Abstract
There is a dearth of literature on factors associated with citation of publications in ophthalmology. We investigated predictors of citations for original ophthalmologic research articles based on author, study, and journal characteristics. In accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines (PRISMA), we extracted articles that studied the leading cause of vision impairment in the United States (cataract, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma) and were published in the top fifteen ophthalmology journals with the highest impact factors that accepted original research. Descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests, and negative binomial regression were used to compare citation counts based on author, study, and journal characteristics. In this study, author research productivity, journal impact factor, study funding, and location in high-income countries were predictors of increased citation in ophthalmology.

Abstract
PURPOSE To summarize the characteristics and trends of interest in retinoblastoma (Rb) in the last 50 years. METHODS The Web of Science Database was used to find all studies focused on Rb published from 1970 to 2018. The term "retinoblastoma" was used to search for the 100 most cited records. RESULTS The mean number of citations was 153.55 ± 88.9. The majority were from the United States (US) (n = 68). Drs. Shields authored 38% of the papers. The number of citations per year was positively correlated with the number of authors, r = 0.26 (p = 0.008). The number of patients was significantly associated with the number of citations per year (p = 0.012). Although papers on radiotherapy were the most common, publications about intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) were associated with 88.3% more citations per year (p = 0.031) and papers on intravenous chemotherapy (IVC) were associated with 40.3% more citations per year (p= 0.04). Review and meta-analysis studies had a higher median of citations (10.5) than interventional (6.4) or observational (5.2) studies. CONCLUSIONS This study compiles a comprehensive analysis of the most-cited articles on Rb. Studies with a higher number of citations per year were associated with IAC, which emphasizes the significance of the advances in Rb treatments that allow for the saving of eyes and vision as well as lives. Review studies had more citations than observational or interventional studies. More citations were associated with a larger number of authors or more reported patients per paper. These findings highlight the importance of collaborations to achieve relevant, high-quality research of Rb.

Abstract
The sudden international spread of the monkeypox virus has been accompanied by an increase in the scientific interest in the virus. More than 1,400 PubMed-indexed documents have been authored by about 5,800 unique authors, averaging around 120 publications per month. This sheer rise in the number led us to explore the type of content published in the literature. We discovered more than 30% of the documents are Quantitative Productivity (QP) i.e. papers that illustrate the emerging trends of parachute concerns, modified salami tactics, cyclic recycling, and excellence in redundancy. In addition, we found few common hyper-prolific authors previously identified in the COVID-19 literature. Further, we share our experience in publishing monkeypox literature and highlight the growing readership and citation interest in editorials, commentaries, correspondences, and similar editorial documents that were thought to be uncitable in the medical literature. As long as the scientific community and public demand, the supply of such papers will continue, with no responsibility on the authors, journals or the reader. Since overhauling the current system is an arduous task, we propose the optimization of existing retrieving services that would selectively filter documents based on article type (which also requires standardization of definitions) to dilute the crowding out effects of quantitative productivity.

Abstract
Data sharing is an important part of open science (OS), and more and more institutions and journals have been enforcing open data (OD) policies. OD is advocated to help increase academic influences and promote scientific discovery and development, but such a proposition has not been elaborated on well. This study explores the nuanced effects of the OD policies on the citation pattern of articles by using the case of Chinese economics journals. China Industrial Economics (CIE) is the first and only Chinese social science journal so far to adopt a compulsory OD policy, requiring all published articles to share original data and processing codes. We use the article-level data and difference-in-differences (DID) approach to compare the citation performance of articles published in CIE and 36 comparable journals. Firstly, we find that the OD policy quickly increased the number of citations, and each article on average received 0.25, 1.19, 0.86, and 0.44 more citations in the first four years after publication respectively. Furthermore, we also found that the citation benefit of the OD policy rapidly decreased over time, and even became negative in the fifth year after publication. In conclusion, this changing citation pattern suggests that an OD policy can be double edged sword, which can quickly increase citation performance but simultaneously accelerate the aging of articles.

Abstract
Introduction Lateral epicondylitis is a significant clinical problem in orthopaedics. There have been numerous articles written about this. Bibliometric analysis is critical for determining a field's most influential study. We attempt to identify and analyze the top 100 citations in lateral epicondylitis research. Materials and methods On December 31, 2021, an electronic search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection and the Scopus search engine with no restrictions on publication years, language, or study design. We reviewed each article's title and abstract until the top 100 were documented and evaluated in various ways. Results Between 1979 and 2015, the 100 most cited articles were published in 49 journals. The total number of citations ranged from 75 to 508 (mean ± SD, 145.5 ± 90.9), with citation densities ranging from 2.2 to 37.6 citations per year (mean ± SD, 8.7 ± 6.5). The United States is the most productive country, and the 2000s witnessed a surge in lateral epicondylitis research. The year of publication had a moderately positive correlation with citation density. Conclusion Our findings offer readers a fresh perspective on historical development hotspot areas of lateral epicondylitis research. Disease progression, diagnosis, and management have always been topics of discussion in articles. PRP-based biological therapy has emerged as a promising area for future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Tooth auto-transplantation has recently gained high clinical acceptance. The aim of this study was to identify the top 100 most-cited articles regarding tooth auto-transplantation, to analyse multiple citations and publication metrics and to outline the historical scientific advancements in this field. MATERIALS AND METHODS An advanced search of the Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science 'Core Collection' and Elsevier's Scopus databases utilising specific keywords related to tooth auto-transplantation between 1971 and 2021 was performed. The retrieved articles were ranked in descending order based on their Web of Science citation counts and further cross-matched with citation data from Scopus. The extracted data included citation counts, citation density, level of evidence, year of publication, contributing authors names and institutes, corresponding author's address, journal of publication, journal local citations index, cumulative growth index, keywords and keywords Plus. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and graphical mapping. RESULTS A total of 1290 articles were retrieved. The top 100 most-cited articles received a total of 4899 (Web of Science) and 5250 (Scopus) citations. Among these, cohort studies (29%) and case series (18%) were the most common study designs. Scandinavian countries produced major contributions in defining the top 100 most-cited articles and ranked within the top 5 countries based on the number of publications and citations per year. The greatest contributing authors were Schwartz O (n = 12), Andreasen JO (n = 8) and Paulsen HU (n = 6), and they were affiliated with Copenhagen, Denmark. The top contributing journals were American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology, European Journal of Orthodontics, Dental Traumatology and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis revealed a large geographical scientific interest and broad development in the field of tooth auto-transplantation spanning multiple dental disciplines.

Abstract
Background: Given the increasing interest and potential use of social media for the promotion of orthopedic literature, there is a need to better understand Altmetrics. Purposes: We sought to determine the relationship between the Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) and the number of citations for articles on total joint arthroplasty (TJA) published in orthopedics journals. We also sought to determine the predictors of greater social media attention for these articles. Methods: Articles on TJA published in Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ), Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS), Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research (CORR), Journal of Arthroplasty, Journal of Knee Surgery, Hip International, and Acta Orthopaedica in 2016 were extracted (n = 498). One-way analysis of variance with Bonferroni corrections was used to compare AAS and citations across journals. Multivariate regressions were used to determine predictors of social media attention and number of citations. Results: The mean AAS and number of citations were 7.5 (range: 0-289) and 16.7 (range: 0-156), respectively. Significant between-group effects were observed according to journal for AAS and number of citations. Publishing an article in JBJS was the strongest predictor of higher number of citations. Publishing an article in BJJ was the only independent predictor of higher AAS, while publishing an article in JBJS or CORR trended toward statistical significance. A higher AAS was a significant predictor of a higher number of citations. Number of citations and number of study references were positive predictors of greater social media attention on Twitter and Facebook. Conclusions: In articles on TJA published in 7 journals in 2016, a higher AAS was a associated with a higher number of citations. Various bibliometric characteristics were found to be significantly associated with greater social media attention; the most common influences were number of citations and number of references. Researchers in orthopedics can use this information when considering how to assess the impact of their work.

Abstract
Ticks and tick-borne diseases affect human and animal health worldwide. Although some tick-protective antigens have been identified and characterized, further research is needed for the development and application of effective anti-tick vaccines, which currently are unavailable for human protection. To study the trends and gaps in anti-tick vaccine approaches, herein we used scientometric analysis to evaluate several aspects of tick vaccinology. Co-authorship and citations networks pointed out two main research fronts, one focused on the laboratory protocols driving the recognition of candidate antigens and the other devoted to field experiments of protection against ticks. The analysis demonstrated the prominence of research in European countries on the topic. The scientometric approach allowed the recognition of isolated teams working casually on the topic, the lack of cooperation between middle- and low-income countries, and the need for sustained and integrated research. Most important, we identified a considerable lack of new candidates for vaccine development, as well as the participation of African and Asian countries. These results provide significant insights obtained from bibliographical analysis, suggest the strength and weaknesses in this field of research, and highlight new directions to advance in the development of effective vaccines for the control of tick infestations and tick-borne pathogens.

Abstract
AIM To perform a bibliometric analysis in the field of primary angle-closure disease (PACD) research to characterize current global trends and compare contributions from different countries, institutions, journals, and authors. METHODS All PACD-related publications from 1991 to 2022 from the Web of Science Core Collection database were extracted. Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer were used to collect publication data, analyze publication trends, and visualize relevant results. RESULTS A total of 1721 publications with 34 591 citations were identified. China produced the most publications (554) while ranking third in citations (8220 times). The United States contributed the most citations (12 315 times) with publications (362) ranking second. The Investigative Ophthalmology Visual Science was the most productive journal concerning PACD, and Aung Tin was the author with the highest number of publications in the field. Keywords were classified into three clusters, epidemiology and pathogenesis research, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and other imaging examinations, and glaucoma surgery treatment. Genome-wide association, susceptibility loci, OCT, and combined phacoemulsification have become new hot research topics in recent years since 2015. CONCLUSION China, the United States, and Singapore make the most outstanding contributions in the field of PACD research. OCT, combined phacoemulsification, and gene mutation-related study, are considered the potential focus for future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Giant cell arteritis (GCA) carries a significant risk of vascular and visual morbidity. Given its clinical importance, the 100 most frequently cited articles on GCA were systematically identified and bibliometrically analyzed. METHODS All databases belonging to the Web of Science platform were searched for research articles with no restriction on publication date. The distribution of papers among journals, countries of origin, and publication types were evaluated. The correlations between the year of publication with total number of citations and annual citation rate were also assessed. RESULTS The top 100 articles on GCA were published between 1946 and 2018 and were cited a median (range) of 229 (153-1751) times. The papers were published in 30 journals, including nine rheumatology journals (n= 45), seven general medical journals (n= 21), three ophthalmology journals (n= 8), and eleven journals from other fields of research (n= 26). Based on corresponding author affiliation, the articles originated from 13 countries, led by the US (n= 55), Spain (n= 12), and the UK (n= 11). Clinical studies (n= 73) and non-systematic reviews (n= 11) were the most common publication types. The median (range) number of authors per article was 5 (1-44), and 73 individuals had more than one authorship. Year of publication was significantly correlated with the annual citation rate (P<0.001) but not with the total number of citations (P= 0.487). CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis provides insight into the history and evolution of GCA research, highlighting some of the most influential contributions to the field. The latest landmark papers may not have been identified due to temporal constraints on citation accumulation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cryoablation is an interdisciplinary, widely used treatment approach for several types of solid tumors, making it difficult to obtain a comprehensive picture of its current status and popular research topics. This study aimed to use a bibliometric approach to understand important research themes and trends in cryoablation and oncology. METHODS Literature studies on cryoablation and oncology from 2001 to 2020 were extracted from the Web of Science. A bibliometric analysis was performed based on the annual publication volume, several journal articles and local citation score, and distribution of keywords and trends in the literature using tools such as COOC version 9.94, VOSviewer version 1.6.17, and the bibliometrix version 3.1.3 R package. RESULTS This study included 2793 publications. Total yearly publications have plateaued over the last 20 years. Five research themes were presented in the keyword network, including clinical applications of cryoablation in liver, lung, kidney, prostate, and skin cancers and comparison of cryoablation with other energy ablations. After 2012, 2 new research topics emerged: synergy between cryoablation and immunotherapy in tumors and cryoablation of Barrett esophagus. The high cited literatures are dominated by studies related to cryoablation for renal and prostate cancer treatment, but they also reflect the recent increasing interest in immunotherapy and bone metastases. Twenty important journals were identified, with Cryobiology publishing the most articles. CONCLUSION Bibliometric analysis of studies related to tumor cryoablation can help researchers rapidly comprehend popular topics and determine future trends, guiding future research directions.

Abstract
Background Patients with glioma present with complex palliative care needs throughout their disease trajectory. A scientometric analysis is effective and widely used to summarize the most influential studies within a certain field. We present the first scientometric analysis of palliative care for patients with glioma. Methods Based on a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) principle, we conducted a generalized search for articles on palliative care for glioma in the Web of Science database and evaluated the top 100 most frequently cited articles among 2,542 articles. Results The number of citations for the top 100 cited articles on palliative care for glioma ranged from 10 to 223. We have a narrative conclusion, as follows: most of these articles were published in oncology-specific journals (n = 53) and palliative-specific journals (n = 22). The United States, Australia, and the Netherlands were the top three countries contributing most of the articles (n = 59). Most of the research methods were quantitative analyses, qualitative analyses, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses (n = 70). In quantitative studies, 66 scales were used, and the top three scales used included the following: the Distress Thermometer, Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Brain Index (FACT-Br), and Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS). The articles were classified into six major categories based on research subjects, including patients (n = 44), caregivers (n = 16), patients and caregivers (n = 20), literature (n = 19), and healthcare providers (n = 1). Articles were classified into seven major categories based on research themes: quality of life (n = 11); end-of-life symptoms and care (n = 16); palliative and supportive care needs (n = 35); advance care planning and decision making (n = 4); psychological, social, and spiritual needs (n = 12); hospice utilization and referral (n = 3); and others (n = 19). The studies of the primary topic are correlated with the number of citations. Conclusions The results of the analysis indicated that patients diagnosed with glioma present a high variety of palliative care needs, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. The caregiver's burden and needs are important as well. The proportion of quantitative analyses, qualitative analyses, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses is relatively high, but the number of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was low. End-of-life care and supportive care needs appeared frequently. Thus, palliative care is an urgent need to be addressed in glioma management. The appropriate scales should be selected for patients with glioma and meet their palliative needs.

Abstract
The aim of this investigation was to analyze the 50 most frequently cited articles on hand and wrist surgery of all time and those published during the 21st century. We aimed to evaluate the article, author, and journal characteristics for these publications in order to create a modern reading list of impactful upper-extremity articles. A search of the Journal Citation Reports 2022 edition to identify journals containing possible hand or wrist-related articles was performed. Related journals were identified and then searched on the Web of Science database to identify hand and wrist articles. The top 50 most cited articles overall and the top 50 most cited articles from 2000-2021 were identified and indexed. Several bibliometric parameters, such as study type, study topic, study design, level of evidence, citation count, citation density, the institution of the lead author, the gender of lead and senior authors, and country were analyzed. For the most cited articles of all time, the number of citations ranged from 224 to 1109 with a mean of 368 citations and 15.0 citation density. Citations for the top 50 articles from 2000-2021 ranged from 153 to 950 with a mean of 233 citations and 14.5 citation density. For both groups, the most common level of evidence was level IV (33% and 27%). No correlation between journal impact factor and citation count or citation density was found. In both groups, "fracture" was the most common topic and papers were predominantly written by male authors. Frequently cited publications on hand and wrist surgery are often clinical papers that contain low levels of evidence and tend to focus on topics related to fracture care. Female authors remain underrepresented.

Abstract
Aim: We evaluated the characteristics of the top 50 most cited articles on cardiac tumors using bibliometric analysis. Method: Independent reviewers queried the Web of Science database for articles within the past 50 years. Results: Most articles were published between 1991 and 2016, 18% (9/50) of the first authors were women, 52% (26/50) of the articles were focused on cardiac imaging in addition to other aspects of cardiac tumors and only 61.5% (16/26) of these were focused purely on cardiac imaging. A journal's impact factor and the number of citations of an article were positively correlated, r(48) = 0.24, p = 0.048. Conclusion: This study presents insight into the top 50 most cited articles on cardiac tumors and provides guidance for future research.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the reference accuracy of articles from a random sample of issues from 1999, 2009, and 2019 of Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport (RQES). Methods: Up to two issues each of RQES published in 1999, 2009, and 2019 were randomly sampled, and references for articles were verified for accuracy. A total of 1,341 references from 50 articles were verified: 1999 (439 references), 2009 (396 references), and 2019 (506 references). Results: The overall error rate was 40% across the three years (i.e., number of references with at least one error divided by the total number of references and multiplied by 100). Chi-square analyses indicated no significant differences between years for the overall error rate (p > .05): 44% (1999), 38% (2009), and 39% (2019). Chi-square analyses indicated significant differences between years for at least one reference with an error related to author(s) names (p > .05). Chi-square analyses indicated significant differences between years for at least one reference with an error related to the article title. Conclusions: In the author's opinion, an overall error rate of 40% across the three years for RQES is simply too high. Ultimately, it is authors' responsibility to ensure reference accuracy. However, given the unacceptable error rates across fields of study, journals, and publication years, it may be prudent to explore supplemental options to increase reference accuracy in peer-reviewed articles. Reference accuracy is an important issue for authors, editorial offices of journals, and the scientific community.

Abstract
There are a wide variety of devices for the detection and diagnosis of caries from the initial stages. The purpose of this study was to perform a bibliometric study on research regarding caries diagnosis by identifying the contributing researchers, organizations, countries or regions, journals, and to provide an analysis of keyword co-occurrence and co-authorship networks. An advanced search was performed in Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database, using the terms “caries diagno*” and “caries detect*” in the “topic” field, from 2013 to 2021. Bibliometric parameters were extracted using WOS’s analyze results tools and VOSviewer software. A total of 816 documents were identified. Most of them, (61.3%) are included in “Dentistry Oral Surgery & Medicine” category within WOS. The largest scientific production on the subject is observed between 2018 and 2021, with a total of 344 records. The most productive author is Mendes FM, followed by Braga MM. The journal with the most articles published on caries diagnosis is Caries Research, with 55 articles (6.74%). The terms with the highest co-occurrence refer to the validity of diagnostic methods, tools or principles used in diagnosis or general aspects related to caries detection and diagnosis.

Abstract
Background Macular edema is the most common cause of impaired vision due to uveitis. Although various medications are available, not all uveitis patients with macular edema are satisfied with the treatment results. Therefore, solving this gap becomes the utmost concern worldwide. This study attempted to use bibliometric analysis to compare the valuable information in the top 100 highly cited studies in the field of drug therapy for uveitic macular edema (UME) and then determine the research hot spots and trends in this field. Methods In this study, the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of Web of Science (WOS) was used to collect the top 100 most cited studies on UME and analyze the literature from different countries/regions, institutions, and journals. The visualization knowledge maps is generated by VOSviewer and Citespace software. Results The top 100 highly cited studies are from 34 countries/regions. The United States has the largest number of publications, followed by the England, Spain and Germany. The top three institutions publishing highly cited literature are all from the England: University of London, University College London, and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Ophthalmology is the most widely published journal with 14 papers. The total number of citations is 1,371, meaning that Ophthalmology is the most authoritative journal in the field of UME drug therapy. The top two articles with the most cited times are from the United States, accounting for 36.5% of the total cited times of the top 10 articles. Keywords were divided into three clusters: the corticosteroid administration pathway, biological agents, and clinical trials. Uveitis, cystoid macular edema, efficacy, dexamethasone, and triamcinolone acetonide appeared more frequently in keywords. Researches on local and long-acting drug has gradually becoming the hot spots and trends. Conclusion This study concludes that bibliometric analysis can intuitively and quickly obtain the frontiers and hot spots of research in the field of UME drug therapy. Corticosteroid administration, biological agents, and clinical trials are considered the potential focus of future research.

Abstract
To assess the presence of journal policies discouraging inappropriate author's self-citation (A-SC) in "Respiratory System" journals, we evaluated submission guidelines of "Respiratory System" journals included in Journal-Citation Reports 2020 (Clarivate Analytics®) for the presence of policies on A-SC and its impact on journals' self-citation (J-SC) rate and impact factor (IF). We found that 14.3% of journals (n=8/56) reported policies on inappropriate A-SC. The median IF was not different in "Respiratory System" journals with (3.6; IQR:2.3) vs without A-SC policies (3.1; IQR:3.0; p=0.41). The J-SC rate was not influenced by the presence of A-SC policies (p=0.83). Fully open-access (n=14) and traditional (n=42) journals had no differences in IF (3.3; IQR:1.5 vs 3.1; IQR:3.4, respectively; p=0.77) and J-SC rate (4.5%; IQR:5.6 vs 6.2%; IQR:8.4, respectively; p=0.38). The majority of "Respiratory System" journals do not have policies discouraging A-SC. The presence of such policies is not associated with changes in IF or J-SC rates.

Abstract
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stimulating Peripheral Activity to Relieve Conditions (SPARC) program seeks to accelerate the development of therapeutic devices that modulate electrical activity in nerves to improve organ function. SPARC-funded researchers are generating rich datasets from neuromodulation research that are curated and shared according to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) guidelines and are accessible to the public on the SPARC data portal. Keeping track of the utilization of these datasets within the larger research community is a feature that will benefit data-generating researchers in showcasing the impact of their SPARC outcomes. This will also allow the SPARC program to display the impact of the FAIR data curation and sharing practices that have been implemented. This manuscript provides the methods and outcomes of SPARClink, our web tool for visualizing the impact of SPARC, which won the Second prize at the 2021 SPARC FAIR Codeathon. With SPARClink, we built a system that automatically and continuously finds new published SPARC scientific outputs (datasets, publications, protocols) and the external resources referring to them. SPARC datasets and protocols are queried using publicly accessible REST application programming interfaces (APIs, provided by Pennsieve and Protocols.io) and stored in a publicly accessible database. Citation information for these resources is retrieved using the NIH reporter API and National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Entrez system. A novel knowledge graph-based structure was created to visualize the results of these queries and showcase the impact that the FAIR data principles can have on the research landscape when they are adopted by a consortium.

Abstract
Background With the global assimilation of "publish and perish" culture into institutional academics, there has been an exponential rise in the publication numbers. There are ~2500 PUBMED entries related to "anorectal malformation (ARM)." The young clinician in his pursuit to translate experimental research to bedside often finds himself lost "in the midst of plenty." This bibliometric analysis has been conducted to codify the seminal work on ARM for future reference and pay tribute to the most impactful articles. Materials and Methods Thomson Reuters Web of Science citation indexing database and research platform was used to retrieve the most cited articles in ARM using appropriate search strings. The characteristics (name of authors, the total number of authors, the title of publication, journal of publication, year of publication, etc.,) of the 50 top-cited articles were analyzed. Results The analysis revealed that the Journal of Paediatric Surgery was leading the choice of journal for publication. While most of the publications originated from the United States of America, Alberto Pena was the most influential author. The most studied topic was on associated malformations, and the most common study design was cohort studies. Conclusion The approach of citation analysis provided us an opportunity to retrieve the most influential articles on ARM. The trends in research in ARM have also been analyzed, spreading over five decades.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The number of citations to a paper represents the weight of that work in a particular area of interest. Several highly cited papers are listed in the bibliometric analysis. This study aimed to identify and analyze the 100 most cited papers in insomnia research that might appeal to researchers and clinicians. METHODS We reviewed the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database to identify articles from 1985 to 24 March 2022. The R bibliometric package was used to further analyze citation counts, authors, year of publication, source journal, geographical origin, subject, article type, and level of evidence. Word co-occurrence in 100 articles was visualized using VOS viewer software. RESULTS A total of 44,654 manuscripts were searched on the Web of Science. Between 2001 and 2021, the top 100 influential manuscripts were published, with a total citation frequency of 38,463. The top countries and institutions contributing to the field were the U.S. and Duke University. Morin C.M. was the most productive author, ranking first in citations. Sleep had the highest number of manuscripts published in the top 100 (n = 31), followed by Sleep Medicine Reviews (n = 9). The most cited manuscript (Bastien et al., Sleep Medicine, 2001; 3,384 citations) reported clinical validation of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) as a brief screening indicator for insomnia and as an outcome indicator for treatment studies. Co-occurrence analyses suggest that psychiatric disorders combined with insomnia and cognitive behavioral therapy remain future research trends. CONCLUSION This study provides a detailed list of the most cited articles on insomnia. The analysis provides researchers and clinicians with a detailed overview of the most cited papers on insomnia over the past two decades. Notably, COVID-19, anxiety, depression, CBT, and sleep microstructure are potential areas of focus for future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Premenstrual syndrome/premenstrual dysphoric disorder is a serious condition affecting women worldwide, causing clinically significant distress or interference. Therefore, solving these diseases has become the utmost concern worldwide, culminating in numerous studies. In this study, we performed bibliometric analysis on the 100 most cited papers with the aim of identifying research hot spots and trends in this field. METHODS We screened the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of Web of Science (WOS) to identify the top 100 cited studies on PMS/PMDD. Next, we analyzed relevant literature from various journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors, and keywords. Finally, we used VOSviewer and Citespace software to generate knowledge maps and identify hot spots and trends. RESULTS The top 100 highly cited studies were published in 55 journals, between 1999 and 2017, across 24 countries/regions around the world. Most articles were published in Obstetrics and Gynecology, whereas Psych neuroendocrinology had the largest average number of citations per paper. The United States had the highest number of publications, followed by England, Canada, and Sweden. The top three institutions that published the highly cited literature were the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Obstetrics, Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Reproductive Biology were the main research directions, whereas the top 10 Co-occurrence of Keywords included double-blind, fluoxetine, efficacy, prevalence, epidemiology, phase sertraline treatment, depression, progesterone, placebo, and placebo-controlled trial. Results from cluster analysis indicated that more comprehensive epidemiology and steroid pathogenesis have gradually become the hot spots and trends. CONCLUSION These findings demonstrated that bibliometric analysis can intuitively and rapidly reveal the frontiers and hot spots of research in PMS/PMDD. Notably, epidemiology, steroid pathogenesis, GABAA receptor delta subunits, and double-blind placebo-controlled trials are potential areas of focus for future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, the issue of postoperative pain has raised wide concern in the medical community. Postoperative hyperalgesia (POH), as the primary etiology of pain, has been extensively studied and numerous articles have been published on this topic; however, no comprehensive bibliometric review of POH publications has been conducted. Thus, we aimed to examine the 100 top-cited reports on POH and summarize their key characteristics. METHODS Published studies on POH were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) using the search terms "postoperative hyperalgesia". All papers published since 1980 were searched. The search results were sorted by the frequency of the total citations, and 2 reviewers independently skimmed the abstracts and full texts to identify the 100 top-cited reports. After the 100 top-cited papers were identified, the following data were extracted by the two reviewers: the title, surname(s) of the author(s), name of the first author, publication year, country of origin, article type, institutional affiliations, keywords, source journal, and impact factor (IF) of the journal. RESULTS The initial search returned 1,747 papers, published in 466 journals that originated from 1,679 institutions in 48 countries. The 100 top-cited reports received 21,454 citations. The USA was the most cited and most productive country, contributing nearly half of the 100 top-cited papers. The numbers of studies on POH have trended upward and continue to increase each year. CONCLUSIONS An analysis of the 100 top-cited studies on POH provided a better guidance for ongoing researches. The prominent keywords "opioid-induced hyperalgesia", especially "remifentanil", is still on top of POH research area. Nevertheless, the mechanism of POH is intricate and unclear, which is crucial to conduct further studies and find some new interventions.
