Abstract
BACKGROUND Woodhouse-Sakati syndrome (WSS) is a rare neuroendocrine and ectodermal disorder inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern. The syndrome presents prominent clinical features, including alopecia, neuroendocrine defects, neurological findings and progressive hearing loss. The condition results from mutations in the DCAF17 gene. AIMS To search for the underlying genetic defect in a Pakistani family with WSS phenotypes. METHODOLOGY Whole exome sequencing was used to search for the disease-causing variant. RESULTS Analysis of the exome data revealed a start loss sequence variant (c.1A>G, p.M1?) in DCAF17. CONCLUSION This variant is predicted to abolish translation of the DCAF17 polypeptide. To our knowledge, this is the first start loss variant identified in the DCAF17.

Abstract
The above article, published in print in the Jan 2018 issue of the Journal of Child Psychology & Psychiatry and online in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by the JCPP Editor-in-Chief, Edmund Sonuga-Barke, and John Wiley & Sons. Following a series of communications from readers highlighting concerns about the paper (now published on the journal website), the journal editors requested that the authors send them the raw data from the trial. In response the authors informed the editors that; (i) the electronic data base had been lost following a computer outage and (ii) that they could send only 95 out of 120 hard-copy participant data sheets as one site had closed and was no longer contactable. The substantial data loss in and of itself posed a serious difficulty in verifying the correctness of the data presented in the paper. The JCPP then analysed the data from the 95 cases itself. A number of significant discrepancies emerged between the re-analysis and the findings reported in the paper both in terms of means and standard deviations of key outcome variables across the trial. These involved very substantial differences that we judged to be extremely unlikely to have arisen due to variations in composition of the original and re-analysed samples. We also discovered previously unidentified/reported problems with missing data and recording irregularities regarding changes in treatment regimen and subject identifiers. As a result of these issues the Editors no longer have confidence in the findings reported in the original paper. Based on all these matters combined and following published guidance from the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) and Wiley's Best Practice Guidelines on Publishing Ethics, we have decided that the only course of action available to us is to retract the paper.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic therapy are well-established treatments in acute coronary syndromes. Highly sensitive assays have diminished the positive predictive value of troponin in acute coronary syndromes and increased the importance of the clinical assessment in interpreting positive results. This cohort study sought to investigate over-treatment of non-coronary troponin rises and associated adverse outcomes. METHODS AND RESULTS We reviewed 223 consecutive patients presenting to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, with suspected acute coronary syndromes over a six-week period. Of these, 27 (12%) met our 'inappropriate therapy' criteria. This group had a low ischaemic risk (HEART score: 4.2 ± 1.4) (GRACE score: 117 ± 30.8) but an intermediate-high bleeding risk (CRUSADE score: 34 ± 14.5). Approximately half of the patients (14/27, 52%) reported chest pain, with only 4/27 (15%) having ischaemic ECG changes. There were three intracranial haemorrhages, each after the patient had received a single dose of aspirin, ticagrelor and fondaparinux. CONCLUSION The combination of injudicious high-sensitivity troponin testing with potent anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic therapy was associated with possible over-treatment of patients and associated harm. Emphasis on interpretation of troponin in the context of clinical presentation and improved awareness of type 2 myocardial infarction are essential to limit iatrogenic pharmacological harm.

Abstract
This study was planned to evaluate the effect of distillery yeast sludge (DYS) as a protein source on growth performance, nutrient digestibility and slaughtering parameters in Japanese quail birds. For this purpose, six hundred day-old quails were randomly distributed into six dietary treatments. These dietary treatments were; G1 (Control Group) fed a basal diet (CP 24%, ME 2900 kcal/kg) without DYS, while other dietary treatments were G2, G3, G4, G5 and G6 fed basal diet containing DYS @ 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 and 7.5%, respectively. It was observed that feed intake and weight gain tended to increase (P < 0.05) up to 3% DYS. Better (P < 0.05) feed conversion ratio (FCR) was observed in birds fed diet containing DYS at the level of 1.5 and 3%. Dry matter and crude protein digestibility decreased with increasing levels of DYS (P < 0.05). Cost of production per 100 g of weight gain was also less in birds fed diet containing 3% DYS. Study revealed that inclusion of distillery yeast sludge in the diet of Japanese quails up to 3% improves the growth performance and economics efficacy.

Abstract
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is emerging as the most common chronic liver condition in the Western world and it is commonly associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim of this study to determine the prevalence of NAFLD and identify the predisposing factors in type 2 DM patients with NAFLD. Total of 258 patients of type 2 DM were included in this observational study in the Department of Medicine, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from 11th May 2013 to 11th November 2013. Patients with characteristic findings on ultrasonography were considered as having fatty liver. They were divided into fatty liver (Group I) and non-fatty liver group (Group II) and were further evaluated by measurement of body mass index, liver function tests and lipid profile. Out of 258 type 2 diabetic patients, 167 (64.7%) patients had fatty liver on ultrasonography. BMI, waist-hip ratio and triglyceride levels in the Group I was significantly higher than Group II. An increase in the levels of ALT, AST, total cholesterol, LDL and a decrease in HDL was observed in Group I as compared to Group II. The prevalence of NAFLD is common among in type 2 diabetic patients and it increases with the rising incidence of obesity. Obesity as well as elevated liver enzymes, triglyceride and cholesterol are significantly raised in NAFLD patients with type 2 DM. It highlights the importance of routine liver function test and lipid profile in subjects with type 2 DM and should be more closely observed for NAFLD and liver complications.

Abstract
Even though parasitic infections are often costly or deadly for the host, we know very little which genes influence parasite susceptibility and disease severity. Proliferative kidney disease is an emerging and, at elevated water temperatures, potentially deadly disease of salmonid fishes that is caused by the myxozoan parasite Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae. By screening >7.6 K SNPs in 255 wild brown trout (Salmo trutta) and combining association mapping and Random Forest approaches, we identified several candidate genes for both the parasite resistance (inverse of relative parasite load; RPL) and the severe anaemic response to the parasite. The strongest RPL-associated SNP mapped to a noncoding region of the congeneric Atlantic salmon (S. salar) chromosome 10, whereas the second strongest RPL-associated SNP mapped to an intronic region of PRICKLE2 gene, which is a part of the planar cell polarity signalling pathway involved in kidney development. The top SNP associated with anaemia mapped to the intron of the putative PRKAG2 gene. The human ortholog of this gene has been associated with haematocrit and other blood-related traits, making it a prime candidate influencing parasite-triggered anaemia in brown trout. Our findings demonstrate the power of association mapping to pinpoint genomic regions and potential causative genes underlying climate change-driven parasitic disease resistance and severity. Furthermore, this work illustrates the first steps towards dissecting genotype-phenotype links in a wild fish population using closely related genome information.
