions, the discussions were associated with changes in the sample's stigma scores over time. Online interventions (e.g., social media, apps) should consider the inclusion of forums to address stigma and test the efficacy of forums to improve YBMSM's HIV prevention and care continuum outcomes.

Abstract
Apoptotic signal pathways are delivered to caspase-3, caspase-9, or both in different cells via the death receptor pathway, mitochondrial pathway, or by the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) pathway through initiators of caspase-3, -8, -9, or -12. Tacrolimus (Tac)-induced apoptosis was characterized by nuclear fragmentation and caspase-3 activation. We examined the effect of tacrolimus on ER-derived calcium and caspase-3,-12-mediated apoptosis on Jurkat human T lymphocyte. Tac decreased the viability of Jurkat cells in a dose-dependent manner. Tac also increased continuously intracellular concentration of calcium from 24 hours to 72 hours. We did not find intracellular calcium changes on the treatment of calcium ionorpore (A23187) regardless of 1 nmol/L Tac concentration level. However, calcium adenosine triphosphatase inhibitor (thapsigargin) increased intracellular calcium accumulation and co-treating 1 nmol/L Tac further induced intracellular calcium accumulation. Interestingly, we found that 1 nmol/L Tac treatment induced activation of caspase-12 protease as well as the catalytic activity of caspase-3 but not catalytic activation of caspase-6, -8, and -9 proteases in Jurkat cells. These data advance our understanding of Tac-induced apoptosis is ER-derived calcium and caspases-3,-12- mediated apoptosis in human Jurkat cell line.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) were at higher risk of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) compared to controls and had elevated mortality rates. Compared to conservative treatment, surgical treatment for OVCF in PD patients seemed to be associated with better outcomes. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk of OVCF in patients with PD. METHODS Data from patients over the age of 60 years who were diagnosed with PD were collected between 2004 and 2013 from the Korean National Health Insurance Database (n = 3370). The comparison group (non-PD) consisted of randomly selected patients (five per patient with PD; n = 16,850) matched to the PD group, who were newly diagnosed annually according to age and sex. Cox proportional hazard regressions were used to examine the relationships between osteoporosis, OVCF, surgery for OVCF, and PD. Household income and residential area of patients were also assessed. Overall survival rates were calculated after adjusting for confounding factors, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and chronic kidney disease. RESULTS OVCF was developed in 12.5% of patients in the PD group and in 7.4% of patients in the control group. PD was associated with increased risk of osteoporosis (hazard ratio [HR], 1.32; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.21-1.43; p < 0.001), OVCF (HR 1.66; 95% CI, 1.47-1.87; p < 0.001), and surgery for OVCF (HR 2.69; 95% CI, 1.78-4.08; p < 0.001). Household income was not significantly related with development of osteoporosis, incidence of OVCF, or surgery for OVCF. Residential area was statistically associated with osteoporosis, OVCF, and surgery for OVCF. The mortality rate of the PD group was about 1.7 times higher than that of the non-PD group after adjusting for potential confounders, and the mortality rate of the PD with OVCF group was higher than that of the non-PD group, but not significantly (p = 0.09). The survival rate of the PD group with surgery for OVCF showed a trend toward a more positive prognosis compared with that of the PD group with conservative treatment. CONCLUSIONS Patients with PD had significantly increased risk of osteoporosis and OVCF. Surgical treatment for OVCF in PD patients was associated with a better prognosis than conservative treatment.

While the role of adipocyte, one of the major components of the breast microenvironment, has been well documented in breast cancer progression, the preadipocytes function to favor early-stage breast cancer progression at the molecular level is not fully elucidated. To delineate the role of human preadipocyte (hPreAd) on breast cancer progression, we investigated a cross-talk between human breast dutal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and hPreAd in in vivo culture and in vivo tumor model. On Co-culture system with DCIS cell line MCF10DCIS.com and primary hPreAd, proliferation, migration and invasion of MCF10DCIS.com was promoted by hPreAd. Conditioned medium (CM) of hPreAd activated signaling molecules (AKT1, ERK1/2, mTOR, FAK and STAT3) in MCF10DCIS.com. hPreAd expressed fibroblast specific protein 1 (FSP1) and alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMC), and increased IL-6 secretion by co-culture or MCF10DCIS.com CM, whereas adipocyte differentiation of hPreAd was suppressed by co-culture. A neutralizing antibody (NAb) of IL-6 or IL-6 receptor suppressed the MCF10DCIS.com proliferation and migration enhanced by co-culture of hPreAd. In xenograft tumor model, tumor growth of MCF10DCIS.com was enhanced by co-injection with hPreAd. IL-6 NAb had minimal effect in xenografts with MCF10DCIS.com alone; however, in models co-administered with hPreAd, IL-6 NAb had more potent effects on tumor inhibition. Taken together, our study suggests that IL-6-mediated cross-talk between preadipocyte and breast DCIS can exert the breast cancer progression at early-stage. Deciphering the cellular and molecular mechanisms behind the preadipocyte-breast DCIS crosstalk might provide new targets for improving diagnosis/prognosis and for the design of innovative therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
PURPOSE Ensuring and measuring adherence to prescribed exercise regimens are fundamental challenges in intervention studies to promote exercise in adults with cancer. This study reports exercise adherence in women who were asked to walk 150 min/week throughout chemotherapy treatment for early breast cancer. Participants were asked to wear a FitbitTM throughout their waking hours, and Fitbit steps were uploaded directly into study computers. METHODS Descriptive statistics are reported, and both unadjusted and multivariable linear regression models were used to assess associations between participant characteristics, breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, chemotherapy toxicities, and patient-reported symptoms with average Fitbit steps/week. RESULTS Of 127 women consented to the study, 100 had analyzable Fitbit data (79%); mean age was 48 and 31% were non-white. Mean walking steps were 3956 per day. Nineteen percent were fully adherent with the target of 6686 steps/day and an additional 24% were moderately adherent. In unadjusted analysis, baseline variables associated with fewer Fitbit steps were: non-white race (p = 0.012), high school education or less (p = 0.0005), higher body mass index (p = 0.0024), and never/almost never drinking alcohol (p = 0.0048). Physical activity variables associated with greater Fitbit steps were: pre-chemotherapy history of vigorous physical activity (p = 0.0091) and higher self-reported walking minutes/week (p < 0.001), and higher outcome expectations from exercise (p = 0.014). Higher baseline anxiety (p = 0.03) and higher number of chemotherapy-related symptoms rates "severe/very severe" (p = 0.012) were associated with fewer steps. In multivariable analysis, white race was associated with 12,146 greater Fitbit steps per week (p = 0.004), as was self-reported walking minutes prior to start of chemotherapy (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS Inexpensive commercial-grade activity trackers, with data uploaded directly into research computers, enable objective monitoring of home-based exercise interventions in adults diagnosed with cancer. Analysis of the association of walking steps with participant characteristics at baseline and toxicities during chemotherapy can identify reasons for low/non-adherence with prescribed exercise regimens.

Abstract
Infrared (IR)-blocking filters are crucial for controlling the radiative loading on cryogenic systems and for optimizing the sensitivity of bolometric detectors in the far-IR. We present a new IR filter approach based on a combination of patterned frequency-selective structures on silicon and a thin (25-75 μm thick) absorptive composite based on powdered reststrahlen absorbing materials. For a 300 K blackbody, this combination reflects ∼50% of the incoming light and blocks >99.8% of the total power with negligible thermal gradients and excellent low-frequency transmission. This allows a reduction in the IR thermal loading to negligible levels in a single cold filter. These composite filters are fabricated on silicon substrates, which provide excellent thermal transport laterally through the filter and ensure that the entire area of the absorptive filter stays near the bath temperature. A metamaterial antireflection coating cut into these substrates reduces in-band reflections to below 1%, and the in-band absorption of the powder mix is below 1% for signal bands below 750 GHz. This type of filter can be directly incorporated into silicon refractive optical elements.

Abstract
We present an evaluation of systematic effects associated with a continuously rotating, ambient-temperature half-wave plate (HWP) based on two seasons of data from the Atacama B-Mode Search (ABS) experiment located in the Atacama Desert of Chile. The ABS experiment is a microwave telescope sensitive at 145 GHz. Here we present our in-field evaluation of celestial (Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) plus galactic foreground) temperature-to-polarization leakage. We decompose the leakage into scalar, dipole, and quadrupole leakage terms. We report a scalar leakage of ∼0.01%, consistent with model expectations and an order of magnitude smaller than other CMB experiments have been reported. No significant dipole or quadrupole terms are detected; we constrain each to be <0.07% (95% confidence), limited by statistical uncertainty in our measurement. Dipole and quadrupole leakage at this level lead to systematic error on r ≲ 0.01 before any mitigation due to scan cross-linking or boresight rotation. The measured scalar leakage and the theoretical level of dipole and quadrupole leakage produce systematic error of r < 0.001 for the ABS survey and focal-plane layout before any data correction such as so-called deprojection. This demonstrates that ABS achieves significant beam systematic error mitigation from its HWP and shows the promise of continuously rotating HWPs for future experiments.

Abstract
Intracellular signaling pathways regulated by leptin have largely been studied in metabolically important organs such as adipose tissue and peripheral blood mononuclear cells, suggesting that leptin plays a key role in pathophysiology of insulin resistance. However, whether synthetic analog of leptin, metreleptin, has similar effects on cardiac myocytes (CM) and uterine smooth muscle cells (USMC) has not yet been studied. Hence, in order to address these questions, we extended previous observations and investigated in vitro signaling study whether metreleptin may activate key signaling pathways. We observed that metreleptin activates Jak2 and STAT3 signaling pathways in dose- and time-dependent manner in CM and USMC. Also, we found that metreleptin increases ERK1/2, JNK and/or p38 phosphorylation in CM. In vitro metreleptin administration also increased ERK1/2 and/or p38 phosphorylation in USMC. By contrast, JNK was not regulated by in vitro metreleptin administration in USMC. Moreover, metreleptin-activated all signaling pathways were blocked by pre-treatment of PD98095 (ERK inhibitor), SB203580 (p38 inhibitor) and/or SP600125 (JNK inhibitor), respectively. Finally, metreleptin increased cell size (hypertrophy) in both CM and USMC. Our data provide novel insights into the role of Jak2, STAT3, ERK1/2, JNK and/or p38 as probable mediators of the action of leptin in regulating hypertrophy in CM and USMC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the expression of PI3K-p110α, pAkt, PTEN, the signaling molecules from PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, DJ-1, an oncoprotein and HSP90a, a molecular chaperone, and their correlation in uterine cervical neoplasia, in order to elucidate their role in cervical carcinogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Using immunohistochemistry, the authors analyzed the expression of PI3K-p110α, pAkt, PTEN, DJ-1 and HSP90α, and their correlation in ten normal tissues, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) including 30 CIN1 and 31 CIN3, and 33 cases of invasive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). RESULTS The expression of all proteins significantly increased in CIN3 compared to CIN1, and only the expression of PI3K-p110α significantly increased in invasive SCC compared to CIN3. There was a significant positive correlation between the expression of PI3K-p110α and DJ-1, as well as PI3K-p110α and pAkt in CIN3 and invasive SCC. CONCLUSION Overexpression of PI3K-p110α is associated with progression of uterine cervical neoplasia, and the expression of pAkt and DJ-1 is positively correlated with PI3K-p110α expression in this process.

Abstract
African violet (Saintpaulia ionantha) is an ornamental species of the family Gesneriaceae and is characterized by fleshy leaves and colorful flowers. This popular, exotic ornamental, originally from Kenya and Tanzania, is vegetatively produced from cutting and tissue culture (1). In May 2013, virus-like foliar symptoms, including a mosaic with dark green islands and chlorosis surrounding the veins, were observed on an African violet plant in a greenhouse located in Icheon, Korea. Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was identified in the symptomatic plant by serological testing for the presence of CMV coat protein (CP) with a commercial immunostrip kit (Agdia, Elkhart, IN). The presence of CMV was confirmed by serological detection with a commercially available double-antibody sandwich (DAS)-ELISA kit (Agdia). Sap from the serologically positive sample was mechanically inoculated to test plants using 10 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.0). The virus (named CMV-AV1) caused necrotic local lesions on Chenopodium amaranticolor at 5 days post-inoculation (dpi), while mild to severe mosaic was observed in Nicotiana glutinosa, N. tabacum 'Samsun NN,' Cucurbita pepo 'Super-Top,' Physalis angulate, and Solanum lycopersicum 'Unicorn' 10 to 14 dpi. Examination of the inoculated plant leaves by DAS-ELISA and electron microscopy (leaf dips) showed positive reactions to CMV and the presence of spherical virions ∼28 nm in diameter, respectively. To verify whether CMV-AV1 is the cause of disease symptoms observed in African violet, virus-free African violet (10 plants) was mechanically inoculated by sap from local lesions on C. amaranticolor inoculated with CMV-AV1. At 8 weeks after inoculation, all plants produced systemic mosaic and chlorosis surrounding veins, resulting in strong DAS-ELISA reactions for CMV, whereas mock-inoculated African violet plants remained symptomless and virus-free. The presence of CMV-AV1 in all naturally infected and mechanically inoculated plants was further verified by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR. Total RNAs were extracted with the RNeasy Plant Mini Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany), according to the manufacturer's instructions. RT-PCR was carried out with the One-Step RT-PCR Kit (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA) using a pair of primers, CPTALL3 and CPTALL5 (2), amplifying the entire CP gene and part of an intergenic region and 3'-noncoding region of CMV RNA3. RT-PCR products (960 bp) were obtained from all naturally infected and mechanically inoculated plants as well as from positive control (viral RNAs from virions), but not from healthy tissues. The amplified RT-PCR products were purified with QIAquick PCR Purification Kit (Qiagen) and sequenced using BigDye Termination kit (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA). Multiple alignment of the CMV-AV1 CP sequence (Accession No. AB842275) with CP sequences of other CMV isolates using MEGA5 software revealed that 91.8 to 99.0% and 71.0 to 73.0% identities to those of CMV subgroup I and subgroup II, respectively. These results provide additional confirmation of CMV-AV1 infection. CMV may pose a major threat for production of African violet since the farming of African violet plants is performed using the vegetative propagation of the African violet leaves in Korea. In particular, mosaic and chlorosis symptoms in African violet cause damage to ornamental quality of African violet. Abstract
Cherry necrotic rusty mottle virus (CNRMV), an unassigned member in the family Betaflexiviridae, has been reported in sweet cherry in North America, Europe, New Zealand, Japan, China, and Chile. The virus causes brown, angular necrotic spots, shot holes on the leaves, gum blisters, and necrosis of the bark in several cultivars (1). During the 2012 growing season, 154 sweet cherry trees were tested for the presence of CNRMV by RT-PCR. Samples were randomly collected from 11 orchards located in Gyeonggi and Gyeongsang provinces in Korea. RNA was extracted from leaves using the NucliSENS easyMAG system (bioMérieux, Boxtel, The Netherlands). The primer pair CGRMV1/2 (2) was used to amplify the coat protein region of CNRMV. Although none of the collected samples showed any notable symptoms, CNRMV PCR products of the expected size (949 bp) were obtained from three sweet cherry samples from one orchard in Gyeonggi province. The PCR products were cloned into a pGEM-T easy vector (Promega, Madison, WI) and sequenced. BLAST analyses of the three Korean sequences obtained (GenBank Accession Nos. AB822635, AB822636, and AB822637) showed 97% nucleotide sequence identity with a flowering cherry isolate from Japan (EU188439), and shared 98.8 to 99.6% nucleotide and 99.6 to 100% amino acid similarities to each other. The CNRMV positive samples were also tested for Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), Cherry mottle leaf virus (CMLV), Cherry rasp leaf virus (CRLV), Cherry leafroll virus (CLRV), Cherry virus A (CVA), Little cherry virus 1 (LChV-1), Prune dwarf virus (PDV), and Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV) by RT-PCR. One of the three CNRMV-positive samples was also infected with CVA. To confirm CNRMV infection by wood indexing, Prunus serrulata cv. Kwanzan plants were graft-inoculated with chip buds from the CNRMV-positive sweet cherry trees. At 3 to 4 weeks post-inoculation, the Kwanzan plants showed quick decline with leaves wilting and dying; CNRMV infection of the indicators was confirmed by RT-PCR. To our knowledge, this is the first report of CNRMV infection of sweet cherry trees in Korea. Screening for CNRMV in propagation nurseries should minimize spread of this virus within Korea. Abstract
We report inelastic neutron scattering measurements on Na2IrO3, a candidate for the Kitaev spin model on the honeycomb lattice. We observe spin-wave excitations below 5 meV with a dispersion that can be accounted for by including substantial further-neighbor exchanges that stabilize zigzag magnetic order. The onset of long-range magnetic order below T(N)=15.3 K is confirmed via the observation of oscillations in zero-field muon-spin rotation experiments. Combining single-crystal diffraction and density functional calculations we propose a revised crystal structure model with significant departures from the ideal 90° Ir-O-Ir bonds required for dominant Kitaev exchange.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To audit secondary preventive care in non-acute stroke patients in a local General Outpatient Clinic of the Hospital Authority. DESIGN Comparison of two samples from a case series at different time-points. SETTING General Outpatient Clinic, Hong Kong. PATIENTS Non-acute stroke patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria and regularly followed up in a local General Outpatient Clinic during the audit cycle were recruited. Evidence-based audit criteria and performance standards were established after thorough literature review. A sample from this case series was compared retrospectively at two time-points. First-phase evaluation was performed in October 2009 and deficiencies were identified. After 9 months of active intervention, second-phase evaluation was performed in July 2010. Chi squared test and student's t test were used to compare the significance of relevant changes noted. RESULTS First-phase data showed marked deficiencies in proper assessment of cardiovascular risk factors. Satisfactory blood pressure, glucose and lipid control was evident only in 47% of the hypertensive, 45% of the diabetic, and 37% of the dyslipidaemic stroke patients, respectively. After 9 months of implementing changes, significant improvements were noted with respect to standard targets being achieved. In the second phase, more comprehensive tackling of cardiovascular risk factors was noted, with satisfactory blood pressure control in 73% of hypertensive patients, and adequate metabolic control in 62% diabetic patients (P<0.01 for both). Only 59% of the dyslipidaemic stroke patients had optimal lipid control, though their mean low-density lipoprotein concentration was significantly reduced (P<0.05). CONCLUSION This study provided a valuable lesson in identifying deficiencies in secondary prevention for stroke patients managed in a local primary care facility. Using a team approach intervention, quality assurance was promoted and a definite impact on patient care was demonstrated.

Abstract
Mutations of the mitofusin 2 (MFN2) gene have been reported to be the most common cause of the axonal form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). A prospective brain MRI study was performed on 18 early-onset CMT patients with MFN2 mutations, and a high frequency (39%) of brain abnormalities was found. Early-onset patients showed multiple scattered or confluent brain lesions that involved gray matter as well as white matter. Patterns of brain involvement in early-onset patients differed from those of late-onset patients and other hereditary peripheral neuropathies. In addition, one CMT patient demonstrated a brain lesion before the development of peripheral neuropathy.
